My chill damage in matches is very close to what Pimsley posted between 600-650/tick avg. It’s not bad but it’s also not DH material.
Berserkers play like watered down burn guards.
Please buff, seriously. If the dev team could only buff one last elite for the rest of their lives, please make it Berserker.
and maybe buff DH too as a bonus so I have a reason to come to forum and LMAO from the QQ threads
(edited by Vapour.7348)
Your ranked and unranked MMR are separate. If you plan to play ranked once it becomes available, I doubt any progress you made building up your MMR now will carry over.
I beat dh with herald. I beat herald with scrapper.
3 games in a row, 2 thieves in team. 3 losses. Pls do something. Ppl don’t swap
(edited by Vapour.7348)
Why do people confuse overpowered to ignorance countering. DH is glassy. Try a revenant dude. Even scrappers counter them. I main necromancer, btw.
I never cried about revenant, I never cried about tempest, I never cried about scrapper, I never cried about berserker and I never cried about druid. I think everything else is fine EXCEPT for Dragonhunter, as the only elite spec I find op. That says alot about me.
So what all this says about you is that you are crying about DH.
I guess that makes you a cry baby.
I tried out berserker a few games. Maybe I need to do more or I just faced baddies but I was ripping people up. I don’t see it as UP.
I am at loss for words….
without returning warriors and thieves back to their former glory
It’s gotten so bad that I was called a cheap DH when I ran staff mace/focus on clerics
Amidst all the nerfs, amulet and rune removals, no word or confirmation from anet about warrior buffs.
Anet buff warriors like you’re trying selling us HoT again.
There’s nothing elite about that Berserker spec.
What are you smoking? I want some of that stuff too
That stuff’s gonna make you cra cra. I suggest you avoid it.
And swap druid in exchange for it?
I mean come on – LB and traps in one build. Is that even possible w/ rangers? Well maybe with rampager ammy but you have to rely on pets to carry you coz you’ll die so fast.
Are rangers happy with druid as much as guardians are happy with DH?
I remember some time ago a guard threw a fit because he wanted druid stuff for guardians.
I believe you can’t use ranger….
How did you come up with that conclusion? It looks like he understood that traps were condition based and LB power/precision and using rampager amulet had no sustain.
But I must agree w/ Leeto that they kinda robbed each other
Berserker was the ONLY elite spec that wasn’t represented in last sundays go4gw.
•0 mesmer, 2 chrono
•0 necro, 4 reaper
•6 ele, 3.5 tempest
•0 engi, 8 scrapper
•0 ranger, 5 druid
•4 thief, 1 daredevil
•3 warrior, 0 berserk
•2.5 guard, 7.5 dragonhunter
•0 rev, 6.5 glint
4v5 entire match.
Ended up in a tie, 500 all, but my team won because of higher personal score total
despite being one man short.
Won a 3v5 ranked. Hardest thing I’ve ever done. Didn’t get a chance to do a screenie at the end coz I rushed to leave the arena from too much stress.
OP U SUX
I tried your formula when my pug team went against a full premade.
We got wiped BUT we were still leading plus we had 2 thieves.
All I said was “don’t give up” and someone from my team told me to
S
T
eFF
UpROOOOOOD.
I don’t deserve to be told that when I tried to encourage my team like you said. RQing never felt so good tho.
Well the point OP made was not ‘If YOU communicate in chat you will win’ it was ‘If YOUR TEAM communicates you will win’.
….
To OP it is a good and helpfull post. I have sadly stopped trying to start Team-chat communications as people rarely answers me, maby becouse in EU servers not everyone speaks english.
I know what you mean. I’m hoping people realize that if they hate going against premades, they need to talk to their teammates more to improve chances of winning. If it became normal for people that solo Q to communicate, premades would not have as big of an advantage anymore.
my trick is just to be a better premade
doesn’t always work tho ;:-/
Haha. Well the tricky part with solo is that sometimes you get good teammates and other times you get terribads that either die in 2 sec or play ranked like hotjoin and careless about capping.
A recent match our team was split 2 ways, me defending home in a 1v2 and teammates at far doing 4v2 and one of the enemies sitting at their capped mid being bored to death. I kept swearing non stop inside my head.
+1
I support this How-To guide. Thanks for sharing, I do hope people find it useful and apply your tips
Thanks guys for some of the kind words. Always a pleasure having you in my team Pimsley although I cringe when we go against each other and they place you with really bad teammates.
Yeti, lmao, sorry you had a toxic deebag in your team. You’re right, what IT said was rude and unproductive.
This thread can be exploited to encourage A-net as if they had done well when they removed solo queue.
No they did a TERRIBLE thing when they removed SoloQ.
There hasn’t been word from them that they’ll ever bring it back so I’m trying to help out with doing our best with what we have.
This is what I said about the time they removed SoloQ
I still don’t like that solo queue people go against full premades but I have a formula that could be effective if everyone participates.
1. let the team know you are vs a premade
2. tell them not all premades are unbeatable. (top tier tourney premades are tho lol)
3. try to keep them talking/communicating – theres only so much you can do to make them talk
But talkative teams tend to do far better than silent ones. If someone initiates, respond immediately with something as simple as ty or k and acknowledge that they are being listened to.
If no one talks and you initiate but get no response – chances are your team will lose if going against a premade.
I’ve beaten many full pre solo queueing if the team talks. Here’s a recent teamchat and score screenies
Edit: Engie is not my main but it’s my favorite class.
(edited by Vapour.7348)
I don’t play the class, but I don’t need to play the class to know that their damage, burning and might stacking were never the problem. The problem has always been their sustain, enough to sometimes even hold a 1 v 2 depending on the classes involved. By all means, they can blow me up, thats fine, just let me return that damage in kind.
Not according to the linked threads circa post June 23-Sept29.
The biggest issue against d/d eles were burning and damage – which were overtuned after June patch. Their sustain was actually reduced by a little.
Now that might and condi damage were nerfed, people have moved on to complain about sustain even though it wasn’t an issue before nerf.
I’m not really sure what the goal of this thread is even about
OP was illustrating how inconsistent most forum people are and how they migrate from one complaint to another. Then he pointed out and linked to threads people denied saying. Waste of time if you ask me but I get what he’s doing
in the current state of the game engi currently sucks
but scrapper does seem like it ll shine some light to the engi class
I think scrapper is the best elite spec, better than reaper – and I’m a necro main.
This OP is wicked +1
I agree with OP. What he is said is true about forum QQ threads about ele burning. That’s why it was nerfed. Ele heals and vitality was slightly reduced by June 23 update.
Now I understand why others want peoples rank or whatever credible data they have publicly listed when posting comments. So much fail here from people with flawed opinions and incorrect beliefs.
I was gonna pre order FO4 but used my money on HoT instead. Hope I made the right decision
I pretty much did the opposite. I have been unhappy with how the balancing has been handled for the past 8 months or so (Gee not withstanding), so I dusted off my Xbox and I look forward to playing it again. If the new specs really are upgrades, like Reaper and Scrapper seem to be, it’ll pretty much look like pay-to-win and I’ll mostly be done with the game.
I’ve already taken multiple leaves of absense, like the Turret Engie Era and the recent Ele-Vamp domination, if it keeps happening I would consider myself stupid to stay.
You should stay. It’s fun beating people, something you can’t get from FO4.
Scrapper is the only elite I care about.
Ele, guard, warrior, ranger and yes even necro are more powerful than their HoT elite spec. Haven’t picked up on revenant and prefer chronomancer over it so far.
Vapour didn’t purchase FO4 coz he prolly gets one shotted by deathclaws. He put all his points on Speech, lmao.
We all know speech is op. Pls nerf speech.
Engie used to be super fun back in the turret
Yes, winning 1v1s while afk was fun.
Just figured most current d/d ele players are previous turret engi and will next all become revenant. lmao
Time goes by, facerollers remain and adapt
SUCH FAIL… picking my comment to make it appear I only played turret.
To make your day, yes I loved parking my turrets at home or mid and then AFK to watch Friends on telly. I’m sure I or my fellow turreteers have effortlessly downed you while we were in the bathroom
Engie used to be super fun back in the turret, bomb heals and cele rifle days (the condi from nades and IP were amazing). I never managed to like it post June 23 but can’t wait for scrapper coz OMG it’s time again, to lay down the law.
I was gonna pre order FO4 but used my money on HoT instead. Hope I made the right decision
Post here, hopefully this one gets attention. It’s also a non toxic thread
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/pvp/How-s-it-possible-that-matchmaking-got-worse
Complain about burn guardian proves only you are bad player. Against burn guardian there are 2 things you have to watch, don’t attack when they are blocking and dodge their torch 4 attacks.
If this 2 actions overwhelms you should not PVP in GW2.
Turret engi was annoying because of the knock backs and tons of condi which you can dodge all or cleanse all, none of the classes builds you mentioned can do such things so often.
From my understanding, he was illustrating how he cleansed some of their condi bursts but not so much the direct damage. The amount of cleansing he did kinda confirms that. He wasn’t complaining about burn guards.
I know for a fact that you are WRONG about the class builds he mentioned not countering turreteers. I’ve personally melted the engie and their turrets with a staff ele and condi trap ranger.
Maybe you’re the one who shouldn’t pvp. You cant even comprehend what others are saying.
When Turret Engi was Turret Engi, you could not kill its turrets like a breeze, like it is now that was the problem.
And the thing he is trolling, his advertising like playing burn guardian can give left and right free kills. Yes, you can kill bad players but to kill competent people with burn guardian you have to be really good.
Burn guardian is soooooo squishy.
#NothingLikeExperience.
Although I play in NA, I’m from Europe and English isn’t my primary language but abc was actually defending burn builds. How was he trolling?
Perhaps you need more experience?
For condition builds, I’ve had more success playing Mesmer and ranger than I do with burn guard. It sounds like some have been effective with burns. I’ve been in many matches where the high burn stacks just couldn’t stick (cleansed right away)
And that goes both ways, they clear my burns as I do theirs.
I am far more effective applying multiple attrition type condis with my ranger and torment/confusion on Mesmer.
2 recent solo q matches against premades. Rabid ammy, krait rune, aoe condi removal and heals. Burning isn’t my primary condition. I’m not defending burns, I just don’t think it’s that great against more organized teams – which sadly I get to face plenty of despite solo queuing ranked matches.
Same. If I really wanted to play a condition build and apply reliable damage, I’d rather go with a Mesmer or ranger because they are less of a one trick pony and they are also the 2 best classes for 1v1
Condition damage isn’t enough. You need to apply direct damage too if you want to be an effective burn guard. Shout AH guard is the preferred build for guardians in teams. But if you’re just solo queueing, burn build is ok. I main necro and engie. Burn guard is not my build of choice in more competitive environments.
LOL Don’t tell abc to kitten off.
He is important to keeping L2P threads in check. If not, devs might believe the nonsensical, nonissue complaints that will make the game more boring and less fun to play. And your incompetency with cleansing will rob burn builds their style of play while the truth of it all is that they aren’t that hard to counter in the first place
I gave up on burning op pls nerf threads.
Went as far as post results from end of solo q ranked match to illustrate than burn damage is easy to contain. But when people have decided that what they believe is the reality – logic, reason, qualitative and quantitative metrics will be ignored.

lol read my post before you dis me man. I’m on your side. I messed up on my quote. My reply was aim at the guy who think bad losing steak mean bad player skill.
You could just be bad (not saying you are). Or you could be focused squarely on the win and not how well you played personally. So many break it down to wins and loses but I have won and felt like I put in a kitten poor effort. I have lost and felt good because I was winning my match ups. Perception is key here. I could get a great or bad team based on the stats. I rather be a great player myself win or lose.
Oh you mean this guy Mogar? Yeah he just kept yapping on and on about nonsense.
See, if I know a player is good and someone says they are bad, I try to defend them because people on the forum have bad opinions or little knowledge about things. So if someone says you’re a bad Mesmer, I will correct them
It goes like this…you lose 3 in a row and decide to queue again to make up but then Murphy’s Law happens and you end up losing 7-8.
Quite comical actually but still annoying

That player is anything but bad I assure you. He swaps classes at the beginning of matches to help balance out comps and rotates points like a madman. I know because he was active during test ladder seasons and I’d get teamed with or against him. If he was placed with a team of imbeciles, there isn’t much he or anyone else in his position could do.
If there were no match making at all and someone losses 10 in a row then yes he/she must be bad player. The WHOLE pt of match making is to match you vs similar skilled players no matter how good or bad you are. So even if you are in the last 5% of players in terms of skill you should still never lose over and over because competent match making would have matched you with other players who are just as bad and give you around 50% win rate.
You failed at understanding how matchmaking really works as it was explained by the devs. Unfortunately your false perception of how matchmaking functions doesn’t apply.
I read first and try to understand the situation before posting hastily.
I looked thru that person’s attached images and when matchmaking worked during BW3, he had an almost 70%win rate and the matches looked fair because the team scores were close.
When that person linked the image during the bad streak of losses, the team scores looked like an absolute failed mismatch, like he was placed with a team full of F2P people going after dailies…which in my opinion, isn’t fair.
His bad streak of losses ALSO happened around the same time as it did some of posters on this thread.

I was agreeing with you but I failed to express that coz I’m not a charming person.
Hey guys Mogar is a sweet solo Q Mesmer, it’s true. There, I hope I made things up.
They are the best pvp build.
lelwut?
that statement should officially void this thread. teammates 100% of the time want me on AH instead of burn.
But if that burn guard played a dps guard and you are out of dodges or blocks, it’s the same thing…you have damage coming your way and you have little defense for it.
People just have a prejudice against bursty condis.

Sometimes I wonder if the people complaining about burn guards play the same game as me. I die mostly from going against organized premades that +1 me on a point I’m defending or capping. Another reason I die is when my team’s comp is hard countered because the people in my solo q team are only after dailies and don’t care to swap.
But dying from burn damage specifically from a burn guard? Nope, never an issue.
Please stop comparing burn guards to elementalists. That just exposes the lack of understanding you have about this game.
reaper shines when opponents have >50% hp.
now if that 4v1 is common (or believable) every thread on this forum will about nerfing it.

Just play Burn Guard
No thanks. I don’t like playing builds that lack versatility and only apply ONE condition that’s easy to get rid of. Like someone mentioned, maybe burning is a low tier problem. I don’t seem to have any issues with it.
When I ask teammates if they prefer I play burn or AH guard, almost 100% of the time they say AH guard.
Hello!
Where do people sign up for this?
Reaper – same issue as mesmer, necro is already overpowered Reaper just gives them another flavor of overpowered.
as a 3y Vet of necro Iv never laughed so hard in my life as when I read this…. “necro already OP” are u for real ? There is 1 Necro I say it again 1 Necro in any type of Tourney setups, its for last 2y considered a “free kill” in the PvP community and u say its OP ?
Reaper sustain is REALLY BAD in Zerk,Maurauder but excells when u slot up Toughness and Vitality yes but its when Blighters Boon starts to kick in it gets its sustain and how does it do that ? By actually fighting Next to a class that gives ALOT of BOONS. On 1v1 if u cant take a Reaper with Scrapper,Mesmer,Ele,Warrior or Thief u need to l2p big time. Its only a direct base upgrade to Core Necro with a twist, the twist is that the Reaper is a class u dont wanna tango with upclose and if ppl focus the Boon support class first then the Reaper will feel like paper.
