80lvl boost -throwing all maps into garbage

Well, if you aren’t among the Chosen, you get nothing.

I will not buy HoT. I guess I’m invisible and unworthy of any future consideration.

Doesn’t matter that I’ve bought gem cards worth far more than the cost of that sorry, single demographic, feature sized “expansion”.

Why won’t you buy HoT? Just curious.

Simple. I am disabled and play with only my right hand and a single usable digit on my left. Why buy a nightmare? Sadly, platforming and vertical have become the norm, and not an interesting option for those who enjoy that. Single demographic. If you can’t/don’t like platforming, go away.

I can play Core, even though I am gated from an increasing number of options/achievements there, I can’t even enter Dry Top in spite of hours spent attempting it before giving up. And no, I refuse to be “carried”, If I cannot do content myself, I won’t.

Although I did raid in WoW, Everquest, AoC and EQ2, I am too slow and imprecise to do group content now, I cannot carry my weight. I solo in Core. I do have 8k ap and rank 250 in wvw, not much, but I try. AP comes very slowly now. I have 13 80’s and now a 52, I bought another slot again because leveling a char is something to do.

I play core because there is still an option on how I can play. I watched hours of HoT footage, and there is simply no options for me there.

They are limiting the game. We got a whole expansion of vertical platforming. It has extended far beyond jumping puzzles and does effect everyone who is not into that type of gaming.

It rarely works out to basically force people to partake of an activity over and over again “till they learn to like it” but that seems to be the basic tenet of ANET in this game.

Embarrassing? You’re assuming the QA all played Guild Wars 1 and were all into lore. I’ve seen worse typos in top best sellers. Entire wrong names used. It happens. This is a pretty small molehill even for this community to turn into a mountain. lol

You would not have to have played GW or be into “Lore” to know the facts. An entire campaign was devoted to dealing with Abbadon. This is not obscure lore about some minor side character. 30 seconds on GW wiki would have been enough.

Sick of the “editor” blah blah card.

When mounts come, not IF, a good number of those going purple with rage at the mention of mounts will be enthusiastically grinding for them or buying gem cards.

Why are you so obsessed with mounts that you delude yourself into thinking it’s inevitable? What do mounts even add to a game where you can warp around at will?

I’m ambivalent about them. I just find the reaction to them to be funny.
Hint. When they need a new income cow, mounts will be offered. And the new demographic of players they wish to attract will laugh at you.

I can only tell you why I won’t buy it. I doubt it applies to you. Everyone has to consider their own tastes and choices.

I’m dexterity disabled. Severe RA, my left hand is folded and allows only finger pecking. Right is meh. I do not like platforming in any form. I will never like platforming, and would be a waste to buy HoT.

Mount for GW2: The Dead Horse. It does nothing, cannot move, and comes with a stick to beat in the pathetic hope it will. In fact, it’s dead, rotting, and makes every NPC around you shun you meaning that you cannot buy, sell, craft, or enter any town or city, ever again. Also, it makes you attackable by everyone in WvW, you cannot join PvP teams, etc.

Why? Because you are sick and disturbed enough to insist on riding a dead horse and beating it.

I liked the old Post Mount system EQ2 had. Like WPs, you had to discover the mount stations, then rent a pathed, game controlled mount that would travel between stations.

Much faster than running, slower than insta WP, but a lot more immersive. Plus, you could jump off them between stations if you saw something you wanted to investigate. (You would be on foot then)

I think your thread is a clever way to beat a dead horse.

Frankly, if Anet decide to make maps that purposefully waste my time so badly that I need a mount to get around, I won’t be going there.

This is hilarious, as Anet has indeed made that type of map, and it needs a glider “mount” to get around.

Getting around with a glider in a map with horizontal levels is not the same as needing a mount to cut travel time for vast expanses of desert nothingness. The only hilarious thing here is that you’re equating the two.

Oh? Gliders and wings are both considered “mounts” in EQ2. And another category.. jumpers.

Gliders are an equipped external means to travel. Mount.

As an aside, I ride my broomstick all over when bored. A mount. We have mounts.

I have never seen a company, in any expansion, get away with removing previously earned core content features and placing them behind a new expansion pay wall. Not once.

I’ve purchased more expansions for EQ2 alone than Anet has produced in their history.

Not quoting another wall of opinions.

For the obtuse, for the nth time, I have no interest in buying HoT, and therefore my chance to restore my small guild to what it had is firmly locked behind a pretty hefty pay wall.

Not an opinion. A fact.

But go ahead, repeat your argument about no pay walls and no lock outs. Again.

Add an argument about how it is good it is to be forced to purchase an expansion a person doesn’t want, to replace something they had already earned in Game.

Carry on.

So be in a guild that’s too small to run guild missions. Nothing about HoT has changed that. What was required before to get anything of any importance is still required now.

And I will repeat my question. Why weren’t small guilds an issue 2 weeks ago.? Why were our upgrades not an issue? Where were all the snide remarks?

Cutting through the BS of how many people and DE and rl guilds and other sermonettes.

We have guilds. That is what the game gave us, what they are called. Regardless of member numbers. The game did not gate anything until higher level group upgrades that were gated to required number of members.

We had something, earned upgrades. Now we don’t, and we can’t get it back. It is a very simple issue.

Don’t give me this “You were a guild, now you are not” bovinefeces. I still have a “Guild” in game and in spite of only 2 members it hasn’t gone away.

Nobody took them away. They were just made useless after several years of being fine as they were.

The only justification I see for the disdain for small guilds today is.. The Haves NEED some Have Nots to look down upon, and that idiotic pixillated hall was the catalyst.

Nothing has changed. If you wan to do things as a small guild of 2, then do them. You won’t do them as fast but guess what, you didn’t do them as fast 2 weeks ago as you insinuate because you could never earn influence as a guild of 2 at the same rate as larger guilds.

I’m looking at guild missions right now. The only mission that a minimum required number is the PvP one, but that’s a PvP requirement, not because they disrespect guilds. If you don’t want PvP missions then choose PvE in the menu.

And for people who say “Well you have to be level 10 to unlock X mission”, that’s no different that what you had to do before. To unlock bounties you had to get a lot of influence to train it. Smaller guilds earned influence at a far smaller rate than larger guilds. To unlock rushes, and then puzzles and then challenges you had to have more than 2 people to run missions to earn the merits to unlock those. To get merits off bounties to unlock the other missions you had to do at least 2 bounties within 15 minutes which required more than 2 or 3 people to do.

There is no way you went into Langmar’s Estate and ran that guild puzzle with only 2 people. It has always required a bare minimum of 6. No, it never said “Players Required: 6” in the mission, but anyone who has ever run that mission knows that when you get to the curtain room you HAVE to have 6 players because there are 6 curtains on the lower level that have to be pulled at the same time. You can’t have 2 or 3 players run from curtain to curtain.

In Proxemic’s Lab you have to have a bare minimum of 4. The part at the end before the maze requires FOUR people to stand on buttons at the same time to open the door.

In Angvar’s Trove you HAVE to have SIX people just to get past the chasm. You need 3 people to be shooting the icicles and at least 3 to put them in to be able to do it in the time allotted.

When it comes to challenges, no way you did it with just 2 or 3 people. Rushes, yes, it’s possible, but to even unlock rushes you first had to unlock bounties and puzzles which required a lot more than 2 or 3 people for each.

So this entire whine fest about them not caring about small guilds is complete bunk. Smaller guilds have it easier now to get everything. You can get your guild hall with only 2 to 4 people. That size of a guild will take longer to upgrade it, but as I pointed out earlier your small guild took longer to upgrade under the old system too. And with this new system a small guild can actually upgrade FASTER. You couldn’t change your rate of influence, but with this new system you are limited only to the amount of time you wish to dedicate to gathering the materials needed to upgrade the hall to unlock things and level up.

Without HoT?

I’m well aware of the Group Content in the old system. I did not ask to be able to do those in the old system. I had upgrades I could do. Now I do not, and to try and access what I had, I face a paywall and group gate.

But, thanks for the unrelated wall of text lecture and whine fest snark. Why you quoted me is a mystery. Obviously you are not comprehending. “Nothing has changed”. Really?

I expected GW1 with major mmo bling. Ingame VOIP option. A guild interface and bank controls far more advanced than what we got. Configurable UI. Particle sliders. Actual dynamic events rather than infinitely repeatable events. QoL features that are in games released 10+ years ago. I expected the Manifesto to be an actual “thing”.

I didn’t expect the content would be increasingly driven by NES nostalgia. I didn’t expect the story writing to be driven by emulating TV programs, terrible common tropes and social justice warriors.. I did expect the Lore of GW to be respected. I didn’t expect the personal story would be so glaringly bad. I really did not expect the super server merge and loss of all server community. I did not foresee “zerging” would be the preferred play. It’s always been an insult, to me.

I play here when I am taking breaks from GW or EQ2. I will not buy HoT. I do not like platforming, mario or LoZ, so, no point. I wont commit to anymore purchases until they quit floundering around and decide what they want to be.

Haven’t uninstalled cause I love my Norn and the environment is so pretty, when not blocked by a 600 lb winged, glowing GokuCharr or a blinding wall of particle effects. Waiting for a better MMO with better standards of immersion and an actual design destination. Wings.. really. Et Tu, GW2?

Imagine it? Why would I even want to use those and play like a super casual?

They should have never added tomes and skill point scrolls in the first place. It made the game too casual, so these people expected everything new to be handed to them in the same way.

I know rite? The second I used an exp tome I suddenly felt I was entitled to precursors dropping from copper nodes, a box of ascended, and a personal “Worship Me” beacon over my head. Oh, that slippery slope!!!!

4-500 member map spam guilds have always been kind of a joke. Sorry. I see guild invites in my panel all the time from people I have no clue about, who never even sent a whisper. Not impressive.

My best times in an mmo was when my EQ2 guild had 2 members, me and a dear friend who has passed on. Best friend, and best Inquisitor I ever knew. Duoing with my SK we could wreck 5 man content, easily. Because it wasn’t gated.

Now you nerfd hero point tomorrow you will nerf the whole game.

This is quite a leap. Did you need updraft for it or just the usual gliding to get that far?

Yesterday you told Anet they were “impeccable” for the decisions they made. Today, the same people make a decision and you seem less enthused in your effusive praise.

Fickle much? You honestly think they pushed a fix this fast over just forums? I am sure their internal metrics were showing they had to do something… and put people to work on the fix long before the forum Drama got so intense.

They have stonewalled far more outcry for months at a time. Loot Issues threads and Megamerger come to mind.

No perks for duo guild?

My guild got 5 members and we are all real live friends.

We made the same guild/clan over in every online game we’ve played.

Due to real life issues, getting married, having baby, looking for better jobs etc.

We are now down to 2 active members, and looks like we will never have our own guild hall. We don’t ask for being a powerful guild, we just want to enjoy every guild functions like other big guild.

The core of being a guild is to grow in size. Two members isn’t a guild. It’s barely even a party. You’re complaing about something that exists in any mmo. There should be some kind of a reward for being bigger. If two people could achieve the same as 200 people, then what is the point of even joining a big guild?

Tiers? I don’t think any small guild is asking for ALL the upgrades or activities of a large one, nor the speed of upgrading.

Why are you so offended by a small guild building and sharing banners, wvw camp upgrades, siege, as we have for several years with 0 complaints from the community. How does this hurt your Mega Guild in any way?

If anything we will be seeing less of these helpful buffs. Simple math.

BTW I have solo guilds in GW and EQ2, and in SWG years ago. Had one in WoW as well. Using EQ2 as an example, it took oh.. 5 years or so to level to 60 running guild writs solo.. something a 400 person guild could do in few months… And that is the advantage of numbers. Those big guilds are now level 100, with all the perks and huge halls.

And, try to be more knowledgeable at least before stating something as patently wrong as ’NO OTHER MMO ALLOWS IT" earlier in the thread.

Now, it looks like we’re done. It seems there is no way to progress our guild, no matter how slowly.

Make some friends? There are tens of thousands of other players out there willing to help you. The only reason why you don’t have a way to progress is because you don’t want to (invite other people, make friends, etcs). It’s called an MMO for a reason.

Just Stop. It is called an MMO because Garriot coined the term to hype thousands of people online at the same time, same world. Nothing to do with grouping.

I will say that after reading your position, you are not taking into account very specific things…

This is an MMO, not a singleplayer game. MMOs are all about building communities/taking part in adventures together. Your issue with the “wiki” sort of speaks to this idea that you should be able to do everything by yourself (note, I’m not saying you said it, but it is the idea that you’re speaking towards). The wiki is a culmination of players trying to help each other.

If you think Dulfy does everything by herself, you’d be sorely mistaken. She has a guild that helps her and supports her efforts in leading the information train to keep players that maybe don’t have the time to figure it all out, informed. This doesn’t just help those on a time crunch, it also helps stabilize the economy when new things come out.

All of that to say this: Your expectations are skewed. What you describe is more of a complaint of the genre of MMOs being capable of being completely single player. Not really a strictly gw2 thing.

Great rundown of MMOs 12 years ago. Crafting anything is, and should be a solo endeavor unless mats are in defined group content. Anything not gated by entry group restrictions should be solo. Even world bosses are generally a cluster of solo players.

Much Wiki info is contributed by, gasp, Solo players.
