The part that I find rather hilarious is the automatic assumption that “Reactor Fractal looks boring!” means that “Abaddon Fractal is great!”

Sure you may feel disappointed in what the Reactor Fractal looks to be like. That’s fine. It doesn’t, however, mean that the Abaddon Fractal wouldn’t have been just as disappointing. In fact, given how hyped up some parties were/are about the Abaddon Fractal and some of the crazy ideas said people had about what it would contain, I’d actually say that the disappointment would have been even greater regardless of how well the Abaddon Fractal would have turned out.

It would be disappointing. A simple Fractal would not do the Fall of Abaddon justice.

Gotta think how small Fractals are. Would you really want to experience the Fall of Abaddon in a short mini dungeon? It would be insulting to put such rich lore into a tiny 15-20 minute Fractal.

For those that wanted the Fall of Abaddon Fractal, be happy that they didn’t do this. You would be extremely disappointed.

actually Kiel voters were claiming they expected it to do with Dragons, not Inquest.

Some, not all. I for one expected them running tests that dealt with the Elder Dragons, but I don’t believe that’s the whole story. There’s more to it than that.

A quote from the lore section that shows why some people thought that.

After the explosion (or maybe during?) the Infinite Coil Reactor that houses the Crucible of Eternity was built – the Thaumanova Reactor base was the Crucible’s “precursor” facility. Just south of the ICR, you can find chaos magic effects again. Given this, and some things found at Thaumanova – the four elemental tied areas (fire, nature, ice, water) which happen to all be tied to an ED (Primordus, jungle dragon, Jormag, deep sea dragon), as well as the purple crystal inside a cave nearby (same model as branded crystal), hints at the Thaumanova Reactor also being used to study the Elder Dragon magic. What’s also interesting is that the Infinite Coil Reactor also blew up, perhaps for similar reasons.

I don’t see what the problem is here.

We have always known exactly what the Abaddon fractal would be about, because it is already written in the lore. You can go read about it and know what is going to happen. It’s old news. We can’t change the past, we can just experience it.

No one had any facts about what the Thaumanova Reactor was going to be about, just speculation. No one knew what it would be until the content released and people played it (or watched the early livestream). It was unknown, and new. Something we haven’t seen before.

So what exactly are you “right” about? And what exactly is the problem here?

Yes, we did know, because if you talked to NPC’s outside and inside Thaumanova, they flat out told you it was Inquest.

If you thought it was a mystery, you didn’t explore enough.

I never said we were trying to figure out who caused it, cause we already knew that. We are trying to solve the mystery behind it and find out what happened and what is causing it to react the way it is and do the things it is doing.

So people who voted for Kiel based on the Fractals offered got exactly what they expected and voted for.

What’s the problem with that?

The fact that we all have to now suffer the permanent loss of the Abaddon Fractal.

Go read the lore on it. Yay, you now know what happens in the Abaddon Fractal. It’s old news, already written in stone. The Fractal won’t change that.

Sorry but I’d rather experience new stories and new lore, instead of reliving old lore that we already know what happened.

What new stories? If you followed the in game lore of the Reactor, you’ll find that the Inquest were involved. This, too, is old news. That being said, Abaddon was a god. The Inquest are just evil asura. Abaddon > Inquest.

It’s been like that since beta. They acknowledged that it was an issue, and that’s it. They haven’t mentioned it since, yet it is still an issue. Instead of using a smaller font, they just scaled the regular font down. Which in turn, fragments it and screws up the text.

Guess making text visible in their game is not a high priority, thus why it has been ignored since beta.

Your top 5 design mistakes in GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

1. DR/Grind/Time Gates/RNG: I get that other games have RNG in them, but here it is extremely bad. It goes beyond traditional RNG. Top that off with DR slapping you down and being stuck behind time gates with massive grinds to obtain anything, and it is just not worth the effort for anything. Like I always say, for a company that prides itself on not making grindy games, they sure do make grindy games.

2. Gem Store: What was supposed to be an innocent place for you to buy cosmetics and convenience items, ended up becoming a gamble fest. Gamble for weapon skin, gamble for dyes, gamble for minis, gamble for weapon tickets/scraps, etc. They just seem to care about conning money out of the player base by making them gamble for everything, instead of caring about player satisfaction. And the fact that the only armor sets and weapons we are actually getting, are in the Gem Store only. Cause god forbid we earn them through in game effort.

3. Ascended Gear: Even Anet admits this was a mistake. They straight up said, by level 80 we should have the best gear in the game. Yet the best gear in the game is behind a large grind and time gated. Introducing Ascended gear was the first step backwards on everything they stated GW2 would be. It was a panic move. They saw players leaving the game (which happens to every single MMO in it’s first few months), yet instead of learning from experience, they panicked and changed the direction of the game just like that to appease a small crowd that already quit.

4. Legendary Weapons: There is absolutely nothing Legendary about these weapons. It is an insult to even call them that. The word is right there in the title. Legend. You don’t do some epic storyline to get them, they don’t have some epic story behind them either. There is no Legend to these weapons whatsoever. They are flashy skins that require a ton of grinding, farming, RNG gambling, and tons of money. And they can be sold on the Trading Post. So please tell me what exactly is Legendary about that? Absolutely nothing.

5. Lack of QA: Let’s face it. There is a severe lack of quality assurance going on here. Anet doesn’t listen to their players, and straight up ignores them on the big issues. Take the recipe reset for example. So many players discovered all the recipes, yet Anet reset all the recipes all those players worked for. They lost gold, time, and materials spent for all that just so Anet didn’t have to make new recipes for us to level off. When the players voiced their concerns, Anet ignored them all and reset them any ways. Then the whole MF fiasco that made a ton of regular MF gear soul bound, instead of account bound like was stated by Anet themselves. They ignored everyone and then even changed the wording on all their statements to say account bound instead of soul bound. They lied to everyone and then tried to cover it up by claiming they never said that. Now here we are again with Fractals being reset. A ton of people are in an uproar about losing all their Fractal levels they worked hard for. And what is Anet doing? Ignoring everyone yet again. They don’t care what we have to say. They are going to do it whether we want them to or not.

And then there is all these content updates that are littered with bugs. Heck, even bugs since release are still here and being ignored. We get content patches every two weeks and every single time it comes out, it breaks a bunch of stuff and causes crashes. Then we get update after update to try and fix them, just to release a new content patch two weeks later that breaks even more stuff. It’s an endless cycle of bugs that keeps piling up cause they don’t fix everything before the next content update.

These are the reasons I quit GW2. There is also the Living Story to add there, with it’s nothing but achievement grind and filler content for a mini or back item, but I’ll leave it at those five (apologizes for the long post).

What does an expansion normally contain?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Typical MMO:

-New Race/Class
-New Explorable Map (usually only for high levels)
-New Weapons and Armors
-Increased Level Cap
-New Dungeons/Raids/Instances
-New Quests/Scenarios/Events
-New Skills/Overhaul of Skill or Talent System
-New random QOL Features
-Updates to old content
-New PvP Areas and PvP types

Since GW2 has never had an expansion, and GW1 only did Campaigns (besides EotN), we’ll use GW1 as a base for what you would get with a Campaign:

-New Classes (2 with each Campaign)
-Entirely new Map with all level zones (not just high level zones)
-New Quests/Storyline/Missions
-New Weapons and Armors
-New Dungeons/Instances/Elite Areas (raids kind of)
-New PvP Areas and PvP types
-New Skills/Overhaul of Skills and Builds
-New Heroes/Henchmen

I really hope that if GW2 ever does release an Expansion/Campaign, it is like GW1 Campaigns.

Fractal levels above 30 to be reset?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Yet again, Anet taking away stuff that we worked hard for.

This is the same thing that they did with crafting. All those people who discovered all the high level recipes, spent all that time, money, materials, etc to learn everything, lost it all cause Anet reset all the recipes so you could remake them to level up crafting. Everything lost, and no compensation whatsoever for everything we lost. They completely ignored all those people who lost everything with that reset.

Now here we are again. All these people who worked hard to make it to 50, 60, even 80 in Fractals. All that time and money spent to get that far, and now Anet is taking it all away from you and resetting Fractals. So you lose everything you worked hard for, and get nothing in return for it. All for Leaderboards that no one asked for.

What is with Anet taking things away from us all the time? Temp content, crafting discoveries, Fractal ranks, next thing we know they are going to reset SPvP ranks, Achievements, and all of our levels because of some fancy new reward system or more leaderboards. Don’t they realize that players don’t like having their hard work taken from them? Are they trying to drive people away from the game? Glad I quit this game when I did. Seeing this gives me no reason to come back.

Why do people stop playing GW2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Simple, I quit cause this is not the GW2 that was advertised to me.

Yeah I get it. It’s all cosmetic grind. But when your game revolves around cosmetics and nothing else, then you just made the basis of your game a grind. It seems to really get anything in this game you have to farm and grind, or spend real money. For a game that prides itself on saying “We don’t make grindy games”, they sure do have a lot of grind.

Every update introduces more and more achievement grind. That’s all they are. Some new story with plot holes and lack of character, with tons of new achievements to grind out for what? A mini or a back slot item. No new armor skins or weapon skins for us in the actual game. That kind of stuff we have to buy from the Gem Store. Cause god forbid we actually earn these things via actual game play.

Plus I’m tired of all the RNG gambling in the Gem Store. Every time we get new content, they introduce new weapons behind RNG gambling. The only way to obtain them is to gamble for them via lottery chests or Black Lion chests. And it’s always a chance you’ll get them, never a guarantee.

That on top of the horribly low RNG drop rate, with DR slapped on top of that, rewards are extremely lacking. I’ve been here since first beta, and I have never had an exotic drop ever. People always complain they have never got a precursor, try never getting a single exotic. I’ve had maybe four rares drop for me in all my time playing this game. Otherwise it’s green, blue, or junk. And the rewards for all the effort we put into things is not worth it.

I am really at a loss for what happened to this game. It showed so much promise in the first few months, then the famous November patch hit and everything just started going downhill. A complete 180 on their original direction, and going back on everything they said GW2 would be. I miss the old Anet that made games for the players, designed by the players. Because this is not them.

Is not solo'able

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

I will never understand the desire of some “players” to solo every single content of massively multiplayer role playing game. And not just the desire but entitlement as well. If you wanna play entire game solo w/o anyone bothering you just go play Skyrim (or any sp game, I believe there are many of those on market).

Oh crap, it looks like some parts of a massive multiplayer online game might not be solo-able.
Who could’ve guessed that?

You both need to think before you speak. Stop with the bashing of other players who want solo content and read first.

It’s the patch notes that state this is solo content. So before you go on your rants of how this is an MMO and that players need to go play single player games if they want solo content, realize it was Anet who made this solo content. Anet released content that is intended to be soloed. Yes I know, solo content in an MMO. Anet’s decision, not the players.

So if you want to be rude and bash on someone, do it to Anet. They are the ones who added solo content to your MMO that you think should always require a group. Otherwise, keep it to yourself.

Thanksgiving Holiday update?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

FlamingFoxx is right, even if it does come across as slightly rude.

You can’t cater to only one culture. Like was said, Thanksgiving is an American holiday. If you make a whole holiday in game for it, then you’d have to do the same for other cultures as well to be fair. It’s like saying why don’t we make an event for the Qingming Festival (my apologizes if I spelt that wrong)? Because it isn’t a shared holiday amongst all cultures..

Yeah, they can. They can do whatever they want… like Catering to the Chinese for the Chinese New Years…

In GW1…. when we had Cantha…. and it was the only location the holiday took place. It was called Canthan New Year, also the Lunar Festival. It was a celebration of the celestial animals that watched over the Canthans. And it only lasted for a weekend.

We don’t have Cantha here. And they don’t do two day events here either. Dedicating a two week event to one culture’s holiday is much different than having a two day event in a location that is based off a specific culture. It makes sense that Cantha would celebrate a similar holiday because it is based off the same theme.

Kryta is not based off American culture, it is based off a mix of cultures, thus it would be out of place to base their holidays on American culture. Especially dedicating a two week holiday to it. Wintersday and Shadow of the Mad King/Blood and Madness are based off holidays that many cultures celebrate in their own ways.

GW2 is a worldwide game. As much as other cultures would like to have their special holidays in game, Anet has to limit it to shared holidays or Krytan holidays to be fair. Otherwise, there would be events going off almost every day for everyone’s holidays and it would be chaos.

Anyone else simply bored?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer: deep breath

Stopped playing cause it was just boring and grind to me. Every patch introduced more achievements to grind with ridiculous numbers. They ruined Halloween, and I’m afraid of what they plan on doing to Wintersday as well. Events that were supposed to be fun, ended up being a grind and repetitive tasks. It was the same thing every update. Grind achievements, grind materials, do repetitive tasks over and over, and get rewarded a new mini or back slot. Play the RNG gamble game in the Gem Store for weapon skins, and buy new stuff in the Gem Store.

What ever happened to “we don’t make grindy games?”. That’s all they keep releasing is grind. Grind for mats, grind achievement points, gamble for scraps so you can get a weapon skin, I mean heck, last patch we had to grind out achievement points just to finish the story! I mean seriously? We can’t progress in the story unless we grind out achievement points for the meta achievement? That’s low.

So in the end, I was tired of it all. So I quit. Now I just visit the forums from time to time to see if anything major is happening. And I am disappointed every time to see the same thing still happening every patch. Nothing has changed.

Homophobia & the Ignore System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

So back on topic (or what Anet thinks this topic should be about), the ignore feature needs work. Creating a client side blacklist would be ideal to allow players to completely block a player from everything (which the current system doesn’t do). When you block a player, it should block that player from everything you see/do. Well, except visually cause you can’t really create a system that turns a character invisible if you block them.

But players shouldn’t be seeing blocked players in emotes, say, team chat, etc. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of blocking them in the first place.

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

The first suggestion is already in the game.

If you are not in range of your target, they have a basic red aura around them. But when you get in range, the red aura becomes more prominent, letting you know you are in range.

As well, there is red bars under your skills if you are out of range to use that ability. And AoE circles will light up red if you try to place them out of range as well.

Who uses "free camera" mode in Options?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

Does the GW2 SteelSeries keyboard allow you to do that with it’s macros?

If so, my mind..!

It doesn’t. It offers layers for quick switching with one key. You can’t use one key to do two different actions at the same time.

That Immersive Combat Mod does allow you to use one key to do two different actions at the same time. Something that normal players cannot do.

Thus, it gives an advantage, and it is bannable.

Creepy. Is it a default setting, or does it involve tinkering with the config file? More importantly, is there a ‘safer’ method to allow a set-up similar to what the OP requests, or what these ‘mods’ allow?

The mod wouldn’t even exist if it didn’t do what it does to have that feature. It is essentially allowing you to have full camera movement, while allowing you to still use your mouse buttons for other things.

A regular players has to hold down the mouse buttons to move the camera about, and cannot use them for anything else while they are being held down to control the camera. This mod does that, which is why it gives an advantage over other players.

The only way it would be possible to not have this mod give you an advantage, is if the mouse buttons did nothing. You still get the auto camera movement and aim with the mouse, but pressing the mouse buttons would do nothing. You would still use the keyboard to attack and such.

Otherwise, because it allows you to have full control over the camera, and use the mouse buttons at the same time (which normal players cannot do), it will always give an advantage and thus it is considered a bannable to use it. And you do realize that by saying you are going to keep using it, you are basically telling Anet that you are going to keep using this program to cheat and have an advantage over other players right? You do know you are basically telling Anet to ban your account?

Just an FYI, that Immersive Combat Mod is bannable. It gives you an advantage over regular players.

You can’t normally bind one key to multiple actions. Which is what that mod does. It allows you to do things that normal players wouldn’t be able to do.

Which according to the rules, will get you banned. So great job on advertising a bannable program and telling people you use it.

And Anet hasn’t responded to any of the threads that have constantly asked this question, so I’m going to assume there is no plan to introduce/reintroduce costumes (as this is something that should of been introduced on day one, not later during the event).

Unless you’ve missed it Fragment, most of the content released for this game is for max levels. There has been a couple that are for all levels.

This is a nice change for new players to experience the content and get some levels to boot. As well, if there is nothing good for you as a max level, maybe getting some boosters and running these events to level an alt would be something to do. You know, that alt that is collecting dust, that everyone sneers at cause they are “ugh” about leveling it. Now is a perfect time to do it.

As much as I personally dislike the way this event was handled, it is nice that someone thought of a use for it. And I agree. I have used this event to level my alt as well. And have accumulated a very nice stack of candy corn in the process (well…… not anymore. Darn kids keep casting some sort of spell on me to make me give them all my candy………).

This may seem like an odd post, but please stick with me a second.

Without going into any details. For a while now, I have felt increasingly nervous about putting time and effort into this game. The reason is that due to company policy, I don’t feel confident that I am protected from account termination.

In light of recent events, I am looking for ways to protect myself and my in-game assets. Meaning, I would like to hear your advice regarding how to make sure that if my account is terminated, my girlfriend and/or friends who choose to continue playing, will have access to anything of value.

Is the guild bank the best option?

The best option is to take out insurance based on the expected real life value of having to purchase all the lost in game assets.

I’m sure you will be able to find a willing insurance company and just as sure it will be a long painful process trying to collect from them.

:)

I wish this existed in game. I would pay for account insurance. :P

HA! I could see that. Like life insurance. Sign yourself a contract, and if for any reason you are banned permanently, your assets are given to your “loved ones”.

And lastly, enjoy yourself. Have fun playing a new game with your buds. Don’t get corrupted by the Forums of Orr yet, and just play the game and take your time. No need to rush. Learn stuff for yourself and with the help of your friends, and go explore what GW2 has to offer to you as a new player.

What you have to understand from the Forum Risen, is that we remember a different game than what you are playing now as a new player. So you’re not seeing what we saw when this game first came out. You’re seeing the game in the state it is now. You don’t have that jaded perspective that we all have from playing a different game awhile ago. Thus why I say, enjoy what the game is now and don’t listen to what it used to be, cause that doesn’t matter to a new player.

So welcome to GW2, and hope you have fun playing with your friends.

Protecting myself and my assets

The policy is unclear exactly on what the moderators would find as insulting and a personal attack. It is vague, and can lead to a lot of misinterpretation.

But on to your concern, best bet is to get a personal guild for you and your friends. If you are okay with sharing those items and gold with them at all times, put it all in there. As long as you trust your friends, go for it. It’s the only way to safe guard “your” assets.

The thing is as well, the “warning” talks about forum rights being removed, nothing about your actual game account. So if you get permanently banned from the forums, there is nothing stating that your game account will be permanently banned. Just your forum account.

Glad to hear that it was just misinformed players that were feeding me false information and that it is now cleared up. Still, 10k is a lot to grind for nevertheless.

And I understand where you are coming from, but my concern still yet stands. A storm was a brewin’. A mighty big one. Once it was noticed, a simple “this is not right, we are looking into this” would of calmed it. I get that you have to report to your superiors about it first, and that’s fine. But during all the wait time of trying to find out the issue, a little note to the players is something that is needed to reassure them that this issue is being investigated.

With the negative attitude that the players on these forums have had towards the company, in my opinion, it just seems like a high priority to inform them as soon as possible when an issue like this arises to keep the storm from escalating any further, and to show the players that they are being heard over big concerns like this.

Seriously, no apology? You went off half baked off second hand information and Linsey did an excellent job of kindly explaining it to you and still nothing?

I know it sounds simple to jump on and make a quick post but I am glad that they prioritised and like Linsey said, made sure no poor soul purchased it. At the end of the day, we are talking about a 1 day turn around here, not a week into the content. I would say that is pretty darn good.

No apology was necessary. If you read my post you would understand why.

I went off information that Anet themselves gave us (the whole community, not just me). They made a mistake by printing the wrong numbers, and let it turn into a negative disaster on the forums. According to Linsey, they found out about this right away, but didn’t say anything to the community about it. They let the storm build up, while they investigated the situation instead of giving the players a reassurance that it was being investigated.

It wasn’t until after they finally resolved the issue, that they finally decided to say something. After everyone has been upset and complaining about this for over a day now, they finally decided to step forward and say it was incorrect. You know what would of helped calm those players and put their mind at ease? The second they realized it was wrong (and they would of known instantly by all the threads that showed up if they really read these threads), they should of left a note with the community stating “this is not right, we are investigating this”.

It would of stopped the outrage that the players were in, and would of assured them that this was being taken care of and it was incorrect. But they didn’t do that. While they investigated it, they let the players get out of hand and let the negativity descend into madness over all this grind that was in the game.

And all because they applied the incorrect information themselves, not some second hand information. All that second hand information you mention, was from Anet themselves that all the players read. Anet started this, not the players. So I am not going to apologize for their mistake and not being able to inform the players of such a mistake sooner to avoid the storm that already occurred.

Don’t know. The release page doesn’t state any Acts like last year, so it’s uncertain if we will have any Acts this year.

But looking at the achievement panel, you can clearly see there is other story achievements that have not yet started. And as this is a month long event, it is safe to assume those will be released to us along the way in parts. Maybe once per week?

The only achiev that can’t be done at the moment is the “mad king says”.
If the others are locked it means you haven’t gone far enough in the Bloody Prince story.

Ah, yes. I forget that we have to do the meta achievement in order to progress in the story. Which, in turn, is rather ridiculous that we have to grind out achievements in order to see the story.

But with that in mind, it seems there is no acts to this then. Just Mad King Says, and that’s it.

The Past is Painful to Watch

I think the point of this thread (and correct me if I’m wrong), is that the game has take a huge turn from what it was originally intended to be since beta.

It’s not a matter of just those skill videos, it is a matter of the game as a whole. People are disheartened because the game they were sold, is not the game we have today. And for some, that is a bad thing. They wanted what was advertised to them, what they were sold on, what they saw in the betas and release. Not what we have now.

And it makes them sad to see what has become of what they once enjoyed.

The problem is, the original idea didn’t quite work out. The game lacked stickiness.

Its a MMO, and the MMO crowd wants stuff to work towards.

For some, it didn’t work out. Otherwise, it was perfect the way it was for everyone else.

But Anet reacted to those select individuals and gave them what they wanted. Which in turn, ruined the game for those that did not want that. It was a complete reverse decision on how the game was advertised, just to appeal to the traditional MMO player instead of doing something new for once (like they advertised).

They could of stuck to their guns and said “This is what we are offering. If you want your traditional MMO features, go play your traditional MMOs. GW2 is different and offers you a different experience”. But they didn’t. They gave in, and made GW2 more traditional to appease a portion of the player base while ruining the game for those that wanted that something different.

I’m talking about the recipes to make the items. Gift of Souls, Gift of the Moon, and Gift of Spiders.

In game, players are saying to make the recipes it takes 100, not 10.

And my concern still stands though. The problem was, you guys responded to several posts in this section of the forums and several posts everywhere else in this forums. Yet we had several threads on this same subject since release, and not once did anyone respond to it and say it was an error.

Players are over here getting upset with this, and not once did anyone decide to reassure the players that it was an error out of all the posts on this subject. Yet you guys had the time to answer random stuff in this same section instead of handling this error.

Why closing the user-created thread?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

My guess? It was becoming too negative for them, so instead of letting the community continue discussing it, they closed it.

Like you said, it was a community made thread, not moderator made. It was a discussion just like any other and ending the discussion by closing it was not their call.

But according to the rules we have, we are not even allowed to have a discussion about moderation. It against the rules to discuss it. So I’m guessing the only reason they left it open temporarily was to gather a bit of information (because of their whole new “let’s talk to the community” thing they are doing), and then close it to keep it from getting out of hand since they wouldn’t be there to moderate it anymore.

But I agree. It was a community thread, not a moderator thread, and should still be left open for debate. But seeing as it “breaks the rules”, I don’t see that happening.

Hey guys, looks like the update notes were incorrect. These recipes do not require 100 of the mega materials, they require 10 (that’s 10,000 not 100,000 fangs/skulls/nougat). Sorry for the confusion! We are getting the update notes fixed!

Are you fixing them in game as well?

Because whether the updates notes say 10 or 100, the items in game say 100. So changing the update notes won’t matter unless you fix them in game as well.

And if this was a mistake, then why wasn’t it fixed awhile ago when this was first mentioned in all the threads complaining about it? Why wait until now to admit this was incorrect instead of yesterday when this issue was brought up?

because Anet?… or human error?no use complaining now unless they dont fix it

My concern is this.

They created a big ol’ thread on collaborative development and how they listen to our feedback and read the threads on these forums.

Yet since this update launched, people have been upset with the amount of grind required to get these weapons. There has been a lot of threads on this same subject in this section. All of them talk about how you need 100,000 materials to make these items. Numbers up the wazoo in all these threads about this “bug”.

The problem is, if this was indeed a “bug” that needed to be “fixed”, and if they do indeed read the threads and listen to our concerns/feedback, why wasn’t this brought up the instant it became an issue? If they honestly do read the threads and listen to us, they should/would of known about this the second we brought it up.

The event has been out for well over a day now, and they are just now acknowledging this “error”? An “error” that we have been talking about a lot since this event first started? Right away this raises the flag that they really aren’t listening to us and really don’t read the threads, or else they would of known about this “error” and would of done something about it yesterday instead of now (seeing as this is a rather large “error”).

And just to add a little fyi here, we didn’t get a patch in game for this, and asked around in game, and it is still 100k to make, not 10k.

The stuff that was deleted wasn’t about the topic at all. It was a dispute between a couple players about their qualifications of being a journalist and if they were allowed to call themselves that.

It was off-topic, and according to the new rules, I’m guessing it was insulting and a personal attack on that particular person.

Any point to Halloween Events?

in Blood and Madness

SpyderArachnid.5619

its a holiday event that is supposed to be fun. Tell me what is the point of Halloween and why do people dress up?

Fun is subjective. What someone else finds fun, you may not. Doesn’t mean it isn’t fun still. This “fun” holiday event has brought a lot of grind and a story that you can’t do unless you grind out achievements. And to top that off, achievements removed for doing certain activities (ex: pumpkin carving and clock tower).

And there is no costumes in the store to dress up in. So unless you got them last year, you can’t dress up in a costume.

I’m not even going to get into the “point of Halloween” cause that would take forever.

You won’t get banned. There is nothing in the rules that says you can’t sell your guild for in game currency. Heck, people are selling dungeon spots for in game currency and they are not being banned. People are selling invites to custom arenas to farm points, and nothing is happening to them.

So I would assume selling your guild to someone is not going to get you banned. Though clarification wouldn’t hurt.

I don’t see the issue with “You have been warned” being used in the final line. It’s just there to denote the seriousness of the post. It more or less relates to the paragraph just above it.

The whole post itself is a warning on it’s own to inform you of the consequences. There is no reason to add the “You have been warned” line at the bottom. It is threatening and unnecessary when the whole post already states that.

You don’t need to add the extra emphasis at the end to warn people when the post itself clearly states exactly that. It is aggressive, threatening, and unprofessional.

It sounds like a threat. It is just unnecessary to have that line.

I get that you want people to curb the insults and such, but maybe instead of being aggressive about it, you should be more professional about it. Sinking to their level isn’t a good way to get your point across.

Has ANet ever NOT used RNG?

in Blood and Madness

Posted by: SpyderArachnid.5619

SpyderArachnid.5619

They’ve always used RNG. All MMO’s use RNG.

I meant more so do they have any substantive data that RNG earns more money than just listing the item at a fixed price?

At first glance RNG seems like a clever pricing tool to capture willingness-to-pay across the board, but I (incorrectly) assumed that decreasing consumer goodwill would negatively impact that over time.

No, you’re about right. That is exactly what will happen, and is already starting to happen.

RNG via real money will always give more money over just selling the item outright. Because people are buying tons of lottery boxes over and over to get that chance of getting what they want. Where is, with selling it outright, people buy one or two and that’s it.

But you’re right. In the long run, this is going to cost them. Not money (well maybe money), but respect, loyalty, and players. They see their customers as money bags, instead of actual people. They look at it as “how can we con more money out of them this time?” instead of “what would our players enjoy that would keep them around long term?”. They’d rather make the quick buck off us now instead of giving us a fair deal. Which in turn upsets players that they are treated this way, and causes them to lose all loyalty and respect that they once had for the company. Thus, no longer spending any money at all, when they would of if the items were sold straight up.

In turn, they end up losing more players in the long run cause of these cheap tactics, losing the loyalty and respect of their current player base, and money in the long run. But they don’t care about that. They just care about what us money bags can give them right now, rather than what will happen to the game in the future.
