Nerf Balthazar rune, and the burning duration sigil. That’s the true culprit. If you remove the burning duration runes and sigils, the above 37k became something like 20k. The conditions duration runes/sigils/food buff (WvW) are what make condi strong. It’s raw increase in damage now that they all stack.

All my matches so far has pretty good quality. I only had one 4v5, but that’s the same rate I had before the patch. It’s up to the MMR range I guess.

If you play against decent players, you shouldn’t be able to survive a 1v2. If any class can do that fore more than 5m, i would consider it’s OP. The only chance is that you run a full cleric max bunker build.

One With Air is a VERY strong trait. Super Speed gives you max movement speed while in combat, unlike Swiftness.
However, max movement speed in combat is 125%, which is the same with the 25% speed buff. The only benefit of One With Air is that it nullifies the slow effect of Chill/Cripple.

PvP seems fairly balanced, WvW is unbalanced in the aspect that Conditions can be boosted to being just crazy OP. Any class that has access to easy 4+ conditions (Mesmers, Engi’s, Rangers) can just tear you apart in seconds while remaining rather tanky (Dire gear..) It’s rather skewed for solo or small group play. In zergs/raids, Power still seems to be the best way forward.
Yah, I agree that the food buff makes damage/conditions go too crazy in WvW. They should reduce all the +- conditions duration food to max 15%. Conditions stack now, so that’s already 15% raw increase on damage. That’s a lot! For the food on power, none of them has the potential to increase power output by 15%. Right now we have food to increase conditions duration by 40%. That’s too much :O

I can see a lot of people hating the change, but lets be real, if you are dying a lot you are making a lot of mistakes and now you can be greatly punished for making those mistakes.

Mistakes are more costly, and that’s a Good Thing.
Vigor nerfed, so people run into a fight and randomly dodge will find themselves dying quickly. It’s a more active combat now. People have to drop the mentality of “oh, I’ll just take the hit, I’m not gonna die”. Mistakes will be punished, greatly.

Marauder is pretty good, but you need to train yourself a different mindset. It’s not about jumping in to the middle of the fight and stay there anymore. it’s about burst in, then stay for a few seconds, and run out of AoE. It’s a very decent +1 build.

You cannot “adapt” against a build that can take down a full bunker warrior in less time than it takes to press a stun breaker to begin reacting at all.
I hardly can take your argument seriously when you said you can take down a full bunker warriors in less time to press a stun breaker. Let’s give you some leeway and say it takes you 3s to press the stun break button. Now, give me a build that can kill a bunker warrior in 3s.

For a game with 10 base skills and so many factors, and maps filled with huge open spaces and barely any cover, less than 3 seconds for a single character to take down another is too much.
If you can’t even get yourself over the full berserker mindset, then don’t expect people to give you sympathy for your die-in-3-secs problem. You shouldn’t die to another player within 3s. If it’s a big 5v5 teamfight, then use position. Don’t just jump into the middle of the combat and complains you die in 3s.
Look at games like LoL/Dota, if you jump into an 1v3 ambush, expect to die instantly. The age of bunker poking each other for 15 minutes is gone, and I’m glad that it’s gone. The new combat is more fluid and more fun.

You seem to need advice. How about:
- put on a different amulet than Berzerker? I heard Marauder is working pretty well
- specs on conditions cleanse/more defense. The only people I saw that got one shot are the ones that played the old way, without speccing for defense.
Time has changed. Without defensive traits, you won’t survive long. You can take the risk, and that’s great. But don’t complain that you got one shot. Long is gone the day people can 1v2, nor surviving well with just a Berserker amulet
Overall, this patch is awesome in term of balance!

+1 I love this patch so much! Fluid combat, and fun gameplay. No more two bunkers poking at each other for 15 minutes. This is fast pace gameplay.

Current cele ele has like close to 800 healing and 536 toughness, after patch cele ele will have 560 healing and 560 toughness, where is the buff?Also current cele ele has 17k+ HP, after patch it’ll have little more than 16k HP, no boon duration, condi dmg has the same deal as toughness.
@Morwath is right, cele will gain no buffs to defense but rather in offense, by contrast the nerfs will come for their defense and these nerfs will be tough
Let’s separate cele Engi/Warrior and cele Ele.
For Cele Engi/Warrior, they have enough defense, so sacrificing just a little bit for more offense is a buff for them.
For Cele Ele, their main survival is dodge and heal. Dogde Vigor got nerfed. Now both vitality and healing got nerfed with the new cele amulet. They don’t have the old sustain anymore.
Make sure you spell out what cele class you’re talking about, either Engi/Warrior or Ele. Just like when you talk about Zerker class, spell out Mesmer/Thief or zerker Necro.

Yup, if you want to support Warrior (currently) and Engi (after the 6/23 patch) will be the best. Warrior using the build above. Engi will have a ton of water fields and AoE blast heal.

Thief is very strong next patch, due to massive buffs in stealth/crit, and the ability to take multiple OP traits together (panic strike/shadow arts). It’s widely regarded that the top spot will be Engi, followed by Mesmer/Thief.

They already told us they will nerf it 10%. I would hold off on any gear completion for now, and just save the mats. As long as you have the mats, completing it should be easy

The gems approach is the best approach we can push for right now. It’s good for existing players who don’t have a character slot, they can just buy it. It’s good for existing players that have an empty slot already, they effectively get the xpac for $30. It’s good for ANet; they don’t need to deal with the price reducing/refund nightmare. They keep the existing players happy. They keep the new players happy (xpac comes with free core game!).
It’s basically a win-win-win-win solution for everyone.
We should push for this instead of complaining/ranting. The solution is right here.

The only xpac should be priced at $30. However, they cant really change the price now since it will create a logistics disaster of refund and other things.
The best option is this:
- If you are a new player, you will receive the base game for free, with the $50 purchase
- If you are an existing player, you will receive 1600 gems, which you can use to buy character slot.

I actually feel like I’m getting buffed with my build.
0/0/6/6/6 will give me higher protection update. Frost Aura as Staff will be very welcome. Buffs to Ether Renewal which will now give Vigor and Regeneration. EA dodge roll heal unnerfed (big thing there). Elemental Contingency for free when I didn’t have it in my build before? Blasting Staff is now free and clearing up another spot? Extra damage reduction from Earth’s minors and now I can get Evasive Arcana, Water Swap Heal, AND Rock Solid + Ether Renewal combo? This sounds great.
It’s because you play Bunker staff. I played it for so long I’m actually kind of sick of it. I’m not saying you’re playing it wrong or anything. I just wish that Berserker Staff Ele becomes more viable in PvP. It’s more fun, and more active.
Right now the Bunker staff is like “alright, you can’t kill me, I can’t kill you, let’s run around on the point, slowly draining each other”. It’s also very boring to the audience. Nothing for the shoutcasters to tell either.

I already have 8 classes level 80. I’m not a true multi classes since I don’t play Necro. Nevertheless, I think I’ll play Engi/Mesmer for the first 1-2 weeks to enjoy the OPness before they get nerfed. Then I’ll come back to Ele, but I’ll be playing maybe D/F. Staff cast time/projectile speed are too slow that it won’t be much viable except for a healbot, which I got bored.
Staff needs buff for cast time/projectile speed to be good for any role that’s not a bunker in PvP. Currently, staff must play bunker/cele because it can’t react much to the enemy. Therefore it is forced to play bunker to heal back. It’s boring, and slow.

Biggest winners:
1. Thief – they get executioner (or improv) + panic strike, plus all of shadow arts (with -25% damage while stealthed), and still have so many mechanics that lack counterplay. Yes, some of their traits didn’t individually get buffed as much as other class’s, but the change in the system favors them. Also, they received the strongest buffs in the places they were ALREADY strongest…making it a compounding addition.
2. Engineer – Engineer got some incredibly OP gifts all over the place, and there are clearly going to be some broken stuff that comes out of this. They even might get a zerker spec that has a real shot b/c the might be able to survive thief (I originally said they hard-countered thief, but the combo of stealth, instant ports, blinds, and tons of evades prevents anything from truly making them irrelevant – they just go to another point and fulfill the burst role far better than another spec ever could).
Got some REALLY strong stuff relative to others:
3. Mesmer – got an insane amount of buffs to damage, and great survival options. Have strong instant-cast abilities that can be made stronger, and enough “unfair” mechanics to maybe compete. However, #1 on this list probably still makes them a fringe pick taken mostly for portal. Maybe that “illusionary defender” trait, or blind on shatter, can mitigate enough damage to make it more even.
4. Ranger – While #1 will still keep them out of the meta high level, they got even MORE ways to do a TON of burst damage from 1800 range, which will lead to much QQ. They also got some very strong condi options, but there is so much power-creep, teams will still be running mega-cleanse builds that just keep everyone clear.
5. Warrior – These guys got some super-broken stuff (have you seen berserker’s power?) and also a buffed shoutbow that now has spiked armor, more stunbreaks, and MORE cleanse. They have enough “very strong” traits all over the place they might even be able to put together another build near that same tier.
Got some good options that supplement current builds, depends on meta:
6. Ele – Ele got some great tools from their traits, and should stay very strong bruisers with d/x running arcana/water/X. There might be some other builds that can play on the fringes of the meta, but it will depend very much on how gear load-outs and amulets change. I am sad to see that no weapon/utilities were really changed, and thus pvp will stay a status-quo on that front (d/x brawlers, s/x burst only, staff tanky support)
7. Guardians – Got some VERY strong damage buffs, including smiter’s boon, which adds a LOT more sustain, condi cleanse, AND burst all at the same time. I’m not sure if bunker guard will be able to compete, but you might see burning guards in mid-tier that continue to just let lots of blocks + passive burns do their thing. Not the most buffs, could end up OP, depends on how the meta shakes up…
Not very exciting at all:
8. Necro – poor necro. They didn’t get much interesting, but MM seems like it will be very strong in mid-tier pvp once again (Anet always HAS to keep 1 AI spec in the fold >:( ). Still relies a lot on procs, and just dont’ seem to have the insane survival options other classes have. Perhaps things will shift towards a condi meta and necros can become a king. While I am not an expert necro, while reading the patch notes, there weren’t many instances where I thought “well that is terrifying/potentially game-breaking” like I thought with many other classes.
+1 this is the feeling I have when I read the notes too, although I would put Engi over Thief for the top spot.

all you need to do is to stack toughness and healing power as much as possible
People will just ignore you with that water auto attack. Ele water auto attack can’t even kill an afk shoutbow after 5 minutes.

Ele actually doesn’t receive that many buffs.
- Evasive Arcana and Elementals Attunements have always been selected together. Not a huge change
- 10s Attunements cool down: if you go max Arcana, you will have it anyway
- No more 30% Boons duration
- Geomancy defend nerfed from 20% to 10%
- Signet builds nerfed across the board
- Fresh Air build get damage nerfed
We have traits shuffling here and there, but nothing big like a new F5, cool down reduction across the board, anti-thief/Mesmer Lock On..
My list actually is
1- Engineer
2- Mesmer
3- Thief
4- Ranger
5- Elementalist
6- Guardian
7- Warrior
8- Necromancer

- Our kitten Elites
- Some of our useless weapon skills (please help contribute to the thread in my signature and let me devs know!)
- Cantrips are still the best. Arcane/Glyphs/Signet/Conjure are very far behind.
- Bugs: e.g. fire aura not working
It matters because they buffed something to give us an illusion of getting a but, while fresh air won’t gain much from this. On the other hand, it’s a stupid buff that promotes spamming instant kitten, it’s that simple.
And you know instead of buffing this they could have buffed scepter, so easy.
Yes, I agree that people can Spam FA a lot now. I’d love to play an Ele that spam FA though, since they will be left in Air attunement with all other attunements on cool down haha. That’s a dead ele in my opinion.
FA damage gets nerfed hard with all the damage modifiers in Air gonr/inaccessible. I’m not worry about FA killing me even with 3 quick Air swap. Their Air #2 won’t be off cool down if they try to do it fast, which means they only have the swap damage anyway.

Unlike Engis mesmers needed some buffs to stay in line vs thiefs. I still dont see why engis are complaining they are getting some really strong buff and yet complain of the few tweaks they got.
No. Mes dindt needed any buffs. He was already strong. Thief needed a nerf as he push out all zerk builds. Instead………lets say the faceroll getting real.

Mesmer was never able to wreck every other zerker class to begin with. Medi guard, fresh air ele and GS warriors all have either upper hand or roughly equal with mesmers. The only reason teams take mesmer is because of portal not because it trashes all other zerker spec.

A fresh air ele can destroy a mesmer faster than a thief can IF he gets the upper hand in the fight.

- Buff: No more icd; however, it’s not a real buff, since you still can do max 3 air swap in 10s anyway (the other 3 attunements have 10s cool down)
Overall, I expect Mesmer to have a much easier time vs Fresh Air

I don’t understand the people complaining about FA without icd. You can swap Air max 3 times per 10s anyway, since you only have 3 other attunements, which have 10s cool down.
After doing that, you will have a dead ele with everything on cool down.
