Charr should have been the main enemy. Undead are boring and repetitive.

And moreover, hypothetic zombie apocalypse situations, your loved one turns into one, will you kill him/her/it?
If that’s not a stupid question, I really don’t know what is.
So you can´t see past the obvious.
It´s the same case for your character. Will he kill things that he may have emotional connection with, but are trying to tear his face off.
But since the concept of logic apparently completely escapes you, i doubt it´s even worth continuing this…
I’m not clear why anyone would choose GW2 for the pve.. It’s like wanting to fly commerical airlines because you like peanuts.
really? And just why does gw2 not have good enough pve content?
Most people having armor with skulls doesn´t really represent amount of armor available because as per usual people want to be so goth and dark that they kitten out bats.
With transmutation any armor skin is essentiatly lvl80, so just pick one you like and go with it.
What i usualy do,
Bind movement to esdf,
give more keys near your fingers than wasd.
If you´re not into condition damage and can do with bit less survivability, go with 20/0/0/20/30 and gear wise mix of clerics and then something that gives power as major.
As for utilities, i personaly like arcane wave, glyph of storms, arcane shield, for solo play.
Also i ususaly take water trait that causes vulnerability with arcane skills if soloing, as you don´t often sit too long in water to justify 20%cd reduction.
I don´t understand how it can be so hard….ele can bloody well face tank couple of normal mobs in cursed shores. I haven´t had any trouble doing Orr solo, only part i had to deliberately team up for was one sp and poi nw from the lyssas temple that is just crowded with mobs.
What i did was just dump my stats to fire and water while levelling, ended up with 30 fire 30 water 10 air. It can be easily improved, 30 fire, 20 water and 20 arcane would make a lot more sense for example.
Full berserkers gear with some vita on accessories, mostly just gained from drops and few parts from earlier karma vendors.
Wielding staff normal sequence for mobs, start in earth, pull 1-6 mobs depending on how easy it´s to make them ball up, cast earth5, glyph of storms, earth 2, swap to fire, fire2, arcane wave, fire 3, dodge forward, fire 4, fire 2 fire 3 and so forth. Most packs are dead or nearly dead after storm stops (for the duration of storms you´re practicaly invincible), bit of kiting and few more lavafonts and flame bursts and voila, collect the loot. Is it a veteran? Just kite a bit more afterwards to finish
If you can´t pull that off then just swap profession. Or just learn to kite effectively on lower level areas and come back after learning how to play ele.
I have esdf for movement.
Mouse scroll press for skill1, mouse thumb buttons for 2/3, w and r for 4/5
q,a,t,y for attunements
< for heal, shift for dodge
I still need to bind utilities (couldn´t be arsed as there is no need in pve for quicker access) and some other but i do have 4,5,6,c,v,b and ctrl left to bind.
Bump,
nobody has opinions? serisouly?
So i´m looking to make myself a somekind of a double hybrid between damage/support and solo/group oriented gear, but i´m not all to clear on how to do it yet.
The idea behind is that i could just go on my merry way playing with the same gear while grinding for legendaries and other kitteno so that i wouldn´t have to use all my karma and gold on armor sets. And also so i could go around in wvwvw and be able to adapt to any situation.
How i would do this is to stack on healing and then on either power or condition damage for the offense part. Finish up with some toughness, while keeping my vitality low so my heals would be more effective on myself. Staff would ofcourse be the weapon.
Basicly i´m toying with few options. What i´m certain is that i´ll split my selection so that i have different sets of accessories and armor.
Rabid + Clerics for a condition damage.
Condition damage would be nice as it gives more flexibility with using weapons other than staff in special occasions, and that in pve it´s really powerful. Bad side is though that i´m not sure how it affects my speed of killing things solo as i´ve this far gone with power heavy gear and build.
Knights + Clerics for Power build
With power focused build i know i can do solo pve without trouble, but how does it fare in wvwvw compared to condition damage, and can i get enough power for it to be effective with the +healing taking away from points in power. Also this would be more limited on other weapon sets. Ah, and the stat distribution on knights set isn´t optimal as power isn´t main (apparently there´s no such thing as power/toughness/anything but vitality gear :/)
I also though about Berserkers + Clerics but i think it leaves me too suspectible to damage.
Question is though which way to go, and will the Clerics part be the accessories or the armor.
Is it enough +healing for effective support if i take clerics accessories only, or maybe with accessories and some form of healing rune set on armor. Or should i go with Clerics armor and then damage accessories and rune set.
Does anyone have educated opinions on this?
Pro tip
Glyph of storms earth attuned
With this you can kill any amount of mobs that you can ball up on a lavafonts aoe.
Also you don´t need to think about build when levelling, i just dumped all i had into fire and water lines and still haven´t bothered to respec after having cleared orr.
It´s fun, that enough?
I’ll agree with the lightning surge one, but the rest are just fine. The reason is that the staff can self-combo like a beast. Eruption has a delay before it erupts, and it’s a blast finisher, so Eruption>Geyser>Arcane Wave is a double blast finisher in a water field- or about a 50% heal. In under 2 seconds. And there are powerful combos in the other elements too.
The animation delay on eruption is fine and like i said even preferrable, what bugs me is the cast time before that.
As it is now in most cases you have to swap to earth for eruption and then cast field on top of it. If we get rid of the casting time and only have the animation delay, we could do it both ways, for example set a healing field first and then do the 2 finishers.
In addition if we introduce ice spike as a blast finishers, we have access to fisnisher other than utility or earth attunement, again making it more flexible as we wouldn´t be forced to switch to earth just for the finisher.
All in all i´d prefer to see the combat remain more flexible, rather than forced to same pattern all the time (set some fields swap to earth for 5, set eruption and swap away for another field)
And saying that staff is a beast of self combo with 1 blast and 2 projectiles(excluding utilities)…..ehm
Fields are plentiful, finishers not so much.
What i want is that the skills that make otherwise fluid combat feel clunky and rigid would get some attention.
Not everything can be refuted that way, since a lot of things are deduced from studying them intently – especially the later discoveries in the personal story regarding their nature. The fear thing, certainly, can be debunked in such a manner since we don’t actually hear Zhaitan say “I’m afraid!” or the like. It just roars whenever something bad happens to its strongest allies – which could be frustration and anger as much as fear.
False info, interpreted wrong as the subject is to alien to comprehend. Flimsy refutal but anyhow.
And then there´s the issue that it can´t be said if it´s Zhaitan himself or just his champions that are in control of situations, as it has a myriad of them.
Actually they did – after the initial light attack on Lion’s Arch, a larger attack force were sent to each of the Orders’ main bases. So it would seem Lion’s Arch wasn’t the target, per say, but Bloodtide Coast, Lornar’s Pass, and Gendarran Fields were. And Claw Island was the biggest obstacle between Orr and there. But indications are also given that Lion’s Arch is on a complete defensive. While no dragon assaulted Lion’s Arch, it’s likely that Zhaitan was gathering minions on Claw Island before a full assault on LA – a lot of minions had to leave Claw Island to then attack the three orders, after all.
Furthermore, immediately after the attack on Claw Island is the light attack on Lion’s Arch, and immediately after that is the attack on the three orders’ HQs. Those story steps are fairly fast paced, it feels like. The only slowness is the gathering allies bit which, during that time is when Zhaitan’s sending his forces to the HQs (they just didn’t reach there yet).
Aguess it depends on storyline but in my version the attack on LA was pretty massive, more so than the subsequent attacks on the orders. And now that you mention the dragon, then yeah, there indeed was another champion on the island, which could´ve organized the attacks on orders.
So basicly…..
….i kinda forgot where i was going with this…
No, it’s not. There was a bit of a controversy because it was incorrectly interpreted as that being the case due to the original concept and idea was Jormag being under a lake, but that was changed during development and it was never said Jormag was under Drakkar Lake. There was a norn NPC in Hoelbrak which falsely mentions this though, but that lake is not big enough for Jormag to fit in, especially under Drakkar who reaches the bottom of it. Jormag has been confirmed to have been hibernating north of the EN map.
Well that reinforces the point that even if a Champion doesn´t use any other means of corruption than jus purely being there and pushing power to other beings, it seems that it indeed Promise of power Sons of svanir are talking about is not literal promise. It indeed gives them more power if they go through corruption, and that is common knowledge so it could verywell be called a promise of power.
Seems i had false info on this, thanks for correcting me. Where was it confirmed though?
First he tried corrupting the area, then he had to fight Glint (during which he turned into a literal sandstorm), then with the lauret on him Snaff entered his mind and was almost corrupted (Zojja snapped Snaff out of his trance, saving him). Snaff re-enters Kralkatorrik’s mind and is proving a minor neusance and Kralkatorrik tries once more to corrupt him mentally, but fails. Given this, he then sends his minions after Snaff specifically (whereas before they were just out to kill those fighting him – e.g., the whole of Destiny’s Edge). Since they can’t get anywhere near Snaff thanks to the rest of Destiny’s Edge, whom the minions are now trying to bypass instead of kill. With that failing, Kralkatorrik starts going after Snaff physically himself.
Also, minions are not an extension of the Elder Dragons’ bodies per say. There is a connection between them, but it appears to be a “shared magic and connected mind” situation. A hive mind and magic scenario with the Elder Dragons being the base/core of it. I view the minions being more of having an internal headset that the Elder Dragon’s constantly issuing orders from, as a comparison.
I´d say all that falls under selfpreservation, it´s not all that elaborate. See threath and attack it, another threath appears, react to it, uncorruptable means kill it, first method inefficient, use another, and then another.
Doesn´t matter if it´s hive mind, connection, or being part of. Dragons have been using minions god knows how many thousands of years, to them minions are like a part of body, naturaly they know how to use them in many different manners.
Isn´t support just that?
Stacking boons on allies, conditions on enemies and keeping other safe by keeping enemies off of their arses.
Healing is an after thought prettymuch, to be dealt when people aren´t in mortal danger.
Also +healing scales pretty bad, so it might not be worth it to go fully into it.
Admittedly I did not know that the other attunements (with staff) were of much use. Still, I am not interested in a ranged support / heal role anyway. I am very good (humility aside) with D/D while soloing and I know how to burst n run. However last night even on trash if I RTL in I get one-shotted or nearly one-shotted even on the easy stuff.
Thank you for the input. It does lead me to believe that this may not be the class for me (for dungeon running anyways).
That leads me to believe that you went there around level 30 and with heavy damage spec?
But yeah, you will not be a front line fighter with ele. You can hold aggro and in that essence “tank” but that´s done through cc.
One way to succeed with D/D dps role is propably to stand on the sidelines and make sure you only attack mobs that have aggroed somebody else already.
That or be reallykittenquick with knockdowns and shields.
You do realise that you did more harm than good by staying mostly in water? You have so much more support than just the heals with staff, and you´re not limited to that, you can aswell do damage while at it.
I hear going with defensive aura/boon juggle builds you can survive quite a bit more than with pure damage appeoach. Also it might mean that you need to adapt another kind of playstyle compared to soloing with D/D, something like get in, burst get out and lose aggro.
Kormir was like
starts a war
gets kidnapped
goes blind
gets rescued by us breaking into the most heavily guarded fort in the world
gets kidnapped AGAIN
gets rescued by us breaking into what is literally hell.
becomes a literal useless npc (she doesnt fight)
steals all the glory, power, and credit for fighting abaddon
Again it´s mechanics, not the actual story.
Kormir starts a war for which she recruits heroes from all around the world, organizes the training and the attack itself, leads said attack succesfuly right until the end when Varesh summons bloody demons to aid her.
After being imprisoned you the hero go around doing random kitten, while others coordinate the survival and regroupping of sunspears. True you help by rescuing more people to do the real work for you. You are prettymuch just a figurehead.
You then get a chance to rescue Kormir, and when you do so she has already gathered enough informationt to form a plan other than run back to istan (thing your character would do).
After he disappears at the monument it´s not like the heroes go after her to rescue her, as far as they are concerned it´s like she´s dead. Heroes just push onwards with the plan kormir had formed, and reach Varesh after which they are cast to realm of torment too.
There we find Kormir, who has formed alliance with the forgotten, has formed small force of scouts and fighters to help you, has gathered information and intelligence on the surrounding realm, has already thought a plan on how to go about attacking abaddon, and proceeds to make that plan happen.
The reason she doesn´t attack obviously because of game mechanics. If she did figth she´d have to be vulnerable to enemies, meaning she could die and be just as much of a pain in thekitten as Rurik in prophecies. (resurrecting npcs is something they figured in Gw:en)
So if you take each occasion she´s in the party with you and assume that she contributed as much as you did, add to that all the kitten she did apart from just fighting, and i can say she did whole lot more than our heroes ever did.
They also said that everything they tell us of the Elder Dragons is of the races’ viewpoint. This came up during an interview where Kralkatorrik was called a she – and a lot of theoretical discussions popped up because of that and the possible connotations. The devs then stepped in and correct themselves, stating that they don’t have genders as the races understand and, I’m not sure if it was at that point or another, that most information on the Elder Dragons that the developers are saying is from the race’s viewpoint so as to avoid spoilers. Though Kralkatorrik was called a “he” by Glint so it’s likely they do have genders (this I bring up to help elaborate on the whole “the interviews match the race’s pre-GW2 plot knowledge”).
Which makes absolute sense, really.
Humen have a need to associate things with gender, as seen in many religions. Even totaly abstract concepts are assigned a gender (ying and yang for example). It might be that genders associated with them are from the races viewpoints too.
If they really always speak from races viewpoint it´s a bit problematic as it can be used to trump pretty much all theories, since races perception can be oh so wrong in so many occsions.
For example we could use that to refute Zhaitan feeling fear like the characters say many times it feels by saying that it´s just them perceiving reactions as fear when they really are something else totaly.
The attack on Lion’s Arch stops because the Pact forces push towards Zhaitan’s doorstep – so he has to divert his forces to Fort Trinity… which fails and they keep pushing further and further into Orr.
Nope, that´s how new attacks won´t happen. The initial attack happens way before the pact is even forged. And after the attack on LA risen still control the claw island, but strange enough they don´t launch another attack before the pact is forged and pushes them away. As if they didn´t have intelligent leader to do so. Might also be because there´s not enough of them to do so.
In GW1, Jormag’s never felt – just Drakkar, a champion of Jormag. However, in Edge of Destiny it is said that Jormag offers power – or rather, at that point it’s more of the norn who became known as the Sons of Svanir turning to Jormag for power. The line about Jormag offering power before corrupting comes from Khrigar Ripaw in the southeast corner of Frostgorge Sound – he’s among the Pact members who’re dealing with the grawl in the area worshiping the Claw of Jormag as a god.
I´ll have to see what that npc has to say. Though i´m still of the mind that the promise of power is more of an abstract thing that Norn themselves have establsihed or again work of a Champion.
It´s also said that Jormag himself slept under that lake too, so it´s open to interpretation which ones in the work there. Also, given that Drakkar is a champion, who have been said to posses more of a traditional kind intelligence, it´s strange that not even it would use more elaborate methods of corruption. Might also be that because they were sleeping they weren´t able to.
In Edge of Destiny, Kralkatorrik heads to Glint who had betrayed him (and he knew this). When Snaff entered his mind, he changed his main target to Snaff specifically. When he was unable to block him out any longer, he sent his minions on him. When that didn’t work, he changed methods once more. It’s more than self-preservation. The self-preservation came in at targetting Snaff, not in the three different means of going after him.
Still could fall under self preservation in my opinion. Minions being extension of dragon himself ofcourse he would utilise them like any other bodypart, like bringing hand up to protect head. I don´t know what the last change of plan was, but even still i could count this under selfpreservation, unless ofcourse it was some really elaborate strategy.
1. The Elder Dragons are dragons. When Snaff invaded Kralkatorik’s mind, when he got past all the rage, chaos and power he encountered under it all the mind of a giant lizard. Thats what he gained control of to force Kralkatorik to the ground.
After having said all that i´m starting to attribute more intelligence on Elder dragons than i previously thought they had, but i still don´t think it´s above the level of dumb as a ettin or actualy even below that. I think it´s too different kind of intelligence to compare to human intelligence.
Lore is fun we could argue allday both bringing valid points but at the end of the day we still wouldn´t have the truth as it can change on a whim of the writers.
Pro pve tip
Gather ball of mobs
Earth glyph of stroms
Stand in the middle of them and nuke down.
Yet developers kept saying through developement that they aren´t intelligent atleast in the sense we understand it.
Zhaitan has many champions who could be doing the brainwork for him, one even being a boss you kill when you defend Lions arch (after which the attack stops).
In gw1 when svanir was corrupted according to Jora they only felt cold and ancient power, not a sentience that persuaded them, just power that Svanir dived into while Jora turned away from it.
Most likely it´s the same case with Sons of svanir, and the promise of power is more of an abastract thing.
I really haven´t read books so i can´t say to which extent it protrays intelligence, but self preservation is very basic need that couses behaviour that can be seen as change of tactics. Also i could be spweing bullkitten on this but that´s what internet is for, eh?
Having mainly played staff from the beginning, i found few things that really irritate me.
Meteor shower
Why does this root us? It´s not terribly good in many situations, and even then i usualy prefer to do something that won´t get me rooted for ages.
Geyser
Casting time? seriously? Neither the healing effect nor the length of the field give a good reason for it.
Lightning surge
Why is this not instant? If it was i´d actualy use this.
With above three fixes the combat would be far more fluid.
Ice spike
How come this is not a blast finisher, it certainly feels like it should be. Plus it would be nice if water had a finisher in itself.
Eruption
Casting time why you be there? Usualy not a probelm as changing attunement basicly get´s rid of it and most of the time i´m doing just that, but if it only had the animation (which is awesome and should be left alone) one could also do combos when attuning to earth as well as when attuning from earth (fields don´t last long enough if you don´t immediately start casting eruption when you swap).
With these two fixes combat would be a bit more flexible and it wouldn´t feel like you´re forced to certain skill chains. Or atleast the would be more of those chains.
Also waterblast healing radius is either really really bugged or far too low…don´t really know which is the case.

Ok, now i´m interested.
How did you end up with that conclusion o_O?

What about us who go playing our class where ever we want not caring that we aren´t 100% efficient in our choice of class while waiting to get bugfixes and some tweaks here and there?
Also, is it wrong playing the parts of the game you like? It certainly sounds like it when you read the OP.
Because Elder dragons are desrcibed as big hungry blobs of magic that only hunger for more magic. They´re like natural disaster as in they don´t have intelligence in the sense we see it, rather the only force that drives them is need to consume more magic.
They create Champions that think like normal creatures would, they do the brainwork in organizing dragons minions in order to consume magic more efficiently.
My favorite quote from asuran progeny:
“I had a pet turtle, but it died in an experiment”
As far as i recall sceptr of orr granted power over things not of this world, and staff of the mists allowed wielder to bend the fabric of reality.
Gameplay wise energy and hp control.
Undead, have souls, not of this world, thus fall under the influence of scepter.
Similiarly titans are created from tortured souls, again not of this world and fall under the influence.
Just a theory ofcourse.
As for a link to zhaitan, i just don´t see any.

Nah I’d rather have the race that’s the sole reason I got the game for.
Sole reason?
Ouch.
Charr are, in my opinion, terrible, and only worthy of our hatred, bullets, steel and offensive magic.
At least with the way the games lore is set out, its likely that the charr, after defeating the dragons, will attack the civilized races and then, be wiped out as the truly civilized races wipe them out.
And at the same time Asura are pretty open about considering themselves a superior race and trying to take over the world.
Also humans would propably do the same if they could…they´ve done it in the past remember.
in Lore
Posted by: Strang.8170
Prophecies Charr were what you described. Then Anet wanted to give them more character and started to prepare them for being playable race in Gwen and to lesser extent in nightfall.
Also “always cling to gods” ?
They took Titans as gods after humans conquered them, because they thought gods were what gave humans the victory. After hacing their god defeated, and with flame legion trying to establish destroyers as gods, the situation developed into interlegion war and cultural revolution with conclusion that the Charr don´t have gods.
I fail to see how that is clinging…
And then the claim to the land…. doesn´t really matter.
Charr are painted as ruthless militaristic race. They felt the land belonged to them, they took it. Reasons they felt it belonged to them doesn´t matter as it´s always wrong from human perspective and same goes the other way around.
Other than that matter you´re right though, undead and the corruption theme going on with the dragons in general is a bit boring. It´s black and white, they´re bad guys, we´re good guys. We fight them because they´ve been corrupted.
Because Ascalon and Kryta are traditionally enemies, not allies. You are again presuming that humanity was in some way unified, when that simply wasn’t the case before. Why would Kryta care about Ascalon at all when Ascalon was never theirs to begin with?
Because judging by the racial appearance of the people, I’d estimate that about 75% to 90% of modern day Krytans are of Ascalonian descent.
They look like it, so it must be like that.
Let´s see:
Situation in GW1 was that human nations had prettymuch been fighting eachother for a goodwhile, or more precisely guild had been. There was no love spared between Kryta and Ascalon.
Ascalonians who came to Kryta were refugees and there wasn´t too many of them, deducing from the size of the settlement they had, and from how it exapanded.
First generation after their arrival there propably wasn´t too much of realtionships between Krytans and Ascalonians, just look at any of the modern conflicts and the refugees they leave or former adversaries (Usa vs indians?)
Kryta at the time Ascalonians arrived was faring well, had strong population and despite civilwar that soon erupted still remained on better grounds than Ascalon.
Refugees after the initial wave that Rurik lead would´ve propably been sacrce since the way was dangerous, and big part of the population willing to leave had already done so.
So how exactly did that smallish group of refugees take over a nation?
Just a note on Norn names:
Many of them aren´t viking names, nor even very old names.
There´s lot´s of contemporary scandinavian names, and few that aren´t actualy even names (spotted Olut and Sima, ale and mead in finnish).
Also worth noting, auras you gain from combos don´t work with powerful auras. All the other traits giving bonuses to auras do work with comboed auras.
Weren´t the margonites just a race of humans as far as we know? (before falling with abaddon that is)
And i haven´t seen any hints towards them having been around the last time dragons were awake. Quite the contrary actualy, there´s one priory researcher saying that 5 races that confronted them last time were Mursaat, Jotun, Seer, Dwarves and Forgotten.
I got the impression that inquest actualy knows of 6 dragons along with priory (or atleast suspects) , all orders know of 5 but majority of population only cares about the one that is the biggest threath at the time.
It´s all still on a pretty flimsy grounds though. few lines here and there. Also crucible of eternity like was already mentioned.
No worries about that, it´s awesome to play…atleast in it´s superpowered state
Not very well worded if he means getting blocked by terrain.
But yeah, corners have always meant trouble with abilities like these in any game….i´m not too hopeful they´ll fix that.
And i´m not sure about fixing getting disabled by other players during the ride either…it still promotes player skill in combat. Having it cancel any existing cc i could support.
And ofcourse there´s the bug that it doesn´t cancel properly after reaching target, that should be fixed.
Shouldn´t get blocked because…….?
Give me a good gameplay reason and i´ll support it.

How is it hard to decide this?
Do you have fun playing?
No? Switch
Yes? Don´t
My personal opinion – if you don’t enjoy kiting, do not play elementalist.
The class is fairly broken at the moment compared to most others – too low damage to make up for the squishy factor.
Knowing what I know now, I’d probably have gone either necro or mesmer at release – but alas I just like the whole elementalist vibe too much to switch now.
So if you don’t have that innate love for the elementalist, you won’t like it in the long run.
My 2 cents.
So why Necro over Ele out of curiosity? I’ve heard of pet issues with it. Thanks much!
Just forget about ele if you don´t like kiting, k?
If kiting was an olympic game it would be as full of eles as 100m sprint is kenyans.
Oh and if you want a real answer, deathshroud (also known as no kiting for however long you can keep it up)
I´d just focus on giving even more synergy between attunements.
(There is synergy, not enough maybe but there is still lots of it)
I wouldn´t go doomsaying all over the forums just because we haven´t had any quick balances.
Undeniably ele is one of the most complicated professions and i think it´s equaly complicated to balance.
Lot´s of forum posters seem to be of the mind that elementalist should be just like other preofessions.
So let´s do a quick new skill, idol of balthazar. Durmand priory members might recognise this, it´s a thing that turns you into human god of rage, murder and asskickery.
Now downgrade this until it´s on the level of let´s say warrior and voila, we can appease everyone who just has to play elementalist but still feels that it should play just like all the other professions
And rest of us can focus on enjoying our game and waiting for bug fixes and minor balancing. Oh, and we get our forums back for discussing things other than balance.
Minor graphical glitch:
Whirlpool loses it´s graphics if any other skills graphical effect is added before casting. (for example, magnetic shield, arcane shield, auras etc.)
So basically elementalist need a version of Hundred Blades or Heartstrike so they can spam buttons 1 and 2 for 90% of pve content?
Yes, apparently
….wait, are you complaining that you´re doing more work than other people or are you complaining that you´re not doing enough work?
clearly he is complaining that he has to hit way more skills (and more time) to kill the same things.
Yet at the same time he´s complaining that all he´s confrontations don´t require enough work, that he does some skill cycles like in wow….and then he proceeds to say that he wants it to be even less and that he wants to be able to press 2 buttons and be done with it…i´m confused
….wait, are you complaining that you´re doing more work than other people or are you complaining that you´re not doing enough work?
which spells are broken other than these? i don’t mean what people see as “broken” balance wise, but obvious bugs, where a spell doesn’t behave to it’s description.
What I don’t like about Elementalist:
- Go superkitten defensive specced or die (literally!)
- Go bleed spec or lol.
- Thou Shall useth D/D for sPvP or go away. That’s a lot of constraints for a class meant to be “sandbox”.
I am not sure if ANET will want (and much less, do it right) to tweak the class to become really a free form stance switcher. It’s not the first “hybrid” class I play that fails and just can’t be fixed.
In fact, I actually stopped playing hybrids in MMOs because they always suck so I went for the purest classes. But mage in GW2 is not pure class, so here I am again: another hybrid, another supposed “free form” class that only has ONE dumb way to be specced or played or it woes.I am not even talking about being underpowered or not. That
can be fixed, straight buffs are just some higher numbers entered in a database. I am talking about the underlying class design, that sadly has born flawed and will stay flawed.Glad I also have a warrior and necro but for one I don’t like facerolling and I am not a melee type (despite my warrior apparently suggests I am an OP melee player! All the 3 buttons of it!) nor I like “warlock” type classes.
Would you mind elaborating on the underlying class design part? i´d like to hear what yor opinions concerning that are.
One thing I noticed with those is that you can get “runes” and “sigils” that can be added to weapons, where do I obtain those? The wiki is pretty useless when it comes to those.
Also what kind of armor goes in the “back” slot? It is the only area that is empty as of now.
drops drops drops…oh and story rewards, and salvage
To OP, it´s not just elementalists going down there, not even guardians can do anything but dodge as best they can…and then die horribly in flames
Say what you want about damage but as a sideline fighter in big events having heavy fire spec with 20%cd reduction, 10% dmg and 30% longer fire fields, that constant lava font does count towards something, if nothing else, atleast there´s neverending burning going on.
Also, when i outlevel content i usualy can´t be bothered to swap because i don´t need to.
Pull mobs to a croner and water 5.
Not feasible most of the time, i know, butkittenentertaining once you do it.
Underwater combat indeed is a bit lackluster (autoattacks especialy) compared to on land combat.
Though again i don´t think staying in the water alone is answer…it is effective but so is doing some attunement dancing, as every attunement has some nice skills.
For example, starting with fire 2 and 3, switching to air, 5 and 2, water 2 and 3 (maybe 4 and 5 too, if necessary)
, earth 5 and 2 if cloe enough, back to fire.
It´s still not nearly as much damage as i´d hope but it´s a lot more fun than just blasting away with water.
Oh, and currently ele with enough time can solo prettymuch any mob (as long as there´s not many of them) due to bug that earth autoattack can shoot at any direction, also directly behind….just swimming away in big circle and auto attacking, sinkin them once in a while, can take down a champion….if you´re patient….very very patient.
Multiple mobs and mobs that pull, stun etc are still impossible though.
