Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]

So basically all the recipes we discovered, we are going to lose them all now. All that gold and time we spent discovering all those recipes is being flushed down the drain. There is no compensation for all that gold or time we lost either.
Well no. THREE devs posted that you won’t lose weapon recipes learned from a recipe consumable (ie. a recipe you paid for). The discovered recipes cost the exact same amount of materials per make. So unless you’re really stingy about having to google the recipe and clicking the 4 pre-requisite materials for your Pearl Greatsword, there really is nothing to complain about.
I already know that you won’t lose bought recipes. My post is talking about discovered recipes. And yes, they do cost the same amount of materials to make. I know that.
What you are not getting is that all that money we spent on materials, all those mats that we used up, all that time we spent discovering all those recipes, is going to be removed. We are losing all our gold, materials, and time spent for all those recipes we discovered.
And now Anet is telling us basically “oh well, do it again”. Meaning we have to spend all that gold again, all those materials again, and spend all that time again, re-discovering all those recipes all over again. And this is coming from our own pocket. Anet is not reimbursing us for all that gold, materials, and time they stole from us. They are making us spend all that gold, materials, and time all over again from our own wallet.
So yes, the complaints are valid. Anet just basically stole all our gold and materials that we spent discovering all those recipes and is giving us nothing in return and making us do it all again. Imagine if Anet took away all your gear you worked hard for and spent a ton of money on and left your character bare because they added a new feature to how to obtain gear. You’d be rather upset right? And their only response is “oh well, do it again” with no compensation for everything they took from you. That means you have to spend all the money and time gearing your character back up again with your own gold and time, because Anet didn’t reimburse you for something they took away from you.
(edited by SpyderArachnid.5619)
I can see why they did this change, but at the same time, I dislike it. It is lazy design and is going to upset a lot of players (as obvious from this thread).
So basically all the recipes we discovered, we are going to lose them all now. All that gold and time we spent discovering all those recipes is being flushed down the drain. There is no compensation for all that gold or time we lost either.
They are taking away something we worked hard for, and then telling us to do it all over again without giving us any sort of compensation for everything they took away from us. So instead of adding new recipes for us to discover or learn, they take away all our hard work and tell us to do it again. Regardless of the fact that we just lost a lot of gold and time for nothing now.
Yeah I hate this change. Unless they are going to refund us the gold we spent discovering all those recipes because they took them away from us and are making us do them all over again, I’m not going to bother with crafting anymore. This is a horrible thing to do to your players. Make them spend a lot of gold and time discovering all these recipes, and then take it all away from them and tell them to do it over, without any compensation for all that gold and time they lost.
Saw this on a post in another thread and felt it deserved it’s own discussion.
Isn’t it rather sad that the most popular feature of GW2, is a mini-game that has nothing to do with GW2?
Kind of puts things into perspective if you think about it. People are more interested in a Mario style game instead of the actual game. Just seems rather bad that out of all the Living Story stuff we have received, a mini game that is not really GW2 at all is the most popular of them all.
Just makes you feel this game is doing something wrong if people are more excited about an 8bit Mario game instead of the actual GW2 game.
The only thing I find sad is how every single new content patch that has been released in the last 2 months is met by dozens of cry threads. I like the super adventure box, I have been waiting for them to bring it back since they got rid of it. If you don’t like it then don’t play it, 14 days after release there will be something else that you may like that I don’t, how about acting like an adult instead of that five year old in the cereal isle screaming because mommy won’t buy him his favorite sugar rush.
Calm down and relax friend. There was no crying at all in that post. No reason for insults. It makes you seem more like a child when you throw insults at people without understanding what the discussion was about in the first place.
Read first, then reply.
I simply said it seemed rather sad (not the players are sad), that the most popular content that everyone is looking forward to, is not even about GW2. Just felt that it kind of gives a negative impression on GW2 as a whole, when your players are more excited to play an 8bit Mario style mini-game instead of the actual game itself.
And as I said before, but I guess no one saw it since they keep saying the same thing over and over (ex: “it’s a nice change of pace”), why do we need something that isn’t GW2 inside GW2 just to have a change of pace? If you want a change of pace, play another game. Don’t bring other games into GW2. Keep GW2 as GW2. Otherwise you ruin what the atmosphere of what was GW2 by trying to please everyone, by bringing their favorite game into GW2 (ex: Mario, CoD, etc). Next thing we know the Charr are going to build race cars and give us a racing track to appease the Need for Speed crowd.
I think Mad Queen Malafide nailed it on on the head.
It isn’t that SAB is better/more sought after than regular GW2 content… It is just content that very different than regular GW2 content, and therefore a nice change of pace.
But if we want content that is different from what GW2 is, then why not play a different game? Why bring that content that is not GW2, into GW2?
It’s like saying it would be a nice change if GW2 introduced an army first person shooter mini game. It has nothing to do with GW2, but they should add it any ways.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me. If I want a change of pace, I’ll go play a different game. I don’t need to bring Mario or CoD or anything else like that into GW2 just to enjoy GW2. GW2 should be GW2.
Saw this on a post in another thread and felt it deserved it’s own discussion.

It’s something fun. Nothing wrong with that.
I myself would prefer some meaningful story content for once. But This is better than more Scarlet the Sue.
I get that to some, it is fun. I understand that.
But I still find it rather bad that content that is not GW2 related and was an April Fool’s joke, is more sought after than actual content to the GW2 world and story.

I have seen no evidence to suggest that ascended weapons won’t have sigils. Can you link where you are getting this information?
I mean it is also possible that the new ascended weapons will all have level 1 stats and do damage to you instead of the enemy when you use them… but there is no valid reason to believe the devs would do this…
Just using Ascended gear as a base for what Ascended weapons will be. Ascended gear doesn’t use Sigils. It uses Infusions. So I (we) would just assume that Ascended weapons would follow the same path as their armor counterpart, since they are from the same set.
Otherwise they wouldn’t be Ascended weapons if they didn’t share the same characteristics of Ascended gear. They would be a different tier like Destiny or UberPwn weapons instead of Ascended.
But that’s simply not the case. Nothing was “replaced” at all in ascended jewelery. The slot was moved directly into the stats and then an infusion slot was added in addition. Jewelery never had sigils or runes. Nothing was removed from those slots, only things were added. I don’t see any reason the weapons won’t be the same.
Sigls are different from Jewels though.
With earlier Ascended gear, they used jewels. Weapons use sigils, not jewels. So those extra boosts to your stats don’t come with weapons. Weapons have different effects that happen, like increased crit on hit or lightning strike on hit, etc etc. It isn’t +10 power or +10 toughness like jewels.
With Ascended gear, they just added the usual jewels that would of been equipped, into the stats. But you can’t do that with weapons cause they don’t use stat jewels. They use sigils that give situational bonuses.
I thought that the “special function” refers to the announcement that you can switch the stats on the legendary weapon. Example – Bolt comes standard with soldier’s stats – switch to berserker.
Yeah just now saw the release page that now says that. Which is excellent news.
Legendaries are also receiving additional functionality: When out of combat, Legendary weapon bearers will be able to choose between different stat combinations for your weapon.
Still concerned about the other part though. Whether or not the Infusion is going to replace the Sigil, or be added onto it with the Sigil. Would love some clarification on that at least.

I think my main concern with this right now is that “legendaries” were supposed to always be a fancy skin that had the same power of the current top tier weapon. Not stronger or weaker, but equal to the top tier.
Now it seems they are going back on that philosophy.
Either “legendaries” are going to be weaker or they are going to be stronger. Look at it this way. If they remove the sigil slot and replace it with an infusion slot, they are going to be weaker. But if they keep the sigil slot and add an infusion slot, they become stronger than the current top tier. Meaning they are going against their whole cosmetic philosophy on what “legendaries” are supposed to be either way.
And then there is this whole “other functions and stuff”. What other functions? Is it something that will give an advantage power wise? Give you a buff or a fancy debuff to your target? Or is it just some flashy special effect? Again, one goes against the whole cosmetic thing while the other is for it. But to call an effect a function is wrong. So what could this function be, that won’t give someone an advantage over anyone else?
I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me, but Anet seems to be going backwards on a lot of their philosophies about this game. This whole “legendary” deal is just one of them.
You are correct, they were always supposed to be the same power as the best tiered weapon.
That’s why they are being matched with ascended weapons, something we have known since November.
And Anet has said all along that they intended ascended to be the top tier but they just couldn’t get it out in time.
If they came out a year from now and introduced a new tier, then sure, I’ll get on the boat with you. But as it is right now Anet is sticking to their word and I don’t see much of a problem with it.
And I get that they are being escalated to Ascended status, stat wise. That is completely understandable cause that is what we expected them to do.
The issue is, what are they going to do about the Sigil slot that is already on the weapon to begin with? Are they removing it, or adding an infusion slot with it? If they add an infusion slot with a sigil slot, it will end up being more powerful than current Ascended weapons, making “legendaries” top tier. Which goes against the original philosophy of what “legendaries” are supposed to be. They are supposed to be equal to top tier, not stronger or weaker.
And we have no info about what these “special functions” are going to be, and for all we know, it might give an advantage over regular Ascended weapons, making “legendaries” stronger than the top tier. Which again, would go against their philosophy.
I guess we’ll just have to wait for more information on this, instead of speculating the worst outcomes.

A lot of temporary content that you’ll never get to see, so really, nothing new for you. There is a content patch going on now though that you can take part in, but it will more than likely be gone soon too like all the other temp content they keep introducing.
Otherwise yeah. More RNG, new minis, couple new skins in the gem store, and a lot (and I mean a lot) of farming/zerging. People are even failing events just to farm them and report you if you try to complete it. Plus new achievements being introduced all the time that are just a grind (click 100 of this, get 150 of this, do 200 of this, etc etc).
They now have a currency wallet as well and all currency is account bound. You can’t deposit money in your bank anymore either, you have to carry it around with you at all times (Anet’s suggestion is for everyone to make one person guilds if they want a savings deposit). There is still way too many currencies either way, and more are being added still. But at least they aren’t cluttering up everything like before. They’ve done several nerfs/buffs to stuff as well and reworked a few professions.
If Ascended gear was Anet breaking their oath to you, than you are going to be even more upset about that. They’ve introduced a lot more Ascended gear since then and have gated it all behind different things. And it’s time gated as well so expect to be farming and waiting awhile before you can get a full set, much more if you are trying to gear your alts too.
But hey. You’re already downloading the game, so might as well give it a check for yourself. No monthly sub so you can jump in whenever.
(edited by SpyderArachnid.5619)
Yeah my first character got their present, while my others have received nothing. Yet they were all created at the same time.
It’s the gambling and rng in the gem store that people are complaining about, not micro-transactions in general.
Micro-transactions are fine. There is nothing wrong with cosmetic or convenience items. It is when you start making players have to gamble or play the rng game for those items. That is when greed comes into play.
Selling the items straight up might seem like it would net them less money, but it would keep the players happy and make them spend more on stuff they actually want cause they can outright buy it without it being tied behind some sort of lottery. In the end, they would have happier players who are willing to spend money over and over when new stuff is released in the gem store.
Gambling/RNG on the other hand, drives the players away from the gem store. It is not fun wasting your money away on a chance for the item you want. It frustrates players and makes them not want to ever spend money in the gem store again. This in turn might earn them more money in the beginning cause of the tons of money people are throwing away at gamble boxes, but in the long run, it is going to hurt them. Players will stop spending money and won’t even bother supporting the company anymore if these tactics continue. They lose respect from their players and in turn, lose money cause they aren’t buying anything anymore.
That is why people complain. Micro-transactions are fine, but gambling and playing the RNG game in the gem store is not. In the long run, they are going to lose money and customers. There is already people constantly protesting the gem store and won’t spend a dime as long as these tactics continue. Which in turn, is less money for Anet the more they keep doing this. If they sell the items straight up, sure they might make less money than the gambling they have been doing, but they would gain the respect and trust of the players in return and have their customers spending more money down the road for all the new things they release, instead of them spending nothing at all.
Don’t worry. Anet will cave in and give them the Heroic Edition items for free if they whine enough. All these entitled players who cry on the forums always get their way.
It is the same thing that happened with the Wizard Hat on their last promotion. Kids came here whining and crying that they couldn’t get it, spreading their entitlement around because they are Collector’s Edition holders and should be allowed to have everything no matter what because they are the ones that are paying the bills and they are “veteran” players and deserve everything over new players.
Now here they are again shedding tears because the Heroic Edition gives a free set of Gem Store armor (a skin), and they think they should get a free set as well. Ignoring all the stuff that they have that new players will never get, all the exclusive temporary content that they got to take part in, that new players will never see. They must have this gem store skin for free like new players or else Anet doesn’t care about them.
So don’t worry folks. Just like last time, Anet will give them what they want cause there would be no GW2 without them.
Hmm… no Vayne yet?
The manifesto was fine. GW2 lived up to it. The only thing(s) in the manifesto that they didn’t live up to, was the whole “Your Story” aspect. You were just along for the ride. It wasn’t your story at all. Everyone took credit for everything you did, making it all about the NPCs, and not you.
The only other thing in that manifesto that could be considered a lie, is the “We take everything you love about GW1, and put it in GW2” phrase. Because it is more of an opinion. For some, everything they loved about GW1 is in GW2. But for others, it is far from it. My personal opinion, is no they didn’t. Most of the stuff I loved from GW1 is not in GW2 at all.
Otherwise, the rest is fine and true.
Just a nudge, but check your graphics settings.
I usually run on High settings with my game, but when I logged in today, all my settings were dropped to Medium and Low. Had to readjust all my settings all over again.
Something this patch did I’m assuming, cause they were fine before.
Yeah this was a rather disappointing change.
I stacked up all mine in my bank, and then grabbed them on my Mesmer to start. Was going to alternate my alts depending on what the group needed, but now I can’t do that. I can only play my Mesmer now as they have all my tickets.
I don’t understand the point of this change. Maybe a reasonable explanation from Anet as to why this was necessary?
I don’t see this 10g you are guys are talking about. Maybe if you are selling mats and drops on the trading post and such, but just from drops alone? No. You are not making 10g in 40 minutes.
Did this for about an hour, and made around 2g. That is from looting everything that dropped and doing all the events in the area a few times. I salvage everything I get for mats and then sold the junk. Didn’t sell anything on the trading post.
Culling? He’s supposed to fight a Flame Legion, then an Ogre, possibly something after that, finally it’s Rytlock. Sucks that you didn’t see it.
Hmmm maybe different for everyone else? For me he fought a Flame Legion, then a Bandit, then a Quaggan. Was rather funny.
So stop being immature about it, and just man up and admit the truth. You’re upset that you didn’t get the Abaddon fractal, so you are going to throw a fit and bash on the Reactor fractal cause it is not what you wanted.
Didn’t care for Abaddon lol. I only cared for discounts off the market :P.
It was only a discount on Black Lion Keys, nothing else. So Gnashblade was supporting RNG gambling in the gem store and was going to offer a discount on the keys so you could gamble even more and lose more money. Which in turn puts more money in his pockets. Doesn’t sound like a good deal to me at all.
Yeah, but I’m thinking about future discounts that probably would of been doubled if by chance he was elected. Anyways it was a lot of better deal than what Kiel was offering plus character.
But that’s the thing. It’s all a big “probably” or “maybe” or “if”. He only guaranteed discounts on Black Lion Keys to support gambling in the gem store. He didn’t guarantee any other discounts at all. It is just everyone assuming he will if he was elected.
And Gnashblade a better character? No one even knows what kind of character he would be because he has been in absolutely nothing. He has done nothing and hasn’t set any kind of status or base on who his character even is. We can’t say he would be a better character when we know absolutely nothing on what his character would even be.
Cheaper waypoints decided this victory that is all.
Poor people should be banned from voting.
So let me get this straight.
Cheaper Waypoints = Poor People
Cheaper Black Lion Keys = Rich People?
So those who voted for Kiel for something cheaper are considered poor, but those who voted for Gnashblade for something cheaper are not? Way to be a hypocrite. No matter who you voted for, you were getting something cheaper. So in your words, we are all poor and none of us should be allowed to vote.
So stop being immature about it, and just man up and admit the truth. You’re upset that you didn’t get the Abaddon fractal, so you are going to throw a fit and bash on the Reactor fractal cause it is not what you wanted.

I’m quite surprised Ellen won myself. Everything I read, it should have been Evon by a landslide. Something is fishy.
Why? It just meant the Evon supporters were louder and more excited, but fewer in number.
I think he’s referring to the fact that all Evon’s campaign promises were good things with an awesome story and all Ellen’s were things that will make no difference and a story that will be a snooze fest.
Something is definitely fishy. But it’s really not. All the botters and grinders want cheaper WP. Duh.
There is nothing good about Gnashblade’s campaign. He was going to make Black Lion Keys cheaper so we could play the RNG gamble game more often. How is that good? Why do you want to support RNG gambling in the gem store? And then to top that off, he wants to dwell on something that happened in the past instead of focusing on current issues that we are facing. How is that good? Yes let’s ignore the current problems we are having so we can reflect on something that happened thousands of years ago that doesn’t matter anymore……
Since you have a crystal ball there that tells you exactly what this Fractal will be, why don’t you tell us more about the future oh great seer?
Point is, you have no idea what this fractal will even be like. You can’t call it CoE 2.0 cause no one has any idea what this fractal will be. Casual and Hardcore doesn’t even come into play whatsoever in this discussion. Since we have no idea what the new fractal will be, we can not make any claim that it is designed for casuals or hardcore players.
So stop being immature about it, and just man up and admit the truth. You’re upset that you didn’t get the Abaddon fractal, so you are going to throw a fit and bash on the Reactor fractal cause it is not what you wanted.
People seem to not realize this, but these are not the two best ideas that they will ever have in the history of GW2. These are just a couple ideas from a group of ideas they had currently. They picked the best two out of a group of ideas for a fractal.
That does not mean they are the best ideas ever in the history of GW2, past, present, or future. They were just the current best ideas from that small group of ideas they had at the time.
There will be plenty of other best ideas out there in the future for GW2. They didn’t waste their only two best ideas ever on these two fractals.
I know they would deny it, but I would bet heavily that this whole election thing was fixed in the first place. Due to the fact they have to plan what they are doing in this next patch, and they can’t have a person win and change everything at the last minute.
There is tons of data-mined info that would prove that theory wrong. They have the data for both candidates winning in the dat file. And the data for both of them losing.
If it was fixed with Kiel automatically winning, they wouldn’t of made all the Gnashblade winning data in the first place.
Don’t worry. You can take off the tinfoil hat. Just gently set it beside you and realize that all is well and there is no conspiracy theory.
You must have missed a great amount of text in GW1 if you feel that GW2 is sillier. I feel that if GW1 was fully voice-acted as GW2 is, that it would feel sillier. There was a LOT of silly dialog in GW1, but very few of it was in the cutscenes.

Show me something similarly dark and beautifully made in GW2.
@Spyder
The idea of building a fantasy universe is continuity. It’s the concept of creating a world that feels immersive and sadly we don’t have that anymore.
I’m not saying GW2 shouldn’t be its own game – i’m saying it should build on the foundation that was GW1. It should take the best elements of GW1 and show us what they look like after 250 years.
They had some very cool areas, some very good ideas back in that game. Why toss all that aside when you can build on it. You don’t need to recycle old lore but what you fail to understand that continuity is brought by the fact that NEW lore comes from OLD lore. It’s linked. You can’t just take things away – put other things in unless it makes sense. And a lot of it doesn’t.All I’m saying is build GW2 as a game in the present, but use the past as a foundation. Take the good bits from GW1 and change them – bring them up to speed and slot them in while adding new elements. Make the best of two worlds instead of discarding 6 years of lore, content and fun times that we had.
But that’s the thing though. It is just old memories. We can’t change what happened in the past or do it different. It will be the same old memories no matter what. What should matter more than anything is what is currently happening. Not dwelling in the past.
I know, there was a lot of old memories and fun times in GW1. But they should stay that way. Memories that we had. Bringing them into GW2 and “revamping” them is just going to ruin those old memories. We remembered them for what they were at that time. And that is how they should stay.
We need to move on instead of living in the nostalgia of GW1 and the times we shared with friends there. We are 250 years in the future. Things change. We need to just learn to enjoy our memories for what they are, instead of trying to relive them again. Cause all that will do is disappoint us cause they will never be as good as what they used to be.
The human gods are extremely relevant to GW2. That should be easy to see.
Except their not. The gods have been silent for over 200 years. So they don’t have any relevance to GW2. The only relevance is who you worship. Other than that, they are not present in GW2.
Here’s the problem – GW1 Lore wasn’t all about humans ( see EoTN) – it had some really cool areas ( UW,FoW,Crystal desert) which could fit very well into current GW2 lore. I fear that if they move away from GW1 lore they’ll lose a good number of opportunities to make this game more fun and engaging.
Anet spent a lot of time fleshing out a beautiful and unique world in GW1 only to see most of it tossed away with the release of GW2.
Except for some skill and item names, some professions and the geographical overlap GW2 doesn’t share that much with GW1. The tone is different – moving from a more epic and serious way of presenting the game to a more casual and mundane one.
I fear these changes are going to increase now with this vote – and sadly it will be a loss for the entire playerbase. Those who didn’t play GW1 can’t really understand it since they have no basis for comparison. To those of you who are making the " the majority has spoken" argument let me say this : the next vote they make about what fractal they should make or where to take the living story should sound like :
- option a – human lore
- option b – non-human lore.
And let the majority decide then. Human beings play mostly human characters. And in turn they want mostly human lore. So if you want the majority to decide then I think it’s pretty much not a contest at all.
Thing is, GW2 is 250 years ahead of GW1. The lore has changed drastically since then. So why should we do content based on old lore? Why can’t GW2 make new lore for itself? There is so much to build off of in GW2 for new stories and experiences. Why dwell in the past?
I loved GW1 and the lore it had. Keyword: had. GW2 is 250 years in the future from GW1. It shouldn’t have to live off the old lore of GW1 to be successful. It needs to move on and make a name for itself. Sure little references are fine and dandy. But content shouldn’t come from old lore that is in the past. It should be based on the present. The GW2 lore, not something that we’ve already done in the past.
It is because there is way too many threads on the same subject. No matter how differently the titles are worded, they are all the same thing said in every single thread.
So instead of spamming up the forum with new threads about the same thing over and over, keep it consolidated to only one. As well, keep it civil. Those threads were full of flaming back and forth from both sides. It is nearly shameful to be a part of this community with what everyone is saying towards each other.
As well, this thread will probably be locked/deleted too.
Abaddon is still affecting the world through the butterfly effect.
Thaumanova spawns a few veteran mobs and a fire elemental once every half an hour. Yip.
Except the Abaddon fractal is a memory that does absolutely nothing to the current lore. While the Thaumanova is a problem we are dealing with currently. So again, living in the present is better than living in the past.
The problems that are affecting us currently are what we should be worried about. We shouldn’t be investing our resources into a dream sequence so we can relive what already happened centuries ago. It’s the past. Nothing will change it. But we can change and deal with what is currently happening, like the Thaumanova.
The consequences of cheaper waypoints? In comparison to what? Cheaper RNG keys to gamble away?
Explain to me how the consequences of voting for Kiel is bad compared to Gnashblade. Cause as I see it, it is way better. Gnashblade supported RNG gambling in the gem store. Kiel supported cheaper travel.
So yeah. I’ll gladly deal with the consequences.

And the long term game story? So re-living old lore that has no affect on the current game, is better than investigating current lore that is currently affecting the game now?
Yeah because we really need to dwell in the past instead of taking care of current problems…..
Abaddon’s death was followed very shortly by the dragons awakening. Try to claim that’s just coincidence.
Abaddon’s fall shaped over 1000 years of Tyrian history and continues to do so even after he’s dead.
Without Abaddon’s fall, imprisonment, and ultimate death:
- The Crystal Desert would have been a Sea this entire time
- The Gods would perhaps still live in Orr
- Abaddon wouldn’t have reached out to the Charr
- The Searing wouldn’t have happened as well as the Gates of Komalie being opened.
- Shiro wouldn’t have assassinated an emperor and froze the sea into Jade and petrified a forest
- The plague in Cantha wouldn’t have happened, and the Ministry of Purity wouldn’t have formed, meaning Cantha would have remained open to outside trade until Bubbles blocked the seas.
- The Cataclysm wouldn’t have happened, Orr would never have sank, killing all its people and then rising later giving Zhaitan a plethora of corpses to reanimate
- Palawa Joko never would have been released unto the world again and Elona would not be completely taken over by Zombies right now
- Kormir would not be a goddess.
- The White Mantle would not have risen to power, the current line of royalty in Kryta would not be the same
- The Ebon Vanguard would not have went far to the north of Ascalon
- Gwen wouldn’t have been kidnapped
- That means Jennah wouldn’t be queen, Logan may have never been born
- That means either Destiny’s Edge never would have been formed or whoever replaced Logan would have not fled, Snaff would be alive and Kralkatorrik perhaps dead.Butterfly effects everywhere.
Don’t claim Abaddon has no effects on GW2.
And again. When did all that happen? In the PAST.
The fractal is about the past of what happened to Abaddon. It is not current. It has nothing to do with the current lore of GW2. It is about what happened in the past, even before GW1.
So again, why should we dwell in the past, instead of taking care of current issues that we are having right now? You seriously care about the past that much, that current problems we are facing are meaningless? It’s in the past. It is not a current issue we are facing now. All it would be is a flashback to something that already happened. So why is a simple flashback to the past more important than current issues we are dealing with?
ALL of it leads to the current events. Things would be massively different without Abaddon’s fall, the Dragons may not have awoken.
But it isn’t current. That’s the thing. We are not replaying Abaddons fall to rewrite history. We are just playing out the memory of what already happened. There is nothing current about it.
It would basically be a dream sequence that you get to watch what happened all those centuries ago. You are not changing history to alter the future. You are dwelling in a past memory that will still be the same no matter what you do.
You are not changing the past. You are just witnessing what happened. Thus, dwelling in the past instead of dealing with current issues.
Thaumanova is also in the past. More recent history, but it is still history.
Except Thaumanova is currently affecting the game now. It isn’t something that happened centuries ago.
Definitely congratulations!

It was never about that and people who voted on that note are morons. It was about the fractals and what character would have the most inventive and interesting living story down the road. We wouldn’t be reliving older lore Abaddon’s fall from grace was NEVER shown before and much isn’t actually known about it. It would be something new and amazing on an old theme we never got to see.
Kiel is just Trahearne as a character. A boring goody two shoes story to be had. There is nothing interesting there.
I just said it was about Fractals, and then you said it was never about that, then say it was about Fractals? What?
And yes, it is old lore. It does nothing to advance the current story of GW2. It is living in the past. The Reactor is current. It is a problem that is current. The investigation of it will advance the the lore of GW2. So why should we be living in the past instead of dealing with current issues?
And you still didn’t even address why Black Lion Keys are more important than cheaper waypoints.

Like most, no. I don’t care if you crafted it or bought it. There is nothing impressive whatsoever about these “legendary” weapons.
A Legendary weapon shouldn’t be something that is crafted or bought. It defeats the whole purpose of it being a Legendary. A Legendary weapon should have a Legend behind it, thus why it is called a Legendary. It shouldn’t be something that you just spend a lot of gold on or RNG in the mystic toilet over. There is absolutely nothing Legendary about that.
They are just fancy skins, and that is all they ever will be. Until some sort of epic storyline is put behind getting one of these weapons, they will never ever be considered Legendary. Anet should seriously change the name of them to something else cause calling them Legendary is an insult. When a weapon requires a ton of gold and playing the RNG game in the mystic toilet, or spending tons of gold on the TP to get it, it is not at all deserving of the title Legendary.
Thus there is nothing impressive about them. It just proves how much you can grind or how much money you have.
It is not my case but:
What about the people who used to have things separated for each character because maybe, the father plays the warrior, the sister the mesmer and the brother the necro so each one could play his own character ?
Will they need to note any single thing they had not to use the other one gold or tolken etc ?
I am saying this because may be some will encounter this problem and may be it is zenleto.6179 ’s issue…I personnaly think that this change is great but can’t help thinking about the people in this case.
Well they shouldn’t be sharing an account in the first place (seeing as it violates the rules), and Anet will not support account sharing. So that’s their problem, not Anet’s if they decide to put their account at risk.
OT: I’m happy for the currency wallet. Finally a useful change that has been needed since launch. One thing I do not like though, is the gold becoming account wide. I kept gold in my bank so I didn’t burn a hole in my pocket wanting to spend it. I also kept certain amounts of coin on each character as a spending limit to stop me from spending all my gold.
Now all my characters are going to have access to all my gold all the time. Which is a bad thing and causes people to start wasting gold more often cause they have it available all the time now. The bank was a nice way to deposit gold so you could keep so much gold in a “savings account” for something you were working towards.
Sorry but this seems like a step backwards now. And if I want to keep the gold just on my characters, I can’t log on them. Otherwise once I log on them, it is going to transfer to account bound. So basically if I don’t want to use this feature, I can’t log into the game at all. So guess it’s just time to say goodbye.

As I mentioned in an older post above, I tried that already. Didn’t change anything. Still getting this intense bloom effect.
Bringing this back up again as it is still not resolved.
Got some new screenshots as well on a different character to show that it was not just my Human that was dealing with this issue.
Seems the further and further I go into my Personal Story, the worst it gets.
Yep… guess I’ll jump on this.
Sign me up for Team Kiel.
Ignoring the bickering and just want to say thank you for the kite. This was one of the items I was waiting for with this update, and glad to have received one. Absolutely love it.
If you’re just doing it for the skins, it won’t take long at all. For 30/50, you can get it rather quickly. 50/50 is the tough part that will take some time and serious investment.
There is a lot of old GW1 players that are willing to part with a lot if you ask nice enough. From minis to alcohol and sweet points, they can help you get started. Then you just need to beat the campaigns, which if you rush, you can get them done in about a week or two. You can also find people willing to help you with Destroyer weapons to get that monument filled quickly as well. Then just save up money or get some help again, and you can get some elite armors to fill that section.
As for 50/50, expect a lot of grinding. Those titles will be killer and will take the most time. Everything else is pretty easy and can be taken care of with friendly “Veterans”.
Pay to Win implies “paying”. If you can exchange in game Gold for in game Gems, it’s no longer considered “paying”, since there’s no purchase required.
Case dismissed.
While I agree that this is definitely not P2W, your comment is a bit misinformed.
Yes we can trade gold for gems, but those gems do not come out of thin air. Someone is paying for those gems. So while you may not be paying anything for converting your gold to gems, someone had to of bought those gems first before you could even convert them. So in the end, someone is still paying real money for those gems. They aren’t free. It’s an exchange.
This is one thing a lot of players seem to forget. Gems are not free. You are exchanging your gold for gems that someone else paid for. Money is still involved. Otherwise, there would be no gems to trade your gold for if no one bought them.
Figured I’d get a word in here before Vayne shows up and steals the show.
I’ll just address one though for now. The dye system.
That quote was from before beta. When things were still in a “subject to change” mode. Nothing was written in stone and we knew that. Still it was upsetting of course, but we knew that things change during the process of creation. It is how all games are.
Now in comes Crystin Cox (who we all just know and love):
There was a time when the dye system was very different and at that time dye unlocks were account based, but we have since changed the dyes system and we really feel that character based is the right way to go and the system we have now is the best one for the game.
Customized dye should be something that denotes your characters progress, like better looking, more elaborate gear. As you spend more time on your character, they grow and gain access to more customization options. If we make dyes account based, this progression will only happen on one character. We wanted character customization to remain tied to the character but we felt that one-time-use dyes discouraged players from customizing as often as they would like, that is how we arrived at the current system.
There are 400 dyes in the game, we do not think of dyes as something that a character should unlock all of, it is not meant to be a collection feature. Each character should have a unique palette and we have made enough colors to make this possible. Dyes come from world drops, rewards, crafting, the Mystic Forge, and the Gem Store and we expect that over the life of a character you will collect a lot of them.
We are still developing and the dye system will continue to receive attention and improvements, but changing it to an account based system is not something we are considering right now.
Edit: Well drat. Vayne showed up before I finished. lol
He is talking about the PvP rng chest you get from the achievement chest.
As others have said, they are actually account bound. You click to deposit them to your collectables and they go to your PvP Locker in the Mists. And all your characters can access the PvP Locker to get the gear from it.
They are basically just skins for PvP only.
Well, what about SoS, F&F, Lost Shores, and Last Stand? If you missed those, you can’t ever get them again. So people who got those achievements will always be ahead of everyone else no matter what.
Yet not one single person is complaining about that..
You do realize that the above ^^^ is completely contradicted by the below right ?
I see it brought up here all the time,
If you weren’t misquoting me, you would see what those actually meant and how they don’t contradict at all. How about actually reading what I said, before you misquote?
I said I see people saying in this thread, “what about all the temp events that are now gone that you can no longer get achievements for?”. That is what I said I see people saying all the time. The other part of my post talks about how no one is complaining about the fact that people who got the temp event achievements will always be ahead if others didn’t get them.
