Beware of LF1M

It’s generally wise to at least be a little wary about things like this. Especially notorious explore paths that are often sold to the public after beating a particularly tough boss… However, I can also safely say that I have done plenty of LF1M and have yet to be kicked.

Way to use an instant negative mindset.

I play with my family at times. There is only four of us. We can do some dungeons with just the four of us, but sometimes we like to have that one extra. So we always advertise for LF1M for anyone that wishes to join us.

We are not mean or rude or troll anyone. We are a very friendly bunch, we just like to invite someone to fill that extra slot and maybe make a new friend in the process.

Don’t think everyone is out to get you just cause they are looking for one more.

How well does that 4 man work for you guys? Must be rough with the latest anti zerg patch. If you all need a 5th, I’m generally always available! I play pretty casually myself going to college and all… Don’t have any friends that play either. Love the game, but man can it get lonely..

Eh, the whole zerg thing never affected us really. We voice chat when we play together and know most of the fights already. So we are pretty good at staying alive and making the best of our resources. Just gotta learn to coordinate properly and work together and you’ll never have to worry about dying and zerg rezzing.

Like was said before, a relog fixes it.

It’s been happening for awhile now. I think like Chorel said, it’s an issue when you alt+tab out of the game. I have my playlists going on while I play GW2, and alt+tab frequently. I get this same issue as well and relogging is really the only fix at the moment.

If it’s like GW1 where we got full campaigns, then more than likely yes.

But if it is just an expansion, it all really depends how the game is doing then. If I’m not happy with the continued direction of the game, then no. If things change for the better, then yes.

I hope you guys know this was just an excuse to terminate the free server transfers. Arenanet offers some bogus gimmick as a cover/excuse to eliminate a free service.

Wow, you just couldn’t be more wrong.

Guesting was a feature that was announced before Beta. We were supposed to have it when the game released, but there were complications and it got pulled.

So instead, they gave us free transfers temporarily till they could get guesting fixed.

Flame & Frost : New Clothing?

The only town clothing they have mentioned is a Quaggan Backpack (which seems rather immersion breaking, out of place, and just doesn’t fit).

They really need to add more stuff though. Skins or Clothing. I’ve been running around collecting screenshots of NPCs that have all these outfits that we don’t. Stuff that would be perfect for Town Clothing. I mean, it’s already in the game so why not just add it to the store?

Well you can only guest on 2 servers every 24 hours so not sure how you could really exploit dragons and events with that..

More than enough, if you have the connections…is NP.

I have friends on different worlds. But I must be lying right?

Not everyone can get into Tarnished Coast, as it is almost always full. So my friends play on other worlds. Plus I have met friends in Overflow who enjoy their world cause of their guilds and WvWvW. They aren’t going to leave their world and everything they have there just to try to get on my world.

We have guesting just for that reason. Now we can play together without having to leave our guilds behind and without ditching any friends we have made on our own worlds. We don’t have to wait a week to decide what world to transfer to so we can play together. Now we can just guest together to all play together.

Then i have friends worldwide too, all those who added me from dungeon runs, or i ever said or they to me ’’hi’’ in overflows, and especially my 500 men alliance (thought 95% already left the game) and the rest has guild for use as extra bank slots.

What are you going on about?

I’m talking actual friends, not random strangers you say hi to and that’s it. You know what friends are right? Is it so hard to believe that people have real friends on other worlds? Or do you really just not know what friends are?

and that person who was wanting a quiver, check gw2 wiki… I recall seeing a recipe to make one that doesn’t involve unfathomable numbers of fractal runs to get it, though i also recall it needed 250 powerful blood—-pick your poison

Thanks, but I checked the Wiki on that. All the Quivers require a Vial of Condensed Mists Essence.

Which in turn, can only be obtained via Fractals. So I still have to do Fractals if I want a Quiver skin.

Guesting is going to be great.

All those players who have made friends on other worlds, can now play together in the open world.

Except that my regular internet gaming group is spread across the world, not neatly compartmentalised into a single continent. Guesting is useless because of the region nonsense. There’s no oceans on the internet, don’t add them in.

How is it useless because of one thing? Sure you can’t play with EU/US players if you are a US/EU player, but you can still play with those friends you have made from your region. And if you are a US player and pretty much all your friends are EU, then just transfer to EU and then use guesting to play with them. If it is a direct even split, then choose which side you want to play with more.

In the end, would you rather not play with them at all, or rather play with some of them? Without guesting, you wouldn’t even be able to play with them all. With guesting, at least you can play with some of them.

Is anyone avoiding ascended gear and why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I have always avoided Ascended gear just cause I don’t like being gated into content and forced to do something over and over just to be on equal ground. And I hate RNG.

But with Ascended items becoming available through achievements, I might actually get them now.

The frustrating part is, the one piece of Ascended gear that I actually wanted, I still have to do Fractals for. So to me, this patch didn’t help at all in that sense. I want a Quiver for my Ranger. But in order to get that Quiver, I have to farm Fractals. Which I will never do for reason stated above.

I mean they finally give us new back skins, and then force us to do Fractals to get them. If I could get a Quiver any other way, I wouldn’t care. But I can’t.

Guesting is going to be great.

All those players who have made friends on other worlds, can now play together in the open world. Doing DE’s and leveling together without having to change worlds every week. As well, those who have multiple friends on a bunch of different worlds, can all guest together on one world without leaving their home world behind. So you can all play together on one world without having to transfer.

And think about this. If your world is feeling dead or you aren’t finding anyone to play with, you can guest about to different worlds to see how they are. This allows you to preview worlds before transferring. Saving you money and time instead of blindly transferring to a world without any knowledge of what will be there.

Sorry but guesting is going to be awesome to say the least.

It is nice that they are making them more available, but just remember that it is only rings and amulets. And they don’t have infusion slots. Infused Ascended items can only be obtained through Fractals. Which should be okay since you are only wanting the stats anyways (of course you’ll miss out on the extra stats from infusions though).

But the Ascended back slot is still Fractals only. So you’re going to have to do Fractals to get that still.

Ascended items from the Laurel system WILL have an infusion slot, they are only missing the built in Agony resist.

Whats with the Cosmetic Grind crying?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Whether its available just in fractals or not its still vertical progression and still against their original manifesto.

It’s not. Tomorrow they’re allowing people not running fractals to get ascended gear and then they’re going horizontal from there.

Colin said no power creeping in 2013 and I think 2014 is about right for an expansion, so it sounds like power is effectively plateau’ed and there’s no vertical progression.

I was also extremely suspicious when they announced the ascended tier, but it turns out that it is exactly what they said: a new tier of rarity to make the bridge between exotics and legendaries. Exotics are stupidly cheap to craft while legendaries cost 2,500 gold in the BLMK.

You can only get Ascended Rings and Amulets (sort of) from the new token system from daily/monthly achievements. Except these “Ascended” items don’t have any infusion slots. They are just stats. Meaning you still have to do Fractals to get Infusion Ascended items. And the Ascended back slots are still Fractals only. You can’t get those outside of Fractals.

And they said they will not add a new tier this year. They will continue to add the rest of the Ascended gear, but no new tier this year. And they also said they are going forward with Vertical Progression. So that means more tiers in the future. Meaning this isn’t the only tier and it will not plateau.

Character transfer question

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Your bank, yes. Your guild bank, no.

If you transfer off a world, you leave the stuff attached to that world behind. Your bank is attached to your account/character. That comes with you. Your guild on the other hand, is attached to that world as there is multiple people attached to it.

So like I said, bank yes, guild no.

Whats with the Cosmetic Grind crying?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

When you think about it, they have a point though.

What was GW2 advertised as? A cosmetic game. No need to chase gear treadmills and fight for that next highest stat point. Everything was cosmetic in GW2. It was advertised as no grind, having only cosmetic options so you didn’t feel left behind.

That is exactly the thing though. In other games, the grind is for the next highest stat. That is how those games work. They keep putting new tiers and higher levels for you to grind out the next point that will make you stronger.

GW2 isn’t like that though. It is a game based off of cosmetics only. So there is no farming for the next highest stat. You play to get cosmetics and to make yourself pretty. That is the point of this game. It is just like other games, but you work for cosmetics.

Now in a game that prided itself on no grind, there is a lot of grind in the main aspect of the game. A cosmetic grind, which is what GW2 is all about. Cosmetics. So when people say, “It’s only cosmetic, you don’t have to do it”, they forget that there is nothing else to do in this game if you are not grinding for cosmetics. Everything in GW2 is cosmetic. That is the main focus.

So naturally, people are going to complain about the main focus of the game being a grind, after it was advertised as no grind.

And also – Ascended Gear.

The whole “only cosmetic” argument just went out the window with the Lost Shores update.

Very true and I forgot to mention that as well.

Still, the rest of the game is cosmetic. Currently, there is only one area of the game that is a stat grind and that is Fractals.

But my point still stands. The game was advertised as a no grind game. This game is a pure cosmetic game. So when you advertise a no grind game in a purely cosmetic game, it should be expected that cosmetics are not a grind. Since that is the main focus of this game.

How about skipping level 1-30?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I know what the devs said. I’m telling you that’s not the reality.

That chart is an accurate representation of the experience required at every level of the game. It was taken directly from the GW2 wiki, using data taken from players who took note of the experience required at every single level of the game. The curve most certainly does NOT plateau at any stage of a character’s development.

Wait, did you just say that the developers, the people who made and designed this game, don’t know what they are talking about? And they don’t know how their own system, the one they designed and created, works?

You better have a lot of proof to back up such a claim. And I don’t just mean some numbers and charts. Sorry, but I’m going to believe the creators of the game over a stranger on the forums. Unless they state otherwise.

Branded enemies attacking Queensdale?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

It’s probably like when I’m playing D&D and the party is being attacked by Drow, but we only have three Drow miniatures so we have to use all Gnolls and Lizardmen as placeholders because we’ve got like a hundred of those.

Somewhere in Vigil HQ there’s a dude with all the Bandit and Centaur figurines hidden under his bed, and he takes them out at night and makes them fight while he makes “PCHOO! PEW PEW! ARRRGH!” noises under his covers, but none of the other soldiers bunking in that room want to say anything about it because he’s a giant Charr covered in body jewelry made out of pieces of shrapnel he just never bothered to have removed. So then High Command is all “shoot, we’ve got a million of these Branded figurines, but we only actually use them for three or so maps on the far side of the world from Divinity’s Reach. Screw it. So this huge purple crystal devourer is Minister Caudecus, right…”

Dear goodness, I hope that is true. I seriously want this put in the game. lol

Or alternatively, they can just remove the level curve and make it even for all levels.

Right now, there is a level curve from 1-30. Once you hit 30, it flattens out. I have no idea why they did it that way, as it doesn’t make a lot of sense in my opinion.

They just need to flatten out all leveling and remove the curve completely. Then 1-30 will be the same as 30-80. Then it won’t seem as tedious.

Er, that’s incorrect.

The leveling curve is actually closer to a quadratic curve than anything else, it does not “flatten out” at Lvl 30.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/thumb/8/8f/GW2_ExpPerLevel.png/800px-GW2_ExpPerLevel.png

Sorry, but you’re incorrect.

http://www.arena.net/blog/progression-and-leveling-in-guild-wars-2

Our goal with Guild Wars 2 is to flatten out the leveling curve, keeping progression simple and straightforward.

Update: We got a number of questions regarding our graph, so we’re updating it to make it a little more clear. It was not our intention to imply that the early levels of the game require the exact same time investment as later levels, but to show that the curve plateaus.

Hopeful return, Ascendent Gear questions.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

From my understanding, when the new patch hits, you can get Ascended Rings from a new token system that works off your daily/monthly achievements.

You can also get “sort of” Ascended Amulets now from daily/monthly achievements with the new token system. The reason I say sort of, is cause they are not infused Amulets. From what I read, you can only get infused Amulets from Fractals. I am unsure if the Rings are going to be the same as well.

The Ascended back items are still Fractals only.

The time to get them is RNG based as always. Hasn’t changed from what I’ve read. You could get them instantly, or it could take you weeks. All RNG still.

You can’t get Ascended items from W3 yet, except via the Achievement Laurels (token system) for dailies and monthlies (not sure if it counts PvP Achievements, although I don’t see why not).

Hope that helps.

Why do Anet want to restrict us?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Wow, she’s as ugly on the outside as she is on the inside.

That’s just mean and out and out rude.

If she has done something detrimental to the development of the game i love, then i would like to see exactly what it was she did with some sort of link or proof other than conjecture and inappropriate comments about someones physical appearance.
————————————————————————————————————————————————
SpyderArachnid; thank you for your post you made, i was busy typing mine when you posted yours.

If that’s the case i would love to see actual statements or proof, but i can see why some players might want to lay blame on her.

There is no actual “proof” or statements of what exactly she has done, because Anet doesn’t release that information.

But, she is in charge of the gem store. And everything about the gem store. Lottery, RNG, etc is all her doing. Never had that stuff before till she came along.

The dye system is another example of her work. Originally we had account bound dyes. All dyes were accessible on your entire account, not bound to just one character. Then they were changed to character only and then we couldn’t trade them anymore either (which they later changed to make them tradeable again). This was an obvious money grab to get us to buy dye packs.

Now there is several things being done to the game that players feel are a push to the gem store. Like drops rates being nerfed, farming being nerfed, DR, hard to make gold, etc etc. Nerfs constantly coming to any form of money making to make us spend real money for gems and trade them into gold to make any money.

The reason why people connect this all to her, is because none of this was happening before she joined. It wasn’t until after she joined Anet that all these thing started happening. Guild Wars 2 went from being a AAA MMO, to a F2P grinder MMO.

She is why!

http://www.giochimmo.it/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/MG_0755-copia.jpg

Here is Anet’s wallpaper.

Gratz Crystin on destroying Guild Wars. What’s next? Give me advance warning of games not to touch!

I consider myself a pretty big fan of GW2, and i am pretty vocal about some of the bad decisions Anet has made, but can you link me something as to what this lady has done to put GW2 in the current state it is in ?

I do not know who she is and why you might think she is responsible for some of the kitten ideas we have had to deal with.

Thanks for the link if you post it.

That woman in the pictures is Crystin Cox. A new (kind old now) employee of Anet. She’s from Nexon and works with the gem store.

From my understanding, Guild Wars 2 became a completely different game once she joined the team. Thus why there has been so many nerfs to things, lower drop rates, lottery in the gem store, all the restrictions and such, etc. All to make us spend more money. Guild Wars 2 was originally a game that stayed true to itself, and once she arrived, the game went a completely different direction then what it was sold as.

A lot of people are putting the blame on her as to why Anet did a 180 on their Manifesto and are changing things to “force” us to spend more money. At least, that’s my understanding of it all.

I have no idea why it keeps doing this. I can’t be invited to groups, only option I have is Join. This has been happening for a long time now, but now it is really bothering me.

Shield wise, the Pact Tower Shield is the biggest one I’ve seen. Might be others, unsure.

As for Pistol and Rifle, unsure on those. A pistol person myself, but I use a Krytan Pistol which is a pretty decent size.

Scamming and you

The only way I can see you being scammed (since you didn’t provide the information), is by mail. You sent something to someone and were supposed to get something in return, but you didn’t get it. This is simply an issue of trust.

In GW1, they did something about it because there was no trading post. There was only player to player trading. The only way you could obtain goods was by trading. In GW2, we have the trading post.

Now I hate to sound like a downer or conspiracy theorist, but this is the catch and probably why they won’t do anything about it. (prepare your tinfoil hats)

They want you to use the trading post. Because they get to charge you for selling and buying items. The listing fee is their way of getting something out of your trades. So they won’t implement player to player trading or support mail trading, much less take action against being scammed as such. They want to encourage you to use the trading post for safer transactions, which in the process, makes you give them money.

Sorry for the conspiracy theory, but that’s the only reason I can think of. :P

Roughly translated: The TP is a goldsink and is good for the game.

Mail scams are an issue between the two people involved, ANET have to responsibility in my opinion.

Yeah but my post was more on the lines of, why we can’t have player to player trading and why we don’t have C.O.D. as an option in the mail. Also why they won’t support it or take action.

In other games, they have a trading post with a fee (same as GW2 has right now), but they also have player to player trading and the option for C.O.D. in your mail. Many ways to trade between players that are perfectly viable. Yet Anet won’t give us those options even though they would prevent these kind of things from happening. They want us to use the trading post only and won’t support any other kind of trading.

Mounts? (what is classified as a mount)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

The Guild Wars 2 world has only basic background lore in common with GW 1. There are no firearms, open world, swimming, underwater combat, jumping, and more skills, a different skill bar, secondary professions etc etc in GW1.

Why use mounts as there are waypoints. Why use guns as there are bows and staffs. The Guild Wars 2 world has many options and fast mounted travel makes sense as one of them purely because it can open zones up to traffic from people rushing around and maybe stopping for events.

As for waypoints being a money sink, so can mounts be if Anet so want them to be.

But why would I want to mount up to run to an event, when I can just waypoint there and get there faster? If I have to ride there on my mount, I might miss the event cause I have to dodge mobs and deal with terrain. Instead, I find the nearest waypoint, and bam, I’m there. Using a mount in that situation would hinder you, not make it easier.

And don’t give Anet ideas on more gold sinks lol. That’s all we need:

“Introducing mounts! For those who don’t like waypoints, there is a slower method of travel you can take! It only costs 100g and then 1 silver will be deducted from your inventory every 10 feet you travel to make up for the cost of you not using waypoints.”

Yeah, no.

Mounts? (what is classified as a mount)

so having a mount with 33% movement speed will make the world smaller but running with a 33% movement speed doesn’t?

i hope to one day hear a logical argument against mounts, because up to now i have not heard a single one.

The only logical reason as to why people are against mounts, is cause one, they weren’t in GW1 so they shouldn’t be in GW2 (which isn’t very logical). And secondly, the big one, we have a waypoint system instead (which isn’t much better cause of costs).

When you look at it from a GW1 player’s perspective, they see things as it was in GW1. Lore or just game wise, Tyria has never had people riding on mounts. In other games, they see the harm that FLYING mounts cause and they reject any form of mount because of that. Ground mounts aren’t an issue as a regular speed boost will do the same thing that a ground mount can do. Just a ground mount has more flare.

The other thing, is we already have a waypoint system. The downside to this though, is the costs. With Waypoints, you have to always pay money to travel around, and it can get pretty darn expensive when you reach the higher levels (3-5 silver a waypoint). For some, this actually deters them from going out in the world cause they don’t want to pay the costs to port around. But then you have mounts. They are a one-time charge and then you can use it to go anywhere. It gets you around a bit slower than a waypoint would, but it is free of charge after the initial purchase. So no more wasting money to waypoints at the sacrifice of convenience.

But I think that is the issue. They use these waypoints as a gold sink (among the tons of gold sinks already in this game). If they released mounts, players wouldn’t need to pay to travel anymore as they can just purchase a mount and ride that everywhere. The only time they would pay is to switch maps.

So currently the only “logical” reason as to why we don’t need mounts, is because we already have the waypoint system. It makes mounts obsolete. Think of it this way. Mounts are an outdated form of travel. We have advanced to a waypoint system that gives instant teleportation. Why use an outdated form of transportation when we have a better more efficient one?

For everyone saying that Fractals introduced item progression (I think I hear some people saying that), I don’t think we should so readily dismiss the fact that Anet stated prior to the game even launching that there would be level increases beyond 80 for expansions. This should have been the warning/notice to anyone who cared that item progression was part of the initial design philosophy.

There is one big difference here though. Level increase was expected. Before release they stated that they will probably increase the level cap. Which as we all know, means new gear for when the level cap increases. Note, I said when the level cap increases (can’t stress that enough). So we expected a new tier, but only when the level cap increased.

Then after release (November patch), they released a new tier without a level increase. So while we were all expecting a new tier, we were not expecting a new tier without a level increase. They never said anything before release that they would introduce new tiers. They only said they would increase the level cap (which would mean a new tier, but only when they increase the level cap).

Why only weapons?

There is also the Halloween back piece that is a flaming book that lights everything around you.

But I think they are trying to get away from the “WoW-esque” look. With WoW, you have these extravagant shoulders that have molten lava or glowing orbs floating about with lightining striking around your face. Just seems way more dangerous than practical to be wearing those. In actuality, they would offer less protection and provide a hazard to wearing them.

So they are trying to take a more natural approach to armor so it doesn’t seem like it would cause more harm to wear it than any actual protection.

At least, that’s my thought on it.

May I add that this thing which is advertised now is actually named “riding broom”?

Yes we know that, but the title of the thread is about already existing mounts and it talks about how the Witch’s Outfit gives you a mount.

This is not about the Riding Broom to be introduced on the 28th.

Haha, someone’s grasping at straws here.

There is a difference between using something for its intended purpose and abusing something. You want to mount your cat, by all means, please do so. Better be one big kitten cat.

But see, that’s what you’re are doing basically. You’re putting an item that is not intended to be a mount, into the mount category, just like I did.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Enchanted_Broom

This is what comes with the Witch’s Outfit. It is not called Riding Broom, or Flying Broomstick or anything that relates it to a mount. Yet because it is capable of being ridden temporarily, you classify it as a mount.

Same thing I just did. A Chair is in no way related to a mount. Yet because it is capable of being ridden temporarily, I classified it as a mount. How is that any different?

The thing is, it is a toy weapon. It has 4 out of 5 skills for costume brawl. Just because one skill lets you ride it temporarily doesn’t mean it is automatically a mount. It’s intended purpose is to be a toy weapon for costume brawls. Yet you label it a mount because of one ability that is not it’s intended overall purpose.

You ride it. It is therefore a mount.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/mount?s=t

“a horse, other animal, or sometimes a vehicle, as a bicycle, used, provided, or available for riding.”

The broom is a mount by pure definition of the word “mount” in the english language. Cosmetic or not is not important, it is still a mount.

Learn the language you speak, people.

Regardless… you’re technically not riding anything. You’re still walking, but with a different animation. The walk/run key still functions even. :P

Is this a car?

Car =/= mount.

By definition, that is not a car. It does classify as a mount, however, because it has a child riding it. Doesn’t matter how it’s powered. Whether it has legs of its own, runs off of a motor, or is powered by your own legs. A bicycle is still considered a mount, and by this logic, so would this.

So by your logic, a chair is a mount. Because I can sit in it and move it with my feet, thus powering it right? That means a desk is a mount, my cat is a mount, a pillow is a mount, a laundry basket is a mount, etc etc.

So obviously anything that I can slide around on is a mount. Good to know.

Have you thought that maybe you are in a burnout stage of gaming or MMOs in general?

I remember when I first started Rift during it’s Beta. I was so excited to try it out the first time, but once it released and I hit around level 30, I didn’t want to log in anymore. I loved the game though, but I just couldn’t bring myself to play it.

Came to realize my issue was not with Rift, but with MMOs in general. I had been doing nothing but playing MMO after MMO with nothing else in between. Just straight up burned myself out on MMOs, so when one came out that I was waiting to play, I wasn’t that excited about it cause of burnout.

Maybe take a long break for a bit from either gaming (if you are a heavy gamer) or from MMOs in general? If it’s MMOs, try a different game all together. Something away from the multiplayer aspect and fantasy aspect. If it’s gaming in general, go do something that doesn’t involve your computer at all. Read a book, paint a picture, learn an instrument, etc.

That is the only thing I can think of what could be causing it. You say you love the game but can’t play past the tutorial. It just seems like burnout to me. Try taking a break for a bit. See if it helps.

Haloween/Wintersday skins. Same next year ?

I’m just going to assume that since the skins are still craftable and people are still selling them in large quantities, that they won’t be coming back.

Using GW1 as an example, they offered new things each year. So I’m assuming we’ll be getting new items this year instead of the same old ones that we already got.

I think Spyder is arguing just to argue. I like to keep it simple, if you mount it, its a mount.

Not the case, sorry. Just someone would rather be stubborn and insist that a skill is a mount no matter what anyone else says.

As for the definition linked above, I’m talking about video game mounts, not real life mounts. The broom is not a mount compared to the definition of a video game mount.

In every game out there, mounts are their own item. You click it, and you get a permanent mount that increases your speed. It is its own separate item that can be used at any time.

The broom, is a weapon for costume brawls. It has one skill out of five that allow you to sit on it for 3 minutes temporarily. It moves at regular speed. And the only way you can use it is if you are in Town Clothing only.

Sorry but that is not a mount. One skill on a town clothing item that is temporarily is not a mount by video game standards.

Builds that suddenly made a class fun

When I first got my Engineer to 80, I ran with turrets and pistol and shield. It was alright, I wasn’t too fond of it, and realized I wasn’t doing much in the way of damage. Felt rather useless to me and weak.

So during the gear up process of running dungeons, someone told me to use Grenade Kit. Now I was still kind of new to Engineer and didn’t use kits at the time cause they confused me. Thought it was all about turrets and such.

So I went ahead and tried out the Grenade Kit and dear goodness, it made me fall in love with Engineer. Refunded my traits and set them for big bangs, and it brought a smile to my face. Now I love playing my Engineer.

Just hoping that this nerf that is coming to AoE won’t make me have to shelf them.

Grinding: A Clarification

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I think you might of misread some things.

Anet actually said “We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that, no one finds it fun.”. They never said you don’t have to grind and grind is optional. They straight up said we don’t want you to grind. Which is exactly what we are doing regardless if it is cosmetic or not.

They also said “Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward.”. Which is stating that GW2 is not about grinding for fun (cosmetic) rewards. Which again, is what we are doing.

Yet everything in the game goes against those statements completely. We are grinding for fun rewards. And if they didn’t want us to grind like they said, then why do they keep implementing grinds? It is the complete opposite of what was said.

They state that they don’t want us to grind and that GW2 is not about grinding for fun rewards. Yet they keep adding grinds whether cosmetic or not. It goes against everything they said, thus why players are complaining.

Camera Angle Issues (adjustments needed)

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I think one of my biggest issues right now with GW2, is the camera angle. Instead of having one set angle for all races, it changes and makes it awkward for different races while other races look just fine.

For instance, my Norn’s camera sit perfectly when zoomed (First picture). The feet line up nicely right on top of the UI and leave plenty of space on the sides and top to see what I am doing.

But on my Human (Second picture), using the same zoom setting, my Human sits in the center of the screen with barely any space on the sides, bottom, and top to see what is going on.

I wish all races used the same camera angle when set to the same zoom distance. It is very obtrusive on my Human compared to my Norn to see my Human sitting dead center while my Norn sits perfectly.
