Wow, if you don’t want answers, don’t ask questions.
Go vent your frustration about whatever is wrong in your life somewhere else.
That trinity reason really makes me laugh. Is not that you’re bound to play a specific role because of choosing a class.
In GW2 you can tune your most of the classes to play a specific part of that trinity. Guardians, elementalists, etc… can either DPS or support, heal, even tank.
Except you really can’t. Any deviation from straight up DPS will just kitten your build for no good reason.
Only if you play solely in PUGs. If you actually take the time to form some sort of team synergy with friends or guildies, you’ll find that everything runs more smoothly. But yes, that takes some effort and coordination.
I don’t care about what is said in the manifesto…they show in game footage. It’s pretty weird to make footage for a creature only to take it out (although they did create an armor for the mesmer trailer that’s not in the game, but that’s another story).
They ve shown footage of the Canthan district in Divinity as well… we all know how that turned out.
As for other “legit” reasons: not everything makes it into the game due to time constraints, development complications, etc. It should turn up eventually in one form or another. Why are you even on the forums? You seem to very much not like GW2…
I hate what GW2 has become and that s exactly why i m posting here. but i guess that s too hard to comprehend for some people.
I don’t like TERA, but I don’t go over to their forums to whine about it. I’d much rather do something I do like.
This should be added to OP:
*If you wanted an exact copy of Guild Wars 1… this game isn’t for you.
Fixed that for you.
I liked GW1. Wouldnt want a clone anymore. GW2 is fine.
No you didn’t, at least not for me, or for some of my friends…
We wanted GW1 with better graphics and persistent world. But GW2, with beautiful graphics and persistent world, is nothing like GW1… all those little details that made GW1 the greatest MMO (for me and my friends) is all gone…
It’s just a mix of different MMO’s, with a brand new quest system (which is epic btw… but not enough to be as great as GW1)
Yes, GW2 is different – as it should be. I’ve played GW1 for over 3 years very intensively – PvE and PvP both. In the end, I had seen and done all I wanted to see and do, my friends had quit and when I log in GW1 today, there is nothing more that grabs my fancy. In the end, when I stopped playing, even though there were tons of builds possible, only a few were considered “viable”. It really wasnt fun to “have to have” build X to find a party for HA, only to find yourself matched to a team with the exact same build. It wasn’t fun to “have to have” title track X on level Y to join a party, because all other builds were not as good. And it wasn’t fun to see random pugging destroyed by heroes and henchmen.
If GW2 was exactly like GW1, only “open world”, I would be bored very quickly.
I still get the occasional lump in my throat when the music from pre-searing ascalon plays in GW2 and I remember the hours I spent just mindlessly wandering around there, but if I want to do that again, I’ll just open GW1 again. I look to GW2 not for a repetition of the old, but for something new. And so far, it has delivered just that.

Remember the Karka event? Yep. An event that had a long-lasting impact on the world – in fact, its effects can still be seen and visited today.
Remember the storm of complaints from people not able to participate?
It’s simply not realistic to expect a long-lasting impact on the world around you in an open world MMO. Yes, I too am sometimes annoyed by the crappy town that simply refuses to defend itself properly, but it’s still better than traditional MMO “go kill the bandits that are burning my farm so my farm will be saved” – type of quests, and when you’re done, the farm is still on fire and forever will be on fire. THAT is having zero impact.
If you want long lasting impact on the world you’ll either have to play a single player game or have something instanced.
TERA… where to start. A friend of ours praised the game, so we (my significant other and me) decided to download it. Character creation was hilarious, really. When you don’t yet fully realize that those characters have to last an entire game. After 10 minutes of watching my whatever-race-it-was female caster wiggle her kitten even when standing still, I made one of those rock-fellows to get the image off my retinas. Unfortunately, the world is populated by characters like that. It. Was. Too. Much.
It was a huge relief to see some decent characters in GW2. Now, I don’t mind sexy armor. My female ele has one of the most flashy pieces in the game. But when she wears them, she still looks more like she can and will kick you if you look at her the wrong way. Unlike my TERA character, who looked like she would not know the difference between a rock and a cushion if it hit her face while doing the nasties multiple times a day.
Long story short: more armor skins: yes. Sexy ones: yes. TERA style: Hell no.
7g a day? I’m lucky if I make that in a week.
I personally don’t feel forced. I log in 3, maybe 4 days a week. But then, getting ascended isn’t really a goal for me. Dailies are something I do to help my alts level up, the laurels I happen to get, I spend on dyes ^^
It’s all about the goals you set yourself.
I suck at jumping puzzles. And with suck I mean I really suck. Morrigans spiral? Never managed to complete it. Mad king? Didn’t even come halfway. My boyfriend did the wintersday one for me.
That being said, I do like the idea of jumping puzzles. I appreciate them being in the game, even though I myself will probably never complete them all – or even half of them. As long as they don’t put rewards in there that aren’t available anywhere else in the game (new type of ascended), I wouldn’t mind.
(…)until guesting was introduced.
(…)
And until they fixed the loot. How many people never bothered with the dragons because the loot wasnt worth it? And how many native people are now suddenly VERY interested in those dragons?
I’m not saying guesting isnt an issue, but to blame it solely on “strangers who took our jobs”, is a bit narrow-sighted.
Dey took our jobs! * grabs pitchfork *
How would free transfers “fix the guesting problem”?
For the first time this week i have had to use the guesting feature. Why? because Desolation is totally unplayable now because every map with a boss you just get put into overflow.
I do not want to guest at all i just want to play my game hop over to the boss when its time and go back to do what i want to do with my guildies.
I do not know what the long term answer to this is but i think short term guesting should be stopped so we can get some accurate feedback as to how busy these events actually are on a particular server.
I’m sorry but guesting onto my server Desolation its crazy the world is aleady packed with just Desolation peeps.
When i get put into an overflow on my homeworld and there’s people talking in non-english languages they all must be guesting as i have never experienced this before.
Loot for all i totally agree with but surely common sense says we must be allowed to play on our own homeworlds with our friend and guilds
Thank you
Naw, overflow has always been multi-language, never server-specific. So you can’t really judge the “guesting problem” by who is on the overflow server.
Easy way to find out. Remove chest rewards for guests on world events. They can get it on their own servers. They can still come over and play 99.9% of the other content with friends. This (I think) would put this to rest if its a guest issue or not.
My experience with this has been horrible. Playing a Jade Quarry a heavy pop server already, BUT we never got overflow for world events, now we are and the lag. So in the past couple days I guested over to some light servers and guess what.. No lag, no overflow. Everyone is just putting 2 and 2 together as this started happening after guesting on every world event (at least on our server).
Anet just needs to fix this. I for one ticket this every time I encounter it. I see it as blocking a PVE event.
What proof do you have that it is players guesting and not just a heavy population of your home world players?
His proof is his experience on his server. He clearly said that he has never had overflow and lag for the big world events on JQ but right after guesting was implemented there was lag and overflow.

Cool you can post about logical fallacies just like every other person on the internet. I don’t understand why Miggz can’t come to a conclusion based on personal experience without being called out for not having 100% proof but it’s ok for the other guy to say it’s not guesting that’s the issue without any proof at all.
Where did I say that the other guys conclusion was right? Please, point it out in my posts in this thread, I’ve made a couple.

I’d really like to see some official data: how many players use the guesting system to farm dragons? I don’t see a lot of em on the forums (or maybe they don’t dare to speak up :p), and in my not-so-small guild I don’t know anyone who does it.
It IS possible that most of the problems are caused by native players. Hell, I didn’t look at the dragons before the update, now I have one alt on stand-by whenever a dragon is called in guildchat. And at launch and pre-launch, the starting areas were in constant overflow as well – and that was waaay before the guesting system.
So before I grab my torch and pitchfork to chase out the strangers who took our jobs, I want to know just how big of a problem they really are.
February update was horrible for farmers.
It destroyed the last known farming spot im gw2. So many people quit because of that and the dragon overflow maps.
I have taken a hit income wise. I like to farm and im pretty sure most people do to.
I saw so many people quit. I feel like they are take steps backwards. If people LIKE stuff, dont take it away, build on it. Because its starting to get to people.
I just hope wvw is more rewarding. Im tried of hitting F on a loot bag and getting a spike. Seriously.
I’ve always hated farming with a passion :p Guess I’m part of a minority
Yesterday, a troll started a discussion about religion and abortion in the Kessex Hills chat on my server. I would trade that for Quaggan spam anytime.
Ahh, remember the Fire Elemental in the beta? THERE was a challenge. Now I can do it with my eyes closed
1.) what made you choose and stay on the server you’re on?(guilds and friends aren’t a valid reason since transfers were free for four months)
Suck it. My friends chose Desolation so that is where I was in the betas and that is where I am today
2.) what will it take for the wvw players to get you into wvw?
Help getting my 100% map completion, after which I’m probably never setting foot in WvW again
3.) wvw benefits your dungeon runs, do you not agree that helping us get the buffs you benefit from is the right thing to do?
Nop. Couldn’t care less about the buffs. You should do something because you like doing it, not because of the goodies. And I don’t like doing WvW
4.)is it the repair bill that scares you out?(i know pve players with upwards of 200g, so the fact that they’re scared of a 10s repair bill is confusing)
Oh please. Like you don’t get repair bills outside of WvW. And my total gold has never been above 10-ish gold
5.) why would a risen priestess of milandru be impressed with your Sunrise?
Don’t have a legendary, don’t care to get one.
Besides, my server manages fine without me. I think they’re actually glad I’m not making the waiting queu worse.
Yes, the poll does not work now. Yes, it should be fixed. In the meantime, why not send an email to support@arena.net if you want to give them feedback so badly?
It probably helped that TC was advertised everywhere as “unofficial RP/leveling/questing/dungeon/come-here” server
Ah, a game needs a little gold sink, and what better gold sink than just some armor skins…
just fyi, no one really needs support. need dps and survivability. don’t die, and kill stuff. thx. we don’t need ur 200 pt water aa. If you can maintain 25 vuln solo at least you might be useful unless there’s a warrior or a (god kitten forbid) axe (ROFL) necro in the group.
Ah. And what if my support can help the DPSer survive (he can pay less attention to “keeping himself alive”) so he can do more damage, something he is probably much more suited for that I?
You have a really narrowminded view. It’s not about you, it’s about your team. Unless you’re a solo player of course, in that case, go ahead.
“in every MMO you farm nonstop”
That is exactly the reason why I don’t play every other MMO, I play this one. I hate farming, and grinding, and doing the same thing over and over. For me, it’s not about “progress” (that is just some psychological nonsense anyway – new pixels in an imaginary world is not “progressing” or “achieving” anything).
People who stick to the game are people who appreciate it for what it is. The people who need a carrot, will get bored once they’ve gotten it.
I will never understand the point of going full support. The heal is totally not worth it, and you sacrifice so much damage to run it. Not to mention all the combo fields/condition spreading is still used in damage builds. But I guess people miss monk so much that they will try anything…
I absolutely hated healing in other MMOs, and I’ve never played monk in GW1. But I love playing support ele, mainly because depending on the situation, I can switch from damage to healing to CC in a heartbeat. Sure, I can go full DPS on all my characters, but where is the diversity then?
And if you ever really take the time to analyze your dungeon runs, you’ll notice they run much more smoothly when there is at least one character being full support.
Hiya
I love the Demon Masque, but it does not show in any cutscene. Since I plan on keeping it until level 80 and beyond, this makes me a sad panda. Any cures for this problem?
Similar topic, my answer still stands
I don’t. Shopping lists are fine when you’re doing groceries, but in a game… meh.
You don’t feel The Big Shot anymore?
no extra at the moment.
lets make more noise until they give us extra.
For all that is holy, don’t! People will feel pressured to complete all dailies, and the complaints about “dailies are a chore” will multiply like wildfire.
They are fine as they are.
The second. Blue is totally in this season.
Your guildies can help you with your level one, why don’t they?
I use a slightly modified (I have my points in earth instead of air and I have summon elemental instead of mist form – plus some other tweaks I can’t really look up now because I’m at work :p) version of this build:
http://www.gw2builds.org/view/911016/elementalist_healing_support
I use the superior runes of Dwayna in my armor.
It relies on the situation which attunement you’ll be using most, but you’ll have to switch attunements a lot and be very flexible to make the most use of this build. However, if you are smart with your combo fields, you’ll be able to keep everyone but the worst players alive in any situation, while doing some moderate DPS and annoying the bosses
I love this build, especially in dungeons.

Time to guest on low pop servers :p
You only get some extra achievement points for completing more than 5.
Yesterday I did something different. I turned off the daily tracker and just started playing, to see how far I would come with the daily by ignoring it. Within 30 minutes, I had 4/5. Before I logged off, I spent some karma to get 5/5, but that took me 2 minutes max.
Relax, let go of the compulsion brought on by having that tracker in your top right corner, and the dailies will feel much less of a chore.
What about on days I don’t really want to play? It’s an annoying chore then. Besides which, what you describe isn’t going to be everyone’s experience every day…
On days I don’t want to play, I don’t play. Why would you play something that isn’t fun? It’s a game, not a job.
And then I am irritated at how long it takes to get a laurel reward the next time I play. That is the design.
But you are right about one thing… why would I play something that isn’t fun?
Only if you are fixated on the rewards. I’m not (I buy dyes with my laurels), but I know a lot of forumdwellers are. Kind of saddens me to be honest, that a lot of people apparently need the imaginary reward to enjoy or do something.
Naw. They have absolutely no reason at all to go to war.

. . . waaaait, people actually paid attention to them after starting up and checking what they were? I usually just let it ride until I found out I hadn’t gotten it yet.
I think that is why people struggle with them. Because they are so “in your face” with that tracker, it quickly feels like something that has to be done. In fact, the reason why I chose to ignore them last night, was because I started to feel that pressure myself, and I did not want to play like that.

Desolation (EU)
They’ve always been a lagfest for me. Really, did no one have lag at those things before this patch? Ever?
I rarely had lag at huge events events and when I did I would notice choppiness in my framerate and it would actually feel like I was lagging normally. This is just massive spell lag and event lag. By event lag I mean dragons themselves are lagging, getting stuck, disappearing and such. I press a button to activate a spell and it doesn’t happen for 10 seconds.
I know, that was what happened to me before this patch as well. In that regard, the patch did not change anything for me. Maybe it was because my server is one of the more crowded ones?
They’ve always been a lagfest for me. Really, did no one have lag at those things before this patch? Ever?
The best part about dailies is you don’t have to do them. Or you can. It’s up to you, just like anything else in this game. You don’t have a full set of ascended stuff? No problem. There is nothing that can’t be done without them.
Fractals requires Ascended gear for further progression. If it wasn’t for that, you would be right.
You don’t need ascended gear until level 20ish. And fractals are also optional, nothing in the game is mandatory unless having best in slot gear is mandatory to you.
Leaving the tutorial area is completely optional as well.
And there are some people who never left it or Pre-Searing Ascalon (before there was a title). People are weird sometimes.
Yep, on Desolation, there’s a guy called “Defender of Shaemoor” – a player who leveled to 80 in the tutorial area :’)
There is a 20-30-min ish run where you can get a key. Create a human warrior of the commoner storyline, and run the personal story till level 10. If you let the NPCs do all the work, you’ll get it done fairly easily.
I’ve done this a few times when I was bored. :p
*Edit: I remember in the betas that keys dropped from chests as well. One time I was able to open 5 chests with only one starter key, because I got new keys in the chest. Hasnt happened for a long time though.
I use the game to relax. So I explore and do random stuff I feel like at the moment.
