Raising the level cap is dumb.
Anyway, I really like how the expansions added thematic content. Especially Factions, the environments were breath-taking at times, with an awesome score. That’s all I really care about, new places to explore. Creating artificial content with level cap raising is a scheme I think Anet is above.
I’d like to see them either abandon all the social sites (Reddit, Twitter, etc..) or post all news and updates on the site as well. Currently, you need to pull out of the Indiana Jones hat and whip to find any relevant and new information.
I’d like to see my class (necromancer) fixed and balanced a bit, I’d also like to see Anet send its own private army of ninjas to do harm to every botter I’ve come across. Other than that, the thought of leaving the game never crossed my mind.
Chest can be found by typing in “feathered” on the TP.
Missed your second post.

Free server transfers need to stop. It hurts the communities, the balance and diminishes any sense of server pride.
Honestly, I find condition builds to be incredibly boring. It’s probably the single most uninteresting style of combat, and it really jives with the intense and fast action the combat system offers. I really want to go power, minions, wells or something that makes you feel like you’re directly involved in the fight.
I’d spend a few hours in a lowbie area trying to get the hang of quickly and precisely laying down marks. The staff is nearly essential for all builds.
Deathwish. I don’t think I’ll ever use another skin for my necro’s staff.
I think all the races are great except Norn. Each race has a wildly different aesthetic that breaks the MMO mold of “different colored human”. Norn is the only exception, who are just giant humans.
Necromancer is king of tags, imo.
I literally stay up until those two guilds get on, I love the early hour leadership.
Edit: I thought you were talking about Urge and ADT, who are a great bunch of guys. Anyway, Blackgate nighttime leadership has been pretty great so far, and I don’t think we really need an army of generals.

Are necros any good at tagging mobs / getting loot in dynamic events?

I’d reckon we’re one of the most proficient classes at tagging mobs in events, perhaps the absolute kings of DE tagging.
It’s starting to become obnoxious, not only are bots increasing in numbers (and sometimes at night they rival the ATK players in majority) but they’re starting to get pretty bold. Botting right outside the starter area in queensdales (skales respawn quick in the river).
I just rolled a guardian a few days ago (currently L42), my main is a necromancer.
I always thought our staff’s auto-attack had the single least useful AA in the game, that was until I used the guardians scepter. It’s absolutely terrible, its range should be reduced to a 600 range just so newcomers to the class don’t mistake it for a ranged weapon. The symbol is pretty neat, and the immobilize that doesn’t require you to face your target is boss — but that’s it.
It needs to have it’s projectile speed increased 50%-75% or the staff needs to have a proper ranged auto-attack and the devs can return the guardian scepter to it’s original 900 range.
Taking a guardian through the leveling process again on Blackgate, and these teleporting bots are becoming an epidemic. They’re everywhere, and make the gaming experience feel cheap.
Most condition builds will be suggested to you with SPvP in mind, I’ve found that WvW often demands slight alterations if you’re a roamer/raider.
Can I get some opinions from other necro’s as to the state of the minion AI? It seems to be 75% more responsive — but I’m worried about a placebo effect, lol.
Flesh Golem is still attacking random people though.
how the hell did you get the 75% ?
come on
Turn of phrase, perhaps I should have just said, “much more”. =/
Yeah, still having major problems in spvp with minions. Oh well.

No notes yet, but just dodged and my mark of blood was huge. Also minions SEEM more responsive.
Edit: Here we go.

I’ve played an already unhealthy amount of hours, and can’t wait to waste even more of my life. I do agree, however, that the developers need to be more forthcoming with information and updates. A lot of the negativism could be avoided with an open conversation with your player-base. Silence never did any developer any good.
Plague is an additional panic/reset button if need be.
Nobody is forcing anything on anyone. This is Anet’s game and they decide the development and content. If you don’t like it you can always choose not to play the game.
The terms “forcing and throwing” are subtle homophobic terms btw that are used to slip discriminatory views into a conversation.
And the term “homophobic” is a word that’s subtly used for character assassination.
The OP made some good points regarding subtly of sexual orientation (and yes, even heterosexual relationships can get annoying. The relationship between the queen and Logan is nearly cringe inducing). If it begins to get overly obnoxious, it detracts from the suspension of disbelief and the general atmosphere of the story.
I see the FPS generation digz teh gw2 “mmorpg” simplicity and shallownes. Awesome.
The real mmorpg crowd likes mmorpgs for their complexity, progression and rewards. All three things missing from gw2.
Oh-oh, the Battlefield 3 just got a competitor!
Complexity is not missing from GW2, it’s plenty complex. Try rolling something other than warrior.
Let’s cut to the chase, I created Necro after reaching level 80 with Thief’s DB build and so far I quiet like it, in fact imo this class is one of the easiest class to play, especially when you have non-minions build that just constantly spewing numbers.
My Necro is currently at level 30+ and at first, I was kinda lost to which what build I should go for, so I went to forums to know about different builds but to my surprise, there are so many criticism in regards to this class, e.g.: not being strong enough or something along those lines. I solo’ed two veterans with ‘well build’, kill packs with ‘corruption build’ and I rarely have down times.
So what I don’t get is that, what are people whining about? the bugs does not make the class unplayable; in fact I went through high spawn rate areas without much of an issue in regards to this. I can even survive better than my thief using necro.
You did Well on PVE easy mode.
Now go to PVP and test your might.
Come back after that.
Good Luck
Basically this.
The PvE challenge is pretty simple, mobs auto-attack and may or may not have lots of health depending on whether or not the mob is an elite. Any class can decimate veterans and scores of centaurs. The problem is when you start to fight enemies that have sentience. All those bugs listed at the top of our sub-forum cause the necromancer to be out of whack in the balance department.
Why would we waste our time trying to get necromancer’s issues brought to the developers attention if we didn’t love the class?
Plague, epidemic, spectral walk and staff make WvW incredibly fun. Plague can literally turn the tide of battle, epidemic is for applying an insane amount of pressure and the staff is just awesome for pushing the enemy lines back.
Spectral walk makes me feel like braveheart. Run like a madman into the zerg, lay down every AOE you got into the heart of the enemy and then teleport to the safety of your lines.
I disagree with your assessment of the staff’s auto-attack speed. It doesn’t hit hard, most of the time it doesn’t hit, and the times where it should have hit — the speed of the projectile caused an “out of range” error.
Staff would be almost perfect with a projectile speed buff.
Edit: Other than that, I agree with pretty much all of your suggestions.

I have no regrets. The elite may be absolutely worthless, but it sure does look pertty.
Also, I like supporting this game anyway I can.
80 Necromancer 6/10
I’d like to willfully blind myself to the glaring problems, but just can’t.
With all the complaints about the lack of an end-game, I’m not sure that further removing content was the best of ideas. Can’t farm mats to craft, can’t farm loot to sell, can’t farm dynamic events for karma.. I’m sort of in limbo here. I can either roll an alt or just not play the game.
Farm DE’s until your eyes are bleeding for about 1g, or use the gem shop.
Sadly, the necromancer forums are not the best place to get advice on necromancers. Half the class forums here are just filled with folks like this thread. They spec 30 points deep into Whine, and never look back.
Play with one of the build editors some (I recommend gw2skills.net) If you like DD, I recommend focusing on a dagger/X lifesteal spec, con damage, i think scepter/dagger + staff works quite well. play around with it in spvp some to get a feel for what a end game build feels like. Pretty much the best way to test out a class.
Unfortunately, if you listen to these forums you would think that every single one of the professions was underpowered and destroyed by everyone and their puppy.
Basically, take this post and divide it by all the complaints. Your conclusion should be something to the effect of, “this class isn’t unplayable, but with less effort I could achieve greater results with another class”.
The complaining has gotten a little out of control, but the white knights are just as detrimental to noobies and potential fixes to our class.
Necromancer is the only class in the game capable of devoting half of their skill bar to something that they can’t even itemize for.
I take your meaning, but engineer is in somewhat of the same boat.
Although I have no sources to back this up, I have heard that necromancers in GW universe don’t really reanimate the dead, they summon/create undead type creatures.
With that said, our minions are particularly non-threatening in appearance.
You aren’t INTENDED to get FULL Exotic or all sets of high end weapons in a WEEK….that’s why the prices are right for travel so you have to go off your farming beaten path and do something else to get money so you can afford other things.
Game is WAD hurray for Anet in their wisdom.
That’s what they wanted
I feel like I’m not making myself clear. I don’t need aesthetics gear, I need gear that has the best stats available. I’ll grind for “shinies” later, right now I want to be as effective as possible for WvW.
@ravinhood.3981
That is profoundly contrary to what the developers have been saying over the past few months. Is this or is this not a gear-based game? Furthermore, what is off the beaten path? Is it farming mobs? Farming dynamic events? Farming WvW? Although I am being ironic, I’m also legitimately curious.
How does one make money?
Little off topic, but what are your computer specs? You’re getting very smooth gameplay with recording software + shadows running.
More importantly, how do we 80’s make the money for all the gold sinks + armor? It’s been a week and I’m still trying to get full exotic armor, nevermind weapons and jewelry.
Well yes I thought that was a given. What I want to know is which stat applies increased damage to my minions?
I don’t think minion’s are affected by stats.
SUre once in a blue moon they get hung up, but pfft, bad pathing is nothing to cry about.
Uh huh.
Careful, if you dig that hole to deep you may not be able to get out.
I find spectral walk to be an adequate escape tool. It’s also fun to use it quasi-offensively in WvW. Nothing quite like storming 50+ players, dropping down all AOE’s and poofing away before the confusion subsides and they burn me into ash. More timid groups can be fooled into thinking their lines have been broken doing that.
There is nothing wrong with pets at all.
This crosses the line of exaggeration and is simply a lie. At the very least, we can all agree that the minion A.I. is entirely and profoundly broken. Whether you’re a crusader for Anet or deeply miserable concerning the state of necromancers, hyperbolic talk does no one any good.
While AFK my flesh golem had run off and aggro’d Behemoth all the way from Queensdale. While I tried to fight him, the golem stood directly next to me just staring with that glazed look. After I had died, my flesh golem and Behemoth high-five’d.
Very annoying.
But seriously, this is a major part of the necromancer class that simply doesn’t work. You can fool yourself with well and power builds, but even the most staunch defenders of this class have finally given into the fact.
When you master DS, fears gain a 20 minute duration.
Question to Jon Peters if i may. (or to someone else who might know)

Pretty sure its time to reroll unless you want to wait for them to give us a viable power build, but remeber they arent gonna increase our effectiveness so it will be viable power build with the same crap dmg axe, dagger and staff, Hurray. Realy feeling the love (( though we shoulda known “love” means something else in the Anet dictionary when that statement was followed with a nerf too our scepter making us worse condition appliers then mesmers, engineers thiefs and warriors ))
How do you make power build viable without increasing the effectiveness of power builds…? Oh, right.. You nerf scepter bleed durations. Even if this was a “L2P” issue, why does our class need to work harder than others to achieve the same results? Why not just play a better balanced class?
Ah, I forgot. Necromancer is dangerously OP if we find the super-secret build.
Well done on soloing this guy, however, I don’t think it changes anything. We’ve already established that necromancer fairs well against dps that lacks a brain or sentience (thus all the “guys I solo 8 warriors at once we’re fine” posts).
And I’m not being sarcastic, that must have been quite a fight. Well done.
Just got Lichform, excellent but a female version would be good eh?

I actually didn’t mean to derail this, I thought my Dunder-Miflin reference made clear that I was just joking.
I rolled Necromancer for the pets. Not many games offer this type of pet play. AoC and Diablo 2 are the only games that come to mind.
