Try deleting the folder (after you have moved your pictures out). When you take another screenshot, it will recreate the folder and you’ll be able to start filling it up again.

At least, that’s what I got from a quick google search. Seems to be a common problem with GW2.

Chainsaw skeleton/mini spooky trio questions

Basically, if you want all 4 minis, you need to buy two sets.

One set to toss in the Forge for Chainsaw, and the other set to keep. Cause once you bound them to you and save them to your collection, you can’t withdrawal them to use in the Forge.

[Suggestion]: Home Instance Collectibles

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

So I was running one of the Aetherblade paths in Fractals earlier today, and came across the dancing hologram (Fun Fact: Dance with both holograms to get an achievement). So I thought to myself, “How neat would it be to take one of these and be able to place it in my Home Instance?”. And then it occurred to me.

Home Instance Collectibles.

Items that you can find out in the world, that you can add to your Home Instance. Like, for example, the dancing hologram in the Aetherblade Fractal. They wouldn’t be obvious things, they would be random stuff to just decorate our Home Instance with. As you’re doing dungeons, fractals, raids, exploring, or even really hard jumping puzzles, you can find little trophies like these that you can collect to display in your Home Instance.

Like another would be a mini shrine for the different gods. You do the chain event for the temple of Balthazar, all the way to the end, and next to the shrine you find a mini version that you can display on a display shelf somewhere in your Home Instance.

Make thousands of these types of collectibles, scattered in different activities, some easy to get to start, while others are a challenge. Just don’t hide them behind grinds or time gates or such things. Just have them out there, for us to get, whenever we want to go collectible hunting.

I mean, we already have ore nodes, and clothing racks, and stuff that already have uses. So this would be a trophy hunting thing instead. And every new patch, feel free to secretly toss in more things that we can hunt down, so there is always stuff out there in the world to find for our Home Instance.

Just trying to think of ways to make use of our Home Instance.

Aetherblade Path - Oozes

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I know this has probably been brought up a few times already, but I didn’t find anything recent on it.

Now I’ve read all the guides and different posts about what to do on this, but I don’t know if it is bugged now or the mechanics have changed now or what. So maybe you all can help me.

This is just impossible to do for me now. The oozes don’t survive even a second with the amount of elementals that spawn.

When we first got to the room, there was 8 elementals. 4 on each side. So like most guides tell you, kite them all to the door and keep them focused on you but don’t kill them yet, while the other two go grab the oozes and guide them through. Then kill the elementals that go after the oozes at the end.

None of that happens. When we get in the room and start attacking the elementals to drag them to the door, they charge full throttle to the oozes standing in the water. And I seriously mean it. All elementals in the room go straight for the oozes right away. Which makes the oozes last like a second or two. Then the elementals come after us. BUT as soon as another ooze spawns, the elementals once again leave us instantly and charge the ooze before it even starts moving anywhere, and kill it again.

We can’t even get the ooze to move anywhere before the elementals kill it. And to top that off, elementals are spawning in groups of three at a constant rate, to a point we had almost 24 elementals in the room with more spawning in. It was a nightmare to say the least. Constant immobilization on us, and the ooze before it could go anywhere, and then bam, dead ooze in a second.

I don’t know what is going on. We can’t hold any aggro on the elementals, no matter how much we beat them up. The second (and I literally mean the second) an ooze spawns, all elementals in the room, regardless of where they are, charge straight to the ooze and kill it.

Is it supposed to be like this? It is seriously impossible to do this. I don’t know if a recent change broke this, or Anet changed the mechanics to this or what, but I remember doing this path awhile back and it was never like this. But now, there is way too many elementals spawning, and you can’t hold any aggro on them at all. Every elemental in the room will turn away from whatever is going on, and bomb rush the ooze as soon as it spawns. You don’t even get a chance to move the ooze now.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Yeah I completely spaced that in my post, my mistake.

Still, instead of letting them pile up, start making use out of them. I mean, if you have that many might as well start churning out a profit by salvaging exotics for runes and mats and selling it for more than the actual exotic, like was said above.

Will we ever face any of the six gods?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

But…. why? Why would we fight the gods that we have worshiped for all these years? Just cause they went silent for awhile?

There is many theories why they went silent, but I wouldn’t say they outright abandoned us. Maybe forces unknown to us have silenced them and they are dealing with their own issues on their end to solve it?

Just doesn’t make any sense why we would all the sudden go into an all out war with them over it. Doesn’t really fit into the story in any way.

If you have so many that you are running out of room for them, they why keep getting them? You’re obviously not using them, as if you were, you wouldn’t be running out of room for them, so why not pick something else? Or actually start using them?

Will the bunny ears ever come back into the game? ; _ ;

What a lot of people don’t realize, is they can’t come back. Because the system that used them is no longer available.

You guys forget, Bunny Ears were Town Clothing. They were never an armor skin for you to purchase. Now that they scrapped the whole Town Clothing feature, and turned most Town Clothing into Tonics, a lot of those old items are unavailable now.

In order for them to “come back”, they would have to make a new version of them. They can’t just reintroduce the old ones, as the old ones were Town Clothing, not an armor skin. The only reason us “veteran” players have them, is cause of the conversion of our head wear to armor skins when they made the change. They never actually made an actual Bunny Ears armor skin item for you to purchase. You had to of bought the Bunny Ears as Town Clothing before the change in order to have them now.

So in order for you to get them now, they’d have to make a completely new item using that skin. So they wouldn’t really “come back”, it would be a new item that was never there before.

Just make a Mystic Salvage Kit. Higher chance of stuff and it has 250 uses.

Better than having to constantly go back to the vendor with 25 uses kits. And to answer your question, they are not a material or collectible or anything like that. Thus why they don’t stack.

How to use Gems ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

First, welcome to GW2. Take your WoW mindset and throw it out the window. GW2 plays very differently from WoW, and if you come in to GW2 expecting a “WoW clone”, you’re going to be highly disappointed. There are similarities, but overall, it’s a different game.

As for gems, you can’t buy power or anything like that. Like others have said, the gem store (cash shop) in GW2 is purely cosmetic and convenience. No power buffs or stronger gear in the gem store. It’s all mostly just fancy fluff.

There are no heirlooms in GW2 like there is in WoW.

As for gear, it is similar to WoW. You get it from drops, crafting, dungeons, and just general rewards for completing maps or events. You can buy it from the trading post if you want, but as a new player, I’d advise against that. You level pretty fast, so don’t waste your money on new upgrades while you level, just to out level them as soon as you get them.

Unless you’re a heavy farmer or trading post flipper, you won’t make a ton of money. This isn’t like WoW where gold pours out your ears. So save your money and try to stay away from the trading post till you have got the hang of things.

Charrs against bad outfit artists.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Yeah the clipping on most outfits is pretty bad. For a game that had an amazing art style to it, the art is really starting to decline in quality. It’s like they just gave up and only want a fast buck for shoddy work.

I mean, even on the Magitech set, my character’s heinie clips through the skirt. I mean, my naked derrière is showing through my skirt. How do you miss that? Seriously.

And Charr, jeez don’t get me started. I don’t play Charr myself, but I feel bad for those who do, as pretty much everything clips on them.

How to Dance: Volume II

Guild Wars 1 dances. In Guild Wars 1, for those that didn’t know, the dances were profession & gender based. I’d like to see them add those dances to Guild Wars 2. There were some really great ones in there. Like the Warrior and Monk dances, or who can forget the amazingly awesome male Elementalist dance?

You can max out every profession on one character, and then switch between them without losing any progress whenever you want.

As for Warrior, I personally like using separate professions on each of my toons that kind of fit their style. My Warrior does Armorsmith and Weaponsmith. But feel free to choose whatever you want, because as I said above, you can switch them out whenever you want without losing progress. Then switch back and forth between them all. You can have two at a time (unless you buy more via the Gem Store).

Legendary...for the non-crafters..

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I kind of have to agree with this.

A Legendary in GW2 is not a Legendary at all. There is nothing Legendary about grinding/farming/crafting a weapon. It should have some sort of story behind it or a huge quest line or something. Not just require you to play the RNG game and grind for it. There is nothing Legendary about them.

I would like to see an actual Legendary weapon in GW2. One that has a history and takes you on a journey throughout the game, find the pieces and facing challenging foes as you delve into the depths of some forgotten tomb to piece together a long forgotten Legendary relic of the past. Then have to face some epic boss to siphon their essence into the blade of old to awaken it’s true potential.

Not “hey let’s go gamble in the forge and then craft some pieces to make this epic weapon!”. There is nothing Legendary about that.

Outfits vs Armor Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

My questions are… why would the armor skins (that force me to use the transmutation point) cost more than the outfits (which do not force use of the transmutation points). Armor skins = 800 gems. Outfits = 700 gems.

Why not just make all of them “outfits”? Is it to allow mixing and matching of various skins? Is it a ploy by GW2 to get you to spend more gems on transmutations?

Basically that.

Outfits can’t be mixed and matched. And only have 4 dye options. You’re stuck with what you get type deal.

Armor Skin can be mixed and matched, and have multiple dye slots (up to 4) for each piece. You can combine them with any other armor pieces you have unlocked for a full customized look.

Thus why, Outfits are cheaper than Armor Skins.

/age for 3 year Birthday/Anniversary?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Quick easy way to find out when your birthday is, is do /age. Then look at the days for that specific character, for instance, say it says 1057 days.

So go on google and type “1057 days ago”. There is a couple sites that will be like the first ones and it will tell you what date that was. Then just write it down in a notebook somewhere (or notepad whatever works) and you’ll have your character’s birthdays. Then you’ll know the specific date of when they were created.

Did that myself and now I can easily keep track of when to check certain characters for birthday presents.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

Gotta agree. And yeah, I have probably paid well over 10 times the amount already in Gem purchases.

There is a lot over the years that I have experienced that new/free players won’t. And I have plenty of exclusive titles and items that they won’t get either. Not trying to brag, but just saying it to show that I have got my money’s worth and then some.

Just the other day I remember talking to my family about how I wish they were around for Living Story season 1, and how it was like the opening of Ahn’Qiraj. But it was still a ton of fun and that’s something they’ll never get to experience in all it’s glory. Or when we still had mix and match town clothes, before they were turned into tonics and outfits.

There is so much we got to see and do that the new players will never know, only hear about. And we have things to show off for it as well if you need that. I personally welcome all the new/free players. I am glad to see more people joining this game, regardless of whether they are a veteran or new player. I don’t need compensation because F2P members get a glorified trial account now.

I find this game to be extremely boring...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

(This is not a departure thread)

Let me explain why:

1. Spells are horribly animated, on every single class… Extremly boring to look at.
2. Questing is great until you realize every single location has the same formula.
3. Fights are awkward and game mechanics are an annoyance. Conditioning damage? Hair shampoo?

How are spells horribly animated exactly? Are you running on low settings with animations set to the lowest quality? The animations are quite fluid and smooth if you ask me. As for your number two reason, you pretty much described every single MMORPG out there. That isn’t a GW2 exclusive, all MMORPGs do that.

And how are fights “awkward”? They are much smoother than games like WoW or other F2P MMOs. What exactly is “annoying” about them? And it’s condition damage. You know, like conditions being applied (Damage over Time: DoTs). Bleed, Poison, Confusion, Agony, Burning, etc etc.

I tried coming back, in the hour I played I just started running around lol. It’s that bad… People only play this because they invested real money. In other words they paid money to acquire the game and so have placed this delusion on themselves that the game is good.

Sorry but after you said this, you lost all credibility in your post. People only like this game because they bought it? Seriously? That’s the excuse to why people play it?

Look at all the other P2P games out there like WoW, Rift, SW:TOR, Tera, Archeage, etc etc etc the list goes on. People paid for those games too, and pay subscriptions for some of them, and they have quit those games. I paid for all those games myself, and I don’t play any of them anymore. I’ve put thousands of dollars into WoW, and I no longer play it because I just wasn’t having fun anymore.

Just cause someone paid money for a game, doesn’t mean they have to like it. I’m guessing you’ve only played F2P games given that statement.

This reminds me of Warcraft and how Stormwind is still busted after Deathwing’s attack, yet Orgrimmar got a makeover. Almost on three more expansions since then and it still isn’t fixed…..

Yep. I think we just need to keep yelling about it until we know why. Clicking 250 stack of luck really is probably the worst experience I’ve had in an MMO.

Keep in mind this is my favorite MMO.

Artificer is your friend. Craft all those to higher quality to save your clicking finger.

That doesn’t solve the problem, now you have 250 of a higher tiered luck.

250 lesser lucks don’t turn into 250 higher lucks. It condenses them. Meaning less.

5 Fine Essence of Luck = 1 Masterwork Essence of Luck
2 Masterwork Essence of Luck = 1 Rare Essence of Luck
2 Rare Essence of Luck = 1 Exotic Essence of Luck

Get the picture? Artificers condense them into higher qualities so it is less clicking.

It still means you have to click 250 times when you could just click once. His point still sort of stands even though you’re right.

Why would you have to click 250 times? If you have 250 Fine Essences, then just select the Masterwork Essence recipe, and click craft all. One click for 50 Masterwork Essences. Then do it again for the Rare Essences. One click for 25 Rare Essences. Then do it again for the Exotic Essences. One click for 12 Exotic Essences.

Now you have 12 Exotic Essences and 1 Rare Essence. All for only 3 clicks. Now click 13 times more and you’re done. 16 clicks instead of 250 clicks.

Going to assume neither of you have done any crafting or leveled Artificer as this is just common knowledge if you’re a crafter.

Is GW2 P2W for you?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

GW2 isn’t P2W, simple as that. It has stepped on the line a few times, but otherwise it is not P2W.

P2W means you can purchase something with only real money that those who don’t spend real money can’t have, that gives you an advantage over others. Usually this is a stat advantage. There is nothing in the Gem Store like that.

Though, at a time, there was. There used to be Strength & Armor boosters in the Gem Store. Items that gave you higher stats that at the time, were only available via the Gem Store. But they got removed and added to BLC Chests instead. Then of course, the Watchwork Mining Pick. The pick that could get you extra sprockets over regular mining picks, that was only available in the Gem Store. Which while it wasn’t a stat advantage, it still gave you an advantage over others.

But in the end, nothing will ever be P2W as long as the Gold to Gem conversion exists. That of course doesn’t give the excuse to put higher stat gear in the Gem Store only though. But the option is there because of the Gold to Gem conversion.

Did you make sure you changed the file extension? Most presets come in .txt format and need to be changed to .cfg files. Make sure you’re renaming it properly too.

I personally couldn’t get into GemFX. I prefer Reshade myself.

Ah, memories time.

Remember when they censored the heavy Orrian armor because they thought it was too revealing (after tons of people already bought it)? Remember when dyes were account wide, then changed to character only cause Anet thought our palettes should be unique per character, then changed them back to account wide? Remember when they reset all crafting discoveries cause they were too lazy to add new recipes to level to 500 with? Remember the Wizard Hat fiasco? Remember wasting all your skill points on a new healing skill, only to have it removed later?

Yeah I’ve been here since beta as well. But hey, I’ve come to accept one thing. Things change and there is nothing we can do about it.

Been using it since last night (well since about 2AM), and it’s been really nice so far (upgraded from Win7). Haven’t had any issues with it.

Only thing I had to do was download the new Nvidia driver for Windows 10.

People will think that it’s amusing is all that she meant, Spyder.

Yeah see, that’s what I would think as well, but if legitimate players are not receiving the mail, then what is there for us to find amusing?

They singled us out by stating “Legitimate players will like it”. They didn’t say all players would like it, they singled out just the legitimate ones as if there was something just for them.

The only ingame mail is the one you get if you were a victim of the bug and had the achievements removed. Legitimate people don’t get a mail… you get access to HoM back and another sorry from me for your wait.

I’m a bit confused by this. So us legitimate players won’t get a mail then? Then why did you say this……

I don’t decide these kinds of things, but there is an ingame mail associated with the fix! It’s a great email too… I think all of the people with legitimate HOM achievements will really like it.

Why exactly would legitimate players like a mail message that we are not getting? With this statement you made it seem like we would be getting something as legitimate players for our troubles, but now you are saying we don’t get a message? So what’s going on exactly here?

Hall of Monuments Update?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

For those that still don’t understand, I’m just going to put this here.

Quote from Chris Cleary on why it is STILL down:

I’ll try to explain this without getting too technical, and some parts are probably going to have to be left out.

The bug that caused players to unlock achievements/skins/titles and achievement points was caused when the GW1 server that stores the HOM status talks to the GW2 server that controls new character creation. Basically it was sending bad data to the GW2 server, and unlocking achievements that should not have been unlocked.

This means that there were multiple problem points that need to be cleaned up. The first thing to be cleaned up was the bug that caused this to happen, and that was fixed within a few hours. However, the removal of the rewards is an entirely different problem.

We don’t have the tools to easily mass remove achievements/titles, which means it’s something that has to be developed. Unfortunately, this came at a time where our resources are tapped to the max, so it’s taking longer than we would like to fix this.

Thankfully (lol), when the HOM rewards bug was happening, the actual HOM was not accessible, and those players were not able to claim any other HOM entitlements…so the damage was somewhat limited.

We are working on this, I assure you, and we will remove the rewards from players that should not have received them. I do not have a timeframe, as modifying accounts at this type of level is not something we would ever take lightly, and as long as we keep a majority of the entitlements locked there is less for us to clean up.

So it sums up to basically this.

They fixed the bug a long time ago (like literally hours after it happened). That was easy. No more bug, done and gone.

The reason why we are still waiting for months and being denied access to our earned rewards is because they haven’t removed the rewards from those who didn’t earn them. So those of us who earned our rewards, are being denied them till then.

Nothing needs to be fixed. The bug is fixed already. They are just denying us our rewards that we earned and making us wait until they can come up with a way to remove rewards from those who didn’t deserve them. Even though, the bug is already fixed and they could re-enable the HoM whenever and then remove rewards later, but they’d rather do it this way instead.

So there ya go.

Why is the community so easily discouraged?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Forums have always been an outlet to complain about the game. This is true with any game out there that has forums. Sylum gave a pretty good example of this. Negative threads/posts are what you will find on most forums. People that are happy, usually don’t post as much as people who are upset.

That said, Anet doesn’t have the best reputation. Well, they haven’t had the best reputation for awhile now. They ignore a lot of the major issues until they get so out of hand, that they finally have to say something to try to calm down the crowd. Which still doesn’t help, cause it is mostly PR spin they toss at us, instead of actually addressing the issues.

And they have a really bad rep of doing the whole “ignore it and it will go away” strategy. They have made some really bad changes/choices in the past and instead of addressing them, they ignore it and hope everyone forgets about it. It is their main “go to” when they don’t know what to do. Which happens a lot.

Anet has let the players down quite a bit over the few years that GW2 has been out. And they haven’t done anything to win back that trust of those players. In fact, they keep doing things to push those players away from them. And again, instead of addressing the player’s concerns, they ignore them and hope it goes away so they don’t have to do deal with it.

So yeah, the little things will set off a lot of players, mostly the older players (veterans) because they have been burned way too many times by Anet already. There is a lot of tension between the players and Anet, and Anet isn’t doing anything to release it. They just let it build and build till it gets out of control, and then we’ll be lucky to get another PR spin from them that they think will solve everything. Which it doesn’t.

Sooo……. I haven’t kept up with this and it’s probably been asked, but I’m curious now.

On the purchase page it says “Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns expansion(includes Guild Wars 2 core game)”. It doesn’t say the core game is only for new players, it just says that the core game is included.

Sooo…… where is my second account with a free copy of the core game? I paid for HoT and am supposed to get a free copy of GW2 as well. But all I got was HoT. I didn’t get my free copy of GW2.

So is this considered false advertising? Rather confused about this now.

Can we have Cat Ears ;)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

SpyderArachnid.5619

Yet again, Cat Ears are already a part of the Guild Wars universe. So saying they don’t fit or break immersion, is a bunch of hooey. They were already in GW1 as per this proof here:

http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Furrocious_Ears

So if they want Cat Ears, let them have Cat Ears. We already had them in GW1, so I don’t see the big deal of having them in GW2.

The problem with that video, like others have said, is that he is seeing the Hearts as Quests. Which is not what they are meant to be.

Hearts weren’t designed as a quest system, they were made to help guide you to Event areas. Events are what could be considered Quests, as they are your main source of XP, just like Quests are the main source of XP in other MMOs.

Back in the day, we didn’t even have Hearts. It was just open world explore till you came across Events. They added the Hearts cause people were lost and didn’t understand what to do. So they made Hearts as guides to help push you to Event areas, and then added small tasks to them to keep you occupied while you wait for Events to pop up.

He seems to be misinformed about several things, whether it’s the lacking tutorial system or just holding onto old MMO mechanics, I’m not sure. But you can tell he can’t let go of the old mechanics from other MMOs, and is carrying that into GW2 instead of leaving his comfort zone and realizing that GW2 is not like other MMOs.

Otherwise I just couldn’t stand the video. It was mostly annoying.

Daily's and how it all works

Yeah I preferred the old system better. Before I could complete my daily while I was leveling an alt. Barely ever had to go out of my way to get it done. It didn’t feel forced, it was just something that happened naturally as you played.

Now you have to go out of your way of normal game play just to get it done. And if you don’t do fractals or world boss events, you’re pretty much not going to get it if you don’t PvP either. It’s no longer just fun to do as you level, now it feels like a chore.

Eh, I went to at least try it once. I have the worst luck in this game at everything, so I didn’t expect much. But after buying the cheapest one, the return was more than I had before so I profited.

But won’t do it again. Just wanted to do it so I can say I did, but I actually despise gamble features like that in games. Like the Black Lion Chests. Hate them with a passion.

Waypoint travel cost increase?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Waypoints have always been expensive since the beginning. Maybe you’re just now noticing it? Most people don’t notice it cause they just quickly double-click to go to one and not actually check the price before traveling.

I never understood that honestly. The price of waypoints.

You would think that after all your heroic deeds and saving countless lives and ridding Tyria of Zhaitan and everything else you have done, you would be a hero. A savior. Held in the highest regard.

Yet they charge you more money to travel around than they did when you were just a peasant learning the ropes. You would think that after everything you have done for Tyria, you would have earned a reduced price, if any price at all. But nope. It’s like, “HEY! Thanks for saving the world! Now give us more money cause your deeds are meaningless to us!”……..

Anet logic.

2) it’s a complicated issue. they’ve stated it is something that isn’t easy to fix. They aren’t deliberately trying to block people out of spite. It will take as much time as such an in-depth fix requires.

Actually, they have stated they already fixed the issue. The only reason it is still disabled is cause they haven’t REMOVED the rewards from the players who didn’t deserve them.

Quote from Chris Cleary:
