Perma Ban - Items gone from BLTC?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

A permanent ban does nothing to the contents of the account. All it does is prevent anyone from having access to that account (via logging in).

They won’t delete stuff from a permanently banned account as that account could be later disputed down the road and be unlocked again for use (rare, but can happen). So yes, anything that they have put up on the trading post will still be there unless Anet logs into that account and removes it.

why do people hate magic find?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Hate is a strong word, so I will just say I dislike Magic Find for pretty much the same reasons as everyone else.

You are basically being rewarded for being selfish. So while everyone is pulling 100% in the group, you are being rewarded for contributing less than they are. Which in turn, seems completely wrong and goes against everything GW2 is trying to achieve. Community is what they have claimed this game is about, yet they have a mechanic that rewards you more than others for being selfish and hindering your group. Sorry but that doesn’t scream community teamwork to me.

As well, it’s yet another lottery thing. There is no guarantee that you’ll get better loot. You just have a “chance” at getting better loot. So naturally you’re gimping your group so you can have a chance to get better loot. Yep, that is totally something that helps build a community.

Magic Find has always been a selfish stat. In any game, not just GW2. You are sacrificing your maximum potential and gimping your group for your own selfish needs. It goes against everything GW2 stands for and is completely unneeded.

Semi-off topic

The so-called “grind” is subjective. What you consider a “grind” may not be a grind to others.

Chances are, you call what you are doing a “grind” if you don’t like it, but feel forced to repeatedly do it to achieve something (in my case, Legendary), or you’re just a spoiled kid who wanted to get things as easy as he/she could.

Grinding is grinding. Whether you like it or not, doesn’t change that.

Something that is a grind is defined as doing the same thing over and over to progress. Whether you like it or not does not change the definition. It is still a grind either way.

And no reason to toss insults at people and called them spoiled kids. The suggestion presented in no way makes things easier. All it does is add variety. So instead of farming one dungeon over and over, you can farm all the dungeons over and over and get the same reward. This way you can mix things up. I don’t see how that is considered easy mode.

I was thinking the same thing as Erasculio. You mention that you enjoy the Rogue class pretty much, so why not play a Thief?

They are sort of squishy, but they are big damage dealers. They don’t work off a combo system like they do in Rift and WoW and they don’t have permanent stealth either, but they play almost the same.

Orr is empty - why?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Basically like as been said, Fractals. But also, the November Patch in general caused people to stop farming Orr.

There were nerfs to drops and to the events there. The things people used to farm, were nerfed into the ground to prevent them from farming. This in turn, made people leave Orr. As well as the introduction of Ascended gear and Fractals.

Orr used to be the place to farm Karma for the Karma gear, as it was the best way to get max stat gear in the game. And the skins weren’t bad either for some. But then Fractals released and gated people into a new tier. So naturally, they all left Orr and flocked to Fractals to farm the new content.

So now Orr is an empty zone with contested waypoints everywhere. So naturally no one wants to go there cause if you die, you are going to be doing a ton of running. And no one wants to spend all their time dealing with the tons of CC there and contested waypoints. It just isn’t worth the effort.

I do have to agree that we have way too much different currencies at the moment.

Dungeons should all have one token, instead of different ones for each dungeon. This way, you can play any and all dungeons and spend the tokens on any set you want, instead of being forced to grind one dungeon over and over for enough tokens to buy your set. If all dungeons shared the same token, we could do any dungeon we wanted for tokens to buy any set. This would reduce the the whole grind only one dungeon and allow you to spread out your dungeon runs to different dungeons.

Or as an alternative, give us a currency section in our Hero Panel like Rift does. This way our currencies don’t flood our bank and they instead go to our currency section. As shown here (the window on the right):

http://riftnerd.com/wp-content/uploads/world-event-currency-tab.png

This would save us space and keep all our currencies in one nice tidy tab.

It’s an achievement in itself. You get achievements for completing each one.

It’s all for personal satisfaction and accomplishment. You don’t need to be rewarded for everything you do in this game. Some stuff is just there for fun for you to do. You already get the experience and a chest at the end of every jumping puzzle and an achievement. What more do you want?

And with the new reward system coming, they stated that eventually in the future they are going to have all your achievement points give you medals to buy rewards. Just currently it is only dailies and monthlies that award you medals.

Look at it this way. While it says it is against the rules, don’t expect them to enforce it.

Anet doesn’t stand around scanning names all day long to find out if you are violating the rules. They kind of work off the “Good Samaritan” act. If players find a name offensive or in violation of the rules, they expect you to report the name. Only after they have received enough reports of the name in question, do they take action.

And judging by their own use of popular/trademark/copyright names, I’m pretty sure you will be safe using that name. Unless of course they want to be labeled as hypocrites for violating their own rules, but banning others for doing the same.

You can do that here, and also have the option of vertical progression.

Moving on

Not an option anymore as they have already made the statement that they are going to continue forward with vertical progression. Meaning that if you want to stay competitive, you are going to have to keep grinding out the next tier in order to experience new content in the future.

that’s pretty bad if they didn’t get anet’s permission for it.

They don’t need to have permission.

The weapons are not exact copies of the ones in GW2. They are very similar, like a cheap knockoff, but they are not the exact same.

Thus no permission is needed as they are MS’s weapons (no matter how similar they look).

knock offs are illegal…

And if you would read the whole thing instead of just skimming, you would see that I said they are LIKE knocks offs, but they are not the exact same. Please actually read before responding.

They can be as similar or almost the same as they want. As long as it is not the exact copy/replica of the one in GW2, there is no law or anything stating they can’t have it. While I admit that they are very similar and it’s kind of low for them to do such a thing, they are not breaking any laws or stepping on any toes.

knock-offs don’t have to be the exact same to be illegal.

Uh… that is what a knockoff is. A copy of a popular product at a reduced price. If it wasn’t the exact same, then it wouldn’t be a knockoff.

In your definition, that would mean everything in the world is a knockoff. Cause while they are not the exact same, they are all similar. Which is simply untrue. For something to be a knockoff, it has to be the same thing.

Cause what would be the point of buying a knockoff Gucci bag if it is different from a regular Gucci bag? Then it wouldn’t be a Gucci bag at all and be something completely different. Thus, not a knockoff. It has to be the same to be considered a knockoff.

Would you eventually get banned for this?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

It’s really a case by case basis type thing I would think.

If the guild reported him for it, I think Anet would look into it. Not sure if they would take any action as it is a player issue and not a hacking or exploit. And since he did it a month ago and still has the money, it would seem that no action was taken against him for it.

The guild trusted him enough to give him high enough status to withdrawal from the guild bank. So it is kind of on the guild leader for giving him access to all their gold. Anet really can’t do much about it as there was no scam or anything involved. It was just simply misplaced trust.

But it is a grey area really. Other games will ban the person or remove the gold for doing such things, while others will chalk it up to player error and do nothing. No one really knows for sure.

Of course Battleaxe is right up there. No doubt about that one.

As for others? I’d like to see:

-Javelins/Spears (like the ones for the Paragon in GW1)
-Scythes (of course like the Dervish in GW1)
-Bo Staffs (for melee use)
-Crossbows (even hand crossbows for dual wielding)
-Whips
-Hand Wraps (for unarmed melee combat)

As for types of existing ones, I would like to see:

-Rapiers (Need this for my Mesmer)
-Katanas
-Composite Bows
-Tower Shields
-Blunderbuss
-Lochaber Axe
-Halberds
-Partisans

And the list could go on.

I agree with how Legendaries work in GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

First off, there is nothing Legendary about Legendaries in their current state.

Won’t even get started on the ridiculous amount of materials needed for one, but the fact that it is craftable in general is not Legendary. AND to top that off, it is all RNG/Lottery based from the Mystic Toilet. Sorry but that is not Legendary.

Oh and let’s not forget that once you’ve made this so called “Legendary” weapon, you can sale it on the Trading Post for tons of gold. Meaning players can just buy a Legendary weapon for gold or whip out their wallets and spend real money on one. How is that Legendary? Sorry but going to Walmart to buy Awesome Sword of Flashiness is not very Legendary.

There is nothing Legendary about this at all.

And lastly, they are the best weapons in the game and will continue to be as well. They are not just fancy skins. You forget that Legendaries will scale to each new tier that is introduced and will always be BiS. Meaning you will never have to farm for a new tiered weapon cause your Legendary will automatically become the best tier weapon whenever a new tier is introduced. So you have a weapon that auto levels on it’s own and you think it is just a skin? It is far from that.

First off. Thats only YOUR oppinion.

Second. RNG is big part of every mmorpg out there, from loot drops, to damage, etc. In many mmorpgs you had only chance to sucesfully craft an item, so be happy you cant fail the Legendary when you have all the materials.

And by the way, who cares that you can buy a Legendary? You act like you bought 10 already

BIS? So what? You act like it takes months to obtain BIS weapon. It takes hour to craft, buy exotic 80 lvl weapon.

You are just one of these who complains, no matter when, no matter why

It’s obviously not just my opinion, as those are the main concerns that are always voiced about Legendaries.

There is a difference between RNG in other MMOs compared to GW2. In other MMOs, you are at least guaranteed something that you can use. You aren’t gambling away all your money to have a chance at something you can use like in GW2. Have you tried to make a Legendary yet? I’m assuming you haven’t cause you speak like you haven’t. Getting the materials for a Legendary is a gamble with the MF.

And buying a Legendary off the TP makes it no longer Legendary. Getting a Legendary should be a big accomplishment. Something that took you awhile and that you put effort into, not gambled for and farmed a bunch of gold for. Being able to just buy it cheapens the whole idea of a Legendary.

As for BiS, as was responding to the OP on that one. Saying it is just a skin is wrong as it is an auto-leveling weapon. I was merely stating it is simply not just a skin.

This is a concern for a lot of players, not just myself. Saying that all we are doing is just complaining is rather rude and inconsiderate. And you don’t know me, so don’t act like you do. Generalizing players and saying we just complain about everything for no reason is insulting. When a lot of players are voicing their concerns on the same thing and giving the same reasons, it is far from a simple complaint about nothing.

Has Guild Wars 2 become a grind?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Short answer, yes it has.

Long answer? Yes GW2 has become a grind.

There is one thing that players forget about GW2. Cosmetic grinding is your endgame. So when you hear people say “It’s all cosmetic. You don’t have to do it”, they don’t realize that is what GW2 is. If you are not doing a cosmetic grind, there is nothing to else for you to do.

In other games like WoW for example, you are constantly chasing the next highest stat. Games like that revolve around a stat grind to keep you playing and enjoying the content.

GW2 is the same thing. Except instead of stat grinding, you are cosmetic grinding. It is the only option for you in GW2 (well except for Ascended gear now). Everything in GW2 is a grind for cosmetics. If you aren’t grinding for cosmetics, then there is nothing else in the game to do. Titles, Achievements, World Completion, Crafting, Weapons, Armor, Legendaries, etc etc etc. They are all cosmetic things for you to do.

So when others say “It’s only cosmetic, you don’t have to do it”, they are wrong. The game is based around cosmetics and only cosmetics. If you are not doing that, then you are not doing anything and should just never play GW2.

So currently, yes. GW2 is a grind.

Tarnished Coast (the Unofficial Roleplaying Server for US) is always packed with players in all zones. Of course Lions Arch is always packed as it is the main city for all races to find groups and mingle.

But you’ll find the other cities full as well, especially Divinity’s Reach. Starter areas are pretty much always full as well, along with a few of the other lower areas. The mid level range is a bit low on population, but when you reach the higher level zones, they fill up more.

Like was said though, it really depends what server you play on.

What is wrong with nudity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Personally I don’t see a problem with this. However, if this bug get’s too well known we’ll have a situation similar to Oblivion (wherein modders could add nudity from discarded textures, so the ESRB re-rated Oblivion from Teen to Mature).

Oblivion is a bit different though as it was a single player game and any modding you did only affected you and you alone. With GW2, it was server wide. Meaning everyone was seeing it. If it was client side, then sure who cares. But it was server wide.

And people are already doing this with GW2 by the way. A little google searching will make it obvious. There is already nude patches and model swaps to have nudity. It is all client side though.

more revealing clothing?

I prefer it when women wear actual armour, not distraction chainmail bikins.

I would like to see Chainmail bikinis for under garments.

Just isn’t practical though. Have you ever worn chain mail before? It pinches. A lot. Thus why people who wear chain mail, wear something under it to prevent it from pinching their skin every time they move.

Now imagine that as underwear. Not a fun time at all. And if they wore something under it to prevent that pinching, then it would be pointless to even wear the chain mail in the first place. Especially if it is just underwear. No one wants to sleep in chain mail briefs when they have on perfectly fine regular briefs underneath.

I could understand wanting different underwear styles or the ability to dye underwear, but chain mail underwear….. I just couldn’t put my character through such torture.

more revealing clothing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Honestly, nothing. As long as it is tasteful though. When you are just showing off skin for the sake of showing off skin, then it becomes tasteless. But if it is done naturally and clean, it is perfectly fine.

Like for instance, having a female running around in stockings with a thong and garter belt, with a corset and collar is tasteless. I don’t care if there is some lore behind the outfit or it is magically enchanted. It is revealing in a bad way. But if you create an outfit with long cloth in the back and front but leave the sides open but laced up with bikini underwear underneath, it becomes tasteful. It is not so revealing to where it is obscene, but it shows enough skin to be revealing in a welcoming manor. And it is something you expect to see in a fantasy game. Unlike the other outfit which would be something you’d expect to see in a strip club.

As for Anet changing armors that were revealing before, I don’t get that either. The Arah armor was something I was working towards for my Warrior. And then they changed it, making me no longer want it. It looks weird now. I think it was fine before, but I guess someone had to complain to get it changed. Next thing we know, they change the T3 Human Cultural cause of under-breast and change the T3 Norn Cultural cause the underwear is showing.

In the end, no matter how revealing or covering an armor is, someone is going to complain about it. It seems like there is always those people who are offended by flesh and will do everything in their power to stop others from viewing it.

I miss actually playing a healer role...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

You’re talking about redesigning the entire game from the ground up just to play a healer. In all honesty, it just wouldn’t fit no matter what you do.

GW2 is designed as a visual distinction on enemy behavior. You have to actually watch the screen and pay attention to what is going on to know what is coming or what to move from. There is no cast bar or DBM telling you what to do. There is no message on your screen saying so and so is going to cast this spell.

The reason why healing doesn’t work with this, is cause playing a healing only class is a game of “play the bars”. You are no longer watching the screen for animations to see what is being done. Instead you are simply watching bars go up and down as you heal. Which goes against everything that GW2 does with combat.

And since there is no tanks to hold aggro off the healer, and you are busy watching bars go up and down instead of focusing on the fight, you are going to die a lot. GW2 is designed for equal contribution between all players. Playing a healer only goes against that as well. You would be gimping your team cause the only thing you are contributing is heals, leaving the rest of the team to do all the damage and aggro control, trying to keep everything off you, while you stare at bars the whole time.

It just doesn’t fit. Plain and simple. There is many other games to get your healer fix from.

What if Legendary Armor existed?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

The ONLY way this could be implemented, would be for a massive “quest” that encompasses everything in the game and is ONLY profession specific.

Imagine a Guardian for instance. Like the epic shield, they would have the Flameseeker Prophecies on their shoulder armor, a gleaming shine to the plate on their gear giving off a slight glow aura around them, leaving a small light blue/white trail of “glitter” or smoke when they move around. Even give it a profession specific bonus or cosmetic effect when used (right click chest armor to activate the effect when you have the whole set equipped sort of thing). Like it makes the Guardian levitate in place with a glowing aura around them (purely cosmetic of course).

I couldn’t see just a regular set of Legendary Armor for just anyone. I believe it would have to be profession specific and require that profession to go on a long journey to obtain it. Make the “quest” involve them using their skills in perfect moments and having to switch up utilities for certain moments. It would require you to have all your skills unlocked as it would make use of them all at certain times. And the “quest” would be geared towards your profession completely.

In the end of all this grueling work and dedication, you come across a tomb or something with the Legendary Armor of an unsung hero or something. You retrieve it and your journey ends. It would be a “quest” that would take you quite awhile to finish basically, but not something that is going to require you to farm materials or grind for gold for RNG luck. It would actually be something that could be considered Legendary.

But with our luck, they’ll probably make it an RNG MF thing that we have to farm mats for and play the lottery for.

The OP deserves a simple apology. There is no harm in that and nothing wrong with it. I mean heck, even support told him to come here and get one (which is rather bad that they did that instead of just apologizing themselves).

If your girlfriend cheated on you but you continued the relationship afterwards, wouldn’t you at least expect an “I’m sorry I slept with your uncle” before moving on?

What is wrong with nudity?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Honestly there is nothing wrong with nudity. At all. There is nothing sleazy about having it or anything. It’s the natural human form. I don’t see an issue with it at all.

But because of game ratings, they can’t have it if they want a game everyone can play. Adding nudity or gore to the game gives it a mature rating and that limits the players that a game can receive. Which in turn, means less money.

Of course there is always those games that show blood, gore, dismembered bodies, and all sorts of drug use and alcohol with language and those are perfectly fine. But god forbid that you show any nudity. Yes, censors are mental.

As in GW2, it just doesn’t really fit. While people work on nude patches all the time, that is the closest you’ll get to available nudity. Even games like The Secret World removed the nudity it used to have for some reason. Don’t know who all played that in beta, but back then, characters used to be nude. Now they wear underwear. Games now a days just don’t want to take those risks anymore when dealing with such a “controversal” feature. But like I said, in GW2, it just doesn’t really fit.

If it was a client side thing, hey more power to you. If you want to see people nude on your screen, good for you. It’s not my business. But with it being a server wide thing that everyone can see, it becomes an issue with other players who might take offense to that sort of thing.

January 10, 2013 Patch

Expect another vague and uninformative

Update:

We’ve updated the game to fix several exploits and bugs.

Basically going to be this. Haven’t you guys learned yet that Anet doesn’t release full patch notes ahead of time or once a patch comes out? You have to wait awhile and when it does come, it is usually rather vague like above.

Why does ascended armor need better stats?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

It basically boils down to this.

People from the traditional mindset of other MMOs complained enough that GW2 wasn’t like other MMOs, so Anet caved in to them and gave them what other MMOs already offer them instead of staying true to themselves.

So basically Anet gave a vocal minority a gear treadmill and will continue to add more tiers in the future to appease those who don’t like GW2 for what it was.

SpyderArachnid.5619

1. Removal of DR.
2. Better improved rewards for the effort you do.
3. No more RNG/Lottery.
4. Better rewards for PvP.
5. Guild Halls/improved Guild functions.
6. Guesting
7. LFG Tool (like they had in GW1).
8. “Real” Legendaries (not these grindtastic expensive weapons).
9. T3 Cultural Armor price reduction or change them to Exotic.
10. More Town Clothes (like the ones NPCs are already wearing).
11. Seasonal Town Clothes (Big coats for winter, Swimwear for summer, etc).
12. More classic Armor skins from GW1.
13. AoE Looting.
14. Name Changes (should of been introduced with Makeover Kits).
15. More emotes (even more dances available via gem store if you have to).
16. Fishing.
17. Crafting Recipes for gear instead of always tossing everything in the Mystic Forge.
18. Removal of the Mystic Forge (we have crafting for this purpose. Use it).
19. Ascended gear available outside of FotM.
20. Removal of PvP from the PvE Monthly (we have a PvP Monthly for that).
21. One Transmutation Stone for all levels (we don’t need two different ones).
22. No waypoint costs in the same map (like it is in cities, except for regular areas too).
23. Player housing (and materials to farm to craft our houses like Hearthfire for Skyrim. Maybe even toss in marriage and adoption for those that want that too).

That’s about all I can think of at the moment.

Top 10 bug/glitch and funny moment in Gw2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

The nude bug is really… WTH? hahahaha I never seen it >.<

Yeah that was caused by wearing other Cultural Armors that weren’t for your race. Say for instance you are playing a Human. People would transmute the Charr Cultural Armor onto a white item, toss it in the bank, and then hop on their Human and wear it. Since the model was designed for Charr, it showed up blank on a Human, making them revert to the default model….. which was completely nude. It was fixed though.

At OP, great list. Several of those had me laughing. Especially the stuck poses in PvP. I remember there being another video with one of those, where someone was doing an airplane motion.

Items i should keep or collect?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

Just some minor tips, that are pretty much obvious.

Just keep doing what you’re doing. Sell junk, deposit collectables, sell or salvage gear and such. A small tip that I didn’t know about till about a month ago, all that Karma gear you pick up along the way? Save it and Mystic Forge it. Since you can’t sell it or salvage it, all you can do is destroy it. Instead, toss it in the Mystic Forge. Might get something good, but either way you’ll get something you can sell or salvage at least.

Also, don’t buy stuff. I know it is hard to fight the urge to go shopping at the TP, but don’t. You’ll waste more money than you’ll obtain and find yourself short. If you need a new gear upgrade, use your karma from all the events you are doing at the heart NPCs. It saves you money and keeps you decently geared as you level.

Make sure to clear a map before moving on for the bonus rewards and xp, try to harvest everything you come across to make crafting easier on ya (don’t have to buy everything from the TP that way), if you enjoy crafting, work on that as it yields at least 10-12 levels from maxing out any craft.

Another tip is to sell your blue/green gear you don’t want on the TP. But only if it is selling for more than vendor price (including TP tax fee). That’ll help with getting money along the way. Also don’t waypoint as much. It’ll save you cash in the long run if you just run from place to place. Unless your destination is on the other side of the map, just waypoint. But if it is short distances, take a minute to just run there instead.

There is a rather extensive list in the Players Helping Players section of things you didn’t know about that is rather helpful. Hope that helps.

Promised to add in future?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Not to sound like a doomsayer or anything, but don’t believe anything that is promised until it is actually released. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. Anet has promised many things already, and we still haven’t seen them. Stuff that was promised back in beta and development that was supposed to be here on release, never showed up.

Just one example, Guesting. This was supposed to be in the game at release, and we still don’t have it. There is things that they have promised that we have never received, or things that were promised that ended up being changed afterwards.

I know I sound like a downer, but really just be satisfied with what you got now. Don’t get hyped for future content and get excited for things to come until they are actually here.

Emotes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Whoa! They did have a lot of emotes. But, surely they weren’t all there from launch.

That /aion emote sounds pretty neat. I could go for one of those.

I think you might of been looking at the list of GW1 emotes, not GW2. That Aion emote was for GW1. It was for those who bought Aion. They got a special code to use in GW1 that gave them the wings from Aion in game.

There isn’t very many emotes for GW2. There is only 19 for GW2. While GW1 had 58 emotes, WoW has 227 emotes, Rift has 90 emotes, TSW has 74 emotes, SW:ToR has 150 emotes, Tera has around 50 emotes, etc etc (from wikis, and I have way too much time on my hands).

So…. yeah. GW2 is seriously lacking in emotes compared to other games and it’s prequel.

At OP, we have no idea. Anet hasn’t said anything regarding adding more emotes to the game in the future. I would assume that emotes are a low priority for them (obviously by the severe lack of them as listed above). We’ll just have to wait and see is all.

What kinds of things do you miss from GW 1?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Probably said before, but these are easily my tops.

1. Skill Hunting: Awesome. Loved hunting for my elite skills and such. Nothing like destroying a boss and “absorbing” his power and using it for yourself.

2. Paragons: I loved Paragons in Nightfall. Ran a great Motivation Paragon that was so much fun. Would love to see this profession brought back.

3. Guild Halls: Always a given. It’s nice to have a place for your guild to congregate and socialize at. Plus it’s great for hosting guild events as well.

4. No Cost to Travel: Traveling was free in GW1. You didn’t have to pay 3-5 silver just to go somewhere. It was all free! No idea why they decided to charge for it now.

5. Cutscenes: Cinematic cutscenes with actual things happening. You walking around and actually doing things. Stuff was going on. Not this face to face chit chat and that’s it. GW1 cutscenes told a story and got you immersed. These new chit chat cutscenes are basically the same as reading quest text, with voice over.

6. Templates: These were a lifesaver. No need to go respec your traits every time you wanted to change your build (yet another unnecessary gold sink). You just saved your build into your templates and loaded it whenever you felt like switching. No cost or anything. Convenience at it’s finest.

7. Costumes: A big thing I miss. In GW1, you could wear costumes over your armor. So that fancy outfit you paid money for, you could show it off whenever. And you had costume vendors so when you purchased an outfit, it was unlocked on your account. So every one of your characters could pick up a copy of it whenever they wanted. You didn’t have to pay for another one. They charge the same price for costumes in GW2 that they did in GW1, but it is a rip off compared to GW1.

There is many other things that would fit in this list, but I’ll tone it down for now. But those are my top ones mainly.

Honestly this should of been something that came with the Makeover Kit. Seems silly to introduce a feature that allows you to change gender, but not your name.

So now we got random males running around with names like Princess Patti Cake, because they couldn’t change their name when changing genders.

So hopefully, soon.

Just don’t play GW2 like WoW. The game play style is very different. Go into GW2 with a fresh mindset and don’t carry over any old habits from other MMOs. This will help you see GW2 for what it is, and not compare it to others.

Why no story behind those legendary.

SpyderArachnid.5619

@ SpyderArachnid Legendries were about skins from the beggining, dont know what are you complaining here about Btw .. The tier is called ’’Legendary’’, not title and I think their skins are Legendary, really awesome looking weapons.

“Legendaries” will always be BiS. They will scale automatically to each new tier introduced, allowing you access to every new set of stats before anyone else. A “Legendary” weapon will always be the best weapon you can have. As well as having it, you never have to farm for the next tier of weapons, cause you will already have it.

I’d say that’s more than just a glorified skin. The thing I am complaining about is that there is no “legendary” way of obtaining them. It is simple mystic forge gambling or grinding or spend some money on the TP. Sorry but there is nothing legendary about that.

Conan didn’t go to the market to buy Atlantean did he? No. He earned it. There is a story behind it. Such is the way of a legendary weapon. It is unique and has a history. There was a journey involved in obtaining it. It shouldn’t just be something you can go to the store and buy. There is nothing legendary about that.

Is this game..dead?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

SPvP is kind of a mess right now. From my own experience, it just isn’t worth the time or effort to do.

PvP imbalance is still rather strong at the moment. Still get one to two shot by Thieves and Warriors, and arenas feel dead. I remember for a few hours I ended up in games all by myself. I ran around capping everything and just sitting there doing nothing. Or sometimes you would get a match with one other person. It is quite boring let me tell ya.

And to top it off, the reward is not worth the effort. You are rewarded a random lottery chest. So if I go in there and play my Mesmer, I expect to be able to get tokens or something to get Mesmer gear. No. I get a lottery chest that gives me random gear. Because I totally want heavy armor on my Mesmer. It is frustrating to say the least.

There is just no incentive to play it. And as well the whole not being able to go with your own party kind of ruins it as well. It should be a team thing, not let’s throw you with random people and hope for the best. That doesn’t really scream “structured”.

SpyderArachnid.5619

Sadly there is nothing legendary about “Legendaries”. They shouldn’t even be classified as Legendary weapons. They are just regular weapons with fancier skins is all.

Sorry but there is nothing legendary about them. There is no lore behind them, no epic journey to obtain them, there is nothing special about them. Just a pretty skin is all. When you can go to the TP and spend gold to buy one, they are no longer legendary. Really there is nothing legendary about spending real money on a game then buying a fancy skin from the TP. How is that legendary? It’s not at all.

They really dropped the ball on these weapons. Just from now on, think of them as overpriced skins. Because that is all they are. There is absolutely nothing that is legendary about them. They should change the name of them to something else honestly. They don’t deserve the title “Legendary”.

Perm bans for snowflake exploit kinda harsh?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

Don’t exploit and you wont get banned, pretty simple thing to live by in my opinion..

These people were fully aware they were exploiting a bug and using it to their gain, i think Anet did the right thing, people need to learn… don’t cheat don’t get banned from the game..

If you can’t see a exploit in this you need to get looked at..

It seems you are unfamiliar with what is even being discussed. You saw “exploit” and just immediately had to preach justice instead of reading what this was about I’m guessing.

There was no bug. There was no exploit either.

They crafted a ring. Salvaged the ring to get a chance at getting the gem back and a chance at an ecto. Then they crafted the ring again, and rinse and repeat. Simple regular game mechanics. No exploit, no bug.

It was Anet who made the ring only require one gem, not the players. Now players being punished cause they reused a gem to keep making a ring at a chance for ectos. When in turn, it was Anet’s fault for making the ring require only one gem. Again, no exploit and no bug.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

This is probably the only time (unless their are “incidents” like this in the future) I will agree with this situation.

First off, it wasn’t an exploit. I don’t know where they got that from, but there was no exploiting. It was clear proper game mechanics. Create item, salvage it for gem and a chance at an ecto, make item again. Rinse repeat. There was no exploit. No one was manipulating anything that wasn’t intended. It worked exactly as it should have. It was their fault for making it only cost one gem, instead of multiple gems.

And permanently banning people for doing nothing wrong, is well… wrong. Like I said, there was no exploit or any rule breaking. The players are not at fault in any way whatsoever. They used the game mechanics that were provided to them normally, without any kind of manipulation of a loop hole or anything. And now they are banned for playing the game normally, which is ridiculous.

It is Anet’s fault for implementing an item that only required a single gem so players could keep reusing the gem. Not the players. Yet the players are the ones being punished for doing absolutely nothing wrong. It’s just not right at all.
