Actually noticed this as well.

Got a Master Mining Pick from my Personal Story and went to use it, and got ruined ore. Switched back to my Orichalcum Pick, and started getting Ore again.

Thought the Master Mining Picks were supposed to be the best Picks?

You truly think that someone deserves a 72h ban because you got offended by something they said?

There’s a difference between using offensive language, and making a personal attack with offensive language.

If someone is using profanity in chat in a general sense, that’s fine. But if they are slinging insults at you with profanity in chat, then it becomes an issue.

I disagree. Unless they are actively harassing you, a block is more than enough.

Whether you disagree or not, it is a violation of the rules that you agreed to. Thus it is an issue and needs to be reported.

So I can’t show my opposition to said rule in a thread about said rule?

And not every issue needs to be reported, specially of this kind. It’s based on someone’s feelings being hurt, which is akittenstupid reason to ban someone when there are better methods to deal with it.

When that person is banned for violating the rules, then it is far from stupid. You break the rules, you pay the consequences. Doesn’t matter what rule it is, you are still breaking the rules.

Blocking someone doesn’t solve anything. They will continue to do those actions against other players and think it is perfectly fine to keep breaking the rules. Banning them for their actions shows them that it won’t be tolerated and gives them time to think about not doing that again.

Do you seriously think that every rule is perfect and must be followed?

Also, blocking solves it because it is YOU who are offended. If you stop the attack against YOU, YOU have no reason to report it. If you are going to base the report on what that person might do to others, might as well ban every player.

I never said they were perfect. But we agree to follow those rules when we log in. Whether perfect or not, we signed a contract stating we would follow them.

And again, blocking doesn’t solve the issue. That is like saying blocking a gold spammer solves all the problems with gold spamming. It doesn’t. Reporting someone for breaking the rules solves the problem. It enforces the rules we agreed to upon that person so that they are punished for their actions.

It’s like saying, if you see someone murdering another person, are you just going to ignore it or call the police? Does ignoring it solve the problem? No. He will keep killing. But if you call the police, they will go after the man and catch him. Stopping him from doing it again.

Town Clothing Ideas

in Suggestions

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

So this is just some ideas of mine for Town Clothing. Feel free to add your own if you so choose to. Hopefully this will give Anet some insight as to what styles we are all looking for.

Different Underwear Choices
Now I know what you’re thinking. But there is a logical reason for this, trust me. When our armor breaks, it vanishes. So we end up running around in our underwear for a limited time till we get it repaired. I see it a lot mostly in dungeons when people forget to repair after a wipe, and end up topless/bottomless. So, why not give us different underwear choices so we all aren’t wearing the same odd yellow underwear? Maybe some smiley face boxers, or Juicy shorts (kidding, but just some funny ideas). In all actuality, would like to see some different styles though (long johns, corset and stockings, boxers/briefs, gowns, etc) or even just different color choices.

NPC outfits
So many different NPC outfits, that aren’t available to us. For instance, the Mesmer trainer in Divinity’s Reach. This is one that I want for my Mesmer majorly. It would fit perfectly. When I first saw the render for it on the wiki before release, I instantly fell in love with it. Yet I can’t get it in game which saddened me. Another is Queen Jennah’s outfit, which is also worn by many Nobles in the game as well. Bandit outfits are awesome and would love some of them too, but these are just some ideas.

Holiday outfits
I remember GW1 costumes for the Holidays. Tons of awesome designs. This is probably an obvious thing they have planned, but just wanted to mention it anyways. Am definitely looking forward to Halloween costumes come October, and then some cute Christmas outfits come December. Would even be neat to see some Pilgrim/Indian style outfits for November, but that probably won’t happen. Of course I don’t want to be biased towards certain holidays, but am looking forward in general to holiday costumes.

Armored Glasses
This isn’t really a Town Clothes thing, but wanted to bring this up anyways. In GW1, we had glasses we could wear in combat (Asuran glasses made in Rata Sum). I am hoping that we can get the current glasses we have in the Gem Store, to be transmutable onto Armor instead of just Town Clothes. The reason behind this, is just common logic. If I needed glasses to see, why would I only wear them in town, and not in combat when I need them the most? Glasses would make sense to wear anytime as you need to be able to see what you are doing in combat. I know the whole “Don’t compare fantasy to reality” argument will pop up, but just thought it would be nice.

Well those are some ideas I can think of at the moment. Hopefully they don’t sound too far fetched and seem reasonable. Thanks for reading and happy gaming all.

There is race-themed areas, but not specific race areas except for starter areas and usually the 15-30 zones afterwards. The rest of the areas are mostly mixed or centered around a specific race. But each race doesn’t have their own personal 1-80 zones specifically.

ANet does not allow third party programs. However, if you have a suggestion for something, you can take it to the suggestion portion of the forums.

This is not entirely true. Anet DOES allow Third-Party Programs. As long as they don’t automate, bot, alter game files, give an advantage, or effect other people’s game play.

Such as Texmod/Umod is allowed. There is even a Combat Mode that makes the combat like Tera’s combat (with the crosshair and everything).

So because they resemble one type of quest in another MMO, means they are instantly just like every quest in another MMO? Like I said before. Questing in another MMO IS your source of experience when it comes to leveling. Renown Hearts in GW2, are NOT your source of experience when it comes to leveling. They serve different purposes.

In GW2, Renown Hearts are there to lead you to events happening in the world. They don’t provide you with sufficient experience to be considered viable for leveling off. Unlike questing in other MMOs that your main source of experience is from questing.

I’m sorry but… your argument is that Renown Hearts aren’t quests because they reward negligible experience.

They’re functionally almost identical to quests in any other MMO, ASIDE from the lack of experience. They have you pursuing the same game play. AT BEST… they’ve managed to roll up courier and grind quests into a single, neat, little package.

You’re making a really weak case for the difference between Renown Hearts and quests right now. I hope you know that ;P

lol not really a weak argument, it is just you aren’t seeing the big picture and only looking down through a scope of what you want it to be and not what it is.

Sure they have similar objectives. You collect a bunch of quests in a quest hub, and go kill 10 of this and go collect 10 of this. Then turn them in for your xp. You go to the area of a Heart and kill 10 of this and collect 10 of this. Then you get rewarded some xp.

But what you seem to be missing is, Hearts are not your main source of progression. In other MMOs, quests are your main source of progression. In order to get the best xp while leveling, you have to do quests to progress. In GW2, Hearts are not your main source of progression. In order to get the best xp while leveling, you can’t rely on Hearts to progress. They are not your source of experience like in other MMOs.

If anything is comparable to quests in other MMOs, it is Dynamic Events, not Renown Hearts. I’ll agree that Dynamic Events are similar to traditional questing, just they are more interactive and a lot more funner than reading quest text. But that doesn’t change the fact that they are still like traditional questing because they are your main source of progression.

Would be Guardian then. They have higher survival rate in melee than others, since taking them down fast is not your concern.

Otherwise Thief is great for burst damage to take down fast and evade attacks, and Warrior is just a powerhouse that can take down fast with enough survivability to last as long as you can take them down fast.

SpyderArachnid.5619

One thing you seem to be forgetting. Renown Hearts are not quests.

In other MMOs, Quest are your source of experience when it comes to leveling. The bulk of your experience comes from doing quests and the mobs you have to kill for those quests. When you go to a quest hub, you pick up say 5-6 quests. Go kill 10 of this, go collect 10 of this, go talk to this person, etc. Now you go kill those mobs which give you a lot of experience, and you turn in those quests for even more experience. This is how you progress in other MMOs.

Renown Hearts on the other hand, are not reliable sources of experience. Neither are the mobs you have to kill. It is not a viable way of leveling up. They are guides to lead you to Dynamic Events. When you reach a Renown Heart, it has options for you to complete it. Go kill 10 of this, collect 10 of this, etc etc like before. But when you go do those objectives, the experience you earn is barely enough to progress. Even after you finish the Renown Heart, you are rewarded barely any experience for it.

So no, Renown Hearts are not comparable to questing in other MMOs. They are not your source of experience like quests are in other MMOs. They are guides to lead you to Dynamic Events, with tasks to do along the way. They offer a sub par reward which isn’t enough to progress with, unlike questing in traditional MMOs where the reward is plenty enough to progress.

I’m sorry but… there are quests in other MMOs that fill this purpose as well There are courier quests, and “go speak to this person” quests layered in that fill precisely the same purpose, and offer diminished rewards for exactly the same reasons: because they’re simply guide quests.

So yes, Renown Hearts are quests.

So because they resemble one type of quest in another MMO, means they are instantly just like every quest in another MMO? Like I said before. in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

It would be nice, but this is kind of the reason they don’t want an RP world.

They don’t want the responsibility of policing one. RP servers in general come with a lot of rules that regular servers don’t. They don’t want to do the effort of enforcing those rules for just one or two servers.

That is what was said in an interview about RP worlds from Anet. As much as I would love an official RP world, sadly it won’t happen cause Anet doesn’t want the hassle of dealing with it.

Cultural Armor price

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

They are rather expensive for just rares. If they were exotic, sure I would understand. But for just being rares, not even max armor, then they are overpriced.

I know people are going to say they are cosmetic and meant to be hard to get, but they have stats. If they were just cosmetic, they would just be skins. They wouldn’t have stats on them. So to me, they are regular gear. Way overpriced non-max regular gear.

But even with stats they are not regular armor. They are armor style that you cannot get anywhere else. Not only that, but they are also restricted to your race. So they are nothing like regular armor. The stats are only a bonus since maybe you wont need to transmute them right away. You get cultural armor for the look only. There’s no other reason to buy cultural armor than for their look. If I wanted the stats instead of the look I would have spent 40 silver on TP instead of 6 gold on npc.

You could use that same argument with Vigil armor as well. They have stats, you can’t get them anywhere else, and they are restricted to members of the Vigil only. They are nothing like regular armor. Yet they are way cheaper than Cultural Armor.

If we wanted to use your version, then people buy Vigil armor for the look as well, not the stats. Yet it is much cheaper than Cultural armor that has similar restrictions. So why is Cultural armor over 100+ gold, when Vigil armor is only around 7 gold?

Expansion Pack question for GW1 players

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

GW1 did Campaigns. The only Expansion they released was Eye of the North, which added onto Prophecies. Factions and Nightfall were separate Campaigns. Basically like an entirely new game, added onto the main game.

The way they worked, they introduced an entirely new continent. Everything you had in the main game, you had in the Campaign but in an entirely new setting. All new areas for all levels, like as if it was a new game completely with the same mechanics.

They didn’t have different races then, so it was just new professions (classes) that were added. Like with Factions, you got the Ritualist and the Assassin. With Nightfall, you got the Dervish and the Paragon. Everyone was Human.

Campaigns also had new weapons, new armors, new skills, a whole entire new continent to explore, new titles and even skill based titles, etc etc.

Now with Eye of the North, which was an actual Expansion, the only new things you got were new Heroes (Computer AI party members which we don’t have in GW2 anyways), new weapons and armors, new areas to explore, new PvE titles and PvE title skills (skills that got stronger the higher your rank your title was) and a new story that started the Elder Dragons off. Eye of the North also introduced the Hall of Monuments for people to earn rewards in GW1, for rewards in GW2.

So it all depends on if we are getting Campaigns, or Expansions.

Like in GW1, you had Campaigns. Meaning whole new continents to level up in from 1-80. Not just one new area that you can level 1-15, then go back to doing old content again. Something like how Factions and Nightfall were.

And I do hope it will be Cantha. Always loved Cantha and think it’s about time the Kurzicks made their comback.

Dye soulbound

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Question is, are you going to use 400+ dyes on that one character? Especially on all characters? Probably not.

Each character will probably have a theme. For instance, whenever I find pinks or purples, I use them on my Mesmer. If I find greens or browns, I use them on my Ranger. I won’t ever use greens and browns on my Mesmer cause it just doesn’t suit them (in my opinion). So it wouldn’t make much sense to have those colors in the first place on them.

There is currently(?) no achievement for having every dye in the game, so there is no worry to make sure you collect them all. Just get the colors that suit your character. And dyes are pretty cheap at the moment as well, so if you want say Red on every character, it won’t cost you much.

Gear in other games?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I think it’s about the same in other MMO’s actually… which sucks because GW2 was advertised as being different and not having gear grind.

It is actually much different in GW2 than it is in other MMOs.

In GW2, you can craft your “endgame” gear. You can run dungeons and get tokens to buy your endgame gear. Or you can get your endgame gear from simple drops.

In other MMOs (we’ll use WoW as an example) it is much different. Say in WoW, once you hit 85, you start with Normal Dungeons to get decent gear. Then you have to do the Heroic versions of those dungeons to get the next tier of gear. Then it’s off to Raiding. You have to start with the normal mode raid first (usually 10 man as you won’t be geared for 25 man), and farm that for epics to be able to start on the 25 man version. THEN you have to move onto Heroic versions of the raids. Heroic normal mode to get that gear, and then onto heroic 25 man to get the best gear.

In games like WoW, you can’t craft endgame gear. You don’t get endgame gear from world drops. You can’t run dungeons to get endgame gear either. You have to follow the tier system to gear up. Dungeons, Heroic Dungeons, Normal 10M Raid, Normal 25M Raid, Heroic 10M Raid, and then Heroic 25M Raid.

So it is very much different from obtaining gear in GW2.

Waypoint costs

in Suggestions

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

What bothers me most about this, is the cost increase.

Say from point A to point B. The exact start and finish waypoint for each level.

At level 10, it is a few coppers to go from A to B. At level 50, it is probably a silver or more to go from A to B. At level 80, it is around three silver to go from A to B.

Why? Why is the price going up the higher level I go? It is the exact same path no matter what level I am, so why are you charging me more and more the more I progress? It makes absolutely no sense at all.

Always Underleveled (Not enough xp gain)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Another issue, I’m a night owl. I play at the times when barely anyone else is online. So there isn’t much in the way of knocking out Dynamic Events. So most of the time, I’m running solo cause barely anyone is around. And when you come across those elite events that require big groups, you just can’t do them. Or you come across areas that would have events, but they are on a constant farm that they never change.

Maybe that’s the problem right there. Maybe instead of increasing xp gain Anet needs to look at the frequency of dynamic events that happen outside of peak hours and the difficulty for one person or small groups.
That could explain why some are way overleveled while others are that far behind while doing all the suggested activities.

Would be interesting to know if the people that experience this are peaktime players.

That might just be my problem for all I know.

According to everyone here, they are doing exactly what I am doing, yet I am struggling to keep up. Maybe it’s my gaming hours that cause my issues.

By the time I 100% a zone, I’ve done maybe 2-3 Dynamic Events the entire zone. This isn’t because I’m ignoring them, it is because they just aren’t showing up with barely anyone around. As well, most Dynamic Events I do come across, they require a group (which doesn’t help me when barely anyone is around). I’ll see a player here and there, but barely ever. Mostly solo the whole time.

Guess the game just doesn’t cater to my hours. Or I just need to find a new World that has people on during my hours of play time.

No you aren’t exploring bob. You are running from one waypoint to another.

I’m sorry, are you sitting over my shoulder watching every move I make? Do you have psychic abilities that you can read my mind and know exactly what I am doing?

You have no place to be telling me what I am or am not doing “bob”. Would you like a screenshot of my map to show everything I had to do to get to 80?

It seems barely anyone read what I even posted.

I keep hearing the same things repeatedly, yet if you would of read what I wrote, you would see I have done exactly that. I am exploring, I am running DE’s, I am doing crafting, etc etc. I don’t PvP cause I don’t like PvP. That is the only thing I’m not doing.

Yet I am always 3-5 levels under the zone I am currently in. I’m not expecting Hearts to hold my hand and I’m not using them only to guide me through an area. Like I said, I am doing 100% map completion. My issue was I was constantly having to backtrack instead of progressing forward to get enough experience to progress forward.

But it seems everyone just read the title and automatically assumed I’m barely doing anything and expect the game to hold my hand….

If you were level 12 when you finished the area you should have went to another area that was 1-15 and so on till you felt you were in range of the other content. You are not being punished for doing “low level” content. Your xp gain is tuned to your level range for quests, gather and events. You level so quickly just by playing the game compared to other games where you are grinding to reach the next tier of content. Guild wars 2 has plenty of content filled with way to gain xp. Good luck on your adventures.

That’s the issue though. You’re not moving forward, you’re backtracking way too often. When the level requirement for an area is 1-15, and you complete the area at level 12, then you have to backtrack to make up for that loss of levels. You can’t proceed forward to 15-25 unless you backtrack to make up for the missing levels.

My issue is, you shouldn’t be backtracking. You should be constantly moving forward.

That’s strange cuz I feel I’m leveling very smoothly so far. I’m level 12 and I haven’t uncovered the whole Queensdale map yet.

I craft very often and go to every point of interest, vista and waypoint I can. Maybe that’s the difference?

Guessing you didn’t read what I wrote at all. That is exactly what I am doing. I already said I am crafting and doing 100% map completion as well.

Personally, I feel the xp gain is not enough. Everywhere I go, I am always underleveled. When I first left Queensdale, I was level 12. When I finished Kessex, I was level 20. I had to go back and do lower level content in order to get enough xp to continue on to the higher level areas.

This is after doing 100% map completion, working on crafting a bit, collecting every material I come across, doing my Personal Story when I can, even doing every Dynamic Event that spawned near me while I was out and about. Yet I wasn’t making barely enough xp to move onto the next area.

The issue I think is, nothing rewards sufficient amount of xp to progress. You are expected to do everything in order to progress. Otherwise you will always be underleveled if you miss anything. You are forced to be an explorer whether you like it or not, and forced into crafting for the extra xp, and forced to be a completionist whether you want to or not. There isn’t just one thing that will give you sufficient xp to help you along. You have to do it all.

I already have a level 80, working on leveling an alt at the moment. When I finally hit 80, I had over 60% map completion. Because I had to constantly go back and do lower level areas to get enough xp to proceed onto the next higher level area. Now, I am doing the exact same thing on my alt. Everything I did on my first 80, I have to do all over again.

There is no “go to new areas to get a new experience”, as I still have to do all those areas any ways like I did before in order to progress. I get told all the time to go do other race starter areas if I am underleveled. I thought the point of having different race areas was for a new experience with that race? Not much of a new experience if I have to do those areas on every character just to get the xp to progress.

I just feel that the amount of xp you are rewarded for doing things, should be increased by a lot. I’m almost hesitant to say that it feels like a cash grab with xp being so low, because of the new xp boosters giving 50% xp now. No one should have to be forced to do everything just to barely make enough xp to progress. I mean, I had to clear 3 15-25 areas, just to move onto a 25-30 area. Because I wasn’t making enough xp per zone to continue onto the next area. It shouldn’t be like that. You should be able to clear a 15-25 zone, and then move right into a 25-30 zone with no problems.

Craft or purchase an Invisible Bag, anything stored in it will never be sent to the collectables bank.

You are brilliant. I’ve always been frustrated that I couldn’t carry a mini pet around with me, cause it would always get sent to the collectables if I sent my other stuff.

Never thought of using an Invisible Bag. Thanks for this advice!

Karma item sell back

in Suggestions

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

So after reading a post on GW2Guru, this made some sense to me.

In WoW, when you buy something with Valor, you have a limited window time frame to sell the item back and get your Valor back. Say you made a mistake and purchased the wrong item, you can sell it back and get back your currency.

I would like to see something like this introduced with the Karma system. If you buy something with Karma, allow us to sell it back within a certain amount of time to get our Karma back.

This would help those who purchased the wrong item, or as in the poster of that thread I mentioned, be able to sell back something they didn’t mean to purchase due to lag or a quick double click without notice.

Just an idea that I thought would really help out.

Mesmer downed/drowning deception bug

SpyderArachnid.5619

It happened once doing a skillpoint as a thief and shadowstepping, so its not really a mesmer bug so much as it is a “do not let people get into non-world areas” bug ^^ however, its still an issue that can only be solved by wasting waypoint money…yup.

It’s not a matter of being teleported to a non-world area, this skill literally locks your character in place. It immobilizes you. You cannot move at all. etc etc.

You cast it, and your character is frozen. You can no longer swim to the surface or do anything else.

It isn’t teleporting you to some non-world area, it is freezing you in place.

Yeah having this same issue as well with Deception underwater.

What is really frustrating, is there was several posts on this during the betas, about how it was bugged. And just searching now for “Deception” brings up several posts again about how it is still bugged.

This was reported in every beta, yet it is still bugged. This is a major issue that still hasn’t been fixed since beta, and it is an extreme disadvantage. Nothing like having a spell that gives instant death, and then to slap you even more in the face, waypoint fees and repair fees. Can only imagine how much it sucks in PvP to have this bug still.

It doesn’t bother too much, but it is rather annoying a bit. It feels like a money grab when you make something drop in excess, yet the thing you need to open it, is a rare drop. Then they sell the item to open it “conveniently” in the cash shop.

One thing I am glad about though, is that they stack. I have a ton of these in my bank, no sense in selling them as they don’t sell for much, but whenever I do come across a key on the rare chance, I can open one in my bank.

More Town Clothing Please

So I am rather disappointed by the lack of Town Clothing.

As one of the most prestige and highly adored professions, It is unacceptable that there is no town clothing for royalty.

You have a Pirate outfit which fits the lowly street rats and a Cook outfit for our servants. The current town clothing you have provided for us is not suitable and inadequate. It is more suited to the common folk.

As a much highly regarded Noble, I insist you provide us with a worthy outfit, fit for a Queen/King. Even our very own Mesmer trainers wear suitable clothing that we cannot wear. This must be remedied. The Nobles have spoken.

Yours Truly,

Are armor skins one time use?

SpyderArachnid.5619

So I have to spent even more money to buy more gems to buy transmutation stones so I can keep my armor set. Is that what you are telling me?

If you want to spend money on transmutation stones, then sure. That is one way to do it.

But you also get Transmutation Stones from completing maps as well (especially cities as they reward nothing but transmutation stones). Also achievement completions give transmutation stones too. You also get them from your personal story.

Now this is just for the level 1-79 stones. As for 80 stones, they aren’t as easy to obtain, which is ridiculous in my opinion. I don’t even see a reason to have different level stones, much less make level 80 ones harder to obtain in the first place. It’s simple customization. I hate strict limits on something as basic as customization. Especially when you have already paid money for it.

Just transfer the appearance from your old boots, to your new boots with a transmutation stone. Your old boots retain the armor skin that you bought, so you just need to keep transferring it from piece to piece if you want to keep it.

Yeah personally, I think it sucks that you have to do it that way. You paid money for those armor skins, yet they are a one time use if you don’t keep using stone after stone on them to keep the appearance. They should of been permanent items in your inventory that you can keep using over and over since you paid real money for it.
