Maybe you’ll have to give some sort of clarification on what you are talking about exactly.
I don’t see anywhere on the site or in the game that shows any swimwear in the gem store or at a vendor. Where are you seeing this town clothing swimwear at?
Link?

Might want to read this.

And from what I recall, they never said they would never release expansions. They just stated that expansions are not on their list of things to do at the moment. It is something they are looking towards in the future maybe, but currently they are trying to strengthen the base game right now.

Don’t want to agree or disagree as there is many different ways this can go.
If we are considering that Guild Wars 2 is a AAA MMORPG (like they said it is supposed to be), then no. They have not released an “expansion worth of content”. When you think of a AAA MMORPG, you think of Warcraft, or Eve, or even Rift. The big games that overwhelm you with content in an expansion. The few content updates we have received in Guild Wars 2 (and no, I am not counting holidays as those are standard in any MMORPG and do not count towards expansion content), are not equal to an expansion.
But if you consider Guild Wars 2 to be your typical F2P MMORPG, then yes this content is sufficient to call an expansion worth of content. F2P MMORPGs have small expansions which don’t have a ton of content. A dungeon here, a few new quests, some bug fixes and new features, and some new cash shop items. Nothing major or game changing. The few content updates we have received from Guild Wars 2 is similar to that of a basic F2P MMORPG.
But even then, it is all temporary content any ways. None of this new content that we have received is even here anymore. Except for of course the new Southsun content, but even that won’t be permanent. Only pieces of it will remain. The whole thing won’t be here. So we’ve had a bunch of temporary updates with tiny bits that still stick around. Personally, I would barely call that a patch worth of content compared to other MMORPGs since it isn’t even here to stay.
But to each their own. Everyone has their own opinion on what is an expansion worth of content, and mine is no, it is not. Temporary content is no where hear an expansion worth of content, much less a patch worth of content compared to a AAA MMORPG (which is what Guild Wars 2 is “supposedly” supposed to be).

What the hell forced the Arenanet company to rely on RNG anyway? what happened to developing a smaller RNG based on the species of what we killed… if anything the RNG needs a rework based on a family tree. i have yet to see a dev reply to the first posts…
Anet will never respond to any of these posts about RNG (lottery) Boxes (these posts have been around since the introduction of the Black Lion Chest, and they still haven’t given a response). There is nothing they can say at all that will make any of this better, so they keep quiet about it. They just ignore it and concentrate on other things instead. We the players already know why they do it, and why they will continue to do it, regardless of how much the community hates it.
It’s obvious. No post from Anet is going to change that.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
As I said in another thread, the downside of temporary content is new players will never see it, thus it never existed to them. Making GW2 seem like nothing has been added since release.
While the content is alright for those that are already playing, and we know it was there, new players will see nothing. It’s like playing the “vanilla” version of the game to them since the content is always temporary. Thus it seems like Anet has done nothing.
The content is decent while it is here, but they need to start working on permanent content, not all this temporary stuff. Temporary content is for holidays, not actual storyline content. Otherwise you’re leaving new players clueless to what is going on in the game cause they never get to see any of this storyline content cause it is all temporary.
Again, players need to see that stuff has been added to the game. They need that reassurance that Anet is releasing new content and the game is alive and healthy. Temporary content goes against that and leaves new players seeing nothing being done to the game since release, since it was all temporary.

While I wouldn’t mind seeing different HoM weapons instead (Stormbow being one of them), I am happy with what they are.
Changing them now would end up upsetting a lot of players who actually do like those skins. They worked hard for those skins, and now you want to change them into something else they may not like? That would be a horrible business decision.
They’ve already changed a few items completely in game because they didn’t like the look, and they did this after people had already spent the money/karma on them for the previous look they had (Heavy Orrian Karma armor and the Asuran Cultural armor for example). This upset a lot of players and Anet received a lot of hate for changing stuff that players already spent money on. Especially when those players bought these items for the original look, not the new one it was changed to.
If they changed the skins in the HoM, you’d have a lot of upset players who worked hard for those skins and are now having their weapons changed to something they didn’t want.
From reading the forums here, Anet seems to be on thin ice with the players right now and this would just add to the rage. So while I wouldn’t mind seeing new skins from GW1, let’s not replace skins that people already worked hard for. I’d rather them introduce classic skins to the gem store like they did with the Tyrian, Profane, and Primeval skins.

If you could buy them and every man and his minion had one. Would they still be so desirable? I think not.
I think so.
I don’t buy something cause no one else has it. I buy something cause I want it, regardless of who else has it. This isn’t some sort of competition to see who can have the rarest items and flex their manhood (or womanhood for you ladies). I buy something cause I enjoy it myself. I don’t care what others think.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
The encounter you describe is guarding a skill point. Usually in these cases there’s a Veteran (local enemy or monster) guarding the “commune with nature” skill point, but this time it’s an NPC, an evil shaman. I don’t really get why this is such a problem to you. It’s just a bit of flavor that makes it more than “kill this griffon so I can get to the skill point.”
Now, sometimes during development plans change, and things get cut from the game. Perhaps instead of a skill point it was going to be a jumping puzzle or something, with the evil shaman at the end. But they couldn’t get something right or had a different idea for the area and they adapted what they had into the skill point and its guardian.
In real life, things don’t always happen the way you want them to.
I kind of see what you are saying now. Something like Side-Personal Stories.
Where you have your normal Personal Story, but each area also has several Side Stories that follow the same mechanic as the Personal Story. Is that what you mean?
Edit: reading your post above made me think of how missions work in The Secret World. Would love stuff like that in GW2.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
(edited by SpyderArachnid.5619)
No it wouldnt. Because quests/missions whatever, would be instanced, and one-time only for your char. The difference between quest lines and DE’s are that quests are not repeatable, they are one time only, and meant to tell a story. There could be some detailed quest-line telling the story of this child murdering vilnia shadowsong.
Instanced? So you basically want to turn this into a single player game. This is an MMO. Questing shouldn’t be instanced.
And if they are one-time only quests (like traditional MMOs), then what would be the incentive to go back to that area again once you finish all the quests? It would be a dead area once players do all the quests and move on. Zones would end up like they are in other MMOs. Dead. Since you did all the quests there, there is no reason to go back there.
In GW2, events will always be there. If you don’t want to move onto the next area yet, you can stay in the zone you are and keep doing events you’ve already done and be rewarded level appropriate experience for them. So if you love a certain area, you can level up in just that area if you wanted. You can’t do that with quests. You have to move onto another area once you do all the quests.
Most DE’s have a story behind them. It just takes a little talking to learn it. Talk to NPCs in the area, talk to Scouts, talk to the Heart NPCs or the person who comes running up to you to tell you about a DE going on nearby. They will tell you about what is going on in the area and give you a backstory so you are not lost. But a lot of people don’t do that and then they complain that there is no story to anything. There is, you just have to talk to people to learn it.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
1000 gems is a lot to be giving away every single day randomly to anyone that logs in. Plus it would seem like an act of desperation to get their population numbers up.
And with all the RNG “hate” going on right now, this is probably one of the worst things they could do.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
This is why you need quests, missions, call it whatever you want.
Wouldn’t adding quests be the exact same thing that you are complaining about?
“Let’s complain about the manifesto and call what Ree said a lie! The game doesn’t care if I am there, the boss respawned 10 minutes later, and everyone is doing the same thing I am!”
“We need quests because of this! Quests that everyone is doing the same thing, the boss we kill respawns 10 minutes later, and it doesn’t care that I am there!”
Quite contradictory of you. You complain about something that you feel is a lie, and then you want to introduce something that is exactly what you are complaining about.
Umm… what?

Pick up an instrument!
Can’t tell you how many times my guitar has filled the gap of wait times for downloads. Just browsing the web looking at tabs and chords and learning new songs, while I wait.
And in the end, you get a new hobby that doesn’t require electronics. Something to do when you lose electricity or just want to kick back and relax. You just pick it up, and play.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
A little back information might be a bit more helpful into finding out your issue.
First off, you needed EotN in GW1 and you had to fill up your Hall of Monuments in GW1 in order to receive any rewards. You don’t get rewards just for linking your accounts.
The Hall of Monuments rewards you for the work you did in GW1. If you didn’t put anything in your Hall of Monuments, or didn’t even have Eye of the North expansion, you’ll get nothing in GW2.
As well, how long ago was it that you used that GW1 account? Was the account banned? If it was banned, you get nothing. Even if you did do the Hall of Monuments.
A bit more information might help.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
This guy is right. You may be able to make yourself a little less squishy with toughness, vitality, a shield..but the way the aggro system works means there is no tank. Even with the toughness and vitality you can’t just eat boss damage the whole fight..you are still bouncing in and out. It’s just the design.
you can keep the boss solely on you though making sure that no dpsers would ever take any damage.
You can’t though. Cause anyone else can run in and do the same thing you are doing and take aggro right off you. Since you can’t taunt or anything to gain that aggro back, there isn’t much you can do about it. Which in turn, just negated your “tanking” to begin with.
As well as what was mentioned above, a tank is also supposed to soak up the damage while being healed by the healer. You can’t quite do that either in GW2. Since there is no direct healing, you’re going to die eventually trying to soak up all the damage. All the AoE heals in the world aren’t going to let you stand there taking the full force of everything without having a dedicated healer to keep the tank going.

Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
It doesn’t though. Don’t know where you heard that, but that doesn’t affect it at all.
Aggro is random in this game. I’ve run plenty of dungeons with people who claim they are tanks, yet they can’t hold any aggro on a boss or mobs. I’ve seen casters pull more aggro than a “tanky” character can. Shoot I remember doing a massive chain event in Orr where one poor little Elementalist was constantly being chased down by the boss without even attacking it, while all these melee heavy armored players kept chasing it down the whole time. They just ran in circles till the boss was finally dead cause it wouldn’t leave the girl alone.
Your stats don’t make you more of a target because your toughness and vitality is high. I can easily pull aggro off anyone with my Mesmer that is a heavy armored profession.
The thing is, without actual threat generation and aggro/taunt mechanics, you can never be a guaranteed tank. You can gear up all you want like a tank, but it doesn’t mean you will be a tank.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Aggro
“who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor”
“Another tactic involves reviving fallen allies in turns to draw a NPC accross the battlefield, while the other players attack it. Highly challenging enemies such as Champions and event bosses indeed value reviving to the point of sometimes ignoring any other factor, while stopping reviving will draw their attention to the more classical threat sources.”
They indeed will turn around and attack a person if a) he is doing a lot of healing on himself or others b) has a lot of toughness.
So yes, you can tank. It’s especially if you have a guardian or a warrior (with auto-regen), but doable on any class.
Way to half-quote the wiki and take it out of context.
If you read the whole thing, and I’ll say it again, Toughness and Vitality do not make you a tank. There is many factors that go into whether you will have aggro or not on a mob.
Just like I said. I could easily pull aggro off someone with a Mesmer. Who is not even a tank. All I have to do is do enough damage or get in melee range of the boss. Plus all the other factors that it takes into account like yes, resurrecting someone. Anyone can do it. Doesn’t make it a tank thing when anyone can do it.
You are trying to state there is tanks in GW2, which there is not. There is ways to get aggro doing many different things, but they are not tank specific. Anyone can do it, thus anyone can pull aggro and threat. There is no traditional mechanic to give a tank threat in this game and have them control the aggro distribution. Anyone can do these tactics, thus negating the whole tank role.
So again, there is no tanks in GW2.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Might be wrong, but, year after the original GW released we already had Factions and Sorrow’s Furnance.
Not to mention PvP was great and you could play it endlessly.
Yep a year after Prophecies released, you had Sorrows Furnace (which is not as replayable to me as Fractals, or even close) and you had Factions (which was a completely different game that split the population in 2 parts and caused other problems as well). Of course Factions wasn’t a free expansion, so you can’t compare it, can you?
The monthly content patches we get are free. And some people seem to enjoy them. If you don’t, I’m sure you can probably find a game you like. After all, you’re not paying for the expansions.
There is only one small problem with that though.
The content they have introduced all this time, is all temporary content that is gone now (except for Fractals). So if you are just joining the game now, it is like nothing has been added to the game since release.
Sure those of us who have been playing since beta, have seen all the new content. But any new players won’t see any of this new content that was released. They will still see the base game only. Cause it was all temporary content. So to them, nothing has been added and the game hasn’t had any updates since Fractals.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Right where you are standing, you can drop down in front of that shack. Head forward a bit from there and you’ll see some rocks and a tree (I believe). You can hop up those rocks and onto that hill and just run up it to the Vista.
Been awhile since I’ve been in Queensdale, but I’m pretty sure that is how I did it.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Might be wrong, but, year after the original GW released we already had Factions and Sorrow’s Furnance.

You were right.
Prophecies was released on April 28, 2005. Sorrow’s Furnace came in a patch on September 7, 2005. Factions was released on April 28, 2006. Exactly a year after the release of Prophecies.
GW2 was released on August 28, 2012. It hasn’t even been a year yet. And Fractals was released on November 16, 2012.
So unsure what your comparison is all about, but they seem to be on the exact same schedule so far as to GW1 was. GW1 was released, Sorrow’s Furnace was introduced in a patch, then an expansion came. GW2 was released, Fractals of the Mist was introduced in a patch, and several new (temporary) content was added as well. As for an expansion coming in August, we have no idea. We have no information to compare it to, so you can’t really compare it to how GW1 did their expansions.
Also take into account that the first Guild Wars was a small game in comparison to Guild Wars 2. So there is lot more work involved in making content and expansions for Guild Wars 2 than there was for Guild Wars.

As much as I am at fists with Anet, this is probably the worst place to ask this question. As you can tell, the forum is the place where you learn the bad news about the game. So my suggestion is to try it out yourself and see if you would recommend coming back yourself, instead of listening to what others say.
But with that out of the way, here is some quick info for you.
Seeing as you left a month after launch, sadly it is going to feel like no new content has been introduced if you are coming back right now. All the content we have been getting is all temporary content that is gone now. Except for the current content that is here, but it will be leaving when it is over as well. So while a bunch of new content has been added, it was all temporary so you won’t see it any ways. Thus feeling like nothing new has been added.
A lot of bugs have been fixed since launch, even new features have been implemented to some of the basic systems. The bots and gold sellers at release have been cut down a lot as well. Barely see them anymore. You can also preview items now in the trading post, back slots have visual appearances now (well some of them do), there is a lot of other things changed about drops and such (say hello to the wonderful diminishing returns mechanic and all the new RNG on everything).
As for any sort of progression, they added Fractals of the Mist. Which is basically a never ending dungeon that requires a new gear type called Ascended gear. Which you get from doing Fractals, Dailies, Guild Missions, and the Mystic Toilet. So if you’re looking for some sort of gear grind with some kind of progression, there ya go.
The gem store has been loaded with all kinds of new stuff. Including the long awaited Makeover Kits and Name Change Contracts. A few new clothing items and some weapon skins you missed and holiday costumes that are no longer there.
All in all, I’d say log in for yourself since the game has no subscription, and give the game a look over. Never hurts to check things out. If you don’t like it, you can just go back to whatever you were doing. If you do like it, it doesn’t cost you anything to start playing again.
Hope that helps.

Without proper aggro and threat mechanics, there is no tanks. Just cause someone has a lot of HP and toughness, doesn’t mean they are a tank. Since you can’t play the role of a tank by holding aggro, then you are just another dps like everyone else.
aggro depends on your toughness, vitality, how much you heal and how close you are to the enemy. You can easily hold aggro with high toughness.
It doesn’t though. Don’t know where you heard that, but that doesn’t affect it at all.
Aggro is random in this game. I’ve run plenty of dungeons with people who claim they are tanks, yet they can’t hold any aggro on a boss or mobs. Too bad Arenanet just replaced the holy trinity with the holy unity: They dumped healers and tanks but kept the DDs in the game.
Unfortunately, I can’t disagree. I wish I could, but I can’t.
3000 toughness feels pretty tanky to me. Healers are hard to do, but tanks are still here.
Without proper aggro and threat mechanics, there is no tanks. Just cause someone has a lot of HP and toughness, doesn’t mean they are a tank. Since you can’t play the role of a tank by holding aggro, then you are just another dps like everyone else.
Sorry but when you go charging into a boss fight wearing your “tanky” gear, and the boss completely ignores you and chases my Ranger down instead and then jumps to the Elementalist while you chase it about everywhere, then you are not a tank.
On topic, as to what I miss from my old MMOs? There is a ton of stuff. But one thing I do miss most out of all of them, is probably Fishing. All the previous MMOs I played had fishing in them. It was a nice relaxing thing to do while waiting for a group, or a dungeon, or just taking a break, or just chatting with friends. Plus all the fishing achievements to complete and all the fun rewards you got for it made it worthwhile.
So yeah, Fishing is what I miss out of anything else.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Yeah like I said, some of them sell actual gear for you. Others sell random stuff that isn’t useful to you at the moment though.
Just keep an eye out for the ones that actually sell gear though.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
When it comes to gearing as you level, don’t waste money on the Trading Post. Use your Karma that you are earning by doing all those events.
In each area there is Karma vendors that sell level appropriate gear to the area you are in. These are the Heart npcs. After you complete their hearts, they turn into a vendor that sells you stuff for Karma. Some of them have gear that you can buy to help fill the slots of gear you don’t get from drops.
But like I said, don’t spend it on the Trading Post to gear up. It becomes addicting and you’ll be buying new gear every few levels if you get into the habit of doing that. Then you’ll end up broke by the time you are 80. Just stick to using Karma, since you will get a ton of it as you level.
As well, doing your Personal Story along the way rewards you with level appropriate gear. That will also help with gearing up here and there and getting some nice xp to help level quicker.

Finally, some good sense on the threads! Let’s have some summer clothes, beachwear, and summer (cooler) armors too. No one would were heavy plate in the summer sun, they’d be boiled alive!
Yes oh my god this will make the game so amazing! kawaiii desune swimsuits to make all these desperate young men happy with their female characters!!!
Please for the love of Lyssa, tell me you are trolling and don’t really act like that. lol
On topic, I don’t really see an issue with it. At least it will be better than people running around in their underwear. I’d rather see people in a bikini or swim trunks (which is meant to be seen in public), than people running around in their underwear (which is not meant to be seen in public).
It almost feels degrading and embarrassing to have the game strip you down to your underwear when you are on the beach or doing diving goggles. It’s rather humiliating to be forced to walk around in your undergarments in public. At least swimwear would be tolerable since it is meant to be seen in public.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Magic Find is a worthless stat in general. Whether Southsun or just running around normally. It does absolutely nothing.
Magic Find is one of those stats that was designed to make you feel like you had a higher chance. When in reality, you actually don’t. When a game is based around nothing but RNG, Magic Find is completely worthless. Sure it may say that you have 800% Magic Find, but in the end, you are still relying on RNG for your drops. The same RNG that those with 0% Magic Find are dealing with as well.
Go kill a Champion or something and watch 0% MF guy get an Exotic, while 400% MF guy gets a Blue. RNG is RNG. Magic Find does not change that. Thus, it only gives you the illusion that your chances are better, when in actuality, they are the same as everyone else’s.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Honestly, I hope not.
Ascended gear is supposed to be an optional thing. Nothing in the game requires Ascended gear except for Fractals, and that is how it was designed to be. This way you didn’t have to farm Ascended gear just to play the other aspects of the game. But if you wanted to do Fractals, you needed Ascended gear for it.
That is also the reason, at the time, that Ascended gear only dropped in Fractals (or the mats required to forge it was from Fractals). Since you only needed it in Fractals, it was the only place to obtain it. It was optional gear that was not needed outside Fractals (except if you want to get into PvP, but that’s a whole other debate).
If they were to add Agony to the open world, it would defeat the whole purpose of Ascended gear being optional, and then make it a requirement to survive in the regular world. Which in turn, would add more grind to the game as everyone would then have to grind out Ascended gear sets just to play the regular game when we never needed them before.
It would then truly add a gear treadmill as Ascended gear would now become a requirement to play the normal game, instead of just being an optional gear treadmill.
So no, I don’t want Agony in the open world.

I would take this review with a grain of salt, if that. MMORPG doesn’t know anything about this stuff.
These are the same people who review games they have never played, or review a game they played in beta, and then wait almost a year to try it again and think they are qualified to tell you everything about the game they never even played.
Heck, just recently they did a review of TSW. Which they only played the first month. Then logged in recently and now think they can do a review on the state of a game they never played in all that time.
Yeah, they sure know what is a top MMO….. /sarcasm

You should of been here when The Lost Shores was first released. There was tons of conspiracy threads that had a lot of interesting data on how Anet was being taken over by Nexon/NCSoft. There were so many references that Anet put in the game that hinted at it and made a lot of sense. The forum even had several topics on all these references and conspiracies, but I believe most of them got locked or deleted.
But honestly, and in my opinion, it is obvious what is going on. No doubt about it. It wasn’t until a certain someone from Nexon was hired that all this started happening. You’d have to be blind not to see it.
But of course everyone is going to say “they have to make money somehow” or “this pays for future free content”. Sure it does. But it shouldn’t do it at the expensive of your reputation and the respect that players used to have for you. Sure a business is there to make money, but these kind of tactics go beyond that. There is other ways for a company to make money than making their customers waste it on a wheel spin of chance. All they are doing is destroying what little respect the players had for them, and tarnishing their reputation.
While it may seem good to them now that they are making money this way, in the long run, it is going to cause more harm than good to them. And they just don’t seem to care.
EDIT: Aha! And I found a couple of them. lol

You just have to do events while you have the Consortium/Settler buff is all.
Just talk to either one of them, get their buff, then run around the island doing events. I think it is only five that need to be done to get the achievement for either side.

Word? You must be really bad at reading comprehension. This game is all about cosmetics. There’s nothing that is difficult, there’s nothing that is acquired by skill. Even legendaries are a product of farming. Mounts would be another tool in the cosmetic arsenal this entire game is designed around.
Somewhere along the line you came up with the idea that I am the only one asking for this. If I were, then I’d be selfish. Unfortunately for you I’m not. The people saying no have selfish reasons, selfish because they rely on pointing fingers at one other game, and talking about blocking npc’s, or because there is no need (which is the funniest because having something else to spend time getting is what an mmo thrives on). But alas, you’re right. I’m so selfish, so selfish that if they implemented mounts I may be the only person to be on one.
And if you think people don’t play games for things that are viewed in today’s gaming world as essentials such as cool looking mounts, cool looking gear, cool titles, etc… You are kidding yourself. Where do you think “carrot on a stick” came from in mmos?
Like I said, it’s whatever.
It seems you don’t even know where “Carrot on a Stick” came from.
Carrot on a stick is a phrase that refers to an endless treadmill. No matter how hard you work at something, you will never finish. Basically, a carrot on a stick. You hold a carrot on a stick in front of the horse you are riding, and no matter how hard the horse works at getting that carrot, they will never reach it.
It was used in games like, again WoW for example (I’m not comparing, it’s just the easiest and most familiar game to reference for players). WoW has a gear treadmill. And no matter how far you go into that treadmill, you will never reach the end. Say Tier 6 gear was max gear at the time. You would spend tons of time and work trying to reach Tier 6. And by the time you get it, Tier 7 is introduced. Now you grind and grind for Tier 7, and by the time you get it, Tier 8 is introduced. It is a never ending cycle. A carrot dangling on a stick that you will never reach.
What you are talking about has nothing to do with that phrase.

Yes because mounts will be a complete game changing feature in this game that will make millions of new players flock to GW2. Seriously? Get real.
I don’t want mounts simply because there is no reason for them. You haven’t given any good reason to have them, so why exactly should they be added then? You sit here and call us selfish for not letting you have your horsey, yet you sit here and act like it is perfectly okay that you should have them and don’t care about those that don’t want them.
That is the exact reason of being selfish. You don’t care what anyone else thinks, you want it any ways. It’s like me saying I want pets for every class. I don’t care if no one else wants it, we should have it any ways cause I want it. You don’t care about what anyone else thinks, you only care about your own wants. It’s selfish.

Known bug. They are working to fix it.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
I never noticed that before, but that does suck. Unsure why they would put a level requirement on something that is an achievement for a temporary event, when they scale everyone up to level 80.
Only thing I’d suggest is if they have a high level character (obviously 75+), is to do that achievement on them, since achievements are account wide.
Otherwise, I hope it gets changed. Seems rather restrictive, especially since they level scale you to 80 for this whole event.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Yea because I’d be the only one able to get a mount if they were in the game. So selfish. LoL
The fact that you think they should add mounts because you want them, and anyone who doesn’t want them should just “deal with it”, makes you selfish.
You don’t care how it will affect other players or how it doesn’t fit into the game, you want it just to be flashy, regardless of what other players think.
So yes, you’re selfish.

I don’t see it clipping on your Sylvari at all in that picture. I only see it clipping on your sword, which is obviously going to happen when you stack two items together on your back.
But in general, clipping will happen. There is no way to have an item fit every single armor/race/weapon combination in the game. Something is bound to clip, and adjusting it for one thing, could ruin it for everything else. It is sadly, unavoidable.

Ever since they first introduced this whole RNG feature, it has been nothing but complaints about it.
Doesn’t matter to ANet as long as it’s profitable for them. You either pay with your coin or pay with your time. There was a thread elsewhere where people were posting how much they’ve spent so far (monetary). Some of the figures there were surprisingly high.
That is exactly the point of my entire post that you took that quote from.
They don’t care about their players anymore. They only care about what makes them money, regardless if we like it or not.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Who cares? At this rate I can rack up like 200 boxes a month. You have to be the most unlucky person in the world not to get a skin out of those boxes.
Sidenote: Only opened 3 from the 5 so far, and yes, no minies or tickets inside. But I really couldn’t care less, I’ll get them in time. It’s a good thing, that I get rewards for actually playing the contetnt. It’s also a good thing, that you get a chance (yes, a chance) to get these things without playing on SSC.
That’s the issue though. You’re assuming everyone shares the exact same experience as you do. It’s called RNG for a reason. Your experience isn’t everyone’s experience.
You want to know my experience? I opened 35 of these boxes. All I got was Karka Shells, Passion Flowers, and Passion Fruit. Not one single weapon skin or mini at all.
So you can go ahead and open your fifth box and get a weapon skin. Great for you. But again, it is all based on luck and RNG. I could open 500 boxes and not get a single weapon skin, while someone else could open one box and get a weapon skin.
It is all RNG still. No amount of statistical data or sharing your personal experience is going to make it any better.

Farmed about 5 hours so far. Gotten 5 boxes. 300% MF. Event lasts 28 days.
Stop whining.
Good for you. Now open those boxes and see what you get. Oh that’s right, you still have to deal with RNG no matter what. And the fact that you got 1 box an hour, is still RNG based as well. Some people have farmed for even longer and got nothing with even more magic find than you have.
You obviously have no idea what RNG means. Just cause you had some good luck, doesn’t mean everyone else has the same luck. RNG is RNG.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
The worst part of this whole thing? The fact that Anet isn’t listening or taking our concerns into consideration.
Ever since they first introduced this whole RNG feature, it has been nothing but complaints about it. Every time a new RNG box is released, tons of threads show up to complain about it. And this is every single time they do this. People even quit the game over this stuff and refuse to spend any money because of it.
And what happens? Nothing. They keep releasing more and more of them. It is solid proof that they don’t care about how the players feel about this. They only care about the money it is making them, not about how it is affecting their player base.
Just watch. When this Dragon Festival comes, expect to see a new RNG box added to the game with new weapon skins or something else fancy added to it. It just goes to show you that they don’t care about what the players want, they only care about their money.

Eh, I don’t mind Faren. He is one of my favorite npcs. Though I was a bit disappointed that he treated me like a complete stranger on my Mesmer.
Hopefully if he is included in future content, he’ll remember who his friends are.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Nice, now that you agree it is simply not a big deal, you should be able to understand why it is pretty selfish to refuse it instead of allowing people who want it to have it.
Don’t be a hypocrite.
The same can be said for those that want it. There is two sides to this.
-Why should you be allowed to have it, when others don’t want it?
-Why should we not be allowed to have it, when others do want it?
Either way is selfish to assume that you should or shouldn’t be allowed to have them, regardless of what others think.
It boils down to this.
The reasons why people don’t want them, is cause it wouldn’t fit in this game. The franchise has never had mounts and never will cause they just don’t fit. And as well, they would hog up the screen like no tomorrow like they are already doing in other games. Want to go to the Trading Post npc? You have to deal with tons of mounts piled up around them. Ever tried to talk to a quest npc in like WoW for instance, and everyone is sitting on their mounts around them, making it almost impossible for you to get to the npc? Yeah, we don’t need that here.
I get that people want vanity mounts or even speed mounts in GW2. Collectors and those that are used to other MMOs think this game needs them cause other games have them. It’s the same argument about capes.
But to assume someone is selfish cause they don’t want others to have them cause they don’t want them, is just hypocritical. Because those that do want them, are expecting everyone that doesn’t want them to just “deal with it” if they don’t like it. It comes around to the whole, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it scenario. Yeah, but they still have to deal with everyone that does like them, running around everywhere on them and blocking npcs and such with them. So you are still affecting their game, whether you want to believe it or not. But not having mounts, doesn’t ruin your game in any way at all. Cause the game never had them to begin with.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
There is already a mount in the game.

Whether we want it or not, they have already said they will be releasing full Ascended armor and weapons.
And seeing as how the current trend on Ascended gear is (adding a new currency for every new piece they release), we are going to have a lot of new currencies each time they add more Ascended gear.
Lady Bethany Of Noh – Chronomancer – Lords of Noh [LoN]
Eh, it is rather sketchy what is and isn’t an exploit when it comes to Anet.
Traditionally, an exploit is taking advantage of something that is not working as intended. Such as a bugged event that keeps spawning mobs and never ends (as you mentioned). If you are sitting there farming the bugged event for loot, then it is considered exploiting as you are taking advantage of a glitch/bug.
But as well, Anet has banned for things that were not bugs or glitches and that were working as intended. Take for instance the Snowflake “incident”. There was no bug or glitch. It was working exactly as it was intended to. It wasn’t a player fault that it only required one gem, it was Anet’s. Yet they banned a bunch of people for reason of exploiting, when they were exploiting nothing. It worked exactly as it should of. There was no bug or glitch they were taking advantage of.
Thus why most people are hesitant these days. If you find a good thing, you sit under the fear of whether it is an exploit or not in Anet’s eyes. Cause anything could be an exploit in these circumstances. So it’s a thin line really. There is no traditional definition in this game as to what an exploit is.
