It aint condition burst, but you can keep an enemy close with immob and slick shoes alot while placing lotta condis on him with mainly bombs (Fire and Concussion). Provides also nice burning damage and surviveability.
Its just a preference tho

thieves have a stunbreak trap. just sayin.

i’d rather it work immediatly on drop though.
and you already know it would go on frost trap, because too strong for the other traps barring a cd change.

The thief stunbreak is only usable when its laid down. Therefore I’d suggest the next:
Ice trap:
Lay down a trap.
If not triggered :
Break stun and gain frost aura. Trap is destroyed.
If triggered:
Gain the option to teleport to the trap placing a chilling fields and creating an ice blast (similar to ele dagger 3). Breaks stun.

This would give the player also frost aura, being defensiv, and punishing enemies while you recover from your lockdown.
Only thing is they have to give it fancy animation

So I’ve been wondering. Classes are designed to have weaknesses. Thus engineer and revenant are relatively weak to conditions.
But what are weaknesses from other classes? I just cannot figure out elementalist, but also for necro or warrior I can’t really find out their weaknesses in combat.

Struggling to choose a class

Actually I’ve seen people say that necro is extremely selfisch but it really is not.
Necro support mainly lies on removing conditions from allies and situationally heal allies. They are also very strong is resurrecting allies.
I’ve been able to stay whole teamfights in life force because of unholy martyr and minions that remove the conditions to enemies. You can be very tanky while having quite some dps!

What’s the point of reporting bugs?

We’ve been telling them for over 3 years that, for example, Fire Aura is bugged and doesn’t give the 20% reduced condition duration that its tooltip states. Yet they didn’t fix the ability, they didn’t change the tooltip, they didn’t even acknowledge the bug.

Arenanet bugtracking is beyond awful.

Giving up before even trying is kinda low. Elite specs are of great importance for anet, even with all the negative feedback. Now we give them a list and its up to then if they use it or not.

Hey guys!

I couldnt find a topic on this but I want to discuss taunt with you.
It seems to me like a nice condition, but what is bothering me is that you cannot evade or block taunt, which you actually can with most other Control Effects.

The ranger can taunt every 15 seconds, which is already a pity but okay. There is no way of predicting a ranger taunt, since it activates almost immediatly when clicking F2.

So is there counter play to this in terms of avoiding it? Getting out of range doesnt seem like so much of an actual counter to me since its hard to predict.
How do you think about this?

As an engineer here I always make sure to have condi clear on my build through sigils (generosity/purity) and meladru or lyssa runes.
These can really save the day and you will deel much more secure

Actually I think the soundsless are invulnerable to mordremoth. This because it is the dragon of mind, could mean that he corrupts them through mind control: in sylvari case the dream. But since soundsless are not connected anymore to the dream it would make them invuln.

That seems to be a wrong theory. Aerin and Scarlet were both soundless (well.. disconnected from the dream anyway, they weren’t the same as the other soundless) and they were the first to be corrupted by Mordremoth (at least, as far as we know).

What seems to be the case is that defiance against corruption is determined by 1) strong will, 2) connection to the dream, 3) a strong pale tree and 4) distance from Modremoth.

I know that that is the most logical explaination, but some things keep bothering me:
Sylvari are born from the pale tree and thus are not directlty created by mordremoth. If they indeed are creations of him, that would mean the pale tree is a creation of him. But then how does it protect the sylvari/itself? Did ventari already know it was made by a Dragon maybe?

Next to that, maybe I just want it to be that unlogical, I like complex stories whom are unexpected

Okay let me just throw in my [b] opinion [\B] in on this:

PU is okay on burst mesmers, since they are squishy anyway and have to get out of stealth to deal their damage to you. Its their form of defense, just like a thief.
On a condi mesmer my opinion is rotated. Their clones will deal strong ammounts of damage while they can remain in stealth. Sure your scepter 3 and shatter 2 reveal, but its burst condi and you can play passive condi by summoning clones in stealth. This is an unhealthy gameplay.

Anyway it remains an opinion and I do not claim its overpowered, just unhealthy/ skill cap too low in relation to the results.

You have several traits that proc on crit, giving enemy conditions. However with carrion you will barely be critting. Therefore I’dd suggest you either way take rabid, or find a way to gain fury or a bit more precision

PS. Taking rabid would also result in more condi damage because earth trait give 10% of toughness to condi

Next to that your build doesnt have condi removal, and you will be dead quickly because of that. Personally I would swap out arcane for water, but not sure since alot people seem to take arcane as mandatory in builds. I dunno, never liked arcane personally.

Evasive arcanas cd is per attunement not global..it doesnt matter if you dodged in fire 1 sec ago it will still work in water
Mesmers and thieves have boon strip and on demand interrupts.It doesnt matter if you use a 60s armor of earth the thief can just steal from you..
I insist conditions are the least problem these builds have

Ok to be more specific since i dont have anything to do atm
How is that build gonna put pressure to enemies in a 2vs2 or 3vs3 when it needs to be close range to do damage but is so squishy and vulnerably to cc and burst?
Without lightning flash or invuln what is the builds answer to stealth openers?What are you gonna do when a mesm and thief organize a burst against you that can 100 to 0 you?
What is the mobility of the spec?Is it high enough to even be considered a viable roamer?
Can it even 1vs1 effectively any meta bruiser build ?
If it cant teamfight in the presence of mesmers and thieves and also cant 1vs1 tanky dps builds(like dd ele) what is its purpose?
Without arcane you dont even have the support classic FA has cause elem attunement protection and focus air skill alone outclass it.

Hahaha, the meta D/D is protecting me tbh in teamfights, I dont get focussed. Making it really really easy to kite This build heals allies alot too, protects them, making me the last target Next to that I dunno, I just didnt stumble upon very dangerous situations in even teamfights tbh. It looks bad on peper maybe ye, but in practice its good

Yep, all scepter auto-attacks are in serious need of buffs.

All of them need to have their cast times reduced, and their base damage values improved.

Ice Shards and Stone Shards need faster projectile speed and lower projectile flight arcs. YOU CAN OUTRUN THESE WITH JUST SWIFTNESS! It’s inexcusable.

Shatterstone needs to be completely reworked. It simply does not have a payoff that comes anywhere close to justifying its long windup. It could pulse Chill while winding up, and be a Blast finisher.

The beautiful thing is, with just an auto attack QoL pass, Scepter could become much more viable as either a burst weapon, or as a condi weapon.

And while we’re at it, we could use a change to Churning Earth too…it’s pretty useless in PvP.

Don’t forget lightning arc… Award us for comepleting the whole cast, for example strike a foe with a blinding strike or whatever. Or a (Lesser) lightning strike when completed.

When you play fresh air it condi cleanse is not your first priority..
In all cases arcane >water in pvp.You could have dropped that ineffective runeset and picked some superspeed or anything else,or a blood/energy sigil instead of the might one and you would do more damage ..if you had evasive arcana,elem attunement,fury on swap and some arcane shield for practically no tradeoffs ..since you could still dodge roll in water.
Thieves and mesmers will kill you way before any condi will.If it didnt happen so far its probably because you didnt face any serious player

Any Mesmer and Thief is laughable to kill since Overloads hit through stealth xD. You obviously haven’t played with overloads yet because then you would know that overload air + stability kills a nearby stealted burst enemy within an eyewink(With all respect tho).
Next to that evasive arcana is not good in my opinion. If you dodge once because of incoming burst while you are in fire you can set on cooldown making it useless to swap to water and dodge. Because of 10s cooldown it feels unreliable.
When it comes to runes, the only thing I did was swap survivability from sigils to traits, and used more offensive ones that buff me.

Next to that…Look further than traditional… The fact that I say fresh air is just because the trait is a core mechanic of this build, not that I imply to copy the Meta FA build into tempest. What I made is very very different from it and is a whole different playstyle. So don’t say like “Ughh you have to play fresh air like this”, Because it’s the name of a trait, not the traditional burst build!

The only thing I aggree with that could use a slight buff is shatterstone, but doesn’t have to be big.
Next to Phoenix already does huge damage and has really strong utility: Condi removal+Vigor.
I think Autoattacks are more important to help out tbh.

A few things I found odd or could be improved on your build.

Since Strength sigil now provides 2stacks of might instead of 3 and you’re swapping a lot less for overloads it makes the sigil very weak and inefficient to be used with your build.

Marauder amulet provides main stat power and crit chance (really high crit chance for an amulet). Bonus crit chance in air attunement only applies while in air which is bad in a normal FA build, but makes a tiny bit of sense for overloading. The shocking aura trait is still much better for surviving and provides dmg. You also chose sigil of accuracy which would also provide minimal benefits when you already have high crit chance. Higher crit chance does not provide a marginally larger dps increase.

You took fury + swiftness on auras even though you’re only running one shout that provides an aura to maintain the fury upkeep on the air overload. So you’re getting very little fury on your overload.

To top it off you have no invul and very little protection uptime on an already squishy build. Warhorn has terrible synergy with a scepter and no instant cast skills to aid in the overload. You’d also want blink no matter what variant of FA you play in pvp. It’s mobility, an escape, burst, burst set up, you can blink through walls and cliffs and securing stomps.

If you had to choose between arcana and water only, your best bet is arcana. Especially because flat stats have been removed from trait lines.

A lot has changed for returning players. It’s definitely worth looking into old patch notes and keep up to date. It’ll help you with your builds.

I took strength sigil which is on crit might. You are thinking of sigil of battle
Next to that I want high fury uptime to make my overloads do much more reliable burst damage. I always say: power is for sustain, crit is for burst.
I also get auras on overloading, when being crit hit, from my rune and from health threasolt (tempest gm). This total gives reliable fury uptime.
Protection is my way of defense. I gain it from the rune, any overload and more on earth OL, armor of earth and warhorn 4 (which gives now 8,5s). Also a nice total prot uptime.
For survivability air shout is really good to disengage. Combine disengaging with water heals and overload and you can quite safely get away. Ive had no problems with that.
Also water > arcane since water traits give me another aura, but more importantly only way of condi cleanse.

I hope it sums my decisions up and I am not trying to neglect that it could be better, but just explaining my build, I hope it clarifies

i don’t want to be rude… but you were not facing a single competent player in those clips. any player with a bit of knowledge would have interrupted the air overload or simply killed you because you run no invul on (i assume) a marauder build.

also, staying 9 seconds in air is hardly what i regard as a “fresh air playstyle” in which you usually stay in air for maybe 1-2s.

the concept of tempest which encourages attunement camping just doesn’t work with the concept of a dps spec that constantly switches through attunements. i posted this several times, and i did post it this bwe again, if they want to make it viable for fresh air then they need to enable overload casting with attunement swap so that it doesn’t cancel the channel. if you can actually channel the air overload and then switch to a different attunement to reset the air cooldown while it’s still channeling, now that would be better. but there’s always that problem with interrupts or dodging. it just won’t work against players with a brain.

Thank you for your reply first of all I trigger armor of earth when overloading air so I do not get interrupted.
Next to that take a look at fresh air from another perspective. Use it as you damage source, swap out of it when you need something from another attunement and get instantly back in air.
The fact that I use the trait for an untraditional purpose does not implicetly mean it doesnt work, I`ve proven that.
Attunement camping was always a very weak things to do, but it got buffed now. It is new, and you are used to the old an assume it doesnt work. Different doesnt mean bad.
The players I faced were actually good. I got killed too ofcourse but i dont place that in a video. Ive done tons of matches more with great results which I didnt record. As I said: give it a chance before turning it down because it has a very different playstyle

Is Sand Squall bug real? Has someone tested that WITHOUT Arcane spec? Because you know Arcane increases boon duration by 15% or something…

I’ve been rtesting it without any duration buffs or anything. Always got 7s. I hope it’s the tooltip thats wrong tho, and not the duration

Lost Time: Too powerful or not?

Hey guys!

I just wanted to discuss something with you: The trait lost time. If you don’t know what I am talking about, here is the wiki page about it: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lost_Time

In have very mixed feelings about this trait. In power builds this trait is huge. It can proc really fast when autoattacking with greatsword for example. However where slow can be very useful too, namely bunker builds, it isn’t too shiny since you need 5 crits.

How do you feel about it? :S

In the trait overhaul they mentioned we are like the master of blasts. So what if blasting a field also removes a condition? Would make tank builds better since you can combine it with soothing detonation.

Back to topic, yes we will have disadventage, but hey… devs did give us back bomb radius for example. They do listen, so I do faith in them

They might have been working on forge for quite some time so less bugs might appear…

Hey guys! Several bugs have been found on the tempest specialisation, and I tought it would be a good idea to bundle them here. I am placing this here and not in bug forum since it seems more appropiate since we all have the elementalists here. If I am wrong, please move it bugs (@devs).

  • Rebound : When used with a utility skill, it removes the rebound effect and not lower cooldown.
  • Feel the burn : Doesn’t give the allies 50% of the time the visual effect of the aura.
  • Wildfire : Combo fields doesn’t work properly: For more information on this go to this link https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Wildfire-Combo-Bugs/first#post5460118
  • Shock and aftershock : Immobilize problems with overloading. More information at https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/elementalist/Shock-and-Aftershock-bug (could not find confirmation)
  • Unstable Conduit : Tooltip on overcharges show that the aura is 4s, whilst it is 5s.
  • Overload Air : Interrupts enemies in the AoE like static field without any visible CC effect. Effect in tooltip is missing.
  • Wash the pain away : Does not correctly show healing ammount: Only shows first pulse healing. Does not show the healing for allies.
  • Water Globe : Combo fields skill fact missing.
  • Overload Fire : creates only one whirl finisher (Unknown if it’s bug or not).
  • Sand Squall : Protection in tooltip is wrong, actually is 7s (Or 3,5s and then doubled).
    Also the blast finisher is instantly applied, making it possible to interrupt it for kitten cd blast.
  • Lightning Orb : Can only be cast in a cone in front of you. If this is intended, the marker should not be green but red when cast in your back.

This is all I could find. Couldn’t really test things that affect allies. If you find anything, please post it here and I will place it in the list

I like the idea of bleeding damage growing. It would be the best imo to make it grow exponentially slightly. Rewarding a player for having very high ammount of bleeds on the enemy.

Hey guys!

I have lately been noticing that my camera keeps clipping into the roof of the clocktower point. This happens easier when the roof is half destroyed. It really annoys me since it makes it very hard to follow targets and land AoE’s .
Previously I haven’t had any problems with it. I do not like changing my camera position for it since I like to have an overview.

How is it for you?

Okay I am going to get so much hate for this but I am still going to say this between all the salty-ness out here:

I love the tempest.

I’ve been doing nothing else but playing it this weekend in PvP and I’ve had great success! Made myself a fresh air tempest build. It offer the same, if not more, damage and burst with much more team based utility and personal survivability!

Now do not get me wrong, it needs polishing. Some traits feel out of place, some things just feel a bit too weak. But overall I love the feeling of it, the playstyle and the results are good. I finally feel elementalist has something new to offer instead of playing mindlessly D/D and kite around.

Anyway, just my compliments to the designer team of this specialisation from me. I like it.
