Some skill slot(Phantasms) consistency?

in Mesmer

Posted by: TwiceDead.1963

TwiceDead.1963

Well I’d say once all are unlocked, allow swapping of abilities between weapon slots, but only on the same weapon.

As in:

  • For 2Hed weapons I can swap all abilities in all 5 slots.
  • For Main Hand I can change the #1-#3 skills however I want, but I can’t use them to #4 or #5.
  • For Off Hand weapons I can only reverse the order.
  • For Thieves, #3 is fixed and cannot be moved.

I’d like something like this… Sounds like the most sensible way to do it.

I just can’t fathom that the UI isn’t customizable! Every MMO I have played has had the option to customize your own UI, moving the sliders, and more importantly moving your skills around… Anet! What’s the deal?

Some skill slot(Phantasms) consistency?

in Mesmer

TwiceDead.1963

So yeah… The skill slots. All the phantasms have their own button, but across all the weapons they are all the same kind of skill. Why can’t they just be locked to one button? I mean… It’s not really game-breaking, it’s just a matter of convenience. If I got used to the Focus Phantasm which is on Slot 5; then I switch to pistol off-hand, and keep pressing Slot 5 to cast a phantasm because I got so used to it on my previous weapon… Except that’s not what happens. What happens is that I fire the magic bullet instead by mistake, because I got so used to having my phantasms on Slot 5 It’s kind of become a reflex to push that button when I need to.

So can’t they just do it simple? For off-hand weapons move the phantasms to button 4 or 5 for ALL the one-handed weapons, then leave the phantasm for two-handers on button 3, as it seems to be where it universally resides(well not really it’s a tie between 3, and 4)

Sword Phantasm:
Slot 5.

Pistol Phantasm:
Slot 4.

Great-sword Phantasm:
Slot 4.

Staff Phantasm:
Slot 3

Focus Phantasm:
Slot 5

Torch Phantasm:
Slot 5

Spear Phantasm:
Slot 3

Trident Phantasm:
Slot 4

Not really keeping it consistent across the board here…

Anyway this is just my opinion.

But I think you should tidy up your language and your attitude. A good suggestion is measured by how many supporters you get for one. So tidy it up, make it for all world bosses, not only for dragons, use Jormag as a good example how it can be done, incorporate the fact that they should be still doable with smaller groups of people and you will have my vote.

Don’t need a lesson, and I don’t think you should run around educating people on behavior. Sometimes, ventilation is all that’s needed. The only thing that matters is where you do it.

EDIT: Moved to top post, because why not? No point reading this, but leaving it here nonetheless.

Last off all there are 3 dragons in dynamic world events. One could argue that the first two (the shatterer and Tequatl) are a bit easy. On the other hand they are nothing easier then any other world event.

Oh well.

I gave more than enough information in my post on dragons, and if you didn’t get that message or understand what I am talking about then I guess you are just slow… They are simply too easy. 1 minute after they’re announced, they are dead…

Do something for gods sake, it’s ridiculous. I thought events scaled with the amount of players. In which case, Tequatl, and the Shatterer both need desperate attention. They’re the “Big bad dragons” after all, that everyone in the lore is so godkitten afraid of. Really, they are too easy.

Then there is Jormag, whose only difficulty is how he artificially lengthen the battle by forcing players to bash on a block of ice that has far more HP than the boss itself while casting a cheap damaging debuff on people that get too close… He doesn’t do ANYTHING while he’s behind that block of ice! He summons his minions, and that’s it. He just sits there behind his block of ice going “Can’t touch this!”… It’s not hard, it’s just tedious.

Actually, in most of the battles, the dragons don’t do kitten. The things you have to look out for are their minions. Look at Tequatl when he first arrives. He kittening leaps out of the ocean, wrecks a tower before he lands in front of the big scary cannon. Then what? He drops some stuff from his wings… Once in a while he’ll cry, and make everyone turn away laughing at the sight of a crying dragon. What if it used it’s agility to actually do something else than stand still taking anything that hits it? It’s clearly capable of such considering it’s entrance.

Elaborate enough for you?

Want to deal DPS? Just play the game.

In no way is GW2’s system perfect though. Kind of miss being able to heal other players by major amounts by pressing one button.

Just make the dragon battles in this game harder… You can up the rewards if you feel like it, but make dragon battles more exciting than they currently are. For instance it would be fun if the dragons actually used their flying to move around the battleground bombarding everybody on the ground till he decides to be nice, and come back down again.

Seriously now, i have achieved my epic level of coolness, not the only thing missing in my opinion is a motorcycle from my charr. I’m literally sick and tired of having nothing new to look forward to in… anything. Always gear, which in the end, looks the same and makes no difference what so ever.

How to make Dragon Events fun

Remove the ability to whack a dragons toe to kill it and rely on siege weaponry to make it vulnerable. Or rather make siege weapons have the dragon fall to the ground so that whacking it’s face becomes possible. It looks stupid that a lot of tiny midgets just swarm the darn things feet and smack it several times. One dragon where you have the option to use some kind of floating lazer cannon, the cannon is NEVER used. People just charge head-on and smack the darn things toes… Yeah that’s fun. I’m having more fun at regular events and other kind of boss events than dragons simply because dragons are big piles of SUCK.

@Twicedead
And how someone will be level 1 with 100% completion? Please can you explain it to me? Even to complete some dungeons you have some level cap to play it in a normal mode without be killed by one shot, i can´t even imagine how it will work to play as LV1 complete normal and hard as LV1… or you have a real good friends to put you in a 20 slot bag or kill every single mob in the dungeon in normal and hard, just for you to get rare itens at level 1…

Sorry you are telling nothing with sense to me.

People making stupid things like confronting a boss naked in a dungeon inf front other players to receive nothing is real stupid, it´s not acomplishment. Is like those world records some people made like stay in a poll fulled with kitten for a month or something like that.

And give a player something more to do when we have nothing more is a good way to keep people playing but it can be a dubious concept for some people and I will not waste more of mi time trying to make anyone understand my point of view.

Bye.

You didn’t get my point. o_o

People have more than one character, and can easily share gear between them. Get one character to 100% completion, use him/her as a moneymaker then the rest of the characters will be handheld through the rest of the game since level 1. That’s how.

Again i’ll ask are we doing this for the challenge or for the rewards? Turning this game to hard mode won’t necessarily make it any harder whatsoever since the AI in this game isn’t exactly smart, more often than not it’s easily countered, that’s part the reason the game is so kittening easy.

I like your arrogance by the way, sorry for wasting your precious time even though you yourself made the choice to read my posts… If they are such a waste of time, why bother?

The return of [Hard Mode]

TwiceDead.1963

@Twice dead
What you are saying is, for people to feel acomplishment they must act against the logic and give nothing in return except do something against of logic.

Yeah, very clever.

And if ANY TIME you ever played GW, you will know something about what HARD MODE is for a GW1 player, instead of just mumbling that people must act like idiots just to feel acomplishment.

Hard mode is not about powerful itens, its more about better rewards. GW1 has a cap for everything so you never have something better just because you do something harder, it´s more getting a better chance to get a new sprite or a perfect rune or a rare polymock piece.

So before telling something more just know what people are talking about instead telling them to shut off.

And in GW1 newer players have to complete 100% of something to enable hard mode, so it was never a problem for anyone.

You just proved yourself wrong. You didn’t understand.

What I am saying is Hard Mode is unnecessary to give players who have already accomplished a lot even easier access to good content. It makes the game economy totally imbalanced. We would start seeing level 1’s running around with rare sets sold for 10 gold had this persisted a year (although level 1 rare’s doesn’t exist as far as I know). This is not Guild Wars 1, deal with it.

If you want a tougher more challenging experience, i’m telling you to make your own challenges instead of having the developers create a mode for a certain few people.

Players acting like idiots is what you regard a person giving himself a challenge? So what? If it’s fun for them and they don’t ruin for other people what’s the problem?

I was not speaking of getting BETTER items, I was speaking of getting MORE of the better stuff. If you want to get better stuff, purchase a magic find booster for 150 gems in the store, or get one from a black lion chest or something of the like.

So is this topic on a hard mode specifically for the challenge or for the increase in drop rate for easier access to the good stuff? If it’s for the challenge BY ALL MEANS by my guest! You don’t need hard mode for a challenge. If it’s for more rewards, then i’m not for it.

Also I’m not telling anyone to shut off, so far I’ve remained rather civil unlike my usual standards. Like you, I am expressing my opinion without claiming that you are attacking people.

Part of the games beauty is it’s replayability. Myself I have one of each class/race and I am happy with every character except the Sylvari because they suck (IMO).

Again, why? Why do you want to change races? What’s the point? Just re-roll! Easy as that! Unless you by some godforbidding mistake made every and each one of your character of the same race and brought them all up to 80 for some stupid reason in which case you’re on your own. An appearance change I get, but a race change? I wouldn’t bet my life on that.

Re-roll. That simple. The experience won’t be the same because you’ll be in a different starting area with different quests.

Instead of equipping your best gear, equip gear 10-20 levels bellow your level. Use a weapon you’re unfamiliar with an such. There’s no need for the developers to alter droprates for a few completionists in their favor, it would be downright unfair because other (newer) players wouldn’t have the same privilege, or rather they would be unable to.

Nah. Instead spending time implementing a hardmode while there is still a bazillion bugs to be fixed in the game, just make a hardmode for yourself.

Considering Ice is just cold water that has frozen over due to drops in temperature, Ice would be a combination of Air and Water, whereas I imagine air has the ability to control temperature, which could be wishful thinking.

Under a normal circumstance, for ice to become really solid it will have to linger in one place for a really long time to reach the potential that rock has.

Nah, the elementalist is fine with the current weapons IMO.
