I hope not. Otherwise what was the point of the living story, if nothing was affected? No one we knew died, the town that got attacked was just rebuilt, there was no consequence for a years worth of story if at the end of it all that great big reset button gets pressed and everything goes back to how it was.

I hope they leave Lion’s Arch ruined and rename it the ruins of lion’s arch instead.

You could see it that way, but personally, I can’t see Lion’s Arch not being rebuilt. I doubt it’ll be over night, in fact, it could take months of minor Living Story side content. Also, yes, some people from Lion’s Arch died. I believe an Asuran child known as, ‘Prune Face,’ is one of the casualties. She was just a generic, ‘Prodigy,’ NPC, but one of her dialogues with another child resulted in her being called, ‘Prune Face,’ which is why players remember her as that.

Without a doubt, but it may be a while before it looks pretty again. I made a post in another thread about my hopes for Lion’s Arch though.

[Edit]: Here’s the post in question.

I’d like for Lion’s Arch to return better than it was before, perhaps as a result of the Captain’s Council disbanding and reforming as a Senate to rule Lion’s Arch, and the Council itself being replaced by one comprised of the leaders of the major nations of Tyria. With influence in the city greater than before, the five nations send supplies, workers, and so forth to rebuild Lion’s Arch better than before.

You see human influence in the construction of its buildings and stonework. You see Sylvari influence in the growth of trees and a small park acting as a, ‘Sylvari District,’ all of which cleanse away the lingering effects of the Miasma. Charr influence comes in its fortress, with new siege weapons, acting as the Black Citadel Embassy. Asura influence comes in with the Asura Gate hub, of course, with a research district housing a representative of the Arcane Council, devoted to studying Scarlet’s work and whatever else they find. Lastly, Norn Influence comes in the form of monuments and a district that functions for social gatherings, parties, games, and activities.

Make Lion’s Arch everyone’s city, a melting pot, but one that looks better than shipwrecked, rotting wood and ancient crumbling stone. Also, for the love of all that is holy, do NOT put the Trading Post and Bank further apart than what we have in Divinity’s Reach. Keep the crafting stations and Mystic Forge really close there as well. Ideally you’d have a circle of 10 buildings around the Mystic Forge, 8 of them for crafts, 1 for the bank, 1 for the trading post.

Season 1 | Lack of Major Male Characters!

Agreed. I didn’t notice too much of an “imbalance” between genders up until the living story, the only male we have in the main group is Braham. There is nothing “wrong” with this, but it seems unlikely that all the men in Tyria lack spines, talent, and good will.

Not only this, but it often feels like the Males are being type casted in a way. -Most- major male lore characters are either Warriors or Guardians it feels like.

Logan – Guardian
Braham – Guardian
Rytlock – Warrior
Faren – Warrior

Its kind of like the writers are telling us the male characters are only good enough to be meat shields, that they’re not smart enough to be an Engineer or an Elementalist or a Mesmer. Especially mesmer to be honest. We’ve got 3 human female Mesmers now who are very prominent in the story (Jennah, Anise, and Kasmeer).

But BLTC ARE GEM STORE SAMPLERS!!! They aren’t in game treasure chests. It’s a crate that fell off one of Evon’s transport wagons. They cost at most 125 GEMS!! The gem exchange cost is immaterial. Do you get 125 gems worth of gem store items out of it on average? That’s the question. Not just items you would buy and use but total gem worth of those items?

That fact that they’ve felt forced to tossed tickets and scraps in the chests indicate that to the bulk of players, we don’t care about boosters or bank/merchant/mf in a can. They are trying to sell us a grab bag of items we mostly don’t give a kitten about. Sure one bag has keys to a new car but that’s so rare it’s pointless to expect to get one much less multiples in the few bags we do get.

Can’t disagree with this. Just sell us the keys to the new car. I’d be willing to pay 2000 Gems for a Permanent Hair Style Change thing. I’d be willing to pay 125 Gems for one Black Lion Ticket, or 400 Gems for 5 of them. I’m not willing to pay for a -chance- at these things. I don’t like gambling. Some people do. Leave the stuff in the Chests for them to gamble at to their hearts content, but make the stuff available to the rest of us.

Seriously, A.net. Not joking here. Let me buy the weapon claim tickets, and I will. Keep them in chests, and you get nothing out of me. You’re losing out here.

Probably because it’d spawn thousands of other threads asking for a new expansion.

How about an underwater race with reversed water/land weapons? (I.e. lots of underwater weapons, but only two land weapons.)

People seem to like Largos, but they seem too one-dimensional to me. A Largos joining the Priory? Don’t see it.

Tengu seem a likely candidate, but I’m not too sure about how they’d use existing armor sets.

I’m surprised nobody suggests a variant human (Canthan, etc.), possibly with a new profession. The advantage would be obvious – all existing human armor already works.

I’d rather they’d just add additional Canthan and Elonan facial and hair options to the humans than to make a second playable human option in the race selection screen. Heck, even without Cantha and Elona being open I’d like to see that.

I suspect Tengu would probably have similar armor design to Charr… they seem to have a similar skeleton, so adding armor for them probably wouldn’t be -too- difficult. Mostly just a change to helmets, I would suspect.

Largos would be an interesting race, but before they’re added, I’d want to see a revamp to underwater combat, a way to make it… better. Underwater controls in just about any game that isn’t Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask tend to be an obstacle, and its the same way in GW2. There are only a handful of classes who can do well in underwater combat in my opinion, Thief being the best of them.

Additional underwater weapons would be very useful, so at least every class has -1- weapon (or attunement for Elementalists) that gives them a strong ability to survive and thrive in underwater combat. Maybe add some new equipment like Diving Tanks and Flippers to help with movement in the water. It needs to be faster.

I dislike how in many games, and movies the non-human races often look just like humans with subtle changes, for example races in Star Trek.

A little off topic, but there’s an in-universe explanation for that. There was a parent race which was alone in the Galaxy (no other species looked like them) so they seeded the primordial seas of countless worlds across the Galaxy, which is why so many races in the Galaxy bear a resemblance to humans.

Back on topic, I think it’d be easier for the developers to add races that have a similar build to humans. Certainly in terms of gear, its much simpler. They just have to stretch the textures on Norn, but Humans and Sylvari have pretty much the same stuff. Charr and Asura need something more custom in terms of gear design.

Also, to be honest, I’d probably play a Charr if we had the Upright option that we saw from Charr in the first game. I’ve never been a fan of the, ‘Hunchback of Notre Dame,’ type races in MMOs. It’s what kept me from playing Horde races in World of Warcraft until Blood Elves were added.

Do you remember that one time when a dev said that they want all level 80s to be on equal footing, whether they’ve been at that point for over a year or simply five minutes?

Or how about when they said they don’t believe in a gear treadmill, or how they don’t make “grindy” games?

I’ll tell you one thing, son. Even if I don’t remember…

Something else to keep in mind about World of Warcraft is that it came onto the Market at a time when people were looking for something new that was different from Everquest and easier than the unforgiving FFXI. It also had the benefit of being a sequel to the very popular Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, games.

It was the right game, at the right time, and what’s more, everyone and their friend played it. That created a sense of community in that game. No one would be afraid of playing alone because their friends all played. No one would be afraid of an empty world, because a lot of people played. I think that has to be one of the major contributing factors to its continued prominence on the market. People feel secure in that kind of a community. No one is going to want to leave, because their friends won’t join them, because they have friends who still play, and why take a risk on a new game that might not even have a lot of people in it, so little chance to make new friends?

I was able to convince a lot of my WoW friends to get GW2 since it was subscription free, but unfortunately Anet dropped the ball when they removed the Holy Trinity and essentially turned the game into a massive zergfest at every turn. My friends ended up going back to WoW. I refuse to give Blizzard anymore of my money, so I’m sticking with GW2, but for the most part, I play alone or with a small handful of individuals, usually one at a time, here on GW2. If GW2 wasn’t free to play, I honestly wouldn’t play it.

I don’t really agree with the idea of “keeping score” and clumping all games together as a whole. Saying things like “Well, all these other games have male-heavy casts so this one having a female-heavy cast is good” seems a bit silly and petty, really. I should think games should strive for a balance on an individual basis, rather than pointing at other games and saying “Well we’re just making up for them”.

It’s not a matter of keeping score as much as simply letting there be a female-dominant game once in awhile because they should be allowed to exist. We have plenty of male protagonist based games and stories out there, so having a female heavy one shouldn’t be an issue or require some special balance by affirmative action in order to cancel out female prominence. Not allowing a female dominant game to exist at all because we need to meet a quota of strong males seems at least as petty.

I think the problem people have is not that the game is female dominant. As I posted in another thread, GW2 -should- be female dominant. The setting is very empowering for women.

The problem people have is that there isn’t really a single male character who is as developed as the female characters. Personally, I am -all- for equality between the genders. However, I said -equality-, not reversal.

So, Lion's arch post-Scarlet. . .

I am going to pick different things out of some of the responses..

Keep LA destroyed, they should dam up the lake since there is a big hole and excavate and find relics from the old LA, use the big hole as a dungeon that goes down than branches off in different directions (upside down Christmas tree), be able to explore the breechmaker.

If we’re getting a dungeon in LA, I would like it to be that cavern we went into back in GW1 on the way to the Shiverpeaks and the Eye of the North content =)

But that’s hoping for a bit much I suppose. I already said what I’d like to see in an ideal situation. I want Lion’s Arch to be a great city, better than it was. One last way to just -shove- it in Scarlet’s face. She tried to destroy the city, but because of her, it’ll be better than it was before.

There are so many games where there are always way more men than women as main characters. I like that for once there are more women. If they add more characters, they should have a reason to be there, not just because people are not used to seeing less men running around.

To be fair, in a lot of games where there are more men than women, the women still come across as strong, well defined, and are generally fan favorites. Look at World of Warcraft. The cast of characters has got to be 90% male but the favorite characters who everyone likes most are:

Tyrande Whisperwind
Jaina Proudmoore
Sylvanas Windrunner
Joanna Blueheart
Sky Admiral Cathrine Rogers

Meanwhile the male characters are often hated and despised almost universally by the fanbase. Characters like Garrosh, Thrall, and Varian are hated by so many people for so many different reasons its laughable. Then the remaining cast of male Lore Figure characters are generally forgotten, underused, and rarely developed.

So, I’ll agree with others. It isn’t necessarily the -number- of male and female characters which is important, but their characterization, their development, and so forth. As it is, these days games generally include prominent and strong female characters in them. ESO coming up has an entire faction led by a Queen. The Cyrodiil Empire was founded by a woman, and her bloodline is the legitimate one blessed by a higher power.

The Industry has gotten a lot better on introducing more female characters, and well developed ones at that. Once upon a time, Video Games were a boy’s passtime. A girl who played video games was a minority. Then the gaming industry woke up and started making games for girls, and aside from some sexist games at the beginning, they’ve come to realize boys and girls generally -like- the same kinds of games and stories. Its taken time, but the Industry has improved, and you can easily see that if you look away from the Quantity of characters and at the Quality.

I would dare say there is not a -single- badly developed female character in Guild Wars 2. They’re all interesting, unique, and strong individuals in their own ways. I really like Taimi and want to see more of her. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t mind seeing a male character who is more than just eye candy for the ladies or a sub-note in their story.

Anyone else dislike Marjory and Kasmeer?

in Living World

Posted by: Vexander.9850

Vexander.9850

At first I didn’t like them. Marjory’s introduction was a little too gritty and cliche for my tastes, which set me against the character as a bit of a joke. I honestly didn’t think she’d be as much a part of the Living Story as she turned out to be. Over time though, I took more of an interest in her when she was developed and that introduction became nothing more than a bad first impression for me.

I felt the same about Kasmeer who just seemed to show up at the Toxic Tower without much explanation and came off as a Blonde Dim-Witted Bimbo there for eye candy. Boy did she ever prove that wasn’t true. She demonstrated a lot of weaknesses, but the strength to move past them. I’m still not entirely sold on her being smart enough to -be- a Mesmer, but she’s a solid character in her own right.

I do like Rox and Braham a bit more than those two, but they were introduced earlier and in a way that didn’t leave me with a bad first impression. Learning Braham was Eir’s son was a surprise and made me very interested in him, and Rox came off as this strong, capable Charr, an excellent example of female charr in general.

When can we expect a payoff?

in Living World

Posted by: Vexander.9850

Vexander.9850

I would like to bring up one thing that could make this reveal more satisfying. If we look at the events prior to the game, dragons waking up actually have all had huge effects on the world.

Zhitan’s awakening raised Orr to the surface, Primordus scattered the underground races, Kralkatorrik made the Crystal Scar, Jormag made the Norn flee their homeland and killed about 4 spirits of the wild, and the deep Sea Dragon made the Krait and Quaggan flee their home.

I’m really hoping Mordremoth’s awakening causes a massive cataclysmic event, but I still don’t feel that what we got was any form of payoff to a year’s worth of story and buildup.

Perhaps Mordremoth’s awakening will transform the wastes of Magus Falls into a forest.

  • Of the 6 human Gods, 4 are Female
  • Playable Charr oppose a Legion which view females as nothing but Baby Machines
  • The Sons of Svanir are an all-male Villain cast (I honestly think we need to see the Daughters of Jora)
  • Sylvari do not have Gender Roles, though the Pale Tree takes the form of a female

1. To be fair “Gods” is an overstatement in most cases, more like very powerful otherworldly beings who achieved a high level of power but can still be killed or replaced. As for the gender balance of the “super beings” yeah i noticed, I think the people at arena net are just generally biased in the favor of writing female characters.

Reminds me of a certain group of writers i use to know when i was part of a pc game project, they all wrote female characters, while me and one other on the team (the other being a girl) were the only ones to write in male protagonists.

2. I have no bloody idea what you mean here, lol.

3. I forgot about the sons, good point! I don’t think there is a kitten among them though, like one guy who really stands out as a on-going threat.

4. That is another key thing i noticed, why not father tree? But than again… I don’t like the sylvari.

1. I don’t really have anything to comment on here. I suppose I could add the head of the Pantheon of the Six is Dwayna, a Goddess, as another point in favor of empowering female characters though.

2. The Flame Legion has a very dismal view on female charr, which is essentially that they should stay in the kitchen unless they’re having a baby, which they should be having frequently to keep the numbers of the Charr strong.

3. Yeah there isn’t really a singular strong Son of Svanir at this time. Could always change I suppose.

4. Well, I can see why they went with, ‘Mother,’ Tree since she gives birth to the Sylvari race, unless the Sylvari are to be comparable to Sea Horses. It makes them more relatable to the rest of Tyria.

the choice of character gender matters?

It matters, you can only relate so far when the cast is so unbalanced. That goes both ways mind you, i ain’t biased here.

Maybe I can relate fine because my home is pretty much full of female relatives, no male relatives, and legitimately half of my friends are female. The group I hang out with most are 2 males, 2 females, and I’m one of the males. However, I can see your point for certain. Just because the setting provides a lot of empowerment and background opportunities for female characters doesn’t mean it doesn’t do the same for male characters.

As long as -all- characters we get are well developed and fit into the story, I’ll be happy.

What’s your basis for that?

I think you need to Google or Wiki the term Prince consort.

Logan is not a King in his own right or a Lord or even a noble.

Where is your basis for him not being a Noble? We know he comes from a long line of high-ranking people in society, for example. Look at Gwen Thackeray. I still don’t see how a marriage to Jennah wouldn’t elevate him to being, ‘King.’

Logan not being noble comes from the second book, the one that introduced him as a character. I believe this is also the main reason Logan and Jennahs relationship is so secretive. As it would not do Jennah any good to antagonize her nobility and ministers anymore than she all ready has.

He would not be king, as king is traditionally (real world, not necessarily Tyria, but do far there has been nothing to suggest otherwise.) the higher rank. When you have a Queen as ruler, she can not have anyone with a rank higher then her, even her husband, hence the rank and title of prince consort. This is why the current Queen of England (and many other countries) husband is not a King.

Hrmn… Fair enough I suppose. I imagined King Logan would be more of a Figurehead while actual power remains with Jennah due to her Bloodline. Logan fulfills a role as a, ‘Warrior King,’ who protects the lands and people through action, while Jennah fulfills her role as the Ruling Monarch by serving the people through politics.

Having a larger female presence in Tyria is natural in my opinion. Just take a look at the history and setting.

As for the Asura, I don’t think gender is important to them so much as intelligence and accomplishment is. In short, all these societies either have something which -empowers- women (Humans, Norn, and Charr), makes gender inconsequential (Sylvari), or promotes excellence despite gender (Asura).

So, a strong female cast makes sense and is true to the story and the setting. I expect to see more of them (Please bring in the Daughters of Jora already, I want to see Blood Wash Blood). Although, yes, I would like to see a few strong male characters. That, or allow the existing male characters to grow into being stronger, overcoming their weaknesses. I’m eagerly awaiting the day Logan and Jennah get married and can act more like themselves.

Kind of silly that you want a class’ entire aesthetic style to be changed just because your husband doesn’t want to be “girly.” Plus, it’d take a lot of work to make the effects differ by gender, and it doesn’t seem like it’d be worth it.

I have 2 solutions you could consider instead:
1. Tell your husband to get over his fear of anything feminine. Femininity isn’t a bad thing. Feminine males are also something that exists, and it’d be unfair to them to change it just for you.
2. Tell him to play a different class. Literally any other class.

There you go, problem solved.

Fair advice, but do you know what attracts people to video games and spending their money?

Options.

If there were options for class-specific animations or alterations to animations, I’m sure A.net would make a lot of money off of it. How about different colors of fire for Elementalists? Make all their Rock/Stone/Earth moves into Crystals (I’d buy that)? How about cultural-influenced banners for Warriors, so you can plant down human/charr/asuran, etc… looking flags?

Players -love- options and best of all, aesthetic stuff like this is what the Gem Store was -made- for. Personally I’m fine with the butterflies on my Mesmer, but I might change it to something like, say, foxes, if it was an option. Not that I suspect it would be. If I had a Norn Mesmer? I’d definitely go with Ravens, no question.

If you truly believe feminism, homosexuality, racism, etc are issues to argue over than be respectful towards both your audience and opposition regardless of how they react. One will get more support from speaking in a polite and rational tone then devolving into petty insults.

Ultimately this thread can be boiled down to people trying to be moderate and inclusive of homophobes and homophobes demanding the removal of homosexual inclusion in videogames.

At the end of the day, I agree, if sexuality of any sort becomes this much of an issue in the gaming community, it’s probably not worth including it. We’re all here to have -fun-. As player’s we’re supposed to be fighting for a fictional cause, not one from reality.

The White Mantle Return: A THEORY *SPOILERS*

I’d be surprised if the White Mantle was brought up anytime soon to be honest. Arena.net has made it clear they’re hesitant to embrace Human Stories because the original game was all human story. The Living World is a good example of this, as we see a lot of the other races and their stories and villains getting screentime. The only human story element touched on was the Queen’s Jubilee which was ultimately a passing thing that didn’t have much impact on the story itself. Kasmeer and Marjory are major characters who are humans, but being human doesn’t actually add to the story for them.

I mean, you could substitute them for two of any other race and the story would progress the same way. Considering the next Living Story Season seems poised to delve into Mordremoth, we’ll likely see more of the Sylvari and the Asura, as they’ll be in direct danger from it.

it means Kryta then has a King, and a potential heir to the throne can be born.

Sure, we could get little baby Princes and Princesses but Logan would not become King. I say he would likely become the Prince consort, Prince Thackeray.

What’s your basis for that? I can’t say I know the lore of Tyria 100%, but I’m pretty sure the man who marries the Queen gains the title of, ‘King,’ even if the actual political power remains with the Queen. Considering Logan leads the Seraph, I honestly can’t see his position as King being anything more than a symbol for the people unless Jennah dies and he has to rule.

If its Logan’s behavior and characterization and such, we need to keep in mind that Jennah and Logan are public figures, and they would have to play their relationship very low key most of the time, and embrace it only in private. You can imagine how the Ministry would see the leader of the Seraph becoming King a major threat to their own power. I wouldn’t be surprised if Caudecus attempted a Coup during the wedding.

One will get more support from speaking in a polite and rational tone then devolving into petty insults.

The internet is not the best medium for conveying something such as tone, sarcasm, etc… All we have are our words, and they can be read in any tone the other person wants. I tend to type out my own words, speaking them in my head with a dispassionate kind of voice, because I sincerely don’t think wasting energy getting upset or hyped is worth the effort on something like this.

It’s a game.

At the end of the day, I agree, if sexuality of any sort becomes this much of an issue in the gaming community, it’s probably not worth including it. We’re all here to have -fun-. As player’s we’re supposed to be fighting for a fictional cause, not one from reality. Let the writers convey the message they want to. At the end of the day, we receive that message and decide how to interpret it on an individual basis.

Allow me to put it this way. Sylvari are not homosexual. They’re pansexual. The entire race is pansexual. Having a male Sylvari in a relationship with another male Sylvari isn’t a homosexual relationship. Its a pansexual relationship, because both individuals are pansexual.

And this makes them undesirable to you as representatives to your persuasion… how again?

He just said. Because they’re not homosexual. It is not a representation or inclusion of homosexuality if the characters are not homosexual.
Take it from an actual pansexual.

My relationship with my wife, for example, is not a representation of heterosexuality because neither of us are heterosexual, even if we are male and female.

No matter how much I’d like to see a male/male sylvari relationship, it would only be inclusion, really, for pansexuals, because it’s representing a male/male pansexual relationship (unless a gay person decides to count it as inclusion on an individual basis, it varies between people, the OP is not in this boat). And unless it’s very explicitly stated that for some reason those two particular sylvari really do prefer males for some reason, and I don’t really see Anet getting that specific any time soon. This is why he’s asking for humans, because they don’t default to pansexual, and it’s much more likely a male/male relationship with them would be heavily implied to be homosexual instead of bisexual or pansexual.

Hopefully I have explained this concisely and clearly.

Quite Eloquently, thank you for the assistance =)

Likewise, I’d prefer humans for the gay male/s NPC/s for the additional fact that its easier to relate to humans. I’d be happy with just one openly gay human male. He doesn’t need to be in a relationship, he doesn’t need to be, ‘obviously gay,’ or drag his orientation into the story at all. A little dialogue option when the character is introduced wherein its made clear he prefers the male gender is all I’d honestly like to see.

I wouldn’t want to see this character hitting on random men, trying to get into a relationship, or really doing anything more than his job and attempting to survive in a world that stands on the brink of destruction due to the ancient, eldritch threat that is the Elder Dragons. The fact he is gay is something in the background, its a part of his character, and which has absolutely no bearing on what he does in the story, or the plot.

That’s really all I would ask for.

If I don’t get that? Oh well, too bad. The game is still fun to play, and the story is still worth following. I won’t be upset or start a riot or something. I won’t blame A.net for not bringing a character like that into prominence in the story. It’s far easy to portray female homosexuals than male homosexuals given who their audience is, and ultimately, this game is part of a business, so they’ll be expected to do what makes them money.

I do not mind npcs having relationships, I just do not like any story focusing on it as it is quite irrelevant to literally anything in the game. This is a world threatened by apocalyptic dragons, we have far greater concerns.

Personally I have zero interest in Kas/Marj love interest, just like I have zero interest in the Logan/Jenna love interest. The only thing that irritates me is when it becomes the story focus, it detracts for the greater picture and makes me feel like my character is nothing but a creepy nosey eavesdropper.

At least Logans love was much more in the background rather in my face all the time. I blame the writers here, they love the characters a bit too much and have been neglecting other far more important facets of the story.

I don’t know, I can see Logan and Jennah’s relationship as having a valid and far-reaching consequence in the story. If those two ever tie the knot, it means Kryta then has a King, and a potential heir to the throne can be born. That’s bound to stir up the White Mantle -and- the Ministry on a number of levels. The only issue there is that A.net has been shown to be reluctant to focus on human story, mostly because the original game was human dominated. I think the first season of Living Story is proof of this, given that it heavily involved the other races in terms of cultures, themes, and so forth, but in which humans had a very passing moment during the Queen’s Jubilee.

You have Trahearne, isn’t that enough? Leader of the Pact forces and all that jazz?

He never quite seemed gay to me. Lacked confidence, sure, but never seemed gay. That, and as other people have said, in a society that lacks gender roles, being gay isn’t much of an accomplishment or anything.

So, you don’t want the Sylvari because they don’t care one way or the other?

Allow me to put it this way. Sylvari are not homosexual. They’re pansexual. The entire race is pansexual. Having a male Sylvari in a relationship with another male Sylvari isn’t a homosexual relationship. Its a pansexual relationship, because both individuals are pansexual.

I actually wanted to write something more well-thought out and so, but I’m a little too dumbfounded how the fanbase is suddenly turning Scarlet into a draco in leatherpants.

That’s ..actually also kind of a bad impression to give the writers since it implies that people are positively amazed with the quality of this writing when it’s actually still mediocre. I hope they continue pushing their limits instead of stopping just because their ‘expectations’ were met.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure the alliances will slowly die out one after another by the hands of players. There shouldn’t be too many left after LA. Emphasis on should. (how big are those armies anyway) The only one I can see sticking around for much longer than the others is the Aetherblades.

I could possibly seeing the Aetherblades turn side at the end and join Lion’s Arch.

No! god NO! NO NO NO!

One thing is having gay relationships in the game. but there is way more gay relationships than hetero relationships. I have nothing against those gay realationships. as that grants those gay people their inclusion HOWEVER majority of us gamers are hetreo. and there is LITTLE to none hetero relationships in the game. We need more of those :P

I took you seriously until I saw the smiley at the end. Well played sir! Very well played!

So, Lion's arch post-Scarlet. . .

in Living World

Vexander.9850

Semi-expansions via gemstore?

Vexander.9850

Personally, I like the idea of Expansions. However, an Expansion shouldn’t exclude those without it from the Living Story. So, for example, if there is a Cantha expansion, those who purchase it can visit the continent and explore it whenever they like, roll a new race, a new class, and have access to new dungeons, armors, and weapons. Those who don’t buy it can access restricted zones for Living Story content.

To use the current Living Story as an example, if you didn’t have the expansion, you could only access Lion’s Arch and the hub of Gendarren Field. Once the Living Story content is over, you can’t access those areas again unless they’re part of the next or a future Living Story installment.

In this, players can experience the expansion content on a minimal scale, which may prompt them to buy the expansion, or they may choose to not purchase the expansion and keep to what the original game gives them.

Either a relationship like Kasmeer and Marjory’s needs to have a more permanent and available development for a character to progress through, or there needs to be a way to replay Living Story content/scenes/dialogue with a suggested chronological order.

Eh, I say it’d be almost enough if it was enough the sign outside the house wasn’t penciled in anymore . . . and they continue to show up as a team/pair. It’s not really necessary to beat us over the head with them having “completed negotiations” on their boundaries. What is necessary is showing they weren’t just shoved off camera and left behind, but continue to exist and act unless there’s compelling reason not to act. Such as for one’s health or concerns closer to home than . . . oh, chasing an Elder Dragon’s trail into Maguuma.

That’s a fair point. I personally hope they get some well deserved rest after this and play a minor role for the second season of the Living Story. Their home should be open and they should have dialogue options for the events of the next Living Story season, to give opinions, and after Marjory has recovered from her injuries, she and Kasmeer should become more active towards the end of the second season in support roles, before becoming prominent again in the Third Season. Arguably, Rox and Braham should be given the same treatment.
