I’ve been playing with minions a bit now that I got some time to play, and honestly I don’t see where the issue is. They act just like they have for months and months, you don’t even need to hit the target to get them to aggro, you can just wave your dagger around from 500 feet away and they still run there. I’ve never had them do absolutely nothing, at worst they’re just a little bit slow to change/reacquire aggro.

Out of 15 or so games I’ve had them completely stop attacking/movement twice. Using different skills (AA/Haunt) hasn’t made a difference in those situations. My feet have only just gotten wet with the MM build recently so I don’t know all the different “attack my fracking target” tricks, but what I did try didn’t seem to make a difference.

Soloing the champion giant in Orr almost became trivial, the more spawns he threw at me the easier the fight was. I haven’t had a chance to test it in PvP (I imagine its not stellar in battles as small as a 1v1), but its a welcome addition to PvE.

I am looking forward to the patch, if that is what this thread is about. =)

The NGE (New Game Enhancement) was a patch that was and is universally seen as the nail in SWG’s coffin. It was so drastic that it ended up changing the games genre and is remembered as one of the biggest screwups in MMO history.

I suspect the OP is a little bitter with GW2.

I am prety sure everyone complaining about condition damage are refering to PvE, so let’s focus.

In PvE conditions are weak, they can work sure, but except in some very custom tailored events, conditions are always inferior to sheer berserkerness.

I apologize I wasn’t clear but Briz nailed it on the head. I am speaking for PvE. sPVP and WvW is just fine. Condi hurts other players really well where it seems to me, it takes forever to kill something compared to base crit/power in PvE.

Do you have any novel suggestions for this?

What do you suggest that will make condition viable in dungeon runs that will not make them even more OP in WvW and sPvP?

A good place to start is having conditions affect objects.

This is not a trinity based game, the thread title is attracting trolls, and there are plenty of other games (see: all of them.) that cater to the trinity. GW2’s problems in PvE have less to do with the lack of a trinity and more to do with design decisions for particular instances/content. Did we really need 7 pages?

DC universe had instanced housing and its been pretty successful for them. To make old/new content more interesting, they added furniture drops to most of the enemies on top of what they usually drop. They also added a collection system that once completed, would allow you to place different convenience items in your house like a mailbox or auction hall.

My point being, you can add practical function and longevity to a housing system if you get creative with its implementation. It adds sandbox type content for people that are into it and draws more people to the game which is good for people who aren’t particularly into it. Everyone wins.

And like someone else said, Swtor is getting it. Swtor.. That’s like China coming in first place in a “Freest country in the world” survey while America lags behind at number two.

Why? What’s wrong with exposing the form of breasts or legs, or skin?
When I’m doing life drawing classes, none of the people are laughing at nude models or get disgusted after seeing male genitalia.
Quite frankly I find these complaints quite childish.
Now,whether the ascetics are done good or not, that’s a different question.

Hey necro community! This is my first time making a thread, but that’s aside from the point I wanted to make. I’m sure this topic has come up before.. but I just wanted to get a new viewpoint since I haven’t seen this topic brought up.

Anyways, as we all know, every class has a special mechanic. Thief = Steal, Warrior = Adrenaline, Mesmer = Shatters, etc. etc. Anyways, all these special abilities require little to no set up. What I mean by that is that as an Elementalist, I can switch attunements freely or as a mesmer I can shatter as long as I have one clone up (or you can act as a clone if you’re traited properly).

But when I play necro, especially in PvP, I find myself being a walking target. It’s bad enough that necros have very, very limited stunbreaks/escapes, but the fact that we have to build LF to even access DS is a serious disadvantage, especially in a competitive, PvP scenario.

So my questions to the community is, is there a way to build LF prior to engaging in combat? Or, do you guys have any possible solutions that ANet could implement that could (not increase the rate at which LF is generated, that could be seen as OP) allow necros to at least begin a fight with 25%-35% DS? I hate starting a PvP match or just roaming in WvW, getting attacked, and just having to soak up dmg until I can build just enough LF to mitigate the dmg from one attack.

Don’t wanna sound like I’m QQing, just wanna get feedback from my fellow necros.

Use ambient creatures in WvW to build your LF, usually there’s quite a bit of them around the starting point of your server. For Spvp, either use the summon/dismiss golem trick or log into WvW. :P

But sPvP in GW2 is just so generic, boring, and at times, frustrating that I cannot associate any memorable qualities with it. Any e-sports ambitions this game seems to have are absolutely misguided in my book because sPvP is the least attractive aspect of GW2 by a long shot.

Exactly. The last thing I’d ever do to recommend this game to a friend is bring up Spvp. This isn’t because I have special preferences towards WvW/PvE or any sense of factionalism, its because the fun factor in spvp seems to appeal only to a very niche crowd. Adding goodies and rewards to spvp doesn’t fix the underlying problems of the gamemode and certainly won’t sustain any short term numbers you manage to lure in.

  • The dungeon finder can be found in the friends/social menu.
  • WvW titles, Spvp titles, legendaries, AP and ascended gear are built in long term goals. You can also create your own.
  • This forum has a guild recruitment sub.
  • Social dependencies don’t really exist, at least not at the level of SWG.
  • The economy/market can be extremely profitable for those who do their homework and provide a quick 2g-3g per day to those who don’t.

It just seems rather subjective to imply that the bonus lacks any value or advantage because of how small or “negligible” it is, but if it is as you say and the bonus is of no real consequence — why not put troubled minds at peace and remove it all together? All the same, I’m not really advocating for action either way. I’m more concerned with what precedence this will set.

I really didn’t expect this thing to be so popular.

As a necromancer desperate for a fashion statement that screams “I raise the dead from the grave”, I’m not surprised at its popularity. Coming by dark-themed armor is fairly difficult with all the demons, fairies and trenchcoats having a monopoly on armor designs.

Nope, its all surface deep crap. Honestly though, that pretty much describes all the story content in this game. The only memorable character in this game is Treherne, and its because he’s a particularly loathsome character. He should have been the true villain of the living story.

Honestly, they don’t need to dignify this nonsense with a response. The amount of kittening over a pick that grants you the equivalent of an extra 40 COPPER per 5 swings is at best hilarious, and more generally, depressingly sad. The scale of this “reward” is less than that of buying a booster-pack, or the potential rewards of black lion chests, both of which have been available on the gemstore since launch.

What is unfair about 40 extra copper from an occasional node. Between theexistence of this pick, the fact that very few people will ever want the stats these items make, and the home instance nodes, the prices of these sprocket things is never going to be material in any way.

Even the most casual player should be offended at the notion that this completely immaterial “bonus” is in any way an “unfair advantage” that someone has over them.

So an unfair advantage is only that if its a big advantage? More importantly I think what people are worried about is if this will set a precedence. Anet will keep erasing the line and seeing what the players are willing to accept and what Anet can get away with.

if mobs drops 1 in 3 times then at 300% magic find you should always get an item.
that’s how it has been explained according to what i have read.

Despite the fact that we can use in-game currency to purchase this pick (which is the only thing preventing this from being a straight p2w item), I still feel incredibly uncomfortable with it being sold. Node or no node, this item seems to be better than any pick in the game. I hope Anet isn’t considering abandoning their “cosmetic only” approach to the gemshop. I’m not really advocating for action one way or the other, but this certainly is troubling in my opinion.

The idea is thematically important ofc. Necromancers having very high health fits well, especially compared to the pure powerhouses fantasy lore displays for elementalism-wielding mages, who in turn are rather frail.

The underlying problem with trying to build mage classes based on lore is that in every MMO I’ve played, the mage classes usually get balanced to keep the frailty without the superior damage, even if they start out matching lore. This is even done to the point that they always re-brand the mage classes at some point (or even multiple points), and in many cases, render the classes inferior.

Necromancers usually stick closer to lore, but only because it balances the fact that they generally also follow lore by sacrificing health to cast many of their spells. This is not the case in GW2, so there is no particular reason why they need so much HP relative to others, particularly considering they get death shroud.

Necromancer was intended to be an attrition class (lol), thus the high amount of health. If you’re really upset about different skills that can increase ones effective HP, you might wanna direct your rage towards thief, guardian and warrior.

As long as I’m still enjoying the game and my Necromancer, keep playing it. They won’t suddenly see that everyone stopped playing Necros and BOOM realize that we aren’t happy with balance.

They do realize we aren’t happy, and in general they understand what we aren’t happy about. That doesn’t mean they can fix it over coffee break tomorrow, or even that they agree with you, but they do know where the community stands on most large issues.

And they think the community is wrong. From what I’ve heard from one of my friends who does testing for the game, they don’t seem to care too much about what we think, and worse then that they seem to think that we are completely wrong on all accounts that don’t agree with their “vision”.

Game developers who are vein? Preposterous!

I’m not so invested in the game that I’m willing to protest with my time. If things don’t improve, I’ll simply leave the game for an extended period of time (much like I have been doing over the months) and play something else.
