Real good fun fighting with TW / TWL and SF on SoR BL tonight!
Still kicking ourselves in the kitten for letting you TW/TWL guys weasel in from north outer on Bay. >_<Thanks for all the good fights, GoF did as best we could with what we had!
Really wish we were fast enough to join or at least could have watched that 10 minute battle for inner bay, seemed like an epic one between SoR and BG. Lot of action on the BL tonight, good times
Yeah we battled it out at Bay for about 30 minutes. We were hoping you guys would tap some of their stuff and they would pull out, but to no avail
Once again, great fights guys!
Tonight was mostly just the 15 of us SF getting a feel for TW play style since it has been so long since we’ve regularly fought them. By the time the meeting finished the orange swords were in inner bay so we didn’t really have time to get a proper 3 way map fight going.
I was watching the north while we were hitting bay. JQ had a 30-40 man hit Dawns, then move to NE Garrison, then come back to Dawns, then move to Spirit. We had a few people in each spot to call out for reinforcements, but it never looked like there was any danger.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. SF never runs more than 15. Our roster is maybe 25 large at best.
Reading comprehension for the win! I didn’t say [SF] I said JQ, I didn’t look at the tags. [SF] was probably having their meeting in Hills. So while [SF] might have been chilling while we were hitting bay, there were large JQ forces out tapping stuff.
Grenades are not needed in WvW. When you do want to use them just switch your kit.
If you are solo roaming run whatever gear you want. If you are running with a large group and specced as glass cannon, you will get a lot of hate for rallying the enemy constantly. Wear P/T/V.
What some consider decent GvG.
What some consider decent music.

Fun times on SoR BL again tonight.
Salute to the thief I 1v1 with on the road from Garrison to Godslore. Longest it’s ever taken me to kill one of you, and thanks for not stealthing and running.
Score update while I queue.
Heh, I just deal with facts. I woke up to what was a close match for the first 10 hours on reset night to a 12k lead once the 4am shift took over. Are you denying this never happened?
Well maybe he is implying that BG and SoR don’t upgrade, siege up, repair, and make sure supply gets in. I think every SoR and BG player knows better though.
I wonder what would happen if FOO took a week off?
Sorry covenn. While we are good at sieging up our keeps and towers, we are terrible at walking supply. It’s usually a few dedicated people on SoR walking Yaks, and usually not enough to prevent Yak ganking by organized havok squads.
SoR’s got zergballs,
BG’s got zergballs,
But JQ got the biggest zergballs of them all!Zergballing is what WvWvW has evolved to and the majority of us are still having fun. Lets get out there, kick some zergballs and have some fun.
I had Zergballs, but then I saw a doctor. They’re gone now.
Crashed, so… Yak race! and Score update
And maybe mix in some P/T/V
As much as I hate giving credit to [EMP]. Whoever was running that 5 man havok, you guys are good. SoR BL
I like how you lay down glue shot and then nails when being pursued. It’s a perfect example of Parthian Tactics. Engineers are annoying and unpredictable, and I love them for that.
ah! parthian tactic! :p
now thats funny since I described it recently as the way of the mongol. feint retreat, turn around, kill.
but yea, I agree, skirmishing, hit and run, dipping, disengaging, w/e you want to call it, is where I feel I’m at my best.Alright Mask, you convinced me to switch back to 70% Boon and 60% Condition Duration. Happy now?
Im not trying to convince anyone :<
Just teasing you. I actually ran the spec a while back. I switched again last night. Fortunately water runes are cheap.
Now I’m fiddling with the traits a bit. I’m beginning to think Coated Bullets isn’t needed anymore, so I’m trying some things with that slot.
I’ve also tried getting rid of Cloaking Device, but I like it too much.
Yeah, red is better. Nothing like gaining a place in the standing only to inherit tactically worse ground.
Use Cardinal direction….
Oh you mean these conversations in TS:
“15 BG to the NE tower!” 5 seconds lapse
“You mean NW? I see swords on LV, Cliff doesn’t have any.”
Going to be an interesting new week as BG is Red and SoR turns blue! I’m pretty sure I’m going to run into alot of blue portals by accident… =(
I know right? And I was just starting to call everything in our BL by the correct names too….
I forgot about that. What’s Gods called now?
Dangit no one said there would be a quiz!
I really need to know so I can adjust. Normally it’s:
“15 JQ at God’s. We have about 3 defenders.” 5 seconds lapse.
“Never mind, they’re running.”
It’s important to adjust so I can properly troll Noodles on the boards :-)
Here’s an example: Blackgate (#2) lost 14 points this week. Tarnished Coast (#4) gained 11.86. If they both averaged half that (-7 and +5.93 respectively), they would swap places in 11 weeks.
Emphasis added is mine. That is precisely the problem.

As usual JQ running away in T1 like a boss because the other servers are tactically better T1 material.
Fixed that for you.
This forum really is a comedy goldmine. Anyway here are some stats from this week;
- JQ should be thankful to their Asian & European support; their NA prime squad would’ve lost the match to SoR by 3.5k points (18:00 – 02:00 EST).
- JQ’s off-peak presence generated a 50k+ point advantage over SoR.
- No notable changes in performance since Monday morning compared to the weekend; biggest being JQ gaining 1.15 percentage point.
- Compared to last week: JQ +1.75 percentage point, SoR +0.43 & BG -2.18 (ouch).Data: Millenium.org, time in EST, ticks include downed cows and sentries. X-axis values represent the average tick in a given hour (p.e. 23:00 means 23:00-23:59).
If the match was in doubt we wouldn’t have had any issue pushing hard in NA prime. I know I for one took the past two days to sort of relax and do some PvE/Guild Bounty’s and I know Strike Force did a lowbie night. Both of which wouldn’t have happened if the match was close.
Yeah, because the other servers all live in a vacuum and don’t do events.
JQ Asia Prime pushes 550PPT.
That amazing! (Say it in Huell Howser’s voice.)
Then roll your eyes.

Alright Mask, you convinced me to switch back to 70% Boon and 60% Condition Duration. Happy now?
Real players roam as an Engineer.
Fixed that for you.
I haven’t noticed the Elixir S camera bug in a while on my Asura Engi. It might be because I’m playing on my 42 inch TV though.
Combine the HGH and Confusion Engi.
I prefer condition damage myself. When fighting condition duration engineers, with my build, I have no trouble winning. I’m not sold on duration being the end all configuration for an engineer.
Either works. You winning is more about your skill than your build. I win a lot on all my builds. Some are easier to win with than others :-)
Then you don’t answer, no need to be harsh with the little guy.
Don’t let him discover how grumpy our communty is! It’s too soon!
He is gonna side with those kitten necromancer now! As he just posted there and got friendly replies!
Kudos to you for being a nice guy – though I have to disagree with him that the search feature is useless… true it sucks if you are looking for something off the first few pages but htat is obviously not the case for HGH related topics…
anyways, in the spirit of your kindheartedness I’ve decided to link the HGH build out of the goodness of my heart – however, I’m too lazy to make one of those tinyURLs so you have to copy and paste this link:

Another funny thing about the engi community. I don’t consider that the HGH build. I think it’s this one:

There is a middle ground that allows for both.
The problem wasn’t killing the destroyers as I take them down extremely fast, its the condition dmg they do compared to the amount of healing elixir H provides. And yes I know about using the trait so that your elixirs remove conditions, that isn’t the point I am trying to make. And even though Elixir H gives a random boon (which lets face it, doesn’t even compare to some of the other high healing skills the other classes get when using a healing skill). For example elementalists have basically the same ability (not as random as ours) that gives them a boon based on what attunement they are in but has a bigger heal potential behind it. I understand there are options around the condition but should a heal really barely move your health where it is almost worthless to use when you are very low on health and you hope to just survive the condition. I don’t use the condition removal trait as since I use FT as my main weapon I have the increased 15% FT/EG dmg since it improves the damage my FT does by a large margin. I’d just like to see a heal skill actually have some effect on my HP rather than slightly move it up compared to other classes that seem to at least 1 big burst healing skill.
I’m not saying 409 is your only option. It seems you just need to equip some condition removal of any kind.
[quote=1806756;covenn.7165:]
Trait 409, then when you use Elixir H (or any other elixir) you remove the condition and heal.
The problem is someone might not be able to play the way they want if they have to take cond removal.
Then play the way you want and learn to accept dying from confusion.
Or….learn to adjust your play to the conditions of the game.
I’m sorry, you thought I was serious. I need to remember to add /sarcasm to some of my posts.
Ha! The trend of the thread made me disregard the fact it might have been sarcasm.
I’d rather take a trait other than 409, but I know if I run into a Necro I’m in trouble, so I carry it.

really? It’s like 4 posts below yours. :-)

Bummer, the tool tip for Explosive Shot almost made me switch my build a bit :-)
Does Explosive Shot count as an explosion for the Shrapnel trait, or is that only bombs, Mines and Grenades?
Edit sorry meant Shrapnel.
(edited by Tyaen.5148)
Nope, I’m mostly a solo roamer.
oh.
Bit surprising, but not in a bad way.
Always nice to hear that people do well with a different approach. What build do you use mostly?
Is it more or less HGH condition?
Pretty much. I trade Mask’s boon duration for condition duration. I rely heavily on confusion, so with good opponents who have a lot of condition removal I can struggle a bit. Most players though don’t carry enough condition removal.
I experiment a lot though, and am always open to trying new things.
Nope, I’m mostly a solo roamer.
Between Potent and Fast Acting Elixirs plus Boon Duration, I can use Elixir B by itself and almost always keep swiftness up in combat. Maybe that’s why I don’t notice it.
When I use a dodge build (perma vigor/perma Swiftness) then I definitely use Speedy Kits.
(edited by Tyaen.5148)
You’re an engineer, when do you really need swiftness? Running between points in open field? Switch to Med kit, Elixir B and thrown Elixir B and you’ll almost never be on cool down. use the 10 points somewhere that actually matters. Going into combat, switch back to your normal setup.
Granted I run Elixir H, Elixir b, so I only have to switch back from Med Kit. You nailed the another way, boon duration.
Speedy kits is like crack, it’s an addictive drug. Ween off of it and use a more effective trait.
you seem to forget one thing:
your whole theory falls once you do NOT use elixir B (or med kit for that matter).
Elixir builds are the most recent addictive drug to be honest.
So much people start arguing as if there are no other builds anymore…Funny you do this in a topic that uses my post about elixirs becoming the standard as base for the questions.
Again, you’re an engineer, you can switch kits at will (unless in combat in which case why do you need swiftness?).
you don’t think swiftness in combat is important?
i think it’s very much needed for kiting several classes.
Only if I really really stick close to turrets, smacking a tool kit around, I think I might do without swiftness.
Not saying you absolutely need it. But I find it really odd you think we don’t need it in combat at all. How do you kite?
I don’t kite. (My experience is only applicable to WvW I seldom PvE)

I don’t think Elixir builds are the only viable build. I’ve run many different builds. Elixir is what I run most of the time because it fits my play style.

@Bailey – Boon Duration stacking.
2X Major =10%
2X Sup = 15%
2X Sup Monk = 15%
Total = 40%

If you use Elixir R tool belt before you go down, it will pulse you back up fast.
Perma swiftness is by traiting the 10 points in Tools and taking Speedy Kits. Everytime you switch to your med kit you’ll pop swiftness (5 second cool down).
IMO it’s a waste as there are better way to get ~perma swiftness without traiting it.

This is almost identical to my WvW set up. I use 2 Givers Pistols, and add Condition duration to 4 runes and boon duration to 2 runes. So I end up running 90% Condition Duration and 20% boon duration.
As to the build not working in T1 due to skill lag, I’d say that’s situational. The only time I have issues is in big 3 way fights with all three servers running massive zergs at the same time. In that case I swap out my Toolkit for FT and 111111111 until the skill lag lets up. People tend to complain about retaliation, but 409 alleviates that issue.
Even tactically in fights I work the same way as you. Knowing when to separate and reset is huge.
Edit: The other big difference between our build is probably Armor and jewelery set up. I run full P/T/V armor, Carrion Earrings, and a mix of Ascended.

You know you can hit that right?
I just don’t really see the point in posting the video in this thread i guess.
But, you sure see the point in taking time out of your day to comment on it.
Are you ready?
if you’re using ms paint, u can use the rectangle shape tool and fill solid colour to cover the chat area
I don’t like staying between the lines :-)
Score update for you before I do my morning coffee.
Brought to you by ……. well, me.
