Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!
If you’re so famous, why do you feel the need to remind all of us all the time? Compensation for your small…rocket turret?
Then again, given that Anet had the guts to add a lesbian couple to the game, I’m still waiting for them to have the guts to openly sexualize a male character by giving them skimpy outfits.
There are some non-skimpy outfits available (the guild armors come to mind). I do think Anet’s a bit narrow minded in their design choice when it comes to female outfits, though some of the recent gemstore stuff was quite nice (trickster for example).
If it is a design oversight, don’t expect it to get fixed very soon.
Given that there are still gamebreaking bugs in fractals 1.5 years after being reported, I don’t expect anything to be fixed anytime soon. Best course of action I know is to keep yelling at Anet until at some point, one of the devs actually wakes up and does something about it.
I think you’re not giving Glyph of Elementals the credit it deserves. It’s quite versatile and when used properly, can add quite a bit of dps or cc.
So, you mean like Moriarty. Suddenly a guy who is as good as Holmes who was never in any stories except the one he killed Holmes off in.
Where did I ever say I was a fan of Sherlock Holmes?
I used to play on a role-playing server in World of Warcraft. If there’d been a roleplayer that came up with a background story like Scarlet’s, he/she would have been laughed at and told to go back to google and read up on how to create a good character backstory. The people that came up with Scarlet call themselves writers, so they should know better.
At least Sherlock Holmes’ writer knew what he was doing, and why he was doing it. Anet’s writing team actually thought that they created an awesome character, and they’re still trying to convince us that they were right all along.
AoE attacks should have a 3 target limit at least. They’re too much of a gamble otherwise. I’m specifically talking about Lightning Flash and Rocket Turret overcharge. Especially since the regular rocket turret attack has a 5 target limit.
Why does the normal attack on rocket turret hit 5 targets, and the overcharge attack just 1?
I don’t know why I still bother reporting this bug (have been doing so for a year) but I figured I’d give it another shot.
The knockdown effect from the harpies sometimes instantly defeats people rather than causing downed state.
Also, sometimes the fan at Old Tom activates but doesn’t clear the poison.
Finally, you can no longer use condition clearing to activate multiple consoles on top of the stairs. I know people should learn, but it can cut the duration of the fractal by 20 minutes in some pugs, and I really don’t see why it was ‘fixed’ while the other, more annoying bugs weren’t.
Of course, all of this has been true for a year and I’ve quite given up hope that Anet will actually fix bugs…but still…it’s worth a shot I suppose.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t involve those buggy aspect powers. It’d be nice if things were fixed so when you jump, you actually jump…and not you know, stay on the ground.
In a way, I have brought it up in the ‘oh god no’ topic. I’m concerned that ‘dying’ was part of Scarlet’s plan to spread the vines in some way. My fear is that it’ll take years before we’re finally rid of the ’baby’s first fantasy character’.
No its just your very off topic and youre bringing zero into the topic cant u grammer police AND stay on topic by adding to the conversation (sheesh lol)
Is your writing here intentional?
She is wearing ESRB armor. You know, the group that adds ‘contains blood’ to a game with just inventory and debuff icons.
They couldn’t even give her a haircut without getting a 21+ rating.
chuckle
I believe it’s been confirmed that Scarlet is dead. Gone. Poof. Bye bye. She still has impact through the history of her actions and their ripple effect on the world, but she, herself, is gone.
As long as Scarlet won’t return (in any form, even the hologram is borderline too much) then I’m satisfied. But seeing as how she’s ArenaNet’s pet (the initial backstory that described her as a model student in 3 colleges wasn’t an accident), I fear the worst. I’d happy to be proven wrong. :-)
I hope she does come back. Scarlet isn’t a bad character at all.
I’m still amazed that there are people that actually think she’s a well written character. People like the Power Rangers, and I did so too for a while back when I was little. But let’s not get into that.
My main issue is that, out of nowhere, there’s a character that can literally do everything, and although the story keeps insisting we thwarted her, the voice acting never made me feel like we did anything to her at all. At best it felt like the ‘good guys’ were trying to convince themselves.
The only thing at this point that would make her more ‘mary sue’ is if she took over an elder dragon, or the pale tree, or some variation on that.
It would be a lot more acceptable if Scarlet turns out to not have been in control for a long time.
It might even fix her backstory…finally.
The reasons I’m fearing this is because of 2 things:
-The fact that there’s been talk about mind and magic linking in some way. Her death could have been intentional to somehow link with the leylines or (even worse) the dragon.
-The device she designed was actually built. Those vines could be controlled by something…maybe she even intended to take over control of other Sylvari through influencing the dream.
I hope I’m wrong. I hope that Scarlet will not come back.
…please…don’t let the new teaser mean Scarlet’s coming back…
Indeed, it’s easier said than done, but it’s not impossible. It all depends on your opponent, the situation, terrain, etc.
u use meteor when dueling?._.
Why not? At worst it’s area control, at best people are stupid enough to actually enter the blast zone. If you center it around yourself, you can be the bait that gets people into the area. And once they’re inside fighting, you’ll outdamage them.

it may very well be true that warriors cannot do all of it at the same time, but when I’m fighting a healing signet warrior whose bar doesn’t change at all, and still deals 2k+ per auto attack, there’s reason enough to make those claims.
Nevermind if it’s not ‘technically true’, in practice it is.
No, you’re not wrong.
Better is subjective. Eles literally do everything at once, so they can make full use of celestial gear. However, it may not be optimal for what you’re trying to achieve. On my ele, I’m mixing celestial with zerker and zealot because I want to have a bit more healing power and defense, but not fully commit to it.
I’d be perfectly happy with no spoken text in the entire game at all.
Jumping puzzles are fun, if everything works the way it’s supposed to.
When you hit invisible things, the camera gets blocked or zooms in/out constantly, or Wind Leap triggers but doesn’t work, or Lightning Tether doesn’t pull you to where it’s supposed to…
…then it gets super annoying really fast.
Also, what’s with the stupid timer? The charges were annoying enough!
Don’t really want new skills to be honest. It’ll just lead to more balancing headaches.
eg1: for PVP/WVW Ele glyphs, signets, and conjures all suck, have always sucked.
Ele glyphs and signets are very useful, you just gotta learn how to use them properly.
When looking at the individual healing skills, healing power indeed doesn’t seem to do much. However, you should probably look at them from a different perspective. ArenaNet doesn’t want healers in their game, so you’re never supposed to replace people’s #6 skill with your skills. The purpose of the skills is to augment the healing people already have themselves.
The other thing to consider is that, adding all those heals together makes for some pretty strong healing. Adding up soothing mist, regeneration, the weapon heals, evasive arcana dodge and combo finisher can easily exceed the player’s own healing skills. Thus you’re effectively doubling the healing of a team. And that’s pretty strong for a game that doesn’t want to have healers.
That being said, I normally use heals as ‘part of my tricks’ instead of making them my main focus. I strongly believe that the best eles are those that accept they’re supposed to do a little of everything all at the same time, rather than focus themselves on a particular aspect of gameplay. Engineers have versatility through build options, eles have versatility during combat.
With the wintersday scepter, the companion disappears because you enter costume brawl.
Do not try to make sense of AoE limits. That isn’t going to go anywhere.
I get why there’s an AoE limit. I don’t get why there’s a limit of one target.
I mean, realism aside, what’s the point in overcharging the rocket turret if it’s gonna hit a random target instead of your normal target? Especially given that rediculous arc that it has. Or lightning flashing to someone and hitting a critter instead of your target? At least with a 3 target limit, you have a decent chance of actually hitting your intended target. 1 target limit aoe is just silly.

I’d like it if Gust hit more reliably. Sometimes it doesn’t even hit 2 enemies that are on top of eachother. Your suggestion would make it more useful to me.
This is intented, works how it should.
When they discussed the teleport+damage trick, Anet specifically stated that wall hugging is also NOT intended, but they didn’t have a good fix for it yet. It may be allowed (for now) but it wasn’t the original plan for the skill.
Anyone who’d want this is completely bonkers. The game is filled with so many instant-kill effects that one lagspike could mean redoing thousands of hours…no wait, tens of minutes of gameplay, because you’d never get much beyond that.
A large part of any fantasy game is roleplaying, and a house plays a big part in that. Customization isn’t strictly needed, but at the very least the current home instances could be further expanded as was promised way back when GW2 actually sounded like it would have immersion.
This is what I mean:
The golem acivates costume brawl mode even though it’s not a costume brawl skill.
Please fix is asap because I’ve paid real money for this.
The 4th dye option for the belt is missing. Instead, it dyes in the same color as the skirt area (and given how wrong that looks, this must be a bug).
Please fix is asap because I’ve paid real money for this.
It doesn’t make sense. You get an explosion, and it only hits 1 random target?
And the patch notes only added the skill fact. That doesn’t mean the skill should act that way.
Just tried it with silver…if the belt were seperately dyeable it’d look so great…but now, it’s just plain broken.
Could it be fixed please? I paid real money for it…

I was hoping to get it while playing on my alt but no luck.
On a positive note though, I do like those little indicator icons that give a bit more info, and tell you wheter you still qualify or not.
It would be awesome if the Biconics would visit the home instances on occasion, and maybe rap a bit about the current or past stories.
Would improve the homes too, which is much needed.
That would be nice yes. However, with my suggestion there’s at least some variation in the character’s personality, without Anet having to come up with multiple dialogues or scenario’s. It’s not ideal, but it could be a decent compromise.
The annoying part is getting there. It’s super irritating to constatly get suck under small parts of bamboo that extend farther than their visual model suggests, and that interfere with the camera constantly. Even if Anet just added a crystal to the rock platform, it’d make things 100 times less annoying already.
Serisously, the main reason I dislike the crystals jumping is because of the poor way those bamboo sticks and platforms are implemented.
I’m getting quite fed-up with the ‘unload your gold here in large quantities’ npcs. It made sense with collect-o-tron, but now it’s getting insulting. As if stuff doesn’t cost enough already.
I think the answer to many of these dilemma’s is to make more use of text dialogues and use less spoken text. I know spoken text is cool, but it’s really holding the story back. In the long it’ll also be cheaper, since anyone can write a string of text but voice actors have to be hired, paid and take several tries to get it right.
i mean, does anyone even use scepter 2?
I do in PvE sometimes. It’s a quick fire-and-forget ability, and in PvE stuff doesn’t move as much. I don’t remain in water to spam it, but casting it after a heal or something, while going back to another attunement, it’s okish.
u r better off water auto atking the enemy.. if they make water 2 a blast finisher ye, but as it is its pretty crap atm, long cast time, needs few sec to explode.
It’s also AoE and causes vulnerability. For a ‘filler skill’ that’s not too bad in PvE, as hitting stuff is easy enough.
If the dialogues are only text based, you are right.
The idea behind this is that it’s only applied to the text dialogues (because they’re cheap and easy to expand). Maybe I shouldn’t have used the inquest as an example since it’s spoken. Basically, the idea behind it is that you get the extra depth and immersion through written dialogues in an inexpensive manner.
I suppose if that was to happen, NPC’s will react to your choices and your behavior via dialogue, no voice acting needed.
If written well, the npcs can even give the same response no matter what choice you make. The effect applies mostly to the player (how does my character respond to this) but doesn’t change the outcome of the story. It’s customization without customization, so to speak.
1900 x (1+1,0 × 2,34-1)=1900 x (2 × 1,34) = 5092
This is the effective power I can reach with my warrior before mightstacking…How do you add up 1000x (1,2×0.7) to be over 8000?
By doing the calculations in my head and multiplying by 7 instead of 0.7.
Thanks for pointing it out, I’ll fix my calculations. Boy, do I feel stupid.
However, since it’s the ratio of both results, the percentile dps increase remains the same.
I greatly fear that if mind and magic are linked, we’ll end up with a Scarlet Elder Dragon…and such a plot twist would be most unfortunate.
It was all fun, until they released yet another super powered Sylvari as the antagonist. So sick of them by now…
I would assume that it is simply a very clear hint about the nature of Mordremoth. It would seem like it have manage to corrupt at least two Sylvari now.
That’s true I suppose. It’s just that it’s a Sylvari again, with over-the-top abilities…and I’ve kind of had enough of that now.
Guild Halls. That’s what I miss most of all.
