Have you tried unplugging your modem/router for 30-60 seconds and then plugging it back in to see if this reset helps resolve the issue?
Another user has also stated that they did a full reset of their modem/router via the holding of the ‘Reset’ button to return the device to factory settings and that this helped them.
Others stated that uninstalling Panda Media Booster solved their problem if you happen to have that installed.
Also, if you use a USB Wi-Fi- stick to connect, check your power scheme settings in your control panel and make sure your USB ports are not on energy saving mode.
Also check the power settings and device settings for your network device to make sure it is not enabled to allow it to be deactivated to save power.
Can also check your network device’s advanced settings and increase the ‘Receive Buffers’ to 2048 if it is not already (is sometimes set to 1024 or less), and ‘Transmit Buffers’ to 1024 (or 2048) if it is not already (usually it is at 256).
Updating your Root Certificates via Windows Update. (XP needs to manually update them)
That’s about all I can come up with right now without knowing if it is a desktop or a laptop, wired or wireless, what Windows version, etc.

You’ve included your email address in the image you attached. I strongly urge you to remove it and edit out your email.
If you are actually seeking help to resolve your issue, then you might consider including the exact error you receive if you do receive one, as well as explaining the issue in detail; do you run into a login problem at the update check before even logging in, at the launcher with the actual login, can log in but cannot get the game to run, cannot load up any characters…

You’re welcome. I’m glad to hear it fixed the problem.
Try to use the “Remove Dye” tool on all dye areas and save the changes. Then go back and re-dye to your liking. This should fix the issue of dye changes not being saved.

oh my god. this is amazing.
of course nothing is perfect though. the only problems i can foresee are:
1) people only want to log in during the dragon months and not the rest of the year
2) no one will want to help new players defeat the dragons again
3) no cantha/elona :’(but other than that. A+!
EDIT: also, how do we get this post in the collaborative development thread or whatever it is called?
Shriketalon already commented on it there and included individual year images. Some other players have also commented on it and praised its epicness in that thread.

No need to feel dumb, I actually had to log in and do it before submitting my reply just to make sure that was how it was done as I couldn’t remember. It’s not that intuitive and there is no tip mentioned on screen like “Leave Blank To Reset” or anything.
I was happy to help out
Hey again. Um, let’s see. Are you using any command line arguments added onto the ‘target’ line of your game shortcut’s properties?
Do you have any programs running that could be interfering? Do you use Mumble, MSI Afterburner, MOG Music Service or anything that has an overlay on your screen?
Heya, KyreneZA.
Is this the issue you are describing?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Gem-store-error
Or do you mean that everything is kind of thrown all the way to the left and stacked on eachother or fonts all messed up?
Have you tried to Run As Administrator and clear your gw2 game cache files already to see if that helps fix it?

I think adding a character entry limit to all text fields that have a max character limit would be good. Once the limit is reached, no further characters can be entered. This would also work well with having a character entry counter underneath the text field to show characters used/remaining. Extend this functionality to all text fields (body of comments as well).
ex.
367/5000 Characters Used
You should have no problem attaching a gif to a comment after going to the “More posting & formatting options…” area under the Post button. When attempting to attach a gif at this screen does it give you an error or does it just seem to never attach with a very long load screen after clicking Reply or Preview? If it just sits there looking like it is attaching it, perhaps it is a very large file size and it is taking a long time to upload it to the server and attach it. You may want to resize it to make it smaller before uploading it.

That’s so awesome. You’re quite welcome. I have no idea why an Error 7 issue was corrected by running a ‘repair’, but whatever worked! If you happen to get random disconnects or more Error 7’s and stuff or whatever, do not hesitate to pop in here (or tech support forum) again.
Happy adventuring!
If you haven’t yet, check your Windows Update (in your start menu) for installation and/or updates to the .NET framework. Making sure it is installed and updated has also helped resolve some Error 7 issues. May also check for some Root Certificate updates in Windows Update as well.
Other info if you don’t mind:
Another thing to try is “/clientport 80” if you haven’t yet.
(edited by StinVec.3621)
As for the other options I mentioned of deleting the local.dat and running " -repair", here are those steps if you want to give those a try or already have tried them. Otherwise, disregard this post:
Delete the local.dat file
Deleting this file will also cause you to lose your saved game settings (graphics, stored login data, etc.) but may fix the problem. If you rely on your stored login info to log in, make sure you can recall what your login info is as the stored login info is also cleared.
The quickest way to do this is to:
Check the game for errors and repair it
As your character is stuck in addition to having the Error 7 issue, I do not think deleting the local.dat file or running " -repair" on the client will help as has helped others with stuck characters in the past. If you want to give those options a try I can help with that as well.
Many things seem to be possible causes for that error, so it may be related to a modem/router setting or being connected wired/wirelessly to it, as well as some other possibilities. Honestly, I don’t think anyone really knows an exact cause or blanket solution to it.
One thing to try is:
Are you currently using Windows XP?
If so, you may need to manually update Root Certificates (as XP users must do).
Update the Root Certificates and see if this helps resolve the issue as I have seen it help some others with the Error 7 issue.

Salome — so that I can best understand this: Was what you experienced an actual game bug? Or did you have a gameplay question that players were able to answer through forum posts?
Just to assist Salome:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/support-request-Mini-Toxic-Nimross-71572
It was related to the achievement unlock hierarchy to where, despite the conditions having been met to receive the mini reward, the achievement was not unlocked yet due to it remaining unjustifiably locked until its prerequisite achievement was completed.
(I say ‘unjustifiably’ as it seems that it is not initially unlocked simply for the sake of forcing all players to repeat the encounter just to encourage additional anti-toxin to be injected to advance the anti-toxin meter)
Had the Support Representative familiarized themselves with the most recent update then it would have been obvious to them that it was not a bug. They would have then been able to offer the same responses given by players in that thread and in a timely manner instead of also taking a week and still not being appropriately responded to. It does appear to me as if the ticket was not even reviewed to see if the issue could be diagnosed and resolved, but was instead dismissed with a copy/paste response that did not even attempt to offer Salome with the appropriate support.
As this particular issue was reported and discussed enough on the forums in the first days of the game update being released, I feel that Support should have easily been able to recognize the issue in the first reading of the ticket and then give an appropriate response to resolve the misunderstanding.
As you mentioned, Gaile, ensuring Support Representatives familiarize themselves with the latest game update would be ideal for issue recognition. Familiarization with frequently reported issues on the forums following a new game update would also help with appropriate issue resolutions for players contacting support.

You’re so awesome. Thank you
I re-watched your live stream from last month upon reading of your mention of bleeding. I had completely forgotten about your comments in the video regarding the color red on the textures and then realized that these red bleeding elements on so many armor pieces are likely to be related to that aspect of them. Unless I completely misunderstood; texturing was never really my focus. (re-watches again)
I’ve just found it to be very distracting when you have 11 characters and there are graphical issues on every one of them staring back at you while trying to play. I am sure that any bleeds you corrected and any other issues that you are able to give attention to will make many people very happy. Thank you again.
You’re not alone with a “slow” connection; my maximum download is around 175-185 kb/s. I know “slow” is relative, but 180/s is just fine with me. I’m of the generation where downloading a single song taking days or even a week over dial-up was the norm, and if the line dropped or someone called in (the new “call-waiting” feature on phones lol) then I had to start all over again.
I recommend playing a single player game while it downloads so you are entertained with something that does not require the internet connection: lots of solitaire, the Dead Spaces, DmC, Sins, Empire Earth, billion others…
Or try your hand at drawing armor designs or character portraits, or coming up with your own background stories for your characters that you will act out once in-game.
Or give a book a try to pass the time.
I highly recommend these fantastic space opera novels. Check your local library for them. If you prefer audio books, the audio versions narrated by the fantastic John Lee are great as his voice fits the characters so well:
Also, I highly recommend that, after you are fully downloaded and patched up, you make a backup copy of your installation folder/files someplace else on your drive so you do not need to re-download the entire thing in the future if something happens with your current installation so you can just copy the files over again.

I find the numbers stated in this thread to be very interesting. Since the day I added my Quartz node to my home instance during the Bazaar, I’ve never once received multiple quartz from a single gathering. Every single gathering I’ve ever done on my quartz node has given only a single quartz regardless of what pick I’ve used. So I have only ever gotten 3 total quartz from mine for a day’s mining of it. Until reading the numbers in this thread I never once thought I should or could be getting more
Ah, so it isn’t the normal connection error issue and is a sudden rise of a different issue.
Ashley Segovia commented here in the Tech Support forum requesting those who are suddenly experiencing this issue to submit a support ticket to gather more info on it.
Have you tried a full modem/router reboot to see if that helps?
Can you make sure that your anti-virus and/or firewall are not blocking the game?
Perhaps you may need to remove and re-add the game to the anti-virus/firewall exceptions list to allow it access again. I’ve seen others have to re-create the exception in the past depending on what AV/FW you are using.
Also, close your game completely, ensure that your game is set to Run As Administrator in the shortcut’s Properties > Compatibility tab and then try again and see if that helps.
In the past using AHK has been discussed to address this lack of an option and many do use it due to medical issues.
In this thread is a comment where a person gives a little script that makes clicking your middle mouse button (clicking the wheel in) act as a right mouse button that is always held down. Then clicking it again (or even actually hitting your right mouse button) causes it to disable. And it only functions within the GW2 program when it is the active window.
I used to use it daily for a while to get around a physical defect issue for right mouse button activation. I’ve since found another way around that issue outlined in that thread.
So you click the MMB in and it is as if you are holding the right mouse button. Then either hit the actual RMB to disengage it or hit the MMB again. It really does help for those with physical issues that limit the ability to continuously hold the right mouse button down for character directing.
You can also define what button you may prefer instead of the middle mouse button. Mostly just need to look at what the program refers to the key you want to use as and replace “MButton” in the script with the designation for the key you want.
Thank you Vick for the screenshots. And Thank you StinVec for the continued diligence! I’ll take a look into it and see whassup.
I do so enjoy reading your posts, Kristen Perry. Your natural and honest manner of communicating is refreshing and I often have a good chuckle from the occasional bad/good pun you sneak into your highly informative comments. I am happy to see you will be looking into this issue. Thank you.
If the above scenario is not the case, then you may want to check your selected time zone and clock settings for your computer clock as the game references what that is set to when displaying the local time on the in-game clock.

You must first complete the “Tower Antitoxin Injector” achievement to unlock the “Toxic Hybrid Master” and “Toxic Hybrid Slayer” achievements. You cannot unlock and complete those two achievements until you first run through and inject anti-toxin into the injector.
If you injected anti-toxin into the injector after killing the hybrid in the instance you reference, then you likely completed that achievement and unlocked those other two after the fact. You must then run through and defeat the hybrid once again.

Despite the release page stating that the skin is “unlocked”, the skin is not an “unlocked skin”. Due to not actually being “unlocked”, it is only a single use skin and not an infinite use skin that is found in the Unlocked Rewards section of the Achievements Tab of the Hero panel.
I’m sorry to say that you may not be able to get your skin back. Couldn’t hurt to file a support ticket and explain what happened. Click support at top of the page and then “Submit a request” in the top right of that page. You might also want to mention in your ticket that the wording on the release page clearly states that the skin is unlocked, which implies it is an Unlocked Reward Skin and infinite use, and that you should be given a replacement skin due to this wholly misleading and incorrect usage of the word “unlock” in the description of the item leading you to believe that it was, indeed, an Unlocked Reward and infinite use skin.
Good luck.
Title: Bridge To Landscape Transition Openings
Zone: Caledon Forest
Area: Treemarch Estuary (near Kraitbane Haven Waypoint)
The two bridges do not blend into the road landscape at all four connection points due to the landscape dipping down instead of being raised to cover over the ends of the bridges. This dipping of the landscape results in large openings where the bridge endings should be covered over.
Now that was a full-on pun that only the most creative minds can concoct, especially if it was not intended and it happened naturally.
I laughed quite loudly at that.
(If anyone missed it, read that as a game update ‘patch’ that fixed her eye that could also be taken as an actual ‘eye patch’ to ‘fix’ it. Wordplay is fun.)
(edited by StinVec.3621)
You should introduce your ‘lazy eye’ character into your Warning Buoy thread.
Due to the awesome of that thread and the attention that it has from many, perhaps it will bring awareness to the issue and thus more likely to be corrected.
When zoning, as well as other mechanics (like cinematics, vista’s, waypointing, etc) that get your character out of your own control, the game make you invulnerable untill control is back in your hands and you are able to move again.
I have had situations where I went to the desktop while loading and ended up dead but never ever when I kept watching the loading screen. I hardly believe that you kept watching that screen in this situation and ended up death. It just not works that way.
To prevent situations like this happening, always zone to a place you know is safe or don’t go afk at all when zoning.
I’ve encountered this issue on several occasions when I just happened to have logged out in a poorly-selected and dangerous spot. Upon logging back in, by the time I loaded to the world I have found myself nearly half-dead from being attacked by a drake or other nearby enemy.
Yeah, that’s a rather odd decision. Do all threads featuring ArenaNet trailers get sent here?
From what I can see none of the Nightmare Within trailer, Rock the Nightmare trailer and contest, or the Tower of Nightmares trailer discussions were moved to this sub-forum. Nor have past discussions on previous release trailers been moved to here.
This had to have been a mistake and the wrong sub-forum was selected for its destination.
Well, bring attention to it, and ye shall receive! I see we are now in a more appropriate sub-forum. =)
:D
Thank you very much to whoever brought this thread to the appropriate sub-forum. I just didn’t want to see this thread discussing the qualities of the trailer (and the ‘behind-the-scenes’ info from Matthew Oswald) to disappear into the depths of the Linksville Abyss.
I’m having trouble choosing which segment I enjoy most. Each piece so appropriately told a fragment of a story, and the transitions are so well done in that they effortlessly flow into eachother (even literally), that I am even left rooting (as well as mourning) for the nameless and faceless heroes embroiled in the fractal scenarios and conflicts portrayed within them.
I just want to reaffirm my statement of appreciation for the work and creativity put into this video.

The thread “Best trailer ever!” was moved from Guild Wars 2 Discussion because it was a better fit for the Linksville sub-forum.
What?
Why was this thread moved to the “Linksville” sub-forum from “Guild Wars 2 Discussion”?
If it was going to be moved at all then it should have been moved to the “Fractured” forum as it is discussing the trailer for that game update.
Matthew Oswald, would you see about having this thread more appropriately moved to the Fractured sub-forum instead of where it has now been moved to, please?
(edited by StinVec.3621)
One of the all around best videos I’ve seen for GW2 to date. I don’t think it would have really been as appreciated for its quality had it been used in the past as it can be today.
I have never stepped into fractals for several reasons, but I will be adding this video onto the end of the GW2 trailers I watch every day before hopping in-game to set the mood and get in the GW2 mind frame as I roam the open world.
Fantastic job, Matthew Oswald and team(s).

Just as a note, on the bottom right of your map while in the tower there are “levels” of the map that you can cycle through. If you go up/down a level you will be presented with the Tyria map where you can waypoint to any place you desire.
Regarding the enemies at the entrance/exits of the Tower, I don’t know why they are there at all. Also, no matter which of the three entrances anyone enters the Tower from, everyone is placed at the same exact entrance area within the tower. When exiting the Tower, I don’t know how it is determined which of the three sides of the Tower you will exit from. The south entrance/exit normally has several enemies (including elite) guarding it, while I’ve only really seen a single toxic krait at the the other two entrances/exits.
Try clearing your GW2 game cache.
The quickest way to clear the GW2 Cache is to:
If your search for “gw2cache” does not produce the folder I mentioned, then you will need to enable hidden files and folders in order to delete this cache folder.

Interestingly I am annoyed by this for more than one year. I didn’t consider posting about this until today, but I’m fed with this. Especially because the camera zooms, and I need to re-adjust the camera when I’m revived. It is really disturbing while fighting the new Tequatl since it requires to stay focused (on the fight) and a wide field of view is mandatory to be efficient.
So please allow us to remove this unpleasant effect, at least this zoom.
Thanks!
The issue you are reporting is separate from what was discussed in this thread from early this/last year. The issue you are reporting, which is highly annoying, is the camera zooming all the way in on your character upon being downed. When you rally from being downed you must re-zoom your camera back out, and if you are downed again then the camera zooms all the way in on your character all over again. Repeat.
This issue was taken care of in the past so the camera would not auto-zoom in fully on your character upon being downed, but the “Nightmare Within” update (and maybe even back to the “Tower of Nightmares” update) reintroduced this issue.
Perhaps someone should consider posting this issue appropriately into its own thread in the Bugs Forum in the hopes that it might gain attention there and be corrected.
