Before the LS patch, LA was a fun place to hang out and chat. Now, all you see is “LFG LFG LFG”…
In GW1, they fixed (trade – WTB WTS) spam by putting every line that had WTB or WTS in the sentence, in another chat tab (the trade chat), cleaning up the main chat for people who actually wanted to have a conversation.
Why not implement the same for GW2, but for the LFP/LFG spam? Put it in a different LFG chat tab and leave mapchat for those who just want to talk.
Bring back the mapchat of LA
Hope this makes sense…
I created my Sylvari Necro in ultra haste on the pre-purchase weekend when the servers opened 3 hours early so have always wanted to go back and tweak her. Is there a confirm button you need to click to apply your makeover so you can decide not to use it on that toon after checking out different hair and skin colours etc? I might not want to use it on my Sylavri because she’s grown on me (no pun intended) after all this time.
Anyone know?
Why not create a temporary sylvari just to check some new looks you might like, and change your “real” sylvari when you’ve found a look that suits you.
Can anyone confirm if you can change a character’s height with the total makeover kit – my poor human thief is mocked by dwarves wherever he goes
With the total kit you can change everything except profession and race.
Yes, I am sure the anet devs just feed off your misery rolls eyes
But to answer the question, in the AMA yesterday Chris acknowledged it was a problem and they’re working on it.
I play about 10 hours a week, mostly condensed in the weekends. But I don’t have a schedule, I just do whatever I feel like doing at that moment. Right now, I have to do 2 more TA runs for my chest armor. After that, I dunno. My armor still needs tweaks. Helping my boyfriend level to 80, maybe doing a fractal, or maybe I work on my map completion some more or level my own alt.
Getting a legendary is not a goal for me yet.
Can someone link what you guys are talking about please.
You will have to scroll down a bit.

That are all questions and answers, so you don’t have to search for them
I made 4 gold yesterday doing 3 dungeon paths. So if you like dungeons, you should have no problem covering the basics for your amor.
That being said, you can buy the runes from the token vendors. So if you like armor A for the looks and B for the stats, but you don’t like dungeon B, you can run dungeon A more often for the tokens for the looks, and B less often to collect the runes only (120 tokens = 2 runs per rune).
If you don’t want to run dungeon B at all, you could see what other superior rune has similar stats to the one you want and buy them on the TP. For example, if you want condition damage and vitality, you could consider the Superior Rune of the Necromancer, which is 15 silver on the TP. While doing dungeon A, you should collect plenty of money to buy the runes you want.
Mix and match There is a lot of freedom in this game in creating the exact armor with the looks and stats that you prefer.
I still play when I can (which is not as often as I’d like, hence I miss out on all the FoTM stuff). I am still somewhat worried about the asended gear and whether or not I can keep up.
But I did appreciate it that Chris admitted that they handled the patch poorly and that the communication was horrible. I hope he’s learned from that and won’t make that mistake again in the future. And yes, that gives me hope for this company.
Im playing less, but I blame real life. shakes fist kitten you, life!
If you want the DD for free… then can I gave the difference between the DD and the “normal” version back please?
Kind of rediculous, don’t you think? You knew what you were buying a few months back, and so did I. You could have known there would be a sale somewhere in the future -there always is. If you feel cheated or robbed or whatever, just wait a few months next time so you can buy the game on sale instead of full price.
That’s what I did for Dishonered, and it’s what I’m doing for CoD. I didn’t do it for GW2, because I wanted the headstart.
If you don’t want a game NAO, you can almost always save yourself a good amount of cash.
You can get dungeon exotic sets pretty easy. You don’t need to run the dungeons that often to get a full exotic set. You could be full exotic within a few hours, without spending a dime (even making more money with dungeon loot)
You can also craft ‘em, but I don’t know how expensive that is at the moment.
Only time will tell.
Until then, everything is only speculation. If you want to go on a rampage, by all means go ahead.
I for one am not letting it go to my head and I’m going to keep enjoying the game.
The preview of these weapons suck. Just bought the sword and it was actually quite stunning in my Sylvaris hand
Saving up for the dagger now.
… and how their ears perk up when they’re in battle <3
My god people.. they added one tier of gear as a one-time gameplay improvement, why the kitten is everyone acting like this is the apocolypse?
The term “slippery slope” comes to mind. Many players here have years of MMO playing experience and they can smell rats from a distance. And they are sounding a warning.
Slippery slope? Yes. Gear treadmill? Not yet.
So all these people who are making a Huge Drama out of this and even quitting or asking for refunds, are overreacting terribly imo.
It’s one thing to sound an alarm. It’s another thing to let what might come ruin the fun you’re having and acting like an angry mob with too many pitchforks.
I have read that above lvl 10 in Fractals Ascended gear is requirement to provide you with resistance against some damage.
So as long as you are not end game player i guess you can live without it quite well. If you want to clear all content in the game however, u will HAF to get it.
Depends how you define “clear all content”. I don’t even have full exotic yet, yet I’m able to enjoy the fractals, WvW, Orr, Lost shores and everything in between. Sure, I can’t do the higher levels of the fractals yet, but that is only a slightly higher difficulty. The content is basically the same as level one, which I’ve already enjoyed.
So no, you do not need ascended gear to experience all content.
Same. My priority at this moment is getting exotic/cultural armor for my main, while waiting for my friends to reach 80 so we can do the fractals and other dungeons together (did fractals during the weekend, was Fun)
I am slightly worried that I might get locked out of future content, but at the moment I’m willing to wait, be patient and enjoy the game.
X: I enjoy the new dungeon, don’t feel compelled to get the new gear, don’t have lot of time to play, and enjoy PvE and WvW.
I understand why people complain, and I’m keeping a wary eye out, but at this moment, I’m not rampaging.
I wonder if that Mayan calendar works in Tyria too
It’s a treadmill. 90 hours to get the mandatory gear to compete is a treadmill. SOrry to burst your bubble.
That’s a grind, not a treadmill. A treadmill is something where you keep running, but never reach the max armor, because they implement a new tier shortly after the last one.
Introducing one new tier is not treadmilling yet. It’s a new grind, yes. But it’s only a treadmill if they keep coming up with new tiers. And only time will tell if this will remain a grind, or will evolve in a treadmill.
This is just the beginning. In November, we’re only adding the first level of Infusions and Ascended Rings and Back slots, so that leaves us a lot of room to build upon these levels of Item progression in future content.
As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.
How exactly can you read this and not come to the conclusion that there will be more and more of this crap to chase after. It’s a treadmill and Linsey Murdock said so much in those two paragraphs.
Because I’m patient. I’m willing to wait and see what happens, and not let what might happen ruin the fun I’m having today. And I really don’t feel like joining the angry mob on this forum. Pointless and depressing, and I don’t need that in my life.

Me in Lions Arch:
“LFG fractals level 1. Level and armor doesnt matter, brains and ability to type required.”
Had no problem finding a group. Sure, there are elitist, but I honestly dont want to play with them anyway, so it’s no loss if I dont get invited to their party.
Make your own little niche.
Do you even need to be on the same server to recieve mail?
Nop, mail is cross-server, just like the trading post.
Can I have your stuff?
This exact same “observation”, in all its infinite variations, was put forth by a lot (A LOT) of people on SW:ToR forums, less than a year ago.
I guess we all know how that turned out.
On any MMO forum. I see this on the WoW forums as well, and that game is far from “dying”.
I really don’t judge the state of any game by its forums anymore.
I agree that the forums are depressing.
Yes, the event yesterday was laggy (and in the reinforcements stages I wanted to scratch my eyes out) and no, I did not get a precursor. And I did dream a lot about karkas last night.
But overall, I had great fun, met some new people, got challenged by the new dungeon (2.5 hours for the first difficulty with a friend-only party xD), got more l00tz than I expected at the end of the run.
When I’m ingame, I feel motivated and challenged by the FOTM, and I want to do it a lot more. I don’t care about ascended gear. My legendary is such a Long Term Goal, that I don’t care about farming. Orr is a zone I only go to when I feel like somewhat of a solo-challenge. I don’t farm orichalcum, I don’t time the dragons. I have some great people in my friends list, and I’m never bored when I log in. Map chat is often a blast and maps are never devoid of players.
When I’m on the forum, I can literally feel myself get dragged down into negativity. The ascended gear suddenly becomes something unreachable that I need to have (why? beat me. If you see that it took us 2.5 hours to beat the first difficulty, I won’t be needing ascended gear for a very, very long time. hell, my friends aren’t even level 80 yet, so I have to wait for them to catch up anyway). On the forums, the superfun FOTM dungeon becomes That Thing That Separates The Community And Makes It Impossible To Find A Group and I’m worried about that (doesn’t bother me ingame, I do any dungeon only with friends). On the forum, the lag that I expected and wasnt put off by ingame, suddenly becomes The Next Big Technological Failure.
On the forum, servers are empty and The Game Is Dying.
Not to mention the consortium chests, that I didnt even look at ingame, but are The Proof That Anet Sold Their Soul To Nexus on the forums.
Why visit the forums then? Obviously it tries (I say try, because at the end of the day, i’m still able to make up my own mind) to ruin my fun in the game.
But the forums are still the best place to get some interesting discussions about lore. I love reading and posting constructive criticism. And getting a different insight in the game allows me to understand it better, making me a better player overall and the source of all information for my guildies.
And most importantly, I don’t have anything better to do at work (yes, sad, I know).
Guild Wars 2 ?@GuildWars2
The event will begin in Southsun Cove–watch your in-game mail for specifics! ~RB2
*edit: kitten :p
Can you provide a link Lolana?
Not on twitter at least, dunno about facebook
But Wiki says Southsun Cove…
Yes, there are some things that could be improved, but overall the fractals are AWESOME. They require brains, teamwork and skills. They are beautiful and interesting.
Even though I’m still not a fan of ascended gear, I have to say this is the most fun I’ve had in GW2 so far, and I hope the dungeon will be expanded later on.
This is aweful :/
I really hope you give us something better tomorrow, Anet
@OP
I think they said anything that you can get in the chests, you can get from drops while running around in the “Sea Of Sorrows” area, and the dungeon.
If you have a source for this (And not just that chests drops rarely) i’d love to have it
“All the items found in the Consortium Chest can also be obtained as rare drops from any creature from the new Lost Shores event.”

Look in the right corner of the forum, below your username. Click “my account”. On the left side, there’s an option “invite a friend”
Reading this topic I had to laugh at the different definitions of “casual” and “hardcore” in every post.
Clearly, it is something that everyone has a different opinion of, and yet it’s used a lot in discussions. But how can you ever have a good discussion if you are talking about different things?
Its to point out their bans hurt the community. The fact she is high profile hopefully will make AN take a better look at their banning algorithms. Plus, lets face it, you’d ALL be screaming if you got banned just before the event unjustly.
I would be screaming. In mail. On the forums, no one would care, because I am not a Celebrity. So no, I would not go vomiting my complaints on the forum, unless they took too long to respond to my email.
And let’s face it: the only reason you are upset is because she is high profile. If I was banned, you would probably not care. You would probably say the same: “I would rather have a strict algorithm with a few false positives, than a huge bot/gold seller problem”.
What’s the point of posting this? This is between her and Anet. Picking sides won’t do anything to help her, let alone the other “non famous” players who were innocently banned.
Lol! Come back when you solo champions like they’re rats.
I really love the idea of this dungeon. Hopefully, the combat will offer something different from the current dungeons…
Games with a subscription fee are supposed to be time-consuming.
Fixed it for you.
So you are bummed because of 2 rings and a backpack?
Because that is all the ascended there will be in two days.
So dedicate less time? I mean it depends on how important that legendary weapon is to you. I personally couldn’t give a hoot. I know you came up with two hours a day because I used it as an example in my other thread. Fact is that if you want to spend only four hours a week instead of two hours a day then all it means is you get your legendary later. Since you claim to have a life, I don’t think you would be all to concerned over when exactly you get your legendary, right?
Sigh
It is not about getting a legendary. Read the first post again, and this time, read it all the way to the end.
If you’re really this pissed about the time commitment, guess what? You don’t HAVE to make a legendary! And I bet Arenanet doesn’t expect about 95% of the game’s population to! There are so many other things to do in this game… why not take advantage of them?
This is not about the legendary. Me and the OP have long accepted that a legendary will take years for us, and we’re fine with that.
However, if Anet plans to introduce a gear grind, we will gradually fall further and further away stat-wise. And that will lock us out of content we otherwise could have enjoyed. THAT is the concern here.
With such a slight stat boost i doubt it will effect you or any other casual gamer
That’s why I called it a “concern” and didn’t go on a full tantrum :p It’s small now, and I hope it stays that way. And I hope they won’t introduce any more tiers – i.e a gear grind.
There are more players on at 3pm in the afternoon east coast than say 7pm east coast? I find that hard to beleive.
You forget Europe. Noon PST = 8 pm GMT…

Two hours a day is 2 TV shows. You’re telling me most people in the world are unable to watch 2 TV shows in one day because it’s a hardcore time commitment and they have lives?
I have played plenty of MMO’s with adult, working people, many of whom were married and/or had children. You don’t have to be “people without jobs and students neglecting their classes” to play an MMO for 2 hours.
Two hours? Sure. Two hours A DAY? Not a chance.
Sure, I’ve known people with children who were able to game hours every night. While their spouse was in the background taking care of the kids, doing the cooking, cleaning etc… If you’re lucky enough to have such a partner, sure, you can game for hours a day. However, if you are the kind of person who shares the household responsibility equally, there is no way you can game two hours a day unless it’s the only hobby you have and you don’t need much sleep.
I agree. Most days I’m lucky if I can find time to log in at all, let alone 2 hours.
However, as much as I fear a gear grind, I’ll wait for future expansions and updates before I make any hard conclusions about wether ascended will be a treadmill yes or no. Right now, it seems doable, even for a die-hard-casual like me. But I’ll just wait and see.
