I said this before, but making a pet trait tree just for our pets would be awesome, and BM would contain different traits so we could make our pets more viable by not traiting into BM that then would kitten builds.

Sigil of Earth is wasted on S/Wh because you will apply 2 stacks at max and fighting with sword doesn’t grant many hits on the enemy. It’s better if you go with geomancy for longer and more bleeds.

Keep in mind that you will have 60% Condition Duration so the procs from Sigil of Earth jump to 8 second bleeds. But if you want to use a different Sigil, try Sigil of Torment.

I get twitchy, tense ect and it just works against me. Then I just listen to all of the artists listed above.

Tyvm for both answers, after reading what you wrote it seems like my main issue is that I fail to adapt to the rythm of that fight.
I’m so used to fight squishy targets that I’m a bit lost when fighting an elem on a sustained fight , main reason is that I don’t know much about that class and that I have hard time finding the perfect timing to burst them without having them negating my bursts by that perma regen & mobilty.
Now I’ll try to apply your explanations in game and see how it works when the burst is set at the right time
Btw those elem that gives me trouble are the x/x/x/6/6 ones

I agree with everyone said above, But I feel you this is easier said than done, I admit, when they regen they always regen most of their hp, and there is only a slight pause in boon generation.

Uhmm, u tested the spvp version, I admit it is a lot of fun, But my pet dies really quickly in some cases, thats why i was asking you If a BM variant is possible with the same weapon sets, LB is so good with the stacking bleeds.

@Tealots: I’ve been on here and there, usually around 10pm-12am EST, but I have a habit of ghosting a lot. These past few weeks have been rough IRL so I’ve been lone-wolfing it and just playing anonymously to take my mind off things.
I think the problem is in the runes/sigils throwing in a Sigil of Fire or Air and switching to more power-based runes could be a big help. With your goal being ranged, Grenth runes are only going to be situationally useful. Also, you’re gonna wanna take the iElasticity over illusionary invig.
I was gonna try a ranged gs+staff 4/4/6 CI build, then tweak it to 0/4/6/0/4 and see how I feel. I still have a couple other builds I wanna try out first though.

so you play this spec. all i can do is hope i dont get queued with you on my team. You can play whatever you want and for the most part it has 0 to do with me.. unless i am forced to play with you. It is the bad version of a bunker.
Im not saying you are unkillable in a OP way.. im saying that it is a waste of time to even act as if you are on the battle field. The only way PU changes the outcome of a fight is if a person actualy bothers to stop and fight one. PU would just be wasting thier time to try to decap vs any bunker that has a point already. And if you are trying to be +1 to a fight that is already taking place you are doing alot less damage and control then other mesmers.
You play PU i get it.. You will say anything it takes to justify that the spec you are playing takes skill and you arent taking the easy way out. You dont want to feel as if you arent helping your team even though you chose less damage/team support then other specs/professions.
The question isnt if PU can eventually kill someoene in a 1v1 of = skill. The question is if your spec is optimal.. can other specs do your job better then you are.. If there are other specs doing the job you are trying to do in a more efficient way then you are choosing to force a square peg into a round hole… and comming to the forums to tell me how this peg is going to fit.
If its about fun.. and eventually killing someone.. go nuts.. WVW i can buy the fact that when 20 guys run your way there is a reason for a ton of stealth. but in spvp unless you are being troll .. i personally think that other professions / specs can fill the job you are trying to do better then a pu mesmer.

people.. even mesmers dislike pu because you can run 100 percent stealth uptime and casting phantasms/clones does not break stealth. so you are just stealthing over and over dodge rolling and casting phantasms.. it isnt even really pvp. Playing shatter over PU does not make you “More” skilled, or playing any build other than PU for that matter, save that elitist sense of pride for yourself.
Yes, a large stack of confusion like 10 and give them quickness? I’d take it, though most of the mesmer’s utility are… actual utility, no real offense besides the mantras. Maybe make this an elite mantra[a condi mantra]?
And with extra condi duration, the confusion can outlast the quickness duration, making it more powerful. I might use it.
Make it an elite mantra, brilliant!

One thing i dont understand is a lot of the PU hate is coming from fellow mesmers, isn’t it we should stick together as a class?

Is it just me or I feel that pets really lack uhmm.. content.
I feel like I just choose the pet for the f2 and you know the occasional knockdowns. Coming from WoW, I really miss the times that I can customize my pet via their own pet traits.
For example, There was a trait (forgot what its called) that allows your pet gain lifesteal on every attack, and that’s their own pet trait. Here in Gw2, I don’t wanna waste a trait slot for carnivorous appetite just to make my bird last a little bit longer. When I can slot something else to improve my damage or survivability.
I wish we could trait via pet traits reduced dmg for AoE attacks while not sacrificing our own gear itself. the Ai for now is good after they improved f2 responsiveness.
The beastmastery Traitline Should have a unique selection than what we have (i.e. Making regular attacks bleed or gain stability at f2 <—- I mean who uses this second one?) The choices should be more ranger and pet oriented at the same time benefiting both aspects then the Pet Trait should handle the pet improvements alone.
PS: Another QoL they should add is, when I jump of a ledge like in Spirit Watch, the pet should follow me down, not take the entire long way just to get down, i often start fights waiting my pet to take the detour.

It wouldn’t really make Mesmer OP. A good chunk of damage from Mesmer comes from the illusion tree itself (confusion and might on shatter, IC, extra bounce/shatter reset at 50%) so youd lose a good amount of damage if you didn’t go illusion. Mesmers also have been running shatter for 2 years now in competitive tpvp and wvw so why not just give it to them as a class mechanic anyway lol.
Dnt forget traiting 6 pts effectively reduces all shatter CDs

As Ive said above, wastrels will proc as long as the target is not using a skill, so he/she may be stunned or not casting anything. Stun or not. So what’s the order on that?
Same as halting strike, HS procs on interrupt, any interrupt as long as its a successful one, Will it proc wastrels? No, because the target must be doing something prior before he/she gets interrupted. You cannot interrupt another character when it is just standing still. So it means they are not INACTIVE. Now If you interrupt them and attack them next, then that attack gets the 5%.
Now if you interrupted them, HS will proc, but wastrel’s? Im not sure but when you interrupted them, they were using a skill so it means they were active when HS was cast. So i don’t think Wastrel’s will proc.

The signet traits have massive problems, but it’s not immediately evident.
Signet Mastery
This trait shares a spot with the following traits:
- Mental Torment: Required for shatter builds focusing on burst
- Halting Strike: Required for interrupt builds that like doing damage
- Empowered Illusions: Required for phantasm builds that like doing damage
- Crippling dissipation: Required for clone-death builds that like some modicum of control
There’s almost no situation where you’re able to give up one of those traits for signet mastery.
Blurred Inscriptions
This trait shares a spot with the following traits:
- Deceptive Evasion

- Bountiful Interruption: A very important trait for interrupt builds to maintain damage
- Chaotic Dampening: Very important trait for builds that take staff, reducing cooldowns of a lot of very strong skills
Overall, this trait is the one most accessible…and it’s pretty inaccessible.
All 3 of these traits share spots with other very powerful and/or needed traits. This means that in order to have a spot for the signet trait, you’re forced to burn more traits into that line and forego either a master trait, or in 2/3 cases a grandmaster trait. There’s not a whole lot wrong with the traits themselves, other than them being potentially on the weak side, but the main issue is that they’re simply in spots that make it impossible to take them.
I do think that signets need rework on their passives and actives, But I do not agree that choosing traits for signets are more lets say unimportant than other traits. There is a lot of situation where I am able other traits for their spot. My condi interrupt signet build chooses signet mastery, blurred inscriptions over those traits.
My only complain would be another class gets might on signet use on signet mastery trait, we should too.
Since not so many people answered this, I will try to answer with the best of my knowledge. And also since this is a new sigil in pvp, I might as well join the discussion.
1.) Does halting strike proc Before the stun or after the stun.
This is of course assuming you used Signet of Domination or Magic Bullet or Traited when Confounding Suggestions when the interrupt occurred. Halting strike always procs on an interrupt so daze, fear, stun, etc will proc it at the same time the the latter are applied. (whenever you see the word interrupt on the screen, Halting strike is procced)
2.) Wastrel’s Punishment
Deals 5% damage to inactive foes
Inactive = not using a skill
So this only procs when the target is stunned, daze, feared etc. The target must not be able to skills 1st and the skill/s you use when they are not using a skill gets the 5% modifier. Or The target can literally just stand and move, wastrel’s will still proc.
3.) Daze and Stun on sigils
I do not remember the thread by skcamow but i think sigil of paralyzation do increase the daze duration even if it the tooltip says Increases stun duration
4.) The order
Halting strike procs on interrupt, so the state of your foe does not matter as long you interrupt something it will proc.
Wastrels and sigil off impact needs the target to be stunned, wastrels can proc as long as they are not using a skill, they do not need to be stunned or cc, just as long as they stand there or move.

But the thing is, even without cleanses you’ll still do good. You’re a mesmer after all.
UPDATE
Since my perceived mega-nerf to clone death traits, I thought for sure my original build would be unusable and not as fun.
To combat the changes, I focused a little bit less on clone deaths and more so on bleeds, swapping Nightmare Runes for Krait, and taking out Crippling Dissipation for Mender’s Purity.
The changes have revitalized the build by adding tons of condition removal and sustain with the added health boost from the signet. The chain stuns in between iDuelist(s) & Confusing Images with S. Domination and Pistol5 is a fantastic burst!!! I implore you guys to try it out. I’ve been dominating solo q, hot join and even yolo-ing team q.

Wow thank you Fay! so feedback isnt just for reflecting kitten normally. So for example, if an enemy triggers confusion through feedback when using a physical projectile finisher, does that confusion scale with my condi dmg or the shooters?
Yes, reflecting missiles with feedback will trigger the ethereal combo field if applicable.
So does the location matter? Inside or outside as long as it is reflecting?
Yes sticker, it combos. Feedback works as a barrier. If the enemy outside of it and shooting through it to the other side, it will combo. If the enemy is inside of it, all of their projectiles will reflect.
Fay, it’s a problem, because it makes feedback only reliable in a melee range. If it was ground targeted, you’d have a lot more flexibility in how to aid your team/self.
No one simply stands in a feedback bubble and fires away unless they’re a noob. At most you only get a few shots before they move out of it to continue firing. Then your only option is to run inside of the bubble yourself for further protection. I’m running a glamour build now (post coming soon), so I’ve been working closely with how Null Field and Feedback work.
Feedback is only reliable under 2 conditions:
1. If you have a way of keeping them inside (stun, immob)
2. You’re inside of the bubble.Obviously with the way it works now, it’s hard to do #2 unless you’re in melee range like I’ve said before.
Wait what? if they’re inside i dont think it triggers a combo field for foes. because i think you cant use opposing player’s fields with your finisher. The reason i asked about my situation is it is peculiar. And yes I’m 100% sure that everyone shooting outside the dome will get reflected. Not so sure about finishers. lets duel again and test.
Only Friendly Forces outside shooting through the dome will get finishers, but for opposing players who shoot and get reflected?

nah,, i was the only one with a combo field on.
i have a question, does feedback trigger a combo finisher for foes? I mean If they are shooting form the outside of the dome? I was pvping earlier and casted a Feedback on a warrior, then i closed down on him (so me and him were inside the dome) then his ranger teammate who was outside starting shooting RF, i saw a lot of Confusion Combo thingies(not the purple damage balloon, the grey balloon thingies with the confusion word on it) when it got reflected back. Is this a bug?

It’s not possible to stack 15 bleed while doing that burst. If the only thing you’re doing is proccing DD explosions and summoning duelists…then yes. Note that the specific statement was “I spike 15 stacks of xxx”, implying bursting that.
Ah i see. my bad, i didnt get the ops response because it said I spike 15 stacks of bleeding torment and confusion. So I wasnt sure if he was pertaining of 15 stacks each or not haha.

I play some self made signet + invuln + reflection build with staff and condi dmg. It works greatly against hambows, some thieves and engis and especially ranger. Rapid fire is suicide <3

Let’s see. Something positive to offset Pyro’s negativity….
We got new traits (which they promptly “fixed” one of them).
They removed Raid on the Capricorn map from pvp (which I think was a bad call, but I guess the majority didn’t like learning how to play underwater).
They removed the pvp locker and added a wardrobe, for those aesthetically inclined.
I still play my mesmer, same as always. I adapt to however they fix/break/cripple the class and play around that. It would be nice if they would actually take time to consider what the kitten they are going to do before they do it, but that requires more thought process than I guess some people like to use. I encounter this in my own work place. That aside…
Other classes got buffed. Ranger got buffed (see all the threads of QQ about that here on the mesmer forum too). Longbow #2 [Rapid Fire] is ridiculously fast now. So you can expect to see a bunch of underskilled power rangers spamming their #2 as often as it is not on cooldown. (Hence the biggest outcry for original Mimic from the mesmer community.)

As skcamow have said, CS is better than this. Tried it, yes it does add the cd, but your opponent is not lockdowned in a sense because, he/she can still move. I would rather trait CI or CS over them.
If it was changed to like Rangers moment of clarity.
Increase Daze Duration by 100%, The immediate daze used are now spread to 5 targets 10 sec ICD.

This is somewhat true now. But only for might. When you get might, it affects your pow and condi dmg stat, therefore affecting your phantasms and clones stat wise.

Mesmers is more about positioning then button smashing and working against a mechanic. All mesmers do is spawn illusions around enemy, wait for the right moment, CC and shatter. Rinse and repeat.
In wvw, mesmers just spam stealth and summon phantasms to win, correction, now they also spam scepter AA.
The typical perception of a mesmer. But! lockdown mesmer is all about timing, I would say an interrupt build would increase offense, get boons, root someone down, only if you interrupt something.
My question was a serious one haha. I think it does not affect f4? Im not so sure, because i pay attention to the duration when I use distortion.
A quick question, rather off topic sorry, what does illusionary retribution do on f4?
