i bought a set of Trapper Runes from TP the day they revealed DragonHunter just in case but i get the feeling the CD on traps will make it not worth while.
Did you buy Runes of the Trooper instead? Trapper Runes are account bound since you have to make them through crafting.

@Okamikazi, well i dont know how many use in Zergs because its all BLOB WARS 2 there so hard for me to tell how many Rampage warriors are around. But pretty much every WvW roaming warrior is using Rampage. Its the best 1v1 heck even 1vX elite.

i have a similar build in sPvP that i use when im bored..,….the downsides i see is that there is not enough burst to take someone down and confusion really only works on low tier players. Good players can work around it and as Cryorion said, necros can transfer it back to you.
Can be quite fun when jumping into a big fight on a point swinging that hammer. Also Rampage has a lot of CC so you get to apply weakness, bleed and confusion very easily.

agreed everytime i come across a warrior he pops Rampage. I actually went back to signet of rage to experiment with other builds but i feel like i need to go back to rampage so that i can deal with the other rampagers out there.
Oh and @yanoch, you dont need to worry about condi clearing since you get 6 sec of condi immunity if you pop heal signet before using rampage. All the rampage damage is in the first 6 sec anyway.

I use kick and stomp along with rampage on my troll Hammer/Mace/Shield Condi build with distracting strikes in sPvP. Condi application on practically every weapon skill and 2 utilities. (plus all the rampage skills pretty much)
Kills a lot of nab players who dont realise they have 16+ stacks of confusion on them.
Doesn’t work against good players or in a 1vX situation.
No burst though so it really is just for when im in trolling mood.

Shouts instead of medi, but with AH, and all the boon spam related to aegis, it could be interesting to see for sure. Don’t forget Runes of the Defender proc regen per block, and grants an ~4k heal on the same cooldown as Shelter. Even staying medi, that could be huge burst healing between that and Monks Focus from Smite on heal.
Except for the 6th set bonus will proc immediately upon entering the fight (since you will have Aegis up most likely). So you get a useless 4k heal when you are at max hp. You will have to wait 30 sec before you get it again. Biggest downside of that rune set IMO. The regen on block is nice but you have to give up dps or speed to have that rune set and for roaming its horrible since us guardians are pretty much locked into Traveller/Speed runes unless you are in a group that can provide swiftness.

Im definitely seeing a pretty big difference in Armor and Crit Chance when building PVP build and then doing the same in game.

The build above shows 25% crit chance but ingame you only have 10%. Also the Toughness stat is 2320 but in game its significantly below 2000 (although the armor stat is actually pretty accurate)

Ive been using GS Mace/Shield with ARMS instead of Strength line. As such i use signet of rage (for the fury and Crit buff from signet mastery) and not rampage….Yes its not as faceroll as Rampage but i still win a good % of my fights.
Ive used rampage in a build and when im lazy it really is much much easier to win against average players. But i dont really enjoy it.

Hi did anyone else notice that the en.gw2skills.net editor is showing incorrect data even after they said it was updated for the new June 23 patch? I made a build on the site for pvp. But then when i went online the stats were signficantly worse…. crit chance, armor etc was much lower than what was shown the editor.
I chose pvp build specifically since there is less calculation to do versus a pve/wvw build with foods/utilities and mixed gear etc.

Quick question….i was messing around with using a sigil of rage in my GS with sigil of fire instead of the Fire/Air combo and i found the rage procs almost always during 100b after the skull crack which means i have a quickness 100b and if i get them under 50% hp heightened focus also procs for more quickness.
Has anyone else tried this?
The downside to this is that its a 30s CD whereas the FIRE/AIR combo is available every time you switch to GS.

My original intention was to create a warrior build that didn’t strictly follow the meta but was able to perform effectively in dungeons.
Personally I would like to see more variety in builds for each class but it’s hard to rationalise much change because alot of what there is to offer in the ways of different traits and utils just isn’t very relevant to what’s needed in dungeons.
Unfortunately due to the specializations variety is pretty much out of the question as far as traits are concerned. We have way fewer options now so most builds will inevitably use the same traits in most cases, with a few exceptions.
Yes with only 3 choices per slot now and no possibility of slotting an adept in a master slot or master in GM slot, the only variations are likely to be rune/sigil/armor choices.

@BurrTheKing. Ive played GS/Hamm and i would say i prefer Skullcrack GS M/Shield. However as i wrote above im leaning towards ARMS (thanks @Cygnus!) instead of Strength. Im not a pro PvP’er and as such i like the extra toughness from the cavalier amulet for survivability. If i land the skullcrack then i get the Unsuspecting Foe proc of +50% crit chance which is more than enough to proc both Air/Fire sigils during 100blades.
Even without landing skullcrack, with signet mastery and fury i can get crit chance around 40% during combat. (90%+ on stunned foes) with 210% crit damage.
I’m amazed at the number of nab rangers in unranked that think they can just rapid fire and win. Shield reflect is soooo nice.

Mysteriax, i commend you on your goals and intentions….i myself like to experiment with diff builds and when im going solo in open world i do just that i often rock a GS/Hammer or heck even GS Axe/Shield just to mess around in Silverwastes and ORR, but i do that SOLO. Anything works in open world.
However, i will say the Meta Zerker GS Axe/Mace build with Phalanx Strength and Foreful Greatsword is just sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than anything that i could come up with that i feel its pretty much a no brainer.
Also the gameplay with GS Axe/Mace is not boring for me. I do change my armor/sigils because frankly i dont want to buy/make multiple sets of zerker weapons for WvW/PVE etc and i dont do speedruns so its not a big deal.
But i def agree that a hammer in dungeons (on a warrior) is definitely hurting your DPS and the team.

Skull crack was too easy to land in the past (before my time) so they had to slow it down otherwise it really was easy mode warrior pvp. Now its high reward but you have to work for it.

Against good players 1v1 you can miss but if you chain it with Shield Bash or Pommel Aash first that helps to increase the chance of landing the skull crack. Or use Bulls charge. I also have Throw Bolas slotted sometimes to use as another form of CC to hold the enemy in place either so i can 100b them or as a setup for Skullcrack.
At the very least using bulls charge, bolas, pommel bash, shield bash helps to bait more dodges or force a stun break etc. Count their dodges and boom land that skull crack

agreed Radiant Retaliation should be removed from the game…..And Retaliation is so passive and low hitting i dont even bother to think about it. Description is wrong its not a reflect. (ANET pls look at warrior shield reflect for an example of a true reflect)

LOL the Engies QQing Grenade disable are just as ludicrous as the Guardians that were QQing the loss of Symbolic Avenger bug. (i have a guard by the way).
It was a bug and it will be fixed just like symbolic avenger. Be thankful you had it for a few days longer than guards had theirs.

I think the only Cav trinkets in the game are ascended, so you can only buy them (account bound) from a laurel vendor.

Although there might be some named exotic cavalier trinkets, try searching those by hand if you didn’t already.
I generally find Cavalier to be a very good stat spread to have on trinkets to balance out your stats on warrior, so it wouldn’t be a waste to get a set.

I actually tried out your version of skullcrack using Arms instead of strength and Cavalier amulet. It worked pretty well. The signet mastery gives a decent crit boost so even if you dont land SC you can still get crits. Air and Fire sigils on the GS really boost the 100b damage after a Skull Crack. I also pop healing signet between fights to proc the 100 extra precision and its off CD by the time i enter the next fight.
Yes i miss the OP Rampage when im fighting 2v1 but i still got some good kills and the tankyness of the cavalier trinkets is very nice to have.
Skullcrack is fun build and a pleasant change from the GS/Ham or LB warriors out there. Im a casual pvp’er that solo q’s a fair amount.
Plus the LOLs I get from shield reflect on nooby rangers using rapid fire on me is just plain funny.

For lols i would sometimes join a pug zerg in WvW and use rifle with crack shot and would get lots of loot bags with it while comfortably staying away from the front lines. I tried it last night and yes having to sacrifice warrior sprint for it is annoying since you will have to completely rely on zerg swiftness but i still got tons of kills/bags with it. Firing a rifle with piercing shots is pretty good for looting baggies.
Having high crit chance + sigil of strength + berserkers power = lots of pretty decent damage.
Sux for roaming now though.

Arms just offers a lot more survivability because you can slot cavalier trinkets, something I always found to be one of the upsides of this build. In WvW, I have to say I like the Arms version a lot more in this gank and condi heavy meta.
Quick question why are Cavalier trinkets impossible to find in TP? Are they only craftable?

I agree with the OP. Please let us select lower tier traits and place in higher tiers if we want like the old system.
One reason I left my previous MMO was because it went down the “dumb it down” route. GW2 was a breath of fresh air with the “Play it your way” style. I fear the “dumb it down” mentality is coming to this game now too.

It makes perfect sense. If everything was there all the time, people would think i can always buy it later and spend less money. While if everything is at risk of disappear and not come back for quite a while or ever, you going to buy it now, to be sure you get it. A limited time frame to get something makes you purchase things spontaneous. Even things you might not have bought if you had time to think. The timer which counts down enhances this urge to buy now.

Like I said, I’ll play my full zerk engineer and one shot people until enough people complain about this and Anet fixes it. They can change world boss HP (because that is important), but allowing people to be one shotted in WvW and PvP is no big deal I suppose. #PvE #Priorities #Anet
Agreed. Anyone who thinks this is intended is just stupid. The Guard symbolic avenger was stupid and was disabled yesterday. This also will likely be addressed. If not you will see more Engies in sPvP until enough complaints go through or Anets statistics show Engies over represented.

This is very widely known by players AND ANET. Symbolic avenger trait causes guardians to get stackable +10% bonuses so as the OP said , get 10 guards to drop symbols (all traited with symbolic avenger) and all 10 guards will have 100% damage boost.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon since its obviously a bug,
Also i believe damage multipliers are Multiplicative not additive so 10 symbols is not 100% boost but actually 159% boost. 1.1^10

I played for a short while last night in sPvP and for my playstyle i preferred Sword/Focus Scepter/Torch rather than GS Scepter/Torch.
I liked the focus block and blind as well as the burn/might on block proc (even if it was nerfed). Sword AA procs VoJ pretty well. Low CD teleport on sword vs higher CD leap.
I need to do a lot more matches to really get a feel for it though.

game is not very interesting right now…. pvp and wvw is just broken with all this condi damage. I was on my war in sPvP and got destroyed by 2 guards in about 5 seconds. The death stats showed 45K burn damage hah. So ive just been goofing around in PVE. Im not really interested in making/testing too many builds when they may or may not be obsolete once Anet finally gets around to finishing balancing.
This also means i cant make new gear since we dont know what is optimal until major balancing is finished.
As a poster wrote above, game isnt fun when winning or losing is based on reaction time or who can get the first shot in. Winning should be based on skill which is a combination of rotations/reactions and clever counterplay and not who gets the first hit in from stealth or range or whatever.

I would agree with Preacher. Soldier armor is a solid set and adjust your weapons/accessories to tweak your stats.
Ive been using a mix of zerk/soldier armor ever since i hit 80 months ago. I will probably replace the remaining zerk pieces with soldier or knights. I already have nearly every kind of accessory and weapon stat there is.

yup selfless daring has a 1:1 ratio with healing Power. Now that you dont get the 300 healing power from the trait lines it will heal for less than it did last week.
Not true, did a test with 1300 HP and only got it up to 800 on the tooltip. Didn’t do a live test though.
thats really strange. Its always been a 1:1 increase in healing per healing power.

im staying away from PVP and WVW until all this emergency balancing gets sorted out. Ive just been hanging out in ORR and Silverwastes messing around.
For me personally i’d rather let the others pew pew each other and QQ on forums. Then once Anet re-balances i will start looking at pvp and wvw builds.
Right now its almost a waste of time since almost none of the builds will be the same a week from now.

Well burning was absolutely useless on guards prior this update. It was something that just happened as you did your normal rotations. Guards dont have access to any other decent condi. At least now their ONE and ONLY condi does something.
