It’s pretty remarkable how free you’ll feel once you let go of that whole “needing things” in a virtual world.

No, you don’t need laurels. You don’t need to do your dailies. You don’t need to do fractals. If you do, you really need to revise the way (and why) you play games.

I’m fine with the way it is now. It’s not supposed to be happy happy unicorn land, nor is it supposed to give you an easy time.

I don’t know if you are trying to solo the area, but it’s much better in a group.

Because it’s the closest they’ll come to having mounts?

When my boyfriend and I are playing, it takes a bomb to drive us away (and even then we would probably look out of the window, go “meh”, and play until internet and/or electricity collapses).

Well, i am almost 40, played GW1 for 6 years, played GW2 since release almost every day, jumped around in SAB for a few minutes and completely lost interest in GW2.

You guys claim you like all the races, but how many of you would play as Asura or Charr as your main? I still think that the vast majority of players don’t want to play as these races. More compelling races would have attracted more players to this game. Lots of people like the traditional fantasy races like elves.

This is from a while back. Humans were favorite class back then (and probably still are), but besides that, it’s fairly evenly distributed. So I think you may be surprised by how many people genuinly like playing the new races.

My boyfriend calls me hardcore, because I’m active on the forums, collect every scrap of GW2 news and information I can find and our friends usually come to me first with questions about game mechanics or advice about classes.

But I only play about 10 hours a week. Tops. I don’t have the time or energy to play more than that. Legendaries are so far beyond me, I’m not even thinking about working for one, even though getting Bolt is awefully tempting.

He, on the other hand, plays 2-3 hours a day in the weekdays and more in the weekends. He has just finished setting up a teamspeak server for the entire server. He is halfway to his Bolt. He calls himself casual.

I call us both casual. We do both have some “hardcore” elements – he in the amount he plays and the energy he puts into the community, and me because of my information gathering ticks. But sometimes when we do a dungeon run together and we happen to play with one of them speedrushers who gets anxious because the run isnt going fast enough, we are reminded that we are casual

In my opinion, casual players are the ones who don’t let the game become another job or addiction, and who are able to have fun regardless of rewards. Hardcores are people who use the game as a substitution for whatever it is they are missing in their real lives. And because of that, they throw themselves in the game with such a passion and fervor that they tend to burn out all the faster. They are the ones who cannot stand being “inferior” (however they define that) to anyone, even though the difference may be so small it doesnt really matter in the first place.

Maybe, I dunno I got my super skin farming level 1 over and over and after getting it , i think doing the game is a waste of time :/

The entire game or just the SAB? Either way, if it isnt fun for you, just… dont do it?

I got lucky yesterday and found two skins in my first and only run. Sold them on the TP – made more money than I usually make in a month. I gave part of the profit to the friends I ran SAB with because they got nothing. I really don’t play any game for the rewards – personally I feel like playing a game for virtual rewards is the quickest way to turn something that is supposed to relax me into another job.

Would you play anything in the game without reward? Answer is: if it’s fun enough, then yes. SAB is fun enough for me.

And are there more updates to come? Any update soon?
And more thing, are there digital ebooks about the lore of GW2 on the internet and if there are can i obtain them for free?

There is a fairly large content update every month (usually at the end of the month) where they add new stuff. Currently, the flavors of the month are the Super Adventure Box and The Living Story, but in the past they’ve added minigames, jumping puzzles, a new dungeon, new dailies and monthlies and some new currencies – among others. If you want to keep up with the changes, I recommend either joining a well-informed guild or keep doodling on the forums (though that comes with perils of its own)

I tried every class in the betas and decided I liked the thief best… so my first character was a thief. Got her to 80, she has 98% map completion, storyline completed, full exotic cultural T3 gear… and then I made an ele to complement my boyfriends warrior. And after experiencing the versatility of the ele, I find it very hard to enjoy my thief. Thief is mostly DPS only, but with ele I can do damage, I can do some excellent support and crowd control, depending on the situation.
Right now, I am also leveling a guardian and mesmer, but I keep coming back to my ele.

Word of caution: I don’t know if this is true, but it might be that you are flagged as a gold seller if you send anyone a large amount of gold.

In GW2 we can do EVERYTHING, we can level to max lvl and are not hindered, so they try to make a little money off people wanting 10 alts!! God forbid a company that actually needs to make a profit to stay in business HOW DARE THEY!!!

But GW2 isn’t supposed to be compared to WoW’s Starter Edition. It is supposed to be compared to WoW as a whole.

Anet themselves stated that GW2 will give you all the benefits and features of a P2P AAA MMO, without the monthly fee. So when you compare GW2 to WoW, you compare it to what WoW offers as a P2P game, not a F2P game. And WoW and other P2P games, don’t put limits on you that push you to their cash shop. GW2 does.

I have no problem with Anet wanting to make money. Heck, there is tons of suggestions on these forums that Anet can use to make money. But putting limits on you to push you to the gem store or else you can’t experience certain content is not the way to go.

And the fact that you don’t have to spend a penny to buy anything in the cash shop doesnt mean a thing?
You are not locked out of any content if you choose not to spend real life cash.

Nope, you cant get to 80 without killing a single thing. It goes down the crapper between level 1 and 2 sadly.

You must fight the monsters at lvl 1, no matter how you go about it.

You need to go back to arcade games for that. MMO’s have always had carrots.

We didn’t get the talked about nerf to Shatter, however every other profession that has a quickness skill got a time duration increase except Time Warp. I call BS on that, because ours is an elite, and now just how useful will it be with the reduced ability speed from 100% to 50%.

I think it applies to any form of quickness in general. If it’s not applicable to timewarp, then yeah, that’s not right — but I think it does apply.

Open your eyes , its an elite skill ! Not some random skill that other classes have for quickenss ! So O.o and yes mesmers don’t got another quickness skill like all classes do ! Mesmer is the new enginer , so be ready to take a break from dungeons !

oh come on, mesmers will still be viable in dungeons. In fact, I’ve gotten pretty spoiled by having a portal guide me past the traps. Don’t act the dramaqueen until you have played it.

Overall, I think it’s a pretty solid update. Nothing gets nerfed into oblivion, a few buffs here and there, a long list of bug fixes and the living story finally starts to sound a little bit more interesting.

But I’ll wait with my final judgment until I have played it

I get your point, but I think it all comes down to taste. I don’t find fart jokes funny, but some people think they’re hilarious. You don’t like the somewhat goofy humor, I love it. I loved Sieran and Tybalt both. Tybalt because of his backstory and Sieran because of her “loose cannon” attitude.

I would recommend the Vigil storyline if you like a more serious note, don’t know if you’ve already done that.

So you think a “serious” story is devoid of any humor? How the hell do you create a believable world without some laughing every now and then?

GW2 is also full of lore, but it’s not as much “in your face” as GW1. It’s in the tombstones and statues, in the ruins and stories the NPCs tell. You have to take the time to explore and talk to NPCs, but that makes it all the more worth it.

I was disappointed that GvG was not in GW2. It swallowed a huge chunk of my time back in my GW1 days.

Really? I don’t see a problem on my server. At release, I would indeed find 2 or 3 bugged events every map, but now it’s maybe one a month or so. But then, I only play for 10 hours a week or so :p

I see a lot of people here whining “there is no personal reward, no one in my guild will join!” Holy hells. Do you really need a shiny trinket dangling every. single. step. of the way to motivate your guildies? No one ever understands long-term planning or working together towards something? You don’t know how to make it fun?

Then why the hell are you a guild leader? It’s not Anets job to bond your guildies together and create some fun. It’s yours. And yes, that job’ll be easier now if guild missions are your goal.

If GW2 was P2P, I would not have bought it, even though I was a fan of GW1. I don’t play P2P games. I don’t have enough hours in a month to play to justify spending money on a sub.

Why not? When it’s someone who’s breaking the game’s rules and purposely harassing other players and/or interupting WvW by manipulating it for the enemy, shouldn’t they be publicly blasted, shamed, and banned?

And what if that person is not cheating or harassing anyone, but the person on the forum is either simply wrong or trolling? How can we – the average forum user – tell?
Before you know it, innocent people get branded as cheater or kitten, and can’t show their faces ingame anymore.
That is why it’s not allowed to post names here. Report to Anet and move on. Nothing else you can do.
