I personally have very mixed feelings about this. If they would give Blast Gyro the stats from the Scrapper you could indeed do alot more damage. However when you play a condition build it will become useless.

I actually think it is fine right now, maybe slightly higher crit chance would be nice. Currently it seems to be critting around 20% of the times, critting for about 4.5K.

They should rather improve the Gyro itself. Problems right now is that you can’t even use it when you are on a ledge since the gyro is having trouble flying down there. They should make it like the Ventari Tablet. That can be moved in a straight line anythwere as long as it’s in range.

I really like the idea of Ventari, and I would love to actually play with it effectively…However that’s currently impossible.
Energy costs are too high and cast time on moving the tablet is waay too painfull. The delay on the healing utility is also too long and it’s AoE is too small. In PvP where players move around alot you can’t really heal them due to the high delay and small AoE.

I do expect that these key skills will get a nerf. However if they do this, they must buff other things. The reason why Shiro/Glint is so strong atm is because they offer you defensive skills while remaining very offensive without investing in them.

In my opinion Revenant is unbalanced, not because I die sometimes because of UA or whatever, I don’t cry about that. But rather because the roles of specific legends are not good. Let’s clarify:

Glint : Supposed to be the boon master. I think Glint does a well job at this, but at the same time it offers way more kiting than Jalis. Shield is a reason why you can kite so well in Glint, but also the facets are insane.
Shiro : Now Shiro is supposed to be the dps legend. And it is. However the problem in my opinion is that playing shiro gives relatively few risk. Good balance in my opinion is that when you play high dps you need higher risk. Currently Shiro heals is very strong, very very high mobility and a strong stun break.
Jalis : Jalis is supposed to be the tanky kind of Legend. However it doesn’t go very well. You get condi spammed and you still die. I really like the idea of having taunt on a tank Legend, taking damage that allies would have taken instead. However it does miss alot of defensive capabilities. Stun breaker with 50 energy is way too much for example.
Malyx : In my opinion this is one of the best designed Legends. It comes with very very good conditions as it’s supposed to be with few defensive capabilities (Resistance). Playing Malyx is risky but strong. How it’s supposed to be.
Ventari : Okay Ventari is a cool design in my opinion, but it doesn’t work due to too high energy costs and cast times and high delay on tablet skills. There is some major insight needed here.

Conclusion
I think that ArenaNet should not nerf weapon skills much but rather should change Legends. Give DPS builds more risk and tanky builds less risk.

How is that ego boosting? It is just a question. If you are talking about rev downed skill 1, you can’t let it automaticly attack. So it’s no autoattack. Just clarifying that.

hey guys!

I am going to be honest with you: I like to play with Ventari. I am not stating here that it does not need improvement, as a matter of fact I have the same opinion as most of you guys.

However there is this one bug that just keeps annoying me soooooo much…. I can’t kitten summon the tablet while immobilized!

Please fix this asap! (Don’t wait untill you make ventari better)

The issue isn’t Shrapnel, so much as it is that Bleeding, like many other conditions, is just really far behind burning damage and in comparison is pretty weak.

There is a core of truth, but keep in mind that condition builds can constantly apply burning. Throwing grenades is a good fill-up attack if all other condi appliers are on cooldown. This is where you can keep up some more sustain with bleeding.

Having a 1.5k damaging bleeding ticks is more worthwhile than you think

Assuming that you can throw grenades every 1 second:
The chance of proccing this trait is once every 6.6666 grenades. This means that you can expect indeed 1 stack of bleeding every 2, sometimes 3 throws.
However the bleeding of the trait is 15 seconds. In 15 seconds you can throw 45 grenades. This means you can expect 6 to 7 stacks of bleeding. Take firearms with that and thats 9 stacks.
This is pretty good overal.

However on other explosions such as bombs it is waaay too bad. This is one of the problems in the explosions line. If you are not taking mortar of grenades, you wont have a good grandmaster.

Do note however bombs like fire bomb and smoke bomb do actually have a chance of applying bleeds on their pulses, but still lackluster.

My propesed change is to just make it 15% on nades, 30 % on all other explosions.

Second a disclaimer: I am not a fan of the ‘meta’ stuff and I am not ecouraging this with this post.

Okay I hope I’m safe to post now: I think since the DPS of both hammer and rifle are pretty close to eachother they both offer their uses.

In fights that require heave pressure I think rifle is better off. This is due to alot of dodging. Altho hammer has a block that allows you to keep DPS’ing, rifle offers you better burst. This is better in situations where you have to go in ‘defensive mode’ a bit more often.

Anyway, thats just how I feel about the hammer/rifle comaprison

Hey guys,

I know this has been reported on reddit and the player-helping-players subforum, but I couldnt find it here, where it would be most appropiate. It is about the Le-energy converter you get after the achievment.

You can buy essences in each maguuma map to unlock a new tab, however it is locked again after daily reset. Now it seems really weird to trade 125 of 1 currency to get 10 of another.

Any dev to confirm this is a bug or being intended? Or will there be a fix soon?

I honostly load em up with conditions. If I see they have plague signets I dont apply burning to prevent to get myself killed.
When they go in shroud I make sure there is distance. Stealth and soft CC on them helps alot since they cant really cleanse it. I tend to use sustain when they are in shroud, be more defensive. When they pop out I unleash my wrath

Edit: Sorry I didnt really come to your build. Reapers easily counters those kinds of builds so yeah thats a pity one. I recommend using skills like net shot in their shroud. Other than that try to play defensive and slowly drain their life force.

Okay to start off: How do you feel with it? Getting good results? Then it works for you.
Theoraticly and based on my opinion I do have some critics:

  • AED is in a pretty horrible place right now. The toolbelt has a huge cast time and low results and the healing skill itself has a big cooldown.
  • As for runes I’dd recommend rune of the pack. It gives nice Fury uptime too but gives some extra precision through last bonus.
  • I think you will get more benefit out of your sigils if you take sigil of energy (Since there is no vigor in your build)/leeching for more sustain but also damage or maybe even accuracy. Intelligence doesnt make that much sense since you do not have burst damage.

Hope you can use my commentary, but keep playing what you like!

Pretty sure they stealth fixed it in a patch a couple days ago, since my conditions last for the duration the tooltip says with a Wanderer amulet equipped since then.

It is not fixed yet. Try testing it. Tooltip has always been showing the correct numbers, it just doesnt apply

Leaderboard bug for me?

I have a question about my leaderboard.
I play alot of PvP. Theres is not much else I do in Gw2. I am normally not interested in leaderboards and that kind of stuff, but I decides to take a look.
It states that I played with my mesmer character, which I rarely do, played 4 games, 3 losses and 1 win, and says it has last been updated at 5/14/2015.

I mean…This cant be right?
Am I missing something or is my leaderboards bugged?

Hey guys!

In the past 2 hrs I has 2 crashes where the game would tell me, when I try to log back on on my character, “network error. Please check you Internet connection and try again”. However my internet is working perfectly!

Help?:D

ps. after about 20 mins it works again. Did speed test and everything works. So it definetly is not MY connection.

Any toss elixir apply to friends… protection, stability, might, regen, vigor and fury

Stealth is aoe too, only elixir utilitys is egoistic

I know, but there are already plenty of other sources that apply it in a more efficient way. Tossing elixirs is ground targeted which can be quite annoying IMO. Next to that things like elixir gun or healing turret offer more for your team.

But again, it is preferce. I am not saying it is a bad build, its good. I am just giving my opinion about from my perspective

It is a good but ‘egoïstic’ build (Not trying to be mean here). Toolkit for example is missing in your build. A block can be invaluable and a well timed pull easily shrinks down your enemy’s zerg a person.
The might you are giving is only applies to yourself, which is not very beneficial. I’dd personally rather a build that offers a bit lower dps, but more team utility.
However keep in mind that this is my personal opinion, and if it plays well for you, be happy

Okay from my perspective:

In my opinion is Metabattle a site that is not good for the community. Let me explain:
As a new player : I often see new people getting redicted to metabattle when they ask a question about a build. New players get very easily locked in this ‘meta’ and thus do not discover everything a class has to offer.
As a veteran : As a veteran using Meta builds is in my opinion just stupidity. Most metabuilds can be outshined by other builds, or at least little changes to the build to make it better. The metabuilds are generally easy to play builds with high effectiveness. However there are loads of builds out there that are even more effective but need more skill. Trying your own builds improves your skill much more and allowes you to play and test every single bit of the class. Metaplayers…well they just progress there skill much slower.

However! I do acknowledge there is no reason to ‘demonstrate’ against a site like this. As mentioned multiple times above it is a matter of sharing builds and playing whatever you want. So do not take this post as a thread of negative thing about metabattle. It is just an opinion and I respect all opinions of those who actually like metabattle.

It is indeed a good build however it does have the adventage that it still is not very good against condition builds and enemies with chain CC. Also high stability uptime on the enemy can give you a big disadventage in the fight.

However when you are not fighting an enemy who has this, its very good.

My proposed gyro changes:

  • Medic Gyro: Seems fine to me.
  • Blast Gyro: Increase movement speed at least.
  • Shredder Gyro: Make it start whirling again after its interrupted instantly. A general change to whirl projectiles should be that they become homing. This would help alot. A small buff to Lightning bolts would be nice too.
  • Bulwark: Doesnt need change IMO
  • Purge Gyro: Better tracing AI would solve alot. Maybe let toolbelt rip off boons.
  • Sneak Gyro: Very good gyro, no change needed.

With my following statement I am not implying I don’t wont to see changes damage wise to blast gyro but rather give it some usability:
I use blast gyro in my P/P condi build. First of all the stunbreak is good and with the trait it heals for about 1.3k without healing power. Blast gyro itself is extremely useful in my opinion in condition builds. It takes about 1.5s to load an enemy up with conditions and then I use blast gyro. Because of this the enemy will be launched locking them out of the fight for about 2.5 seconds. In these 2.5 seconds your conditions keeps ticking, easily dealing 7K damage. To prevent the enemy from stunbreaking I use several other interrupts in my build which I use before I use BG.
To top it off: You can use Blast Gyro in any direction. This means it can also be used when you are being chased.

hey guys!

I have been playing with the Wanderer’s amulet lately and I figured the condition duration doesn’t seem to be working. I have heard rumors of this before somewhere but could not track them down anywhere on the forums so I decided to make a thread about it.

Here is the following situation:
I am an engineer so I have many traits that bring up the durations of my pistol skills. I am not using one of these traits when experimenting or any other condition modifiers.

Fragmentation shot has a base bleeding duration of 3 seconds. Whenever I equip the Wanderer’s amulet my condi duration goes up by 37.33%. This means that the bleeding should go up by about 1/3 of it’s duration so 1 second. And thats correct, the tooltip states that the bleeding is 4 seconds now. However when I constantly attack and hover my mouse over the bleeding stack it says 2 seconds, which is just the base bleeding of 3 seconds.
I have tested this on the other skills too and the results were the same.

Am I missing something or is it indeed bugged? If this is bugged, could it get a fix ASAP?

I tested it around 40 times, it critted 7 times. Bringing it down to about 17% crit chance. It is not a reliable testing tho, should be done about 200 times at least.

Happend to me at the 3rd one. Restarted it. Now it asks me for poison mastery again. So I reloaded map and could start again. However now it bugged at 2nd one. Repeated, bug first one, now 2nd one again

Best expression I’ve seen in a long time on engi forum. On a serious note: It’s so sad now Also in PvP it can take some time to run out of the circle if you don’t want to waste a dodge on it. But now I can’t see the circle belongs to an orbital strike Please fix it.

On a bonus-note I have a suggestion they could make: Dont place a laser beam on the ground, but just a glowing effect on the ground of an incoming beam. Once it is about to hit a beam flashes down quickly followed by the current spraklez

Feedback

The battle itself seems to be of perfect difficulty in my opinion. People who are ‘casuals’ will also manage to beat it after they know how it works. The dynamics are very fun to handle. First of all getting in the suits is alot of fun, those small challenges The main stage of beating the octovines seems a bit unbalanced. South and West always have slow progress, while east and north are extremely easy.

This event needs some coördination, but not as much as triple trouble, which seems like a perfect balance to me.

For all the people who have been talking about exploits here that Arenanet did nothing let me tell you the following story:
First of all ArenaNet is actually fighting exploits, even while building HoT. This could have been in smaller numbers, but you have to understand that it is really hard to handle players who stepped over the line, since you can’t just ban a player blindly, but have to investegate what actually happened. Talking about stepping over the line, what is the line? There is no certain line or rule about when something is an exploit and when it is not. Therefore there are people who said that the Maize Balm for example is an exploit, some didn’t think so.
Now to come at a final point, Chris’ statement about being friendly does not only apply when it comes to HoT, but also on the forums right now. There are a lot of people being very salty. If you have critiques about this topic, keep it civil instead of ragingly starting to blame them for WW2 or whatever.

Everybody in this thread is focused on the wrong questions. The question was not, if it is fair, that ranger can still command his pets, it was why.

The answer is most likely much simpler: it just happened from a technical point of view.

I can imaging, that it comes from the difference between doing an ability yourself and commanding your pet to do so.

This build is essiantly about buffing you team dps by alot. First of all the might, which you get every time you shatter. The ammount of might you get is not too big, but it still is nice.
But the most important part is the quickness. You get 4s of quickness when you shatter with all illusions, and it does not have a cooldown. Because of this you could be able to do the following: Spawn clones -> Well of Action -> Tides of time -> Shatter -> Signet of Inspiration. When you have done this roation you could keep going on with shattering and place a time warp and well of recall. This will still give you and your allies quickness and recharge you skills faster, so you can earlier start sharing quickness again.

How do you guys think this will do in dungeons?

Almost forgot to mention, as a shatter you can also use continuum split for even more quickness

It’s to make up for the fact that rangers are the only class that can have their profession mechanic shut down for 60 seconds by an opposing player.

This does indeed make some sense. But in all honestly, it doesn’t seem like a way to ‘fix’ it. Its like breaking a kids favorite teddybear and giving him some candy just in the hope to forget it.

So I personally am annoyed by the fact a ranger can use his F skills in downed state. I mean being able to taunt, fear, swap, fear, downed F4 after eachother annoys me, even when having a few stab. Now I am not here to complain as it may seem, I am seeking the knowledge: WHY??

Bumping this, I am greatly in favor of this. In the first year of game release I played about 50% of my matches. Those were all very bad as I was trolling around with the most idiot/uneffective builds possible. These days I play with some PvP friends, getting great (I mean GREAT) results (About 80% wins). However my rate is still 49.98%. This just hurts my eyes :S

I like the taste of rune of the sun and moon, but when it comes down to balance I don’t think it would work.

he only one I am in favor of is Rune of Exposure. I feel like we could use some dedicated vulnerability builds, that fill in the roll of making the enemy vulnerable. To do this however alot of passive vuln has to be removed IMO.

3 sec "behind you back" CD needs to go

i kinda like it although i am affected by it several times a match. it brings another layer of gameplay into fights. i hate it to miss rifle #4 on my engineer in a crucial moment but then again that person just outplayed me by positioning him-/herself behind me in that short moment to prevent me from doing was i’m about to do.

That’s not outplaying. That’s pure mechanic advantage. A thief can spam AA and troll you around in circle while you have to constantly deal with this 3sec CD. If you run behind its back and the thief misses its melee, it wouldn’t suffer from anything. It makes the game super skewed and it makes no sense.

It is actually. Its a matter of smart gameplay that can be avoided/predicted by yourself. Image: You are casting a skill and you get interrupted, skill is not casted but still gets cooldown. Is that mechanic adventage? No: its smart gameplay.

Ye tried this several times. In the beginning I excpected myself to just miss or something, but after looking in logs etc it is certain it doesn’t reveal. However the current stealthing in PvE is problematic (Speaking about mobs).

It would be cool to see such counterplay in some places to make reveal more worth it in PvE. Also it could help if a mob tries to actually reposition itself instead of staying on the same spot, giong defensive in stealth.

I like it, it sells the blast gyro for me. The one thing I really miss with hammer or pistol engi is the overcharged shot from rifle – Blast gyro adds that back, and now gives you a stun break on a moderate cooldown so you’re not totally wasting a utility slot.

And I know everyone says that throw mine is the same as blast gyro, but I think the longer cooldown is a valid tradeoff for a bigger CC (launch versus knockback) and arguably better (or at least more versatile) toolbelt skill.

And yes, blast gyro can be destroyed or is at least more visible than mine, but it can track your target – so while someone might be able to blink/shadowstep/flash out of the way of a mine throw, the gyro can still buzz around and home in on the target.

I think you are right about this sir (or m’am). I think it will be mainly good for running hammer since hammer already offers you defensive capabilities so you do not have to pick those with utilities.

They are adding it to the blast gyro toolbelt. It is in the Scrapper changes after BW3. They edited it, its in the bottom of the post.

I personally have mixed feelings about it, but maybe it will make blast gyro a bit more appealing to pick.

Well of souls: crack open the ground to release souls of the dead. If a soul hits an ally: apply stability and 2% damage buff for 6s. If a soul hits an enemy: apply 5 vuln (6s) and weakness. Add some damage.
Would work as a meteor shower….but then as a well from the ground going upwards…
