I wanna see how many contents we have in this game, and if i missed any of them or not.

I can count:

-PvE
exploring, hearts, JP, dynamic quests, mega bosses, personal story
-Spvp
-WvW
-Dungeons
-Fractals

I separated dungeons and fractals cause i find them kinda different form one another.

I also separated PvE from dungeons cause i find the requirements to play dungeons far more demanding than anything you would need for PvE (regarding class, gear and such)

I’m asking this cause i think it will help me figure out what i wanna focus on, and what class/type of build i’d like to main….after 1k ingame hours spend….

I feel like I am playing this game wrong...

welcome to gw2

id like to start with you asking your self what makes gw2 fun for you.

you have several aspects of the game that require a different approach.

-PvE

you have your basic Player vs Environment content, those are your hearts, exploring for vistas ,points of interest, looking for hidden jumping puzzles and treasures, personal story missions. Here you can play as whatever you want. You can tinker with your engeneers turrets, train your rangers pets, or summon a army of minions with a necro, whatever is fun for you works.
You also have some dynamic chain events that pop up every now and then.

Example: The flame legion attacks the nearby charr outpost, players group up and defend it, afterwards the players look for the charr warband and group them up so they can lead an attack on the flame legion temple. The players then charge and capture the flame legion temple. The chain event ends here, however a portal appears that leads you to the normally hidden and locked away burial place that you can explore with the group that just captured the flame temple. Its full of traps and puzzles to solve and has a big treasure chest at the end.

-sPvP

Structured Player vs Player is where you join in a 5v5 arena match,, all players have free access to all gear and all lvls, its up to you to decide what class and what build to go for in a match.

Outwit your opponents, toy with their minds with a mezmer, play tournaments and gain glory!

-Dungeons

Dungeons are instances where you enter with 4 other players. You will face hard opponents and harder bosses, traps, puzzles. gear, gold, and tokens to exchange for a special themed set of armor and weapons.

While dungeons are a part of PvE, it requires a whole different aproach than regular PvE. At the moment, it requires a lot of aoes and pure damage. Warriors are usually wanted for speed clears….witch usually end in a hit or miss situation (either you clear the dungeon in 15 minutes, or you keep dying over and over again)

-Fractals

Fractals are something like dungeons, except they are shorter and you play them one after another in a chain. The more you play the better rewards you get, but it also gets a lot stronger.

-WvWvW

At the moment, its the thing that most people would call “end game content”

World vs World vs World puts you with the rest of the players on your server in 4 different large zones.

The players then wage wars against one another, use siege weapons against towers and walls and keeps to control more land and gather more points.

The rewards usually come from killing players and getting loot bags, but the better you do on wvw the more “perks” the entire server will have.

I would also suggest joining a guild. Guilds can host events that reward you with some of the best stuff in the game, but they can also provide the “mmo” part in the mmorpg.

Decide what part of the game you see your self spending most of the time. Then pick a class you find most fun, and add stats, weapons, skills and traits that work best with it.

What do you Do with your 80 Alts?

i have a lvl 80 guardian, ele and a thief atm
i also have lvl 40ish engeneer, warrior, and a necro that i kinda lvl up now and then

the problem with me is that i cant rely decide on a “main” , so i cant call the lvl 80 classes alts.

i usually go dungeons ,tequatl and such harder content with a guardian, wvw with a ele…and just plain having fun with a thief in pvp, wvw, pve

At this time, when season 1 ended and season 2 hasnt started you cant rely ask such a question…and you cant ask for a simple YES or NO answer

i think you should ask this question after they released the feature pack updates and see how that works.

then we should wait for the first new season 2 gameplay content and see if it has more impact on the world than the previous living story.

the pve mob/dungeons combat is NOT set up for holy trinity combat system.

While classes have different options for combat, healing skills, buff skills, burst, condition, debuff/control, the community has decided the most efficient way to clear the pve content is to go full power/crit/crit dmg.

IMO, the ideal “fix” anet is trying to figure out would be the combat system of neverwinter.

while different classes have a lot of different skills with different spells to pick from, they are only able to have a limited number of them in combat.

Its action packed, and there is in fact tank/dps/support/controll, and when i say control its not just a few stuns ,knocks backs and interupts that have 30-1min cd and you wait for the right time to use them…

The one thing people keep forgetting about this whole holy trinity idea coming to gw2 is that gw2 pve/dungeon mob combat system is NOT designed for a holy trinity system….and then theres also wvw and spvp

You can make a guardian survive more than 1-2 shots from a boss that he keeps agro on, and you can make a ele a fast reliable healer to keep the tank and the rest of the group up… but the community will still go full zerker and rely on their own healing skills and dodges and finish the dungeon in 15minutes instead of 45…

Slowly.... slipping toward the holy trinity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

people keep forgetting about 1 major problem with this whole trinity story.

The whole pve game itself is not designed to handle the holly trinity.

just imagine that guardians could somehow hold agro on mobs, and imagine elementalists use the healing skills they already have to heal the party.

now place that guardian and that ele and 3 more dps classes in a dungeon scenario.

a tank would go full bunker build cause mobs/bosses hit like trains meaning tanks would only be welcomed as a full bunker meta build…there goes that build deversity.

ele would go full healing power and hope their boon duration /regeneration lasts long enough to hold the tank up all the way trough the battle.
Notice that ele healing skills have quite a cooldown….

and then theres also that 5 target aoe cap in a dungeon with 10+mobs that scatter all over the party…

The whole pve mob combat isnt set up to work in a holy trinity system.

If they really wanted to do that, they would have to make some serious changes to the pve mobs/dungeons…and then theres also wvw and spvp…

-guild missions for guild commendations for ascendent accessories
-guild perks (its not much, but its there)
-hopefully soon to be guild halls
-its a mmo, make friends
-guild teamspeak
-wvw runs
-dungeon runs
-organised events (clearing all dungeons and teaching new players how to deal with them)
-not having to deal with pugs like “NEED ELE, LV80 ZERK ONLY, NO **HEADS”
-not having to spend 1 hour in CM P2 just to blast open the gate…and then fail at it and rage quit..
-casual spvp
-again , its a mmo, people should socialise and make friends…

minion necros

in Necromancer

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

MM necros focus on death and a little bit on blood magic. What this does is increasing the hp/dmg of their minions and giving them special abilities such as boon removing, condition removing and tons of life leach.

Death magic increases armor ,and Minions attack dmg doesnt scale with any stat

A good MMNecro will be tanky as hell with tons of life steal and he usually doesnt use conditions as a way of dmg, instead he simply uses pure dmg (as well as the dmg from minions)

While its always good to focus down the necro and not the minions, the minions are a big problem.

MMNecros have few weaknesses tho, a thief and a mezmer can counter him perfectly.

The mezmers clones and the thieves stealth usually confuses the minions all the time.
The result-> minions will scatter on all sides focusing clones, or will be simply “stuck and confused and just standing still” for loosing their target that just went in stealth.
This makes the necro himself wide open for attacks and his minions ,and all the nasty things they come with off of you.

As a guardian ,or a warrior…or pretty much almost anyone else that doesnt have stealth or clones ,or minions….. you dont have much chance against a MMnecro.

PS: oh, also there is that thing called death shroud………

My view on the combat system

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

i kinda agree. but here is the way i look at it.

in other mmos i see mobs that just come close to you and start swinging their weapon at you ever 1-2 seconds.
there are also ranged ones but it looks and feels the same (shooting a arrow or a fireball at you every few seconds)

but in gw 1 ,as you progressed further in the game ,you will find mobs that have actual skill builds just as the players have, and if you rely go deep enough in to the more harder areas, the mobs will have complex builds with skills from 2 professions (and monster exclusive builds)

add that up with grouping 4-6 mobs together with various builds (healing, dps, cc) and every mob group you face is a small challenge that requires thinking instead of simply running into them and start swinging your own sword.

I think this should be the case in gw2 as well.
while some mobs already have their own skill sets (boars use charge, wolf use call for help, a undead orrian can summon a (geysir from elementalist?) to heal his undead friends) sometimes its still not quite a challenge at the “highest lvl zones”

imo, there should be more mobs that have a larger skill set and that interact with one another (the toxic aliance ,while having downstate on a mob is rediculous, is a great example of mob interacting with one another)

also, in gw1 some mobs had actual gear on them such as runes and insignias, why not have some mobs sigil of flame or a full set of runes on them.

bottom line there are many ways gw2 can make their mobs more challenging without simply increasing its hp and dmg… and if it gets too hard→ ITS A MMO , GROUP UP AND EXPLORE THE WORLD TOGEATHER

Do legendary weapons have better stats?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

legendary weapons have the same stats as ascendent weapons (rare→exotix→ascendent/legendary)

you can howerver change your stats at will with a legendary

as in, double click on it and pick a set of stats you want the legendary weapon to have, play with it for a while then double click it and pick another stat set.

also, flashy footsteps and shiny weapon!

Meta Events... Are they worth it?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

no matter what the odds, it comes down to your luck on getting a exotic

another factor would be the size of the zerg thats doing the meta event (every time, all day)

the chances might be low on geting final rest from behemoth, but every day, and every time he shows up, over 50 people come and get a chanse to get that exotic.

imagine behemoth shows up every hour, and 50 peope come and atleast 1 final rest drops

thats 24 final rests per day, imagine 100 people show up? 48 final rests how many players in those 100 people are there that actualy needed final rest?

in a week youd have hundreads of final rests on the TP worth 50 silver….

meta events arent just about exotics, its about geting a rare skin that can mostly only be found in that meta event, and that is why its such a rare drop

[Idea Brainstorm] Luminary Mode

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vukorep.3081

sorry, but id rather do the entire map completion with 5 different chars with 5 different classes with 5 different gameplay experiences than have to do it with my main char 5 times in a row, over and over again…just to get my self a little bit more gold( can do dungeons for gold) karma ( not much you can buy for it atm..and i still have plenty of it left even after i bought obsi shards) and mf(plenty of ways of getting luck ).

This Luminary mode promotes having 1 char and sticking with it ,rather than having alts and here is why:

If this was a real thing, and if the rewards would be totaly worth it, then eventually (with time) you will have a game full of the same chars with the same luminary armor set.

Cause ,again, if the rewards were so awesome to go for luminary (5 times….) why would i possibly create a new character with a new class i haven’t played yet?

Id just pick a class i like the most, stick with it and do the entire game 5 times…..

Not to mention not trying to try out the other races, personal story combinations and race armors.

New races and new personal story lines and picking the other decision you havent done last time is what gives this game replayabilty, not a reset button for your lvl and map for your main character

Difference between warriors and guardians ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

while both have heavy armor, warrior has the highest hp,while the guardian has the lowest hp(like an elementalist but with heavy armor)

While i think all classes can get them self full zerker gear and build toward offense ,or go full bunker i wont talk much about those differences between the 2 classes.

The main differences i will mention would be the skills and some gameplay between the 2 classes

Warriors have a ton of weapons to pick, and even more weapon combinations to choose from. They are usually going for pure dps since their high base health and heavy armor allows them to focus more on power and precision rather than toughness and vitality.

While they dont have a lot of skills that interact with other players, banners can increase everyones stats, and,if traited correctly , you can become a very good condition removal /healer using nothing but shouts and a warhorn in your offhand
(6 party wide condition removals and around 4500 party wide health every 20-25 seconds)
Now pick any healing skill (6) from any class that has a low CD of 20-25 seconds and check how much they heal the players. Basically , as a shout warrior you are giving everyone (including your self) a free healing skill,as well as tons of condition removal.

As for Guardians, they can become the best healing/support class in the game.
While they have the lowest health, their healing and regeneration skills can bring the guardian from near death up to full health in mere seconds.

They have a lot of utilities that are extremely helpful in a lot of situations (giving everyone instant stability, placing a wall of reflection to reflect back ALL projectiles back to the enemy, taking ALL conditions from all party members, and then turning them all into boons for your self)

If builded correctly , a guardian can have 70-100 % boon duration, and can provide the whole team with tons of regen, protection, swiftness, might as well as constantly healing the whole group.

To sum it all up:

Warriors are focused on offense, and they support the team by making them stronger in strenght.

Guardians are focused on defense, and they support the team by dishing out tons of healing, boons and use their utilities to protect their team from damage and conditions

PS: Personally ,i think guardians are more fun

Weird theory

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vukorep.3081

well, guild wars 2 will automatically send you a email that needs your verification because “someone” is trying to log in form a “different area”.

this happens when you play gw2 from several different computers (your desktop comp, laptop),when you try to play at your friends house (or on another place), as well when your IP changes (if you have a dynamic IP then it will change from now and then, resetting your router also sometimes changes your IP)

ive been playing mmos (tons of different ones) fro about …6 -7 years? and i have never been hacked either, and never have gotten any of those false emails on any game.

There are sometimes some emails that are false, and they try to get your acc info and then you will surely get hacked, so be careful about that.

An example would be of my friends wow acc. he used tons of addons and left his email all over the place. the result ? he was constantly getting false emails claiming that his acc will be closed (for no real reason) and that he needed to go to a nice looking but false wow web site and enter his email and password.

From my experience, when GW 2 sends me emails it looks like this :

i open the client, log in, get a notification that its temporarily locked (cause of a recent IP change,or i went to play on my laptop that i didnt play on for a long time), then i go to my mail, click the button on the mail, it sends me to the gw2 web site ,i tick “remember this xyz” and click verify.

Now…if i get a email telling me that my acc will be shut down and it requires my acc info ,my password and email..i would just ignore those and have no fear of ever getting hacked

Skill Floors & Ceilings -- Your Opinion

in Thief

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

first you should know that even tho youre a melee class, do not expect to simply run into a group of mobs, and swing your sword at them all and wait for them to die.

expect kiting, dodging, evasive skills, crippling and blinding mobs to defeat them (you can also just spike dps 1-2 at the time )

For lvling a thief i suggest using a S/P +shortbow.

I usually engage with a shortbows poison gas, then i kite them in a circle. As the mobs pile on eachother i spam my cluster bomb, and activate it to explode right before it hits the ground. It gives the mobs 3 stacks of bleeding that way.

As for S/P. if done correctly , you can pretty much stay in the same spot spamming your pistol 5 and blind everything thats trying to hit you. you can also spam your 3 to daze 1 target and deal a great damage to all mobs in front of you.

Combine this with signet of malice as your healing skills and you will have a nice burst of healing after each 3 you do.

For utilities use something that goes with well with your weapons.
If you are using weapons that are dealing with multiple mobs, try using traps to snare/knock down multiple mobs.
If you think youre always being outnumbered by the mobs and have a hard time dealing with them, try using ambush. It summons a thief and it deals a nice amount of damage and distractes the mobs from you as well

Also know that a thief does get stronger as you lvl it up via traits.

Surviving Mobs

in Thief

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

thieves do get stronger as they lvl up via traits

a simple 15 into trickery will gain you more initiation points and a easy caltrops on dodge that bleeds and cripples mobs around you

personally im always using a shortbow, i find my self pulling more than 4 mobs with it and getting 0 dmg from any of them.

I engage with poison gas, then i kite them in a nice pile of mob,and then i spam my cluster bomb. i do activate it right before it hits the ground so the bomb deals 3 stacks of bleeding instead of just 1.

The trick arrow 1 skill is also a nice way to deal with mobs.

As for other weapons it repends where i am and what im doing.

If im in lower lvls i usually go with d/d and simply burst mobs quickly. but all in all, S/P is a great way for dealing with mobs on equal lvl.

For lvling utilities i use some that are great with dealing with multiple mobs,

Trip wire is a nice trap that knocks down everyone for 3 seconds
Ambush summons a fellow thief npc that deals nice dmg and distracts mobs from you.

Conjure weapons

in Suggestions

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

So in Gw 1 ,conjure weapons added additional elemental damage to your weapons (that already had elemental damage)

I.e. the fire sword that delt 22 fire dmg, was dealing 40 fire dmg with a conjure weapon that adds +18 fire dmg to fiery weapons.

This also applied to staffs, scythes, wands, any weapons that were dealing air, water, earth, fire type dmg.

In Gw2, conjure weapon skills are summoning 2 weapons, one on the ground, and another on the floor for others to pick up and have 5 new skills to play around.
Conjure weapons also have a limited use. (15 skill uses and its gone)

What i was thinking was kinda of a mix between the 2 systems.

Imagine a ele use conjure Fire.
He summons a small flame on the ground (not a weapon) and the ele himself turns into fire (or gets a special flame animation)

the ele instantly switches to Fire attunement, gets “one with the fire” status that lasts for 30 seconds that grands him special abilities, and shuts his other attunements for their cooldown

His fire attunement skills become more powerfull and deal more raw damage and add burning for 1 second per skill.

once the other atunements get off the CD, if the ele switches to another attunement, he loses the “one with the fire” status, and has regular fire attunement skills once he goes back to them

On the other hand there is still that flame burning on the ground that a ally could pick up and become empowered with the fire element.

A non elementalist profession also becomes “one with the flame”status
Their weapon switch gets thrown into CD (also depending if you’re a warrior with fast hands trait, or a person that uses that rune that reduces weapon swap by 1 sec)

their weapon sets change (depending on the weapon they are wielding )

a 2h sword could use the conjure fiery great sword skills.
a sword/shield could have skills that slashes flames trough the enemy and burns them, the shield could give a fire aura on demand
a 2h hammer could smash the ground for aoe flame bursts, or spin around to grant a fire circle combo field

(all professions that are not ele, will have the same skills, a guardian and a warrior wielding sword/shield would have the same skills available)

Switching between weapons makes the non ele professions loose "one with the flame "status.

It could be done with other conjures as well.
Earth would go more towards blind, toughness, blocking, bleeding, disrupting, pulling and pushing.
Air would go towards swiftness, daze, confuse, stuns, knockbacks
Water would go towards healing, condition removing ,vulnerability, encasing the enemy into a block of ice and such.

Another cool effect would be if the person that’s “one with the element” status have increased xyz stat (depending on the element, just like you would get from todays conjure weapons)

The players could also get small bursts of boons, also depending on the element.

Getting 2 seconds of might on skill use when “one with fire”, cast a aoe fire blast that damages and burns foes for 3 seconds when "one with fire " ends

Getting 2 secs of regen on skill use when “one with water”, aoe condition removal when the status ends

getting 2 secs of swiftness on skill use when “one with air”, aoe daze on removal

getting 2 secs of protection on skill use when " one with earth", aoe knockback on removal.

So not only would you get increased stats, short bursts of boons and a new set of skills, you also get a useful “on demand” effect when you switch your weapons and end the status

All ele skills would be different than the other professions

A ele that is “one with the fire” and is wielding D/D has a different set of skills than a thief that is wielding D/D

A ele that has a staff equiped and under the effect of “one with the fire” would have the same skills as a ele that has S/D equipped.

The “one with the element” status has no usage limit, but only lasts for 30 seconds.
You are free to spam as much skills as you like during those 30 seconds.
You are forced to used them for at least 10 seconds ( average weapon/attunement switch cooldown) afterwich you either continue to use the skills and let it end by it self with a end effect after 30 seconds, or you switch atunements/weapons sets and use the end effect instantly

When a profession switches his weapon/attunement from the conjure weapon skill set, the other cooldown are not effected.

a d/d +p/p thief is using d/d. runs towards the conjured weapon on the ground with d/d, gains a new set of fire skills that he uses for 10 seconds.

He switches to p/p and looses the one with fire status and its fire skills.
He can then immediately switch back to his d/d.

same goes with a ele switching from fire to water, after ending one with the fire status.
he can then go back to fire attunement

So ,what do you people think of this idea?
Any suggestions?

i don’t agree with “free” instant lvl 80 any characters.

Leveling in this game doesn’t feel grindy for me, and it surely doesn’t take much to get to lvl 80 if you play as a casual gamer on a daily basis.

wvwv doesn’t give you lvl 80 characters, they pump your base stats to that of a lvl 80 character. You’re still lvl 10,with 1 trait point, wearing lvl 10 green gear with half of your skill slots missing.

as for sPVP, it gives everyone the same lvl, gear, traits, skills, everyone has equal basics ,you get to pick what build you wanna use in sPVP… and that’s one of the reasons why its called structured pvp..

like i said, getting to lvl 80 is easy enough, even for a casual player.
Getting a single lvl 80 character and then getting 4 more instant lv 80 characters with different professions (and lvl 1 gear…that are stuck in queensdale,or wherever your race starts in) is just pointless..

If you HATE exploring and “grinding” your way trough the maps, stroy missions, dungeons and the new living story content (that you can do on your “main” first lvl 80 char) than what exactly would you be doing with a brand new lvl 80 engeneer that you just popped form the gem shop?

go to wvw? but you mentioned that part is already giving you a lvl 80 char..

go “grind” your way trough the lv 1 maps with a lvl 80 char? what for? you don’t need exp…you said it your self :" i don’t want to return at 80 to diessa plateau for the crappy quests or events that don’t offer usable reward, or rather reward that maters to me at my level 80."

skill points? you can champ farm with your main lvl 80 character and you will have 50 skill scrools within a couple of hours….

Popping a new lvl 80 char, spending gold that your main character gathered (lvling and going trough the content) to get your new char lvl 80 exotics and then go ..idk..run from queensdale to arah cause new characters don’t have anything explored.

That reminds me…. All the people that got 100% map completion, they already explored the world, why would they do the same on another new character?
Why not mail 2 gifts of exploration to all new characters you make after you get the first 2 ? and give all WP available to new chars as well…

“equip a legendary weapon” achievement, i already went trough ALL the hell to make a legendary and to equip it..why would i have to do it again on my alts? lets make legendary weapons a “option” in the gem shop as well!…
bad idea? well its not like its forced …its a option… too much? well..lets just put the legendary weapon SKINS into the gem shop then..you can be a lvl 1 warrior wielding a eternity that has 100 dmg and 0stats !

just ask your self, what exactly would you do if you made a new character that is lvl 80…

the reason why it takes more than half of a minute is cause people go to the heart of the mists (pvp zone) thats 1 loading screen.

then they walk to the LA portal and they go to LA ….another loooong loading screen.

and then they WP to the markets WP, another short loading screen, then run to their respective Trait trainer, reset the traits….pick new ones… and then say you wanna go to frostgorge .they would WP back to the portal island, walk to the hoelbrak portal…wait another loading screen… WP to the gate that leads from hoelbrak to the nearest zone towards frostgorge, go trought the portal…another loading screen…

and then they would spend 2S to WP to frostgorge…..

i know its dumb, and takes a lot of time…but its amaising how many people do this just to save a couple of silver each time they have to visit LA…

You could also stack up on Grandmaster trait manuals…but those cost quite more than a trip to LA..or a gem store triat reset

Lets say your guild has 30 active members.
Each member does 15 events per day.
You gain 1,87s per event.

(1,87s x 15 × 30) = 8,41,50g (x 0,05) = 42,07s

Thank you

having 300 active members should grant you 4.2 gold per day (if they do 15 events..tho people do more than that…)

Thief Initiative vs Cd's

in Thief

Vukorep.3081

I guess they think of it at this way

a necro uses all his skills, ends up all on cd and spams his 1

thieves use all their skills, have no initiative and ends up spamming his 1.

the difference is that thieves get to pick what skill to use multiple times that result in 0 initiative (that kinda has the same effect as having all skills on cd)

its like, imagine a necro being with a staff, and instead of casting 2,3,4,5 skills after witch all of his skills go on cd and not avaiable, imagine him being able to cast 5,5,5,5 after witch the 2,3,4,and 5 skills go on a same cooldown .

as for them comparing the buff they made on our base ini with the “lowering the cd on all weapons from other classes by 25%” its cause with faster ini regen, you get to spend less time with “not enough initiation” before you get to use another heart seeker.

just as with regular cooldown reduction on staffs, you get to wait less before you get to use your mark of blood.

so yeah, its almost the same thing, except thieves get to pick what skill they want to use multiple times over another skill that’s available for them.

maybe it would go something like in the starting tutorial zone

like shamour for example (human starting tutorial zone)

while a group of players stay and defend the garrison from behind (doing a pre event to enter the tower) another band of players are inside the garrison and fights in different stages all the way to the final boss (clearing dungeon stages, as well as JP till the final boss)

when the inner party has defeated the earth elemental summoned by the centaur, they exit the zone, while the group in front of the garrison enters and starts the process all over again.

for the love of God..please don’t add this feature to every single mob (not even to every single “sentient” mob) all around the world…

Unless you get some sort of special rewards like
- a chance to get double loot
-higher rare items chance

otherwise its just a waste of time…

SPECIALLY in zergs!! Even in smaller teams, its useless to gang up on a single mob with 30+champ train players and only 1 player gets to stomp the champ… and gets nothing for it….

If Anet NEEDS to add this into the game, then leave it in living story content only….
or just in dungeons BUT NOT ON ALL MOBS.

Trash mobs should stay trash mobs….

Imagine playing cof (the path with the demolition asura guy)
now imagine 5 players protecting the asura demolitionist form stealthed assassins while fighting off a never ending wave of trash mobs…AND STOMPING EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!?!

i think this is a good idea.

However i don’t think this should be implemented world wide.

adding this feature to veterans and elites would be great.
adding it to champions isn’t practical. we all know how we attack and kill champs.
Imagine a champion train of 30+players zerging a champion. then all 30 + players try to finish off a downed champion…and only 1 gets him for no reward what so ever . just a waste of 3 seconds (not to mention sea champions…………….)

Another idea would be to add this feature just for dungeons.
Ofc, trash mobs still have to be trash mobs..but fighting a champ boss fight with a a couple of veterans that could bring back the champ from a downed state would be interesting.

bottom line:

-leave the trash-normal mobs out of this
-leave the champions out of it aswell
-elites or veterans could use this
-make the pvE finishing move be at least 2x faster
-make it more rewarding if you actually use a finishing move on the mob rather than simply slashing it away
-make it so large groups, and zergs also have their own rewards when ganking up on a single mob with a finishing move.

another idea would be to add this just for living story zones and maps… personally i wouldn’t like having this feature following me from queensdale all the way to arah..

i wouldn’t say its the most fun class evar…but a warrior is able to pull off some nice trait/skils combos that give him several interesting builds and roles in both pve and wvwvw

thieves on the other hand can either go straight dmg, straight dmg with sneaky stealth, condition dmg, tanky venomshare condition..

not sure about all that removing /stealing/giving buff build , some of those traits will change as well as the sword skill 2.

but yeah, if you like a versatile class a warrior might be just for you.

but know this. no matter if your’re a tanky/cc, a full zerker, a condi removing healing warrior. you’ll still be simply standing still and swinging your weapon in order to deal dmg…throw in a ocasional utility skill and then back to spamming attack skills.

My main is a guardian ,and i do have a warrior as well, i play different roles with both , in pve, dungeons ,fractals and wvwvw and i must say, im having more fun lvling my thief than i had when i was lvling the other 2.

Playing a thief requires a more active player, i miss that when playing my 2 heavy classes…

PS: am i the only person that rolled a thief after a warrior/guardian or?

this build wasn’t men’t for spvp, and i did mention that other classes (including warriors) can exceed in some parts that this build lacks.

a warrior can get 100% crit bonus just as a thief can, but a thief cant trade 20% crit dmg for getting tanky, having 20k+ hp, being able to regen 1k/2secs with out any requirements, the ability efficiently heal and remove conditions party wide and still deal good dmg….i don’t think any other class can?

also i can equip a warhorn and switch a trait that allows me to turn 1 condition into a boon (again party wide) and do it twice ( 2 warhorn skills) as well as giving everyone swiftness, removing imobilisating conditions, giving vigor, and applying weakness to the enemy group….

bottom line, all classes can get crazy crit chance, dmg, power, condition dmg/duration ,even healing power. but not all classes can get over 20khp and 3k+ armor without investing in toughness and vitality (that leaves less space for other stats) and have class specific skills and traits (those are the ones that mostly get buffed/nerfed ,not the gear/stats) that have the potential to deal crazy dmg, crazy heals,self/group support, healing and dmg mitigation..all at the same time-as a warrior can

notice it doesn’t use divinty or scolar runes, or full ascendant trinkets…but it still manages to have over 100% crt dmg, and over 3800atk points (when reaching 25power weapon stacks, and food)

it also has 22k hp and 2600 armor that is great considering you’re using a dps build.

the back draw about it is has a base of about 30 crit chance ,but you will be having fury up most of the time which results in 50% crit chance.

personally i think trading a little bit less crit chance for considerably more armor and health is a nice trade off.

also, having the trait that lets you rally with a 100% chance after you bring your self back from downed state with vengeance is just great

Personally ,when i get a class up to lvl 80 i try to find a “all around build” ,with few guide lines that i always follow.

Eventually i made this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIEQNAR5enkOk8YzDSBxEZABf4K0Moj5I9ANGw0A-jQyAYLBZCCMlBg+AlALiGbltIas6aMlbgUxK1SBcxyI-e

a warrior with
-3600 atk
-3100 armor
-23 000 hp
-30% crit chanse (50% cause of frequient fury)
-80% crit dmg
-30% boon duration

-A base reggen of about 520hp/s on average (healing signet + adrenal health)
-Shouts remove 1 condition (2 on shake it off, 4 in total)
-Shouts heal for 1600hp (4800hp every 20 seconds..)
-weapon swaps every 5 seconds
-supportive rezzer
-self sustained might

all that with 1 build on a single warrior….

I can deal great dmg, i feel tanky as hell, i get 1k health every 2 seconds by doing nothing, and at the same time im supporting my team with 4600healing every 20 seconds(some healing skills 6 from some professions heal less than that ) and heavy party wide condition removal….

all in 1 trait line, 1 set of gear…

I understand this isn’t a pure dps, or pure tank/support build where you specialize in 1 part and lack in another…but cmon, what other profession can have/beat this with 1 trait-gear set up?

And then i ask you, give me a reason to play profession such as a mezmer, thief, elementalist or something else besides “its more fun” or “everyone is playing a warrior, why not go outside the bandwagon” or " this class is far superior in xyz than a warrior with that build..nvm the lack of zxy that it has at the same time"

PS : This isn’t a rant about warriors being op, or warriors never getting the “right” amount of “right” nerfs.

My main is a guardian, and currently i’m lvling a thief, despite the warrior having the ability to exceed in more ways than a thief (just my opinion )

as far as i see it, thieves got pushed out from the safety of their stealth and the ability to dodge more often via vigor and some ablilities that grant you stamina, as well as the casting time on swords 2 skill.

we got some nice movement speed buff, quickness trait, improved base ini regen, and a improvement to heal on ini consumption.

add “medium” armor and hp pool to all that and i rely hope the new buffs will be enough to keep thieves strong enough in both pvp/wvw and pve.

patiance is “1 ini every 10 seconds”
and i dont think ive seen patiance being buffed to " 1 ini every 3 seconds"?

i tried that set up with the 1 ini every 10 seconds and the pre 10th patch of base ini regen and i can still get about 4- 5 HS in total before i run out of ini completely and drop out of stealth..

we have yet to try out different ways of "reviving " perma stealth after the patch…but even if we did a net has decided there will be no such thing as perma stealth as it is at the moment.

about the thiefs..

the way i see it is that thiefs can still use D/P combo for stacking some stealth ,but instead of using that combo for regening ini and some health, they will only be able to escape and run away from the fight.

The only solutions i can think of in the moment is to either build up on armor and health and some other means of survivability so we don’t have to rely on entering a long stealth (that wont be as effective as it used to be anyway) to escape a fight or finish off a fight.

that…or going some sort of condition build..like the one i saw on one of the devs livestream about thieves a few days ago

all around thief build?

in Thief

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

i know thiefs can have some great builds but a lot of them are very situational.

Im trying to figure out if there is a specific set up for traits that i can use on my build that lets me play different playstiles and roles by simply switching out on armor.

Example:

I have a main guardian, he has 3 sets of armor and 1 set of trinkets and only 1 trait set up.
My armor sets are as folows:
-full zerker (75%crit dmg,2900armor,17khp 25%crt hit)
-full cleric (1000healing power,3100armor,17k hp,90%boon duration)
-full pvt ( 60ish%crt dmg,25crt chanse, 3100armor,19k hp)

so i can actually go zerker with great dmg (for a guardian), full support/healing, and some sort of a tanky/dps/sustainable wvwvw guardian by only using 1 trait set up on all 3 armor sets.

so my question is, is it possible to have 1 trait set up for a thief that lets him have more than 1 role? (1 trait set up but more than 1 sets of armor and weapons)

or do i simply get several different sets of armor and weapons and reset my trait lines before i want to play a different style?

alternative suggestion for magic find

in Suggestions

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

Instead of totally removing the magic find from the gear them selfs, and only relying on food and account buffs why not:

-leave the magic find stat on gear, and call them “gear magic find”
-The total “gmf” on your gear gives a buff to you and your party that is in 600 range (something like soothing mist)
-While you get the 100% of your own “gmf” the rest of the party gets 33% of it (if you have 100 gmf on your gear, your party members will get 33gmf)

-GMF buff does not stack with each other, if there are 2 players with 100 gmf, those palayers will have 100 gmf, the rest of the team will have 33.

-The higher gmf buff dominates the lower one.
Lets say 2/5 players got gmf gear. player No1 has 200 gmf, player No2 has 100gmf.

player No1 will have 200gmf, player 2 will have 100 gmf, and the rest of the players will gain 33% gmf from the highest player with gmf gear (66gmf)

If you think high magic find by it self at the moment is op, just lower it…no need to remove it all.

I got this idea by looking at other little selfless things you can do in this game, rezzing another stranger, placing guild banners in high populated zones (the pavilion atm) the bonfire ,box o funs that can be used by everyone that trips over it.

even the dancing volume book can enable another player that doesn’t have it to dance with the player that bough it…

This way, those “weak, rejected, hated” players with full magic find gear will be welcomed cause they contribute to the whole team with their gear…

Vukorep.3081

so here’s a suggestion.

The living stories are ,imo, too good to simply discard after a couple weeks and never to be seen after. It also prevents “new” players or players that were just too busy at the time to log in and play the game to experience the living stories.

So my suggestion is to tell the asura to make up some sort of a time machine that requires specific charges to charge up.

when charged it offers any player to pick 1 living story that happened before in the past and play it for 1-5 days.

This would make players have another “quest” to gather specific items to charge up the machine, and being able to enjoy previous living stories.

This would also make players get those achivement points that they aren’t able to get anymore.

The main idea is to have a option for players to “relive” living stories, but to make it more challenging and interesting, i added a requirement of those specific charges.

interesting, so not only a warrior is able to deal a ton of damage, he also increases the attack of his group.

and considering he has the highest base hp among the classes, he also has the potential to take quite a beating during boss fights , reducing the pressure from his team mates. right?
