Yea ele condition builds are hard to pull off. One of the condition build that worked for me was a perm-burn build. Balthazar runes(AE burn on heal), sigil of bursting(6%condition dmg)/doom(poison on attunement swap) but you have to spec 30fire/earth for it or 20fire 30earth. Specing for max condition duration (30fire) is nice but have to take into account players have condition removal so long duration condition will rarely do all of its damage.

Elementalist cannot stack bleeds as fast as other classes: scepter can apply 72sec of bleeds every 6sec (12stacks 6sec dur), mh dagger 76sec of bleeds every 6sec(9stacks 8-12s dur) and staff can apply 72sec of bleeds every 6sec (6stacks 12sec dur). Scepter has the shortest duration bleeds, Mh dagger has the best dps from bleeds and staff has the best AE bleeds.

Some players are more than willing to pay 200g to lvl another craft to 500 and 300g to get 6 pieces of ascended armor. Assuming the cost will be similiar to the weapons. Still I believe cloth prices will triple once ascended armor come out.

dont say that. Sure some servers have a humongous numerical advantage, but certain servers make up for their lack of numbers by being superior at inter-guild/commander coordination.
Many said that certain servers were sure to win their league beforehand, the speculations where many, still are. However, it is certain that even though some servers are “bigger” they are not better, i would like to say EU silver league was an example of that, however, that would be a lie….

However, what i find interesting is that blackgate pulled away from JQ. I always thought of blackgate as old-desolation. The runner up that holds it’s ground, but thats it… So well, my predictions were terribly off in case of NA Gold.

From my experience on my old server, we had the better guild we would win our map but lose the others. My old guild would normally wipe zerg bigger than ours and it came to a point where the enemy zergs would avoid open field fights. They just try to follow us and defend bases. We still would lose the match-up.

Bigger server do not mean all of their guilds/players are more skilled it just means their are more wvw guilds/players. JQ is an example of that they have some very good guilds but on average most of them are not that good. As far as NA gold league it was already know that the t1 server would stomp the t2 server. Yet no one knew which t1 server bought the most wvw guilds until after the league began. That happens to be BG atm.

Everyday when I plan on wvwing this happen to me at least once. Take a camp/tower/keep kill guards and lord stand in the capture point and get no reward. Hundreds of times this year I have reported but no response and I check forums no info on the issue.

Today this happen again but it was not a camp/tower it was the living story event…. How can that happen to the living story event too? Their is nothing to cap and all I have to do is run kegs to blow up the stalk. So anyone know why this is happening, how I can stop it from happening or does Anet plan on fixing this issue?

Well if you looked at the server rating before the leagues began, half of the leagues already knew who would win before it started. The leagues did not fail. It encourage people to wvw more but the imbalances between servers have frustrated many players. Leagues showed everyone(pvers) something that was already known since the brake up of the tier system. The higher tiers have more people and more coverage which lead to them winning the match-up.

I think Anet will do something about the wvw population, since the overflow map will be in the game a few weeks after the leagues end. Anet will not combine any server because they are lacking wvw population. Some server have a large pve population but no one wants to wvw on them.

Overall salvaging ecto is the fastest way, but salvaging greens is the cheapest way. Ecto avg 100luck per salvage and greens 20luck. Using ecto to max luck will cost you twice as much as using greens assuming you are buying greens for around 1s. The cost I calculated for maxing luck is around ~4000g with ecto(takes into account you sells the dust back) and ~2000g with greens. The main issue with buying greens if you will have pages of greens to salvage. Btw 226% magic find is the half way point needed to max magic find in terms of luck:
183% is 1/4 of max luck,
144% is 1/10 of max luck,
109% is 1/25 of max luck
72% is 1/100 of max luck

The juggernaut is the most expensive legendary now. Guess people are really messing with the silver doubloon market. To think I saved 2000-2500g by making my legendaries before the prices increased.

The value of skill point can be measured by t5-t6 conversions and the siege to sup siege conversion. The skill points are worth the profit gained by doing so which tends to be something like 5s. I would measure karma values by time vs karma example: one camp in wvw is something like 175karma for 3-5min per camp. You can flip 12-20camps per hour, 2100-3500karma per hour vs how much gold you can farm per hour. Badges of honor value is a bit harder you can gain 1 wvw lvl per hour and get 10 badges but you kill alot of people within that hour and get more badges. So 500 badge of honor = 10-50 hours vs how much gold you can farm in that time. Overall you can measure the value of karma/badges of honor with the time it takes to get it or the profit you make from using it.

WvW Merc Camp & Demolition Achievement woes

Demolition achievement is not to bad but merc camps is horrible. Only merc camps in wvw are in EB since Anet removed the krait and skritt/centaurs do not count. So have to way in queue for EB to get the merc camps achievement which is very annoying.

I think once A-net puts in the overflow maps they will make drastic changes to wvw. Something like less borderlands or reduce population caps for the silver and bronze leagues. Once the overflow maps happen they can do that. It will increase queues but with overflow maps wvw will not be as frustrated since they will be able to wvw instead of doing pve.

1. No if you have no one to defend a keep the enemy should be able to use its supplies
2. Player do what 1-2% of damage that a ram, sO you need alot of people to pvd. If the gate is upgraded chances are you have some siege inside to defend. Only takes +3 sup AC to wipe a 50 man zerg attempting to pvd.

4. That is why you need to communicate with your primary zerg or commander in wvw at the time. Golems can melt upgraded doors on a keep, but a call out in guild chat or to other wvw maps “Golems attacking garrisson”tends to make a instantly map zerg.
5. ALL maps have 3 exits to prevent spawn camping, but people still stupidly charge out the front entrance thinking they can kill the zerg in front. Can not do anything about stupidity.
6. I think that is more of a issue with stealth stacking to much. A mesmer thief group can perm stealth in a keep. Good for the server but no wxp for the mesmer and thief waiting half a hour for a zerg to come back to recap.

Chances are TC will tie for 3rd with either JQ or SoR and end up with 21 pts by the end of the season. Losing only to the t1 servers due to lack of SEA coverage and to few wvw focused guilds to compete with t1.

Server caps; why it can't be done

The main issue with wvw is that it is a 500v500v500 24/7 hour a day fight. Few servers can queue up maps during none primetime hours and few can queue up all maps on a none reset day. The amount of wvwers for server decreases during those SEA/oceanic times and you end up with 200v50v100 wvwers on all maps. It would be unfair to decrease the population caps or increase the queues on one server because another server has less wvwers. Then again it is underfair to the lower population servers if they play during a timezone that has few wvwer on. 4 wvw maps tends to be to much for some servers wvw population during a 24/7 fight.

Also server ranking were base on how well the server did against one another. The wvw guilds and player will always be in wvw. The Casual wvw join if their servers wvwer are able to competing or win the current match-up. The current ranking were not based on overall population but wvw activity.

Although you probably won’t earn as much experience it feels a lot more rewarding and contributes a lot more to the server than following the blob.

I agree with everything but that statement. Roaming/havoc squad gain more consistent wxp then zerging. Roaming gets you upto 1.5 wxp per hour depending on how many small fights you have in between camps. Zerging averages around 1 wxp per hour because you have to defend/siege upgraded keeps, some commanders look for fights, or you many not be the dominate zerg on a map. PvD give the most wxp per hour but that only happens if you have no competition(mostly thursday which is karma train day).

I wear valkyrie armor with pvt trinkets with S/x when roaming. I use precision based runes/sigil and food so I have around 50% crit 70%crit dmg, 2400 armor 17k hp before my wvw buffs. I run a high risk build when roaming 30-30-10-0-0 not the best for dualing but good for small scale fights and soloing camp before swords pop. I normally roam with my friend or 2 random wvers I find this build works well for that. If you want to drop people fully hp to dead you need signet of earth, so dragon tooth can actually hit people during the cast time. Never use a staff for small scale fights it makes you a free kill most of the time.

The standard gameplay is Zerg + Flip. Unfortunately giving the WXP rules flipping always benefits the bigger server, i.e. it’s pool of WXP increases faster with flipping. In time the older server will always trump the younger, as far as WvW goes.

Strictly speaking if you’re the smaller server – or the weaker – you should aim to gain your WXP via player kills and defend forts against zergs. That way there is a risk the zerg walks away with nothing and the smaller server picks up the player kill WXP. However as the game stands, this approach doesn’t get employed, perhaps because of the sheer boredom of it, I have tried I know how boring this is.

If you are a smaller server going for wxp you should aim for camps, dolyaks, and sentries. The majority of my ranks come from solo or small groups mostly on outmanned maps (because TC has no SEA coverage). I start off solo, ask in guild for people to join me and find people along the way to join my group. Most of the time I end up with ~3 people. When I get 4-5 people I start to take towers close to spawn or attempt to ninja bay or hills with catapults.

Overall doing small groups in wvw has always given me more wxp than zerging. The only way for zerg to give more wxp than roaming is if you pvd, which only happens if their is no competition. Their is no way to stop an opposing server from gaining wxp. The only thing you can do to increase the amount of wxp you can get by taking easy objectives and not go for those upgrade bases.

Gaining wxp from player kills is not productive if you are on a smaller server. Most of the small scale fight will end in a lopsided victory for the bigger server. Like this match-up TC is having with JQ, most of the roaming fight I have had with JQ end up with my group normally winning the 3v5 fights only to lose the because of the 3 more JQ come to help then out. Every time TC has gone up against JQ it is the same thing most of their roamers rely to much on numbers to win.

No much you can do with the t9 server in EU. The EU bronze league has the largest ranking gap because of the lack of wvwers in the tier 9 servers. Those server have a low population and a even smaller percentage of wvwers. I do not remember vabbi getting anything other than last place since I have been doing wvw. Even if you combine server it will be more about getting the pve to like wvw. That is hard to do when if vabbi is always outmanned.

Season 1 Reward Chest?

I hope that the season 1 reward first give out reward for being in the harder leagues, then give out rewards based on how well your server did in that league. I know that a bottom rank gold league server would win the silver league but lose every match in the gold league. Knowing how A-net has rewarded wvw so far, the end of league rewards will be underwhelming. Still hoping we get some unique rewards at the end of the season or unique good finishers for the higher wvw ranks.

As a staff ele, you will never want to ignore your defense. If you think you can always stay in the “back” you have it very wrong. If you’ve ran in wvw with zergs (small or big) before you know it’s important to hug your commander in order to benefit from the water fields he asks for that gets blasted on him (water fields also you should help provide as staff ele). Of course it’s a matter of knowing how to position yourself, and knowing where to be in any situation.

Staff has 1200 rng, while it is important to be close to your commander you do not have to always be stacked on him. Far enough away to avoid the hammer train and most AE field but close enough to stack for water fields. It is hard to use meteor shower when the commander is always moving. A backline staff build should orbit the commander which enables enough time to set-up for meteor showers. Your frontline should be inbetween you and the enemy in open field fights. Support staff builds stack on the command instead of orbiting them like a backline build. That was why support staff builds use the same specs as a frontline buld.

D/D is a frontline type weapon so you should spec tanky something like 0-0-30-30-10, 0-0-20-30-20, or 0-10-0-30-30. Any water/arcane/earth build will work for a D/D frontline. Support staff build were you are stay on the command will use the same builds are a frontline D/D. Back line staff should not be getting hit much so you should spec more for dps than defense something like 0-30-0-20-20 or 30-0-0-20-20.

Population unbalance and Defenders

A ton of people moved from lower tier to the top 3 and some servers began losing on purpose to lower their scores to be in top of Silver instead of bottom of Gold league.

More like the top 3 server heavily recruited from low tiers and strip other servers of their wvw guilds. FA and DB lost multiple guild to t1 servers that bought various guilds. SBI attempted to move upto gold league but got stomped down to silver league because of SoR.

During NA primetime it is rare to see solo roamers. Most of the time I roam solo during Oceanic/SEA times. Still solo roaming against any t1 server is worst. Their is 50% chance of fighting someone or a zerg at the nearby camps from spawn. Still JQ and SoR roamers/havoc squads tend to suck in comparison to BG roamer/havoc groups.

Curious how many people have BiS gear? Just going under the assumption that everyone has BiS gear and are hardcore wvwers is flawed. If you want balance go to Spvp. WvW is were you get to show off you gear. Still a organized group > pug group even if you are outnumbered by the pug group.

Matchmaking is fine. The servers with a large wvw population and coverage are higher ranked. The random match-up before leagues was interesting. It showed why some servers are higher ranked than others and allow servers to move up tiers easier.

Well I find it funny. That the T1 servers are complaining about queues. On TC all bl had ~30m queue during NA primetime and EB probably has a +1hr queue. During SEA/Oceanic we just have a floating zerg and EB is still queued. EB has been queued since reset. Still T1 has it worst. Remember this is reset weekend so everyone EVERYONE is doing the living story. The weekdays it will die down a bit once everyone goes back to school/work.

Getting to 300 luck with ecto cost around 4k gold(2k gold assuming you are just buying 1s greens). It is a large increase in the amount of rare loot you get to drop. If you are farming for t6 mats with that much magic find you will probably get triple the amount.

Yea I have not gotten credit for over 200 capture points because of this bug. I have reported it everytime hoping for some response but I guess this is a minor issue to A-net. Having a 5% chance of a base not giving you credit.

No sure why this happens but it has been happening once or twice every day this year. I take a base kill all guards/lord stand in the cap and do not get credit for it. I have submitted tickets on this issue everytime this has happen. Will this bug be fixed anytime soon? It has been very annoying.

The leagues haven’t even started yet. Don’t get discouraged. You won’t be fighting the stronger servers every week. You guys are probably on par with IoJ now and during NA prime you’ll probably be on par with CD.

Hum whenever their is a rating gap of 100 ranking point the match-up tends to be a blowout. The server rank 15 has a 200 rating gap between the 14th rank server. This mean every server in silver league will stomp on the 15th rank server.

They are long term projects that take around 500 game hours to make. Your suggestion would increase the amount of game hours it takes to make one since the wvw and dungeon suggestion would 10x the normal requirement. The new legendaries will probably use the same format: gift of mastery, gift of fortune, precursor(0.5% chance in the mystic forge with rares), gift of x.

Since ascended armor item codes are in game hopefully they will be used for them. It will save alot of time if they are. 120bloodshard brick, 25dragonite ingots, 35 emp shards so far. I just hope the bloodshard bricks are used for ascended runes/sigil or something that will enable us to use all of them.

Mess around in Spvp. In wvw you can get an advantage with gear, bloodlust and allies. Spvp everything is equal, so fight against some of your friends/guildies to get better with your class. Also, some builds that are good for solo camps suck for dueling.

Class balance philosophies
We normally try to employ metered and controlled balance changes with each pass, rather than huge reductions or improvements to classes. We want to get all classes on the same playing field, and we want to avoid “whack-a-mole” style balance. HUGH increases and HUGE decreases lead to meta instability, and thusly, we try to make multiple small tweaks rather than putting in massive changes that we have to later correct.
When designing and balancing the classes, we try to make sure that class roles and identities stay intact. So, in doing so, we make sure that there are rules and boundaries outlining the capabilities and weaknesses of each class.

Ele
We see the elementalist as the king of versatility. The skill ceiling for the Ele is exceptional, as the ability to leverage all four attunements at the right time is crucial for understanding the elemetnalist. The Ele boasts some of the best team support and control abilities in the game, as well as some great area of effect damage.

In wvw they need to buff the versatility aspect of elementalist. The common spec for most elemental revolve around water/arcane traits with cantrips. Few other builds give elementalist the survival needed for wvw.

After A-net balance adjusted the ranking point months ago NA tier 8 balanced itself out. I guess EU t9 have not ask guild from some of the top server to train or help them out? I know of multiple guilds on NA that have transfer so commanders or 10-20man guilds just to train some of the lowest rank servers here FC and ET. Now both of those server finally after a year of being in t8 moved up to t7.

Since leagues are coming out I doubt many guild will transfer to help train your server now. Just seems like t9 in EU is a black hole for wvw. No one willing wvw on those servers.

Well the EU silver league will be the most competitive league just because it has the smallest ranking gap between all servers in the league. If the servers are playing to win the league they will have to always try to keep the top server from coming in first. Since first places give 5 league pts. dMost of the servers have a good chance to win the EU silver league.

Toughness vs Vitality

Depends on your class. Warriors/necro have high vitality so extra toughness helps. Guardian/Elementalist have low vitality so extra vitality helps. It is best to use http://gw2buildcraft.com/ to determne your best effective health. That website does not take into account conditions being able to cut through armor.

I do not see why anyone would want to go for rank 15 in silver league. The rating gap from rank 14-15 is big enough that you will lose every match-up against rank 14 in silver league. Any of the servers high than that will be worst.

gaining wvw ranks is faster in balanced matches – when you are outnumbered …it’s hard to rank up because you can’t stay on the field long enough – when you outnumber someone else – it’s hard to get new points vs an empty server that doesn’t take their land back or hardly comes on the field. So I have to say it works great for me – I’ve gotten 5+ ranks in like 3 hours of game play – in balanced fights. – where we are constantly losing land and taking it back.

I gain the same amount of ranks per day in any match-up when I am outnumbered on a borderland doing camps. When against t1 server or Mag (on the weekend) it is a bit harder to solo but it is still possible. None of the servers have given me any issue when I do camps even when I am on a outnumbered borderland.

Against t1 servers it is difficult to solo because their is a HIGH chance of encounter enemies zergs/havoc squads at any camp. Maguuma dislike anyone on their borderland after reset, so they tend to camp the spawning points but if you get pass that, you can still take the northern camps. As long as people are retaking camps it is easy to rank up. Pick fights that you believe you can win or instantly kill an enemy to even up the numbers a bit, 2v4 to 2v3 in the first seconds.

That is why their are multiple dailies. I find the daily dungeon/fractals not possible for me since I mostly do wvw. Still get my daily done within 1-2hrs of play in wvw (tower, champ, gathering, land, kills, kill variety, camps, so on). Some days the daily is done within 30min of wvw. The only issue I see is that some are trying to complete all 10-12 dailies instead of 5.

Also, the amount of wxp you get per camp is 120 for guards/lord, 100 for 2 yaks, 200 for cap. It can be from 200-420wxp depending if you are in a big zerg or solo. It takes me 13-15mins to flip 3camps, kill 3 sentries, and the vet worg/harpy/worm with various encounters in between when solo.

Gaining 2 ranks in wvw doing camps takes under 90mins. If you are trying to follow a zerg it can take longer because you can fail at taking tower/keeps or get wiped but enemy zergs. In terms of wxp PvD(flipping entire maps without resistant)>havoc(flipping camps killing roamers, and vet harpy/worg/worm)>zerging(attacking/defending towers/keeps looking for enemy zerg).

Anytime their is a large rating gap (100pts or so) it will be a blowout. The rating gaps with the current league set-up and the biggest ranking gaps in those leagues:

NA Gold rank 1 vs rank 6 = 343;
157 rating gap from 3-4, 179 rating gap 4-5
NA Silver rank 7 vs rank 15 = 328;
120 rating gap 9-10, 150 rating gap from 14-15
NA Bronze rank 16 vs rank 24 = 207;
43 rating gap from 19-20

EU Gold rank 1 vs rank 9 = 264;
62 rating gap from 5-6
EU Silver rank 10 vs rank 18 = 204;
61 rating gap from 16-17
EU Bronze rank 19 vs rank 27 = 717;
95rating gap 21-22, 142 rating gap 22-24, 144 rating gap 25-26

So the most competitive leagues will be EU silver, NA bronze, and EU gold. NA gold will be won by a t1 server and 5-6 will lose every match. In NA silver a t4 server will win it and rank 15 will lose every match. In EU bronze the servers below rank 21 do not stand a chance.

Each world will be matched up with each other world in their league at least once over the course of the season. 1st place in each match-up will gain the world 5 points, 2nd place 3 points, and 3rd place 1 point. In the competitive leagues I expect servers to team up against the stronger one to win the league instead of playing for ppt and killing the moral of the weaker server.
