How is it possible to be kicked from a map event?

People glare at you real hard.

Very unsettling.

People have been known to X out of the game reflexively upon receiving “the stare”

These people must be light as a feather and made of glass… Interesting.

How would this build fare in WvW zergs?

That’s a lot of good info! Thanks a bunch.

I tweaked it a little bit and replaced an earring another Marauder Earring, pushing the boon-duration down to 46.6% according to the builder, which should leave me at 99.6% with the food you suggested.

I think I am going to run with Strength sigils, along with force, I like the idea of Strength because it retains the theme I was going, just a boon-trooper… But maybe I’ll just use a Sigil of Fire instead, at least for ranged combat.

Why the underwater weapon as well though…?

Tried making a build myself, it’s not particularly focused but it does a little bit of everything, I guess… Some added Boon Duration while having a mix of damage and defense.

I am also unsure what sigils to grab for my weapons… I’d appreciate any helpful pointers of how I can potentially improve this without altering it too much.

Is Boon Duration even worth it on Revs considering they have the Facet? I kinda liked the idea of a heavy-armor boon-trooper though…

Players are wrong, and are given tools and advice to help them find filled maps.
Players refuse to make use of said tools and advice, and proceeds to complain about maps being dead.

You do know that all pve maps are region wide right?

So your saying that either eu region or na region do dragon stand once a week?

Must be na since I know eu do it atleast once a day.
Just becouse your unlucky and dont get into the active maps dont mean that people arent doing it.

EU’s Dragon’s Stand is completed several times a day. The only times I have difficulties getting enough people for completing the event is 1:00 – 5:00am in the middle of the night (gmt-0 times) on weekdays.

I’m looking at Sigil of Earth, and you have a 60% chance to bleed targets on crit with a 2-sec cooldown.

Once it triggers, in regards to cleaving attacks, is there a 2-sec cooldown before another enemy can be procced, or is there a 2-sec cooldown before that first target can be procced again and you are free to proc someone else meantime?

WvW - Superspeed Build?

TwiceDead.1963

Oh yeah, I am aware of the limitations on affected targets. I wasn’t aware Mesmer can do it better… I assume they don’t have the same amount of sustain an Engineer does which could make Engineer valuable for the role, but I don’t really know as I don’t play Mesmer much.

WvW - Superspeed Build?

TwiceDead.1963

So I started running Engineer in WvW 3 weeks ago, every weekend, and I am having a blast with it. Ripped the Frontline scrapper build from metabattle and just did some stuff to suit my personal taste efficiency be kitten ed, and I am still having a blast with it.

Then i read something about a superspeed support build, basically spam superspeed all around and I thought, that would be superuseful in a zerg around the commander, right?

But I am having struggles making it work. I figure I am supposed to blast lightning fields to spread superspeeds to allies, utilizing the electric fields drones generate when they break, but I can’t quite find a balance of opportunities for blasts and blasts themselves. One issue is that drones have a ridiculous delay on self-destructs, and occasionally don’t register at all so when it finally does happen, the zerg has moved on.

… Any tips? Or am I at a fools errand right now and should just stick to frontline?

This seems very backwards to me. Why would you list an overall DPS measure when it isn’t true during regular testing without any boons or aids?

Wouldn’t it make a lot more sense to first list what the thief could do on his own, then add more as you factor in various buffs and scenarios? You avoid a lot of confusion that way.

Static Discharge feels... Inconsistent.

TwiceDead.1963

So I’ve been playing around with static discharge lately.

And it feels inconsistent as kitten. Sometimes it shoots immediately, not in the target’s direction, other times it doesn’t shoot before a second later, and sometimes it doesn’t shoot at all.

All on the same skill I’ve used to test with. (Surprise Shot on 8s cooldown).

What gives? Is there an internal cooldown on the thing? It doesn’t say.

Making hammer Engineer work

TwiceDead.1963

Eh, I got it … Working, depending on how you define that word and what your expectations are.

Took the Frontline Scrapper build from WvW and made a few alterations for it. Damage is kitten, until you count the 90% quickness uptime. Then damage becomes… Alright, I guess. I am not running full zerker. Tankiness is awesome though, but in PvE you really don’t need all that much tankiness for engineers as they have a super healing ability with 17k health, they aren’t nearly as glassy as thieves.

The quickness uptime combined with 25 stacks of might work wonders with explosives and Grenades though, so there’s that.

… So yeah. It works.

TwiceDead.1963

If a thief has to reset, he has lost the engagement as he’s also resetting the opponent. If anything, the next time the Thief engages it’ll be at a disadvantage because the opponent will be ready.

The opponent’s kitten will be on cooldown, that’s the whole point of the resetting.

Depends on the opponent. If you burn all your strongest skills with the longest cooldowns in a panic which gives the thief an easy read of your kitten nal, that’s on you.

Anet is testing if making a situation so absurd the players will shift to the winning build or stay with their own.

I don’t think social experiments are a good idea in this game at this state of loosing revenue and players but well, it is not my company.

On another point the solution is pretty simple: Stealth must not stack anymore.

That’s not the solution, because it breaks thief.

Doing damage while staying stealthed is the problem.

Thief has many defensive tools, learn to use them.

Stealth should be used only as short duration efect to close gap or escape, no as means to fight or reset the fight.
No stacking stealth means no more trolling thieves, Mesmers or druids which is fantastic for the health of this game.

If a thief has to reset, he has lost the engagement as he’s also resetting the opponent. If anything, the next time the Thief engages it’ll be at a disadvantage because the opponent will be ready.

Question is in the title. Wondering if anybody is having moderate success with sword-builds when compared to the D/P dominance. Getting kind of bored of it and I want to try something new when roaming or sPvP’ing.

What’s the reason swords are so underutilized anyway? They seem to have decent damage per hit, and the cripple/weakness is kinda nice isn’t !t? Maybe not so much on the DPS department though..

I’d like to see this, but I don’t know how feasible it is. Wearing a shield on your back looks hella cool even if you’re not going to use it in combat, so unlocking a back item skin with the shield whenever you unlocked a shield skin would be great, right? Because there are some really cool shields out there that look great for fashion even if you’re not gonna use em’… Although it could probably be a bit of confusion seeing an Elementalist running with a shield, or a thief or something. Could mess with people and mistake what class they are in PvP or some stuff.

I know giant angel wings is the whole rage right now though, so I’d understand if this wasn’t a priority… Or ever planned for that matter.

Posted by: TwiceDead.1963

TwiceDead.1963

The reason you’re having trouble is because that build is designed with the assumption you’ll be playing with a team that provides direct healing support and boons/buffs to optimize your performance.

The raid build isn’t designed for solo content, or even 5-man content. Even if you weren’t dying, it’s just not really the ideal setup for open world content or even dungeons (where power is generally preferred, anyway).

I strongly disagree.
You can make up a lot of the faults the raid build has by simply playing well and still utilize a great amount of it’s potential.

It has literally zero stun breakers. It’s just not designed for solo content.

More importantly, condi is absolutely not worth running if mobs die in five seconds. Running around in Lake Doric with that build is just hilarious. Just wear full Berserker and tag everything with bombs for literally identical if not superior damage.

You don’t need stun-breaks for open-world PvE content.
Besides, IF you do, you have one auto-stun-break built into one of your trait lines. Dealing with trash mobs shouldn’t be a problem either, even if you are absolute trash at kiting the terrible AI, you have blinds for DAYS. Enemies that can’t be blinded usually have highly telegraphed and slow attacks, and a mere flank avoids the damage entirely.

I don’t know about the latter either. When you speak of enemies that don’t go down in 5 seconds I assume you mean veterans and elites… They will after I’m done lighting the world on fire. 6-10k burn damage per tick is pretty nice after only using 3 skills.

Long enough to know that while wyverns are indeed a plague in Verdant Brink, they never visit that particular camp, EVER. Arguments could be made that it’s because of the flamethrower acting as a deterrent, but that begs the question: Where were they before the camp got set up? And why do they still hang around camps that has a flamethrower?

Answer: Because they spawn at set locations.

Even then, the thumper’s placement is the biggest offender. It is the frontline turret, yet is placed as far away in the back of the camp as possible to… Take care of the enemies that go for it after they’re done raiding the camp?

Often I fail, but that’s a minor setback because there’s no penalty other than having to run back to where I were.

It’s not supposed to be a downtime moment for you to explain things and manage your inventory, it’s supposed to be a dangerous and hectic encounter with a dragon that has caused the entire world trouble for months.

You are supposed to be on edge for the entirety of it, fighting against the threat of Mordremoth for REAL, and you’re really just proving my point. He’s not a threat for most of it, not when players are given time to make camp, manage through inventory and discuss todays weather.

It’s ridiculous. People are bored out of their minds during these events.

The Dragon's Stand final encounter.

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TwiceDead.1963

TwiceDead.1963

EDIT:
This is meant to be feedback, I think I could’ve made that clearer in the title.

Onwards:
I love Dragon’s Stand. I spend a lot of time in this zone merely playing the game and not even bothering with the loot, on a bad day I can just drop everything I am doing and zone out for a bit, and enjoy myself some Dragon’s Stand. I get three flavors of events and bosses to choose from, and occasionally I mix the three for good measure.

There’s a lot I like about this event. Could things be better? Definitely, but it’s still good… Aside from one glaring encounter: The Mouth of Mordremoth.

Holy… This encounter, is so monotonous and boring I cannot even… Everything leading up to it is a series of rough encounters and somewhat interesting events, but then the Mordremoth fight itself happens, and then people are left doing jack for most of it.

At that point you have 9 islands to defend, but you are encouraged to spread out among the islands to ensure none of the islands get destroyed by the various hazards that MAY or MAY NOT show up on a given island, so if the island you have decided to protect isn’t the chosen one, you are left twiddling your thumbs while waiting for a luck-of-the-draw visit from Mordremoth or some other hazard, and hopefully he’ll be bashing his head against the surface of the island so that people actually wake up.. If he’s just going to barf or yell at you, people aren’t likely to be any more awake than they were before.

No wonder people AFK at this event, there’s nothing to do for most of it. You sit there on your island, watching Mordremoth bash his head against the rock-surface or yelling at people at some far off island in the distance, even if you wanted to go over there and bash his face in, chances are he’ll be gone by the time you get there. Then the bomb phase happens and you get that bar down, afterwards you repeat the boredom.

Who in their right mind thought defending 9 islands where only 2 of those islands get attacked at one time was a good idea? If you’re going to have a bunch of islands for people to defend, ensure that they always have something to prevent them from falling asleep.

I hope they learned from this fight, and utilize that knowledge to create a more interesting dragon encounter in the next expansion, because the Mouth of Mordremoth is about as intimidating and exciting as a drawn out yaaaaawn.

Would it be more thematically correct if it was a 2-second evasion instead? I mean nothing would change gameplay wise… Just visually, as It’d basically become the equivalent of a mesmers Distortion Shatter, except you get a counter at the end of it.

Marauders or Zerkers?

in Thief

Posted by: TwiceDead.1963

TwiceDead.1963

How much damage do you lose approx from going from Zerkers to Marauders? and how does that compare to the amount of survivability you gain?

From what I can gather, considering Thief only has around ~12k HP at base, they have quite a lot to gain from a small increase in Vitality compared to say a Necro’s already high health-pool. But considering we have Critical Strikes which scale really well with both Power and Ferocity, something Zerker gear has in buckets, is the damage loss worth it if you can already play around your low health-pool? Or can your own skill only carry you so far?

I mean for both PvE and PvP settings… As I dabble a little bit on both sides, so share your opinion! I would really appreciate it.

I am not really looking for solid facts, just general opinions. I was thinking of switching from Zerkers to Marauders, but I am poor and constantly so..

Nobody is saying Staff can’t duel or win those duels, if anything people have said that staff is an excellent dueling weapon, at least from what I can gather from reading the thread.

What they have been saying though, is that Staff doesn’t bring the same amount of utility as D/P does, and that is true, no matter how you bend or break the arguments in staff’s favor.

Use Weakening Charge from staff to make enemies less punishing, and Haste when you need to heal through Invigorating Precision if you’re in the thick of it.

Otherwise, if you’re gonna run all zerkers there’s not much you can do but staying on your toes. You only have 12k HP and medium armor, there’s no getting around your squishyness… But hey, at least we’re not Ele’s, right?

Yeah we can spam unload.. But believe me, in pvp you get punished by that, with the share amount of projectile reflextion.. So have no idea why we cannot have a 1200+ option.. I mean even our steal reach further thn our arrows and bullets..

1200 range just won’t happen…

The devs are under the impression that thieves can’t have a long-ranged option when they have all the initiative, they pretty much decide when to engage and disengage, so whether or not you kill a thief depends on whether or not the thief is stupid enough to stay around and fight when he should be running.

Basically we have all the tools we need to easily close the gap, and shouldn’t be able to attack from the edges of a combat-zone when we have the best tools to escape an encounter.

Is their impression anyway, that’s not my impression. Sure, we can run, but that’s all we are known for now, decaps, +1’s and running away, yet our impact in sPvP is… Meh.
