They’re now all likely to be soulbound now upon selecting stats or even after upgrading to the next tier as with today’s patch they made all of the account bound spinal blades that were equipped or had upgrade components applied to them soulbound…I’m pretty peeved that they made this change without mentioning it.

Non-stat selected spinal blades are now:

• Account Bound
• Soulbound on Use
  Instead of just Account Bound.

Use the Remove Dye tool on all of the dye slots and save the changes. Go back in and re-dye to your liking and your changes should save correctly now.

It becomes account bound upon selecting stats and stays account bound even after upgrading it then. Each upgrade allows selecting stats again for the appropriate level/quality you upgrade it to. It also stays account bound after applying an upgrade component to the back item.

I’ve not made the ascended (only up to exotic), but dulfy shows that it stays account bound even after upgrading it to ascended and selecting stats. I haven’t looked on dulfy to see if infusing does anything to account bound status. We also do not yet know if account bound status remains after the next upgrade to alter the color of the ascended back item. Can’t upgrade it yet as it needs crystal things from today’s update to upgrade it.

I’d just like to point out that the Gas Mask was not tradeable and was account bound on acquire as the meta reward for the Tower of Nightmares and was a one-time use item. This means your statement of getting it from the trading post for a gold is false. Also, how specifying your server matters in this statement eludes me as the trading post is shared by all game servers and is not a different TP for each server.

First, the suggestions forum is closed. We are instead asked to make suggestions in their relevant forums – gem store would likely be in the Black Lion Trading Co forum.

Second, the sales going on each day of March are not past event items, it is a sale on current items as well as on some past items that were available only in the gem store which may also have had a tie-in to what happened to be going on in LS event at the time; Rox’s Bow, Marjory’s Daggers, Braham’s Hammer or whatever his weapon is, old infinite use tools maybe.

I do not think you can expect past event only meta reward items to be in the gem store. As it is, it is nearly impossible to get one of the previous event items (like the jet pack) from the super 1,200 civilians saved bags.

Looking back at the history of what they consider a “feature” and what their idea of “big” is regarding GW2…nobody should be expecting anything worthwhile and should actually be fearing unwanted, unneeded, unrequested things that break other things to be all that is included in it. Until they actually start releasing expansion-like content consistently through their LS and feature patch releases and start behaving like a real game company again, I’ll not take anything they say seriously and file it under bloated PR and marketing talk as that is all it has ever been for GW2 with no tie to a little thing called “reality”.

I completely agree with your critique on armor designs in your initial posts.

I’m still in the process of working on some armor designs and I plan to cover all races and genders in each design, but when I finish them I’ll be sure to ask your opinion of them to see if our desires for armor designs match up with what I am working to design. I hope to submit them to Anet here on the forums for them to use freely. Maybe they just can’t come up with any ideas or hire people who are able to. During a discussion on armor designs with a dev here on the forums, I finally came out and directly asked them if the lack of armor being released and of variations to existing armor is due to a bottleneck in the design phase or the modeling phase and offered both my designs and my models free for their use. Not surprisingly, there was no response to my question and no further posts on the matter.

For a game touted as having armor and appearances as being very important, and horizontal progression as being primarily aesthetic in nature (armor), most players seem happy with any armor scraps that are occasionally thrown our way. It’s quite odd.
Most (and in some cases all) armor is:

• Limited in mix-n-match capability (clipping, conflicting designs, inconsistent material and dye appearances as mentioned below)
• Commonly lacking (and/or having oddly chosen) dye channel areas
• Rigid in design and lacking alternate variations
• Lacking the ability to flip elements of the armor to the opposite side
• Very oddly designed and is ruined with excessive artistic elements that do not belong with the rest of the armor design and cannot be hidden or dyed (and sometimes contains elements that can be dyed by one species/gender and are undyeable on others)
• Too inconsistent in how dyes appear and interact with different materials on the same armor, and even with the same materials on the same armor
• Lacking in quality and often clip with other armor items from the same set, as well as occasionally completely missing textures on the backs of areas of the armor
• Plagued by red texture bleed areas on edges and at texture seams (and sometimes more visible the further you zoom your camera away from your character)

There are a lot of armor designs I really like, and a lot of them that I like specific elements of. However, my overall feeling on armor made for Gw2 (from design to rate of release, from customization to implementation) is summed up in one word: Lacking

I’d actually be really interested to see if the China version of the game will have alternate versions of all the existing armor that is in our version.

If there do end up being alternate versions, I wonder if we’ll get a ‘China Armor Skin Pack’ released to us. It would be pretty odd if they made new or modified existing armor designs available to their players without releasing them to us as well, especially if they sold it as armor packs in the gem store (though I’d prefer them as replacements to the heart vendor armor skins).

Also, if they are getting different versions and designs of armor, perhaps this explains why we have had next to nothing in armor designs being made available to us in-game or via the Gem Store despite being a game focusing on aesthetics and armor appearances – they’ve been too busy making a whole new game full of armor for the China release. If that is the case, I wonder if we can expect a proper amount of armor to finally be made available to us due to their no longer being burdened with working on in-game armor for the China version. If that is what has been keeping them from releasing the armor skins they should have been releasing this whole time, it would’ve been nice to actually have some communication in the past year and a half of their resources being focused on the China release as being the reason for our pittance of armor releases. Had they said something, I know I’d understand. Silence is not cool, especially if they want people to stick around. They’re way too silent (read: no communication at all) when it comes to why certain things are the way they are and why other things that should have been done long ago are still not done.

On that same note, I’m a little confused as to why they did those freebie sales with this 31 days of sales coming up. They gave out a free crafting booster last week and here they are trying to sell them at a discount today even though everyone just got a free one. I’ve stopped trying to figure out their logic regarding the gem store, or anything else they do for that matter.

I won’t speak for Shades.4572 and how (s)he words items in text, but for the image I’ll continue to update, I’d rather not include the day of the week on it as the days of the week are not the same for everyone due to location, just as the date is not the same for everyone. Knowing there are 31 days of sales, and 31 days in March, and Day 1 was on March 1st (server time), it seemed easier for everyone to just state the current day’s sale item.

May want to consider saving the drawings (if you’ve not destroyed them yet) as who knows what Anet may do with excess Luck consumables in the future considering many will eventually hit 300. I’m sure Luck will be given some post-300 mf use eventually.

Ah. Thanks. I was just writing it out as I was thinking of it spur of the moment. I hadn’t put in any time to look at plausibility or matching with the timeline of events. I mostly come up with ideas as I am writing it out in one go as that is when I tend to get the most interesting concepts; before I over-think it. I was thinking that seemingly ‘random’ scarlet attacks could also have been agreed upon by Evon and Scarlet so as to not interfere with his merchandise shipping routes. Hmm. I think I may actually put in some time to see if I can get this to work with what we know of how events unfolded.

Evon then found Scarlet and saw she had mental issues, but was easily influenced. He then schemed to, not just encourage, but finance Scarlet’s cause and even supplied her with secret locations to work on her technologies and build her Marionette. His intention: to help her to wreak havoc with the ultimate goal being the total destruction of Lion’s Arch. (see edit)

Then, after the dust settles, paid voices rise up with cheers of how it was Evon who was responsible for saving the citizens of Lion’s Arch! This story is corroborated by the much-loved and respected Hero-Tron who had been bribed by Evon to back the lie with various items that Evon ‘acquired’ for ‘him/it’ (as well as with blackmail of Hero-Tron’s less than heroic deeds from the past). And from the ashes rises a false savior, a hero of the people. False information is found that points to Ellen Kiel as being in on planning the attack with Scarlet and she is ousted from her seat on the Captain’s Council, jailed and sentenced to death. However, Evon pleads mercy, and her death sentence is ‘lessened’ to the rest of her life in a prison cell where Evon visits her every day and boasts of besting her and that she will live out her days as an imprisoned hero, hated by the very people she strove to protect, and aware of Evon as being the one who orchestrated everything.

Evon also gets all the construction contracts to rebuild LA and he’ll rake in a ton of coin, is given his seat on the council and now holds more power in the city than ever before. Losing to Kiel was the best thing that ever happened to him.

(Honestly, that last part actually sounds a little too close to real life schemes of certain politicians supplying bombs and weapons to the bad guys to level cities so that the construction companies owned by these politicians get the rebuild contracts and make a ton of money on the deal. I wonder if Anet would actually throw this all too real scenario into their story…)

It is possible that when reports of Scarlet’s Thumper Devices showing up all over Tyria starting coming out, that Evon began to realize he did not have control over Scarlet; these devices were never part of the plan.

Little did Evon know that Scarlet wasn’t actually insane…she knew what was under Lion’s Arch and she allowed him to think he was using her. However, it was she who used him to reach her goal of unleashing the thing beneath Lion’s Arch.

Is it even worth it spending 20-22g for a hair style kit?

• For me, no, it is not worth it. For others it may be. I tend to have a helm visible most of the time on my characters so their hair style isn’t much of a concern to me. For those that I do have the hair visible on (or lack of hair), I am generally happy with my style chosen during creation as I put a lot of thought into each of my characters’ appearances and personalities ahead of time. If I were to role play certain aspects of my characters’ personalities drastically changing with what they have to endure (ex: experiencing the atrocities of war in LA), then I may change their appearances to reflect more of what they’ve gone through if an available style fits that scenario.

- Also, items will be going on sale each day of March. Expect gem prices to rise quite a bit over the course of the month as each new item goes on sale. I recommend converting your gold to gems now before everyone hops onto the conversion train and prices rise. I generally base my gold > gem conversions on how much 800 gems cost (character slot or armor skin set, both I am likely to be interested in picking up). For a while 800 gems was sitting between 55-58g. Then stuff came out and jumped to 68g for 800 gems and it didn’t come back down. As of right now 800 gems is about 63g and rising fast (already up to 64-65g as I am writing this sentence). In 12 hours I wouldn’t be surprised to see it hit 70g (or more) for 800 gems.

My recommendation:
Convert your gems to gold right now as the price will only keep rising as the month goes on due to daily sales being offered and discontinued items being made available again. You will not see gold > gem conversion rates this low again for at least 2 months. If you hang on to the gems you bought today you can likely expect a hairstyle kit to be on sale. If you wait until it goes on sale to buy gems with gold then you will likely end up having to pay 35-40g for the gems instead. Get them now before the rush of converters jumps on it.

I discovered another issue involving the medium Zodiac helm.
I reported it in the appropriate bugs section along with the other issues noticed so far.

Also, I really love the design of this medium helm. Absolutely love it. I just wish it didn’t have the blue face on it. Perhaps we can get more helms designed like this one, pretty please? Or implement a variation of my #9 suggestion in my sig where purchasing the skin for 800 gems unlocks the base skin and alternate variations of the skin can be purchased/unlocked and then include this helm without the blue face aspect of the skin as a variant that can be purchased.

(also, as a quick note – if you ‘relax your eyes’ like those 3D hidden picture things with my second image then you get a real cool half-n-half composite of flesh tone and blue I thought that was cool)

Zodiac Medium Armor Combination Texture Issue

Introduced with the 2014, February 24th LS patch that added the Zodiac Armor to the Gem Store.

Species: Human
Gender: Female
Class: Medium Armor
Item Combination:

1. Helm – Zodiac Medium Armor (Gem Store)
2. Chest – Assassin’s Coat (Human Tier 3 Cultural)
3. Gloves – Radiant Vambraces (Achievement Skin)
4. Boots – Nika’s Boots (Trading Post)

Issue: This specific combination causes a strange texture issue on the small of the back. Removing/hiding any one of these 4 pieces of armor gets rid of the issue, but all 4 equipped and visible causes the odd effect of a square chunk being taken out of the small of the back.

I feel like a G.I. Joe guy with a big hole in the back for the screw that held the torso together.

There have been several discussions regarding players being AFK inside LA during the event and how Anet did not think to prevent such behavior by making a required number of tasks to be completed to “earn” the reward. I’m also totally fine with players doing this as long as they do not use disallowed programs to circumvent the AFK timer and prevent themselves from being kicked or break any other rules agreed upon by us all in the Terms of Service. Honestly, Anet should have thought about this potentially being an issue. If it was something they didn’t want to happen then they should’ve changed the AFK timer while in LA or, more appropriately, make required actions be completed to be eligible for the reward bag. This became an issue for many on day 1 of the patch and it was quickly brought to Anet’s attention. If Anet didn’t want to permit this behavior then they should have patched the game to have the said requirement for reward and/or the shortened AFK timer. By not fixing the supposed problem, they essentially said it was permissible behavior (within the limits of the ToS). Inaction is an action. Leaving it as is without it being corrected shows it is permissible (despite an actual employee seeming to become annoyed by this behavior and decided to take personal and flat out wrong action against legitimate players playing the game in a permissible way).

Several of such threads have been closed due to people being people, but feel free to browse the forums for those threads as anything else that can be said about the situation has been said in those.

Updated some appearances and made a new character to incorporate elements of Zodiac armor.

I strongly agree. It has also been highly requested since the day they released them and it has not been added yet.

Also, I’d like to add that the hellfire helm on asura also requires some attention…still.

Unfinished products get pushed out due to deadlines and they never get revisited and fixed due to yet more deadlines for more items that will also not be finished (one example of the countless many is the recent zodiac armor). Personally, I do not expect them to ever get added dye channels or have the clipping issues fixed. Then again, perhaps one day we will get a nice surprise…

The issue you are discussing is not related to the issue being discussed in this thread.

For your issue, to withdraw a single mini from a stack of them in your collections tab, first hold your ALT key and drag the mini to your inventory. Instead of getting the ‘split stack’ pop up it will instead drop only a single mini into your inventory from the stack.

The description says to “Kill members of the Toxic Alliance in Lion’s Arch”, but enemies outside of LA count toward the daily task.

Example:
I was in Caledon Forest and protecting Falias Thorp from Nightmare Court and killing 10 of the attackers completed the achievement.

Shouldn’t it be restricted to only Toxic Alliance members killed inside Lion’s Arch seeing as it specifically states “…in Lion’s Arch”?

I recommend trying to get as many blade shards as possible before the next patch (just in case they go) and storing them for later use. Who knows, they may decide to unbind them (unlikely) or give them a vendor value and we may be able to sell them then (again, unlikely).

You may also find that you want to make one of the back item variations down the road for a character but do not have the blade shards anymore, so get them while you can.

I just did a few LA runs last night and got enough blade shards to make several of the exotic back items. However, I also like the back item without the blades so I made a few of those to hang on to so I can transmute the non-blade look onto the exotic stats later on.

Loading screens in general are becoming a burden in this game. There are times when I find myself wondering if the client has simply frozen/crashed. If it had always been this way, it would be easy to blame the hardware, but this is something that has gotten steadily worse over the past 7 or 8 months. Load times are just unacceptable now. Throw that in with the double-load you get when using the air ship, and it’s a matter of a couple minutes before I can even start playing.

It’s your hard drive/SSD.

Hard drive is running just fine. Doesn’t take any longer to load any other games or programs that I use. Only performance with GW2 has gone down hill over the last half year or so. Try again.

Yep it’s not the hard drive it’s the game. I have noticed it varies as well depending on where I am guesting and if a major event is going to start. The busy servers have a much longer load time. On the side, as far as the Air ship is concerned it should put you back where you came from (e.g. Vigil) not the other camp.

BTW have you tried defragging your gw2 data file and exe?

For what it’s worth: My drive is a 7200rpm Hitachi. The GW2 dat file is unfragmented. I know only a small amount about drives. Currently HD Tune shows an average 98.3mb/sec transfer rate with a 14.1access time. In that environment, which has been persistant most likely since I got the computer, Divinity’s Reach loaded in at just under 1minute when I tested just now.

Several patches ago (pre-wintersday) Divinity’s Reach (bank waypoint) started taking nearly a full minute to load into and then I was welcomed with invisible ground and walls and a fully transparent UI for an additional 30 seconds before they loaded properly. They broke DR, which is a shame as I love that place.

I’ve since started to use Rata Sum’s Accountancy Waypoint as my home base and it loads up in 8-12 seconds with an additional 5 for the transparent UI to fill in.

They also recently changed it so the process only gets opened when you open your TP in-game, and when you close your TP it stops the process.

So make sure to open your TP in-game and then alt+tab to your task manager to verify awesomium_process.exe is running.

1) Game Cache Clear
We all have a game cache. You may want to take the steps I outlined above to clear it and see if that solves your TP issues.

2) Check the game for errors and repair it

• Close your game completely.
• Next, make a copy of your Gw2 game shortcut and rename it “GW2 Repair” or to something that you will recognize it for being only for running a repair on your GW2 installation.
• Now, right-click this “Gw2 Repair” shortcut and click on “Properties”.
• On the “Shortcut” tab look in the “Target:” field, you should see:
  “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” or wherever you have Guild Wars 2 installed.
• After the closing quotation marks in this line put a space and then add -repair
  It will look like this but with your GW2 install location:
  “C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2” -repair
• Hit OK after making this change.
• Run this repair shortcut. Your game will run through a repair cycle and fix any damaged files it finds.
• After it runs through, start the game using the normal GW2 game shortcut (not the repair shortcut) and see if your game can start up properly.

8) Proxy Check/Disable
In your Windows Control Panel via your Start Menu:

• Choose to view as icons instead of as categories in the top right.
• Open Internet Options
  • Click on the Connections tab
  • At the very bottom click on LAN Settings
    • Check the Automatically Detect Settings box
    • Make sure the lower Proxy Server boxes are unchecked

You may have had them inside of an invisible bag. If items are kept inside of an invisible bag then they do not deposit when you hit deposit all collectibles.

Tuskor, check your Internet Options (via Control Panel or in the Tools menu in Internet Explorer) and under the Connections tab make sure you do not have a “Proxy” enabled there.

Also, do you happen to be using Mumble or any other overlay program (like MSI Afterburner) or any command line statements in your game shortcut like “nopatchui” or anything?

Just want to make sure you’ve checked/tried all of these:

1. Cleared the GW2 Game Cache
2. Ran a repair cycle on your game client
3. Set the game to “Run As Admin”
4. Disabled any overlay programs (MSI Afterburner, Mumble, etc.)
5. Made sure your game shortcut is not using the -nopatchui command line argument
6. Have tried adding the /clientport 80 command line argument to the shortcut
7. Made sure your Adobe Flash is up to date
8. Checked your Control Panel > Internet Options > Connection settings and made sure to disable any Proxy Setting that may be enabled there

Quite honestly, I feel very sad for my minis. It makes me so sad when my little princess doll just catches up to me after I stopped to kill something, due to falling so far behind me while I was running, and I take off again right when she reaches me. It is especially heart-wrenching when she does that sad, sad scream as she is running toward me and is only welcomed with me turning and running away again.

@Smooth Penguin: I believe there’s a bandana you can wear if you’re a Light Armor user if that’s what you’re after.

Unfortunately, I believe Smooth was poking fun at how could anyone be able to use both on a single helm, and that two helms would obviously be needed; one for each skin. I believe they were basing this idea on skins and helms as they currently exist, instead of how they could exist (and has been requested and might have been implemented) to where the helm has an additional L/R check box under the Show/Hide box that toggles the left or right patch as being displayed. Sadly, this was not added for this skin despite being the perfect opportunity to implement this type of feature.

I still strongly desire a “Mirror” button implemented next to each armor slot that flips the skin. Would be really nice for further defining our character appearances instead of seeing so many cookie-cutter clones. It would be really nice to have human T3 medium with an underboob on her right instead of on her left with the sash/skirt thing hanging off the left instead of the right. Or, like with shoulder armor that is only on one shoulder, have it on the opposite shoulder instead. So many shoulders clip with the feathers on the right arm of the light Phoenix chest armor that would not if the shoulders could be flipped, or the chest armor flipped to where the sleeve is on the left arm instead of on the right. So many possibilities for customization options, yet there does not seem to be any interest in actually implementing any like this…or any at all for that matter.

Yes. Only one can be used at a time, and using each once consumes the skins. So it is not an infinite use skin to be applied repeatedly to change which side is used.

If you apply the left patch to your helm it gets consumed.
If you apply the right patch onto your left patch, your left patch is gone for good.
You must have two helms with the skins applied to each of them and swap the actual helms to swap which eye is used.

Maybe they will add a PvE skin closet in the future which makes skins infinite use (I wouldn’t even mind having to pay some coin every time I withdrew a skin from it).

As it is now, use any (non-achievement reward) skin and it can not be applied more than once. That’s a horrible idea considering we are dropping a ton of gems on skins that are single use. I’m sure their sales would actually increase if skins were unlocked for the account even if there is a withdraw charge for future uses of the skin. I really don’t know about their monetization team and where they get these ideas or why they stick with them. My business and marketing professors that I keep in touch with just shake their heads with each new item added to the gem store. It is quite sad to see the potential to make many players happy and to vastly increase revenue at the same time not being realized.

For those posting here that are hoping Anet is watching this thread, they do seem to be watching it as they are also directing other people posting about these issues to post in this thread. Not sure if you can expect a red post here yet, but at least it is good to know they are watching and reading your feedback.
