Rich wood nodes are definitely needed, considering the sheer amount you need these days. It’s so much harder getting wood than metal nowadays because there’s a bunch of fixed rich ore nodes around the world.
Just call them a “cluster of X saplings” and have them give the same 10 hits the ore equivalents do, and you’re golden.
It’s also harder because you can only get wood from certain weapons where as metal comes from the rest of the weapons plus most, if not all, heavy armor drops.
Alpine BLs might have there flaws here and there, but they are miles better than the deserted borderlands where you barely found enemies to fight except for an occasional karma training zerg. As a roamer the alpine borderlands are way more fun, because you get more frequent fights and camps are actually fought for and not just flipped back and forth. Most people who want DBL back are probably disappointed karma trainers who have to fight for their caps for the first time in a while.
Desert way better, more incentive for the enemy to cap stuff and for the defenders to defend, in Alpine u not even gonna bother trying to cap t3 hill or bay beaquse the defenders get there so quick and its so easy to defend. When theres no blob fight on alpine its a dead map. In desert map u could havoc and cap stuff with small groups but in Alpine you cant. Bad map is bad. #bringbacksand #makewvwgreatagain
I hear EotM is a great place to pvdoor with no resistance. In fact, I believe that is the primary play mode there.
If viability for a Raid or Frac would be affected due to changes to a class in PvP, then you can alter the Raid or Frac to match the nerfs. Then no one could complain… Except the devs.
How is this even supposed to work?
Any change to PvE will affect everyone and do nothing to address any imbalance caused by nerfs/buffs.
Suppose class A does 20% more condition dps than class B in raids. What is Anet supposed to do to fix this? Make the boss take 20% more damage from class B, and only class B, as compensation?
Off topic, but you bring up flaws of PvE. It’s all about DPS and proper rotation of skills. Boss attacks are non-threatening and engagements are boring. “Strategy” boils down to tacked on “stages” in each boss fight to artificially make combat seem interesting. (or exploits)
Honestly you will still run into the same problem in other games when it comes to picking the “best” healers or tanks. The difference is that most other games start with rigid roles and makes classes to fill them somewhat containing the ripple effect balance changes will have. A Bard in FF14 or a Hunter in WoW only needs to compete with other dps classes, not the entirety of the class roster.

in therms of me having fun while playing?
abysmal.
too much damage , minimal reaction options , it doesnt feel like an mmo to me.
maybe because i grew up playing lineage 2 and arenas in wow after but i bet id like gw1 pvp 100 times more also from the videos i watched.
killing people in two seconds aint my thing.
Gw1 had it’s prob;ems but at least it was fun to watch. Classes were very rigid in their roles and abilities and combat moved at a pace where you could tell what the kitten was happening in front of you.
GW2 pvp is a giant clusterkitten of skill effects that spam too quickly from classes that don’t have any significant role diversity to an uninitiated observer. (Druid being an obvious exception to this though most will come in expecting the healer to do nothing but heal/support)
Show a new viewer a fight between a Reaper and a Tempest and all they are going to see is a pair of mages hitting each other with tons of swirly colors rapidly with the only discernible difference being one is ‘death themed’ and the other is ‘elements themed’.
If GW1 was like chess then GW2 is like taking all the pieces and putting them in the laundry dryer.

There was a thread a while ago about improving Glyph of Unity since it’s pretty lackluster for an elite and only brought in PvE so we can either do a burst heal in CAF or just spam it off cooldown for the seed.
One of the suggestions were to rework it completely so that you share boons to tethered allies in one state, and share conditions to tethered enemies in another state.
Thoughts?
While this would be interesting, I doubt they have a system in place that would make it work like that.
Probably much easier to ask for a significant buff (like reflecting 50% damage) to the primary mode than to ask for something that will require them coding a new way to apply and monitor buff/debuff duration.
I am not talking equal skill here. Any of the skilled roamers know the scenario… fighting three guys, down one but cannot stop long enough to finish them because well two other players trying to kill you. That same scenario is true in small scale outnumbered fights as well.
So?
What about a 1v3 is supposed to be balanced?
No, I mean the players, I know the siege can be destroyed, but the players are able to stand there picking their noses while you nuke or countersiege lol. So make them killable (remove the determined buff).
Make it so that it isn’t risk free for the players to use spawn trebs, but allow them to do it. I think that’d be a fair enough middle ground. Granted I wouldn’t be surprised if people still managed to abuse it lol…..
What would that change? It’s in the spawn. You could kill them in one treb hit every time and they would have a, what, 10 second run back at most?
It’s risk free by the virtue that hey can just run back immediately and can never lose the ground to the enemy because you can’t enter an opponent’s spawn.
Whether or not they are invulnerable is completely irrelevant for the most part.
so that being said. how is a 1v1 duels different, from a player roaming between camps and being forced into a 1v1 fight when a theif or warrior comes out of nowhere and tries to kill you. its literally no different at all
In a forced 1 vs. 1 I would help my teammate. I mean, we are one team. In a duel, I will get flamed for helping (as Josh xt showed).
But the question to you as well: How do you differentiate whether it is a forced 1 vs. 1 or a duel?
why is this a relevant question? when the end result is the same. there’s no point about differentiating either. if people are dueling, it takes up space in the queue for people that wanna join zergs, if people are roaming and randomly forced into 1v1 fights. those people takes up space in the queue for people that wanna join zergs
if a single player isn’t dueling. that player is roaming the map picking off another single player. duel or not
WvW isn’t Zerg vs Zerg. What blows my mind is that people still haven’t figured out after almost 4 years that splitting up the zergs in to smaller groups that go in different directions is WAY more effective. Imagine this, 10 smaller groups of 5 people can take 10 objectives at the same time, where as a 50 man group can only take one objective at a time.
WvW was advertised as a big fights pvp mode and that’s why people flocked to it. Don’t be salty just because the game isn’t some perfectly orchestrated roamer’s paradise where you never have to fight more than 5 people at a time.
When your 5 man group can take a sieged up keep faster than the 50 man group then maybe your logic will pan out…
Completely ignores that mats went up at the update because that’s when a new legendary dropped and that gems probably went up because they released another wing set and every stand alone mini that was in the store was just retired for now and they brought back every one of the baby animals…
please show me in writing, officially stating that wvw is not a place to have duels. people paid money for this game and they have every right to do what they like, that includes dueling in wvw.

plz
I wish people would remember this logic when they make the next “stop interrupting my duels!” thread…
thats the thing though, no dueler/roamer makes there’s threads. its only the karma trainer or zerglings that create such topics
lulwut? People make posts crying about people interrupting their duels all the time.
Like I said before, it is very simple – if you see 2 people fighting 1v1, leave them be. This game is nearly 4 years old, if people don’t understand such a basic concept in WvW, they either shouldn’t be there or should be taught.
I have no problem teaching people.
He still didn’t start the thread, just made a post replying to someone else…. come on dude.
So the attitude become null? People kitten about folks interrupting duels and not honoring some fake “code of honor” constantly. Whether it’s in the form of a fresh thread or simple post is irrelevant.
If you want to pretend “duelers” are some more civilized group that’s your prerogative, just don’t expect me to agree with your faulty logic…
What if we allowed Spawn siege, however, make it so that players around it aren’t invuln? (Though, there is apparently an even deeper location people can place siege, so that one has to go at least)
The siege has always been killable in most instances, it’s just incredibly hard to accomplish.
I believe the east citadel trebs can only be killed from within E tower which is hard enough to take while under constant spawn treb fire.
Even if you manage to kill either side’s trebs, it’s a trivial task to rebuild them and just resume activity since attackers can’t ever hold the areas they’re built in.
No team should ever be allowed to build anything on a spot the other teams can never stand on.

They were pretty OP in GW1. I’d like to see a Tyrannus, Angordon or Ferothrax up against these newer Dinos.
Lets not even start on the Hydra from Crystal Desert…
God, the hydra. Ugh.
I’d love to see an epic fight between GW1 dinos and GW2 saurians, as long as I can watch from a safe distance and not be murdered in the face by them.
Wasn’t there a boss T-Rex in the Charr homelands? I vaguely remember something massively unpleasant there in hard mode and it being large and dino shaped…
There were those Armored Sauruses that had the same model and move set as the triceratopses in Sparkfly. Might be what you are thinking of.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armored_Saurus
The only other thing I can think of is Molotov Rocktail.

So only one of them actually gave you any reason to think they were “bigoted”?
Are we really supposed to lump the other 7 in because they didn’t want to play with you for undisclosed reasons? Talk about wild assumptions…
People are really misunderstanding how this works.
The pet’s aren’t actually killing the mobs themselves, they are simply on guard mode and attack anything that hits the ranger or the pet. This only happens during the crystals and escort events. During which, the pets manage to tag for enough damage to get loot credit from mobs the other active players kill.
Without other people to leach off of, this doesn’t work nearly as well. I’ve often come across dead rangers late at night that got wrecked by the Elite Inquest Assassins that weren’t killed because no active players showed up to do the actual work.
This also then has the added benefit of giving one participation loot as well.
Both events tend to scale mobs that can’t be easily soloed by pets. It’s simply an advanced form of event leaching no different than when people used to hide in the sewers during the LA Scarlet invasion.

:/ anet can’t win with wvw community
before hot many people complained about alpine. post hot many people complained about desert. now we have again complains for alpine
Anet can’t win if you seriously think there is an equal amount of people on both sides.
There isn’t.
The last week or so is the first time since HoT that I’ve actually seen less people in queue for EBG than the BL maps. If that doesn’t tell you how much people would rather play the old maps then I don;t know what could.
I’d suggest only using the broom or carpet to glide only if you are using it, but not make a glider skin.
But they will probably make a 700 gem skin…
They would probably just do what they did with the black wings where previous owners get a free glider and new buyers can get the pack. It wouldn’t even be that pricey given how much cheaper the toys are to the backpacks.
People seem to want these toys to have swiftness by default. After that they’ll ask for something else. Eventually they’ll get it to the point where we have mounts.
But then we’d almost be just like WoW! * le gasp! *
I sure hope they never implement Raids or this game will surely be over…
But seriously, have you ever even played another MMO? Mounts in pretty much every game either prevent combat while on them or disable when you get into combat. Swiftness while on the broom or carpet is functionally no different from the standard MMO mount. I’m not sure what these other mystery features you speak of are.
I’m not speaking of any other features so please don’t state that I’m suggesting something when I am not. Thanks.
Feel free to clarify then.

Do you really think that those small changes to other profession’s stability skills would make guardian obsolete? Or am I just misreading you?
I think even with these changes the wvw guilds and pug groups would still have to rely on guardian as their main stability bringer, but hopefully some would get replaced by engineers and mesmers too.
What does the guardian class offer besides instant AoE stability that other classes don’t already do better?
Might stacking?
Heals on a front line that actually does damage?
AoE Immob with hammer?
AoE swiftness spam?
Giving aoe stab to some other classes wouldn’t suddenly make the Guardian completely redundant. It may be one of their best features but it’s still just one of many. People still brought plenty of guards back when stab stacks evaporated instantly every .05 seconds in a zerg fight.
You could give AoE stab to the useless ‘non-astral’ form of the Druid elite sigil and it’s not like Rangers would suddenly replace guards in a team comp though Ranger might actually be worth a kitten in a zerg for the first time since ever.
I am curious why Crippling Thrust is still only single target?
They seem to have kept all the mechanical functionality of the skills and just changed the range and animations.
They still have the old icons too. We now stab with a sword but it shows a picture of a boot.
They changed the skill but only did about half the work.
Hell, I’m convinced the only reason Kick ever only hit one target was because of the old beta/alpha form where it was supposed to knockback inactive targets. Anet just never bothered to bring it in line with the rest of the chain even after all these years and a completely different skill effect was added.
No.
Nerf the classes that can tank a team of 4 on a node on pvp. (Cough) Ele and engineer. (Cough). Eles are immune to crits, infi condi cleanse, healing more powerful than the druids aka “the first dedicated healer” and nearly 1/2 uptime of projectile denial. Even the new dps testing arena shows that a garbage ele can deal 5x more damage than any tanger/druid build.Druids are in a good place. Bring the classes that are completely and utterly overpowered back in line.
Most optimal dps’s put druid at around 15k solo damage. Unless auramancers are pulling 75k+ this isn’t true though I agree on the disgusting amount of sustain they get as a class that seems like it’s supposed to be a fragile spell caster.
The point where a full Minstrel’s Elementalist is harder to kill than a full Nomads Guardian is when things have gone off the rails…
Here’s a players dps results.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4ft01q/qt_dps_benchmarkstests_for_all_classes/
Elementalist topped the charts at 2-3x ranger/druids dps. But I’ll be honest when this isn’t a very accurate depiction of dps because mesmers have high burst damage, but with terrible sustain.
Ya unfortunately as long as it’s suicide to run full zerk scholars staff ele in pvp, it will never receive the nerf it needs and staff will continue to be a grossly overpowered pve weapon despite being a ranged one as well.
But if you want Viper Gear you may need to level it as I never find it on the AH. Berserker though is quote common.
You need to personally craft all HoT stat combos as they come account bound on acquire, soulbound on use (for exotics) by default.
lol, you can feel the anguish when using the sleep emote.
“Please, kill me…”
It always drops to someone else guys. In this 4 years, only once I got ascended chest and it was from low fractal lvl.
Not a single drop of weapons out there nor rare items such as precursor in these 4 years.
How do you suppose I craft so expensive items such as ascended armour when nothing good drops to me?
How often do you do Teq/TT?
How often do you do fractals? What levels/tiers?
How often do you do the PvP reward tracks?
Some people just have bad luck. Any bell curve is going to have folks on the kitten end as well as the blessed end.
I’ve personally gotten more ascended gear out of WvW rank ups than any other mode (though mostly worthless rings).
I say NO to both. It takes zero effort to obtain laurels. If you want the shards or ascended armor then work for it like everyone else that has.
It takes 0 effort to pay for raid carries as well.
If someone chooses to buy their way through the raids that’s on them at least they were in the raid. The gold they use to pay for it is either farmed (earned) or from gems with real cash. Laurels are from simply logging in.
You get gold and rares showered on you now. Not having money at this point in the game means you spend it quickly, not that you’re “playing incorrectly”.
I say NO to both. It takes zero effort to obtain laurels. If you want the shards or ascended armor then work for it like everyone else that has.

They just need to unlock all the pets in wvw the same way they do in PvP. Just because some of you enjoy this games crappy pve doesn’t mean we should all have to suffer through it.
I can probably count on one hand the amount of pets worth a kitten in WvW and one of them is the one you can only get in WvW…
And 2 of them are HoT exclusive….
So is Druid.
If walking to a static spawn point with minimal enemies and no gimmick gates impeding your path is “too much pve” I can only wonder how you managed to get into WvW in the first place given it’s reliance on pve levels and gear.
No.

Truly ridiculous that everyone wants upgrades to go when they are the only things protecting ebg from flipping all over the place. Even more ridiculous they blame them for their own incompetence ingame.
Accuses others of incompetence, can’t hold SMC without tactivators and stealth water…
I would also think people in T1 would want some sort of gate in terms of experience and results in game vs a donation to anet to qualify someone to play at that level.
Might want to try and actually play on T1 before presuming to know what we want maybe?
There are pets that require going into pvp and wvw zones too.
The only one is the wolf and it’s relatively easy to get in EBG assuming a 24/7 queue isn’t in your way.
I believe there is also a spot to get it in the DBL south of the NE tower, E of garrison.
lol skirmishers have no problem ganking people trying to get across the map to the battle yet demand everyone act like civilized gentlemen when a duel is in progress…
Felt like it took a big hit but the recent update has many feeling that they might be finally understanding where they went wrong.
Many probably left for good after the suspension of the Legendary Development Team but I’d still wager that they are a fairly small group of people.
In general, likely still less than pre-HoT, but right now is probably the highest it’s been in months.
Is that “many people” based on your guild/friends’ list? If it includes people who threatened leaving in the Legendary suspension announce thread… well, I take forum announcements about leaving with a grain of salt.
Well I did say probably and to be perfectly honest, even with all the things they have added since launch, Legendary crafting is still essentially the end game activity in terms of time/effort investment.
There was no small amount of anger at the announcement and Gw2 isn’t really a game where the idea of ‘Sunk-Cost Fallacy’ keeps people logged in long after they stopped having fun like it does in games like WoW.
There are plenty of people who simply had nothing left to do in the game. Tell them the possibility of any new legendary to gun for has been indefinitely suspended and they no longer have a reason to log in outside of new content windows which is probably not going to happen until early Fall at this rate.
I still maintain that it was a relatively small group (compared to total pop) that might have left but it might still enough to notice if one frequents circles of hardcore pve’ers.

Lol if we truly double teamed YB, YB would tick 0-50 PPT for about 8 hours from OCX to end of SEA. It never happened except in your imagination
lol BG is finally paired with a server that knows what map politics is rather than operating on “durr red = dead!!!” and suddenly it’s a 2v1.
Reducing off time mattering in mu’s is obviously more logical answer.
Players contribution being worth less solely due to where they live is logical?
When you are on a server not located in your personal time zone. Yes, yes it is.
I have a feeling that it doesn’t calculate whether you get a bonus harvest until after the third swing (or first plant harvest).
5) Anet pandering to the vocal minority will ruin this game… and bc of said pandering, particularly in this case they have lost my SUBSTANTIAL financial support via the gem store… hope they are happy pleasing the $5 a month spending casuals…
Considering an MMO lives and dies by it’s player base size, I’d say swapping out a whale for a group of small spenders while breaking even is a net gain for the game.
Kind of a hollow threat to be honest…
What’s with this 100% vs 50/50% false analogy? Server B might get stomped during primetime but will likely end up getting more total points because their ppt during off hours will tick high for much longer than server A’s will during primetime’s 2-3 hours.
You want Anet to treat night players fairly? Then stop stacking servers. Spread out so there’s a fair dispersal during said hours and fights based on skill, not PvDoor karma trains.
You guys created the problem, not Anet, nor the general player base…
Logan doesn’t deserve to die. He should marry Jenna, then be kicked by her for being so unnervingly fulsome, then become alcoholic and ill, then just dissapear in silence.
I’m not specially simpathetic to Zojja (I prefer Taimi and Snaff), but she do deserves more screen time.
Uh obviously Logan marries Rytlock.
Do you even headcanon bro?
Not sure why we need both Taimi and Zojja. They’re basically the same stock “arrogant genius” Asura character.
Any self respecting Charr would choose a wall of guns over a wall of stone any day. Walls are for weak, cowardly humans. They can’t even withstand apocalyptic meteor impacts of giant crystals. Why bother…
A fine point, but where exactly is the hole in the wall that you poke your gun out of? Look around the Citadel, and tell me how many places you can see near it’s outer wall that you can actually believably imagine someone defending from.
Charr make their own holes. I was also mostly referring to the idea of using a wall of gun turret placements.
Honestly though, as a society, Charr are a very “die a glorious death” type of people who would only ever really resort to hiding in a fortress if they were on their last legs.
While it could be viewed as poor environmental design, it;s pretty easy to simply see the Charr as a people who would much rather jump in their Charr Cars and those big boxy APC’s and meet an enemy head one, even if it was an unwinnable fight.
There’s at least one NPC in the Black Citadel who gets sentenced to years of degrading behavior before a final exile for fleeing a fight his warband was losing rather than standing and dying by his comrades.
(edited by Substance E.4852)
I’d just be happy if I’d stop hitting a wall of lag half the time when I’m there. It’s the only place in the game that does it to me, and I wish I knew why.
I think there’s superfluous geometry in the sphere that never got removed or simply doesn’t cull properly.
It’s the only city I take noticeable fps hit in and it gets worse if I pan to take in the whole “Imperitor’s Core” visually.
Part of it might also be from the smoke effects which is part of the reason VB runs worse than the other three HoT maps.
Any self respecting Charr would choose a wall of guns over a wall of stone any day. Walls are for weak, cowardly humans. They can’t even withstand apocalyptic meteor impacts of giant crystals. Why bother…
I also want to remind everyone who reads about all those nerfs that i’m NOT talking about the current state of the game, but about a theoretical situation where everyone has less dmg and sustain, less cc and stab, less condis and boons, less … everything. A situation where the need for nerfs is undeniable.
Just in case you want to respond something like “ranger doesn’t need any nerfs”.
So the idea is to discuss a set of hypothetical nerfs to a class after the entire game roster has already gone through a significant set of earlier hypothetical nerfs?
What exactly was the goal here?
