Yeah this needs to be removed/fixed. A meta achievement should never rely on what race you chose.
I don’t have any Sylvari, and I’m not buying a new character slot and leveling it to 80 just to get an achievement so I can get my Ascended trinket. That’s just ridiculous.
I’ll have to join in with you OP, even if it means being called casual or being told to L2P.
The content just seems a bit over tuned to me. I’m trying to do this on my Mesmer who is in the same predicament. Full exotics with a few Ascended pieces, I’m runed up right and everything, yet I am struggling so much in these new maps.
If I get hit by anything, I’m pretty much dead instantly. I mean shoot, one hit from those baby raptors and I lose half my life. And I feel like I am doing less damage now than before, as before I remember hitting mobs for thousands of damage, now I’m only doing hundreds, yet they are hitting me harder than anything else.
I play at night, and there isn’t much players around during my time when I do get to play, so a lot of it is spent doing everything solo. I mean, I have got like maybe 2 or 3 hero challenges, cause I could commune with them. But otherwise, forget getting my elite specialization now. I don’t stand a chance even attempting these new hero challenges.
It just feels like they tuned this content for group/zerg play only. I am struggling to enjoy it, but when you are constantly dying to what should be an easy fight, it is hard to have any fun.
Yeah sadly I have to agree with this as well.
I don’t care if you want us to grind out the Masteries to explore the world, even the fact that we have to grind out Masteries to get our Hero Points so we can unlock our Elite Specializations.
But I do have an issue with having to grind out Masteries just to see the story. It reminds me of this quote from Mike O’ Brien:
It (GW2) doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun rather than just having fun.
This is exactly what it feels like though. Preparing to have fun. And by the time I’ve grinding out all those Masteries just to continue my story, I’m so annoyed, that I just can’t have any fun anymore or get into the story.
Yeah I got nothing as well.
Went to all of them and had 100% and no chest or anything.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you should check out this thread. Already a topic on it.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-Wars-1-armors/
But agreed, would like to see a lot of the GW1 stuff in GW2. Really miss those sets.
2AM here. But I’m a night owl, so yay me.
Like was said before, the release date will never be perfect for everyone. Someone is going to have to suffer with a bad release time. 8AM doesn’t sound so bad actually. It’s right at the start of the day, and if you have work or school, let it download while you’re gone so it’s ready when you get home.
Get the Cook’s Outfit. It’s an apron with metal claws on your feet. You’ll get to see your fur then.

Well HoT launches at midnight, but I’m going to assume that Halloween will come with it. Otherwise they’ll have to do another patch later on for Halloween. It just seems easier and less work to just launch them together instead of separately.
Just wondering if it would be possible to add another body type option (or two, depending on how you look at it), for female humans?
Going to call it/them “hourglass” and “athletic” for want of better names.
ATM, we basically have two variations on pear-shaped (at various weight options).
One variation has a small waist and the other has a larger waist.
I’m suggesting a third option, which would (or could) use the existing top halves, waists and upper hips of both of the existing options, but would then have straighter, less rounded, lower hips and slimmer outer thighs.
So, in the case of the existing smaller-waisted options, this would result in an hourglass type figure and in the case of the larger waisted options, it would result in an athletic type figure.
Thanks for your time.
How about Anet just give us the ability to custom our character like how its done in the mmo call black desert. I’m sure most people will jumping for joy if it were to ever happen.
Would be way too much work and not enough profit for Anet.
You’re talking about introducing a full out slider system instead of presets. That means, overhauling every race and how they are designed, and on top of that, having to redo every armor and outfit out there.
They are already stingy as it is with making new armors (we only get two with the new expansion), imagine if they had to redo every single armor in the game and outfit just to match the new slider system, after they had to redo every single race as well.
This is something that should be done during development, not afterwards. As much as I would like to see a slider system (even those like Black Desert or Eve), it would more than likely never happen.
I voted Kiel.
Gnashblade only cared about greed and advancing the interests of the BLTC. Kiel on the other hand actually cared about the people and the refugees and working to make LA better as a whole.
And look how that turned out…
The citizens of LA were exterminated and the city obliterated. After the destruction, the only thing out of LA that remained standing was the BLTC, and that was even after Kiel coopted resources from it.
Gnashblade is clearly the better leader, a lesson LA had to learn the hard way.
Actually the BLTC was destroyed. Everything was moved to Vigil Headquarters along with the refugees and survivors. Gnashblade was upset about it and didn’t want to help out, Kiel had to force him to help the survivors with supplies.
Gnashblade only cared about his money being gone, and didn’t care about the helping the survivors. He had to be forced to help. Some leader….
A handful of buildings were destroyed, but were quickly rebuilt. Gnashblade had no obligation to assist (since Kiel was the one who was responsible) but helped out anyway. His organization came out ahead, while Lion’s Arch required a massive amount of assistance from outside sources. Yes, he truly is a better leader as proven by everything you just said.
Gnashblade was still trying to gain favor with the council, so you would think that someone who is trying to still get a seat on the council, would help out the survivors and prove his worth to LA. But instead he didn’t. He didn’t even want to help.
And Kiel isn’t responsible for the fall of LA. Kiel tried to warn the council of the impending attack by Scarlet, but they ignored her and didn’t listen. It was the rest of the council that failed LA. They should of listened to Kiel’s warnings.
Kiel was actually out there in the field, bringing the fight to the Aetherblades and helping take down Scarlet to protect the people of LA. While Gnashblade was sitting in his corner counting his coins…

Exactly…under Kiel’s leadership…LA became an amusement park…the magic is gone…:(
Gnashblade would have kept it a thriving trade center and melting pot of cultures…and I bet he would have actually built the Combat Arena like in the novels…where we could have fought and bet on fights…
But now…“wait, mom…i want to go climb on the giant squid…”
pfffffffttttt……….
oh…and Kiel be-spelled Magnus…no Norn in his right mind would have gone along with the LA redesign fiasco…
There was no Kiel leadership, it was the decision of an entire Captain’s Council. She didn’t control all the changes to LA, the whole council made the decision. So even if Gnashblade was on the council instead, it more than likely would of ended up the same still as they are just one voice out of 27 people.

Well, they are introducing a feature that allows you to salvage your Gift of Fortune for a 100% return on all the materials you used to make it. This is because, those same materials will be used to also make the new gifts for the new legendary weapons.
So going off of that, and how the Gift of Fortunes uses 77 Mystic Clovers, there is probably a high chance that the new ones will require them as well, since they went through the trouble of making this new feature to salvage the old Gift of Fortunes.
But it’s all just speculation. Take it for what you will.
I don’t believe they ever said 100%
I am betting it will be closer to 70% with some rng factor.
They did. It was in the Guild Chat, episode 19. They clearly state you’ll get 100% return on the mats you used to create it.

They never said you could unlock it completly the minute you start playing HoT, those where wrong expectations from data mining. Also you don’t need 400 hero points, expect 250 for all skills and traits and the last 150 for the weapon and armor skin
Except that is just speculation. There is nothing that says it will be like that. For all we know, the traits, skills, skins, etc could be mashed together into the spec. Meaning for 60 points, you unlock it. Then 10 points you get your first trait. 10 points your first skill, 10 points your first skin, then rinse and repeat back to 10 for your second trait.
It could all be jumbled together so we have to actually get 400 hero points. We don’t know.
So please don’t, as sensitive as this topic already is, don’t give people false hope with speculations. It’s just fuel to the flames. It could only be 200 to get just your traits and skills, and then all skins at the end. Or they could all be jumbled and we need all 400 to get all our traits and skills. We don’t know. All we can do is wait and see.

Or will you double that good ol’ progression sensing and play with a kitten traitline and then by the time you finish , you’ll be back to the same power level you were at?! Because woo progression sensing right?!
Did you expect to get stronger for some reason? You do realize this a horizontal progression game right? Not vertical? You won’t get stronger, you’ll just unlock more variety to expand how you play.
As for me, I’m going to play around with the elite specs regardless. I have enough to unlock half the trait line on all my toons, so might as well unlock them as I play so I can get used to them and be ready for them by the time I get them fully unlocked.
Regardless if the elite spec is good or not for a particular profession, I’m going to use them any ways just so I have some hands on experience with each one.
Where did I mention vertical progression? I think you should re-read.
Maybe the part where you’re talking about being at the same power level as you were before? I just assumed that you were expecting to get stronger with a comment like that.
I just can’t believe the level of FALLOUT this is generating. Cough
Well for me, personally, I don’t care. I don’t mind working on all the elite specs on all my toons over time as I play through HoT. I already have enough to unlock half the spec, so I’m not too worried.
But I do get and understand why others are upset over it.
They wanted to go into the new content, already in their elite spec, so they could enjoy it all throughout HoT. Because, basically, since they have to wait till almost the end of HoT to fully unlock their elite spec, what was the point of it all if they never got to fully enjoy the elite spec during all that time? And depending on where these hero challenges are located, they might be locked behind closed off areas of the jungle. Then you’ll need to grind out Masteries in order to get access to those areas, just to get more hero challenges to unlock your elite spec.
So yeah, I get all the rage over it. For me, I don’t mind it all cause it gives me something to do. But I do completely understand where the other side is coming from and I respect that.

You pre-purchased a product that was “Subject to Change”. You knew full well when ordering the product before it was ready, that things could change during production.
This is a well known fact. The law won’t help you here. You made an investment into an unfinished product, that you knew was subject to change. Every product that is a WIP undergoes changes during production. You knew this when you purchased HoT, knowing that we wouldn’t get all the info up front and instead, it would be given over time as progress developed.
There was no misleading or false advertising. If you are unhappy with your purchase, get a refund. But don’t try to claim they are breaking the law, because they aren’t.
You’re all wrong. This thread is about reducing the cost of crafting Light Ascended Armor, because currently, it is more expensive to craft than Medium and Heavy.
Stop derailing the thread.
At OP, I agree. Light is much more expensive than crafting the other sets and I wish/hope they reduce the requirements to compensate.

Well if it’s 170 points to unlock the trait lines I can live with that. As long as I don’t have to buy weapon skins as well to get the traits unlocked.
A pewpew ranger in WvW is useless but a druid won’t be. 170 points is the minimum required to even bother logging a ranger in to WvW to get more points by doing WvW. 170 points is the starter level to not being useless.
I grinded out those 170 points in Tyra and didn’t enjoy one second of it. I did it only because that is what was datamined. I doubt more then 10 hp in the new maps will be available without masteries.
Already confirmed to be 400 hero points. A character who has done everything in Tyria, should have around 200+ points. Then you can get 10 per hero challenge in the Magumma. So you’ll need to do at least 20-40 hero challenges in Magumma to get your elite spec.

So…..get the elite specs?
The complaint is, they want to START doing the new content with the new elite specs already. They don’t want to play the same thing they’ve been doing all these years, and THEN get the elite spec after they have pretty much already finished all of the HoT content.
Cause then what would be the point in having new fancy elite specs, if you won’t even have them fully unlocked until the end of all the content? Then what would you do with them after you’ve done everything already just to unlock them in the first place?
So they want to be able to get them before starting HoT, so they can experience all the content in HoT while playing/testing the new elite specs.
I sincerely doubt you’ll have to play through " Most " of HOT to unlock them. It’s not going to take as long as people think. People will have them in under a week
We don’t know that yet though.
Remember, we can’t explore all of the jungle without maxing out certain masteries that will grant us access to closed off sections of the jungle.
What happens when those 20-40 hero points we need are locked behind those closed off sections? Then we have to start maxing out masteries just to be able to get those extra hero challenges so we can finish unlocking the rest of the elite spec.
So on top of having to play through the jungle to get enough hero points to unlock your elite spec and have it playable, we might have to grind out masteries as well to get access to closed off areas just to get enough hero points to fully unlock our elite spec. Which in turn, will be majority of the content in HoT before we even get our elite spec.

I was worried when I saw 400 was required, as I only have 212 after doing everything. Then saw that we get 10 points per hero challenge and then there is core challenges as well and took a nice relieved breath.
Not so bad now. I have 8 characters (will be 9 with Revenant) all 80 who don’t all have that much hero points, but I’m not too worried. Gives me something to work towards now. And seeing as I don’t play them all 24/7, I can easily prioritize who to work on the most.
All in all, I’m looking forward to it. It’s not too high, but still high enough that it will require a bit of work. Good job.
If you have the final back piece, email support and they will send you the previous version. This is what they have done in the past.
Exactly this.
This is what I did as well. Was able to get the green version mailed to me by support, since we couldn’t get it unlocked when the wardrobe was introduced. Seriously, just contact support and be nice and they’ll help you out.
Just do something like the Bonus Mission Pack for GW1.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_Bonus_Mission_Pack
It had past stories that you could play out as the characters of that story. In the end, after you finished the story, you got your choice of a weapon skin related to that story. It had multiple achievements to get as well, that would give you multiple weapon skins when you finished it too (well, it gave you books that you could turn in for skins).
I think that would work better than trying to incorporate it into the Living World somehow. It would be like reading a story that is interactive. Sell it on the Gem Store and people would gobble it up trying to get the new skins for new collections. Plus you’d get to learn about what happened in between those 200 years.
Sell it in volumes if you want, that way you don’t have to make a bunch of them at once. Have each volume tell a different story and offer unique weapon skin for that story as a reward.

Your BrainHex Class is Seeker.
Your BrainHex Sub-Class is Seeker-Mastermind.
You like finding strange and wonderful things or finding familiar things as well as solving puzzles and devising strategies.
According to your results, there are few play experiences that you strongly dislike.
Your scores for each of the classes in this test were as follows:
Seeker: 19
Mastermind: 17
Survivor: 14
Achiever: 10
Conqueror: 9
Daredevil: 8
Socialiser: 5
Sounds about right.
No sir, you can get the old precursors with the precursor crafting.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-legendary-journey/“Once you have your completed precursor, you are free to begin the process of turning it into a legendary weapon. It’s a long process of gathering the required materials to craft gifts that will eventually be given to Zommoros—the djinn at the heart of the Mystic Forge—who in return gifts you with your powerful legendary weapon.”
Ah thanks for that. I don’t know how I missed that post. I stand corrected.
You just gotta know what to mix and match to avoid the constant trench coats. Sadly, most of the good stuff is in the gem store, so you gotta buy it if you want more non trench coat varieties.
I personally went with a kind of steampunk feel on my Ranger. Used to have a neat tribal set up on her with Krytan gloves and boots, duelist top, vigil leggings, and avian pauldrons, but got tired of that after awhile.
What im curious about is, if you have all the gifts for a legendary but don’t have the pre, can you use the new system to get the pre for an old weapon and then make it, or does the old pre’s linked to the new crafting system.
The new system only works for the new legendary weapons. Meaning, if you want an old precursor, you have to farm it/buy it the old fashioned way. You can only get the new precursors with the new system.
From my understanding, and I’m just going off what I remember from a dev post on this, SAB needs a rework, completely.
A lot of the changes to GW2 have broke SAB and with them being busy with HoT, they haven’t had a chance to fix SAB. So right now, it is out of commission for awhile. After things cool down with HoT, and they have some breathing room, they’ll start work on SAB again. Though when that happens, is anybody’s guess.
Seriously you got nothing to worry about.
My suggestion? Buy gems now and hold on to them for whenever you are ready to spend them. If you are planning on buying gems, and a lot, and you have the money now, go ahead and start stocking up. It’s what I do. I buy gems whenever I have the cash to spend on them, and just let them sit there (forever it seems).
I’ve had gems on my account for almost a year now and nothing has happened to them.
The reason why I say get them now, is so you have them if something comes out. Like a time limit item or something, that you can only get within that day or week. It’s best to have the gems when you need them instead of not having them when something you want comes out.
Since beta, though been off and on for a few months at a time.
Except that the new legendaries do seem to have stories behind them and quests that pertain to those stories.
I don’t see anywhere in there where it says we are getting quests to find these new “legendary” weapons.
It is still the same thing as before, except more work is all. Instead of buying or finding a precursor, we have to craft it. Which takes as long as regular “legendary” does now. And we need new gifts, can’t use old ones, which require mastering all the different masteries, exploring all the maguuma, and needing a lot of the new map currencies. Then of course the new gifts from Fractals and WvW that will be needed.
And then to top that all off, the final gift we’ll need requires all that time we spent getting the other gifts, combined.
There is nothing in there about a quest system or how these weapons will tie into the lore at all. Just more of the same thing as before, but more work involved in making them than before.
Let’s face it its not vary legendary buy one from the TP. Having a gold dose not make you a legend, the needs you complete do.
Nothing legendary about farming a ton of random materials and then making a fancy weapon at a workbench either. But apparently that is legendary status to Anet.
Let’s face it, there is nothing legendary about the “legendaries” in this game. There is no story behind them (no legend to tell) or any of that. I mean it’s right there in the name, Legend. There is no legend at all to these weapons. They are just fancy skins that require a lot of grinding and farming and tons of gold. That’s not legendary at all. That’s just an expensive skin with flashy effects.
The only weapon that can even be considered somewhat “legendary” is The Flameseeker Prophecies. At least that has some lore behind it, but it is still just an expensive workbench created flashy skin.
So until we actually get some true Legendary weapons, let people buy these flashy skins with some gold. Because that’s all they are. Just flashy skins.

Well, the Halloween event is only for a couple weeks and then it’s gone till next year. HoT will be permanent and be here forever.
So no reason to rush into HoT right away, seeing as it will always be there. Unlike Halloween which is temporary.
The way I see it is, would you rather rush into HoT and have to deal with all the brand new expansion bugs and glitches? OR would you rather just have some fun, kick back and enjoy some good ol’ Halloween fun for a couple weeks, giving them time to work out some of the kinks in HoT, and some much needed downtime for yourself before you start on HoT?
I’d personally rather just have some fun for once doing Halloween stuff, and then get to HoT later after a few patches have been released (because there is going to be a lot in those two weeks lol).
Plus it helps lighten the load on launch as well. You’ll still get those who want to be the firsts into HoT, but it won’t be as much as expected with Halloween at the same time. So it will nicely split the playerbase, easing the overload on HoT for a couple weeks.
Here’s a passage from the News Blog:
…the Gift of Glory, purchased with the new tradable material Shards of Glory that only comes from Player vs. Player reward tracks; and the Gift of War, purchased with a new tradeable material, Memories of Battle, that only comes from playing World vs. World.
Gotcha. It’s still going to be harder to obtain legendary items now though. The old system is still superior to this new one.
The old “legendaries” are still the same, it is just the new ones that are getting the overhaul. So you can still do the old system to obtain old ones, but if you want a new one, gotta go through the tedious new system design.
Halloween is the best event of the year.
What is the worst event of the year?
Based on yearly events (and not promo events), none. Anet has always had a great track record when it came to holiday events. They were always extremely well done and fun to boot. Even in GW1, the yearly holiday events were a sight. It was always one thing I could count on with Anet to exceed at.
But if you just want basic events, including promos for upcoming content, then check out the Karka Invasion (which was still fun, but a disaster at the same time). Or the more recent Mordrem Invasion…. just ouch.
If you’re just starting them now, then no. It just isn’t rewarding at all, much like most of the stuff in this game. Tons of effort, for little reward. So stay away for now, at least until HoT comes out, then give it a try.
Because in the state they are now, it just is not worth it to get started. Especially with HoT coming soon and the new revamp to Fractals. Like Just A Flesh Wound stated, they need to greatly improve low level Fractal rewards if they want people to actually do them. Cause getting started in Fractals is basically a waste of time. You don’t start getting anything good till the higher levels, and before then, it is just wasted effort for little to no reward.
So wait till HoT. Then see if it gets better.
Saw this as well and was really excited to see it come back. I was disheartened for awhile by the other recent blog posts, but this really lightened my mood.
Well done Anet.
Not sure if I’m the only one but I’m always looking for new skins for various characters. One skin in particular that I would love to see in the game is the wizard hat. It looks super adorable on asurans! Anyone know if we will see it return to the game?
the wizard hat was for buying the deluxe edition during first yr of the game… I don’t see it returning, I haven’t used it on any of my chars for a long time, might have to see what it looks like on asura, lol.
Actually the Wizard Hat was a gift to new players buying the new Heroes Edition of GW2. But players complained that they got an exclusive hat and wanted it as well, so Anet caved and gave it to everyone for a limited time in the Gem Store for free.
The wizard hat is bug atm you cant dye it Q.Q
Not a bug, that’s just how it is. It’s never had dye options since its release.
That’s pretty much what I read too, even from the Legendary blog post.
Looks like a lot of grinding is coming in the future. Rather disheartening to be honest. I actually used to like this game, but now it is starting to feel like a job than a game. Games are supposed to be fun, this isn’t fun.
Never been kicked before because I always play with friends. BUT I have left groups before when I was pugging.
My reason? No one said hi to me when I said hi. :P
Well, HoT is permanent, and Halloween is temporary. So that pretty much makes up the decision for what to do first. You don’t have to rush into HoT right away. It will be there for awhile. Halloween on the other hand, will be a limited time and then you won’t get a chance again till next year.
And I don’t see it being rehashed content this year. Especially with the new Lion’s Arch. Can’t be the same obviously for that reason. So at least we know decorations and such will be different. Now just to see if the actual content will be the same. I am really hoping for new costumes, and not just old ones being tossed back in for new players. Give us veterans something new! Getting tired of old stuff coming back all the time, without anything new being introduced (Gem Store mostly is what I mean).
Either way, I’m looking forward to it. I’ll wait on being first into HoT just to get some Halloween fun in.
Gotta remember as well back then, there was no plans for an expansion and no news of one coming in the future. Living World was the path they were taking for all future content.
So the likelihood of introducing a new profession in the Living World was pretty much zero. So yeah, a lot of people said we wouldn’t be getting a new profession based on that information we had back in those days. The only way we were getting one, was if an expansion came out. But seeing as expansions were a no-no back then, we didn’t expect a new profession.
So…
You all are saying that they won’t unlock like everything else once you toss them into the forge?
Last I knew skins and minis unlocked to your account:
Tossing in the forge
Salvaging
Right Click Unlock
Minis are different, because you are destroying the mini from your inventory after you unlock it. Thus, you won’t have a mini to put into the forge.
Once you lock a mini to your account, it goes into your account wardrobe (or mini wardrobe). It’s not like a weapon or armor skin where when you unlock it, you still have it in your inventory and it is just soul bound. Minis are removed from your inventory completely and put into your collection.
So yes, they do unlock to your account, but unlike weapons and armor skins, you don’t get to keep it in your inventory to use after you have unlocked it.
Armors I’d like to see make a comeback:
Ranger Nord Armor
Mesmer Elite Enchanter
Monk Labyrinthine Armor
Necromancer Elite Cultist
Mesmer Obsidian Armor
Warrior Elite Canthan
Ranger Elite Studded Leather
Ritualist Elite Exotic
Elementalist Elite Sunspear
Paragon Elite Sunspear (would love this for my Revenant!)
Warrior Vabbian Armor
Elementalist Ancient Armor
Assassin Asuran Armor
And of course any of the Kurzick and Luxon armors. Loved all of those. (sorry for the long list)
