Just like any other skin, you can keep transferring it from weapon to weapon as many times as you want. As long as you have the stones for it.

It is town clothing, not an armor skin. Meaning, you can’t apply it to your armor.

I believe the only reason why it says consumable, is cause it is like a bag or chest in a way. You get a package in the mail when you purchase it, and then double click it to get the whole outfit.

Like for instance, you can’t play Fear Not This Night as just an upper. The other notes to the main riff, are played by the medium.

Two PvP achievements, Two Bells achievements, Jumping Puzzle Achievement, and Snowmen achievement.

The others you have to wait till the events start. Then it will be one achievement per day (for each city), and then the final achievements when he reaches LA (the dungeon achievement and the toypocalypse).

Well, there is three parts to play. You have your upper part, medium part, and low part. Each have different notes than the other.

So while one may seem off, you could find it in a different part instead.

Yes, yes you do have to work hard. If you want vanity items, you have to work for them. Since it is optional and not required to play the game, it is something you have to work towards. That is how it has always been.

Vanity items always require work and effort. Since it is only for personal satisfaction and not a requirement to progress, then it requires dedication if you want it.

Everything you are complaining about is optional. It isn’t required to play the game.

That title? It is vanity. Achievements? Purely vanity. They are for your own personal satisfaction, they are in no way required for you to do.

You have a little over two weeks to participate in the holiday. Of course it is limited, it’s a holiday event. Only here for the, guess what, holiday season. Did you expect Wintersday, a holiday event, to be permanent?

The account bound minis are not limited. They are permanent once you get them. The means to obtaining them is limited, for the length of the holiday event.

Like I said, everything that you are complaining about is not a requirement to play the game. They are optional mini games for your own personal enjoyment. If you don’t like them, don’t do them. Simple as that. There is many other things to do in the game.

It is a cosmetic skill, it doesn’t contribute to costume brawl.

All costumes have that. The Witch Outfit has a Summon Cat ability that enters them into costume brawl. Once you use it, you are entered to costume brawl.

It’s not a glitch or anything, just the way it is designed. The 5th skill in all costumes isn’t a costume brawl skill. It is just a cosmetic fun skill.

It is one part of an entire event. Right now, we are just tasting the frosting. We haven’t even got the whole cake yet. We have many events coming in the next few days, along with a big finale and such.

It is one jumping puzzle. Honestly, I’m glad they add it. As much as I dislike them, I know others who thoroughly enjoy them. Anet is catering to those individuals by giving them something they enjoy, while the rest of us still have an entire event to play with. From PvP, Bell Hero, Achievements, Collecting (minis, skins, etc), Jumping Puzzles, and soon to come events, we will all have something we enjoy doing.

Just enjoy the other aspects of the holiday if you aren’t fond of one.

This has definitely made this event worthwhile for me. The ability to choose what I want, without having to deal with RNG and Lottery stuff.

I sincerely hope this is the future direction these events will go in. Definitely a great start.

They play a metronome just before the song starts. If you tap your foot or something to the beat, you can hit the notes in rhythm.

Though lag does mess it up a bit. Had a spike of lag at one moment that had all the colored dots stacking on top of each other. lol

You get gifts that drop Wintersday stuff. Like crafting mats and the ugly clothing.

Here’s my bow. The smoke and snowflakes float around and drift on it (not counting the pulsating glow of the silver etching on the bow already). Pretty neat.

Just wanted to say thank you for putting weapon skins in the gem store so we could buy them directly instead of dealing with lottery.

Picked myself up a Longbow (reminds me of Gingerbread instead of Wood) and thought it was neat. But was surprised to see what happens when you use it in combat. Very awesome effect!

I don’t think anyone can get in the game yet. Seems a lot are having connection errors and those that aren’t, are still downloading the patch.

Still downloading the update at the moment, but from reading the patch notes, there is only one costume coming? Was expecting at least two like Shadow of the Mad King. Or like GW1 and how they released multiple costumes at a time.

But just one? Was hoping for more variety. Was hoping they would of done two different styles for different types of people who might not like the current one.

Not complaining, just a bit disheartened that there is only one.

I think one of the biggest worries right now with players, is the fact that they MIGHT be still working on it.

If they are still working on it now, that means it is not being tested and we are going to get a buggy patch that is going to be tested on us instead. This shouldn’t be something that is being “worked” on at the last minute. It should of been done and tested already and ready to go. Working on the patch at the last minute is unprofessional and shows they are not prepared. It looks bad when a patch is advertised as releasing on the 14th, yet it is still being worked on at the last minute, making it not release till a few minutes before the 15th (like the other events have been).

I feel that is the reason why most players are upset. That and the fact that there is a severe lack of communication about what is going on as the players just stew in wait for something they were expecting to be ready already. Instead of being “worked” on at the last minute.

We really do have the most funnest world of them all.

Just look at it like this. If it is anything like the Halloween Event, it won’t be up till midnight. Which will technically be tomorrow, so that means it will be late.

Where did you hear it starts at 2AM? I haven’t seen any such news. They just keep saying it will be sometime today.

At least we know Octoberfest will be hosted by the Norns and Earth Day will be led by the Sylvari (if we even get those holidays).

The difference?

I would be selfish if I’d ask to be able to get all items released before or after I bought the game no matter what and any new guy after me should not get anything. I neved demanded to have acces to items released before I joined the game.

There still is no difference.

New players will never get the exclusive items that old players have. If a new player wants that ball cap, they can’t have it. If they want the Devil Horns or Witch Hat, they can’t have it. All the exclusive items that old players have, new players will never be able to get no matter how much they want it.

So now new players are finally getting an exclusive for themselves, and all you can do is complain that you can’t have it. You already have all your exclusive rewards for purchasing the game when you did. Now they are getting their exclusive reward for purchasing the game now.

Again, it is an incentive to promote new players to buy the game. If it was available to everyone, then it wouldn’t be much of an incentive. You just have to live with the fact that they are getting an exclusive reward for purchasing the game now. Just like you have exclusive rewards for purchasing the game when you did. There is nothing unfair about it.

So people have found a way to make money again, and you want them to nerf it already?

People who will buy the game after Jan 7th wont have the hat. What incentive they have to buy it now? Well, they get a free upgrade to deluxe edition and a hat which wont be available after Jan 7th.

All those hats old players got before I bought the game, do I deserve them as a new player? No, because I wasn’t there. That’s what they get for buying the game before me.

Me personally, I’m a fan of the trench coat. I like all the long leather jackets, but for others, I understand their concern.

There is no variety in medium armor. Almost every medium armor is a long coat and pants. And out of all those, they all pretty much look the exact same with minor differences.

Heavy and light have a bunch of differences and variety in their sets, but medium is severely lacking in any variety. Hopefully whenever they decide to introduce new armor/skins, they don’t make anymore long coats/jackets. We already have plenty of them in medium, go with something new.

That phrase would be fine (if you don’t like it, don’t buy it), except for the fact that the only way to obtain those items is via the chest or (if they are not account bound) via the trading post for a ridiculous price.

So instead of selling new weapon skins in the gem store for all of us to buy straight up, they toss them in a lottery chest with a bunch of other stuff and have us gamble for them. So we either gamble away our real money, or spend tons of gold trying to afford them on the trading post.

I was looking forward to getting new Candy Cane/Wintergreen weapon skins. Was hoping that after the last two events and the big hatred towards lottery chests, that they wouldn’t do it again. But instead, they did it again anyways. Completely ignoring all the people that were against gambling for skins.

I would gladly pay for weapon skins in the gem store. Heck, tons of people would (obviously by all the complaints about this). People are constantly requesting new weapons, armors, and town clothing in the gem store. But instead, they keep throwing out these lottery chests and make us gamble for the skins.

This is just another event again that I am going to miss out on new skins that I wanted, because they refuse to put them in the gem store and instead expect us to gamble for them.

I never liked these Lottery Chests to begin with. And from Shadow of the Mad King and Lost Shores, it seems a lot of people didn’t like them as well.

So why are they back again?

There was tons of complaints against this Lottery stuff that they kept doing. It was suggested to just add the skins to the store and we would buy them. No need for this Lottery nonsense. All through Shadow of the Mad King and Lost Shores, people were complaining about this. It even got so bad, that Anet made yet another Lottery Chest (Mad King’s Chest) if you weren’t so lucky with the Black Lion Chests. And yet, the complaints continued on and on again about ridiculous Lotteries.

And now here we are again. Lottery Chests. I guess it’s obvious our feedback falls on deaf ears and they don’t care about it. They’d rather us gamble our money away instead of just sell us the product straight up. So much for voicing our concerns and hoping things would change.

It is just pure selfishness is what it is.

These old players have tons of stuff that new players will never get. And that is perfectly okay for them. But once new players get something they can’t get, that is when it is not okay. It’s selfish.

I noticed you conveniently left out WvW, those boosters give clear advantage over others – speed/regen boost anyone? An advantage is an advantage, doesn’t matter how you try and spin your words, you just make yourself look like a goober.

You don’t need to use the gem store to get boosters. You get them from chests. Keys can drop anywhere and you often get keys from fully exploring maps and from other chests. I have stacks of boosters in my vault and have never purchased gems with real money.

At a fixed drop rate, a very LOW fixed drop rate… then the chests have another drop rate… and you have to continually make alts to grind those completion chests which sounds EXCITING… <_< terrible terrible terrible response that counters nothing.

You don’t have to spend real money on gems to get the gem store items. I have bought 2 extra character slots and expanded my bank 3 times and have not spent a single cent of real money on gems.

Also, an ingame advantage is something that makes a player more competitive than another, not that they can have an extra character or more bank space. Those things do not make a player better or more able to defeat an enemy NPC or player, therefore they are not an advantage in the context of micro-transaction cash shops effect on gameplay.

Even if you were scaled, you wouldn’t earn enough experience by the time you finished your storyline, to be level 80. You would end up around level 30, maybe level 40. That is 40-50 levels you still will need to get by doing regular PvE content. Because like I said, even if the storyline was scaled so you could do it at any level, it is too short and doesn’t provide enough experience to level you to 80.

If you only want to do story you wouldn’t care if you end up being lvl 30 or 40 and to blame the story for being to short is not a solution to the problem, i asked for a solution to the problem not the problem itself. Captain obvious. Stay on topic.

No YOU wouldn’t care if you ended up being level 30. You don’t speak for everyone, so don’t act like you do. I’m sure there is others out there that would care if they were stuck at level 30. There is probably people out there that don’t want a random level 30 on their account that they will never play because they only did the Personal Story and it wasn’t enough experience to get them to level 80.

And in fact, you are limiting yourself to only one portion of the game and expecting Anet to only cater to you because you only want to play that part of the game. Your solution for scalable Personal Story would only help yourself, not anyone who doesn’t like that approach. I have offered my solution, but you only seem to be focused on yourself and ignoring anything else.

As a suggestion, I don’t like this idea. As was said by Gehenna, this would allow low levels to get rewards for high levels easily. It would become a fast farming method and be abused to the point it ends up getting nerfed like everything else.

As well, making it scalable would be terrible as it still wouldn’t get you to level 80. Thus leaving you to have to do other content anyways to reach max level. So if you only wanted to level off the Personal Story, you would still be forced into other content anyways to reach max level.

It’s just bad forum right now with how so many people feel shafted after the last event to start giving out such things.

Again, you can get it. You just don’t like your options to get it, so you complain instead that they are getting something no one else can get.

BUT you can get it. Get the Digital Deluxe Upgrade from the Gem Store. Done. You now have the Elite Skill and all the consumables they get as well.

So what if you have to pay an extra 20-25 bucks? It is called business. It is a promotion to entice new players to join. All companies do it, Anet is no different. Just cause you have to spend a few extra bucks to get the same thing, doesn’t mean Anet hates you all the sudden.

Prices go down over time. Stuff gets cheaper. It is how the system works. I don’t understand how people don’t know simple things like this. It is the way the world works. People should be happy that this promotion is going on. It means more players, thus more people to play with. Everyone always complains that worlds are dead, and now Anet offers a cheap promotion to entice new players to join, and everyone complains again.

The witches hat and devil ears will be back next Halloween, I have no idea what this baseball cap is, as I’ve never seen it.

The Halloween event is a yearly thing, so it’s moot to this topic so I’m not sure why you brought that one up.

The point is that they are giving out items to new players that regular players have no way of obtaining themselves, and that is an unfair way to treat the community.

If you played GW1, then you would know that the Devil Horns and Witch’s() Hat won’t be back next year. There will be new hats for each year. That is how they have always done it. If you didn’t play GW1, check out the wiki on it. You’ll see that every year they released brand new hats for every holiday event. You couldn’t get old year hats.

The last Halloween of original Guild Wars made you able to get any of the hats you wanted through all the years.

That is because they stopped releasing new content for GW1 once GW2 came out. They are just updating and maintaining it now.

But all those years from the first event, they always had a new hat. The only reason they aren’t doing it now, is cause they are no longer making new content for GW1 anymore, and instead are working on content for GW2.

I’ve always been a player that is like “all things in due time”… but when the dev starts to alter rates around to encourage the use of the cash shop, this doesn’t make me happy. If I wish to spend money, then I do so by my own choice not because the game keeps giving me suggestive nudges.

I think that has been my issue with the gem store as well. It seems they are more fond of sacrificing game design to push the gem store on people, instead of releasing stuff in the gem store that people actually want without altering the game.

They keep nerfing farming and ways for people to make money, to the point it has almost become a necessity to buy gold with real money just to keep up with the economy. Which doesn’t entice people to spend money, but instead, make them want to quit and never spend another dime.

In my opinion, they just need to put everything back how it was. Remove the farming nerfs and gold sinks that they keep enforcing to make a quick buck, and then just add items to the gem store that people actually want to purchase. They will buy stuff, you just have to give them stuff they want. It seems the huge popular choice from players is that they want more skins. So make more skins for the gem store so people will spend money. Don’t nerf farming and ways to make gold to force players to spend money. That just ends up frustrating the community and leaving a bad taste. It is actually making players not want to spend money.

The story is really short if you level to 80, and then do your story. Though crappy is an opinion. I enjoyed my story on several characters. But to each their own.

The main reason they put 2-4 levels between the story is to stretch it out from 1-80. If they made it to where you could only do the Personal Story, then they would have to add tons of new content to it and make a story for each level.

Plus the Personal Story doesn’t award you with enough experience to level to 80. Again, they would have to add a ton more content and set it at every level for you to be able to keep up with it and finish it at level 80.

But I do agree that it is frustrating the way it is setup. I wish it was every level and there was more to it and it wasn’t so short. I hated doing my Personal Story and getting to a major climax in it, and then having to go grind out 2-4 more levels before I could finish it. By the time you get those 2-4 levels you need to do your next stage of the Personal Story, you are uninterested and sometimes can’t even remember what happened before and why you are doing this.

Put simply, it could of been done better.

The Halloween event is a yearly thing, so it’s moot to this topic so I’m not sure why you brought that one up.

The point is that they are giving out items to new players that regular players have no way of obtaining themselves, and that is an unfair way to treat the community.

If you played GW1, then you would know that the Devil Horns and Witch’s() Hat won’t be back next year. There will be new hats for each year. That is how they have always done it. If you didn’t play GW1, check out the wiki on it. You’ll see that every year they released brand new hats for every holiday event. You couldn’t get old year hats.

And you have a way of obtaining it just as easily as they do. Go buy it like they are doing. There is nothing stopping you from doing so. It is not unobtainable. You can also buy the Digital Deluxe Upgrade from the Gem Store with gold (gold to gem transfer) if you didn’t want to spend real money on it.

Some posters have said we get a whole lot of stuff since we’ve been loyal, but personally minatures don’t interest me the fact they get an Elite skill does. I’ve not gotten to use it so I don’t know whether it’s useful or not (and won’t be taking other’s “word” on it as no one can even agree which of the elites we have now are useful). I would love more variation in my skills – even more so if it turns out to be a decent Elite. Why is it new players who haven’t even had to deal with the fact our selection of good Elite skills is minor get access to this skill whilst the ones who have stuck through thick and thin get nothing?

Like I said to the other guy, anyone can get that Elite Skill. It is part of the Digital Deluxe version. Which anyone can upgrade to via the Gem Store or just by buying the Digital Deluxe version. Simple as that. It is not a gift to new players only, it is something anyone can get.

The ONLY thing they are getting that old players cannot get (unless you buy the promotion), is a Wizard’s() Hat. That is it. A Cosmetic Town Clothing Hat.

Prices raise and lower. Promotions go out all the time. It’s part of business. It doesn’t mean that a company is neglecting it’s previous customers. They are just trying to draw in more new customers by offering them promotions and discounts while still entertaining their old customers.

Your question was answered. You just don’t like the answer, so you ignore them and call them fanboys.

You cannot claim the hat if you already own the Deluxe Edition. It is a promotion for new players/new purchases only. The only way to obtain the hat, is to buy another Deluxe Edition. Simple as that.

I’m not a fan of companies that keep players in an endless collection cycle by waving a new “unique” toy in their faces every week. It takes advantage of players who don’t want to miss out, and is a very disrespectful practice in general.

This type of add-on content should not exist going forward. I don’t mind paying for content, but it better be available to all. I don’t like it when gamestop or amazon does it, and I don’t like it here. Someone should not be limited in content because of their time or choice of retailer.

It’s not content though, it’s a cosmetic hat. You’re not missing out on anything.

You can perfectly play the game without having a Wizard’s() Hat. It has no affect on you whatsoever, so I don’t see what the issue is.
