There are a lot of ways to go here, and many previously posted builds in these forums already.
I would probably go P/S with Juggernaut as a start and maybe Kit Refinement as well.
Runes of the Dolyak, Sigil of might swapped to other Sigils (Flame Blast and Regen) once the might stacks are maxed.
Or for damage maybe this with P/TV armor mixed in:

Add a Sigil of Corruption on a different weapon to stack 25 +Condition damage then swap in the life steal.

I just wanted to be the 1000th post of the thread.
I missed most of the week with a broken clavicle, but reset night was fun.
Looking forward to T1 again.
Great start, unfortunately SBI is already dead.
TC would probably be ahead if there was a competitive 3rd server :x
This made me snort tea through my nose. Thanks for the chuckle.
Fun fights in the TC BL at Woodhaven ( or whatever it’s called on that map), and Godsword. You guys defended the tower well. I appreciate the fact that you sacrifice yourselves on the alter of killing siege so I can farm bags.
Try this again with the correct dates.
Good luck to all.
Here we go for Score and Discussion!
Ah the 80’s, a fount of great culture.
I grew up during that era, I want a lot more time back.
All servers recruit for coverage.
A bit of history of Sanctum of Rall server and how it came to be…..

My GW2 Home: Sanctum of Rall
Posted on July 18, 2012by Moxie….
This morning, I heard the news that they are indeed implementing “Sanctum of Rall” as a server. I admit that I cried tears of happiness over this. THANK YOU ArenaNet, for being so awesome. You just made a whole lot of people ecstatically happy. We will do our best to make Sanctum of Rall an amazing home for all playstyles and all players that roll there, just as Oldroar would have wanted.
Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea.
So with Kit Refinement, the Flamethrower has an on impact condition removal?
Could you give me a source for that please?
I’m pretty sure it’s a bug on the Flamethower, but it does work.
I ran a P/P condition build (burns primarily) this past week with that sigil equiped. I loved it, and it made for more bag drops, and a much easier time solo flipping camps than my tank build. My only problem was survivability.
I have a wonder: if Sanctum of Rall enters T1, we would have 4 Tier 1 capable servers.
Does that mean us in T2 will always have a benched T1 server dominating us?
I would guess that would be the case, but that’s exactly what SoR has been doing for the last 2 and a half months. There is a lot to be said for being the gatekeeper to Tier 1, and that’s what the tier 2 blue server will always be.
While it sucks to lose stuff over night, I always knew there would be fights somewhere, and towers and keeps to take back.
Interesting news coming for tonights matchup.
Do tell!!!

The reason I enjoy WvW so much is for the great fights when there are numbers on the maps from all sides. I really don’t care what tier my server is in as long as it’s competitive. While I enjoy the strategy of siege and counter siege, open field is where it’s at. SBI and TC both bring fun open field combat when the numbers are there. Thanks for a great week to all.
In honor of our position change next week.
I can see a war hammer paired with a shield as an Engineer choice.

(edited by Tyaen.5148)
Also, if I’m not mistaken, it’s not a regen buff. It’s a heal over time.
Well, the 3 skills I mentioned protect the siege weapon. that’s the whole point to not let the enemy destroy your trebuchet or your walls/gates. So there’s no engineer skill to protect siege weapons?
Smoke screen is available on thrown elixir u, however it’s random, so it’s a 33% chance you get what you want.
I don’t think an Engineer should focus on Bleed stacking or Burn stacking specifically, when they can both at the same time incredibly effectively. The +50% cutoff for Bleed is probably the most important for the extra tick, but beyond that I wouldn’t specialize in anything. Condition damage works on all conditions, and the choice of sigils/traits that would be seen as focusing on bleeding are still just as good in one that theoretically focuses on burning.
Heck personally I have +50% to all condition duration, which makes all my conditions violent. It’s the sheer overload of every damage condition out there that makes the Engineer condition builds effective in my eyes. We can’t stack enough intensity on Bleeds no matter what we do, and Burning can’t do the damage alone. It’s everything at once that the trick.
I don’t disagree, I just prefer to trait for burn duration and damage, as burn does higher base damage.
I only run WvW and the occasional Fractal so keep that in mind.
I prefer to run tanky in WvW so as not to rally downed players. P/S is great for a couple of reasons. Blast finisher on magnetic inversion (not to mention reflection on range, and the push back to knock people off cliffs). The #5 skill is amazing though. Block, get hit and stun the opponent, or block don’t get hit and throw the shield for a dmage dealing daze on the way out, and on the way back.
P/P engineer is definitely fun though if trait-ed to properly stack burns and duration’s. Once I figure out how to make that build more survivable I’ll go back to it.
If you are trait-ing for bleed stacking, a shield would probably still work, but if you are a burn build you have to go P/P.
Edit:
The Wiki does a great job of explaining some interesting effect the reflect can have.
(edited by Tyaen.5148)
Where do we come in? When do I get to read in chat, kitten it’d be nice if we could get an engineer here!"
Trait-ed properly we can put light fields down faster than any class. When running in WvW there are many situations where stackable area retaliation is highly desired.
We also have a low cool down fire field. There are many situation where stackable might is highly desired.
I could go on, but the WiKi does a great job of explaining our combo fields.
I’m also going to say don’t underestimate the #5 ability on the shield.
Keep it up SoR. current score trends now have our evolution putting us up to 1st in tier next week.
Let us not get ahead of ourselves. If we are to rise to tier 1 let us do so in due time, with sufficient numbers and most importantly, the the right people and Guilds. Having said that, I’m very excited to see our server growing and improving
I didn’t say Tier 1, I said first in Tier. Score evolution has us a long way from Tier 1 as Blackgate is still trending up.
I ran a similar build in WvW this week with the exception being I swap Elixir C for Elixir U.
I’m not sure why you bother carrying Elixir C unless it is for the toolbelt, because you never popped it when you had conditions on you.
The setup (for me anyway) was great for solo roaming and solo camp flipping due to high DPS. Burns really do a ton of damage. My problems came in bigger groups as the survivability is terrible. I was constantly having to jump out and heal up. I may find a mix that works for me eventually, but I’ve switched back to P/S Power/Tough/Vit Juggernaut for the time being.
Keep it up SoR. current score trends now have our evolution putting us up to 1st in tier next week.
edited to clarify… Meant shouldn’t have transferred to, what it looks like, strongest server in this tier.
Well SoR was 2nd before this week in T2 and was for a LONG time. Not sure why you are complaining.
I guess because the scores easily reflect that SoR is currently already the strongest in the tier before they made the switch.
We’re used to this though, bandwagoners hop here and there, servers rise and fall.
Every server recruits. Paid transfers are coming, so if you are transferring now is the time.
If we are going to compete with SoS, we are going to have to increase coverage.
Thank you for the warm welcome Sanctum of Rall. We look forward in working with you.
I popped into TC BL last night at the end of my play time and ran with your group. I think the commanders name was Desdamona. Masterful job of tactical portaling. When we went to Spirithome and were a bit out numbered she moved around like a master with the portals, until we could whittle the numbers and take the camp.
Props on the garrison take as well, though I believe FEAR was there and TW as well.
Strike Force, look forward to seeing your tags on the battlefield.
Score update?
(edited by Tyaen.5148)
Score evolution ’Nuff said.
Anyone been following the T1 scores? I find them quite interesting
It’s almost impossible to be doing that badly during oceanic prime time with the numbers and skill that BG have shown themselves capable of. Either the other 2 servers are absolute monstrosities with 4 full map queues and godlike players or BG gave up. I find that quite a disappointment as I was rooting for them to make a showing after beating T2 so badly =/
Umm…
Do you understand the scoring system? Their current score evolution is plus 19K where JQ is -25K. You don’t necessarily have to win to move up. They are certainly doing better than the server they replaced in T1, SBI’s evolution is currently -66K
I was referring to the screens of BG being kept at like 50ppt during oceanic prime, where they would have 600+ in T2. I don’t see how any server that could field their numbers can lose every keep and every tower, hence my observation. I guess I wasn’t too clear in that, but please be rest assured I do understand the scoring system and have no need of your education
Ah, well in that case it’s understandable as SoS has amazing Oceanics.

Happily leaving WvW with the lead for the second night in a row.
Took us a while but we finally got Hills back in SoR.
Bed time. Good fights all day today in SoR BL.
What the OP is saying is logical though, and is probably what leads to most blue servers feeling like it’s a predetermined double team.
1; Burst damage is high if Zerker player fires at zerker player. Jackie has about 20k hp on his warrior, which is about right for someone wearing at least a few pieces zerker gear. Thieves have almost 50% less HP when wearing zerker gear compared to Invader gear, not to mention no toughness. I think eles are at similar numbers. The burst damage is definitely not too high between two invader geared characters. It’s an active choice by you to allow the burst damage targeting you to be so high. If I remember correctly, VotF like to run zerk builds in their warbands. You also have to remember that in this video, you have several people hitting the same spot. The people dying in 2 seconds are doing so because each of them are being hit by multiple people. (The only exception to this rule are some Thief abilities like Backstab which is stupid high even in full invader gear IMO, but they are all single target and rarely matter in larger fights.)
All classes have either a Stun breaker/teleport or some kind of damage invulnerability button. Anet has given you the tools to avoid burst. If you don’t do it, then it is your own fault. If you watch the video you will see that almost every time Jackie uses all of his utilities for the initial burst. Frenzy to get the high damage, Endure pain to counter the drawback of frenzy and to stop the vast number of enemies whose attention he just got, from killing him, and balanced stance to prevent CC from countering him. Many of his teammates probably do similar things. Had his opponents popped their damage immunity/teleport and just kited him for 5 seconds they would now be 2 utility cooldowns up on him. Had they equipped invader gear they would not be dead but just on low hp. If you know what you are doing, burst isn’t hard to counter.
You argue that the burst is to high, I would definitely say no. To allow a character to do the high burst you give up way to much survivability and utility for something that is countered so easily. In the end it’s mostly subjective though. I don’t think a TTK, for 3 people hitting 1 guy who isn’t defending himself, of 2 seconds is a long time in a game with so much damage avoidance.
2; As for the culling issue, yes sometimes it does suck, but it hits organized guilds as well as you can see at the end of the clip. Go back and look at the video. In every situation they are hitting enemies, where at least one person is aware of them, indicated by the fact that they are being attacked before they hit the main group. Now this person probably does not relay the information to the others, because they are fighting PuGs, but that’s because of lacking communication on the PuGs part, not because of culling. In several instances they are also on top of people dealing damage for 2-3 seconds without these people reacting. They keep on running while dieing. If they were any good, as soon as they took damage without seeing the source, they should have dodgerolled, teleported or popped a cooldown. But they are bads, thus they do not react.
3; The amount of scrubbery in WvW is staggering. These scrubs come to WvW excpecting to win, even though they have little clue about the game and have no intention of improving or realizing their flaws. They then lose over and over and instead of finding a solution, they come to the forums and blame their defeats on the game or cheap tactics.
They are the worst kind of player, not beacause they are bad, but because they refuse to improve.
Instead they want everyone else to become as bad as they are. They usually also refuse to accept the fact that they are bad and comfort themselves by saying that everyone calling them out on it is a no-lifer that lives in their parents basement.Playing purely for fun with no intention on improving is perfectly fine. I do not have a problem with that, I even do it myself in many games. But don’t come on the forums kittening and moaning because you got beaten by someone who plays to win then.
This post is pure win. I echo your thoughts.
Great video, loved the music overlay.
While I think it should be fixed, every server has the ability to use the invulnerable spots.
It also makes for some serious entertainment.
Farming badges in WvW.
Farewell Blackgate, I’ll miss getting run over by 20 of you as I solo roam. Good luck in T1.
Looking forward to seeing what SBI has to offer. Haven’t fought them since I left JQ oh so many weeks ago.
I’m at work so I can’t test this. Thought I’d see if anyone else has tested. If you trait Kit Refinement and Static Discharge, does the Static Discharge fire when the random toolkit toolbelt spell fires on Kit Switch or do you actually have to fire it from the toolbelt?
I guess what I’m thinking is – switch kit, random spell and static discharge fire, press toolbelt skill, static discharge fires again.
“Go for the nerf Boo!” – Minsc
whats the point of staying alive when battle is lost?
The point is, you (running your glass cannon) rally the 20 downed enemy when they kill you and the character specced for survivability doesn’t. I have watched countless battles our team should have won fail because half a downed enemy force gets rallied.
Move to SoR and I’m in.
Turtles stopped being “meta” a long time ago in WvW because they are easy to break. It has recently come back in vogue for some reason, but I doubt it will last.
OH THE HUMANATEE
Is this a new WvW only playable race? A cross between humans and manatees, something I want to try. Maybe a cousin to the quaggans.
I think this is a score thread.
Score Update for the Holidays
To add to my previous post: I play WvW exclusively, so I can’t really speak to sPvP ot tPvP.
It works fine in the few dungeons I still go in to (Fractals), but I don’t really PvP since finishing world completion.
You want Legendary? Waste of time and resources.
fixed that for you.
…. In most cases you simply have to play flawlessly to beat other classes.
….Do not be fooled by the people who will chime in on this thread saying that the engineer class is fine, and l2p.
….
I also know that when I get on a thief or warrior it is complete easy mode in comparison.
If you are playing a skilled opponent 1v1 then you should have to play flawlessly to beat them. I don’t generally have a problem with any class, and can 1v3 or 4 on many occasions when I’m bunkering to keep a few distracted. The one exception is Thieves who hack, just not enough defense in the game to stay alive open field against a teleport hacker. If you know enough to realize most players just “burst, burst, burst” and then have nothing left, there are easy ways to counter this and win. The skilled players are the fun battles, and can last a few minutes while you figure out and try to counter each other. This is where the engi shines because of the number of options you can have available at any given time.
The engineer class isn’t fine, as with most classes it has bugs that need to be fixed. Relative to the other classes though, it is fine in most respects. Generally I won’t bother with Thieves or Mesmers open field in WvW because I usually have an objective to complete. If I’m just roaming though, watch out because I will chase you down after you’ve spent your predictable bag of tricks.
I don’t want a class where its simply “3,4,5,1,1,1,1,3,4,5,1,1,1,1,3,4,5,1,1,1,1”. I like switching kits in battle, using tool belt skills, and needing all 12 buttons. It’s more fun.
