Character Naming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

StinVec.3621

I really loved how GW1 forced you to have a two part name. It was as if every person had a first and last name and helped a little to reinforce a unique identity with each toon.

One word names, especially stupid ones you pointed out, feels wrong, like a verb or adjective slapped over someone’s head

I don’t care for forced last names. NPCs tend to always refer to you by both names, which doesn’t happen with people you’re familiar with IRL. Even strangers don’t do it past a greeting.

That reminds so much of the movie Demolition Man where people were always addressed by their full names. It frequently came to mind during GW1.

Picked the wrong legacy armor - options?

@Kapps

I submitted a ticket under account issues (Legacy Armor). Although it may be unlikey to get the desired weight, it doesn’t hurt to try. Try adding your experience there as well and perhaps we can get an offical response on the matter.

Indeed, it doesn’t hurt to try. I wish a positive outcome to the tickets for you both.

Metabolic primer not working properly

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This issue has been reported since they started offering the item back on December 10, 2013.
Only the initial food consumed after activating the primer gets the extended duration, which is not the wording used on the primer.

“Any food eaten while the primer is active will have the same remaining time as the primer, rounded up to the next hour.”

Nowhere does it state only the initial food consumed after activating it will receive the extended duration. It even states any food eaten while it is active”.

In my case it also did not round up that first consumed food to the next hour but to the identical time remaining on the primer. So that was another issue with it.

Even if you consume the exact same food as the one that has the primer duration, the new food has its standard timer on it.

I had 6 hours left on my food on a character that I activated the primer on. I had been playing other non-primer characters for a while and was in the habit of activating my food when I log into them. Because of this habit I naturally activated my food when I logged into my character that had the primer food on it. 30 minutes later I noticed I did not have food active, but the primer was still active. I activated the same food and it displayed 30min on it…but over 6 hours of primer left.

I then tried to consume a different food as maybe there was a bug with the primer if you consumed an identical food as the one with the primer duration. Nope. That had 30min as well. Consumed my normal food once again, still 30min on it and still over 6 hours of primer.

I really liked the metabolic primer, but with this having been reported as an issue since it came out and it still going unacceptably unfixed, I will never purchase another one. They’ve permanently lost all future purchases for this item by me due to their not fixing it after 6 months of it being reported. I recommend all others to do the same.

Picked the wrong legacy armor - options?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I believe it to be your one and only chance at selecting and acquiring the free legacy armor.

Also, you did not miss anything. It does not state that each armor is for a different weight and this has been pointed out to them as having caused this same issue many, many times.

Unfortunately, support is unlikely to offer the skin for the desired armor weight class were you to file a ticket requesting it.

The only thing you can really do is purchase the desired legacy armor you actually want for 500 gems and save that light armor to apply for free later on if you happen to create a light armor character down the road (or apply via charges after those are used since they are unlocked in your wardrobe you can then use that skin on any character that can wear that weight).

How to get Ascended Gear?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I have no interest in crafting in GW2 (love crafting in all other games, but GW2 crafting is…not to my liking) or ascended armor and weapons, and only have very minimal interest in a few specific things that require the mystic forge.

I’ve only opted to purchase an ascended amulet and two rings from the Laurel Vendor in major cities by spending laurels (from doing dailies/monthlies/achievement milestones). You can get the ascended accessories (earrings?) there as well, but it requires some globs of ectoplasm in addition to laurels so I have no interest in those and got standard exotic accessories from the TP.

Also, back when the achievement chests granted a PvP chest, I had gotten some Badges of Honor. You can get the ascended amulet and rings for fewer laurels at the WvW Laurel Vendor by also spending some badges if you happen to WvW. I do not, so I only opted for the cheaper amulet and rings from there due to having free badges from the old achievement chests.

It has been requested for culling priority to be on players first and then on enemies only after players are culled. Or to even have separate culling settings for players and enemies.

Griefers...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

These are the only in-game options for reporting. Others would need to be filed through support ticket with screenshots of character names, ‘account.1234’ names, chat logs, etc. Even then it would be quite difficult to verify it was griefing versus simply playing the game in a way that was different from others, despite consensus on how it should be or was intended to be played. Honestly, I do not think much can be done unless an anet employee was in the instance and witnessed it firsthand and deemed it as griefing.

[Suggestion] Pet Slot in Equipment Paperdoll

I also fully support this suggestion. Though I must ask – what do you mean when you mention paper dolls and how do they relate to minipets? I seem to be very easily confused today.

edit
I think I’ve figured it out. You mean the character equipment tab in the Hero Panel. So paper doll is our character display/Hero Panel. Man, I’m not have an easy time with intuitive leaps and things making sense today.

Not click 100x to consume luck/karma/scrolls?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

You can also temporarily re-bind your mouse scroll wheel as being “Mouse 1” and then just scroll your mouse wheel to consume them all in seconds.

Hmmm hang on. Where in the options can you re-bind mouse scroll wheel to Mouse 1? I dun see any variable that allows that in Control Options.
Does this work on karma and scroll of knowledges?

The person suggesting this assumed you had a mouse with drivers that allow reassignment (like Logitech, MS, and all the gaming mouse manufacturers like Roccat, Razer, etc.).

If your manufacturer didn’t supply this functionality:

On Windows, cnet has a link to a free app called “X-Mouse Button Control” that does it for generic mice. If on Mac, you can use a free app called USB Overdrive. If on Linux, /etc/keymap is there.

I assumed no such thing. I offered an alternate method to achieve what they desired (easier way of consuming stacks). How they went about achieving that method (if they desired to) I left up to them to either inquire further or to consult google for steps to go about accomplishing it.

It isn’t an available option in-game. You would need to do it locally through Windows or another program for custom keymapping. If you have a Razer or Logitech gaming mouse then it should be easy to accomplish in those programs also.

Most people use http://www.autohotkey.com and run a script that binds the mouse wheel to left click.

This generic script (attached), when running, makes clicking your mouse scroll wheel in activate the scroll down as being left click only when GW2 is the active window. I didn’t add a disable key into it, so just close the program from your taskbar when you are done using it to return normal scroll wheel functionality.

So:

  • Install AHK
  • Save the attached .txt file
  • Rename the file extension to be .ahk instead of .txt
  • Run the script when you want ‘mouse wheel down’ to function as left click inside GW2
  • Close the script when you are done using it

Since one click on your scroll wheel is one click of the left mouse button, there is no issue of breaking the rules set forth by ArenaNet as one key is still performing a single action, you are just changing which key is causing that action from the left mouse button to the scroll down button.

BL Merchant on top of chest spawn location

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This doesn’t solve the problem, but in the event you encounter this again, you can tab between friendly elements to select the chest and open it that way instead of talking to the NPC on top of it that seems to get priority for interaction. If you do not have any keys bound to tab between friendly elements, you can set keys for this action in your control options area.

Again, I know it does not solve the problem of NPCs getting priority over other interactive elements, but it will help you to be able to loot the chest in the event you encounter this form of possible griefing in the future.

You can also use the tab between friendly elements keys to target individual guild banners in the event that there are several placed directly on top of eachother instead of spaced out.

Do I need to hit “next ally?” How does this work if the chest isn’t an “ally?”

Correct. “Next Ally” and “Previous Ally” cycle through targeting non-enemy elements that are currently on your screen. It seems to regard anything that cannot be attacked as being an “ally”, so interactive objects are included as being allies that can be cycled to as your target.

So the chest is going to come out green I take it? Doesn’t seem to select units with names in yellow text.

I’ll give it a shot later tonight when I get home and report back with results. What I’ll probably do is try this on a chest for a world boss that spawns and dies with plenty of time left before the pre for the next one starts. Might have to wait a couple of minutes for the hordes of players to thin out and give it a shot.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it does not count other players as being “allies”…
Yeah, figure that one out. You cannot tab target through other players. You will not need to tab through dozens and dozens of players to get to the chest. You can even tilt your camera down so the chest is easier to tab to without some NPCs in the background slowing selection down.

edit
Well, I tried on a zone boss (SB) tonight to make sure it worked…it does not. Boss chests cannot be targeted like other “friendly” elements like guild banners and such. I’m sorry for giving a bit of false hope on a way to get around the griefers dropping NPCs on boss chests.

Can't wait to not play Season 2

in Living World

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Heya, Danikat. I’m really looking forward to playing LS:S2. It will be nice to be able to experience it when I choose to (if I choose to hold off for whatever reason) instead of being forced to take part or miss out forever.

Regarding the edited thread title: “Can’t wait to not play Season 2”
Your edit now makes it sound like you are not looking forward to it. That you are anxious to not play it, as in being dismissive of it entirely.

Would you maybe consider a more simplistic and direct: “Cannot wait to play Season 2”? Or like the movie of the same title: “Can’t Hardly Wait…for Season 2”

edit
Seems the point made in the OP was lost on me and that the intent of the title and OP of not being able to wait to not play it is exactly the point; the choice of not playing it or playing it if/when they want to.

Last patch note - what's wrong? what's right?

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Considering it is actually PDT (daylight savings is active) and not PST (standard time), 11am PDT would be 6pm UTC (UTC minus 7 hours).
4pm PDT would be 11pm UTC.

It should read:
Karka Queen – 11:00 (PDT) / 18:00 (UTC)
Karka Queen – 16:00 (PDT) / 23:00 (UTC)

Or it should if they used the correct PDT times. Seeing as they stated PST and not PDT, it is possible that they have not accounted for the time change in their own state. If that is the case, then I suppose it could be 11:00 (PST), but 12:00 noon (PDT) / 19:00 (UTC). That would mean they intentionally stated PST, despite being completely misleading as there is no such time zone as PST right now so all players must add an hour to that time. However, the second time slot is displayed in PDT time (UTC-7), but states PST as the time.

I think they need to double check their times and modify that post to properly state PDT and accurate times.

In fact, the other times just after those for Teq and Wurm are wrong as well.
There are 3 entries that have an extra hour added to the UTC time:
08:00 PST / 15:00 UTC – Karka Queen
09:00 PST / 16:00 UTC – Tequatl
10:00 PST / 17:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
11:00 PST / 19:00 UTC – Karka Queen
12:00 PST / 20:00 UTC – Tequatl
13:00 PST / 21:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
16:00 PST / 23:00 UTC – Karka Queen
17:00 PST / 24:00 UTC – Tequatl

Should be:
08:00 PDT / 15:00 UTC – Karka Queen
09:00 PDT / 16:00 UTC – Tequatl
10:00 PDT / 17:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
11:00 PDT / 18:00 UTC – Karka Queen
12:00 PDT / 19:00 UTC – Tequatl
13:00 PDT / 20:00 UTC – Great Jungle Wurm
16:00 PDT / 23:00 UTC – Karka Queen
17:00 PDT / 24:00 UTC – Tequatl

Again, unless the UTC times are correct and the PST/PDT times are incorrect. Or that some of the times are in PST and state PST, and others are in PDT but still state PST.

Either way, someone there needs to decide what is correct and fix it.

Riding Broom - Empties dodge meter

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Upon mounting the Riding Broom your dodge meter drains to zero and does not recharge. Dismounting the broom leaves you with a completely empty dodge meter which then begins to recharge.

This discourages riding the broom between combat areas as you are left without the ability to dodge upon dismounting and entering combat.

Please correct this functionality so the dodge meter is not emptied upon mounting the Riding Broom so we are not at a disadvantage in combat upon dismounting.

An updated appearance I recently did for one of my older rangers.

Due to the extremely over-sized armor elements on male sylvari, I opted to remake him as female instead.

Armors:

  • Helm: Devil Horns
  • Shoulders: Magitech Medium Shoulderpads
  • Chest: Strider’s Tunic
  • Gloves: Viper’s Armguards
  • Leggings: Magitech Leggings
  • Boots: Zodiac Medium Boots
  • Outfit: Ancestral Outfit

Dyes:

  • Algae
  • Enameled Jungle
  • Midnight Ice

Weapons:

  • Tormented Axe
  • Tormented Sword

Edit
Decided to craft the ascended green colored blade back piece so I’ve added a pic of the updated appearance.

Post a pic of your character only if your armor is mix-n-match

StinVec.3621

An updated appearance I recently did for one of my older rangers.

-snip-

Must. Have. That. Algae. Dye.

x . x

Exquisite!

Edit: How did you make you spinning gif image?

Edit 2: I would suggest the Majory’s Weapon skins and, maybe, Crystalline Blade. The latter may lack the impact factor, imo. Best fit would be the sword from Tequatl’s Hoard.

Thanks! I love algae dye. I tried forever to catch it down around 30g with 21 available. Then someone bought all of them but 5 and re-listed them all at like 180g+ so buy orders jumped quickly to over 100g. Then the dye reimbursement date hit and my 60g BO got filled quickly from all the dyes being acquired and sold. If you need some gold to pick it up I’ll ‘halfies’ it with you so you can get it!

Oh nice idea! I haven’t really done Tequatl, but that sword does look pretty decent.

I actually was running through Rata today and stopped in my tracks when I saw this guy standing there (pic). I sat on my broom beside him for a few seconds and then he literally walked over to the bank and came back. Then poof: we were both on our brooms with our toxic minis standing guard. Same dyes and all. It was awesome.

Gifs:
I use a program called InstaGiffer.

  • I set GW2 to windowed mode and alter the capture window to what I want to capture.
  • I set it to capture 8 seconds and hit capture and then after the 3 second countdown I rotate my character around one time in the Hero panel.
  • I then remove frames in the program so it is as seamless as possible. (about 80 frames is what I end up having. I don’t add any effects or enhancements or anything that it offers. Then save it.

I then use a program called GifOptimizer to optimize the gif so it is a much smaller file size without losing quality.

  • I edit the optimization so it uses the full 256 color range and sometimes uncheck the Disable Interlacing option. Usually gets the gif down to 1-2mb at most.

Attaching gifs:
The forums didn’t always have a problem with adding a gif to a post. However, it recently started giving an error page after sitting there waiting for it to upload for a long time.

The best way I’ve found is to make your comment and post it. Then edit your comment and go to add the gif the same as any other image. Make sure to add an extra return or a space or something so your post so it will actually be changed and update. Added pics don’t usually display if no edit was actually made to the text. If/when you get the error page just let it stay up. It seems like it stopped attempting to upload it, but it is still uploading it to the post despite giving the error page. Continue waiting while it continues to upload the gif.

Ideally, have a duplicate tab/page of the full thread you were making your comment in so you can refresh that one to tell when your post actually gets made so you can then close the error page.

If you attach a gif and get the error page, then hit ‘back’ and try to attach it again you will end up with two of the same gif attached when it eventually finishes attaching and updating your post…or you may end up with duplicate posts, each with the gif attached to them when it finishes uploading both queued posts with their uploads.

Hope that helped. I can help more if you want/need it. Just wanted to give as much info as possible.

@StinVec Have you cleared the GW2 temp files? I had a similar problem a while back and that fixed it.

I’m sure you have, as you are a smart cookie, but it never hurts to ask. Sometimes I will forget the easiest/most obvious solution when I am solving my own problems. Then I will promptly (facepalm)

:D Thank you, that is kind of you to say! Aww….now I really want some cookies.

I cannot stand working at something for hours only to find out it was something insanely easy. Yes, facepalm normally follows shortly thereafter.

Unfortunately, this is not one of those times. I have tried clearing the temp files already and other potential issues regarding that directory.
:\

Thank you for the suggestion though! It doesn’t hurt to ask.

I was working out different potential causes for the issue when I discovered others were encountering the same issue as well. This led me to believe that it was not likely to be something I could correct on my end and was tied directly to functionality on their end. I couldn’t find any correlation between different elements that could reproduce the issue when desired. Once in a long while it will work fine enough to get 6 or 7 items sold quickly, but then it gets wonky. I’ve tried comparing high populated areas and unpopulated areas, high graphics settings with low graphics settings, latency and checking traceroutes, other potential conflicting programs or something.

I also hate having an issue I cannot fix and this is really bugging me, to put it mildly. :P Will still work at it to see if I can figure it out, if it is something that can be figured out and fixed on the user’s end.

It was not that there will be lots of water, it was that players should bring lots of water – implying that it will be dry where we will be going.

Also, I love underwater combat. I know I am not in the majority there, but I would gladly welcome more underwater areas, and especially hopeful that we will one day see an underwater main city for a new playable species.

Wasn’t it recently confirmed by a dev to be a bug? In a video or something?

Yes. There was a screencap of an in-game map discussion with a dev where she stated that the ‘error attempting to sell’ bug was, indeed, a bug, and that it should be fixed soon.

“Soon” hahahaha I know what that is dev speak for. :P

I do hope they fix it, as I like to play the market and the throttle hinders my game enjoyment. I usually get frustrated and quit playing for a day or so.

:D Indeed.

I must say, I’ve not encountered the ‘error attempting to sell’ message for over a month. Unfortunately this is because I (any many others also) have to close the TP interface after every sale due to the TP being really horrible and refusing to load the sell page for the next item I click to sell. Having to close and reopen the TP for every item (if it even decides to load after reopening it) takes quite a long time to sell things off so I can’t possibly sell my items fast enough anymore to get the ‘error attempting to sell’ message.

Post a pic of your character only if your armor is mix-n-match

StinVec.3621

An updated appearance I recently did for one of my older rangers.

Due to the extremely over-sized armor elements on male sylvari, I opted to remake him as female instead.

Armors:

  • Helm: Devil Horns
  • Shoulders: Magitech Medium Shoulderpads
  • Chest: Strider’s Tunic
  • Gloves: Viper’s Armguards
  • Leggings: Magitech Leggings
  • Boots: Zodiac Medium Boots
  • Outfit: Ancestral Outfit

Dyes:

  • Algae
  • Enameled Jungle
  • Midnight Ice

Weapons:

  • Tormented Axe
  • Tormented Sword
No really good green weapons and cannot dye them
Tormented as green would look amazing

Endless transmutation charge, and endless gathering tools without any special animation.

Very much both of these. The main reason for my not purchasing any of the infinite tools is due to their having undesirable animations. I do not think an infinite tool with the standard skin is an absurd thing to desire.

Superior Rune of the Ranger

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Interesting.
I concur. It does seem that having a minipet active does trigger the 6th bonus of the rune set for +7% damage.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Ranger

It is also a potentially exploitable bug so you may want to instead email this to exploits@arena.net and include all information you mentioned in the video. Minis as they are currently implemented are not supposed to grant any bonuses to combat.

As a side note, that is a strange 6th bonus considering companions do not even exist in the game…unless ranger pets are what they consider companions. Wiki may need to be updated to reflect this fact of ranger pets being companions as the current definition of companion references a conceptual npc that does not exist in the game.

[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’d like to be able to buy tormented weapons from the Gem Store. They’re something I would definitely buy, but I refuse to farm 250 keys to get one of them. I was really excited when tormented weapons came out because I love them from GW1, but once I saw how long it was going to take just to get 10 scraps (longer than the time it would take for the price to go up), I gave up on it.

I’d also like, now that we have town clothes outfits to wear in combat, more GW1 mesmer style sets.

I’d also really like Raven Shaman and Countess Anise sets and that set advertised on the Mesmer profession page (basically, the sets advertised on that page, I’d like to be able to wear)!

This latest town clothes set was really close to what I’d like, but I think I’ll hold out until maybe something better shows up.

Also, female charr didn’t get dragons on their tails. So yeah, I’ll just wait until there’s something I like.

So far, I haven’t liked a town clothes or armor set enough to buy it (and I really want a town clothes set because it’s bugging me that I don’t have any now!). Phoenix and trickster came close (Phoenix is too elementalist-y for me and trickster is too… feathery) for armor.

Regarding town clothes, chef is nice because it changes depending on race, but it just doesn’t stand out there for me; Ancestral is very close, but not quite there for me (no female charr dragon tail and I’m not 100% sold stylistically); Pirate is fun, but clothing wise, somewhat boring to me.

And, in the end, I’d really really like something GW1 Mesmery beyond Heritage armor (I can’t keep putting that on all my casters! It and Nightmare are the best sets for Mesmers, which is why I have a Sylvari Mesmer).

Heya, Lorelei. Just to note, you can buy the Tormented weapon skins from the Trading Post if you would like to forgo the ticket acquisition side of them. They are between 63g and 180g depending on which skin you desire.

So if you took 180g and bought gems with them, that would make the most expensive skin cost about 1560 gems and the cheapest about 547 gems if they could be bought in the Gem Store. Or can buy gems to convert to gold to buy from the TP for a bit more.

But most of the skins are hovering between 70g and 115g, so most are roughly 600-1000 gems worth of gold in cost (in gold > gem conversion), which doesn’t seem all that bad.

Why no capes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

This topic always brings these images to my mind.
Using charr as an excuse is just that, an excuse, not sound reasoning to justify their non-implementation.

Charr should not have capes then, in the traditional sense.
It is not one size fits all (or one style for all). Give the other species capes or variations of capes (like the pics) and give charr something that functions appropriately for their body type and animations.

Nowhere is it said that all things must be identical across all species in the game. There are plenty of examples where things are intentionally different across the various species. Capes (or whatnot) should be no different.

Did you read my post at all? There IS sound reasoning. Have you ever messed around with a 3d design program? A cloth modifier? Unless they were to add in extra wind based physics system into the movement of the cloth (which would take more data and processing power than what is already use, Gravity physics system if you are not sure what I mean.) or make the majority of the mesh static, (which looks horrible btw, See DAoC if you don’t believe me.) the cloth WILL fall to the side of the character if they are hunched over. Its the way the physics works. (Gravity physics in this case)

Another “great” example of the screw ups inherent in cloth like apparel and the horrendous clipping issues they create on hunched characters would be Champion’s Online. Go play around with those capes for awhile and see what happens.

If you were to give all the other races capes but not the charr how many charr players will come here and complain about it? Pretty much every one of them. As far as intentionally different, its only different in the mesh design. The styles are the same.

Ok. My post was not directed at you. However, I did read your post (and all of the others). I like reading your posts. I would ask if you read all of mine as well as you seemed to have missed where I addressed the points you brought up in your response.

You gave reasons for why traditional capes would not work on charr. I agree with that reasoning. But that does not supply reasoning to the real issue. Many seem to be hung up on thinking that charr need to have the exact same type of cape that all non-charr receive.

I stated that charr should receive something different that does work with their species’ characteristics in the game. You have not progressed the concept further. Styles would not be the same (as stated). There will then be no complaining from charr players of being the only species to not get capes as they would have their capes, though they would be different from the capes on other species much like other game elements are different between species.

Once again, there is no sound reasoning for not implementing capes in any fashion from all species in the game simply because the same style that functions properly on others would not function properly on them.

You seem to be wanting to pick a fight by the level of aggression in your post and I am not seeing any reason as for why.

And since you had asked:
“Have you ever messed around with a 3d design program?” – Yes.
“A cloth modifier?” – Yes.

I will not be returning to the thread, by the way, as this topic has been discussed many times. Just a heads up so you know not to spend time composing a response that will not be read.

An updated appearance for my most recent ranger.

Armors:

  • Helm: Glowing Crimson mask
  • Shoulders: Aetherblade Medium Shoulderpads
  • Chest: Viper’s Jerkin
  • Gloves: Aetherblade Medium Armguards
  • Leggings: Strider’s Leggings
  • Boots: Illustrious Striders
  • Outfit: Ancestral Outfit
  • Back Item: Lightning Catcher

Dyes:

  • Grapevine
  • Celestial
  • Midnight Ice
  • Midnight Purple

Weapons:

  • Tormented Axe
  • Tormented Sword
  • Tormented Longbow

Beautifully executed! My thief outfit is also arranged around the Tormented weapon set. These weapons are so unique and beautiful.
Armors:

  • Helm: Twilight Arbor/Nightmare
  • Shoulders: Arah/Orrian
  • Chest: Strider
  • Gloves: Caudecus Manor/Council
  • Leggings: Vigil
  • Boots: Zodiac

Dyes:

  • Nightshade
  • Abyss
  • Fluff
  • Pastel Rose
  • Heliotrope
  • Pitch

Weapons:

  • Tormented Dagger
  • Tormented Shortbow

I’m on the fence for the Tormented Sword.

Thank you! Very, very nice work on yours as well! I didn’t realize some of those armor pieces you use could look that good.

I absolutely love the tormented skins. Think I finally gave in and picked up the sword and axe for about 60-70 gold each on the TP after using the longbow for so long. My rangers were always primarily shortbow based, but I am not a fan of the Tormented shortbow design and finally swapped to the sword/axe combo just to justify the skins. Now I love the sword/axe on my ranger.

I still wish we could change the color of the purple element. I have characters based around orange, green and yellow that I would love to have the tormented skins on in their respective colors.

I so badly want to get the CM gloves and helm skins, but I can never find a dungeon group that will take it slow, stick together and kill everything. Everyone is all about rushing and skipping. Maybe another year or two (and another 4k hours) and I will finally get enough currency for one of those two items. :\

[Sug] Mini Carrier-Minis in Hero Panel (pics)

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Finally looking to bring my old suggestions out of the locked suggestion forum so as to open them up once again for any constructive feedback to consider adding to/changing in the suggestion.

Concept: Miniature Carrier and Miniature Collection Hero Panel Slots
[original suggestion]

Miniature Collection Slot

  • Instead of minipets taking up an inventory spot, a new mini pet slot is created.
  • This minipet slot will have an ‘expand’ button similar to the pet selection button in the Pet Management screen of Rangers. This will allow players to select which mini pet is currently equipped among all those stored in the Miniatures Collections storage tab.
  • Double left-clicking the image of the minipet will spawn it into the world/release it from the Miniature Carrier.

Miniature Carrier Slot

  • Minipets will be kept in a bamboo carrier on our backs when they are not released to run freely beside (behind) us
  • This carrier can also have different skins: Metal, Glowing Magical Barrier, Leaf Covered Vines, other ideas of varying color and variety
  • The Miniature Carrier is displayed on the player character when a miniature is selected from the Miniature Management screen

Functionality of the Miniature Carrier with Back Items Display Checkboxes
Checked – Miniature Carrier
Checked – Back Item

  • Miniature Carrier will take priority over the back item of a character if the carrier contains a pet
  • Carrier is hidden and Back Item displays when the minipet is “released”

Checked – Miniature Carrier
Un-Checked – Back Item

  • Miniature Carrier displays at all times. Back Item does not display.
  • Empty carrier remains on the back if the minipet is released to run freely beside (behind) us

Un-Checked – Miniature Carrier
Checked – Back Item

  • Miniature Carrier never displays even if a minipet is selected from the Collections Screen and the minipet is currently stowed in the Carrier

Of course having neither checked would cause neither to ever display.

Alterations to the suggestion based on constructive feedback:

  • None just yet

more inventory bag slots!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

What the OP (or any other player) uses their inventory slots for is none of anyone else’s concern. No need to attack and berate them simply because you do not share their desire for more inventory expansions. If you don’t want more or have no desire for more to be made available for you, that’s your concern. They are making a request/suggestion and supplying their reasoning for this desire for ANet’s sake, not to justify their request to other players.

As for the OP’s request:
I’ve never purchased a single inventory expansion for any of my many characters. However, were I to feel the need to, I would like to know that I would be able to expand them up to and beyond the amount that fills my needs, however many that may be.

I also fully agree with the constructive feedback others left earlier in the thread about dedicated storage slots in the Hero Panel for such items as toys and consumables (minipets too), as well as fully supporting the request for alternate armor and/or weapon storage for easier fast-swapping to a different set (for appearance, stat set or sigil/rune set reasons).

How bad is the Power Armor Elite skill?

in Asura

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I’ve only ever found a use for it out of combat to look cool as I make my way around. Definitely looks better than always using foot power (or a broom) while running around.

I have used it in combat with several professions. It was very much a detriment to my mobility, damage output and even survivability as it would usually break quickly when AoE is popped on it…leaving you stuck in AoE for a second while it ejects you and blows up. Were I not in the unit I could have dodged the AoE before it ticked any damage. The unit prevents you from doing so for a moment after its death.

Stick with profession elites for active combat engagements and leave it as a not-so-mini minipet that you can ride inside of as you run around out of combat.

I suppose the only way to do it out-of-game would be to visit a site like Argos-soft and then save the images of the full armor sets for the desired species/gender/armor weight and then manually copy-paste sections of armors around in Paint or something to find a desirable mix and match look.

I do not know of any website with the individual items that you can toggle previews of with other pieces of armor.

That functionality is in-game though.
Go to your bank and select the Wardrobe Vault tab and then mix and match to your heart’s content in search of your desired look. Only thing is that you can only preview on the species of the currently logged in character. If you do not have a charr, but want to mix and match armor on a charr to see how they look, you will need to roll a charr and then progress to a city to view your wardrobe with that species character.
