I guess we’ll know when they post the official blog. Doubt we’ll get an answer before that.
Hm, I never get that error message anymore, unless it’s -announced- down for maintenance.
nop, not yet

The basic fact that over 75% of the population…
It’s a fact that 73.6% of the statistics on the internet are made up at the spot. On forums, this is as high as 99.9%.
Personally, I don’t mind the introduction of one new tier that is somewhat more difficult to get than exotic (if they make good on their promise that ascended will be available outside FOTM). What I’m worried about is that Anet has said somewhere that they’ll be slowly increasing the power of the infusions.
Now, it all comes down to how exactly they are planning to do this and what the precise effect will be.
If the only more powerful effect is that you are able to run FOTM at higher and higher levels (ie: higher agony resist), then frankly, I don’t mind. I wasn’t planning on running Epic levels of FOTM and I don’t begrudge anyone who does.
However, if they’re going to introduce really significantly higher stats with each update, forcing you to recreate the infusions again and again to be able to compete in, let’s say, WvW… yes, I object to that. That’s your gear treadmill right there.
So at this moment, I’m simply holding my breath to see how Anet will handle ascended in the long run.
Constructive criticism is a good thing, it gives suggestions on how to improve things, throwing your toys out of the cot is not.
Unfortunately, most fanbois/fangirls are unable to tell the difference. Someone criticizes the game they love and suddenly they see red, screaming and flailing with a tantrum that most small children would blush at.
ANY kind of criticism on these forums usually gets brushed aside as “baseless complaining for the sake of complaining”.
I really, REALLY hate the terms fanboy/girl and hater (or “white knight” – another one of them forum gems). Why? Because people get called fanboys or haters when they don’t agree with the OP about one issue. Topics rarely discuss the game entirely – they’re highlights of the specific area the OP wants to talk about (for example server population).
When I say that my server for me is decently populated and PvE is not dead to me, does not make me a fangirl. I can still be critical or even negative about ascended gear and bugs – but the OP who just called me a fangirl would not know that, because he has not bothered to look beyond my one post about one subject.
It is entirely possible to love one aspect of the game and hate another – that does not make one a fanboy or hater.
Really, the term is thrown around way to much as an excuse to ignore and belittle someone with a different opinion.
Sure, there are few people here who by judging their post history fall into one of those categories, but my experience is that most people who get the terms thrown at them don’t.
Is there ascended gear in sPVP? I thought it was PvE/WvW only.
Personally, I don’t feel like I “need” to get ascended – only if I want to do a lot of fractals (which I don’t). For Pve, exotics are still good enough and no one notices a 1% increase in stats in the WvW zergs.
It is Spvp only but I think it is 14% difference which is quite a lot and can make a huge difference for smaller battles or when zergs have near even numbers.
When do zergs ever have near even numbers, and how can you tell anyway?
No rhetorical questions by the way (I am honestly curious). I am a very casual player who gets her behind kicked when I so much as look at WvW, so I rarely bother with the stats-and-numbers-game.

Not a mission per se… but I’d love to see presearing (and young Gwen) again.
Try switching servers or find a good guild. I just finished map exploration of Cursed Shore, and there was no shortage of people. I don’t have problems finding a dungeon group either, and I have yet to do most of the storylines. I am level 3 for the fractals. Also no problems finding a group, mostly because my guildies like doing low level fractals for their monthlies.
I play on Desolation (EU)
Colin, I have a bet with my best friend that you will post the official blogpost next week. Don’t want to lose to him, he won’t let me hear the end of it.
Please don’t let me down.

Depends what you want. I myself, I love dyes. I try to collect them all for my main, and my alts each have their own color-scheme. I never sell them, I use them all. Have even bought unID dyes at the TP because, well, I could.
Basically just ask yourself: do you want the money or do you want pretty colors?
Guild-Wars2.info: Why did you decide to implement guild back packs instead of capes like we saw in the original Guild Wars?
Izzy: After 250 years, guild fashion has had to adapt and change, especially as more diverse races started working together. The charr, for example, are not a big fan of the capes as they get in the way when running on all fours. The asura have calculated that capes increase the chance of fumbling in combat by 34.76819011% and thus avoid them at all costs.
My guess? Not gonna happen.
Then expand your team if the current team can’t handle it. Nothing is as frustrating as having a complaint, yet no one answers. It makes you feel like you are being ignored, and when you are already angry about something, that just ignites the flames and makes it worse. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed the vibe around here – it’s not constructive, friendly or nice. And that is what comes from feeling like you need to shout to be heard, like Conncept.7638 here.
That being said, I do appreciate your time to answer me now and not locking this thread

I think you mean WP costs?
Anyway, if you ever feel something done by the moderator team was wrong, please write to forums@arena.net.
Pointless – you won’t get any reply. I know, I’ve tried it three times.
Aye, it’s difficult. Posting on this forum feels often like walking on a razor thin line of “getting the mods approval”. This is actually the first forum ever where I have been banned.
Worst thing is though, that you can not complain anywhere. Forums@arena.net is pointless – you will not get a reply. Complaining on the forums is not allowed.
Overall, my conclusion is that anet has no clue how to manage their own forums, and it’s NOT benefiting the community.
So, what you’re saying is “I play for Da Lootz”
In that case, I don’t really have comforting words. Da Lootz is bad. You could only try to switch to a “Dont need Da Lootz to have fun” point of view, but that is not for everybody.
There is no need to belittle him…
It wasnt intended that way, my apologies if it did.
Everybody has their own thing that keeps them playing. For some it is Lootz, for others it’s Da People, for me it’s Getting Lost Simply Wandering.
My point was: what is driving the OP to play, is not something that will keep him playing GW2, so he has to either change his “wants”, or find something else. Or maybe wait for an update where they’ll fix the loot.
*Edit: I agree that the waypoint costs should be tweaked somehow. It discourages spontaneous teamplay. Maybe they could add something that “waypointing to a teammember is free” or something.

I never fell under the ground while stealing… o0 Plenty of times though when I got stuck in a wall or dredge carrier thingy that spawned on my head.

What kind of data do you expect to get? How many people (are planning to) quit? Is kind of worthless if you don’t know how many players are still playing and how many new players join the game…
because 99% of GW1 players (my guess from reading everywhere) are not happy about how gw2 turned to be .
80% of the statistics on internet are made up on the spot. On forums, that’s 99.9%.
I pretty much do just what I’ve done since I started playing this game:
Whatever strikes my fancy.
That is to so… I don’t have a set plan, don’t feel the need for one… and don’t want to schedule things to be done during my play time. I log in and let DE’s take me wherever they would like to take me… crawl into caves when I pass them… jump into a dungeon when someone in my guild invites me… kill dragons when I know one is up… start random costume brawls… work on map completion when I happen to pass through one I haven’t finished… jump into wvw when the fancy strikes me… jump into keg brawl (would love to see some more mini games added)… I adore the jumping puzzles…
In fact… I prescribe to the Dirk Gently method of holistic navigation… I sometimes look for an avatar that looks like it knows where it is going and then I follow it.
Everything on a whim… and I like it that way. It’s hard to get bored when I never manage to do that same stuff 2 sessions in a row.
Same It’s a great way to unwind from the stress of work. I just log in on a random character, and do whatever grabs my attention.
Tosha, stop spamming the thread. Yes ANet hasn’t talked about a release date of an expansion, but they HAVE told the public about future updates that equal up to what an expansion would hold.
My apologies for the multiple posts, I wasnt even aware my post showed more than once. Recieved a PM from a moderator who said it was a forum error.
Anyhow, the info about the “future update” was for this months update. This months – not 8 months away. And they did not say anything specific as far as I know, only that we don’t get new areas or races…
My point still stands, you won’t get an answer at this point in time. Try again in a few (7/8?) months.
Everything anyone says now will only be speculation… and it will probably take a year before an expansion comes out anyway. So it’s kind of pointless to ask at this point.

For the example that Jehuty gave, Hentai Promstar, people see the name ‘Hentai’ and instantly assume it means some Japanese porn or something. In reality, the Japanese definition for the word ‘hentai’ means more of an abnormality. If used like ‘hentai seiyoku’, on the other hand, means a sexual perversion. ANet doesn’t know this, because they rely on people who are quick to judge and don’t even research what a name means before laying down their ban hammer. As a child of Japanese decent, I am a bit offended that ANet would generalize a meaning like this and assume the worse in its meaning. That is an unfair judgement on their end.
Do you think most of the playerbase sees Hentai as some innocent Japanese word, or as the animated porn version? Especially combined with “Promstar” which could refer to a) pornstar or b) an underage girl?
Tbh, I didnt even know Hentai could mean anything else but the porn.
Taken this into account, do you still think it’s unfair to ban for this?
12 – which I spent on cultural T3 boots.
I’m no farmer or dungeon runner :p A full set of cultural T3 armor would take me at least 3 more months, if ever.
Do not spend a single copper on it unless you like the way it looks. That is basically the only reason to buy them – the stats are useless.
Aw man, the short bow has a freaking unicorn on it? The long bow has flowers? What’s with all the little kid/girly looking stuff on some of these weapons? I’m gonna be spilling (virtual) blood with these not spreading love and peace.
Can we have skin options that don’t take much after we craft a legendary that looks stupid?
Come on, what’s better than spreading Doom and Destruction with the aid of your favorite unicorn Mr. Snuggles? Let your enemies tremble in fear at the sight of your mighty pink ribbons! Spread terror into their hearts with the Rainbow Of Despair! Let them shiver before your might!
You sir, have no idea how to spread true terror and chaos.
Yea…i’m with Moirweyn on this one. My BAMF ranger rocking a rainbowy flowery unicorn bow? Meanwhile other people are rocking mean looking legendaries like Twilight, Bolt & The Juggernaut.
Hehe, I would never get the unicorn bow for myself. My post was slightly sarcastic :p
However, it does appeal to some players. I have seen some pretty enthousiastic responses to the unicorn bow. I myself have a little “meh” respons to all current legendaries, including your favorites. The only one I am slightly interested in in Incinerator. But I am holding getting a legendary off until they (hopefully) introduce a skin I like better.
Whilst I’m fine that some people like housing and guild halls, personally any dev time that isn’t spent on improving combat-based content is a waste to me.
Just to provide the lone voice of dissent here in the thread :P
You disagree? GRAB YOUR TORCH AND PITCHFORK! GET ’IM!!!
[/angrymobmode]
On topic: all devs working on one thing alone? That is a logistical nightmare. While I’m no expert at game development, I can’t imagine 100* people working on 1 project ever getting anywhere.
- this is a random number

I can’t really speak for your server, but Tarnished Coast is jam-packed with people. Try jumping to one of the busier servers.
Typical denial response. The game is horridly empty in every non-starter and non-end game zone… on EVERT server. And the game design depends on people. It’s failing on all fronts.
Oh sure, because someone disagrees with you, he’s in denial. Sorry to disappoint you darling, but I have no complaints when it comes to server population. Just because the zones are not as packed as they were in the headstart weekend, does not mean the game is dying. I typically run into 3-4 other players in an average DE, in every area I play. It’s enough for me – more than that, and the DE’s are just a boring faceroll fest.
*Edit: I am on Desolation, like Goettel. I’ve noticed on these forums that players from Desolation rarely complain about server population. Either I am just very lucky that Desolation is the only exception to the rule, or you have not looked elsewhere yet.

Is a bought level 80 better than my hard-won level 80? It isn’t, so I don’t really mind. If someone wants to spend hundreds of dollars for a shortcut and some shiny pixels, it’s fine for me, as long as he does not have a stat-wise advantage over me.
oh-kay, we get it, you feel cheated. Why not write an email to support instead of ranting on the forums?
I wonder if those cards are only sent to USA players or if the rest of the world has a chance too…
wants!
Really, this whole discussion really is about the question “what is winning in GW2?”
And that answer is personal for everyone.
For me it’s exploring. And as such it is not P2W for me.
For some it’s the achievements. That could be P2W.
For others it’s WvW – that MIGHT be P2W if you count the boosters, however, I do not believe those have a significant effect in WvW. But that is also personal opinion.
For another group it’s winning in sPvP – no P2W there.
So this discussion can go on for 10 more pages and still no one would come up with a definite answer, because the answer depends on your preferred playstyle and goals.
All I can say is, for ME, it’s not P2W. I dont care if someone pays hundreds of euros for some shiny pixels as long as they don’t get in my way.
Quoted from the same wiki page:
“These changes have been mentioned by ANet, but without any hint of a release date or any specific details. "
Which, to me, translates as “don’t hold your breath”. It may come in the jan/feb update, but honestly I don’t expect it that soon.
Why not create a private guild for your 2 accounts and use the guild storage to transfer items?
(anyhow, I don’t know about the tranfer value limit)
Don’t fix yourself on one build. You will get frustrated sooner or later. Play flexible.
Create a private guild for a guild stash or treasure cove…
If Anet ever makes guildhalls, a “permanent or temporary access to the bell choirs” upgrade would be absolutely fantastic. Making music with guildies \0/
I hated heroes and henchies in GW1. Especially heroes. Turned the MMO part of the game into single player and drove me away from GW1 PvE. Would hate to see them in GW2.
Guild Wars 1 was in fact never an MMO, wasn’t designed to be an MMO, wasn’t advertised as an MMO, the Developers didn’t even call it an MMO.
TLDR: Guild Wars 1 is not an MMO.
Fine, suit yourself.
Heroes took the cooperative out of CRPG, basically turning it into a single player game with a few multiplayer options if you were lucky enough to have a nice guild. And if I want that, I’ll play Diablo or Skyrim.
Better?
My point still stands, no matter what label you put on the game.
did you clear your mailbox?
I hated heroes and henchies in GW1. Especially heroes. Turned the MMO part of the game into single player and drove me away from GW1 PvE. Would hate to see them in GW2.
Why have you separated, except for the WvW kills which I and many others would wish you would take out of the monthly, every type of content into its own category of PvE and PvP, and then go and put in PvP requirements for the Wintersday achievements? I HATE PVP, as do many others, and find it completely unfair that I HAVE to participate in it in order to complete all the achievements. TAKE IT OUT!
Sign here if you agree!
And people who don’t like PvE complain that there are PvE achievements.
If you don’t like it, don’t do it. Simple, right?
What do you mean max performance?
I would think that max skill at playing your class, understanding how you contribute to the fight in different circumstances would do much more for the party. The skill has a ceiling. Skill cap is easily achieved in GW2.
After you hit it, only the raw power of profession matters. And this is where every single nerf/buff counts
Yeah, I see a lot of people running with crazy and useless builds in pugs, die in every fight and feel fine about letting 4 other people down. But some people, like meself, don’t like to be subpar.
Raw power as in DPS?
*Edit: In GW1 I played GvG quite a lot. The most fun battles were those where we created new builds and tactics. How does trying out new things make you less of a player? Who knows, you might come up with something even more powerful.
I think it’s just a difference in style and taste. I don’t like using the same set of skills and traits over and over and over and over again even if it is the most powerful one… at that moment. Does that make me a weak link in the chain or subpar? I think not, because I think I can adapt quickly to new situations and I’m not easily kitten off by nerfs.
You on the other hand like playing the most powerful build of the moment. Nothing wrong with that, but you are probably very easily upset when they nerf a skill you use.
