I actually like all the long coats honestly.

While I do agree there should be a bigger variety and not everyone wants or likes the long coat look, I personally enjoy them. They are some of my favorite armors.

Well actually, there was a ton of Halloween threads all over the place. Anet just cleaned them all up and merged them into one thread. So it just seems like there is barely any talk about it, cause everything is now in one thread instead of a bunch.

What? All the Necromancer skills from the videos are in the game. Grasping Death, Life Siphon, Bone Minions + Putrid Explosion, Doom, and Locust Swarm.

What skill in particular are you noticing that is not in the game? Cause all those skills are in the game.

And the reason she doesn’t fall flat on her face, is cause the video is done that way to give it more character. Notice how the guy actually runs away after his two friends die? Yeah, they don’t actually do that. And you can’t one shot mobs with a single dagger or pistol attack. It’s all mostly just cinematic feel to show off the skills.

Hmm not sure what any of you mean. My Ranger (50) has his back armor and had it for some time. My Guardian (50) has had his back armor for some time. My Thief (50) has had his back armor for some time. And of course my engineer (20) has his back armor BUT it won’t let me put anything in the “unused” slot yet. Pretty sure it was level 30 before it will let you. I also have a Necromancer (28) who does not have his back armor yet and a Warrior (20) who also does not have his back armor. So yes you get it wayyyy before 80 and not for 5 gold. My engineer got his free of course. The 3 50’s got theirs as a reward around level 30 or so. Hope that helps you. Good luck.

Yeah you get your first one at level 40 (I believe it is) from your Personal Story.

But the one they are talking about is when you hit level 80. There is only two choices. The one from the Personal Story and the one from the Guild Armorer.

I just want it to actually “be something” if you know what I mean. Like a backpack, cloak/cape, quiver for Rangers, Toolkits for Engineers, etc.

I play an instrument. Whether it is my Guitar, Piano, Drums, Cello, Bass, etc, I just pick one up and start jamming away while I wait for stuff to download.

If I have dishes to do, I take care of them. Laundry, house cleaning, walk the dog, dinner/lunch/breakfast, or gardening. Even watch some TV or something.

It is always a pain to wait for a game to download/update, but there is plenty of other things you can do while waiting.

The joy of this game is that there is nothing that you are expected to do. Anet is not telling you that you have to do this or that. The game is open for you to do whatever you choose to do.

Other games you are expected to grind to max level then grind dailes and dungeons and raids to get the next tier of gear after the next. That is the intention of them. They want you to grind dungeon after dungeon then raid after raid to keep gearing up over and over and then do it all over again when the next expansion comes out. It’s a clear path that many don’t enjoy, but it’s the only path to take.

In GW2, you aren’t drilled into that treadmill. The game is designed for you to do whatever you choose to do. Take your time with it, go explore, level a craft, do some PvP, run some dungeons. There is no forced path that you have to do in order to play the game. Everything is open for you to do whatever it is that you enjoy doing.

That is the intention of GW2. Just play the game however you want.

I play on Tarnished Coast, and the community there is always been nice, patient, and helpful. By far my favorite community in any game I’ve played.

Maybe try a new world and see if it helps?

As the event hasn’t even started and Anet hasn’t given us any numbers, all we can do is speculate about everything. Which can lead to false information and a lot of upset people if they follow that false information.

We just have to wait and see is all.

Just below the sell tab. It is a circle with an arrow on it.

There is a buyback tab for a reason now. If you accidently sell something, you just go to the buyback tab and get it back.

Trying using your turrets/elixirs/kits/etc.

Engineers do not rely purely upon their own damage like other professions do. Their “knick knacks” contribute to a hefty percent of their damage. If you feel you are doing less damage, start using your other abilities.

It’s the same thing with Mesmers as well. You can’t just rely on your own personal damage to match up to others. Your illusions/clones/phantasms contribute to that damage as well and should be used appropriately.

Well naturally, you can’t run as fast going sideways as you can going forward. So it makes sense that strafing would be slower.

As for the second issue, I agree. Would be nice if we could rotate our character with the right mouse button. The left and right button do the same thing (rotate the camera). Might as well change one (the right) to rotate the character for faster response time.

You apply the appearance to any armor piece just like you would do with any normal appearance you wanted.

Then if you want to keep that appearance, use a transmutation stone to transfer the appearance onto another piece of gear.

The only other Heavy Armor Profession I can think of, would be a Battlemage. Like the old D&D Prestige Class.

But even that is kind of close to Guardian, just instead of Holy, you are using Arcane.

Then of course there are your Paragons from GW1, who use Tower Shields and Throwing Spears. Similar as well, the Amazon from D2.

I was rather disappointed to see a Hair Kit in the gem store. Makeover Kit, I understand. The whole plastic surgery to remake your character is something I expected in the Gem Store.

But to find out they put something that just changes your Hair, into the Gem Store, I was highly disappointed. I was hoping for an ingame Barber Shop or something like every other game out there has. You spend a little gold and change your Hair when you want to. But to see it in the Gem Store for 250 gems was a major letdown.

I really hope this doesn’t become a trend. Simple things like this being put into the Gem Store only.

You seem to forget that Anet didn’t hype their game. The players did.

With Blizzard, they advertise all over the place. They throw ads everywhere from television to random websites (even product placement). Blizzard hypes their own games up.

Anet didn’t do all that. It was the players that brought up all the hype and tossed it around everywhere. They didn’t spend millions on advertising, and instead, let the players spread the word.

For a game that doesn’t advertise everywhere, I’d say it did pretty darn well and will continue doing well.

Like Safari said, there is two in the Personal Story. A low level one you get early on, and then a level 80 green one. The only other one you can get is the guild one. Thus the reason why you won’t ever find them on the Trading Post.

Just take it all, then deposit what you don’t want into your bank.

Your bank is account wide, so you can just deposit what you don’t want on your character, into the bank for your other characters to get.

Well, the joy of downscaling, they could make the entire events require you to be level 1. And tune the event for level 1. Then just downscale you to level 1 so it is challenging no matter what level you are.

This way it is open for everyone, regardless of level. I think that would be the best way of going about doing it, in my opinion.

You have to remember that not all events are just “happening” instantly.

Some require talking to NPCs as well. If no one talks to certain NPCs, then those events will never start. And not all event NPCs have circles over their head. Some have hidden dialogue that will lead to an event if you have a conversation with them.

Most players are just running around the map without checking NPCs, and expecting events to just be “happening” already for them to jump into. They don’t take the time to look around for how to start events or progress them. They just expect them to start on their own. You gotta take the time to do those things, or otherwise events won’t start and it will seem pretty dead.

When you buy items with gems, you are removing gems. It’s like spending gold on a salvage kit. That gold doesn’t go back into the economy, it gets removed. Same thing with gems. If you buy a costume with gems, they get removed, not tossed back into the economy.

From my understanding, you get the achievement the second you buy the armor.

When I bought my T1 Cultural set for my Norn, I got the achievement from just buying the boots. What you do with the armor afterwards won’t matter as the achievement is given to you as soon as you purchase it.

So I’m assuming it reads that you already have the achievements, and it will credit you from that. Not if you still have the armor or not.

It’s a player’s market. Supply and Demand. That simple.

If no one sells their gems, then the price for them is going to go up. If tons of people sell their gems, then the price will go down.

People buying gems with real money, want their money’s worth. A gold here and there for their buck is not worth it. So they stop selling, causing the price to rise. When the price gets high enough, and they feel it is worth selling again, they will sell their gems.

Telling Anet to put a cap on it ruins the whole purpose of it being a player market.

Armor is not profession specific.

Armor is based on weight. Light Armor, Medium Armor, and Heavy Armor. Anyone who wears Light Armor can wear all the Light Armor available (except for race specific armors and order specific armors).

Now, if you’re asking if you can wear Heavy Armor as a Light Armor wearer, then no you can’t. You can only wear the armor for your weight class.

Already have three 80’s now, working on a fourth and still running into players along the way.

Maybe if you’re not attached to your world, transfer to a new one? With transfers being free at the moment, it gives you the chance to jump around and find new communities that are more active.

Just takes a bit of research on your own to find it. This is what I did before choosing an Order, as I wanted to check what armors they had available before I joined them.

And I don’t expect them making it a gem store feature either. Otherwise, it would really mess up your Personal Story (same goes for race changes).

It’s one of the perks of being in that Order. Special weapons and armors.

So no, you can’t.

You don’t need the whole outfit just to use the skills. Just the toy is all. I have the Pirate outfit and Cook outfit and you can use the toys separately without the outfit.

As for the gloves with the toys, I really have no idea. I haven’t bought the gloves myself. My guess, is that which ever you equip last will overwrite the other. For instance, if you have the sword equipped and then equip the gloves, you’ll get glove skills. But if you equip the sword after the gloves, then you’ll have sword skills. That’s my guess at least.

Never really have to do this on Tarnished Coast. Seems no matter what map I zone into, there is always a conversation going on.

And sometimes if it does die down, a simple “It’s too quiet…” will get a bunch of replies and spark up a conversation again.

I don’t really know where to put this, so figured here is probably best.

So I decided to try something that I thought might produce an interesting result. Note, this is all my own doing and not based off anything. I am at fault for what happened.

Did you know you can put town clothing into the Mystic Forge and it will create something? Yeah, I just found this out myself. I went to the Mystic Forge, put my town clothing in there and it said, you can forge something! So I was excited thinking I would get some new outfit or something from this.

I got a white Rawhide Vest. Level 5. So putting in town clothing gives you a low level white vendor item.

So apart from the fact that I am now running around in my knickers, I’d suggest not doing this.

Would it be possible for Anet to maybe make some interesting special rare clothing just for this purpose? Or possibly remove the ability to put town clothing into the mystic forge so no one else tries this experiement? Just an idea is all.

Folks are going to continue posting about rampant botting until ArenaNet does something that has an actual impact – or they’re going to move on to other games. As it gets out of hand, the moderators will close threads as needed. Given that I originally replied to the person who opened the thread to say “don’t do that – you’ll get banned – and just go play,” you’re wasting not just effort, but looking none too good in the process.

Yeah I noticed your post. It doesn’t solve anything. Sure, let Anet run around and just ban every bot we see. Good job. What did that solve? Not a thing. People will still use those same programs to bot unless Anet actually works to prevent that before banning them. Just banning solves nothing. Finding out what they are doing and “studying” them is better in the long run, as you can prevent that type of botting in the future. Then after they have built a way to prevent that form of botting, they can ban those players.

And I wasn’t referring to you making this thread, I was being general about it. I should of reworded that better, my apologizes. I meant in general, making threads about botting is pointless. Anet knows there is a problem. They are doing everything they can to stop it and prevent it from happening in the future. All we can do is wait.

You would know why it was just closed. They don’t need all the spam and they are not going to respond to every single post about the exact same thing. Yes, they know there are bots. So why do you feel as if you need to make yet another thread on the subject? It doesn’t get anything done faster and they won’t update you every minute, all it does is spam the forum with pointless information that we already know.

Careful – I’ve already had a reply pulled because I had the temerity of posting a screenshot that contained 15 rangers, in identical gear and with the same pet, botting in Cursed Shore. They’re none too keen on folks actually identifying botters in the forums.

Report on them, try not to feel the futility, and hopefully hang on until ArenaNet figures out how to deal with the bot army.

It has nothing to do with that at all.

If you haven’t noticed (which obviously people don’t), there is a massive thread at the top of the forums in big red letters about bots. They close all these constant spam threads of bots because they want you to post there, not make a thread every single time you see a bot. They even post a link to that thread in all these spam threads of bots.

So no, there is no conspiracy and they are not trying to keep it all hush hush. It is called posting in the already existing thread that is stuck at the top of the forums, instead of creating yet another thread on bots and spamming the forum with it.

They just need to make yellow enemies not affected by AoE abilities, unless you are specifically attacking them.

On my Engineer, when using Static Shot on a red enemy, I wish it would just shoot the red enemy. Instead it goes after every deer, dolyak, rabbit, chicken, and grandma in the vicinity. Really is frustrating when you are trying to get rid of the enemy, and the forest animals fight against you cause of it.

One thing you forget, is Transmutation Stones are not just for cosmetic swaps.

In WoW, Transmogrification only does appearance. In Rift, the Wardrobe only uses appearance. In many other games, they only alter the appearance. All other games only let you change the appearance.

Transmutation Stones allow you to choose the appearance, stats, and upgrade off two sets of gear. Then you combine what you like from each piece, and get one. So say armor 1 had the appearance and upgrade you wanted. And armor 2 had the stats you wanted. Using a transmutation stone, you can take the appearance and the upgrade from armor 1, and combine it with the stats of armor 2, to make your new armor.

It does more than just appearance, thus the reason why it works the way it does. Otherwise, you could just transmute a ton of gear to have the exact same Rune and then salvage all those runes and have 1000’s of the same Rune easily. This would flood the market with billions of runes from people duplicating them using Transmutation Stones cause nothing would get destroyed. Thus giving you an endless supply of runes.

So I have this issue, that actually scared me a little.

Awhile back, I bought the Sport’s Sunglasses for my Thief. Today on my Engineer, I was browsing the style section of the Gem Store, and didn’t see the glasses anymore. As well, I don’t see several items that used to be in there. As if they were removed or something.

This caused a quick panic as I relogged onto my Thief to check if she still had her Sunglasses. Sure enough, she had them which was a sigh of relief. But I checked the Gem Store again, and I still didn’t see them in there. Yet if I search for them, they show up. I just can’t see them while browsing.

It would seem my Gem Store is being cut-off so to say and not showing all the items available to me. This worries me as when new items arrive, I’m unsure if I’ll even see them in there, much less be able to purchase them.

Someone asked what my browser was, and I’m using Firefox. Unsure though why this is happening. Any insight would be very appreciated as I am baffled as to why I can’t see all available items in the Gem Store.

The thing you’re forgetting about is, PvP is not balanced around 1v1. It is balanced around groups, not solo. Thus the reason why we have abilities to support each other, and not just ourselves only. PvP is a group effort and balance is based upon that.

If you threw in duels, you would get a lot of complaints that <insert profession> is overpowered/underpowered. And people wanting buffs/nerfs based on 1v1 combat. Which would completely throw off the balance when working in a group atmosphere.

And since PvP is balanced around groups, not solo, it would actually mess everything up. While dueling a friend might be fun, it would cause nothing but complaints in the end for buffs/nerfs based on 1v1 combat.

Loved my Personal Story on my Mesmer all the way up to 80, and the same on my Ranger all the way up to 80. Been working on a Thief now and loving their Personal Story so far. Taking different paths on each character so I can see the differences.

Getting ready to do my first time through the Whispers storyline, so can’t wait to see it. I am definitely happy with the Personal Story and in no way bored of it.

I think you misunderstood.

What I was saying is, items that you can sell will appear on this tab. I didn’t say the game was picky on what you can and cannot sale.

For instance, just like in other games, you cannot sell Account Bound or Soul Bound items on the Auction House. Same goes for GW2. Anything else is fair game.

If you find a grey item, such as a used shaving razor, feel free to sell it on the Trading Post if you want to. There is no limit to what you can and cannot sell, except if the item is bound to you/your account.

Well first off, you can access the Black Lion Trading Company from anywhere. Just click the lion head in the upper left of your screen. The only time you need to go see an NPC, is if you are picking up items/money.

But onto your question.

There is different tabs on the left side after you have opened the trading post. The first tab that opens, is the gem store (if using the lion head button). If you visit an NPC, the first tab that shows up is the shopping tab. This tab allows you to search for items you wish to purchase.

Below that tab is a sell tab. This is where you can sell items directly from your inventory. If an item is sellable, it will show up in this window. Now, important part. When you go to sell something, there is two different things. Sell for the lowest wanted price, or put the item up for sale at the lowest selling price. If you sell for the asking price, you will get your money instantly. If you sell for the listing price, you have to wait for someone to buy it (like an AH in other MMOs). Alternatively, you can sell for whatever price you wish to set it for.

Take into account, there is a listing fee for selling items. As well as a hidden fee that the trading post charges (I think it’s 15%). So be careful when selling an item for the wanted price, cause you could end up losing money.

After you have sold your item, there is another tab for Pick Up. This is where you collect whatever item/profit you have made. This tab can only be accessed via an NPC. But you can sell and buy from anywhere in the game, by just using the lion head in the upper left of your screen. Like I said, the only time you need to visit an NPC, is when you need to pick up your stuff.

It’s all a matter of preference. Just cause you don’t like something, doesn’t mean everyone doesn’t like it and it shouldn’t be there.

And just an FYI, that armor was in GW1. And I’ve seen a lot of people using it on my world. It was called Profane in GW1.

@Rukia (sorry for some reason I can’t quote); Though in GW1, they were automatic. You automatically had a cloak and it had no stats and was for only displaying your guild insignia. Just like a tabard in WoW.

Another issue is, clipping I would assume. If we had cloaks, they would clip really bad with pretty much 90% of the armors, not to mention Charr tails and weapons. In GW1, you didn’t carry your weapons on your back and everyone was Human so there was no major clipping issues. Now we have weapons on our back, tails, different character sizes, poofy armors, and everything that will gladly clip through our capes, making them undesirable to wear.

While I would want a cape like in GW1 that I can represent my guild insignia on, it would cause more issues and more complaints than it is worth.

In GW1, they had small content updates that were free. War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, Winds of Change, etc. They added all new quests, stories, NPCs, weapons, costumes, and heroes (computer controlled party members). Plus there was holiday events if you counts those which add new quests, NPCs, changes to scenery, and costumes.

Yes you can. Just keep using transmutation stones. You never lose the appearance unless you trash the gear with the appearance on it. If you want to keep that appearance, just keep transmuting it onto your new gear each time you get new gear.

I’m still stuck teleporting on this quest.

each time I try to go to the lower level, I get teleported back up to the top. I can’t do anything now cause it won’t let me in the lower level.

So this is something I noticed for awhile now, but didn’t think anything of it. But now it is frustrating.

Currently, I have a Harpoon Gun that does 605-699 (level 68 green). Yet after checking my Combat log to see my damage, I was only doing 53-55 damage a hit. I have never done anywhere near 605-699 damage with this gun.

Is this a bug or is this intended? Rather ridiculous when I am only doing 53-55 a hit, when mobs are hitting me for 800-1200 damage a hit.

Edit: As well, I have the Eagle Eye trait that should be increasing my Harpoon Gun damage by 5%. Obviously this is not happening.
