For me “C” automatically targets the closest enemy. Can switch enemies with tab. Don’t have problems playing or targeting.
Holy kitten, this thread has become junk.
Can’t be bothered to count the “just leave you #$^&%$ WoWer!!!1!” posts, but my eyes are bleeding.
So I’m going to ignore every post before me and just going to answer the OP:
I like the simplicity. Traits and secondary skills give me the option to customize and let the skills fit my playstyle, while weapon swapping does the rest. If you feel like you don’t have enough skills – have you tried the ele? 4 attunements, 5 skills each, different skillsets for different weapons…, in my experience the ele is one of the most versatile classes ingame.
I’m on Desolation (EU) from the start and I’ve got no complaints. I’ve yet to see a single bot, WvW is decent (we’re currently ranked 4th of the EU servers) and I regularly have a blast just standing around chatting in map chat.
Search for “juvenile” creatures. When you are close to them, you can charm them by pressing “F”.
I don’t know about pet limits.
Can anyone explain why there’s a tax in this game?
goldsink.

You don’t have to be in a group to be “sociable” in this game. I’m having fun with players who walk beside me for a couple DE’s without having to be in a group. I’m having fun in map chats.
I see a lot of people complaining about the lack of player interaction in this game, but it always sounds like they somehow magically expect it to happen. If you don’t say a word, you can’t expect the player next to you to start a conversation. If you put a little effort into it, you’ll have a fun discussion in no time. And if you are the quiet type, you can still play together with other people without it being awkward.
So no, I do not think GW2’s system of grouping and playing together makes the game less social. It’s the players themselves that make the community, not the mechanics of the game. And compared to GW1, this game has a more vibrant community, IF you are willing to put in the effort.
Is TSW a subscription based game?
Unfortunately yes (which is the main reason I’m not going to play it, even though it does sound a very fun game)

maybe it’s in your spamfolder?
1. Bots don’t rez you
2. People don’t rez you because they think you’re a botSadly, yes…
+13. Sometimes i don’t rez ppl which they jump off cliffs and die stupidly, so i just take care my own business and go away…
As someone who fairly regularly dies from cliffs and jumping puzzles, I get very sad reading a reply like this.
1. Were you satisfied with the Guild Wars 2 launch and your first week of play?
Yes
2. As of today, do you think ArenaNet has done a good job of taking care of bugs, communicating with their customer base and making most players happy?
It’s doing a better job than AoC – I ran away screaming from that game because of all the bugs. Of course I would like to see less of the little kittens, but I’m not too frustrated.
3. Are you still recommending Guild Wars 2 to friends?
Depends. I have one friend who is a wow fanboy till the day he dies. I don’t ever recommend new games to him, to prevent him from giving me a wow-is-fantastic-speech. Otherwise: yes :p
4. If no new content has been released will you still be playing Guild Wars 2 six months from now?
Yes.
5. Overall would you say Guild Wars 2 delivers as the game you envisioned it to be?
Yes.
I have never had any issues. When I meet another player in the straits, he/she usually helps me out. Map chat is people asking help for DEs. So maybe you’re just having bad luck on your server. I play on Desolation.
Those teleporting people are most likely farming bots – and you can report them for that.
And I believe the “GW2 15,662” is the client version.
@hump If you hit the DR by “farming the most efficient way”, then it’s obviously NOT the most efficient way. the most efficient way is playing without hitting any DR.
“Why should I waste my precious time on completing one event, when I can tag 5 events in the same timeframe?”
well, obviously, because only doing one event in that timeframe will, in the long run, give you more reward than doing 5. Ergo: you are not doing it the most efficient way, you are only doing what you think should be the most efficient way. But wanting it to be one way, does not change the current reality that it simply isn’t.
Your suggestions at the end are good, I especially like the last one. But at the moment, you need to work with what you’ve got. If that means doing one event instead of five, maybe you should consider that.
@clem Nop. Because I don’t spend money on boosters, nor am I bothered by DR on a normal evening of playing. So I don’t understand
Not another DR thread. Honestly, you could not post this in any of the dozen other threads out there?
Here’s a nice lil’ topic for ya:

When you are F5ing the guildwars2 forum2 while you are supposed to be working cough
(honestly, these forums are not worth F5ing, but I need my hourly GW2 fix)
@Khaldar I would like a cookie and a hug for doing my job. Unfortunately, in my profession, I’ll never get any (#$%$ doctors take the credit). So I’ll just give the people at A-net something I wish for for myself: a hug and a cookie. Well, a digital hug and cookie, since they’re not exactly around the corner.
Thanks A-net!
I don’t miss raiding. Way too time consuming.
But even with a voice server..this game seems to make peeps much quieter than other games.
but spending 2 hours to do a 5 man dungeon is acceptable.
That’s exactly how WoW: Cata was when people were first hitting level 85.
If GW2 doesn’t have some sort of end game content at some point, it will begin to lose players out of pure boredom. My friends and I were always 10-man simi-hard core raiders. It’s been a while since we did any raid and I’m starting to really miss those days.
What exactly do you miss? The purpose in raids was to get better gear, which enabled you to do the same raids, but more difficult, for other new gear, which would get you into a more difficult raid until you maxed out your gear. Then it would start all over again when a new expansion came out. Tbh, I define that as pure boredom, although yes, it was fun to play together with a large group of people.
Did you like it for the gear, or playing together with a large group? If you did it all just for the gear, then you are going to have troubles later on. If you did them to play together, there’s dungeons (small group) and WvW (as large a group as you want).
I have made a separate tab for guild chat – that helps a lot.
*Edit: doesnt mean I wouldnt love a guildhall
It’s not as simple as just disabling events. You’d have to prevent higher levels from killing every mob. There is nothing more frustrating than a level 80 going into a level 10 area to farm some leather or just go around feeling high and mighty, leaving the level 10 players without mobs to kill.
The only way to prevent that other than scaling, is either preventing high levels to kill all mobs (in that case you would still not get your “i pwn you” fix) or seriously lowering the respawn times (hello second Orr for newbies).
Tbh, I love scaling. It gives me something to do at 80. I still feel more powerful even when scaled down thanks to my skills, traits and superior armor, but the game is still fun for me and the people around me. And it’s easy to help out a low level friend without having to create an alt.
I wonder… those gear treadmills and “character progression” stuffs basically serve the same goal as monthly fees: you HAVE to keep playing to stay competitive or “get your money’s worth”. When that happens, it’s impossible to play for relaxation and the game becomes a second job.
@OP: is this the feeling you miss? The obligation to log in to get new stuff “or else”?
Call me a fangirl, I don’t care anymore. But yeah, although there are some things that could be better in GW2, I absolutely adore the “no pressure” feeling of GW2. I don’t HAVE TO log in every day just to keep up. I love that when I get my kitten kicked in WvW, it’s because I suck, not my gear.
Since my real life has changed from having enough time to make a game my job, to actually having a fulltime job and needing a game to relax, this is fantastic. No pressure, no obligations and everything in my own sweet time.
hmm ok thanks for the answer anyway
I just heard a dev post that said “for the patch on monday” so i just assumed it would come
now i jsut wasted a whole day for nothing
Thanks for the response anyhow
soooo… have you realised that the devs may be in a different timezone?
Kittens. Boxes full of ’em.
I was really surprised that in one topic, someone told me to “go back to wow, I herd there be pandas now”. While I’ve never liked wow, and have been a long term fan of the GW world.
I can’t quite remember what topic it was, but I was actually shocked that someone basically told me to gtkitteno because I dared post some criticism. (basically: the same thing dear Garo a few posts above me is doing right now) It is not what I’m used to from the GW community – but then, I was never very active on the official forums until recently. There is a whole different vibe on forums like Reddit or Guru. For example: when the dungeon speedrun was fixed, people on Guru were saying “they finally fixed the kitten farming exploit”. In here it was “Kitten kitten kitten now I cant farm and the game is broken and reverse it NAO”. The vibe on the servers themselves is very different as well. On my server (Desolation) I often just stand somewhere happily chatting away for hours in map chat with total strangers.
These forums… it’s way too easy to let yourself be dragged down by all the negativity. I’ve come to the point where I know which posters actually provide useful critique, and who is only here to kitten on everything in sight. There is even at least one poster who I know has not played since beta and has gotten a refund (or, that is what he/she claims), but is still going around trashing every topic spewing flame and hate.
I just hope Anet can find it’s way and find the Golden Suggestions between all the trollish excrement in here.
I dont expect unique abilities in any game anymore. Every ranger WILL have barrage, every mage/elementalist WILL have fireball. The only skill I found new and fun was the steal ability of the thief.
No one is going to win this argument. It’s just going to be trolls trolling trolls.
Welcome to the Troll Zoo. Please do not feed the Trolls, and keep your distance from the cages. Children should be supervised at all times. Enjoy your stay!
Fun game but if thats all there is then im basicaly done. If i want mindless stuff id go play wow or swtor.
So you don’t want mindless stuff, but you’re annoyed that there are no arrows pointing to where you need to go?
ok mr half glass is empty tying to be witty, ill explain it to you. Pre lvl 70 you have the quests and events with everything else. You develope a sense of direction ontop of the super boring of runing to get to those spots needed for leveling. Take away that direction it becomes mindless running around for those who like me are new to the zones.
So you need to have someone hold your hand. Basically. That’s fine. I actually like it that I’m not being let go – free to wander where I want to wander. But if you do not like that – why not go level up in one of the lower level zones? Or PVP?
“OHMAGOD I KNOW 7 PEOPLE WHO HAVE STOPPED PLAYING AND THEY KNOW 5 PEOPLE TOO SO THAT IS AT LEAST 12 PEOPLE WHO STOPPED PLAYING AND IF YOU LOOK AT THE FORUMS YOU SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINING AND ANGRY STUFF AND THIS GAME IS DYING FAAAAAAASSST!!!1!”
I know 10 people who are still happily playing every day. They each have a nice friend list with lots of other people who still like playing. I see positive comments on this forum. When I enter Straits of Devastation, there are plenty of people to play with. I hardly see any bots.
so maybe I’m just lucky and picked the only comfortable server to play on, or maybe I just have some awesome friends. Or maybe, MAYBE, this game is not dying just yet.
My point is, as so many in this thread have pointed out – anecdotes don’t mean kitten. The game can improve – what did you expect? It’s only a month old. But to go around crying that it’s dying is premature, annoying and utterly pointless.
I want that unicorn bow. Someday.
My guess is that Anet will release more skins in future patches/expansions, and that is solely based on my experience in GW1. So if you don’t like ’em now, maybe you will like some of the new ones
GW1 is pretty cheap in most stores nowadays. Get yourself a copy (with Eye of the North of course) and go play for your rewards
I’ve found more places like that. My guess is that they’ll use this for future expansions
Got two for map completion of Mount Maelstrom (and was able to use both \0/)
temporary measure. It’s too easy to find a way around it. You would have to change the filter constantly.
how long would it take before trolls would do this to afk players?
I can’t believe that this is true what i am reading here.
Was just about to go to Tyria, but now…. °shaking head in despair°

There’’s your Anet answer.
I can’t login every day – most days I’m simply too tired from work. But I log in to relax and to take a break from RL. Which mostly means wandering, exploring, “the oooh, what’’s this over here” experience. I’m level 73 now, with a few level 10-ish alts.
I love the no-stress atmosphere. I don’t “have to” do anything. Just do what I want, when I want it.
Tb, haven’t really noticed a difference, and I’’ve started 4 new alts in the past 2 weeks.
It’’s annoying. I got it last night on my first adventure in the Straits of devastation, at a DE against some risen giant. Eventually, I didn’t target the grubs anymore, only focused on the giant to keep me from getting that horrible popup.
I was half-tempted to submit a bug report, if I hadn’’t known they did this intentionally.
Worst. Solution. Ever.
I wonder if I’m the only one not offended by the title :’)
I don’t know but I want one.
When I started playing, I could not stand having my boyfriend looking over my shoulder. I felt clumsy and dumb. It was more fun just figuring it out on my own, asking the occasional question. Let her find her own way in her own pace.
No, I do not believe Anet would hire goldsellers. Every developer with an IQ>80 knows it is one of the best ways to get a crappy economy and unhappy player base.
Yes, but Anet isn’t trying to get a happy playerbase. And a bad ingame economy where everything is too expensiove is good for converting people’s time into monetary gain through selling gold. Ofcourse they would never advertise that they openly sell pay2win.
And no, I do not think that Anet or anyone else for that matter causes cancer for monetary gain.
Happy playerbase = loyal players = more players spending time ingame = more players willing to buy gold
Unhappy playerbase = losing players = bad reviews = say byebye to your company.
So why would Anet not want a happy playerbase?
Who, after reading this thread, does not understand that Anet hires these goldsellers? I can see no other reason for Anet to allow this.
Do you also believe farmaceutical companies promote cancer to be able to sell more medicines?
No, I do not believe Anet would hire goldsellers. Every developer with an IQ>80 knows it is one of the best ways to get a crappy economy and unhappy player base.
I believe the word you are looking for is EXPENSIVE…not “expansive”
I would offer suggestions as to ways of mitigating your costs, but since you are threatening with gold buying, the single greatest detriment to the game, then quite frankly sir, I don’t give a skritt.
its not a threat. as a customer i can buy their product(gems) or another product. as they created the need for the produnt itself, im feeling free to choose whatever is cheaper.
You are really thinking about buying from gold sellers? Those TheWordKittenIsTooSweetForThem who are ruining the whole economy? Those $%^&%$$% who destroy dynamic events?
How about instead learning to manage your income better?
Spelling errors aside, I’m mostly disappointed about the copy/paste replies.
And why is that?
Copy/paste replies lack any personality. It’s the equivalent of a robot saying “thank you, have a nice day” over and over and over again. It’s like talking to a brick wall. And that frustrates me more than any spelling error.
Spelling errors aside, I’m mostly disappointed about the copy/paste replies.
What’s your goal then? What are you trying to get?
I havent had any problems so far. I’ve even got meself enough gold to buy me 2 minipet packs just for the fun of it.
