Hi, I’m looking to coming back to WvW again for HoT. I used to play WvW exclusively 2 years ago. What are some good guilds in FA that I should look into?
A few things about me:
- Play mostly on the weekends (gotta work, lol)
- I have all classes 80, but mostly play Ele in WvW.
- I like raiding with a good commander, portal/veil/split and stuffs, not just charging into the zerg.
A few things I’m looking for:
- A guild with good tactical commanders. I don’t hope to zerg around, but if it’s the best I can get them oh well :P
- Do some guild missions and plan to work on a guild hall

On Marauder, the Air Overload does less damage than a Mesmer Shatter burst. I have a hard time believing the theory crafting that you can Lighting Flash in and watch the opponents die. A warrior for sure will survive your Overload. But without Lightning Flash to get out, the Marauder Ele is already dead. Misform and Obsidian Flesh only delay the fate a few seconds.

If doing a full hard core no damage at all tank you could do staff clerics or nomad and camp water with soothing mist triat water 1 spam with signet of regen and practically afk save for having to dodge occasionally
+1 Staff Water is a much better tank.

What people fail to realize is that the other 2 light armored classes, cele signet necro and shatter Mesmer, beat dd eles.
Cele nec is a 50/50 matchup for DD, and even then the nec can only kill the ele if the ele wants to die – he can just disengage anytime and the nec can’t chase him down, then give the ele a couple of seconds, he’ll reset and come back, after a while the ele shall outsustain the nec.
And there is a solid 1 out of 10 chance that a shatter mes can beat an equally skilled DD ele – and then, again, the ele can just run away with RTL/FGS/LF, reset, and will lose to this tactic faster than a nec.
See, I totally predicted it! Even after Ele sustain gets nerfed, you will switch to complain about Ele mobility! You just can’t stop QQing.
You talked about the Ele runs away from a Mesmer, like a Mesmer lack stealth/blink to disengage. Between Ele and Mesmer, Mesmer has a lot more tools to disengage with lower cooldown than that 40s RTL. Very cute lol.

I think people overate the Boons Ele provides.
Remember, this is a 10 man Raid. Any semi competent group that randomly blast will have 25 stacks might, perma fury, perma regen. There is not that much value of adding an Ele unless it’s a glass staff.

Link to official statement? Thought they were only reducing the drops gold you get from doing actual dungeons since farming dungeons is too rewarding atm.
They also mentioned reducing the drop rate of things like Thick Leather Section to increase scarcity. Look at the jump in price of that on the trading post.
And? How does this affect reward tracks? All it means is less drop rate of an item that doesn’t sell for much anyway.
The economy will change. Let me break it down for you.
Let’s assume that you open 10 chests and get 100 Green for simplicity.
Before the drop rate nerf, you can convert that gears to, let’s say 100 Thick Leather Section. After the drop rate nerf, it would be 50.
Regardless, the price will jump, to let’s say 1 silver due to lower supply and more demand (more things to craft)
If you open it now, you will earn a good profit since you get more of those “currently cheap” mats which is about to raise in price.
Of course, this post made a lot of assumption, so don’t trust it with your life

Most of the stuff that happens in tourneys don’t apply to the matches I play. Ranked Solo Q.

Don’t you think a game should be balanced based on what people can do with a build, and not around what people can’t? Yeah sure some people on these forums can’t even play DD ele right, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be nerfed.
So, Nos had consistently won most of his 1v1 since the time Necro was considered the bottom class. With your philosophy, we should balance based on what people can do with the class. That mean we shouldn’t have buffed my Necro at all? In fact, it should have been nerfed?

Notice the plural please. Don’t balance the game around 1 guy, but around the competitive scene and last time I checked Conquest wasn’t only about 1v1s.

Hah, now you try to shift the argument in to semantics. Fine, so how much “plural” is enough for your argument? You got to decide that right? 50%? 80%? 20% population?
If you now decided to argue based on the population, then stop citing Phantaram and Wakkey for “ele too strong”. On one hand, arguing using what the people “can” do with Ele as a whole, and on the other hand ask for nerf using the number of Ele in high level tournament; that’s a shameful act that doesn’t benefit the balance of this game. You just try to cherry pick data to fit your confirmation bias.
If you think Ele has too much sustain, get your Fire Cele Ele in and duel with my Mesmer. Let’s see how much sustain you have.
Reviewed the list of threads cakeonroof posted. You and Saiyan were the biggest forum warriors claiming Ele were too strong because of burning. Now that Ele burning was needed, you switched to ask for healing nerfed. I’m pretty sure after that you will continue to ask for mobility nerf too, since you don’t seem to be able to deal with Ele no matter how easy it is to deal with them.

WoodenPotatoes tried it for 12 hours, ended up never finished the boss. All the groups that finished the boss, none of them have a Tempest. Other classes are better at healing than we are. If you really want to do Raid, best to just bring your classic staff for dps, or D/D for healing (surprisingly heals/protection better than Tempest)

I agree with Water Overload final burst should also revive downed allies. It’s not op and sounds balanced. It takes ~10s from the time you see a downed ally to switch to water and complete the Overload. You can manually revive an ally in less than 5s. It adds some niche support role for Tempest.

I realy like the idea .
1° It will help people watching streams to understand the dangerosity of some conditions.
2° it will help players who currently spam they’r condition removal to get rid of 3 bleed stacks that they are better to wait to have more condition presure on them before removing the DOT.
3° It will help condition classes to see if they have to presure more or if they can change their targets wile the dot is doing his damage.
4° It will help support classes to know when they have to remove conditions on their team mates.Problem how do you make that work for tourment and confusion (Just grey the base degen ?)
+1, the best part about this is that it makes the stream a lot more understandable, and thus increase viewership.

Uhm… pedantic, so almost all the FPS Esport games should be considered no skill.
In fact, if people can kill another one in less than 10s, it should be no skill too, right?
In GW2: A thief or a Mesmer (Pre nerf) stays hidden and when someone shows up they initiate a well practiced a well trained face plant on the keyboard and !!! WHACK !!! your oponent is dead. That is no skill.
It seems to me what you’re opposed is bursts from stealth, which I wholeheartedly agree. However, that’s not the fault of Power meta. Nerf the stealth bursts, not Power meta.
If two players run into each other and fight for 60s without anyone dying, that’s pretty stale. Imagine two heroes in League of Legends fighting for 60s without dying, people gonna switch off the stream.
Time to kill for a 1v1 should be max 60s. For a 2v1 should be max 30s. For a 3v1 should be max 10s (basically pops all the invul/dodges and die instantly after that). Sustain for all classes need to be nerfed.

I disagree with most people in this thread. I have over 500 transmutation charges. I change my armor look sometimes, but nowhere near enough times to do more than slow the constant gain of them. Tomes are at least something I can make money off of, so with the choice of replacing some transmutation charges or tomes with the new thing, I’d gladly replace the transmutation charges.
Give them to me.
I need more of those. I’ll trade you those for my tomes of knowledge.
If I could sell you mine, I’d sell them all.
I think ANet should make it a chest that people can select the reward between Tomes/Charges/Shard.

Cantrips don’t need the Might back. If anything, Cantrips should get more nerfs so other utilities can see the light of the day. Where are the Signet/Glyphs Elementalists? They are totally overshadowed by Cantrips. As much as I love Cantrips, we should request buffs for other utilities instead.

Funny, since I the June meta was the one people loved the most. The return back to Bunker/Condi is terrible.

Hi all,
When the June patch first went live, we had a lot of fun with fast Power build. After a series of Power nerfs, and sustain buffs, now we’re back to the boring Bunker/Condi meta again.
It’s pretty sad. Time to Kill is too long. Please give us back the fun power meta!

I remember Glaphen when he was playing around top 50-25 before the new queue system. He’s actually a very good player. People may doubt his Cleric thief, but it’s actually very strong. It has the damage of about 70% of a Zerker thief, but a sustain of a bunker Guardian.
It took a lot of effort to kill him. Most of the time I saw people having trouble because they didn’t expect a thief running around with shortbow to have that kind of sustain. Also, don’t say that his opponents were bad. We were matched against the top 100 at that time.

Just to put it in perspective. In PvE you can get 10g per hour. Putting in 150h and you get 1500g.
They will need multiple keys per track just to make it 50% effective as PvE farming. I don’t think anyone requesting PvP to be as rewarding as PvE, but at least make it 25% as rewarding as PvE.

Pops Arcane Shield and laugh at your opponents wasting their CCs for a second? Why not pop an Armor of Earth and laugh at them wasting their CC for 8 seconds and get a bunch of boons in the process?

Reaper sustain needs attention
Everything else feels balanced
- Scrapper sustain is too high.
- Berserker is a one trick pony with killshot
- Reaper/Chronomancer damage is way to high for its sustain.
- Tempest healing should be nerfed, and Tempest damage should be buffed. It’s a Tempest Overload, and it deals less damage than Warrior auto attacks. That’s very sad.

Tempest damage must be increased a bit more, or we should tweak the following:
- Harmonious Conduit: After Overload, damage increased by 10% for 20s
It gives people a reason to Overload and try to pull the Overload through. - Unstable Conduit: Grant an Aura at the start of casting Overload
It makes Aura share builds a bit more viable. - Shock and After Shock: Also break stun
We need more on demand stun break for Tempest, since it doesn’t have much access to Stability. This skill is a great candidate, and it doesn’t sound OP either if we make it a stun break. - Eye of the Storm: Grant a Shock Aura
Much needed. Since it only break stun, it’s pretty weak for its cooldown. - Overload Water: Increase base healing by 50% and reduce healing scale by 50%.
We don’t want to create immortal Cleric Tempest. On the other hand, Zerker Tempest is pretty weak and needs better access for healing. - Lightning Orb: Make the orb follows the Ele instead of moving in a line. Reduce cast time to 1/4s
The current version of the Orb is terrible with the damage. If it has damage increased by 50% it’s still not OP. If ANet don’t want to do that, then they should make it follows the Ele instead of moving in a straight line

The Overload Water, on a Cele amulet, heals for ~500 per second. That’s the same amount with a Warrior after adrenaline heals, without the armor. During that 4s, you lock yourself out of dodge and other defensive skills.
We need higher base healing for Overload Water, and lower healing scale. The one who needs it the most is not Bunker Tempest, but Zerker Tempest. Increase base heal by 50% and reduce healing scale by 50%.

We have too many Aura related traits spread everywhere. They need to merge those traits and introduce new traits for Conjure/Glyph/Signet/Arcane.

If you go damage, go all the way. Zerker+scholar. I’m crazy. I took all damage modifiers. Also, you missed the part where I said I have a playstyle. I wait for a fight to get underway, precharge air- run to the middle of where everyone is fighting right before it procs and then its done. Fire tornado or God chair on any downed players so we can continue fighting the upped players.
Thieves and mesmers (on the other team) must LOVE you! I know I would love someone with a big arrow pointing on their head that says “please kill me”
Ele already had a suicidal dps spec that doesn’t work b/c it lacks survival mechanisms other than healing a lot. Tempest doesn’t change that.
+1, if I want to play full DPS from range, a staff Ele is just much better than a Tempest since I don’t have to jump into melee range just to deal the Overload damage. A Meteors Shower pumps out greater pressure, and doesn’t lock me out of the attunement. On top of that, I can also provide the team with more CC.

I got mocked too
Despite wearing Marauder amulet and traited for damage, Tempest deals pitiful damage. With a lot of elite specs being bunkers, I just couldn’t kill any decent player.
On paper, the skills sound impressive: with one click on Overload, you can deal 10k damage with a Zerker amulet! Isn’t it impressive?
However, in real games it’s brought down by animation and cast time. The whole thing spans through 4s cast and 1s animation, making it only 2k damage per second, which is weaker than a warrior axe auto attack.
I like the animation, but that makes our skills very clunky and is only suitable for PvE. Even then, the dps is very low so we might need to switch back to staff for PvE/Raids anyway.

This is what I learned from your post:
- you wait for the fight to get underway, with your team 4v5
- you use overload on downed players
Conclusion:
- you basically wait to be carried by your team. They need to win a 4v5 to produce a downed player so you can overload on.
I’m not sure how that’s a good playstyle for Tempest? Isn’t that just mean dps Tempest is bad?

Hah, funny, exactly the same build I’m using except I take warhorn instead of focus. It deals pitiful damage though. I don’t think competent people would die to that build.

I spent a few hours on this spec and can’t find anything that viable. Even with a Zerker amulet it deals pitiful damage, about 1500 damage per second. A bunker burn build can deal more than that, and a zerker warrior can deal 3k dps easily.
Does anyone know a good Tempest spec?

You can build an immortal Tempest for Ele. But beside that, you won’t be able to build any Zerker Tempest build. Even with Marauder, your damage can barely break a Warrior with Healing Signet + Regen. The cast time is just too long, and it brings down the DPS since you can only cast a few spells.
Water/Arcana/Tempest with Monk rune can be a good escort for Stronghold (and clutch heal 20% of lord HP. Still, that role can be fulfilled better with a Guardian/Druid. Guardian can heal lord to full.
Nevertheless, the most viable Tempest build would be a full total bunker/healer.

I rather have personal score like this:
- Assist a kill: 3 points
- Stomp or last hit downed enemies: 10 points
- Rez a teammate (everyone who contributed to the rez): 5 points
- Every 1000 damage dealt to enemies: 1 point
- Every 1000 damage taken: 1 point
