I don’t think small guilds should get guild halls, but I do think that they should have an alternative that scales to them.
Something along the lines of a guild office, guild mansion (one structure and a garden as opposed to an entire city), or guild airship – basically anything that can realistically maintained by a small group of people.
The LA HQ is already instanced. I would be happy with that.
The current definition of Guilds never existed prior to HoT, not in GW2, not in GW. No “invite and kick” shenanigans to meet a minimum number.. as in other games.
It is pretty crappy that this new “definition” gates Guilds created under the nonrestricted definition and upgraded for years with non-restricted upgrades.
Taking earned content away and placing it behind a paywall is wrong. Had this happened to other spheres of the game people would have rioted.
Funny. Not a word of complaint, that I can recall, regarding 1-2 member guilds prior to this. Not a word from Anet prior to this. Since launch they have been a part of the game and allowed the content they could accomplish, while larger guilds had number gated content just for them.
It is never acceptable to take away previously earned content and paywall a revamp of it.
I also can’t accept being called an entitled little whiner.. as I really didn’t get much personal gain by placing banners in world zones or buffing wvw structures and camps.
Logan? Prepare for disappointment.

Well congrats to all.
(Contemplates my gutted Non-Hot Guild)
Who is “crying” today? Karma. Not just a game currency.
This is a good decision by Anet. Particularly for those customers just buying into the Franchise and starting with 0 Hero points altogether on a new account with no insta 20 and no tomes.
People need to look at the head start on having existing Hero points as a veterans reward, and look at a lot bigger picture. 250 is a good compromise for everyone.
I’m still mad at them, Anet, for the treatment of Non HoT guilds and the 180 turn in design philosophy, but I can applaud them for a good decision. Still not buying HoT though.

Mastery you can work on anytime, there’s no bouncy mushrooms in WVW lol
I’m actually pretty sad that they didn’t add glider and mushroom mechanics to WvW.
They should really tie those in to the wvw ranking system at the low levels or something so they can design maps around cool new mechanics like that. I’d love to see, once they have enough borderland maps to have each borderland be a different one, a floating islands style BL with gliders, anti-air cannons, rank buffs to allow bombing from gliders or air vehicle upgrades from the new guild tactics system etc. Gliders would make a EOTM style map a lot more fun and tactically interesting.
Well, in reality something like that could gate WvW from not HoT players, particularly a floating island map.
Mainly though, a flying TC blob is the 2nd most terrifying image I can imagine.
You misunderstand. I’m saying that in stead of masteries, stuff like that for use in wvw maps is tied to wvw ranks.
So, glider upgrades and such things in WvW would be from early wvw ranks (which were the original masteries really), not HoT masteries. That would mean players with a lot of WvW under their belt would have them already, and new players would spend a little time without them to better learn maps and core WvW mechanics.
That would allow them to design WvW maps when they add new mechanics like gliding, and use those mechanics without requiring people to go do hefty amounts of PvE to use them in WvW.
I see, but it would still have to get Anet to allow gliders for Non-Hot players in WvW.

happy players are obviously playing HoT, unhappy players are on the forums (well unhappy and people who’ve just played HoT for the last few hours and decided to take a break to check up on the forums).
If this is indeed true, the reports of largely empty HoT maps doesn’t bode well.
Both Everquests are not what they were, OP. Even they have realized that casuals have money. You can get seriously powerful Mercenaries in both games, there are solo paths, they are not McQuaid mmo’s anymore. The harder core raids and do high tier group Dungeons now. Open world, open dungeons and leveling.. not hard core at all. Linked heroics in Open world were largely removed years ago. EQ2 also removed spawn camp progress gating, years ago. Gear and stat checks remain on hard core content, to the delight of of the Hard Cores who still despise the casual scrubs and bads. (An attitude becoming more common in GW2, unfortunately)
They progressed in many ways. Why Anet chooses to regress to an earlier type of gaming is a mystery to me. There are better ways forward than creating ancient NES title emulators.

Best “objective” review ever. 14/7
Seriously, this review war is a sad joke.
They never take that path, and I’ve watched probably 10 of them.
So to play the Heart of Thorns content you need to do the Heart of Thorns content. I don’t see the problem.
If only that was the problem…
im sorry but its Ridiculous they cant please Every player on the face of the earth, every player wants something different and sadly points of views Change So diversily that its Impossible for 1 game to cater to all in this day and age.
Exactly. They can’t. And Hot is exactly that – trying to please a completely different group than the Core game.
Agreed. There isn’t a lot of stuff now that the usual subjects can scream “go back to wow” about. Level cap increase, I guess.
Yeah, if they wander a bit out of path the big worms have like wvw mortar range on em.
Not bots, they try different routes, try to dodge attacks, far more random.
And farm what 15-20 levels under? Only thing that people of that level can do is harvest.
NA servers… but I am in Frostgorge a lot.
It is a mystery!
Earthshake WP, then run either to the Vet in the ice maze or to the Grawl tunnel.
They are players in Underwear.. usually 60ish.
Just curious. They aren’t doing anything illegal that I know of, or disrupting anyone.
What they are doing is running to certain spots on the map and getting one shotted, for hours. WP and do it again over and over.
Been going on for a month or so. At first I had a theory it was some odd guild initiation, but they have been from a lot of different guilds.
They don’t talk. The mystery is killing me.
you have to be level10 because they don’t want a free to play player who would 1. troll players 2. don’t even know there skills and jump in pvp right away
How can you possible know that? Honestly, F2P is Anet’s future, one they deem worth driving Veterans away for. They are gambling that F2P will buy Hot in greater numbers than the vets walking away from a 180 degree turn in design philosophy.
Yes, because the 200 vets in my guild didn’t all buy HoT. lol What an imagination.
You forgot to add “and everyone I talk to” Kudos for remembering the snide comment at the end though. I see you haven’t slipped much, Vain.
I really really hope it isn’t stalking time again.

An assumption compounded by a “Beta” that showed nothing of the means to get an elite spec.. only the experience of having one.
Don’t apologize for me. They devalued the core game and took away earned guild upgrades and paywalled them to leverage HoT. That is unethical and I have no shame stating it.
Without Chewbacca and the Master Chief this inspirational story lacks inspiration.
Oh.. gosh. So many details left out of the fine print. I really hope they put him there.
Surprise! Gating.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
For illustration purposes only I’ll share just how much of a “Nut” I am. Not looking for advice on how to change.
If I don’t like something.. I don’t care what I miss out on. I am severely dexterity handicapped, RA, kind of a right paw and left finger only. I hate JPs. I fail JPs. I fail Vistas. I carry around a stack of transporter rifles to do fairly simple ones. I hate platforming so much I have not been to Dry Top after failing it several times. I wouldn’t go into the new maps even if I bought HoT. I was so embarrassed about buying a mes for the three JP vistas for map completion I actually just quit and never finished it. Means nothing since I could not do it myself.
I don’t like the unpersonal personal story. It gates me from a lot of things, but as a lover of good stories these things grate like sand on glass. I would pay gems to to be able to kill the Biconics. So, I don’t do them anymore. I’m fine without the rewards.
I do fun. No carrot is shiney enough to make me do Not Fun.
I have 9 Rangers out of 13 characters.
I don’t group simply because I feel I’m a terrible player. Not grouping saves me from “advice”. Content that requires grouping just doesn’t get done, and I’m fine with that. Being a terrible player means I really really miss my WvW buffs. I could contribute more to WvW than just being the scout reporting the zerg Bus that just ran over her. I don’t run with the Zerg since I found out my death rallied some Monstrous TC Oppressors. I was mortified.
I do play for the persistent world. My son thinks I am insane because I have a year old New Vegas save I keep playing while refusing to do the final mission.
I spend too much on hairstyles. I do change armor I’ve used for 6 months because it suddenly makes my butt look huge. I hate Charr so much, because of GW, that I could never roll one and I look suspiciously at those that do, knowing it is irrational as heck. I’m so biased that I deleted a Norn who somehow went drinking with them. Never chose that option again.
I’m contrary and don’t inflict myself on guilds. I’ll help people in game while grudgingly wishing they weren’t in my yard sometimes.
I’m happy spending most of my time in Frostgorge or Timberline. I love them. I wander around doing whatever. Bears hate me cause sword ranger just looks so cool while stabbing them.
I don’t do game prompts or check off boxes. I have less than 8k ap and am fine with chronic underachieving. I do some dailies if I like them.
While I do have 500 level crafters, I look at the cost and think of how many hair kits I could buy instead of crafting ascended.. and so I don’t.
I have 13 Characters. Since I abandoned world completion, 11 of them have never set foot in Black Citadel or occupied Ascalon. Charr.. grrr.
My worst offense? I LIKE saving the Quaggan in frostgorge.
I could go on. But, I’m a nut, like that suspicious unidentified thing in a jar of Cashews. I spend just as much as Group 1, probably more on Gem cards. I’ll play my way, by my rules, as long as Anet doesn’t remove all of my options to. I absolutely do not care when a Player, or Anet, tells me I am not doing it right.
(edited by Teofa Tsavo.9863)
As a non HoT guild owner, any discussion on long term effect of the Guild changes would be a moot point for me. I have been removed from them.
I’ve tried to be “non political” on this thread, but honestly, I am mad enough and stubborn enough never to purchase HoT. Having my Guild functional again would have been the sole reason left to buy it. Sorry.

OP, let them be Anet white knights all they want to. It’s still early into the xpac. They don’t have the foresight any intelligent person would have to know how horrible it’s going to be when you’re on you 5th toon trying to unlock your elite spec. Once they finally get around to that point, they’ll see the light. The grind will finally have worn away their fanboy attitude and they’ll understand what we, and the THREE THOUSAND other angry posters are talking about (reference; see the mega thread). Each elite spec takes an average of 20-25 hours to unlock. I have 11 toons. So kindly, go kitten yourself if you think it’s entitled or whining for wanting elite specs at a lower rate.
This is a poor argument.
1) – Masteries are account bound, so after you have unlocked them all on one character, it will be much easier on the others.
2) – You chose to have 11 characters. It takes much more effort to get all those characters to level 80 than to unlock the Elite. Even with tomes. You had to expend effort to get those.
3) – It is not grind if you can get it by just playing the game. Getting Hero Points is just that: playing the game.
So all that said, there ARE reasonable points to the arguments that you an people like you make, it is just the tone you take that kills all reasonable conversation.
For one thing, while Hero Points should remain challenging, they should also do a better job scaling. All of them should be solo-able, but not eye-bleedingly easy with more people in the area.
For another, the total hero points required should be about half of what it is to fully unlock all traits and skills. The remaining half should unlock skins.
Well I do think his “tone” could have been influenced by being called an “Entitled Whiner”. Hostility breeds hostility.

15% of 20 is 3 hours, and you said it didn’t even take that. No wonder you declined the challenge. Thanks for the laugh.
Your inability to comprehend the point made in that post is amazing.
Thanks too“BTW my elite spec (on rev) didn’t take even 15% of the time you said it’d take”
Stated as fact. I comprehend quite well, thank you.Did you?
can I pull a number out of the same place you pulled yours to support my argument?
If so, elite specs take 2 hours.I am making it very clear that I’m going to use unsupported data there, just like yours.
My data? Ok I’ll type slower and louder.
He said 20-25 hours.
You said you completed in less that 15% of that.. so, less than 3 hours.
Then you stated you would pull an imaginary number of 2 hours.
And I’m done, because your need to convince yourself how right you are will drag this on for hours.

WvW workshop requires items to build.. that can only be purchased in a completed WvW workshop. Anet is aware of this.
It is happening to my human chars as well, and I don’t even equip it.

Sorry OP, but this is the point that the “caring” rabid community they brag so much about tells you not to let the door hit you. Or worse.
Feel free to refute the arguments made by people in this topic, instead of ignoring why we’re telling him to not let the door hit him.
Wait, maybe that’s because…. you can’t refute any of it?
Missing the point much? You can disagree without becoming hostile. The comment was on hostility, nothing else. Feel free to invent other motives and then apply a snarky comment.. oh wait.

Sorry OP, but this is the point that the “caring” rabid community they brag so much about tells you not to let the door hit you. Or worse.
I totally agree with OP! But don’t worry, whiners are gonna leave soon or get better at game. So it just needs time. Also they are only a minority of palyerbase, less than 1%, so their opinion doesn’t matter that much. Thou they may think they are special.
Your made up statistic is just so much more special than most. Less than 1%.
A bunch of trolls are spamming the metacritic site with scores of 10 and writing more about other players being wrong than about the expac itself. If you average out the honest reviews the score drops even more.
Just a question… what happens with the rest of us that sit somewhere in the middle of your two groups, enjoy the expansion and like to hone our reflexes and mmo skills (this extends to social stuff, people, don’t be kittens to your fellow players) despite being technically in the second group (as far as rl status goes) and spend money on gems?
You are in the third group I wrote about. It overlaps both groups, but because this third group like to do both, team and solo, I think if I had to assign it to one of the two groups I would put them in the second group. I do this because the first group wants content the harder the better, which means no soloing/duoing.
And thank you for reading

Did you absolutely have to create 2 threads for nearly identical statements?
They ran a so called Beta that ended up being a bait and switch. Players did not actually test the content to gain Elites, they got them on a platter to give the most positive experience possible.
They lowered rewards and changed core content to leverage HoT buys. Even worse, Guild upgrades already earned in the core game were removed and the means to achieve them again put behind a pay wall. Really unethical. I’ve never seen this so blatantly done in 14 years of MMOs.
Huh, and I went to the new guild place in Lion’s Arch and my guild got a bunch of stuff unlocked based on its pre-existing progress. Have you done that?
Yes, I did. Hate to break it to you, you can’t build anything without a Guild hall, improvements, and a Scribe.. all located behind a Pay Wall. Core unlocks are meaningless now without the means to build them. A non-HoT guild is useless now.
You will get Guild Armor, Weapons, and Bank if unlocked previously. That seems to be it.

How I like reporting guys like Unloveableone.6082 for their use of tongue
on topic, yea, I kinda agree, I mean, game is cool and all, but it’s missing a lot and I don’t think it can ever be solved with the way combat and classes are created….in one hand it’s great, in other hand it misses a lot of things
The fact you had to announce you reported me(for…uhm…what? None of my posts were in any way extreme.) just makes you look bad m8.
“just makes you look bad m8.” there you go….again :/
You do realize that reporting people for things that aren’t actually reportable will only get you banned in the end, right?
I think he is in no danger. Just sayin.
I really like the expansion. Everyone I play with and most of those I encounter in game like the expansion (the ones who don’t like the expansion – get this – didn’t buy it). I don’t know anyone who regularly visits the forums. My experiences in both PvE and PvP do not mirror that of the serial complainers.
Why would it be surprising that people who dislike the type of content we got plenty of preview of would not buy it? I saw vertical platforming play, jumping, flying.. shrooms for god sake.. and saved my money.
He said it’s not a surprise but i guess you wanted to say you don’t like the game but couldn’t find a better way to do it.
What i like about the expansion is that i’ve played around 15 hours and i still haven’t finished with the first map. Also i like that i choose what to do and when to do it.
What was the purpose was assigning a motive for my post? I was pointing out the obvious fact that we got a lot of previews, and so could indeed decide not to like the xpac without purchasing it and actually trying it.
Extremes generally promote a polar, opposite extreme, that is just as damaging to constructive criticism.
Welcome to being part of the problem, “Unloveableone”
