i dont understand how someone can compare dungeon runs and pvp arenas…do you gear the same in dungeons as you do in the arenas?
do you use the same weapons in arenas as you are in dungeons?
if so you might wanna check some other options your class is offering…
or you might just as well go full zerker in wvw too while youre at it… and then be surprised howcome a class with the highest armor rate and the highest health can go down in a millisecond….
i actually dont believe that we will get new types of weapons such as polearms, great axes, on land spears ect…..
i think classes will just get a “new” weapon that they couldn’t use before.
like a engineer using a hammer, thieves using rifle, mesmers using shields, rangers using staffs… none of them are new weapons in the game but instead new weapons for the classes.
not that i have anything against for adding new types of weapons…tho it would seem unfair for warriors getting a shiny new cool weapon and others get to play with old ones
oh, im sorry, i forgot to place /sarcasm under the " please nerf"
seriously guys, why so serious?
with just 1 skill (+2 for taging enemies so 3 in total) he single handed killed half ,if not more of a entire zerk in EoTM
Please nerf

from what i remember you talk to a norn in the camp,go and hunt down 1 out of 3 beasts, return back with the trophy to the norn, then you start off at the gate of the stairway up the hill to fight the giant wurm..
IF someone is already attacking the wurm the gate will be closed and youll wait with some npcs and other players for the people killing the wurm to finish him off.
Its the same thing in human starting zone. You wait at one side of the garrison while the other people kill the earth elemental boss on the other side of the garrison. Once the earth elemental is killed they go to the normal world, the gates of garrison open and youre free to progress.
Unless you are talking about something else that prevents you from progressing which you aren’t mentioning..i cant help you
My prediction would be that some npcs will treat other silvary npcs as corrupted wether they are or not.
People are also forgetting about the nightmare court ..which wont help the whole “OMG SILVARY ARE EVULLL!” thing.
also, there are other games that put you in "evil character "shoes.
While not exactly the same as gw2 PLOT TWIST, THE WHOLE PLAYABLE RACE IS EVIL thing.. there are other games that have 2 or more races that are at war at eachother and they treat eachother as the bad guys and the npcs of the opposing race will kill you on sight… stuff like wow did with aliance vs horde, aion , wildstar, allods…anything that has a war against 2 opposite races/factions..
1- You gain massive amounts of experiences by exploring the world. This means finding points of interests, waypoints, vistas, and doing heart “quests”. You should also pitch in any event you find nearby, they normally dont take that long to finish but they give you a large boost to your exp.
You may also want to buy cheep (5 copper cheep.)Food and maitainence oils. They will grant you a total of 20-25% exp boost on kills. Monsters that live longer in the world grant extra bonus exp. This means you should check the roads that are not close to events ,points of interests and such. Example would be killing underwater mobs. Another one should be killing passive mobs. Most people ignore them cause they dont go attack you first.
The differences on this would be : Centaur kill =200 exp,Passive fish/boar= 200+450exp
Now add 20% more from your super cheep food…it all adds up nicely
You may also want to do daily achievements, they give you extra exp. Crafting gives a TON of exp as well…but it costs a investment in time, crit crafting boosters, money and materials.
Also, dungeons. Dungeons will most likely lvl you up instantly every time you finish a path
2. Whenever you feel like it. Personally i would combine it with the above mentioned food exp boosters, and use it when you decide to fully explore a brand new zone that is around your level. Remember to kill those passive/underground/rarely visited mobs
3. Mesmers are a utility class mostly. This means they offer the best tricks in a team. This also means your utlity skills and weapon skills may vary depending on the situation.
You also MUST understand that gw2 has various aspects of the game, and you MUST adapt your class, weapons and gear stats to that aspect. Otherwise other people might ignore you,and hate you for not being “optimal” or at least normally prepared for the content ahead of you.
In general exploring PvE,anything works, you can do whatever. Tho teleportions, swiftness and leaps and lots of damage in short time is good to have. This will make you explore the world and kill stuff faster.
In dungeons Full zerker, fury, might, fire fields, blast finishers, ice bows, reflections and stealth is great. You MUST adapt to this aspect of the game in some of the ways i just mentioned, otherwise you will not contribute to your dungeon party and people will kick you. And no, healing builds and tanky armor sets does not contribute to the dungeon.
Im sorry, but as hard and dumb this might seem to you, its just how dungeons work.
WvW Depends on weather you will be solo roaming vs other roamers, roaming to cap camps, folowing the zerk or leading the zerk
PvP Depends on what class ,and what role you will play in a match. Its also mostly about how you actually use the build in the match rather than picking one from the web and going all PvE mode inside a match…
4. Use Waypoing, have permanent switness boon, or use a utility skill/trait that gives permanent 25% running speed. As a mesmer i use Superior runes of Centaur. They are super cheep, give nice amount of power ,and with my super short CD healing skills i can have permanent swiftness. Teleporting skills also are a plus
5. You will level up much faster if you solo and follow your own pace. While exploring zones you gain exp for exploring points, you dont need a party for that, and waiting for others might slow you down. As for heart quests you dont share your progressions if you are in a party (i think?) which means you will again, have to wait for someone to finish it before you can continue on.
Dungeons are a different thing, a party is a must. Soloing a dungeon is also possible….but takes waaay too much time..and the rewards are the same.
However i will say that exploring with a friend or two might be more fun than soloing THE ENTIRE WORLD… and this is a mmOrpG…its a game…its supposed to be fun, and its a online one, so its supposed to be played with other people
how did they buy the game in the first place if they dont have access to credit cards….?
currently 100gems is around 14-17 gold (depending on the hour) i can hardly believe making 100 gems be around 30 gold a win for everyone.
Again, im well aware of the conviniences that having such item in the gem store can be, but it wont be without a massive influence on gold→gem conversion rates which will never go back to “normal”, and can only go higher
…PLEASE dont place it in the gem store….
I understand they predict a huge income in revenue this year, and there fore i assume they will sell the content of Heart of Thorns..(as a expansion key or boxed expansion or whatever the content of HoT might be)
But PLEASE dont place it in the gem store….
I understand how convinient it might be for some players who cant buy it or something so they can buy it with in game gold…but placing THAT kind of content for sale in the gem store will make a catastrophic effect on the gold->gem conversion ratio
Dont even place it in the gem store after a year or something…not even for a special promotion for 24hours ..please just leave it out
yep, the world is crumbling ,way points are dying, forts are getting crushed, people are getting slaughtered but hey, i wanna go play a game in a virtual world. Im sure traherne ,logan, marjory and all the other gang can do just fiiiine without me
how about making a mega boss without fixed, predictable animations.
things like jormag,shatterer,tequatl.
Why not make a huge powerfull boss such as tequatl, and turn it into a legendary mob.
the one that can move freely around the map, target freely players , go full zerker on US the players and just wreck everything in his path with a tail swipe.
no more siting under his feet and full dps 1111, no more siting comfy at turrets.
if you wanna dps it you gotta run after it and catch it, set up long range siedges that can get destroyed if they attract the mobs attention too much, set up large snare traps to slow it down so we can dps it harder idk..think of something.
i assume its going to be something like " sylvari are more prone to be corrupted by modremoth…but ofc,not all of them"
There will be races, leaders and NPCs that will ignore the "not all of them " part and they will start attacking them.
Nightmare court isnt helping much with the problem either.
As for sylvari player characters i expect the living world story instances and such seeing you in a different way than before (SOME, maybe a few only npcs in the overworld will look at you differently with a few bad dialogues..but i doubt youll be fighting pact soldiers, seraph and peacemakers ..)
as far as i understood..i could get recognized only by the amount of my ap?
meh…not much of a hero character now is it?
Unless AP becomes character bound….
despite there are not many things to do to PROGRESS your character besides leveling to lv 80, getting a full exotic gear set and learning all skills and traits… i still find a ton of things to do in guild wars.
-exploring the world
-getting another set of gear besides zerkers
-pvp daily achievements (or more pvp if i wish to progress the reward tracks faster)
-collecting “rare” items such as mawdrey, home instance nods (not the gem store ones, the meta achievement ones)
-getting gold in various ways (fliping, dungeons, meta boss fights, selling stuff)
-getting ascended gear so you can infuse them and challenge your self in fractals
-guild missions
-wvw
-making a alt
-plenty more things to do
Gw2 is just not that kind of game where you focus on character progression only, where you keep leveling for ages and doing various stuff over and over to get the “best” gear in the game..so you can do it all over again on a alt,or when a new content gets released
when it comes to a guild wars 2 expansion most people i see are limited in thinking that it can only be achieved by releasing a whole new separate continent..mainly cantha (just cause gw1 did it in that order…even tho elona is much closer to tyria)
But why cant the new gw2 expansion be “unlocking” all of the rest of tyria which is currently locked?
the whole region north of divinitys reach, west part of the zone, fire island chains, crystal desert, some parts of the shiverpeaks, even some parts of ascalon is locked.
those are huuuuge parts of the map that we currently have that we dont have access to.
Not to mention the possibility of adding new pvp maps, pvp game modes, or even something new in wvw.
Theres so much more gw2 can add in their own expansion content wise than what someone one would normally expect form a more "traditional " expansion with a new lvl cap, new races and classes and skills and such….
please dont make them tradable… people will overprice them and abuse it as a new way of “power” leveling.
You can use it on new chars for key farming
or on a alt
if you are lvl 75 and you only have a few tomes it can be used as a boost to lvl 80 like a finishing rush.
ToK when used on a lvl 80 give you a skill point. Just like that scroll we keep getnig from champ boxes…but nobody seems to be complaining about those now
some older players already have a bunch of tomes of knowledge siting in their banks. They would just instantly pop to the max lvl that way.
New level cap should also mean new zones ,at least 2 that will give us content for those new levels.Besides fun and having a sense of “completion” there is no point in going in such zones unless living story is done there. Since 100% world completion doesnt apply to new zones.
Also fractals should get a update with that as well. no challenge in killing mobs that are 5-20 lvls under you..
just asked this on guild chat, someone recommended infusing my gear to be able to do harder fractals.
as for dungeons….its a nice idea but in my eyes its kinda pointless seeing how dungeons work nowdays
Besides knowing your class and recognizing your enemies in pvp, is there any possible way to become the “best” in something that isnt pvp related?
Getting 1-2 sets of exotic armor with a couple of weapons with “perfect” runes and sigils that you use in dungeons and exploring the pve world at lvl 80 doesn’t seem to be much of a problem.
I cant see any possible way of becoming better than the next guy i encounter in the world.
I could get ascended armor and legendary weapons…but that only increases my stats slightly more than the one with exotic gear.
Personally i can only see numerous ways of making my character “complete”.
Finish all story missions, finish all achievements possible, get them home instance nodes, get the most used armor/weapon sets + a dungeon ascended/legendary set, get the max pvp rank, do all pvp rewards once, titles…minipets that arent gem store related….100% world completion..
Keep collecting all daily rewards you can (such as wintersday daily achievements laurel, gathering nodes from home instances, dungeon rewards, megaboss events
There are a ton of things to do in gw2 but i just cant seem to think of anything that will make me a better character ,or a better player than the other guy.
Any ideas?
just because you can tick a box so others cant see your gear, the people that want to check your gear will automatically assume you are hiding crappy gear behind it…and treat you differently.
The only place i can think off where gear inspecting would be mostly used would be in dungeons where people expect others to go full zerkers ( Its not about the meta, its just how dungeons work. People want to do them asap to claim the rewards and not spend 1h at ac path 2…)
adjust your screen brightness, ,read the forums in a lit room, and don’t read it in your bed with the lights off on your laptop…..
doesn’t a warrior have enough of weapons available already?
I see a warrior as the ultimate melee character in this current game.
That being said, i don’t think more ranged weapons would suit him well.
Id say more 2h weapons such as 2h great axe, or a pole arm, or a halberd. Or something completely different and original and unsuspected like a Star trek kligon bat’leth which is a 2h weapon at first but can be separated into 2 smaller pieces for faster and more precise attacks.
I understand Warriors somewhat lack the condition weapon options beside bleeds on swords and a ocasional torment if going dual sword. But again, I see warriors as these tall heavy armored, strong, best health in the game, regenerating health, swift, leaping, charging destroyer machines…
i can agree somewhat with the OP
This also reminded me of the ambient and the sound of wintersday in gw1
Was standing in ascalon, near avatar of dwayna.
The time was late, a cold winters night ,surounded by snow (real snow….) the soothing sound of dwayna….could even see my breath…
and now in gw2? … artificial snow produced by noisy asura machines with a giant golem shaped blimp hovering above divinitys reach…thats ..it…
Instead of thinking of adding things from gw1 into gw2 (that have been mentioned for yeeears) why not just play gw1 instead?
I play gw1 almost just as much as gw2. In fact, i have a “daily” routine in gw2 that i can dash trough in a hour or two and then continue to play gw1 normaly.
I also wanted to post some rediculous (imo) suggestions that you mentioned here:
1) adding NPC heroes/henchmen that follow you and fight with you
Henchmen and heroes were needed in gw1 because the entire game required you to play in some sort of a party. Gw2 is a real mmo, go make friends and play around with them. I sure it would be more interesting and memorable if you adventure with a friend than with a NPC that attacks once per 5 seconds….
2) Hardcore mode for dungeons that makes the enemies higher lvl than you and use more abilities
This isnt “hard core” at all… everyone would still be doing the same thing. Full zerk, skip area, buff, stack in corner and ratatata at boss.
Except you would be glancing your strikes cause the enemy is higher lvl than you…
And why should there be a need of hard core mode in order to add new abilities to mobs and bosses? Isnt that needed anyways for the boring :attack once per 5 second, knock back, 1 bleed…cripple attacks mobs normally have ?
3) Vanquishing a personal instance of a world zone
What for!? what possible reward would you want to go for in order to do 100% map completion AGAIN,but this time you have to kill everything that moves…and do all the events i assume? even tequatl!?
Oh, you think having 5 party members would solve everything?
4) More gw1 skills/combat/trait system/attribute points, Dual classes system
gw2 has a completely different and very simple combat mechanics, and it is paired up with a even simpler gear/stats mechanic. Please deal with it.
Gw1 has a very complex skill /build system that often requires you to use it with other members of your party (people mostly solo in gw2 anyway…) You also use your planed and hand made party build against groups of mobs that also use those same skills.
What would you achieve if you had a even more complex and deeper build/combat mechanic from gw1 in gw2 if you are facing 1 ettin at a time (cause you rarely see groups of mobs in gw2) that can smash the ground for aoe, and hit his club for a frontal knock down every 10 seconds (with around 1-2 seconds charging up animation at which time you can just walk behind him or move away..or dodge it completely anyway)
Why the need of a more complex combat system if you are just going full zerker gear GS warrior that balls up what enemies he can find and just 100 blades them in 1 shot….
All gw2 can add from gw1 has been already added in one way or the other.(mostly done differently than in gw1…)
-Yearly BD presents for characters, you get either a unique tonic, or a random mini from the yearly pack
In gw2 everyone gets queen jenna for first year, for 2nd year they get a title and a cake rifle…
-Tonics that are cool to use ,and even tonics that transform you into a diferent character that you can play in combat
In gw2 most all tonics are for costume brawl, and since they remove your skills its not encuraged to be used outside towns..
-guild capes
We got guild armor and weapons that have a tiny guild emblem on them…i dont remember seeing those on anyone in my 2 years of playing
-guild halls
We got player home instances…that we visit for our city exploration and our daily node mining…..i know they also “evolve” and more npcs are added to the instance as you do events and story missions….but nobody rly seems to bother much with that….
-Content
Gw1 had expansions
gw2 has living story, which is fine by me. I get new content ,new updates, patches, changes, sometimes a new zone. But lets face it. LS will never make a impact as a expansion can…well..the “traditional” meaning of a expansion…
Point of no return. The wild guess game.
here goes! -takes a deep breath-
The player is busy playing with mysteries and caithe and glynths egg and whatever, meanwhile those same events separate the destiny’s edge 2.0 and The pact pushes them slefs ahead of time into the final confrotation against modremoth.
While some heroes are busy fighting Shadow of the dragon, the pack is getting rekt by modremoth.
Soon modremoth will prevail, the entire tyria gets tangled up in vines and everything dies.
Tyria is no more
Whats left of the “world” flees over seas into cantha as they crossed the point of no return DUN DUN DUUUUUN.
In short: We fail, Modremoth wins, Tyria gets destroyed, we go to cantha or whatever
First of all (and i keep repeating this all the time since i still see people not realizing this) I need you to realize that gw2 has different aspects of the game, that you, your class and maybe your team need to adapt towards with the build you are using.
Generally speaking:
-Pve exploring and leveling: anything works and is viable here…
-Dungeons: Might, fury, zerker gear, vulnerability is what you need, always at all times
-Pvp: depends on class and on role you wish to do in a match (specially when you create a team of 5 players)
-WvW: Depends if you are roaming alone, following a zerg, or commanding the zerg.
Now that you hopefully realize this there isnt much to say when we talk about warriors in dungeons (or any other class)
In dungeons you look for ways to deal a ton of damage in short amount of time, and maybe a few quick ways to “support” your team by applying fire fields, blasting them, applying might to party members, applying vulnerability to the boss.
One of the “meta” build would recommend using GS+ axe/mace
axe is a great weapon for damage, its skill No1 deals more damage than a gs 1.
With Axe/mace they can stack 14 stacks of vulnerability, they are also able to aoe knock down everything for 2 seconds and spam 1 for high damage (pay attention to your tripple chops final chop. a lot of players inerupt that part by casting another skill)
then switch to gs and spam 100 blades for tons of burst damage, followed by a cornered whirlwind, a few 1’s for further vulnerability stacks and then back to axe.
Longbow in dungeons i suppose is for pulling or holding a long lasting large fire fields that you or other players can blast for tons of might stacks.
If you go phalanx strength trait might stacks wont be any problem for the entire party…
Using sigils of might (i think its might?) when you swap between your gs and axe will grant you some extra might stacks as well
nobody thinks how this will increase the dmg output by 66%?
why not make Rush have the effects of Rush from gw1?
It was a adrenal skill that costed 4 adrenaline points and it gaved the user a loooong 25%speed boost.
In gw2 it could give swiftness for 5-10-15 seconds based on how high your adrenaline bar is .
This way it can still be somehow used for running away, or to chase down the foe that is running away.
It can only be used in combat cause of the adrenaline requirement (just like in gw1) ,unless you use the healing skill that pumps up your adrenaline.
mesmers great sword and focus pulling off the cliff trick.
Reducing the enemy’s health just enough so when they follow you when you jump off the cliff they die and you dont.
Pulling enemies from the walls and towers.
Playing a full regen warrior or a guardian and /dance in front of the upscale’d enemy that will never be able to kill you
id assume we wouldn’t be able to use the 2ndary traits
id also assume that my heavy armored staff wielding guardian would have 25 skills when guard/ele…thenswitching to scepter focus with another 25 skills?
i dont know about new weapons but i would love to see some new skins added to the game
1) various skins of the same weapon→but with better appearance for specific classes
example: A prismatic staff for a ele, a skull staff for necro, and a shiny crystal ank on top of the staff for guardians that lights up as you spam 1
2)Add gw1 skins into gw2 ! It was super cool to be able to equip a scepter/focus with different styles that says “i am a necromancer and i wield this claw scepter and a skull focus”
i like water combat as i lvl up.
Since nobody goes underwater the mobs linger for a long time.
So when i come and kill them i get a large amount of bonus exp
-explore the world 1 more time by finding and finishing all jumping puzzles.
-Find and use all diving goggles
-Get collection achievements (shouldnt be THAT hard to get those rare expencive exotics and ascended armor since you have aaaalll 16 legendaries a looong time a go now shouldnt it?…)
-Get all the “unique” items such as mawdrey
-Go for titles
-Do all dungeon paths in order
-Join a guild, chill, help others out, make up and start your own guild events such as
-Commanding a wvw guild zerk
-Tpvp
-guild mates vs guild mates pvp
-guild pvp tournament with kitten prize
-Daily dungeon guild sweep
not if the warrior has 30k+hp :P
First i would like you to know that in this game there are many aspects of the game that require different builds ,gears and tactics from players. And unless players adapt to it they will be frustrated and dissapointed..and thats not fun…
Let me explain it a bit further by saying that Dungeons sometimes prefer some classes over the others, they also require you to go full zerker and to know the dungeon and to know how to dodge.
Spvp has its own meta going on, while you can simply pick up a meta build from a web page, it is up to you to know how and when to use your abilities in a match.
WvW has a place for everyone, but you still need to adapt if you wanna catch up with the zerg, get your place on sieges, or be able to roam around dissrupting caravans ,caping small camps and killing other roamers…and escaping enemy zerks.
As for general PvE,exploring and leveling anything works here. Any gear, any weapon, anything that you like and enjoying to play (tho some people like to go full zerker so they can kill stuff faster and thus level faster.)
Now when all that is said and understood this is my “overall” build for pve and dungeons:
This is what i use for most pve and dungeons (but not in wvw cause that is a complete different aspect of the game)
I slightly modified the build in the link to be better suited for solo pve with the ability to “support” everyone around you in events with Phalanx strength trait.
I use strength runes but as mentioned before hoelbrak runes is a cheeper alternative.
I use sword/warhorn when i wanna run around faster as it provides me with a additional leap.(i have gs wirlwind, dash, warhorn charge and sword leap) but i use a axe when i know im staying in a area longer as the axe simply gives more dmg.
When in dungeons i switch 2 traits:
-in Arms i switch Furious speed rending strikes to apply additional voulnerability to my targets as i crit a lot.
-in Tactics i switch from Quick breathing to Empower allies (unless the dungeon,or dungeon parts require me to have a condi clense)
I know i could go 4 into Strength and get myself Slashing power for a extra 10% gs dmg, and great fortitude for a little bit more health…but as i said, this is made mostly for roaming around the pve world and exploring. so having a 25% permanent speed boost is great.
Sweet revenge is used for those bad moments when you simply get stuck in a event and there is nobody around to help you. so you rally your self with vengeance and kill 1 mob to get back out there.
Note that the last 3 grandmaster tactic traits are quite powerful and that you can only have 1 at a time. Switching to vigorous shouts and equiping FGJ, SIF and OMM will give you quite a healing punch ever 20-25 second (also to your allies and npcs around you)
Inspiring battle starndards turns all of your banners into engineers healing turret, in fact, it turns them into a movable healing turret. While only 1 banner would be sufficient to stack permanent regen having 3 up covers more people and a larger area.
While healing and regen isnt that important i still love to switch around it and play with those
well…in case you didnt know we know what the whole world of tyria (tyria the planet) looks like.
Why are people so focused on cantha all the time?
Elona is closer, and geographically its closer to tyria (the continent we are playing currently on) than cantha is.
Another note, there are plenty zones here on tyria in gw2 that havent been “unlocked” as they are in gw1. Such as the fire island chain, more of ascalon and the crystal desert (which is connected to desolation and thus elona again)
Again, just because Gw1 went prophecies (tyria) →factions (cantha)→ Nightfall (elona) doesnt mean gw2 is restricted within that chain of content as well..
As far as it goes gw2 next continent could be a new continent far over to the west ,over the endless sea. or far north, even norther than eye of the north into the tundra lands….
its obsidian armor, from fow
i did some math, and with the special rebreather and 3 minipets in pocket i have about 12 days left to finish 2 wintersday pvp reward tracks for my last 2 minipets.
sooo i need to finish 1 track every 6 days.
i dont see anything grindy in wintersday events..
You can get the whole meta chivements within a few days of normal gameplay (assuming the gameplay you do is wintersday events)
The fact that all of the events are repeatable doesnt make them grindy either.
If you wish to get a boat load of gifts then you will have to grind something over and over and over again. But thats one of the definition of grinding…doing the same thing over and over to get more rewards…
There are plenty of people who didnt get to experience the wintersday event last time so its all quite new for them.
So far ive done the meta achievement, got my wintersday weapon collection up, a mini skritta claws, and ive been doing all daily wintersday achievement within 15minutes or less for the laurels.
Ive also casually pvped (just enough to get all my pvp daily achievements→3-4 games..)
to get the special rebreather from the reward track.
The ONLY thing im FORCING my self to do and to grind is to do at least 2.6 parts of wintersday pvp reward track every day untill wintersday ends. Im doing this so i can get all the minipets.
And i personally dont think playing pvp is grindy since i look at each match as a diferent separate game. And it can be fun to play with your guildmates
you have to understand that you wear the weakest type of armor in the game, which you are using with a melee weapon such as a sword.
you must either learn how to dodge attacks, control your enemies with roots dazes and interupts, and use your sword skill 2 for you to become distorted (cant be damaged)
You might also want to upgrade your armor up to your level specially your weapons.
Also dont be afraid of using your F1-4 skills, there are many ways for you to quickly get 3 illusious out and shatter them all up in a large group of monsters to deal a lot of damage. Tho personally i use that mostly to finish them off.
You get stronger as you level up of course, every class does.
But even as a lvl 80 mesmer you will still be a light type armor class that can use melee attacks.
Also, mesmers are one of the harder classes to play (its not that hard..but its deff not as noob friendly as some other classes )
Noob friendly classes such as warrior or guardian have some sort of permanent running speed boost, permanent health regeneration as well as boons that give them regeneration and have spamable skills that lets them deal damage to more than 1 target.
Mesmers dont have a permanent movement boost, they dont have a permanent regeneration and they can barely gain health without using their healing skill.
They also have a harder time continuously attacking a larger group of monsters.
Saying that, mesmers do have a lot of utility other classes dont have such as reflection, stealth, creating portals, party wide stun breakers and condition clense (great for dungeons and pvp ) just to name a few.
(edited by Vukorep.3081)
people need to understand this game has a lot of aspects, and you need to gear up and use appropriate weapons and traits in order to be efficient and more rewarded for doing stuff in that aspect of the game.
Dungeons have their own challenges ,problems and needs you must face and adapt in order to make a dungeon run simple, clean and fast (1-2 fail is fine..but rezzing hodgings over and over and over again cause you cant kill the gravelings burrows fast enough and keep them away from him is another thing)
Spvp not only requires a specific build that completes a role ,it also depends on you to know how to use it well, to recognize situations and position your self somewhere
wvw also requires specific gear in order to survive the enemy zerg and in order to give something to your own zerg.
As for general pve exploring and doing events pretty much anything works. Its just better if you can have some sort of speed boost and aoe attacks to tag mobs with
Knowing this you have to ask your self what can your class do in those aspects of the game.
necro is a master of darkness, there for it has deathshroud….
when i got that box i picked one for warriors even tho im a mesmer….
i thought….maybe ill get some of them popular warrior exotics and make a fortune!
i got a shoe….that i could only salvage…
at least it gave me 3 ectos!
atm im in the phase of exploring the world
naturally swiftness and movement skills are needed here.
i use sup runes of centaur with the healing mantra skill.
i use blink, decoy and that signet that gives you a random boon every 10 seconds.
i use s/f +gs as weapons.
Depending on the situation, if i end up in a group event or such i switch between time warp and mass invisibility.
i also use veil, and torch to stack some invisibility in cases such as looting a chest guarded by a strong mob.
portal is nice, but also situational . i shout i got a portal ready whenever i finish a jp just to get some people get it as well
It’s difficult to imagine people actually fall for scams like what’s described here. Obviously Gaile is posting this for a reason but… it’s just mind boggling tbh. Like, idk.
ever heard of the nigerian prince?
sooo the wintersday event is giving you a soooo many rewards that you broke your mouse?
why is that a bad thing?
In gw 1 i farmed sooo many wintersday gifts and i got sooo many snowman tonics (that i wanted to use all cause of my party animal title) and you dont see me complaining
Also if you dont like the junk the gifts you are clicking are giving you sell the gifts for around kitten each…
My conclusion of wintersday event in 2015 is :
-scavenger hunt was fun
-got a new home instanced xmass tree nod
-got a item that eats imperial shards and gives me rewards ( so far just random greens and 1 unidentified red dye that i sold for 8 gold)
-tons of wintersday giant gifts i sold on tp
-doing daily wintersday achievement got me a lot of laurels
-i FINALLY finished wintersday JP…take that game!
-got me kinda into pvp, and it rewarded me with 1 minipet and a special rebreather
-if i continue with my pvp schedule ill get 3 more minipets before wintersday ends, getting 5/5 minipets +1 mini skritta claws
it wouldnt me much of a rp if youd do it in a single isolated room with 5 players now would it?
Here are my suggestions :
1) if less than 6 RP players band up together in party and use party chat
2) if more than 5 players tag up and create a squad, squad chat can have a lot more people inside
3) use the /me emotes inside the said chat with * xyz * or " xyz "
This way roleplayers can enjoy their roleplaying and they wont bother people such as OP.
At most there will be a commander with a few people dancing around and …doing NORMAL emotes such as waving and laughing .
I finally decided to start working on a legendary.
I took a good look at all the materials needed to craft one and i decided the best choice is to start off by farming gold to buy a precursor. Cause it seemed the more i delay it the higher the prices of precursors will go.
Also i think having one in my hands will motivate me more to gather other materials as well.
Now i have around 40% of gold needed to buy the precursor from the tp. Its more gold than i had ever before in the last 2 years…
At this point i started noticing that a lot of cool weapons, skins and other stuff is available for me to buy with only 40% gold worth of a precursor…
I did some math and if i would buy a precursor and all the t6 mats form the tp id spend around 1300gold on the legendary…
On the other hand it only takes around 1017 gold to buy a full set of “etheral” weapons (whisper blade, the anomaly, abyssal scepter ect) for my mesmer…
Im just not sure if a legendary is worth it anymore seeing how many other cool stuff i can buy with the same amount of a legendary (and the one im after is pretty cheep comparing to other legendaries)
What do you people think?
Should i focus on slowly working towards my legendary or slowly work on getting all the other stuff i want my char to have?
Races:
Norn: everything is just fine here with me, except the fact that if i make a awesome looking tall strong norn warrior or a cool looking hunter… the tallness of the character effects their running animation and it just looks like they barely move their legs at all (specially during combat…)
Human: im used to playing human, in gw1 and in gw2, and in any other game. I try to make my human characters look good with its biography and class choice and its not as hard as it seems.
Charr: As mentioned, they seem too hunchbacky. They are also one of the tallest races and this effects the running animation too much for me…
Asura: unless im going for something small ,tiny and cute asura girl with a quaggan fuzzy hat…. or using a distinctive asura culture armor set my asura wont be noticed by other players
Sylvari: I accepted the race with wide open arms, their background and story and looks are amaizing. But they dont shine untill you put some cultural armor/weaponsor twighlight arbor gear. Otherwise they will look just like any other human…with a woody head.
A sylvari warrior caught my eye the other day since he was wearing some sort of bare chest armor. Was interesting to see a bulky strong sylvari showing off his chest. youd expect some biceps and muscles but there are none
Classes:
Elementalists: Love them, so diverse, so active, so mobile,so versitile, love them.
Mesmers: Im manly enough to play a PURPLE (not pink) class, recently i started leveling one and i love it more than my main ele now
Necromancer: Underated class. Can exceed in dps, condi, tankyness, and even healing..but only if he focuses on 1 thing at a time. Minion mastery is fun for me and ugly minions should be ugly…they are undead and made out from rotting corpses…
Engineers: Love them, so diverse, so versitile…but i prefer magic over steampunk gadgets n stuff. Also using utlity kits skills replaces your epic looking weapons and back gear
Rangers: Pretty fun class to play, makes exploring the world even more interesting as you find new pets . Having a pet active 90 % of the time, even if not in combat can be a bit wierd. also i cant help but to think this class is all about dps…i like to have some versitality.
Thiefs: Never gets boring with this one. While playing it i constantly adapt to the situation at hand. Changing weapons, utility skills, approaching with a different engagement into combat, trying out new combos. Super mobile class and i just love to stealth and steal the end jumping puzzle chest right in front of that giant champion that is guarding it The bad side is that sometimes it feels like the class is all about dps, condi, and the only support it can give is stealthing other players and maybe amplifying their attacks with venoms.
Warrior: while the class is great at doing dps, condi, tanking, supporting with healing shouts, condi removal, blast finishers as well as banners that increase everyones stats and applies permanent regeneration…. it can also rezz dead npcs and downed allies as well as share a whole ton of might stacks with phalanax trait.
The class is versatile indeed….however to me it sometimes feel like my character is a giant building that applies dmg or supportive effects to things around it….
Guardians: My first main class. Has a farming stick, almost permanent swiftness, tanky as heck, supportive utility skills. but at one point it just gets old for some reason…As if its abilities exceed in quality, but lack in quantity .
