Thank you very much for your replies (and yes I am a newbie at this game) it was the left and right buttons on the mouse that was the problem. Extremely embarrassed about it, but very appreciative for the help.
We were all new to the game at some point, do not be embarrassed. It’s hard to learn without asking a few questions and it always takes a little time to get used to something new. If you have any more questions or concerns over something you think is a bug or anything you may find yourself needing help with in the future do not hesitate to ask!
Safe adventures.
:)
I was just looking to find a reason for the issue and see if the cause could be determined. I didn’t recommend your purchasing a kit, just to check the teeth in the preview if you did have one so that the teeth could be ruled out as the cause. If it is your teeth, then perhaps they weren’t protruding through the helm in earlier idle animations when you equipped the gear, but then began protruding during combat stance or another animation.
Was just trying to help pinpoint what a possible cause for it was to see if it was something that required Anet to do something about it or if it was easily explained and corrected without their taking action on it and adding it to their list of things to do. Just wanted to help you out…
The tech support forum isnt really a tech support forum were Anet helps with peoples problems. This is more a tech discussion forum where users discuss and help each other out. I so no problem with it being here tbh.
Contrary to what you may believe, the Tech Support forum is where people who require support of a technical nature go for help from both Anet employees and players alike. Anet Tech Support employees do assist players with technical issues as is evident by actually looking at the threads that exist in the Technical Support forum. So your statement is false.
Also, “Support” is in the title of the forum name. If this topic is not searching for support, but rather to discuss a feature of the game, then it belongs in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum.

The locks being on the GW2 files is natural and how they should be.
To fix your issue, first make sure in the right-click Properties screen for each, make sure that Gw2.dat, Gw2.exe and Gw2.tmp all do not have the ‘Read Only’ attribute box checked.
Then in the properties for your Gw2.exe or your shortcut to the exe, make sure it is selected to be Run As Administrator.
If you still encounter a problem then check your UAC settings and consider turning notifications off completely as this sometimes causes problems of the launcher not progressing to the login portion.
Start Menu > Control Panel > User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings: lower the bar to the bottom
Then try to run the game again.

Issue Title: Profane Gloves Change Skin Tone of Hands
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Item: Profane Gloves (Gem Store Armor)
Description:
As can be seen clearly in the attached comparison screenshot, equipping the Profane Gloves from the Gem Store Armor Set (which only covers the fingers of the hand) causes the visible skin of my hand to take on a much lighter skin tone than the skin tone of the rest of my character.
The result is that it looks like I got a tan while I was wearing a pair of gloves.
The skin tone of my hand should not be turned to a lighter color than it is when not wearing the gloves.
I don’t want to assume your level of experience with playing the game so I’ll ask this for starters.
Are you using your left mouse button or your right mouse button to move your camera and orient your character to the direction you are running in?
Holding the left mouse button and turning only rotates your viewpoint without orienting your character (helps with wanting to look at the scenery while running around without running in the direction you are looking with the camera).
The right mouse button changes the orientation of your character with the camera and is used to navigate the world in combination with your movement keys.
It sounds as if you are trying to direct your character by using the left mouse button instead of the right mouse button.
Does this help you or is your issue much different and not a key/button functionality misunderstanding?

I have noticed this behavior on my mesmer as well, though I’ve seen it off and on randomly for several months. I’ve noticed it happened most often for me while attacking moa, fireflies and drakes just to the east of the starting area in Caledon Forest. I couldn’t find a way to reliably reproduce the behavior though.
When this occurs, the only method I’ve heard to get around it is to guest to another server to complete the tutorial zone.
They look like portions of your charr’s teeth sticking through.
Can try using a Total Makeover Kit (if you have one) to adjust your teeth in the preview screen to see if that is what is sticking through. If it is your teeth, perhaps it is their length that is a bit too long for that helmet or the jaw is at too strong of an angle.
Ah, thank you fod. You’ve now backed up the OP with another report of this happening. This is what I was initially waiting for before responding on the issue with my thoughts as they may not have been relevant to the bug. I was hoping for others to corroborate the situation outlined in the OP before I made any speculations on a possible cause.
They ended up being way off the mark, but I had decided to voice those ideas while I defended myself from the personal attack made upon me. Oh well. I’ve now edited out my incorrect analysis of the issue from my earlier post.
Moving on.
So the issue is just as was outlined in the OP, that Account Bound Nightmare Weapons of the standard variant seem to exist in the loot table for the chests within the new Aetherpath of TA, or at least in the loot table of the first boss chest.
The question waiting for a response from a dev is if these account bound weapons being in the loot tables of those chests is a bug or is it actually intended behavior that was not mentioned in the patch notes.

The hair mesh node glitch was reported HERE also.
I vote Bookahs.
(more seriously (or less seriously), I agree with your suspicions of the cause and I cannot think of any logical reason for the map to not have height layers/floors while in LA, though it has been that way since launch, at least)

If you have time to do it, I really recommend reading the patch notes with each release. Lots of good information on changes is included in these.
Kinda funny you say to read the patch notes then don’t actually read this persons post. He didn’t say he got one of the new Weapons skins he said he got an ACCOUNT BOUND version of a NIGHTMARE weapon. I really think he needs to post a screenshot because at this point I don’t believe it though.
Interesting attack on my post.
I did read their post. In my reply I made no comment regarding their claim to it being “Account Bound” or of the bug they were reporting. My post was a clear response to the latter part of their post where they stated that they had “never heard about dungeon weapons as a drop from their own dungeon”. My response was pointing out to them that they do now for this dungeon with these new skin variants.
Now, I could have responded to their bug report, but I did not have information of others experiencing this issue and the OP did not include a screenshot.
edit
The rest of my post outlined a possible cause for the issue which has now been shown to be incorrect due to the OP’s report being corroborated by fod.

When files and folders are placed onto a removable drive they tend to immediately be given ’Read Only’ attributes.
Now, due to the way the ’Read Only’ attribute for folders is handled by Windows, specifically that Windows ignores that setting being changed through the ’Properties’ window in relation to folders and that setting instead only applies to files within the folder, it is possible that the files in the folder are, indeed, being set to ’Read/Write’ by your un-checking the ’Read Only’ checkbox in their ’Properties’, but the folder itself is marked as ’Read Only’ due to being created on or moved onto the removable drive.
You can try to go from behind the folder and files on the drive through the Command Prompt to ensure that both the game folder and the files within it are, indeed, ’Read/Write’ and not ’Read Only’.
First:
As Espionage mentioned, place the game files (Gw2.dat, Gw2.exe, etc) into a folder on your flash drive called "Guild Wars 2".
ex. If your flash drive is ’F’ then your directory structure would be:
F:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.dat
Then:
Run these two commands from your Windows Command Prompt, replacing ’F’ with your flash drive’s ’Drive Letter’:
attrib -r F:\Guildw~1
attrib -r F:\Guildw~1\*.*
This will force the game folder and all files within it to be marked as being ’Read/Write’ on the flash drive. You should not have to re-download the game files again and the game should be able to update properly when a new build is released as the existing files will be able to be accessed and written to properly.
Do others agree with this scenario I’ve outlined of the folder and files not being writable due to being placed onto a removable drive and thus the game attempts to re-download the whole game again due to not being writable, and that these commands being run may be effective in solving this problem?
(’disable textile’ was un-checked by my editing my post, the commands are displayed properly now)

It appears that the Nightmare Chest Armor has been changed to only permit the hand portion of glove armor to be displayed to prevent clipping between the forearm gauntlet portion of glove armor with the sleeves that hang down on the Nightmare Chest armor. The gloves you are seeing in your second screenshot are only the hand portion of the Acolyte glove armor as anything above the wrist is now hidden.
I think that this was their ‘solution’ to remove the clipping issues of the sleeves on that chest armor with glove armor that had forearm gauntlets. You can even see the sleeves clipping with the upper portion of the gauntlet part of the gloves in your first screenshot.
It’s a very minor clipping issue that did not require the entire forearm portion of glove armor to be hidden to ‘fix’ it.
The same thing is likely to be done to the “Feathered” chest armor with glove armor. The chest has sleeves that flare out and connect at the wrist. Glove armor with gauntlets would be visible up the forearm and would clip with those sleeves.
I think that this is their ‘solution’ to remove the clipping issues of the sleeves on those chest armors with glove armor that had forearm gauntlets.

Is it safe to use a hair styling kit on a sylvari right now? Will she keep her glow?
The wiki doesn’t show the bug as being an issue on the Self-Style Hair Kit, just on the Total Makeover Kit. I can’t find any reports of players having issues of glow disappearing when using the SSHK, only with the TMK.
I think because the TMK includes the option to adjust the glow and the SSHK only offers options for adjusting the character’s hair. I would expect using a SSHK to be alright and not have this issue.
It sounds like a corrupt graphics driver. Try to uninstall your existing drivers, run the manufacturer cleanup utility to remove any traces of the driver, download and install the newest drivers for your GPU/OS.
Or if you need help with getting links to those utilities and drivers:

Appreciate the research, but honestly, why would this issue only persist in Guild Wars 2? While your explanation sounds reasonable and explains a lot, it seems odd that so many players have the issue while having no issues in other games?
It is not only in Guild Wars 2, it is just that players are not pressing the button down in other applications as they do in GW2.
Honestly, I think players push their mouse buttons down harder in GW2 which causes the issue to become apparent. Players also have to hold down the mouse button for longer periods of time for orientation and they would then increase their pressure to maintain activating the button. In other games and applications, players would primarily just press it down once to click it and not hold it down for a long duration of high pressure on the button.
One can reproduce the issue outside of GW2 if they pushed down harder. You can even see the issue presenting itself with your mouse cursor on your Windows desktop; the right-click menu should not appear until you release the right mouse button, if you push down as hard as one does in GW2 (and pushing/sliding to the right at an angle), then the menu pops up while you are still holding the mouse button. This shows that the mouse button did slip off the activation button under the right mouse button while still holding the button down, otherwise the menu would not come up until the mouse button was fully released.
As an example, I have bound my right mouse button in Dead Space 2 to bring my gun and flashlight up, the same behavior exists in that situation also if I press down harder to cause it to slip off/disengage the activation button under the mouse button.

If you don’t like bloom, disable it. Personally, I run bloom on and an external graphics program to enhance and run multiple passes of bloom to really make it intense. It’s all about preference. So, again, if you don’t like it, turn it off.
Also, why did you post this "opinion piece’ in the Tech Support forum. You’re not asking for technical support. Post it in the GW2 Discussion subforum.

I agree, these issues you’ve outlined are of a different nature and stand apart from the cutscene bug that has been hotfixed and separate attention should be given to them.
New patch update:
“Fixed a bug that occasionally prevented players from proceeding to the final cutscene and rewards screen after defeating the Clockheart.”
New patch update:
“Fixed a bug that prevented the Sanctum Sprint activity from starting.”
New patch update:
“Fixed a bug that prevented the Sanctum Sprint activity from starting.”
New patch update:
“Fixed a bug that prevented the corpses of some enemies from decaying”
New patch update:
“Fixed a bug that prevented the corpses of some enemies from decaying”
Did this ever get fixed?
Not sure if the other Assassin’s items are still account bound, but the Drakevenom issue mentioned earlier in the thread is still dropping as account bound as of 2 days ago. Not sure if it had been resolved in today’s patch as very few things that get fixed are ever really included in the patch notes.

As can be seen in this screenshot, the affected hairstyle that Hamfast showed is clearly of a green tint while all the other hairstyles are of the darker blue color of the “Black Sea Dye”.
Obviously something has happened to this hairstyle to make color and texture behave differently from other hairstyles which would also affect the accessory color. Though this does not explain why the squares have turned to the yellow “missing texture” pattern.
That is actually a slightly disturbing image. I hope that gets fixed as the lag could become horrible from bodies not being removed after a while.
Made me think of: “…and the dead shall litter the ground.”
With the addition of the new hairstyles in this patch, has the issue of using a “Total Makeover Kit” setting a Sylvari’s glow to minimum/off finally been fixed?
The wiki only states the bug as existing on the “Total Makeover Kit” and not the “Self-style Hair Kit”.
There is also this statement:
“General Bug Fixes
To prevent unintended graphical anomalies with hairstyles and faces, all sylvari body patterns have been adjusted aesthetically to blend as nicely as possible.”
Now, there are likely to be many Sylvari using the Total Makeover Kit to switch their hairstyle and appearance due to the new styles and these changes to body patterns, I would hope this longstanding issue of a Sylvari’s glow being removed upon using a Total Makeover Kit would have been fixed prior to or along side this new release.
So, again, does this bug still occur?
Order of Venvardis.6073 recently stated that the bug did not occur with a Total Makeover Kit used on a Sylvari. Was this person just lucky that they used a newly received TMK and not an early acquired Kit, or has it actually been fixed across the board with the TMKs?
Ah, thank you Inculpatus and Nalora. I wasn’t sure if it had been fixed based on what I was hearing and it’s unfortunate to now hear that it has not. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
What’s up, Astral. This thread was made yesterday before the new patch came in that include that Sylvari change. I think they were referring to the Tequatl patch from two weeks ago as being the “big update” that introduced the issue.
Pudding, I added your report thread to my Tracker – Living World/Game Update Bugs thread and mentioned that this issue may also be related to another issue.
This issue may also be related to the previously reported issue:
You didn’t really include a description of what you are asking, is it that you are asking if the bangs in the front of the hair style clipping through the mask you are wearing is intended?
Most hairstyles that have elements that go in front of the face, such as this style, will still display even with a mask on and they will protrude through the forehead portion of the mask. Hair will only be removed when the helm is a full head helm that prevents the entire hair style from displaying.
It isn’t ideal behavior, but it does seem to be intended due to customization limitations with the hairstyles and mask models.
Nobody in the other thread in Bugs on this issue seems interested in providing simple information to help figure out what could be causing it for a small amount of players. Seems they are content simply reporting the problem and not really interested in finding a way to fix it.
Anyway.
It seems to not be associated with something on a specific character (armor, runes, sigils, traits, accessories, etc) as players have reported being unable to interact with the scale and tooth on characters of different race, class and gender.
It also does not seem to be related to temporary game files or the local.dat file as players still cannot interact with it even on different computers.
One common setting independent of all of those variables may be the default ‘Interact’ key as being used by those affected.

I’ve heard that this issue of ghosts/mesmer phantasms losing their ghostliness at low Character Model Limit/Quality settings has been corrected. Can anyone confirm this?

Do you have your armor displayed at the time you were comparing them?
One should have a different texture for more defined muscles and abs but with the same body type.
Perhaps the video guide you were following was from an earlier version of the game, or perhaps from during beta. It does appear that the rubble wall has been moved forward in the current version of the game. Perhaps that was not the correct way of getting to the vista and it has been adjusted to block it off to encourage the use of the proper method of attaining the vista.
I’ll see if I can look into it a bit more to see another way of getting to the vista.
edit
Oh! That vista!
Yeah. You have to go through the cave with cave trolls in it down to the right from the vista. This cave leads you right to the vista, though it is guarded by a veteran cave troll. There should also be a rich vain to mine in there as well.

Many others have been discussing the Music Playlist function no longer working. I haven’t checked in on the issue to see what the current status of it is, but are you placing your playlist file into the “Music” folder within the game installation folder or within the “Music” folder in your “Documents/Guild Wars 2” folder? I don’t know which one is now the active one for playlists to function properly. I’ll hit up some of the other threads on the issue and see what the current status of it is if there is any.
Try to launch the game up and switch it to “Windowed” mode in your in-game graphics options.
Then drag the window to your second monitor and switch back to your “Fullscreen” or “Windowed Fullscreen” option that you prefer.
This should save it to always launch on your preferred non-primary monitor in the future.
Regarding the escorts, they’ve been reported as still being around. However, the female voice on the male NPC has not been reported before
We are going to unsticky this thread due to the frequency of these posts. Please feel free to continue updating this thread if these issues persist.
Thank you.
I believe the word that was intended to be used was “infrequency”, and not “frequency”.
I’ve seen many dev responses making this note of the thread being un-stickied with the same copy/paste response stating this. However, the entire comment relays the wrong message as for why the thread is being un-stickied.
Un-stickying this thread due to the frequency of posts would imply the thread was being un-stickied due to it still receiving a consistent and high volume of posts relating to this ongoing issue…which is highly illogical as that would mean that the thread still being stickied was serving its purpose by directing all of the reports on the issue to where they should be reported at, and removing it from sticky-status would cause the reports of this issue to no longer be reported here, where they should be, and that the issue is still an issue.
Now, un-stickying this thread due to “infrequency” of posts would mean that the issue does not seem to be an issue any longer due to the infrequency of new posts on the matter. Infrequent posts on the subject in this thread would warrant it being un-stickied and is logical, as why continue having a thread stickied if the issue it was stickied to address is no longer an issue.

It is an unidentifiable item from your character’s perspective and not unidentifiable due to having not yet been identified with an “Identification Kit” like was available in Guild Wars 1, sadly.
Its only purpose for existence is to be sold as junk to a vendor for some copper.
I’ve made a suggestion topic regarding Back Items that incorporates the Mini Collections request with a Miniature Carrier. The Miniature Carrier could have different skins/appearances in the future as well. Perhaps this could be a way of having some more interesting and functional back item skin/miniature carrier designs in the future.
Concept: Miniature Carrier and Miniature Collection Hero Panel Slots
Miniature Collection Slot
Miniature Carrier Slot
Functionality of the Miniature Carrier with Back Items Display Checkboxes
Checked – Miniature Carrier
Checked – Back Item
Checked – Miniature Carrier
Un-Checked – Back Item
Un-Checked – Miniature Carrier
Checked – Back Item
Of course having neither checked would cause neither to ever display.

Caduceus:
- He’s a most definitely a high ranking member for the White Mantle. Probably a Confessor or Demagogue.
- Bandits are paid by the White Mantle, but only the highest rank bandits know that.
- Centaurs are also stirred by the White Mantle.
- Some day we’ll finally meet the White Mantle again, far to the northwest of the map.White Mantle -> Caduceus wins.
It’s the Ancient Karka, not the Karka Queen.
It’s Lord Faren , not Ferran. You can’t leave the “Lord” out.
It’s “Caudecus”, not “Caduceus”.
Caduceus is the staff Hermes held (Greek mythology).
Caduceus is also a Dungeon Boss in the game “Rift”, and not GW2.

It seems to only be an issue on female Asura where the epaulets for this armor set are not permitted to be visible, as the male Asura can have the epaulets and chest armor of this cultural set visible at the same time.
This issue has also been mentioned in the “Issues with character art, weapons, or armor” sticky thread by other players, though I am not sure if there is any intention to correct this inconsistency in functionality by the devs.
