Will the Mask of the night be 1 per account?

in Blood and Madness

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Sadly they’ve been veering more and more against alts, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they limited it to one per account.

Which is completely illogical from a marketing point of view. Alts are crucial to a good mmo with a cash shop, especially one such as GW2’s Gem Store to where most items for sale are vanity and convenience. I should think they’d want to make more money, not cripple any potential sales like their current strategy does.

thought I was immune to the allure of tools

in Blood and Madness

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

I may have gotten this but 800 gems is far too much for this kind of content. That’s like a monthly subscription and I don’t think that’s worth a month in subscription fees.

What you said is completely contradictory. If you bought it, it’s priced correctly. That’s how supply and demand works.

They didn’t say that they bought it, they said that they may have been interested in buying it had it not been as expensive as it is, that had it been less expensive they’d have probably picked one up.

That is also in line with my feelings on the subject of Infinite Gathering Tools; I don’t mind “Soulbound on Use”, but at 800 Gems each…thanks, but no thanks. If they were 200 Gems each I’d be buying dozens of them. At 800 I won’t even be buying one.

Again, ArenaNet…people are more willing to make many smaller amount purchases over a single larger one, even if it ends up costing more in the long run. At 200 Gems each, I’d happily spend 6000 gems to outfit 10 characters with a single set of Infinite Gathering Tools, instead I’m spending no gems.

I’d also have no problem with buying additional versions of the infinite tools on each of those 10 characters when they are released or made available. I’d swap out to whichever I felt like using at the time. So also buying each variation of each Infinite Gathering Tool across 10 characters would really add up.

Infinite Gathering Tools
10 Characters
3 Infinite Tools Each
3 Variations of Each Tool (when made available)
18,000 – # of Gems I’d spend @ 200 Gems per tool
22,500 – # of Gems I’d spend @ 250 Gems per tool
ZERO – # of Gems I’ve spent and will ever spend on Infinite Tools that cost 800 Gems Each

And that’s just on Infinite Gathering Tools and not even getting into what would have been spent on pieces from a single set of Gem Armor had armor pieces been sold individually in the gem store instead of as full sets.

99% of marketing is psychology.

GW2 on WRONG monitor. Option was REMOVED!

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

One thing I ran across for this issue is, if you are running nVidia graphics, you can set up another profile in the utility that swaps your primary and secondary monitors only when this application launches. This would allow it to load on your other monitor by temporarily making it your primary monitor only while the game is running. Closing the game swaps the profiles back to your current primary monitor being the primary once again.
Note:
Though I’ve heard that upon closing the game and it reverting your current primary monitor back to primary again can cause issues of icons be reorganized, but it shouldn’t be a problem on Win7 or 8 systems as the icon placement is supposedly remembered. Though one could also use Stardock’s “Fences” program (I highly recommend this program on all Windows systems), or “Enterra IconKeeper”, though I’ve never tried that one.

AMD also has this feature in the CCC for display configurations per application.

Another thing to check:
Move/copy your Gw2 shortcut to the desktop of your secondary monitor. Perhaps the game will only run fullscreen on the display it was launched from.

Also, what is the desktop resolution of the secondary display set at?
Perhaps it is not set to or is not capable of running at the resolution that is defined in Gw2’s graphics options in-game. If you can, make the desktop resolution on your secondary monitor the same as your primary monitor/what is selected in the in-game options.

Also, regarding the Windows Key + Left/Right
It should be Windows Key + SHIFT + Left/Right while the game is open and at fullscreen to move it between displays as long as the secondary display can display the game at the selected resolution.

It’s possible that you have a damaged or corrupted game file.

Try to run your game once with the " -repair" command line argument added to the end of the “Target” field of the shortcut. If there is a damaged or corrupt game file, perhaps it will be repaired by doing this.

[March] Getting stuck in the map/seeing map art issues?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

StinVec.3621

This is the old version of this dedicated thread for these issues.

The proper thread, “Stuck in the map or seeing map art issues”, is currently stickied and where issues of this nature should be reported in.

Josh Davis, you had locked the old version of the “Issues with character art, weapons, or armor” thread so the current stickied one would be used to report those issues. Would you (or another mod) lock this thread as well to prevent it being used to report issues that belong in the current sticky thread, please?

I can't attack with left mouse click anymore?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

In your options, do you have the “Double-click to Attack/Interact” option checked?
Having this checked requires a double left click to attack or interact. Un-check this box to switch it back to a single left click to attack.

Sorry, I had that information wrong. I thought you were trying to make it target and auto-attack with a single left click, which isn’t possible. If you want it to be a double left click to target and attack, check/enable the “Double-click to Attack/Interact” option if it somehow got disabled.

It is:

  • Single Left click selects targets and does not attack.
  • Double Left click selects and auto-attacks a target IF you have the “Double-click to Attack/Interact” option enabled (on by default) AND you have a skill marked for auto-cast (control-right-click).
  • Single Right click selects and auto-attacks a target IF you have the “Right-click to interact/attack” option enabled (on by default) AND you have a skill marked for auto-cast (control-right-click).

dragonite ore are absurd...

StinVec.3621

Linked map would be a lot better if it was fully zoomable so that you can tell where the locations are- at the moment they are blurry blobs on the map which doesn’t really tell me where the chests are.

But a good effort nonetheless, hopefully someone will improve on it when they hae run it a few times.

Many thanks.

EDIT: a lot of these are jump puzzles so if like me you don’t like them then you won’t have a happy time- in an hour I collected 4 emp frags from 4 JPs, 2 of which I loathed so much I quit.

Would be useful to indicate on the map which are JP’s so they can be avoided and which are either open, or guarded by veteran, champ, etc so people can target the ones they want (and maybe someone will come out with a complete guide to running around the maps and doing all the non-JP ones in a reasonable timescale.

2 ways you can zoom in on that map image:

  • When you have it open in your browser, hold CTRL and scroll your mouse wheel to zoom in.
  • Right-click > Save Image: Then open it in your photo viewer and zoom in.

Trading post broken

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Most TP issues are related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.

Make hidden files visible and clear the game cache

  1. Close your game completely.
  2. Browse your My Computer to: “C:\Users\YourComputerUserName”
  3. Then in the window menus, click on “Tools” then “Folder Options…”
  4. In the window that pops up, click the “View” tab
  5. Select to “Show hidden files, folders and drives” and click ‘OK’ (attached image #1)
  6. You should now see a folder in your file listing called “AppData”, open this folder
  7. Inside that folder open the “Local” folder
  8. Inside that folder open the “Temp” folder
  9. You should now see a folder called “gw2cache-{1501A8C1-6AA1-1601-C2A8-0115A16A0116}” or something similar. Delete this gw2cache folder.
  10. Load up your game normally and see if the issue is fixed.

note
By “window menus” I mean up at the top of the window where it says “File Edit View Tools Help”. If that bar does not display in your window for you along the top, then click the drop-down arrow next to the word “Organize” and then click on “Layout” and select “Menu bar” to enable showing of the menus (attached image #2).

Another way to do Steps 3, 4 and 5 to make hidden folders visible is:

  • Click your Start menu and then open Control Panel
  • In your Control Panel, if items are sorted by “Category” then select “Appearance and Personalization” on the right side, then in the second bottom area under “Folder Options” click on “Show hidden files and folders”. This will open the same options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.
  • Otherwise, if Control Panel is sorted by Icons, simply click on “Folder Options” from the list to bring up the options dialogue box shown in attached image #1.

dragonite ore are absurd...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hmm. I’ve been using http://us.gw2stuff.com/ to find events. Yeah, they aren’t happening all the time, but most times I check I can find at least one happening soonish. For instance, right now a Tequatl is about to start in 15 minutes. I’d still say that gathering 500 dragonite ore is a lot easier for players that run dungeons, than 500 Empyrial Fragments are for players that run events.

There are plenty of emp fragments around that don’t involve events. Here’s a map I found (not one I made). Admittedly some are a lot easier with a thief.

http://i.imgur.com/gTRgrVd.jpg

Very true. And that’s a nice pic. Good find.
I get most of mine from those small world chests that you can get across multiple characters each day. Too bad for me I destroy them as I do not intend to waste any coin in crafting and have no interest in those so-called “Legendary” weapons or the New Gear Tier! aka “Ascended” weapons.

To Devs,
The issue being reported is that, unlike other former Magic Find-statted items, new drops of Delusion have not also been updated to have a predefined set of stats and be “Soulbound on Use” and tradeable. This results in this specific weapon skin to no longer be obtainable via the Black Lion Trading Post.

Here is a comparison example of the issue:

Super Hyperbeam Alpha

  • Previously had the Magic Find attribute
  • Previous MF-statted versions were returned from the TP
and made “Account Bound” with selectable stats
  • New drops of the item have “Assassin’s Stats”
  • New drops are “Soulbound on Use” and tradeable
  • Acquirable via:
    • Mystic Forge
    • Black Lion Trading Post

Delusion

  • Previously had the Magic Find attribute
  • Previous MF-statted versions were returned from the TP
and made “Account Bound” with selectable stats
  • New drops of the item have not been updated and still have ‘No Stats’ and must be selected
  • New drops of the item are still the “Account Bound” versions and are not tradeable
  • Acquirable via:
    • Mystic Forge
    • Boss chests in Fractals of the Mists
    • Various meta event chests

This revive bug is annoying, ETA?

I primarily encounter this issue of attempting to revive only resulting in my character to keep turning partially side to side, by happening upon a random “dead” person on the side of a slight hill and several people there with me are also unable to revive the person.

It is possible that dying on unlevel ground or a slight incline/hill can be linked to the issue of being unable to be revived if others have also experienced it primarily with a dead person on an incline/hill as well.

missing graphics and crashing ((A lot))

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Hi, therakiel.
It still sounds like a corrupt nVidia display driver despite all of the steps you took to update everything. The problem with display drivers is that updating or reinstalling them tends to not solve the problem of a corrupted/broken driver as the damaged file may not even be replaced with a driver update/reinstall. It is always best to fully remove any existing display driver before reinstalling or updating the drivers.

The best thing to do is to fully remove the display driver and then install the latest drivers again. The trick with nVidia is that some elements (Display Drivers) must be uninstalled first before removing other nVidia programs and drivers. So always remove the Display Drivers first and separately, followed by a reboot, before uninstalling any other nVidia components or drivers.

You will need to:

  1. Download the latest drivers
  2. Uninstall the Display Driver only and then be sure to reboot
  3. Install the latest drivers and then be sure to reboot
  4. Start GW2 and see if the issue persists

STEP 1

  • First download the latest nVidia drivers for your GeForce GTX 660 Ti with your preferred language:
    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
    Release Date: 2013.09.19
    Version: 327.23
Operating System: Windows 7 (32 bit)

STEP 2

  • Then, to uninstall your current NVIDIA Display Drivers from your system, follow these steps:
    • 1.) Go into your Control Panel
    • 2.) Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon
    • 3.) Select the NVIDIA Windows Display Drivers from the list of programs. (Attached Image)
    • 4.) Click Change/Remove or Add/Remove button.
    • 5.) Confirm with Windows that you wish to continue with the uninstall
Note: A prompt appears asking whether you want to delete all of the saved nView profiles.
If you click “Yes”, all of the nView software and all of your saved profiles will be deleted.
If you click “No”, the nView software is removed, but the profile files are saved in the
“Windows\nView” directory on your hard disk. If you take advantage of the nView profiles, you may wish to keep your custom nView profiles.

STEP 3

  • Once the driver files have uninstalled, Windows will request that you restart your computer to complete the uninstallation. You must restart your computer before performing the installation of the new drivers.
After the restart you can then choose to uninstall any or all other nVidia components that you wish. Removing all nVidia drivers and products and then performing the reinstall may not be required as it is likely just the Display Drivers that needed removing and reinstalling/updating.

STEP 4

  • Be sure to do a final reboot after the reinstallation and then see if the graphics issue persists.

Mouse losing focus -right click to turn not working [Merged]

I’ve been having an issue with my mouse right clicks focus as well.

I was in Arah yesterday with my guild and suddenly whenever I tried to move my camera with my right-click, it would make my character run. If I’m lucky, I can sometimes move my camera up to an aerial-view without my toon running, but that’s all I can manage with luck.

It also requires multiple clicks to open up the windows when right-clicking on certain items.

Though, I can move my camera only by pushing down on the right-side edge of the RMB.

Edit: I’m using an Azza gaming mouse.

You may be interested in scrolling up a few posts to see the graphic I attached that seems to be the cause for the problems you’re experiencing as you seem to have an extremely degraded/worn case of what I outlined.

The face definitely resembles that horrible piece of Rox artwork where she looked like a human in mid-transformation into a werewolf ala ‘An American Werewolf in Paris’ (awesome movie).

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

StinVec.3621

Unfortunately it does appear when equipped and is strongly visible. I just bought shiro’s coat and can see it. It hasn’t been fixed, unless if there’s some steps needed to fix this on my own.

My apologies. I’ve seen the red lines in almost every preview of an item but have never seen it being present after being equipped. I thought I was adding to your report by pointing out it is only visible in preview (I was misled by the inclusion of only preview screenshots), but your report was actually of them being visible when equipped. I hope that red line issue is looked at and corrected quickly.

Open your world map. In the bottom left corner is an options menu to check/un-check what elements to display on the map.

Does this solve the issue?

Jonathan Sharp, thank you for all that you do and the rest of the teams as well! It is so very much appreciated!

Regarding your statement of:
“Can now tab target if your character can see the target (Was dependent on camera before)”

My question is this:
Is your use of the word “see” used with the meaning of “in the actual line of sight of the character”, to where one cannot tab target/target nearest an enemy due to obstruction of the character’s line of sight? Or “see” meaning “in the direction the character is facing regardless of if the enemy is above or below them and is also obstructed by the environment”?

I ask this because, in the situation of an enemy being in the direction my character is facing, but it is below my character and obscured by the edge of a cliff, will it still be a viable target for tab target and target nearest as it currently is in the game?

I do not feel that an enemy that is not visible in either my character’s line of sight, or even my camera’s line of sight, is far below my character’s position and is also obscured by ground/walls/boulders should be a viable enemy to be selected via ‘tab target’ or ‘target nearest’, especially since attacks on this obscured enemy will not land due to being obscured.

Also, target nearest tends to target this enemy that is far away from me, below me, and obscured by terrain instead of the 3 that are eating my face right in front of me or right next to me.

Will these changes correct this undesired targeting behavior?

No response from GM's?

Well, ‘calling out’ another player’s name on the forums is against forum rules and you will likely be infracted for doing that.

Making personal insults and attacks against other forum members will also get you infracted.

Your thread will likely be deleted and you will be infracted for your behavior.
You may like to re-read the Forum Code of Conduct and also the Game Rules of Conduct to ensure that you conduct yourself in a manner that abides to the forum rules.

Here are a few that I’ll bring to your attention from the list that you agreed to abide by:

  • Be respectful. Be pleasant to forum members, staff members, and moderators.
  • Do not use profanity, insults, or personal attacks. If you have a problem with another member, contact a moderator.
  • Do not engage in staff call-outs. Using the words “ArenaNet” or any staff member’s name will not expedite the answer to your query.
  • Do not submit “trolling” posts or threads. We define “trolling” as commenting in a manner intended to elicit overly strong negative and emotional responses for mere shock value, attempting to derail threads, persistently posting off-topic, or engaging in personal attacks on another forum member. Accounts made with the sole intent to “troll” will be terminated.
  • Do not engage in personal attacks against forum members or in character assassination. Posts that attack another member, that single out a player for ridicule, or that accuse someone of inappropriate in-game actions will be removed without notice. In-game violations should be reported directly to our Support Team. If you believe that using the support system did not result in a sufficient or timely response, you may post your concern in the Support section of the forums.
  • Do not breach the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement. Any post or thread in which a player admits to violating the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement, encourages others to violate the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement, or violates the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement itself will be removed and the forum account will be terminated.

edit
(Just to note, the post this was a response to has been removed. Due to my failing to ‘quote’ the post this was responding to, this one persists. I’ll just leave this here though so as to encourage acceptable forum behavior in this discussion)

Salvaging D/Cs

It’s possible that you have a damaged or corrupted game file.

Try to run your game once with the " -repair" command line argument added to the end of the “Target” field of the shortcut. If there is a damaged or corrupt game file, perhaps it will be repaired by doing this.

Then why even have the button in the game if no one responds and nothing gets done. Is it to give off the illusion that someone gives a “kitten”.

There are many facets to the removal of bots. If they are not removed immediately or when you want them to be removed, then there is a good reason for it. It’s not just a simple task of banning a botter you suspect of botting. It’s much more complicated than that.

First they need to verify that they are, indeed, botting. If the player isn’t actually botting and are banned for botting, then that opens up a very bad situation. Another reason is the analyzation of data of how the person is botting to then implement a way to prevent that method from being used. If they are still gathering data on this method then it would be counterproductive to remove the botter before seeing how they are managing to bot.

Report the botters, let Anet do their job.
They’ve shown that they take the problem of botters seriously and have done what has been needed to prevent future botters from having such an easy time botting.

Botters are a disease.

  • Banning botters without seeing how they are able to bot is only attacking the symptoms and not curing the disease.
  • By analyzing how the game is susceptible to this disease, they are able to better protect it against it and similar diseases in the future.
  • When a new strain (method to bot) is discovered, it will be analyzed and then treated/cured to prevent future infections of that type.

It’s not as simple as just banning them to get them out of the game. If they did that, then each one they banned would be replaced by a dozen more and the problem would only get worse.

I tried to repro this using my Naga outside of GW2 and I was unable to. This particular Naga – I’ve had 2 – is about a month old.

Switching to my 6 year-old intellimouse optical which unquestionably has much, much more wear and tear on it resolves the problem.

This problem may be related to a physical contact glitch within some folks’ mice, but I’m just not buying that this many people have all gone clicking mad and not noticed it in any other game or desktop app otherwise.

That said, your work and theory are appreciated. More than we’re getting from Anet.

Thanks, Huz.

Some have reported it being an issue in other games and in the Windows environment as well (here and on many other websites), though it seems to be much more rare to affect users to that degree and most only experience it during GW2 play.

I’ll keep looking through aspects of hardware and software to see if I can find another cause or one that works in tandem with the issue I outlined to some degree. I was hoping it wouldn’t be of a much more complicated nature, but I’ll see what else I can dig up.

Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?

Race: Sylvari
Sex: Male
Proff: Thief
Armor: Aidan’s
Errol’s
Shiro’s
Nika’s
Reyna’s
Vatlaaw’s
Zho’s

Bug: All of coats mentioned above have broken texture/model. You can see a red line passing through front – middle, left – middle and back – middle.
Note that all graphic settings regarding texture quality are set on high thus this bug is not regarding some low settings.
Please fix this issue as this is one of main medium exotic coats and one of best looking ones as-well.
This model bug has been noted ages ago and nothing has been done yet.
Hope someone from AN actually will see this and take action. Thanks.

P.S. Fix some weapon distances please as well, as some off-hands just float in the air.

This ‘red line’ issue is only present when previewing armor (as your included image shows them in preview) and appears on almost all armor items in some fashion when they are previewed. However, the red lines do not appear on the equipment when they are actually equipped.

edit
My statement of it only happening in the preview window has been shown to be incorrect. The issue is very apparent in the preview window of many, many items, but their report was of it also being visible on that armor after being equipped.

Twisted Watchwork Shoulder invisible

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: StinVec.3621

StinVec.3621

Wearing Medium Coat (Shaman Reward Breastplate) will prevent any shoulder gears from displaying.

Shoulders not displaying in combination with that medium chest armor seems to be normal and intended behavior. Some chest armor do not permit shoulder armor to also display due to shoulder armor conflicting and clipping with the elements of the chest armor design.

Sorry. :\

If your shoulder armor with the Twisted Watchwork skin is now Soulbound and you want to move it to another character since it is not visible on your thief, you can transmute the Twisted Watchwork shoulder with a ‘Common’ (White) or ‘Fine’ (Blue) quality item to make the shoulders ‘Account Bound’. You can then transmute that item with another character’s shoulders to transfer the skin to that character.

I hope this helps you.
