Gem fee for Transferring Servers

I don’t agree. Since they made server transfers paid to avoid griefing in WvW, it’s perfectly acceptable that it’s not too cheap to transfer servers.
And 4.5g was pretty expensive at launch. How many days it took you to get one gold? I know I wasn’t instantly rich the moment I joined the game…

I think it’s a matter of how much boredom you are willing to go through to get it done. I personally don’t see any point in doing map completion.

Nah, it’s a matter of what you see as boredom :‘)
I really hate doing a dungeon path more than once in my lifetime, but I can’t get enough of exploring.

I don’t have all exotics and sigils on my main yet, and I have been playing since headstart. I do, however, have map completion at 94-ish%, and my alt is at 50-ish %. I only need Diessa Plateau and a few WvW points.
It’s a matter of preference, I guess. I love exploring, so that’s what I fill my game time with, but I hate grinding or farming or whatever you want to call it, so I don’t have my gear complete yet.

Guesting will solve the "underflow" issue?

And high pop servers will go into overflow 24/7… I have mixed feelings about this.

Yep, it’s another quick fix idea from Anet that will only make things worse in the long term. Many people on the forums have posted very good suggestions on how to fix the population/cap problems.

Unfortunately, Anet as usual seem to be happy going for the quick and easy option rather than something that will provide a tangible, lasting solution.

Nah, I don’t agree about that. Guesting was not meant as a fix for low pop servers, it was actually meant to be in the game from the start as a means for friends on different servers to play together. As for “quick and easy” – seeing how long it took them to implement it, I guess it was neither quick nor easy to do.
It’s going to be used by players as a fix for the low pop servers, sure. But that was not the intention of this system.

The loot is nice Last time I ran through a DE swarming with risen to catch the little critter, and it was worth it I don’t think this is the scavenger hunt though, Anet said that will not come for at least a few months yet.

Still, both farming and grinding are “doing the same thing over and over and over again”.

Which leaves me the question: why is farming considered “fun” and grinding a chore? (tbh, I really hate farming myself, but that is my opinion )

in my mind:

grinding means you’re forced to do something over and over to make progress in the story etc

farming means you are willingly going out of your way to do something repetitive for something that you want that isn’t necessary to win the game

Sure, but legendaries are not necessary in the game. Are they a grindin or farm?

I am not in favor of excluding low levels from the fractals. If they can find a group willing to take them (friends/guildies), they should be able to join.

Yes, my choice to leave the group and find another, but sometimes it DOES take 10-20 minutes to find a fractal group your level.

Not allowing level 16s in the dungeon won’t get you a group any faster. Kick him and wait for an 80 if that is what you want. In a system where the level 16 is unable to join, you would have to wait anyway.

Is AoE actually a problem? - Discussion Thread

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Nerfing AoE, really, how many players want that? Like 0, zero, nought, no one…

I want it. Provided they’re talking about melee cleave AoE. What is there right now to punish warriors and guardians from walking into a crowd of mobs and autoattacking with greatsword? Nothing. Absoloutely zilch. And there’s no way other classes without melee cleave can get aoe melee damage.

Honestly you don’t even know how they’re nerfing AoE yet, you’re the one living in your own little bubble if you read two words and overreact like this without anet even detailing what “aoe” they’re talking about. You don’t even know a single thing yet.

My thoughts exactly and what I’ve been trying to get across to people but most people are having knee-jerk reactions before having concrete proof of what they’re planning.

There is no room for patience, nuance or deep thought on these forums. At all. And it only takes one “omagad we’re all going to DIIEEE” doomsayer to let the excrement (I refuse to use a kitten here) hit the fan.

Posted by: Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Pretty biased questions, but okay. Looks like anyone who dares to answer “yes” to any question but number 2 is the Scum Of The Earth.

1. Are AOE’s a problem? Yes/No I don’t know, I haven’t seen the data

2. Have you complained about AOE skills? Yes/No nope

3, Do you support the trash of AOE abilities? Yes/No In my opinion, single target skills should have more damage, but only for one target, while AoE should have less damage for groups. If that is currently not the case, and I don’t know about that because I have not seen the data, then yes, AoE should be tweaked because single target skills become obsolete.

4, Do you want this game to go that the way of wow and have a nerf bat swing every month or so in the name of balance? Yes/No I think everyone is too allergic for nerfs. The kneejerk reaction I see on these forums every time someone even dares to imply the N word is astonishing. Anyhow, I have never played WoW so I cannot give an answer here. Though people tend to forget about buffs and only seem to think balance implies nerfing. And I’m not talking about the devs, I’m talking about the forumdwellers

5, Any other comment? Yes. I like cupcakes

Game Changes: Metrics vs Forum Feedback

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Forum feedback would show:

Nothing.

The forum community is only a very small part of the total players. To make things worse, it’s not a general sample – it’s a specific subgroup of players. And to make things even worse, it’s a specific subgroup including many of the worst kinds of players in the game.

I’m not happy with the idea of the AoE nerf. But to say “no one in the forum complained about it so it’s not an issue” is ridiculous – the forum does not represent what players think, much less what is or isn’t an issue in the game.

Players are not game designers. More often than not, players are not capable of doing good game design. Developers should not ask players to tell them how to design a game, since this will more often than not lead to failure after failure due to lack of long term planning, lack of care about the impact changes have in the game as a whole, and the self-centered nature of most suggestions.

It is massive you are wrong. One word Ascend. That was a direct response from Anet to the troglodytes about no vertical progression. It shows Anet is easily manipulated by the forums and will not hesitate to throw away any design philosophy or vision to appease.

I’ve wondered about that. Did Anet make that decision based on the forum, where sure, there were a lot of topics about it, but the replies on those topics were about 50/50 pro/con. Or did they base that decision on the metrics? Did they see people stop playing after getting their exotics and figured this was why?

Not saying I agree with ascended, but I doubt it was a decision based on forums alone.

I am sorry but this isnt a solo game this is a mmo. If there cant be sufficient people on at all times of the day to fulfill whatever type of game experience you want there is something very very very wrong.
Do I even need to remind you a few months ago plinx at 4am had 15 people or that WvW and night capping as a 24/7 game?

Take the rose coloured glasses off and see the real picture.
Yes Please TRY AGAIN I SAY.

In that case I have always played dead games, because there have always been times when you could not find enough people to do everything you wanted to do, while in other times the servers were crowded.

I had great fun in several of them and so I guess it doesn’t matter if a game is alive at your standards.^^

True. By his standard, WoW is dead too, because last time I played, I did not run into any players (well, maybe one or two) in the starting area. And that was in the evening.

How do you feel about leveling alts

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tosha Daydreamer.9251

Tosha Daydreamer.9251

I really enjoy leveling my alts, but I am an explorer at heart. My main character has 94% world completion (only missing diessa plateau and the WvW areas), and I dread the day she hits 100. I wish I could reset the world completion somehow and start over, but that is where my alts come in.

I can make leveling as fast (with crafting using the mats I gather on my main) or slow (by slowly exploring each area) as I want to, and I can make it as hard (by visiting areas slightly higher than my characters level) or easy (doing the starter maps) as I want to.

Leveling and outfitting alts is easier than leveling your first character, because I now already have the money and materials not to worry about gear. And even doing areas I have done before, I discover new things I had not seen the first time, so to me, replaying those areas does not feel old.

Dueling in?

Tosha Daydreamer.9251

My very first experience with duelling was when I was new in WoW and was taking my fresh level 5 out for some questing, when another level 5 came in and kept spamming duel requests for 15 minutes, whispering me and shouting at me in map chat “wanna duel?” “wanna duel?” “I’ll give you 5 gold if you win” etc etc.
And no matter how many times I asked him to gtfo, he didnt stop.

It ruined me for open world duelling forever.

However, I did have fun having little duels in GW1 with my guildies in private matches in our GH, while the rest of the guild could watch us play and mock whoever lost. I would not mind seeing that again. But open world duelling where I can be spammed by any pre-teen with a godcomplex? No. Oh gods no.
