The cost in gems for the Upgrade Extractor makes it uneconomical to salvage anything except for Infusions worth hundreds of gold though.
Pretty much. Personally, I don’t see why Anet doesn’t allow you to salvage Karma Armor and just give you the upgrades and some ruined ore/ruined leather/ruined cloth. Just vendor trash.

Tequatl is an exception, but then again, I’ve also done the Shatterer and Claw of Jormag and Frozen Maw and others on different characters several times a day and was able to look the dragon chests just fine. It’s the Karka Queen I couldn’t loot on additional characters, oddly enough.
You know, I’d gotten GW1 a year before GW2 released. Played it a little bit. It’s… not that fun of a game to be honest. I got the hang of it and tried to get into it, but something about it just kept throwing me off. I never could finish any of the expansions. Tried looking up guides on different classes and stuff for solo gameplay and just never managed to enjoy myself.
Then a year after GW2 launched, a friend wanted to go after HoM achievements and we tried it together. It was a little better, but still pretty terrible to be honest. Honestly it’s just a different game. I guess the point of this little anecdote is that the way HoM works now feels almost misleading. It encourages players to play a game that is radically different from GW2.

Yes, but not the extra Exotic one, just the Rare, Masterwork, and Fine ones. But you do get to open the bonus Dragon Chest that spawns in the world each character.
I’ve done Tequatl on all 4 of my 80s for the past two days in a row. The trick is to arrive early.
There is an Upgrade Extractor which should be able to remove things like Runes and Sigils.
I’m hoping when Lion’s Arch is finished being rebuilt it’ll be way better than it was before. I know some people liked the, ‘Charm,’ of a city built largely out of shipwrecks but the place felt more like a Slum than a City. Given it’s history that’s acceptable, but now that it’s people have a chance to build from the ground up, seeing it given a more impressive makeover would be nice.
The Super Adventure Box would get taken over by Inquest and we’d have to play through the levels to save her alongside a Frantic Braham.
Yeah, I had gathered as much. I think the really interesting thing to see will not be the WHY but rather the HOW and what happens after that. How will it impact Tyria, and especially Ascalon. The Charr have been in war for more than 250 years with the ghosts, how will it affect everything else..?
Well firstly you’d have the largest army in Tyria sitting around with not all that much to do. Oh sure they’ll still need to fight the Branded, the seperatists (who I never really though of as a massive threat) and the flame legion (who seems to have lost most of their leadership) but a pretty big chunk of them is going to be freed up. A bunch of battle hardened warmongers with nothing to do? Sure that will end just fine.
Well, they’ll be able to wipe out the Elder Dragons and focus on them. After that… well, in GW3 I’m sure they’ll be back to an antagonist race.
The most recent Living Story video seems to indicate that ghosts will be released/removed from the game(see attached screenshot and watch wooden potatoes latest video) and jewelry has yet to be raised to 500 so there may be a large demand and reduced supply coming soon. Now might be the last chance to get low tier dust cheap.
Rytlock will probably fail to end the curse. That’s the twist. We all expect him to succeed and be deemed the rightful King of Ascalon, because that’d make sense, but Anet doesn’t always follow the most obvious and logical path in it’s Living Story content.
This could probably be fixed if players were given customizable home instances. Not even ones necessarily in the main cities. Heck, Lion’s Arch is being rebuilt, give players ones there, and allow them to choose where things like these show up.

In practically every story that involves a prophesy, the prophesy turns out to have been misinterpreted and in a plot twist the prophesy is fulfilled, but not the way everyone was expecting.
Having Rytlock become “True King” is perfect story-logic.
Which is why it’d be nice if Anet didn’t have this be like every story, and allowed it’s prophecy to unfold as the prophecy fore-tells.
Vexander that is an amazing theory but there is one thing wrong with it. Gwen and Keiran have no indication of being of the royal line. Anet has been known to pull things out of hat so who knows.
-Also I have done some research and King Adelbern is actually of royal blood according to GW1 mkittencripts (wow filter over much, GW1 lore book). This is probably why he could cause the foe fire in the first place.
-The only known heir to Ascalon currently is Wade SamuelssonFinal note cleansing of foe fire will fail because they would have to rewrite hearts for all Ascalon areas and changes dozens of events.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Salma didn’t know she was of the royal line either, did she? Somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised if Logan is of royal blood and it just hasn’t been revealed because at some point in the past, some king had a mistress and such.

Waller said that while players may not see potential story hooks like these picked up immediately, they’re certainly “interesting” and ripe for speculation. He also cautioned that plot threads which appear to lead to obvious conclusions might actually head off in an entirely different direction. Hopefully that’s good news for those of us who are fans of Kryta’s young queen.
It sounds like they aren’t ready to use the amulet, if it’s even going to be used as a storyline at all. The way it’s phrased sort of scares me, like they didn’t expect the fan base to pay attention to it and it was just a random piece of magic a dragon wanted.
The story has been so interesting lately, I hope it doesn’t fall flat and just be a generic “rally the forces and kill the mindless dragon who wants to eat magic”, and all our speculation is us coming up with interesting stories that will never happen.
Sounds to me like they intend to use the Amulet in a different manner than we’re all thinking/expecting. If we’re thinking it’ll be used to discover the next King/Queen if Jennah dies, that probably won’t be the case. I think the theories of the Amulet being the Keystone to the Bloodstones is true, and that it’s going to be used in conjunction with them to take down the Elder Dragons. What the amulet could do in the short term is perhaps play a role in undoing the curse of Ascalon.
I sincerely hope Rytlock fails to break the curse, and that Logan is the one to do it for him. It could be a good step forward towards further mending their relationship. Maybe Eir actually fixed the other sword and intends to give it to Logan. Honestly I think Logan being able to break the curse, wield a sword, and solidify himself as royalty would be a major step forward in his character. There’s no telling how he’ll handle it. We’d all expect his immediate reaction to be to marry Jennah and live happily ever after, but in reality the weight of a Crown may cause him to, well… grow up a bit. He’d have to realize that there were people who’d look to him for leadership and guidance, and that simply giving away Ascalon couldn’t be as easy as it seemed.
Plot Twist: Rytlock fails. Logan’s in the neighborhood and gives it a try. Logan succeeds. Deemed the rightful King of Ascalon, he’s now free to marry Jennah like he and she have always wanted to do, and then fulfills the treaty with the Charr by solidifying that the territory of Ascalon they currently hold is truly theirs.
Having a number of the skins and such myself, I really don’t see why opening up HoM rewards to the Gem Store is a bad thing. I mean, you still get rewarded for earning the rewards in HoM which achievement points after all, and access to the Hall of Monuments anytime, anywhere (seriously, that has come in -so- useful whenever I’ve had to go AFK at random). There are also the titles with are exclusive to having played GW1…
Honestly, the skins are probably among the more visual rewards and all but I’d be fine if they were purchasable on the Gem Store.

Underwater combat could stand to be improved. Increase base movement speed in the water, for example. Water shouldn’t feel like an obstacle. That said, classes other than thief need better underwater combat skillsets for their weapons. As a Thief I can stay underwater and fight pretty much anything with a Spear. Every other class? Not so much.
Never heard of this, but I’ve got almost 8K AP. To be perfectly honest, that seems like the dumbest hurdle to dungeons and stuff by players I’ve ever heard of. I can -count- the number of dungeon runs I’ve done and I don’t think it’s above 20. I don’t have experience with any of them really. I don’t run dungeons regularly. I come along to help a friend now and then. I wouldn’t mind getting into dungeon runs now and then but people expect you to know everything about them.
People say, “Path 1,” and I scratch my head and just follow whoever is in front of me.
A Kimono/Yukata would be sweet. Though I’d kill for actual robes for a change, rather than all these open dress skirts we get.
A full length one wouldn’t be possible since generally all types of kimono are tightly bound and allow little movement. The stretching would be weird too.

I dont know why they dont just leave them on offer all the time? surely it woudl be better for sales, and I cant think of a downside at all gameplay wise.
It’s about making them seem rare, rare = desired, with these limited time offers they’re likely creating a huge amount of impulse buyers.
Funny because it’s working in the opposite for me. I’d like to buy the tools, but when they’re up, I don’t have the gems/cash to buy gems for them. When I do have the money/gems for the tools, they’re never up, so I never buy gems.

Honestly I just think they’re ugly. They’re just corroded rock and magic. The magic part is cool and all, but the rest of it is hardly impressive in the slightest. Personally I found the Phoenix and Lovestruck Skins to be more my speed. They looked like proper weapons for the most part with acceptable magical enchantments/additions. My only complaint is that they don’t come with Gold instead of the Grey/Silver we got.

I’m more interested to see Jennah’s role in all of this. She was alluded to a few times in the story. Kasmeer mentioned her as one of the leaders that’d prove most dangerous to Mordremoth, and then in Timberline Falls, the vines seem to be going after a locket that has a powerful enchantment showing the current ruler of Kryta, which would be Jennah.
It could be that the Pale Tree is a source of magic. The Leylines are like currents of magic, and the places they intersect are extraordinarily powerful. If the Human Gods are sources of Magic, I don’t see why the Pale Tree cannot be one as well. I always wondered if the Dream wasn’t connected to the Mists in some manner, and since magic comes from the Mists as well, if the Pale Tree is connected to the Mists through the Dream, then it seems plausible she is the strongest source of magic on Tyria, and thus represents its, “Center.”
I was kind of hoping we would have gotten her sword at the end of that mission…
My guess is that its possible that Kasmeer and the others aren’t fully aware the PC is the Commander of the Pact. That said, the Pale Tree may also simply be withdrawn at the moment. One of her children committed acts of unspeakable violence upon all the peoples of Tyria. That, and there’s an Elder Dragon on the loose, one that directly threatens her. She might have a lot on her mind and not enough time to spare.

Did it with my Guardian. Found that it doesn’t matter if you get knocked on your butt, it just matters that you don’t fall off that top part. Knowing that I was able to use dodges and stand at the center when Nochtli used that unavoidable big jump thing. However, Stability and Aegis were major helps.
That jump isn’t unavoidable. There’s a reason an arrow that points up appears when she does that move. YOU’RE supposed to jump as well. That’s how you avoid it, by literally pressing the space bar. As for everything else, it’s just about not standing in the fire. What are you guys doing? Not dodging at all? And it’s not the first time we’ve had a “jump to avoid” mechanic either. Tequatl, anyone?
Maybe its just lag, but the times I tried to jump, I would be in mid-air, at the zenith of my jump, and still get knocked back. Mechanics like this are not fair to players with poor internet connections, and I’d say mine is actually on the good side.

The story delivery is Season 1 was not at all up to par. Due to this we have a lot of pre-conceptions of how the Biconics are from Season 1. Season 2 delivery is much better by orders of magnitude (for those of us that care about the story) with this delivery method they will be able to properly shape the characters.
At this moment there is not a lot of depth to any of them. At this moment I would say that Taimi has the most depth out of all of them because her personality was really able to shine in the last part of the episode. The rest of them are too basic to their generic form but this will change over time.
This I agree with. However, by the same token, I don’t see why we cannot have an influx of new characters as well. For example, something the Biconics are missing right now is a Sylvari member (for some reason I used to think they’d have saved Scarlet and she’d have been the last member, or that it’d have been that one I can’t recall from the Edge of the Mists and all). However, once all the races are properly represented, that gives Anet a chance to further branch out!
Let’s say, for example, now that we have an Asura, we can get two more, and we learn all three ascribe to different colleges? Or three more Norn who follow the ways of the other four Spirits? Two or three more charr from other Legions? Gives us a chance to really get into the cultures of these races.
I know we’d end up with a ton of characters, but if Anet brought back the Merc/Hero system of GW1 for Living Story and Personal Story, it could work out quite nicely. Take that one mission in the recent Living World where Rox, Braham, and Taimi have to stay behind because only the player character, Kasmeer, and Marjory could safely go forward due to weight issues. Imagine if the player could have selected from a pool of other characters, 3 more to accompany them? They don’t necessarily have to have any relevance to that specific segment of the story either, but having a few with hidden dialogue or options could really open up some options.
Kasmeer will take Lyssa’s place as the Goddess of Illusions.

That said, I’m glad a few people read the points and were able to either see the logic, or acknowledge it but discuss why they disagree. You guys have my respect.

This is the point where you’ll say most players don’t even use the forums. You’re right. And if they don’t make their viewpoint known, we can’t really say they agree or disagree, so for the point of the discussion, they’re not even a factor. We’d be pulling from the population of players who make posts on the forums, and that population typically has complaints on the new Destiny’s Edge.
Please, give us new characters in the new Living Story.
I think many but not all posters on these forums happen to agree, 4/5 of the new Destiny’s Edge (Marjory, Kasmeer, Rox, Braham, and Taimi) are just uninteresting, controversial for the sake of controversy, or annoying. I’m not saying outright get rid of the characters, but, please, can’t we get some new characters with a little more thought behind them, and personality?
It feels like with each successive introduction of characters, they got better. Rox and Braham feel very flat and bland. Rox is a stereotypical charr being a stereotypical charr. She’s looking out for her warband, and fighting tooth and claw. Braham is the dumb jock with mommy issues. I hate to describe him that way, but that’s him to the letter. His answer to everything is brute force.
Marjory’s introduction was interesting with the film noire gritty detective angle, but to be honest, she hasn’t lived up to being a detective. For the most part, we solve the mysteries for her, while she takes the credit. Kasmeer felt more interesting, because she was not just a Mesmer, but also of the nobility, giving us a glimpse into Krytan culture and such. However, since these two were openly revealed as Lesbians, what little personality they had went down the toilet to keep pushing that, ’We’re a couple,’ angle. I think these two are still salvageable, but they need individual work, and their relationship needs to reach a less, in-your-face level. It’s fine for them to be in a corner kissing or talking about a date, but in the middle of a tragedy like Dry Top, it just doesn’t fit.
Taimi is the one character out of the five who seems the best developed at this time. Her illness doesn’t define her like Braham’s mommy issues or Marjory and Kasmeer’s relation does for those characters. Taimi’s illness -enhances- her personality, and boy does she ever have personality! Taimi is the kind of character I look forward to learning about in GW3, expecting her to have become the head of the Arcane Council who led the Asura to an era of prosperity and innovation and such. She’s already amazing, and yet she has all this awesome potential!
We need more characters like Taimi; characters who don’t outright usurp the Player-Character in terms of importance or role, who have a strong personality, and who aren’t defined by any single aspect of their character.

I’d like some Light armor for males and females both that looks like actual Robes. The -only- one I can think of at the moment is the pants from the Winged set, that insect-like one. All the others are typically dresses for women, or skirts with pants for guys. Why we don’t have more actual Robe options boggles my mind and makes me cry a bit on the inside.
To be fair, even if mixing and matching isn’t possible, I kind of wish we could choose an armor class to wear anyways. Make an Elementalist in Heavy Armor, a Guardian in Light Armor, etc…
Because the world loves America right? Don’t think we will ever have sales that are tied to an individual country’s holiday.
Except I can see it being done on the Chinese servers because it is one country.
