Is this game grindier than WoW?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I have to agree about not being rewarded for your efforts. Simply put, the rewards should be appropriate for the content you are doing. In WoW, that is the case. In GW2, it’s not.

The frustrating thing about GW2, is the constant junk loot it gives you for doing the hardest content. If I run Fractals or Raids, I should get Ascended or Exotic level 80 gear to drop. If I run Dungeons, I should get Rare or Exotic level 80 gear to drop. The only time I should be getting blues or greens is doing open world content. Unless it’s one of those massive world events, you should get gear that is relevant to the content you are doing. I shouldn’t be getting level 70 blues or even whites for doing high level Fractals.

As for grind, it all depends on what you are doing really, or what you are looking for. In my opinion, there is less grind in WoW than in GW2. Gold rains from the skies in WoW, enough to easily support any crafting or gearing you need. Even paying for your subscription with ingame gold. Especially now with WoD and Garrisons, you can easily gear up for raiding in a matter of hours.

GW2 on the other hand, seems to nerf any sort of gold making that you can find and has basically made it to the point of, buy gold with gems, or be poor. Or be prepared to farm for months on end to get anything. Gearing up in at least exotics is not too bad, if you have the gold to spend of course. If you don’t, good luck getting drops. Crafting is out of the question if you don’t have the gold as well. Ascended, don’t even think about it. When it comes to gearing, yeah. GW2 has more grind than WoW. The only good thing is, by the time you do finally get some decent gear, you won’t have to worry about the next expansion out-dating it. That is of course if they decide not to add another gear stronger than Ascended.

In my opinion, it is easier to gear up in WoW than it is in GW2. But they both have drawbacks. While GW2 is a grind to gear up if you don’t have the gold, your gear won’t ever get out-dated by an expansion (as long as they don’t make a new gear with better stats than Ascended). In WoW, it is really simple to get the gear you need to do any content, gold is easy to come by and you can craft raid tier epics. But when the next expansion arises, your gear will be out-dated and you’ll need to get the next highest level gear.

As for the events and tired of doing the same ones over and over, be glad you have events to keep doing over and over. In WoW, once you finish the quests in the area, there is no reason to go back to that area (except for mats). There is no more quest there for you to keep doing. At least the events in GW2 are always there for you to do, even if it is the same thing over and over.

So honestly it’s kind of a mix really. They both have good and bad sides, just decide which appeals more to you and then go from there. Hope that helps somewhat.

Interesting. Performance increased a bit, but not by a huge amount. Though, since Reshade doesn’t work with it, that makes sense for the slight performance increase.

One thing I did notice though, is you can’t use Hi-Res Character Textures with it. The option is greyed out for some reason.

Otherwise, I got a few FPS, but not much. But like I said, that could just be due to my Reshade not working with the 64bit client and not having Hi-Res Character Textures.

Now if only they’d get rid of Diversity’s Edge. Cripple kid, Rox, Braham the Bald and the two obnoxious barbie lovers all need to go.

Into the oven, preferably.

Wow. That’s… a bit much.

They can scatter the group for a bit by simply giving them other problems to attend to. Taimi heads back to the lab to make a new golem. Braham has to carry back word of his mother’s death. It was hinted that Kasmeer Meade might regain her title and status as a noble, but what if that brings up an old family promise of her hand in marrage to someone else?

Well there is already problems between Kasmeer and Marjory already, as hinted at the end dialogue when you talk to Marjory. Seems they are having some “personal issues” between them now. So I wouldn’t doubt that we’ll see some sort of falling out between those two eventually.

Like was said, Anet wants your money. So if that means making you pay to use stuff you already paid for, then so be it. Their greed knows no bounds.

Be glad you have the new Wardrobe system. Before, we had to buy multiple skins just to use them on different characters. If you wanted something like the Aetherblade armor on your Warrior and Guardian, you had to buy two of them. And if you overwrote it at some point cause you wanted a change, and then wanted it back, you had to buy it again.

(totally sounded like a “back in my day” rant)

As for taking credit, he does do exactly that. Remember after the battle of Lion’s Arch and you guys are talking about Fort Trinity? Yeah, you came up with this neat idea and named it Fort Trinity. Then when he goes and talks to the other Orders, he says straight up, “Which I have named Fort Trinity”. No we, or you, just simply I.

The Personal Story was supposed to be about your story (it even says that at the beginning), and then when Trahearne shows up, it ends up becoming about his journey. You go out and do all the work, but he gets all the credit for “leading” the Pact. You end up being a basic soldier in his army, and in your own story. But you still make all the choices, yet he is the one who gets the praise still.

Yeah I get why he is there, I mean “Mah Lorez” and stuff cause you can’t have xXNarutoXx or SwagLord99 in the actual story leading an army to defeat Zhatian, but still. The way he was done was poor in my opinion.

I never wanted him to die though. And the story actually caught me off guard when it was time, and was like, wait wait, what? I didn’t want it to end like that.

Yeah I’m in the same boat with our guild. We have a family guild. Only four of us, but haven’t seen the upgrades yet. But now that I know they are that expensive, forget getting a guild hall.

Yeah we could invite others to join us, but why? It’s a guild for my family. Mother, Father, and two Sons. We use the guild bank to share stuff between each other. We thought about getting a guild hall cause it would be fun, and we had one in DDO back in the day, but if those are the requirements for one, then it’s not happening. We’ll settle with what we have now.

I’m just waiting for the day when you see “WTS fully upgraded Guild Hall with all unlocks 10k PST” in map chat. Because it is going to happen.

People want an xpac to be as big as the original game? That’s not how it works, especially in an MMO. Part of the price is future content.

Apparently you never played any of the GW1 expansions. Nightfall and Factions were easily as big as, if not bigger than Prophecies.

We do have that standard to compare Anets work to.

Nightfall and Factions were standalone campaigns. Not expansions. They were separate games from Guild Wars.

The only expansion for GW1, was Eye of the North. So if you want to compare HoT to something, compare it to Eye of the North.

For people who purchased Prophecies first, Nightfall and Factions function as xpacs for them, even though they are labeled as standalone. Very few people intentionally keep their Prophecies and Nightfall accounts separate. Therefore, yes, we can compare HOT to Nightfall and Factions.

Legacy of the Void is going to be standalone, but people still consider it as an xpac to sc ii.

Eye of the North has less content than Factions and Nightfall, but its launch price is lower as well, so it was all right.

Doesn’t matter what the players consider them as, they were still standalone games. You weren’t required to have Prophecies to play Factions or Nightfall. So either way you look at it, they are still standalone campaigns.

If you treated them as expansions, that’s your personal opinion. But fact is, they weren’t expansions, they were standalone games that didn’t require the original to play.

HoT requires GW2 to play it, thus making it an expansion. Just like Eye of the North required Prophecies to play it. It was an expansion. If HoT was standalone and didn’t require GW2 to play, then you could compare it to Factions or Nightfall as they are also standalone games. But since it requires GW2, it is considered an expansion. Not standalone.

Question: Why… after the first one, knowing it was not a guarantee, did you salvage a second one?

Because numbers. Heroes test these things for us to get the numbers, so we don’t have to do it ourselves. Then when we want to do it ourselves, we just look at those who came before us and realize it’s not worth it. And then we thank and praise the Heroes who valiantly sacrificed their time and wealth for the greater good.

I don’t know if it’s unfinished or not but it’s blatantly obvious the grind for elites (when the cost was 400 hp) was padding the content and that’s it.

I’ll never buy kitten expansion from Anet again. Not unless it’s the size of at least Nightfall. We got $25-30 worth of content at best.

Now I’m not saying I hate HoTs, I love playing the revenant, it’s breathed some new life back into the game for me but that doesn’t excuse how little content there actually is in the expansion.

h

They said up front for a long time this would be their smallest expansion ever as they’re setting up new features to expand on later. It’s not so much a flat content thing as feature rich. After this xpac, all the major features of the game (except maybe on or two sometimes for a real change idk Mounts cough) xpacs later will haz moar. So that should at least make you feel better about map size.

So what you’re saying is we paid more for less now? It’s all well and good if they want to set up for things they’re doing in the future but don’t charge the price of a full game for it.

I don’t have enough faith in Anet at this point to keep any of the promises they make as far as future content goes. I still remember how they first told us we’d get precursor crafting in September of 2012 and then again in the infamous “Second Half of 2013” blog post. And here it is 2 years later and we had to pay to get access to it.

Disagree, the $50 for the expansion is for all the current HoT content and for all the content related to the expansion in the future. Just like the base game of Guild Wars 2 was for everything it released with and for all the content they added prior to the expansion.

Sorry but that is simply untrue. When you bought GW2, you didn’t pay for future content. You paid for what you got on release. Anet specifically stated that all future content for GW2 would be completely free. Living World, balance fixes, updates and reworks, content patches, all of it for free. So no, you didn’t pay for future content.

According to Anet, what you paid for was what you got at release. Everything else after that is free. Same thing goes with HoT. What you paid for, is what you got at release. Future content is free like it has always been. So you paid for what we have now, not what might be coming later.

Instant 100% map completition?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

the only thing i find annoying are the hearts some are extremely boring to do multiple times

This is the one thing I would ask for completion to be account wide on. I never liked the Hearts when they were introduced, and they are such a pain to keep doing on alt after alt. They don’t offer much experience or cash, so it would be nice to have them be account wide so I don’t have to keep doing them on all my alts. Or just have them as a discovery once you’ve done them once, so you don’t have to actually do them.

I liked GW2 the way it was without the Hearts. I don’t like that “busy work”, I just want to explore and do events. But gotta do the Hearts for map completion, so ugh.

Make it optional of course for those that enjoy them.

[Spoilers] Personal Story Events

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Has anyone else had these yet? Open world event related to your Personal Story choices?

I’ve come across a couple of them now. For instance, with the Order of Whispers. The part where you save Demmi Beetlestone from her father. After you finish that story, you have a chance of getting an event where Ministry Guards appear and say they are sent by Demmi’s father to kill you.

Another one I had was with Tybalt after he died. I had a Risen Commander appear with other Risen and say they were going to send me to shake hands with Tybalt. And then an event started where I had to avenge Tybalt’s death.

This is my first time in my 3+ years of playing this game that I have come across these. Are they new? And has anyone else come across any other ones? I really like these. It’s pretty neat to see them and have personalized events based on your Personal Story choices.

This is basically the same thing that happened when people bought up the commander tag. A ton of tags all over the place, rendering the tag useless. Then over time, people stopped using them and it all settled down to the point that the only people using them, were the ones who knew how to use them.

This is the same thing. Give it time guys. It’s a new shiny toy to play with, just like with the commander tag. Just have to have patience and wait for the shine to fade. This same thing happened before, and just like before, it will calm down and then people will stop using them except for the ones who actually know how to use it.

See, the issue I have is I paid for what I got now. I’m not paying for what might come later, I’m paying for what was advertised to me now. When I bought GW2, I didn’t pay for future updates. Anet announced free updates as the game progressed, so I didn’t spend money for future updates. I paid for what was released at the time of release.

Same thing for HoT. I paid for what was released, when it released. I didn’t pay for future updates, I paid for what came with the expansion. Future updates have always been free, so why would I be paying for free content?

So yes, the OP is right. HoT was an unfinished product. There is no denying that. Content that should of been released with the product was never released. Thus, unfinished. You can go on about how we will get it later and that is what we are paying for, but it’s not. We paid for the content that came with HoT, not what could be coming in future updates. When you pay for something, you pay for what you are getting right then and there. You don’t pay for what might happen to it in the future.

With my Chronomancer, I got the recipe instantly when I maxed out my elite spec. I was already 500 Tailoring, so it just gave it to me. The runes aren’t bound or anything, anyone can make them for you. So your alt can go buy the recipe and make them. Or you can just buy them from the trading post as well.

Outfits Vs Skins

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

it is shocking. they released 4 new maps and there is very little if any interest there on the skin side (2 armor sets). regional armor sets presented an opportunity to get players interested in the new areas..

but they decided to go outfits only (and in fact infuriatingly seem to be releasing a new outfit each day). after a year and a half 2 armor sets. so instead of unique armors we are running around in the new areas in the armor we have been wearing for 3 years.

of course from a pure greed perspective it makes sense (outfits make money) but from a paying 50 dollars for an expansion perspective it feels like a ripoff-and brings up the tough questions..what exactly were you guys doing for a year and a half?

these threads deserve to be bumped…players are very unhappy with the lack of armor sets. hopefully colin listens to this feedback.

I felt the exact same way.

We paid 50 bucks for this expansion, and all we got was 2 armor sets? And meanwhile, here comes new gem store outfits. It seriously feels like a ripoff when they do that. Because they were making these outfits during the time they were working on HoT. And instead of spending the time making more armor sets to go with the new expansion, they instead made outfits for the gem store.

It is just really frustrating to see that.

Has HoT been worth the price?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Only you can really make that decision. It all mainly comes down to what you like.

If you want some great scenery and fun exploration, go for it. If you like the story, the story is awesome so go for it. If you want harder content than what is available in the core game, go for it.

HoT is rather breathtaking visually, and the story is really good, although really short. It feels like a Living World episode, and not a full expansion story. Only two new armors and they are “alright” I guess. Not my style, but some might like them. Just more about the fact that there is only two armors with this expansion. The new zones can be a bit confusing at first, and rather daunting, but spend enough time in them and you’ll find your way around. The multiple levels are the confusing part.

Then you got the Mastery system. Pretty much everything in HoT is gated behind this system. Want to explore certain areas? Level Masteries. Want that hero point? Level Masteries. Want to continue the story? Level Masteries. Want to buy stuff from that vendor? Level Masteries. It can be a bit grindy at first, but know that it is account bound so at least the first time will be a struggle, but with your alts, it won’t be too bad cause you’ll have most of the required stuff unlocked by then.

That leads to the new elite specs. That are “kind of” locked behind Masteries as well. They require 400 skill points, which will require you to go to HoT to finish. If you did map completion in the core game, you should have a bit over 200 skill points, so you’ll only need 200 more. HoT skill challenges give 10 per challenge, but they are no easy feat. Some are champion bosses, others require certain Masteries to unlock, and some are multiple elite mobs. So you won’t be able to play your elite spec to its full potential till about half way through the content, or till the end of all the content.

But that’s HoT for you in a nutshell. Hope that helps you decide.

I’ve killed the boss. Didn’t have any issues. I’m not saying you’re lying or anything, just letting you know that there is some of us who have done the boss before.

I know there is bugs. Bugs happen. It’s part of gaming. Nothing is perfect. <insert more zany quotes here>

Point is, patience. Bugs will be there on the initial release of any game. They can’t predict every outcome and how things will work out once they go live. We just have to have patience while they figure out how to fix the bugs as quick as they can.

And them making a post on the forums isn’t going to prevent those fixes from happening.

So a final boss fight should only let “some people” finish it and let the rest suffer in the 100 bugs it has?

Nothing is prefect, but the quality of Mordremoth, the final boss fight, even by the standard of the initial release, was absolutely terrible.

I never said that. I was letting you know that it is possible to complete it, even though it is bugged. Yeah the bugs suck, we all know that. But sometimes it doesn’t bug. All you can do is try again or wait. No sense in raging over it, when they already know about it and are actively trying to fix it.

Step back a bit, take a breather and know that they are trying to fix it. I’m sure they don’t plan on leaving it bugged like it is. Either wait till it is fixed and do something else, or try again and hope it doesn’t bug next time.

Grind not bad - elite can be done in 8 hrs

Yeah finally got my elite spec this morning, but as well, I already had map completion on my Mesmer. So I only needed 200 points.

The last skills are 25 and then 35 points by the way, not 15 points like everything else.

But I’m mostly dreading the fact that I have 8 more characters to do this on, which none of them have map completion. So it’s going to be the full 400 for them and that is going to be a pain.

is outfits the future

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

SpyderArachnid.5619

It’s not cause they sell less, quite the opposite really. They sell more.

Problem? More work.

So instead, they make outfits cause it is less work, for pretty much the same profit. The easy way out basically.

Armor skins take way more time to make cause they have to fit all those pieces to each race and make sure they don’t clip/match up with other armors as well. While an outfit is one single piece that they don’t have to worry about it clipping or matching with other armor pieces.

So less work, for same profit. Instead of quality stuff, they’d rather just do easy stuff.

Using Reshade myself. At times it can be a bit dark or really bright (mostly really bright on the character select screen cause of all that white), but otherwise it is still working great for me.

I honestly can’t play without it. After using it for awhile and then trying without it, everything is so washed out I can’t stand it. I need my color!

Sylvari PCs are mechanically superior

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

SpyderArachnid.5619

I lol’d. You forgot about all the achievements prior to this that required you to be a specific race and do their storylines and things like that. This is nothing new.

Except for the fact that you cannot obtain the meta achievement for that story line, meaning you can’t get the Ascended trinket either.

That achievement is part of the meta. If you don’t play a Sylvari, you’re locked out of ever getting that meta achievement, and getting the reward.

Because they assume you play more than one character. Since they are account wide achievements, you can get those items on multiple characters.

But if all you do is play one character, and no alts or anything that can wear those, then you’re kind of out of luck.

Lisa Ann Allison. Named after the characters in one of my favorite comics.

This was one of my favorite story missions. Took a couple tries but it wasn’t that bad.

Yeah same here, kind of confused at what the OP is talking about now.

I did this on my Chronomancer and while it was tough, I didn’t die. Just took my time with it and did fine. Gotta pick which mobs are more of a threat and take them out first. Like those darn snipers leaving that fire trail that just eats you alive.

Just don’t try to rush it, and move a little at a time. And yeah, use your skills. All of them.

Noticed this myself as well.

Was doing a ton of events earlier and then decided to take a break for a bit and just try some exploring. Yet I was still getting chest after chest for doing nothing. I mean, I don’t mind the loot, but it wasn’t deserved.

And yeah I agree. I could see this being abused soon.

How would you rate the HoT Fun Factor?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

6/10

There is only a few things that I don’t like, but otherwise, it’s not too bad.

I can’t stand the gating. That bugs me beyond belief. Every time I try to go somewhere or try to do something, it’s gated behind Masteries. Want that hero point? Need bouncing/gliding/updraft/poison resist/etc to get it. Want to continue your story? You need bouncing/gliding/updraft/poison resist/etc to continue it. Want to get your elite spec? You need bouncing/gliding/updraft/poison resist/etc to get it.

You get the picture. Some times I just want to have some alone time and roam about doing things. Can’t do that in HoT. Everything requires a group of players or a zerg. Even the simplest thing like a hero challenge, that was once easy in Tyria, requires a zerg to complete now.

And then DR. Oh goodness the DR kicking in after 10-20 minutes. Sadly, you have to farm these events to level those Masteries, yet when that DR kicks in it just makes leveling Masteries a heavy chore and a job. It really puts a damper on the fun factor of the game.

And then of course, the lack of new armor sets. I mean come on. 60 bucks for this expac and we only get two sets? Ugh.

But otherwise, I love the soundtrack, the look of the zones, and all that stuff. I love the new active dialogue feature instead of those face to face chat scenes. Much better. And I love the random banter my character has now. Like for instance, my character just says “Hello there” to other players randomly, fully voiced and everything. It’s pretty neat (unless of course that’s a bug lol).

Overall, the game is pretty decent if it wasn’t for all the gating. That is the one thing that is making me not play as often. I log on for like an hour now and just stare at it and log off. It is just really disheartening to try and enjoy the game when everything is gated behind Masteries now. It doesn’t feel like fun, it feels like a job and a chore now.

Story Mission Back Reward(s)

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Well, you’re in luck! Cause right now, it is bugged so it never upgrades to anything. It stays a a Novice’s Pack.

I did the same thing you did. Deleted it and then realized later that I needed it still because I was getting upgrades for it. So I contacted support and they replaced it for me and gave me a new one.

But as it turns out, that upgrade thingy? Auto applies itself when you accept the reward for that story mission. So they had to send me one of those too. Which in turn, didn’t do anything. So I got the next level one from another story further in, but this time, I actually had the Novice’s Pack. Nothing happened. It is still a Novice’s Pack.

Told support about it (still had my ticket open), and turns out they know it is bugged. So until it is fixed, it won’t upgrade to anything right now. I’m curious how they are going to fix this, as I’ve already got two upgrades from my story. Are they going to send us the upgrades we missed? Or give us a fully upgraded Pack to compensate for the bug? Hopefully it gets sorted out soon.

But for right now, you can contact support to get a replacement Novice’s Pack. You can ask for the upgrades too if you want, but they won’t do anything cause they are currently bugged.

How in the WORLD do I spend Mastery Points???

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Once you get a level in your Mastery, you can spend A point on one of the tracks.

No, you can spend however many points that particular level requires. I just got the lvl 2 Pact Commander mastery and spent 2 points required to obtain it.

That is what I meant basically, as the first tier of your Mastery only costs 1 point.

My point was though, that even if you have 30+ Mastery points, you can’t spend them at once. You can only spend the amount it lets you spend. Like you said, you got level 2 Pact Commander and you could only spend 2 points. Now you have to level up yet again to be able to spend more points, but you can never just spend them all at once.

Once you get a level in your Mastery, you can spend A point on one of the tracks. Sadly, you can’t just spend all your points at once. You have to level up again to spend more points. And rinse and repeat.

Yeah, have fun with that. And I’ll gladly take your stuff. ~.^

But instead, you decided to be rude and insult other players in your post instead of just making a positive post. Now your post violates the CoC and will be deleted and infracted because you felt it necessary to bash on others for their opinions. Way to go.

Well, but the other way around is always good right? Wasn’t ment to be rude anyway. But you know what, you are right I’m editing the post removing the bad part Ha! Safe!

Maybe just me, but wouldn’t just adding a toggle to hide your shoes/boots be easier? I mean, we can toggle our helmet, shoulders, and backpack, so instead of making a pair of invisible shoes, wouldn’t it of just been easier to add a toggle to hide them?

Or maybe it’s just a glitch. /shrug

Refund Hero Points NPC/Vendor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

You can’t. You have to fill all core specs before it let you unlock the elite spec. So yeah, reset all you want I guess.

I thought you had to do masteries to unlock it. I have more than 500 unspent hp’s on two toons, as all I ever really done is farm events etc and one full map comp’. Why ppl want to reset them?

Nope. You have to max out all your core specs, every trait you have, before your elite spec even unlocks. Then it’s 60 points to start your spec which gives you your new weapon, and then 15 points for every trait after that.

Why complaining about needing mastery lvls?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

SpyderArachnid.5619

Mastery levels on their own are awesome. They work out great, even if they are a bit grindy. But otherwise, the idea is a neat idea.

It’s what they are connected to that is the problem. Mastery on its own is fine like I said, but when you gate other things behind those Masteries, it becomes a problem.

Gating the story behind the Mastery system is an issue, cause you are stuck grinding levels of Mastery just to continue a story that has nothing to do with the Mastery system. I would give some examples, but they would probably contain spoilers, so apologizes.

As for your example, there’s a huge difference. At level 1, we were just commoners coming out to the land. We didn’t know about Zhaitan and all of that. Now, we are Pact Commanders leading the biggest fleet into Mordremoth’s territory to defeat him. We are already accomplished, unlike when we first started as a nobody. We shouldn’t have to “level up” all over again.

HoT The new gw2...

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

SpyderArachnid.5619

MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online.

It doesn’t mean “Have to play with others”. You guys have no idea what an MMO is. An MMO just means you are playing with other people playing the same game as you in the same environment. It does not mean that you are forced to play with those same players to accomplish anything. It is optional.

People play MMOs for many different reasons. Being able to socialize with others while gaming in the same world is one example. It doesn’t mean they absolutely HAVE to play with other players, just that they are in an environment with other players. Playing solo in an MMO is perfectly fine if that is the choice you wish to take.

The OP is right though. HoT was designed with groups/zergs in mind. If you haven’t actually seen the events, they are all zerg events or mass group events (pretty much the same thing).

Oh you mean like how Silverwastes worked? or every other zone with events? or dungeons? or fractals? or PvP? or WvW? or World Bosses?

Hmm, yeah, those didn’t need other people in them.

Hurr durr burr

Not sure what you’re trying to argue here, as I just made a general statement, not a complaint. Yes, HoT was designed for groups. Just like those zones you mentioned, but most events in the older zones could easily be soloed. Scaling was a thing remember? Even most of the events in Silverwaste could be soloed as well.

PvP you could go into solo. You didn’t have to make groups to be able to join PvP. You queued up solo. So that doesn’t fall into the category.

So, what exactly is the point you’re trying to make here?

You don’t have to make a group for any of this?

I haven’t made a single group and I’m almost done the entire story, have done most events and getting all hero points right now.

What groups? If you really think this is difficult content, you’re just terrible.

The only issue I can see anyone ever bring up is the fact that it’s artificially gated behind the mastery system.

The point (I think) the OP is trying to make, is that the content is designed for group/zerg play. You don’t have to actually be IN a group, but pretty much all events and challenges require multiple people to complete. Require, not optional.

I don’t think they mean you literally have to make a group, but more on the lines of you need a group of people to do the content. There is no means for the solo player (on their own, not with other players around) to do any of the content.

It’s not a matter of difficulty or being bad at the game, it’s just a simple fact that none of the content for HoT was designed for single player. You require other players to assist in order to complete any of the events and most hero challenges.
