I can confirm, it goes back to it’s original state if you left her alone and let her regen back.

you dont have to let her regain her health.

bosses scaling is active. it’s up almost instantly, when someone is range, and goes down once their out of range.
The only thing that doesnt scale instantly is a currently spawned turret, that will stay at whatever level it spawned.

This scaling is the same in openworld pve btw, champs.. it’s just the mechanics and slightly larger health pool that make the scaling much more obvious in blitz.

Sacrifice 50% LF to summon a Wall of Bones, which blocks attacks and projectile spells for 3 seconds in the target area of 180 radius.

Why would you sacrifice something that can ‘tank’ an attack..to block an attack..thereby still tanking it?
maybe 25% would be a better number.. 50% and by the time its down, you’ll have no lf(due to it slowly dropping while you’re in it).


necro is quite appealing in pvp and wvw.

We need to find ways of making it more appealing in pve.
maybe make bleed for might, to stack might on party members? (stacking 7 bleeds on you .. the original 2, +1 per party member).

Projectile block would be perfect to make it more appealing in pve. I assume you are primarily a pvp/wvw player if you consider tanking with DS just as good as a projectile block.

Pro tip: projectile block is vastly superior in over 60% of encounters.

ypur block is solo though, and would not be more useful than a guard, to sacrifice 50% of LF for a block around.. which you just said block no mention of prejectiles.(I assumed like a 360 warhorn skill)

It would only be useful if it circled the party… but even then, pve would prefer reflects, to send those projectiles back. So, yeah just having a block, wouldnt be more appealing.

A group block where we can still attack through..maybe.. but if you’re idea is for projectiles. reflects are better, which just keeps us in a poor place in pve.

I mostly play pve ….

Hmm… Well, I haven’t picked up a staff on my power necro for ages now, but… I have no real issues gaining life force.
And from what I remember, Soul Marks wasn’t that helpful either. Sure, it’s nice but I don’t really need another LF source.

I dont use staff in pvp ever. (being mostly a pve player, and staff is useless, it’s hassle for me to play with the different traits than the ones I’m best with.)
I use DS alot, axe is pretty good for life force, than theres spectral skills<3.
Dont cut our deathshroud in half! .. 2 hits from a war and it’d be gone..never mind trying to using any DS skills.

Have you tried running a fractal with a bunch of necros/bowbear rangers instead of warrior/guardian/elementalists/mesmers?… its a torture, even if the necros aren’t bad, it takes a million years to kill anything.

As someone who has run fracs with 4 necros & 1 ranger(not bearbow). Going through dredge was one of the smoothest runs ever.

Was a quicker run than many pugs I’ve been in.

give me 4 power necros over eles who keep going down ANY day. And necros oover wars who think they know everything and are the only class worth playing.

doesnt mean we cant ask and point out the lack of stomping in ds can be detrimental to our builds.

if we dont ask for something, we certainly wont get. if we do ask..they may…actually.look.into.necros. (hopeful much, probably )

I hate that they treat DS as if its this overpowered thing. I get not being able to stomp in plague. you’re a ball of energy afterall. Its like ele stomping in mist. they cant.

but why not DS? …its not like its a few minutes of super strength, you’re still vulnerable to blocks/conditions etc…

It was a thread about actual numbers with active dev participation, the kind of thing that could have allowed us to move from a blind discussion based on impressions to delimit the issues and provide proper feedback based on data.

I hoped the thread would stick around, especially when the dev asked “what kind of scaling would you like to see”. Such a shame that they’re forced to keep quiet…

Question on the bird seed. I’ve seen instructions on the forum to throw it AT the boss and AWAY from the boss. Which is it? And why?

Simple answer as to why that troll was a PITA…

It got scaled up by passing players before you got to it.

Nothing scales back down after it gets scaled up. If someone tries to solo a champ when it pops and they die, sometimes the player abandons it. now imagine 30 players doing this while not knowing that someone else tried soloing it and it just gets harder and harder to solo.

You just get a champ that has been scaled to 30-50 players and it likely will take about 20+ players to take it down so it can respawn back to its normal champ scaling before a bunch of players try to solo and abandon it. Or when 100+ players over the course of time just run by it and scale it up.

Wrong.
They scale back down once the person is about 1800 range from them.

I’ve seen huge blobs defeating a boss on gold reward time right after activation, which shouldn’t happen if the events oversclaed that much.

It’s not a myth.

Yes, you can see a blob beat a boss within the gold timer. A good small group can kill most of the bosses in 2 minutes. You can still take 3 times as long and make the gold timer.

Here’s the reason it isn’t a myth; boss leveling. As the number of players increase past certain thresholds, the level of the boss increases as well. This means an increase in glancing hits. If a player comes and causes a 2% decrease in damage to everyone while scaling the boss, there is no way they’ll make it up.

Boom-boom makes this really obvious. If you see that turret hit level 84, you know it’s going to take forever. By then, the boss has scaled up enough to reduce everyone’s damage by 6% in addition to the normal scaling. That hurts. It’s not a myth. The scaling is such that an additional player can hurt more than help.

It baffles me to see players not only defending this most kittened game design ever but actually insulting other players. THE ONLY THING SCALING SHOULD DO IS PREVENT BOSSES FROM DYING TOO FAST!

Indeed. The scaling system is supposed to be a background process, not an obstruction that the players have to take into account. It should be behind the scenes, making sure bosses don’t die too fast, and offer a proper challenge for each group size. They should not make battles drag on for way too long, because there are too many players. That simply means it isn’t working right.

You got it wrong there. The problem is pretty much the players.
Theoretically if every player that joined had provided an average amount of DPS, the event would be done quicker in zergs. Unfortunately, your average zerg is majorly composed of players that sit back wielding ranged weapons and simply afk spam 1 on the enemy and just wait for the loot. These players are dead weight and only drag the event further.

and they actually can.
50 players on one boss, can kill that boss at the same time it takes 12 players to kill another boss.

However they cannot kill that boss and move to the next one, quicker than 12 players at each boss.

This is scaling working correctly, regardless of players dps.

You mean, lie? Because 12 people on the mob means, that we could safely remove 3-6 of them and it would make the fight easier. In 12 people group half of the people are really a hindrance – their presence actually makes matters worse.

Actually its not harder with more people, unless they’re not doing correct boss mechanics. (ie no reflects at pyros, seeds not being thrown behind shurak)
My point of 12 per boss is not a lie. Its a perfectly reasonable number. 15 starts to upscale boss a bit, but even then not too much, and you’ll make the gold rewards easily enough

Just go hit one of the bosses for a minute and go afk in the center.
Mobs upscale very fast, but they downscale much slower. If few people go there, tag and leave, the event might not downscale back until it’s after gold reward timeout .

This is false. Boss upscale and downscale instantly. Please don’t spread false information.
The only things that may not downscale so quick are booms turret. (That doesnt downscale). and the number of vets in an area, they need to be killed.

I had no idea what I was doing. And when we were on the last boss (Boom Boom I think), people were saying – get off the boss, it scales you know. I was surprised, because don’t World Bosses scale too, and no one says get off those.

The scaling is a massive exponential curve, insted of a linear one. It is completely messed up.

See when I go with a small group, most of us are strait out of dungeons in our full DPS setups really to burn the bosses down.

In the zergs though, how many people are in their DPS setups? is it a fair comparison to take a zerg that is 25% zerk, 25% PVT, 25% clerics/whatever, 25% condi which override eachother. And compare it to a team of 100% zerk.

Yes, it is.
Last time i have done Boom Boom in a small group, it consisted of 3 bunker guardians, a condi necro, and a bearbow (who might or might have not been a zerker). Scaling for that number allowed us to burn Boom realy fast, with enough time to spare for gold, that we could take it easy. Put 15 people in that fight, and everything suddenly starts to slow down, as not only the boss’ hps get inflated, but bursting down the turret takes much longer (and it heals for more). Get a zerg here, and it becomes a massive pain.

If you were there at the beginning of the Boss Blitz, then you should be in one of the fighting groups.

Assume that there are all 6 groups, and that all are already full (in most “gold” zones i was, “full” was considered to be an 8 player group, 10 at most, as scaling starts to get bad after that, and every additional person is only a hindrance). What in that case the over-the-limit player need to do? If your answer is “afk in the middle” or “go gauntlet”, then the design is wrong.

Or, explain to group that 12 per boss is actually the preferred number.

In my experience groups tended to use the 10 =full rule, because there was always stragglers who dont listen.
In general though there was 1-2 bosses with less than 10 players.

What does that tell you?

A full pavillion does not mean every boss will be full and I’ve yet to see people being told to sit in the middle before blitz has started/during organisation.
What I have seen is “2 go to boss y”. And people reminding others that we want b/n 6-12 per boss.

Obviously during an event if you log in, you may be told to wait in the middle. This is because its hard to count players during an event.
The real issue with pav, is people who dont read map chat or dont care. People who want to zerg because its “fun”. people who still ask “which boss first”. People who see a boss start to zerg and nobody leaves because of the “i dont want to, you leave syndrome”.
And finally lack of any map organisation by anet. (people counter/all boss health viewable.)

I think “Everything is fine and we have enough options for both.” is pretty much this. As new armour is added anyway, it just tells that the proportion is fine.

This is your problem here.

it has nothing to do with megaserver btw, you’d have come out to an overflow in the old system.
What you should do in this case is PARTY up with someone staying in the labyrinth. (I do this for dc’s. alot).
This way when you come back out you can (hopefully) join back into the correct map, the one you participated in, in time for the reward.

Otherwise, if you’re bored waiting around, use speed buffs on the doylaks who havent made it to the end yet.
Play some costume brawl, the tp..whatever.

If you were there at the beginning of the Boss Blitz, then you should be in one of the fighting groups.

If you arrived late and asked if any groups needed help and they don’t, run to a boss, hit it, then go do something else.

When people keep pulling others into a ‘gold pavilion’ until it’s hardcapped, there will be too many players. The system relies on people being afk at the center, or doing the gauntlet. In ‘gold pavilions’ that people are actively keeping hardcapped, sometimes not enough people are afk. It’s impossible to arrive late, unless you were one of the afk people.

The problem with this content is that the event doesn’t keep everyone who’s playing it occupied, and if people decide to occupy themselves by helping out somewhere, stuff starts going south. Expecting people to actively not do anything, even get near a boss they’re not supposed to, for kitten’s sake, that’s terrible. It’s really just very, very badly designed, which is quite surprising, after they figured out how to make things work with the color pool buffs at Scarlet’s knight events.

I’ve been on hardcap maps,

from what I can tell, pav has a lower hardcap than “openworld” maps.
15 per boss is max for it not be too difficult..

And even on hardcap maps we tend to get about 12 per boss, I assume there’s always a few people doing gauntlet and afk… but sure not so many as most want to do the blitz.
So hardcap is alot lower than main maps.


to the person who asked about tagging boss and doing gauntlet..dont, do guantlet first tag boss near the end… guantlet seems to remove any contribution you may have made on the blitz so you dont get boss reward.

Its not a pug friendly encounter,need 6 commanders and kill all boss’s same time and you will get gold event every 5min,so this event encouraged people to work together if they want gold/silver.

You do not need 6 comms.
you need a pav of people willing to communicate via mapchat.

I have been in multiple successful pug maps with 0 comms, it’s a little harder to organise because people dont care.
But when you do get people to reply in map and start calling out numbers at bosses, and then boss health etc, its runs as smoothly as with comms.

But most people go “no comms = fail server = might as well zerg”, they dont take initiative and think "well why am I zerging? " and just step back form it.

By the way, what’s wrong with using an up-scaled character in the event?
If the game upscale you, you’re supposed to be there.
If anet wanted that we use only lvl 80 then the game should not upscale you and let die you at the same moment that you set one foot in the place.

But, the place upscale you, so you’re supposed to be there.

i think the issue is the lack of traits and upscaling not taking this into account, so you’re weaker than level 80’s.
(at least thats how most people feel)

I didnt jump into living story until marionette, but I really enjoyed it, the saving citizens and the knights.

I know for me at the vendor, I don’t see the nodes that I already own.

I would love to be able to have the male versions of Phalanx and heavy Aetherblade armors on my female characters. The discrepency between the male and female versions is so vast it really should be optional.

Agree… they are soooo different …

Far asura/charr..using ,ale/female outfits shouldnt matter too much.. although dont female charrs have a waist? (more noticeable than their male counterpart? ).

I think the problem in human/norn/and even sylvari is the character bodies between male/female are very different …
and idk, if its paticularly “fair” to have a ‘choice’ version for asura/charr, and not other races. idk.

Not all path sellers are exploiting. For example ac is solable on ele/war. An easy way to tell if it was an exploit(going through the wall) or a legit run, is wps!

If there’s a wp before the boss area.. = legit run. (just something for buyers to check.;)..)

TP is part of the game. It exists, so playing it, is playing the game. Just not the way you want.

I beat liadri this way with 5 seconds on the clock. (I went with lifesteal after 50+ tries failing to pick up the orbs..lag was really noticeable in this fight. )

Time wise it can be VERY tight. If you do want to do it this way. (I dont know if its an exploit or not, the fact anet has said nothing about it, leads me to think that it isnt, it apparently was possible this way last year too.)

Precision oil and lifesteal food really really helps. Have your precision above 50%, the higher the better, mine was at 51%. With all weapons having vamp. runes/sigils.

I loved Rift’s system, if someone tried to login to your account from another IP it locked your money and items and it sent you an email with a code for unlocking them the next time you login. It wasn’t annoying at all, oh and the IP that tried was blocked until you unlocked it on their account page. It worked very well.

We have similar here.
You cant login into the game from a different ip til you authenticate it from your email.

I dont use the mobile authenticator. And I wont no matter how many sites want to use it. But if people want to use it/want more protection..well I’m not against that. Make it an a choice in settings/options.

The main thing you need though, is simply dont use the same password on multiple sites.(nor the same username). and dont log in from areas you’re not sure off/public wifi.

it’s actually a very simple reason. expecting hundreds of random people who don’t know each other very well to work together is probably one of the most unrealistic expectations ever.

Works Just Fine. Say hello to my over 300 Champ boxes in about 3.5 hours the other night with completely random people.

Well I would love to get into that megaserver instance. The only ones I seem to get into after logging in numerous time to try and find a good one are sitting at bronze with only a few dead. And the last one I did that a few of us managed to kill the ogre and I never got credit for the total event. Total bust from my end, but I am glad you are rolling in the boxes. Just out of curiosity are you EU or NA?

When you get into an organized instance, loot flows freely.

But chances are when you log in, your instance will already be 1/2 hour into the event with 3 bosses down and at least 1/2 hour more before the nightmare ends. Only then do you get the opportunity to organize.

You can randomly guest to other servers and pray you’ll get into a good one.

You can stare at the LFGs, hoping you’ll see “Organized Crown Pavilion.”

Not good.

well I’ve started using the lfg tool to get into an organised map, and for the most part its been working,… got more silvers than gold… but they’re not long drawn out runs, it’s quick to start the next run and most people liste…..most..you still the get the odd person who say something like “chat was on a different tab”/“I have map chat off, sorry”.

In this case, its clear these events need to force mapchat on (and saychat) ….and for people that have multiple tabs..

maybe when you enter an event area like this, you chat tab changes to default. guild/say/map in one..combat in the other… and you cant block/stop map chat. It’s really crucial that people can see what you’re asking them to do.

I stopped using minions when I reached level 65 or so. (being mostly a pve’r). I do hate going against MM’s in pvp for the annoyance more than being an actual threat.

anyway.
I use golem in pve. I’ve just never bothered with the other elites. And the amount of times I’m there fighting away and the golem is just standing at my side trying to look pretty or something…. more times than I can count. Certain skills seem to “wake him up”. And if it gets hit, it’ll respond.

I’ve never had much trouble with charge, or the minion running away(in saying that, it’s not something I’d notice/care about. I often use the minion to take agro of mobs in pve while I run off/gather etc.)

boss blitz dont have “tons and tons of health” unless you’re doing it wrong. In fact a party of 5 can effectively take a boss down.

I quite enjoy boss blitz btw.

Why are people complaining about organization issues? Ask around in Divinity/LA, use the LFG tool, etc.

Seriously, just go put “LF taxi Blitz” into the LFG tool and I guarantee you’ll find a group willing to taxi you within a few minutes. Or if you’re a commander: put up “LF more commanders for Blitz”.

some of these posts you’ll agree with. Some you’ll see are the same old.

I’m also tired of one hit mechanics, make some content that makes defensive builds viable. (you know for the whole build diversity).
Make this kind of content instance. This often helps with lag. Although not always.

And you’re right, getting hit by shadowfall/visions even though well outside of the area is because of lag. Not bugs. Its the same kind of lag that(say in jumping puzzles) hits you with falling damage despite the fact your jump was successful.

It’s just all the more noticeable or/and annoying in this fight.

I quite enjoy this, when it’s done right…but keeping pugs from zerging to the next boss aint easy.
Especially as most dont care/refuse to listen/think you should go away because they want to do it wrong..

the issue isnt before the boss fights, but during/after…and people zerging to the boss thats still alive… because they “want to kill things” ………..
