Penalty for losing on purpose?

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Since Team Q and solo Q were merged and now it is ranked/unranked, in both arenas new “trolls” have been spotted, constantly throwing games and playing with “I play however I want” attitude. It is becoming really difficult to play a decent game without having full premade teams to prevent such trolling. These people do everything the opposite of the pvp game mode stands for.

From not capturing points to purposely throwing SR/mass invisibility while capturing an empty node to simply running around the map without killing or fighting at all. They either block chat or repeat “I paid to have fun” types of sentences and lose the match on purpose. And there is no way to report them since they are not botting or selling golds. Shouldn’t there be penalty for those behaviors? Soon we might even have people that team up on purpose to troll people unless compensated otherwise.

Why punish the majority?

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

It’s because anet simply does not want to cater pvp to majority of playerbase. Even now I just had a match with premade vs new player who just entered his first pvp match. It’s sad but also the most effective way to slim down the playerbase and keep attention to those few who strive for “esports”. The majority of players are considered as useless and dumb by anet and that is why they decided to reduce pvp, wvw and dungeon/fractal playerbase by not creating more contents.

Solo PvP vs team PvP ranked matchs

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

I don’t ever solo Q ranked matches now because of how terrible people are with rotations. Sure they maybe amazing at 1v1s and 2v2s, but they are kept getting out rotated and leave nodes for fights rather than defending it. There were countless times when my team lost because 1 person decided that defending a node is “unmanly” and “weak”. While people do watch videos that tell them the strength and weakness of their characters and strategies against certain enemies, they don’t pay attention to rotations.
In fact when you solo Q, you should be losing against pre-made unless you are absolutely destroying them in fights or hoping that your team knows how to rotate, which is pretty rare.

Actually this happens more than often. I do okayish when on ranked matches such as always having greater than 50% win loss ratio as well as pulling my own weight. But when it comes to unranked matches, suddenly I am expected to win 1 v 3s and 1 v4s while my teammates run around like headless chickens and lose the match. I’ve actually lost 6~9 matches in a row in unranked matches and I thought it was my fault for playing unranked.

Unranked game matchmaking?

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

So far of my 16 unranked games, I’ve only won 6 games. And those are the games that I had premade party with people I know versus other premade teams. So far I am on my 7~8th loss in a row.
And so far I’ve been Qing unranked games by myself because of long Q time in ranked matches and I am now playing with people that never played pvp on my side of them team, while the opponents are either premade or extremely good. It’s more like I am now forced to carry these new people because of my MMR? Which I think it is extremely weird and impossible since I am not the best player.

Is MMR suppose to matter in unranked matches or are they just randoming teaming people?

This "Meta" has to end

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

I’m sorry in order to end this so hated zerk meta, why don’t we just place every single boss in every single dungeon as Lupi and see how it goes? Because according to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qc-h49HeqU even 5 cleric settings can kill lupi. So for those who thinks dungeon is just stack and press 1 should be able to replicate this right? This satisfy everyone, for those who wanted to run non meta, for those who can easily prove themselves in one of the most difficult bosses. Problem solved

I am actually too scared to play PvP now

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Before the patch, I used to solo Q TPvP in hopes of finding competent teammates who’s objective was to win and capture nodes. It wasn’t always great because of long waiting times, sometimes steamrolled by premade teams, and 4v5, but at least I knew that people that I play with had the winning mentality. Now I am no way a great player, just another average joe who wants to get better and win to raise my rank/skill as well as get some champion tracks done. Now after the patch, it is a disaster all over.

Now in ranked or unranked, you will see spoiled people with mindset of "I’ll have fun no matter what, so don’t tell me what to do ", such as made up builds that doesn’t work at all, maps that should not ever be in a rotation but exists purely to troll people, and horrendous matchmaking that stacks one or two classes in a same team or mix everyone up so that even good players are matched up against new players. I’ve just had several matches and they all ended in blow outs. It was either my team losing 20 to 500 or my team winning 500 to 20, which wasn’t fair for either party. Also now there is no dishonor/penalty, people just straight up leave or go afk.

The worst part is that now I am being forced into playing with and against people that do not care about pvp at all. Now it is just a big rank farm overall and there is no challenge since we already know that which team wins the first big battle takes the whole match. Basically pvp has turned from competitive node capping/strategy positions into win first battle then other team will afk.

In unranked arena, the entitled “i bought this game to play what I want” mindset dominates so strongly that there is no point of actually having a battle. People don’t want to communicate or win at all. They just play, earn some points so that they can get 500 rank points then they throw themselves at the enemy to end the match quicker. I honestly hate this new patch so much and now I’m not even sure if I want to play pvp at all.

Fractal track

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

You can have all the ascended rings/gears you want from PvP track, but in no way hell should you get fractal skins. Also for someone who mentioned fractal tonic, the chance of getting that is basically less than 0.01% https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18IHVJao5j85KOp6lBTOgO8qs4VYD3Xty-jKPZo8o-Q4/pubhtml
which is absurd. And you complain about how difficult it is to grind pvp track? Basically you are getting rewarded with rank points/new finishers, getting champion boxes without having to spend a silver while doing what you like.
For pvers, getting to 50 means already investing 200~600 gold just on armors, then grinding fractals for Agony infusions, finding the right group and learning every single encounters and to get sometimes nothing, most of times useless rings, and ascended chests that pvers already made so there is no use for it anyways.
Ah and please tell me how pve isn’t really “skill” because I haven’t seen any of those pve bashers actually participating in speed run or record runs. Learn different aspects of game, suffer through the crazy RNG.
And don’t even mention the fractal tonic because that doesn’t exist. That is more of winning the lottery for mega billions instead of working at it.

DC: No compensation for the 4 men-team?

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Just increase the amount of rank/glory points you get when you are in 4v5 situation when the match ends in loss for the remaining 4 players. Instead of giving 300~500 rank points for loss, make it 500~700. That way the economy won’t be destroyed from track rewards, players at least get some consolidation, and people will still try in 4v5 situation to get more rank points. For those who have reached level 80 aka dragon, give them a special reward exclusive to level 80 only.

[Suggestion] Dungeon revamp and ascended gear

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Dungeons isn’t where I spent most of my time, and I spent very little time in GW2 these days.
- However, when I do dungeon it’s the usual “STACK!”, “NOOBS!” and “Thx, bb.” so when I did the Aetherpath for the first time a few months back, it was a nice change of pace.
- I haven’t played all the new dungeons, and I’ve yet to lure my friends back into the game to do some of the multiplayer content with me.

I have read many a place that a revamp would be nice to all the original dungeons, but I’m not a dungeon designer. I’ll put my faith in the devs and the feedback of the hardcore dungeon community to make compelling dungeon content (and by hardcore dungeon community, I don’t mean those who stack… because that is hardly hardcore).

The idea of having revamped dungeons and new ascended gear to go alongside it was just and idea that I’d been thinking would up the original dungeons a bit – and no, I don’t mean something exactly like the Aetherblade path (though I find it more fun than many of the original dungeons) but something better and less like the Zhaitan fight…

Just out of curiosity, Veckna, what are some of the most fun, challenging and/or best dungeon mechanics you’ve encountered?

Here we go again with the exact same attitude. Please learn why people stack, and why it isn’t useful anymore, and how proper speedrun is done, participate in those, and then we can talk about revamping dungeons/stacks. Also keep in mind that same dungeons have been run over and over for 2 years, which means most of the people that do dungeons already know the general tactics.

If you really, really want challenge, dive straight in to Arah with new people and enjoy your new encounters. For those of us who do dungeon tours everyday, its the same thing over and over. We sometimes come in to PUG party and help people out, yet people so firmly believe that stacking=win without proper utilities that when they die, they kick necro/ranger or rage at everyone. So please, for the last time, learn your class, the learn the other class, actually play those classes in efficient and timely manner. Then you’ll see why stacking was useful and now not so much

I’m pretty sure even after December 2nd patch the problems will still persist because there aren’t enough players and anet is not doing a very good job at bringing players to PvP. In fact the same conquest mode and some changes in PvP would not magically increase already dwindling PvP player base. This actually goes for all WvW/PvP/and dungeoners.
Get more players in PvP first then implement these solutions.

I am a noob

TheFamster.7806

You gotta have the right mentality in PvP. Your mentality should differ from Team Q and Solo Q because they are completely different types of pvp play.

First of all in Solo Q, it is very important to understand that you will lose and the blame will be on you, no matter what. It doesn’t matter if the match was 4v5 or your teammates didn’t rotate right or anything. It is a flawed game mode filled with trolls/afkers/players, and you chose to play it despite reading on the forum such as skyhammer/afkers/etc. It is better for you mental health to convince yourself that your 4 other teammates are NPCs and that this match is about proving yourself. Don’t get mad that people aren’t doing what they are suppose to be doing, because this is all about everyone playing the way they want.

Now to more serious match, Team Q is much more civil and organized. The people who actually play Team Q are at least adept at their profession, know when/how to rotate, and competitive. It gets difficult when you Que by yourself and gets steamrolled by organized guild/groups, but in this mode, its actually a great opportunity to learn what to do and analyze how the match could have gone better. The best way to actually learn pvp is by joining a guild and playing with them, so good luck to you on that.

Leaderboards are broken as it is, so do not mind much about your win loss ratio. Think of something rewarding or look for new finishers when you play because you will not have a great time if you are pvping by yourself. While on upcoming patch Team Q and Solo Q will be mixed, you should still keep the mentality that pvp is all about you proving yourself worth instead of winning the match to lessen the frustration and pressure.

Fractal Reward Track

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

[/quote]

I play every single aspect of the game, and I respect each one.

The tracks to be honest don’t provide enough profit than PvE even with the Tier 6 mats. Sure we get transmutation stones, tomes, and scrolls, but people who don’t even PvE have no use for that. They’re not gonna level it up for WvW. The Glorius Armor? Sure it is exclusive, but it really isn’t all that great, there are better skins in PvE. (just my opinion. Also regarding dungeons, I can do dungeon runs and get more pieces than a guy finishing a Reward Track in sPvP. You guys have more access to skins through PvE, and the skins in sPvP are really not that great.

Sure but the only top players who get a “free” legendary is the winning team. Not everyone is hardcore at pvp. The people who enjoy sPvP, but not competitively, and refuse to PvE don’t get these. Not everyone can win weekly cash, and these have only been implemented recently after 2 years, unlike the updates PvE and WvW have got. Majority of these changes are for the casuals.

I’ll agree in WvW it needs a change to rewards, but thats on A-net’s side. There have been WvW changes and seasons, and sPvP is just barely starting season tests. sPvP barely got anything big until April 15th when it comes to rewards. WvW and PVE have had more updates. Maybe make the badges currency better, and a WvW track I guess similar to sPvP, but like for capturing objectives, escorts, and other stuff like that. Maybe something stricter so people can’t abuse just swapping camps and towers.

For the Fractal Track to work it needs a certain restriction and RNG setting on what to get. I can do more Fractal Runs and get more than a guy finishing 1 Track. A Track while you get things, it isn’t something that you can finish too fast. HJ has a cap, and in Solo Q you run into 4v5’s, and Team Queue if you aren’t organized you get smashed.

Sure cosmetic items dont’ really matter to Pure sPvP people, but having something to show is nice. Sure skins dont’ show skill, but i’d like my character to look nice like lets say all those PvE people, and some sort of decent look instead of the bland things. I want incentive to play for better skins/rewards. If I didn’t care about cosmetics too much, i’d play some fighting game where looks don’t matter.

The tracks provide little rewards because PvP doesn’t need gold/gear to continue. The most expensive weapons are from weapon vendors and they are couple of silvers at most. Also Fractal is a different category from dungeons and living story overall. Fractal already takes immense amount of effort in order to be good at it (memorizing lots of boss fights, RNG in battles, coordination) while having one of the worst rewards, probably worse than any PvP track at this moment. I have completed about 450 fractal runs to this date and only received 4 skins, and I am the lucky one. that is about 0.8% of getting a skin, and in order for pvp players to actually receive fractal skin, they would have to complete at least 100 runs in order for chance to acquire a skin, making the track meaningless.

And if fractal track is introduced, how is it fair for players like myself who grind many hours and gold just for fractal settings, only to be ousted by those who play pvp and receive the similar reward? Furthermore, the already existing animosity on PvP players hating PvE players will only grow more because now they have a chance to get fractal skins.

Also how will someone justify fractal track=difficulty of fractal? The mistlock ability is already too complex of a mechanic to be put in to pvp, and simply repeating track does not properly follow mistlock difficulties that other fractal runners had to go through. In short, there is no way pvp fractal track can properly reflect the difficulty of pve contents. And before you laugh at “elite pve” players, go win a tournament and actually receive something worthwhile if you are that skilled. PvE players have already proven themselves (those in speed running guilds) through and through with their record runs and guides to helping people, while pvp community generally whined and complained about lack of support/new players when in fact it demeans any newcomers.

Fractal Reward Track

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Nope as a GW2 player who plays every single game mode I am definitely against this. First of all PvP requires no money to enter. In PvE, especially case of high level fractal, people not only grind for fractal relics for rings but also gold for making ascended gear, which costs about 500g for heavy armor (cheapest) when just calculating the cost of bolts of damask. Also it is so ironic when PvP players literally bash on “elite Pve” players while wanting the same amount of gold and rewards yet keeps PvP exclusive rewards.

Also PvP players are the ones least affected by economy, since they spend literally no gold (not even for waypoint) yet still earns gears/t6 mats through champion track. Also PvP already has some exclusive rewards such as glorious armor and tombs of knowledge (transmutation charges as well but they can be acquired through map completion). Basically now pvp players can acquire all dungeon armors/weapons without having having to learn a single pve mechanic or suffer horrible dungeon runs.

WvW actually needs more rewards other than karma because of how many people actually put their time and effort into this mode, such as scouting a keep and commanding for several hours just for server pride during seasons.

PvP players (top ones) get free legendary, a special mini and now cash prize. Since you PvP elites are so good, then get better and actually win something in the tournament instead of demanding more free stuff. Since it is totally skill based like you said, don’t make excuses and go out there and win something instead of complaining about how pvp rewards are bad because you actually get weekly cash.

TL DR: If you want fractal stuff, learn the fractal mechanic, be the “elite pve” players you bash and suffer through RNG. WvW is the one that needs real attention

PvP Unique Rewards (Keeping Casuals Invested)

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

As a casual PvP player and well versed Pve player let me tell you what the problem is. It is not the rewards because we all know dungeons guarantee lots of gold at relatively short time if done correctly with lots of people. So is the open world champ/t6 farm. The problem with PvP is that users get discouraged by Anet’s horrible match making. I’ve won two games in a row in Solo Q, and now I have brand new players on my team while my opponent has 3 engies and 2 rangers. And when you are on a losing streak, you lose and lose because you get teamed up with same people who just lost a match with you or gets carried in a really good team until the losing streak begins again.

People that are telling new players to team Q by him/herself is giving one of the worst ideas ever because they will be demolished by organized team fights and bursts. I play pvp not because of rewards but because of finishers and boredom. And when I lose 6~8 matches in a row, especially with the same teammates in solo Q, there is something wrong with the matchmaking.

No one likes to lose, especially because of having outside factors such as having bad teammates or lags/afkers. But things happen, and while majority of players do agree that those issue can’t be solved by anet, most are enraged by Anet’s attitude; give the money/legendary to top pvp players only and ignore the rest of the playerbase. Its simply this; new players test PvP pool based on few matches, and about 99% of them will have a bad time going against veteran pvp teams.

So solution? come up with a new pvp mode that will only bring temporary players until they get wrecked and abandon pvp all together, or simply come up with better matchmaking for new comers to enjoy. Sadly as of moment there is no middle ground between new players and old players, so to new players like me, we either suck up or quit.

I also want to know how good I am without the wretched leaderboard. I’ve recently learned that ranks are only for finishers which really disappointed me and solo Q is more for luck. For team Q, I do not like to lose so I usually go with guild group using ts3, which also doesn’t really tell my skill since other team could be just random people as well. 1 v 1 always comes down to whoever has the most experience/correct build and other modes require great coordination and team effort, I am lost to where I am now.

Serious question

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Well I would rather wait longer and have a good match…

Whenever you lose you always seem to think that the problem is your teammates. Waiting longer wouldnt solve that.

You know, you might be right.
Because I lost 16 games in a row yesterday and learning to play guardian which I think I play pretty decent now, and have been scoring towards the top of my team roster.
But pretty much every 1v1 I lost but one of them.

However, 16 games losing and due to me being terrible?

I thought matchmaking is suppose to put you in your player pool, where your up against people of the same skill against you.

I pretty much saw the same people all 16 games.

Hence from that observation, its complete random and doesn’t set you up against people of same skill level.

Was nothing but good players because I suck and everyone is better than me (3k tournament games played), so its all my fault I lost all 16 of them and theres no such thing as bringing me down to people of my skill floor, which is sucking bad.

So by that logic, if someone new came to PvP, obviously they’d 90% chance suck at it because they new and up against people who played 2 years plus and just dominate newplayers making PvP not fun to them and most likely lose all there games they play.

I highly doubt any newplayer would endure 16 LEGIT (no 4v5, no connection issues, everyone is trying) losses.

You too? I lost 30+ matches yesterday (combined solo + team) but I thought it was my fault even when I rotated and captured points.

Turret Engi ruins SPVP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

seriously though in Solo Q and maps like skyhammer turret engies simply dominate, which means there is almost no chance to win against teams that is tacked with turret engies. I try my best to kill turrets first and burst engies down, but with their continuous blocks, interrupts, and infinite regens, its almost impossible.
If engies are to rely on their turret, they should make turrets more like Guardian’s spirit weapon, at least making them invest 4~5 traits as well as making them really weak and vulnerable.

TheFamster.7806

Here’s the thing. I’ve been trying to get serious about pvp and I play all the meta builds trying to get experience and better at the same time. However, even in Team Q people won’t rotate or even engage in fights. And to make things off I get paired with the same people in my team even if we just lost by a large margin. The only thing I could do to actually improve my game now is blocking those people that troll or just play whatever, then enter the que only when I know that they are already in a match and I won’t ever see them again.

Rebalance Dungeon Rewards?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

You just want more gold with low effort tactics while farming a single path, i get it, all of us get it. Thank you, but we don’t like it.

No, actually you don’t get it. Not even close.

For the record: I want to run all paths. I also would not give a crap if they took out gold rewards from dungeon bonus chests – I’m here for the loot drops and the gear tokens, gold doesn’t even factor into my decision when I decide to do a dungeon that night.

Also: “low effort tactics” That’s hilarious. “Stack and whack” is low effort. I have experienced minimal levels of challenge in dungeons so far – I find them FAR too easy. Learn the stack point, learn the boss’s abilities, learn the exploits, then rinse and repeat. Speedruns are “low effort tactics” once they’re discovered. The process of discovering them is super difficult, but watching a youtube video or having a dungeon explained and then just “following the procedure”? That is what I call low effort…

And no, I’m not talking about fractals here – I haven’t done them yet and I’m not sure if I ever will, but I gather that they’re harder, so exclude them from the above statement.

And yeah, some people might find my above statements insulting, but I truly believe that the current method of dungeon running is “low effort” because it relies on exploits and rote tactics. It’s been tested by a million players until it’s become nearly foolproof (if you know the routine, that is) and that’s why it’s so popular.

So here we are, in a self denial. People tell you to learn more about dungeon running before you judge, but you disagree and maintain that your opinions are superior to others and force other to accept your opinion while you tune and block any others. Why even make this post if you are not willing to accept that you do not know half of the dungeon contents to make sound judgement? Are you just simply wanting attention? Join a proper dungeon guild, learn to play, adapt, do speed running, learn more dungeons, try to solo a path and do high level fractals for more challenge, and then you’ll realize dungeon rewards are bad not because of the gold, but because of the insane RNG

No you didn’t do enough speedruns. In fact you didn’t do speed runs at all. Im sorry but what you did was a PUG group as well as just casual daily dungeon run. You did not even touch fractal 40+ or Arah paths and you believe you have a clear understanding of how speed dungeon tour works in Gw2? And just because you have “zerker” gear does not mean you are a quality player. In fact since you avoided any runes/sigils that you use, I doubt you have the skill to carry the team let alone being an effective teammate.

Please post on the thread when you have experienced every single dungeon path then we can have a clean and nice discussion. Right now what you did was barely speed running and you have no idea how it works.

Pretty sure I got yelled at earlier for implying that people felt my opinion was not credible because I hadn’t sunk thousands of hours into dungeons, and here’s someone telling me to go away until I’ve…sunk thousands of hours into dungeons.

I’ll get right on that.

Yes that is because you are undermining people’s experience. Just because you dipped your toe in your bathtub doesn’t mean you are an expert at swimming. In fact you are under-qualified as dungeon runner at all because you don’t seem to grasp how much effort and time people spent on effective dungeon runs. We are not telling you to go away, we are telling you to learn more about speed dungeon running before you post such premature threads and responses. Why are you offended when people tell you exactly what you are and how you need to learn more before you have an opinion? I thought you were being reasonable but as you just post you hate to admit that your inexperience makes your argument completely ineffective.

So Illuminerdi, since you are so all knowing and so judgmental, did you actually try speed dungeoning, and I mean the real way with ts3 and competent/excellent teammates as well as proper food/rune/gear/sigil with meta builds and optimal rotation and might stacking and vul stacking etc? Or have you just gotten kicked out of another LFG dungeon group for aggroing every mob and calling everyone exploiter?

Yep, I have an 80 warrior running full zerk (exotic) gear and I’ve run through CoF about…15 times on P1/P2, as well as plenty of runs through AC and CoE, and just a few misguided runs through CM (I wanted the gear set but CM pugs were incredibly hard to find)

So yes, I’ve done plenty of speedruns, and believe it or not, I’ve never been kicked out of a single one, ever. I’ve been part of a group or two that failed or quit the dungeon because the run fell apart, but I’ve never been kicked. I am an effective L80 warrior who is excellent at what he does and contributes his fair share of dps to the group, and I have not gotten any complaints so far.

I think the worst run I ever had was my very first run through AC – I went in blind with no idea of how dungeons worked. For reference, I joined a group that advertised itself as “casual”, and it was still nothing but skipping enemies and “stack and whack”

I’m bored out of my skull with dungeons and I wish I could watch even a single one of the cutscenes to actually find out what the heck is going on in them. I’ve run CoF more than a dozen times and I honestly have no idea what’s happening on any of its paths. I’ve never even seen that one guy do the thing after the bomb event because I’m always with the group who teleports back to start and sits there waiting for the next WP to unlock.

This is (IMO) stupid – the idea that teleporting to the beginning of the dungeon and waiting around while something (mysterous) happens elsewhere on the map is actually considered “gameplay” is just absurd. This is grinding and I hate it – if I didn’t want the gear or the mats from salvage I would have long ago abandoned dungeons and done something else.

Rebalance Dungeon Rewards?

Umm so what you basically want is no more running difficult dungeons to get different awards… you just want to run easy dungeons and get the same reward as people who dedicated their time and effort to learn and master difficult dungeons as well as reduce incentives to run more than few fast/short dungeons to kill dungeon community all together. Furthermore kill everything for tokens.

You know what will happen then? There will be even more LFG for zerker+meta+speed+AP only so that people can finish dungeons even faster and unpopular dungeons will be completely abandoned. And there will be more kicking as well as more griefing. Just because you like to do same dungeon and same story with 5+ characters doesn’t mean everyone has to agree with you. For instance I doubt you have the skill to do speed dungeon tours and you are simply venting your frustration on this forum.

Carried Players

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

TheFamster.7806

Theres one solution to all the problems in this thread. Run exclusively with guildies. As a pug I must admit Im interested in joining a dungeon guild myself as I don’t like that as a pug I regularly have to carry terrible players through dungeons who don’t care that they are terrible because at the end of the dungeon they still get the same reward that you do.

I flet the same way but then you have to think in reverse. Would dungeon guilds want untested pugs? Pug tactics and dungeon guild tactics are clearly different from what I’ve learned so far, and the expectation and quality of guildies can put even more pressure than before. I feel like there is a vast gap between a player who is really good at pugging/carrying versus player who are used to group composition.
I mean both have con and pros, but guild players have more pros than cons. But anyway, good luck on your trial if you manage to find a dungeon guild you like

Condition Idea - making cond build possible

To be honest I have no problem with radiance line. Sure there are many useless traits in Radiance, but not as much as in zeal, which ironically scales condition duration=aka burning damage. In fact Binding Jeopardy in zeal trait (I) and Revenge of the Fallen (IV) is really, really useless in any situation.

Well no matter what legendary you make, if you play accordingly to your build, it won’t make a difference at least in PvE contents. So umm…. since you like healing and stuff staff or shield might be a better choice.

Things Anet Can Learn From (Constructively)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

ANet has already shown with their action how this game will run: if it does not involve RNG+Gem Store sale, nothing will be done about it. For instance our many many bug reports about professions, constant reminders on existence of PvP/WvW/Dungeons and various suggestions have gone unheeded for two years now. And all of those have in common, which is lack of direct correlation in gem store sales. Living Story on the other hand creates an influx of players, which then can be lured into buying gems for skins/utilities while ardent PvP/WvW/Dungeon players have already accumulated enough gold and items to ignore such sales.

As matter of fact PvP has been neglected for 2 years with exception of occasional tournaments which only few people play. For WvW GvG or tier balancing is still out of the window and the most recent improvements were already datamined since the beginning of the game. For Pve, well ANet flat out destroyed hopes and desires of many Dungeoners and ruined fractal rewards even more. At this point expecting something from Anet is completely futile due to their infamous track records, so what I’d say is enjoy the combat and the game until new games come out.

Call of the Mists?

in PvP

I never play Spvp ( yea shoot me but its boring ). And yet i got this buff logging into WvW. Whats its purpose, lure more people into Spvp?

Yes, it is to lure more people into spvp.

and btw: I really don’t understand how someone can call WvW more interesting than SPvP. You probably got your kitten kicked in SPvP, and now you are playing WvW instead to get more uneven match-ups in which have a better chance to win

If you looked wvw videos posted by Red Guard or any GvG team, you might have to change your statement. The thing with Gw2 is that there are really high but barely visible skillcaps in most of the gamemodes, PvP, WvW and dungeon/fractal. In WvW there are just more organization, more food/item buffs, and smart usage of terrain as well as coordinated skills/finishers going off at the same time to kill enemies. In fact even in a zerg fight, coordinated “sniper” team or few players can make a huge difference depending on positioning and tactics.

Same with dungeon/Fractal clears. This time you need individual players to excel at what they do with coordinated timing, responding to telegraphed attacks, and new tactics that will maintain both stealth/speed at the same time while carefully calculating cooldowns on all 5 people’s character. So as much as PvP is complex and exciting, some people do like different modes on this game and each modes have certain skill caps that makes it easy :P

People that hate meta builds, zerker gears, stacking, runes/sigils/potion/food and many more do not run dungeons at all. In my 6 month of pugging for any dungeons, including FOTM 50, Arah p4 and many more, I’ve never encountered anyone who were negative about things that I’ve mentioned. In fact those people that complain are the ones you’ll see in LFG “exp only, zerker etc” and came to realization on how much they hate themselves for being hypocrites.

There are some that truly believe GW2 combat is broken, but those are usually people who played “Holy Trinity” for a long time and couldn’t adapt to dodging/damage mitigating tactics in Gw2. In fact I doubt any complainers on Gw2 forum can do Arah trash mob skips flawlessly without going as a thief or an engineer.

well if this is implemented, whoever is left will stop doing fractals and LFG fractal section may as well be used to sell legendaries and stuff. I mean people already stopped doing them so why not remove it entirely by adding more RNG

Scoring Discussion

No matter how much you divide the match up timezone, coverage will matter. In fact the more divided timezone ppts are, more stacked servers will be. Give more incentives for open field fights/stomps rather than ppt so that even small population servers will have chance to gain significant amount of points.
For stagnation, it is the fault in match making and lack of people playing wvw. Since you have removed almost all farms for pve people, increase the drop rate of something for killing players in wvw so that people will come do wvw even just for the reward.

I pugged my way through fractal 40 and learned Arah the same way, so I know how it goes. PUG dungeon rules should be this; no communication except using the party chat, everyone must rep his/her bank guild to prevent guild chat, can only bring two classes and matched with random people. TS3 must be muted the whole time and players cannot use consumables such as potions/food.
PUGventure ftw

MASSIVE lag spikes

in PvP

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Here are some more questions to answer if you are experiencing lag spikes:

  1. Does the lag only happen while you’re in a PvP map? Does it also occur in the PvP lobby? Other maps?
  2. How long does the lag spike last? Does it ever clear up?
  3. Of your last 5 GW2 play sessions, in how many of them did you experience lag?
  4. Are there specific times of day when do or you don’t experience lag?
  5. When do you remember first experiencing lag of this severity in GW2?
  6. Do you also experience lag playing other games? NCsoft games like Wildstar?
  7. Do you live in NA or EU?
  8. Are you playing on NA or EU servers?
  9. Was your account ORIGINALLY created on NA or EU?

Lag happens on every map, from pvp match to pve and wvw

Lag spike lasts throughout the game. Almost never clears up

5/5 sessions of gw2 for lags

Always have lag spikes no matter the time of the day/night

I don’t play any other games.

I live in NA

I play on Blackgate, NA server

My account was originally created on NA

Solution to fix the population imbalance

in WvW

Posted by: TheFamster.7806

TheFamster.7806

Instead of guild alliance, it should be world/server alliance. Which means since leagues are organized by 6 servers, and tiers are by 3 servers each, The top tier servers should each form alliance with the bottom tiers. 1 rank gold league server should form alliance with 6 rank gold league server, 2 rank with 5, 3 rank with 4, etc. Also instead of ppt point, which majority of us now calls it pvd, the fights should be based on stomps.
