Can ANYONE in this forum say anything other than L2P?
http://i.imgur.com/hzSrHgP.jpg There. I L2P. That doesn’t make the NPCs any easier. I didn’t say they were actually HARD, but they are hardER than most players I’ve come across.
8v8 hotjoin is not L2P
ele tears are hilarious. eles have said every nerf to date to every other class has been justified, now this is the first one that is over the top, lolk.
btw i play mesmer, necro, ranger, ele, engi
lol hot join
Probably because he solo queues and plays for fun. Playing noobs is not fun. Put a Level 20 Glory Rank Requirement on Tournaments and the problem is solved.
that’s a dumb idea hot join doesn’t teach you anything
how are you a premade of rank 40s and barely ranked top 1000? maybe you should be doing more hot join?
that was nice of you to trash talk new players good job bro
agree with op I made an eleven and copied a cheese build simply spamming between attunements and using rtl when in trouble makes you near impossible to kill. and I had no clue what I was doing
more cheese than condition engi or d/d ele? nah
I did this with 30ish dyes and got 3 white and a midnight fire dye, nearly 30g. Luck of the draw i guess.

Wow dude which god did you sacrifice your firstborn to? :O
ive gotten white on my necro and midnight fire on my mesmer just from chests
more likely it was 150-150 when he DC’d but since he gets carried anyway and they were likely facing a pug they easily won without him.
It counts as a loss on your rating. It will start counting as a loss by the next patch. April 30th at the latest.
hi when is hotfix for 5v4 matches
your story, it’s cool bro
you should be able to use glory points to purchase stuff. I’m rank 30 and already have pretty much all of the rank 30 skins and had like 50k glory leftover that i just used to buy chests for dyes.
Gamers should take a step back and see what is truly going on, Anet is kinda smart in what there are doing…they are letting players have the ability to make there game an E sport.
Think about it, they will add spectator mode and custom arenas, not only will hardcore PvPers ( what is left from it ) show us how to truly play a class, they can go also to twitch tv and cast it while Anet developpers are looking from a sideline and hopefully truly see what needs a nerf and what not…..
I have faith it will eventually get into and E sport game but dont expect it for the next months to come…its the first big step towards it dow
Im my opinion what they truly need is a 2v2 3v3 arena game and I HOPE they learn from the spectator mode as they will look at other players how they play. I want Anet developpers themselves to create a map with no gimics at all, just plain old arena maybe with a respawn for a couple of times when you are dead and then full out deathmatch
you can already do this with streams, but nobody watches them because cookie cutter classes and conquest = boring. Custom servers wont suddenly make watching a d/d ele fighting a guardian on a small circle any more exciting.
yea custom arena isn’t going to change anything imo. solo queues and team ratings would have been a much better use if development time
guest there, problem solved
LoL took 2 years to kick off….I’m not worried I think gw2 in about another 9 months or so will be well and truly on its way to picking up its numbers and becoming competitive to warrant esport status….so check back in a year.
LoL was a small budget/market game built up on word of mouth, GW2 spvp is the complete opposite, massive initial budget/marketing, millions of initial sales, poor word of mouth regarding spvp which pretty much killed its chance of ever taking off.
April 30th….. Esports in GW2 begins…. or not begins depending on the prices of servers.
I still vote for 200 gems to buy a server and 100 gems to maintain it.
nope, custom servers and observer mode aren’t going to change anything. You can already “observe” in streams, yet spvp streams have lower viewers than auction house streams. Conquest combined with lack of class variety is boring to watch, period.
We went 3ppl + 2 pug this morning and after some wins vs decent teams we faced those guys, they were 5 but the last one was like 20+ and he left at around 350-400 (I can’t really blame him) matchmaking is so kittened up, even from a winner’s point of view this is clearly stupid…i know they were probably the only ones queued up when we submitted, but seriously…this is plain crap..
but but but rank doesn’t equal skill n stuff. still waiting for a screen shot of a r40+ team losing to a low rank team
Of course for PvE everything is different. PvE is crap and boring and nobody likes the grind but if you can get better items… then suddenly a lot of players like the grind because they can show to others: “Look at me, I have super rare item X, I’m pro!(meaning I played 1000 hours which everyone can do without being pro lol)”.
I think ‘special’ is the word you are looking for.
it’s an mmo not a fps, there is supposed to be progression and currently spvp lacks it.
I think you missed out on all the beta/prerelease talk then…
That was one of the games main selling points when it came to PvP, only cosmetic progression, and people generally liked the idea of it.
cosmetic progression is fine. Cosmetic progression where you have to wait an eternity to hit that next “tier” and then can immediately obtain every piece of cosmetic gear for that tier due to overabundance of unused currency = fail.
you can also add cosmetic gear only obtainable with certain leaderboard rank. There’s tons of ways to doe cosmetic progression that is enjoyable. ANet just failed miserably, partially thanks to the horrid alpha testers they had who also told them paid tournaments, hot join and conquest only were good ideas.

Rank does NOT equal skill. Rank is simply a metric for experience. Just because you are rank 40 does not mean you are playing at an elite level
Confusing? Yes it is.
hi can you post ss of all r40+ team losing to team in their teens
most people who are 40+ got there by playing and winning tournaments, not farming hot join.
Sadly I think this is untrue even though it should be. Glory and Rank per unit time are higher in the 16 man zergfest. I would wager that there are far more 40 and 50+ Hot Join heroes than players that legitimately earned that with tPvP wins.
ok so show me a pic of an all 40+ team losing to a non reroll team of teenies
People should be thinking of why we don’t have something entirely better than collections.
I hope you mean ANet devs, not the players when you say “people”. It’s not our fault you missed all these quality of life improvements that are standard in most other games and/or were mentioned multiple times during betas.
it’s an mmo not a fps, there is supposed to be progression and currently spvp lacks it.
I’d love to see some screen shots of teams with low ranks beating a team of 40+ ranks for all the people saying rank =/ skill. While it’s not entirely true, most people who are 40+ got there by playing and winning tournaments, not farming hot join.
lol u bougth 2 copys of gw2
Yes. I have plenty of money from having my own business. It was 40 bucks. <shrug>.
lol has nothing to do with the amount, has to do with you spending 40 bucks to preserve your rank on a joke leaderboard in a game where nobody takes the pvp seriously. This is hilarious.
so we should see some of these in a couple years after custom servers and solo queue. kewl
team game with no team ladder. seems legit
Due to the lack of proper support, more game modes and the kitten advantage of kiting vs melee, SPVP is almost DEAD you simply can not separate the Qs if you expect to play more than 1 game per afternoon.
Keeping a bad mechanic in the game because of population is not a good design. PvP devs have one responsibility: PvP. They only need to concern themselves with facilitating a healthy environment for PvP competition (through balance, infrastructure, etc). Population is another issue for a different department of Anet to handle.
How healthy do you consider it would be, to wait in line 45 minutes for a pvp mach?.
it wouldnt be 45 min for solo/duo queue, teams maybe, but that’s ANets fault since it’s not an esport.
The beauty of GW2 is that it is actually 3 games in one. So, if a player happens to be a dou’che to his team and leaves mid-match, and they get tourney-banned for 2 hours, they can still enjoy hot join PvP, WvW, and PvE. They’ll just be barred from the most competitive aspect of the game temporarily.
Am I not merciful?
Nope, not at all no need for punishment due to d/c and bad latency. If a player decides to ragequit in a match then their lost is not being on that team anymore and they will have to find a new team or do not rage quit again. Now having it displayed on leaderboards how many times this player has ragequit would be priceless xD.
Now through spectator mode we can see if the player really did ragequit or got d/c. I think the Devs got the control of that data.
we are talking solo queue here bud.
Asssuming that the best players are a minority (which is a pretty good bet), that means that the best players would indeed be better off with beserker gear. But you can’t tell me all players are in the top 15-20 % in skill.
The reality is more like 1% can pull off a tissue-paper build, and 15% claim they can but end up doing more harm to their groups than good by facerolling on so many pulls.
1% lol? any guild group with voice chat can plow through instances with full zerker sets.
1% would be more applicable to those with the skill to solo a dungeon.
LoL punishment is too hard. I heard they even ban accounts completely. For Guild Wars 2 it would be enough with some sort of timed penelty that prevents you from joining for some time.
If they really want esports there would be premade teams that just “ban” the players from their team if the players are bad and disconnect often because of bad connection.
Really don’t need to completely ban them from tPvP if it only happens in randoms. The rating drop should be enough if they do it too often since they always get losses.
too hard? yet the game is immensely more popular/ successful. Definitely not too hard.
the only people who ever fight against penalties like these are those who know they would be hit with it often and shouldnt be doing rated gameplay to begin with.
you have time to log back in to avoid a penalty, rift does this. if you can’t log back in within the time they give you you are either afk or have a horrid connection and shouldn’t be doing matches.
not a priority for anet
Yeah usually end up the same way. Overzealous zerks faceplant then me and a friend finish off the boss.
Most commonly it’s warriors laying there, dirtnapping. I would be tired too if I swung a sword like they do.
and those bads would die regardless of what gear they are in. point of the discussion is with skilled players bersker > all.
I like how the OP blames his teammates as the player with the lowest score in the game, with a whole one capture and 0’s across the board.
Seriously? When will people realize that rank is completely insignificant and has nothing to do with matchmaking? Since when does ones motivation to grind hotjoins become indicative of ones skill level? Are people just really THAT ignorant to how glicko/ELO ranking works?
Lulz @ our rank? Lulz @ your contribution.
where did he blame his team? he is blaming anet for putting a group of lower skilled players vs a skilled premade. in proper matchmaking scores like that should not happen.
lol at bad isp excuses. you are the people who should not be playing competitive games that require internet connection
Hello, me and one friend were 146 and 147 rank. He was 146, I was 147.
We played 2 games together and we won both games. After them, in the first leaderboard update, I am 102 and he is 111.
Can someone explain this?
Just because you are 146 and 147 does not mean that your hidden rating is exactly the same, nor does it mean your player volitility score is the same. Even if you were at the exact same rating on the same team (in the same game), if your volitility is vastly different the rating you gain will be different. This is how the system works, I hope the information has helped.
what if they only ever played together?
Not only is it hard to rise up in solo Q, but as you do get your mmr to rise, you eventually end up more likely to face premades and cause your mmr to plummet again.
well if those premades are any good they should be higher ranked so you dont lose much, the problem is the mid tier premades who can only beat pugs.
the idea is good players will eventually get paired together and rise up it can take a while but it works. there are people who have made top 500 from solo queue and we don’t even have separation yet
As I’ve said before, custom arenas and spectator mode are two of our highest priorities, so those will come first. But once those things are finished, we can then look at the KABILLION things we want to add to PvP and then decide which features we release next.
are you going to make 4v5 matches and penalties for quitters a priority?
mesmer is pretty boring and squishy at low levels id go engi or ele id they are skilled. Otherwise maybe necro
do you really now people with multi accounts that try to do that mursie?
devs don’t care they are focused on custom servers
joining a premade doesnt matter it matches you against equally ranked people. also you were basically still just a map chat pug
I don’t get it, do you not want devs to explore builds that are not up to par in spvp and try to figure out how to make them better?
8 months later: they’re still trying to figure out why builds like that one doesn’t work.
Boy, my faith in the devs has been restored.
lol
I bet his rank is 5%
I dont use it, sometimes I like to queue up the toggle and wait for the precise moment to drop it
how quiet sataartoceny has been since ratings went from time played to skill based?
pve is just super boring imo. by level 10 you have every weapon ability unlocked and with downleveling you basically just auto attack things and they die in two hits. there’s nothing to look forward to as you level just a mindless grind to 80 in ghost town zones after you leave the starter zones. I really wish you could gain xp in pvp.
