as mentioned, there is a personal golem used in the haloween event for long distance communication, tho it could be only one way…

also, in divinity reach at the ebon hawk asura gate we hear how kitten expencive it would be transporting a caravan trough a asura GATE..yet alone on a personal waypoint.

speaking of personal waypoints….being personal it would suggest only being used by 1 person at a time.

rewards that you can acquire tons of times dont require charges

Also, (i think) SKINS that you have in your bags that you apply directly on your gear doesnt need charges as well.

skins that arent items from your bag such as wardrobe skins you unlocked previously do require charges

you get multiple amounts of gifts of exploration, so you can get more than 2 legendaries

you can switch between different classes that your dungeon/fractal/wvw party needs

you get to experience new classes, which is always fun unless you seriously don’t like playing the class.

You get to learn tricks from other classes so you can get more prepared when facing those classes in pvp/wvw

Level scaling in PVE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Vukorep.3081

a downscaled lvl 80 is still waaaay more stronger than a lvl 10 character..with blue gear that has only 1 stat…

no matter how you look at it, unless youre playing a lvl 80 character with lvl 10 merchant gear and no accessories in queensdale you are always stronger than a lvl 10 character.

Playing a lvl 80 character with exotics in queensdale isnt the same as playing a lvl 80 character with blue gear in queensdale, and certainly not the same as being lvl 15.

You do get downscaled, your BASE stats will get downscaled, but you still get partial stats of your lvl 80 gear.

Another thing, you said that if you lvl up you want to get stronger, you do get stornger cause you do get to kick higher lvl monsters…and participate in higher lvl content

people will still stack might via fire field+blast finishers as long as they give out mights.

If you remove that and add ..idk… fury instead of might then more people will make even more warriors who will be the only class that can spread might to them selfs and give might to others around them

what big hits are we talking about?

I had more fun playing in silverwastes with my full cleric elementalist throwing ice bows at allies as well as constantly healing them for 2-3k with regeneration . and not to mention condi clenses.

not saying a party or a zerk needs to be full of those kinds of builds but it does seem to have a effect.

and ofc, in other aspects of the game that require me to wear zerk gear i go zerk gear

Reasonably Obtainable Gear??

if your going for berzerker warrior then you should get your self berzerker draconic armor form TP (or simply craft it your self)

They normally cost around 5-7 G per peace (depending if you instant buy it or preorder)

Another thing is to go for dungeon armor, you gain money while your gathering the dungeon tokens (for accessories) and you get a full cool looking armor aswell

A 3rd option would be to simply buy a RARE quality zerker armor set…its cheeper and not a lot of people realize it but it works quite well.
But rare gear might not be the thing for you considering you wanna gear your warrior up and leave it…

Oh , another thing would be buying gear from wvw…tho you might not have the tokens for it..idk

lvling all craftings to 400

in Crafting

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

so i finally decided the character i wanna lvl all craftings up to lvl 400 ( a few for 500 for my ascended armor and such)

Normally as i play with all my characters i gather everything, all wood plants and ore.
I also salvage all gear that i cant sell for a reasonable price on TP

This made me make my own guild with 2/3 storage’s half full with various materials

So now when i want to lvl all crafting professions i checked a web page and it said id need around 100-120 gold for all (if i were to buy the mats off the TP)

The guide also mentions that its simply normal ,and its worth just buying the mats off the tp and instantly craft the things needed to lvl the crafting professions.

I know how to lvl up crafting professions (with the insignias and armor/weapon parts)
So my question is:

Should i craft by using my own materials, or should i simply sell them all and instantly buy all the items i need to craft from TP?

Also, if i were to buy the things off the tp, do you think the 100-120 G from the guide refers to getting the materials from the TP by buy order, or instant buying?

So i was wondering, in season 1 we had to walk up to a place with a shiny green star and start the living story (story). Just as we still do with our personal story.

Do we access LSs2 episodes only trough our hero panel?

I guess what im trying to ask is, is the story separated from its living story content?

Can i enjoy silverwastes first, and do the story episodes later?

i wasnt around when dry tops came, but did dry tops stayed the same after the living story episode was done?

Cause the warmaster in silverwaste keeps saying we need to hold our ground in the 4 keeps before we can strike mordremoth from air…

I wish to finish doing everything in silverwastes before spending time on the episodes so that i wont regret not exploring/doing all achivements from the map as it might change later?

think about it.

We used to often come into towns ,look around what the little merchant has for sale.
We bought 3 gathering tools, and as we leveled up we were buying stronger tools.

We were also buying salvage kits, personally i used to buy the normal ones, and sometimes the best ones if i wanted to salvage a specific rune/ sigil.

We also went and payed some money for our precious armor to be fixed

However… it all change when the black lion trade company nation arrived…

Suddenly, people bought permanent unlimited gathering tools, and with the new tweak on their Silver-Fed Salvage-o-Matic making it cost 1copper LESS than the ones we buy off the merchant… 1 COPPER CHEEPER??

Obviously it was a slap in the face to all little merchants trying to get a few coppers to feed their kids, and buy a new dress to their wives/husbands.

Now that EEEVERYONE has a permanent set of tools and a permanent unlimited use of slavages nobody needs to go to a merchant!!

We have to do something about this guys! Boycott unlimited use tools!!

dps ele in zergy wvw

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

Normally i go with clerics gear whenever i go raiding wvw with my guild/alliance (yes we actually have a wvw alliance between a couple of guilds )

and i was focusing on laying down statics, walls, calling water fields up front so the zerg can be prepared and blast the hell out of it for full hp return for the entire zerg.

And there are a few other elementalists that do the same (each separated in their own parties)

But sometimes the commander asks for ranged classes to take down arrow carts, cannons, oils on walls… and it seems to go down very slowly even with my meteor shower and lava font…

I remember one time defending bay, i was on my arrow cart and ive seen a lonely staff ele coming closer, casting a single meteor shower that simply destroyed a few of our sieges as well downed a few of my members..

So im asking is a full dps staff ele viable in a zerg? is he tough enough to survive in a zerg vs zerg fight?

char have no gods, the flame legions were worshiping titans from gw1….

Sylvari have the dream from the pale tree, which is not a deity on it self….

Norn have the spirits….also not gods, and the humans look at all of them as melandru

Asura have the eternal alchemy, and if you pay attention (even in gw1) there are references that say that the dragons..and even the human gods are part of the eternal alchemy….

It all comes down that asuras were right with their eternal alchemy thing

and dont get me started on krait gods and other non playable races…

i just dont see the poing in the whole god thing you were saying…

As for making the 3 orders compete against each other like kurzick and luxons is ridiculous… they were never against each other, in fact they joined together and made “the pact”….

Even if we added some new factions/orders so we would end up with something like luxon/kurzick..it NEEDS to be something small and local…something isolated from the actual game world, like fractals, or wvw, or things in the mist.(and not just because you get to pvp other players..)

In this time of tyria being attacked by dragons, everywhere you see,and everywhere you go you see all races across all lands joining hands ,forces and knowledge together for a single common goal..to kill the dragon and its minions.

It would make no sense to add something to the game that would say “hey you, yea you..i dont care if youre a char,human,asura,norn..or even a asura, i dont care about the dragons trying to destroy the whole world, this concerns you and you have to pick a side now and fight the ones that picked the other side! (even if they are the ones you were fighting the dragons together with half a hour ago..)”

Describe GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Vukorep.3081

Vukorep.3081

gw2 has the most fluid combat system in a mmo ive ever seen, and a bunch of different unique classes to play with.

while all classes have the same stats at lvl 80 (except for base armor and base hp) they all play and feel differently. And while they can all equip gear with the same stats, and they can all go full dps, condi dmg or tanky/support they all do it in their own unique way

This is unfortunately something that a lot of people that are typing on the forums dont understand and then you see QQing posts about how a certain class sucks and isnt accepted in a dungeon/fractals, and how another class is horrible for pve,but facerolls every other class in pvp

Has several aspects of the game and might not all be for you.

1) PvE world is huge, it encourages you to explore and rewards you as well, secret areas, mini dungeons and jumping puzzles. Dynamic events, some even that have a chain,a series of events that shape the zone around you. There are also series of Living world story events that tell a story and have a huge impact on the world.
Playing any profession is fine here

2) PvE Dungeons, even tho there are a handfull of them, and each one has 3-4 paths to take they are unfortunately runned by speedclear groups almost all the time. Unless you go with your guildies expect a lot of leetizm.

Higher requirements are expected from you from other party members unlike the game itself (it might say the dungeon can be compleated at lvl 40 but they all WANT you to be lvl 80 in order to join).. only a few professions are welcomed to a dungeon party.

Not all paths are normally runned (only the shorter and simpler ones that can be speedcleared for rewards)

Even if you do join a pug party for speed clears most likely you’d have no idea whats going on around you…the dungeon will be over before you know what you just killed and looted from.

3) Structured PVP. A place where all players have access to all gear in the game and are thrown to fight in small teams in various pvp maps. While you could play any class here, you will most likely play the meta builds you see on youtube and forums

4) WvW PVP. Some may call it the current “end game” of gw2.
You represent your server in a fight against 2 other servers on (usually 2-3) maps. Defending your own, conquering the enemies map,and trying to conquer the 4th neutral map as much as you can.

You get to collect resources camps, and use its resources to build siedges to take down forts, strongholds and towers.

Unfortunately (i guess) there are only 2 real ways to play this part of the game.

-solo roaming, using a specific build for your (any) class to roam around the huge map in order to fight other lonely roaming opponents (or 1vs2-3-4…6 if youre pro enough)

-Blobadon zerg style, Banding up with 50+other players, stacking up on top of each other and crushing anything that comes in your path.

At first glance it seems boring and braindead, but there is actually much much more to blobadon style. You have to listen to your commander(leader of the blob) commands, follow him, use a build that contributes to your blob members, time your skills correctly (fire, water, static fields, blast finishers, veils, portals, banners, plegues ect) outmaneuver your opponents blob…set up sieges, destroy your opponents siege.

While all classes are welcome in the zerg, each one has to know when, how and what to contribute to the blob.

DPS eles can cast meteor shower to destroy a scattered/stationary enemy zerk,as well as destroy arrow carts and trebuchets, while defensive elementalists can call waterfields in front of the zerg and expect the zerg to blast finish it to fully heal the entire zerg

Warriors and guardians are usually tough enough to become commanders, but can also shout vital boons and use banners that keep the zerg up and running.

thieves are normally used to scout, they are the front eyes as well as back eyes of the zerg, they can notify the zerk of any danger thats ahead, or coming behind them.

Mesmers can use a series of portals that can transport quickly and efficiently a whole group of heavy siege golems that tear down the enemy forts gate that is normaly far far away from the base where the golems are build. It gives the element of surprise, instead of slooowly moving trough the whole map with golems…
They can also cast a veil in front of the zerk and make 50+people invisible for a short period (longer if more veils are used in a sequence) to give a huge advantage when fighting another zerg.

These are the most common professions/roles used in wvw blobadon style, but other classes do their part just as good.

There are a ton of more things i could say about gw2 my friend, but these are the core aspects that the game offers you to play with.

So after not playing gw2 for 6-7months i returned and it was hard to get back into the game for some reason so i decided ill make a new guardian character.

Played him for a week, now hes a lvl 80 guard with a couple of armor sets and a exotic heros greatsword and a rare heroes staff, his ascended armor set is also coming along the way ( there are timers on crafting deldrimor steel and bolts of danmask stuff..)

The leveling, exploring and doing small chapters of the personal story was simply great!

but now im left with just exploring the zones, hunting for traits and ascended gear crafting and dungeons.

For some reason i feel bored.

Then, just for fun, i decided to make a new sylvari ranger (all my other characters are human, and i never played a ranger before) and i decided to take a different approach

First of all, im going to take it aaaaall veery sloowly, witch seemed to be extremely rewarding.

I’m going around talking with “named” npcs, taking in the scenery, seeing so many small details i never noticed before.

I learned what it means to have a wyld hunt as a sylvari, i learned and seen the pods where they awake, i learned about the plant that makes sylvari weapons and armor..

Ive seen a little asura from durman priory recruting people for the haloween event

i also seen a human playing mad king for little quaggans…and then suddenly the real mad king shows up sets the human imposter on fire and starts telling jokes about sylvari (plant puns)

All that and i haven’t even gotten my first POI!?

There is soooo much in this world to see ,hear, explore, experiance and i think people (as i used to do as well) just rush trough it all, thinking they already seen and done everything theres to do in the map….well..poi,vistas and hearts arent the only things to be done i a map.

-back to my ranger now-

Hello and welcome to gw2

Megaservers is a system where you enter a map zone and get to see and play with different players form your and other servers combined.

all zones are affected except wvw

Megaservers also has a priority to put you in a zone with your party members, guild members, friends and other players from your server. (you wont be separated form your friend)

In short, megaservers lets you play with other players from other servers, making the zones you enter always full and live

As for picking your main home server, the main effect it has on you i would say is wvw and language.

Pick a server thats speaking your language (if not english) and when it comes to wvw you will only be able to team up with your own server players.

Personally, ive been playing on Gandara server since i started to play and im happy with my guild (from gw1) and im also happy with joining wvw groups that we have in wvw

i kinda agree, geting in first, mitigating and soaking up the initial burst and being able to fight for a long time is what makes the guardian special to me.

there are rune of traveler (i think?) that gives +25%run speed on (6)

also, for pve, i use staff 3 with retreat and save your self for infinite swiftness….

PS: im a guardian, i do consider taking my boons, heals, defensive skills/traits into consideration.

This is a MMO, suposed to be played with other people.

There are also 2 ways of geting such a feature.
1) a simple AI summon ,works like a elemental summon… think its worthless
2) Summon the actual character with his last equiped gear/traits/weapons, works like mercenaries from gw1…again, whats the point in this in a mmo such as gw.

People have been talking about this since forever . My theory why is cause they miss the henchman/hero feature form gw1,where you spend time on your heroes, team, builds, strategy and teamplay rather than only on your 8 skills weapon and armor set

The reason people are asking them self’s why do they keep playing gw2 (imo) is cause the whole game doesn’t have that much depth to drag you into it, to keep you interested, to keep pushing you in different directions so you can experience new exciting things you can do in the game.

There are plenty of reasons why the game doesn’t have that much depth… ill name a few:

1: Skills
You’re expected to play a mmo for years, yet you only have a handful of skills on your disposal… not to mention the mobs and enemies you face don’t seem to have any of them either.

special immunity, a condi atack, a aoe atack and a normal 2 sec delay attack is all i can see on the mobs that roam around.
The differences between them are just that some look different, hit harder or have more hp…

Solution? well…constantly changing traits and skills every now and then wont rely solve the problem.

2.Community

The community itself isnt the problem, its the game that doesn’t encourage the players to do anything more than simply pile up, buff up and bash anything that stands in front of them…and i did just describe what kind of mobs there are in the game..

dungeons, wvw, some LS content …it all reminds me of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_As592BYWU

note the low lvl guy in the end of the video that tries to follow the blob in order to lvl up and pick up some loot

3.Socialization

Because communication, planing and organizing groups isnt encouraged you could lvl up from 1-80, do wvw, spvp, LS…even dungeons without even talking with a single player.

dont get me wrong, some people love to be able to solo….but imo a mmo should encourage player interaction/socialization other than pressing F on a downed player or pressing a 3 on a combo field from another player….

Players that DO love chatting, running around with friends and doing content together with people will have a hard time in this game… and this influences a lot on ones motivation to keep playing

A-Net prooves themself wrong

Vukorep.3081

to the people saying there are only about 100 players in gw1 that do nothing and just sit in towns and “chit chat” ….oooh how wrong you are..

while its true gw1 has less players than gw2, and less players than it used to have it still has plenty of people actively playing trough the story line and not just sitting in towns chatting.

there are also people doing organised speed clears of elite areas that take time, effort, team coordination and plenty of team communication (something i barely see in gw2)

GW1 has 3 continents, missions, instances, dungeons and people are scattered across all of it and its the main reason why you cant see the whole player base on a single spot.

Also, the community is driven mostly by events. If there’s AB event people will massively group at those places, same goes as today’s Halloween even.

People are massively grouping in LA, Kamadan, ToA, grouping, forming pugs, communicate with each other, teaching each other about the “new” festival quests, rewards and farming places.

im sorry… but the OP is right about the differences between the community in gw1 and gw2….

i could go lvl 1-80, play wvw, LS,gear up, sell stuff,..even do all the dungeons without speaking with a single player in gw2.. what kind of a mmo is that?

in gw1 (atm during the festival) i go to ToA, ask about the thing people are doing most, 3 people explain me in whisper chat what i need to do before i could join them.

i do it, come back and join a party of 8 players. the 7 players give 5-10k gold to the leader and work together for a common goal (farming skeletons in UW)

You’d think people will run away with 70k gold? dont kid your self, been there since the festival started and never had or heard anyone mentioning of a scammer.

This is the difference between the communities of gw1 and gw2.

….and then there are those people who simply shrug their shoulders and say " i miss gw1 too bad its dead" and never look back on it. Its not as dead as you think, come take a look instead of being nostalgic of your favorite game

-3 second activation
-duration 45 secs
-Trappers patience (TRAIT) increases the duration of camuflague by 5 second for each trap you equip (+15s max, making it 60/60R time)
-recharge 60 second
-UNSTEALTH IF MOVED
-When unstealthed gain fury and swiftness for 10 seconds and stability for 5 seconds
Would be fun to set a bunch of traps and wait in stealth till someone walks by and springs the traps

i always said to improve combat in gw2 (or just make it a bit more interesting) is to give the mobs actual skills.

in gw1 mobs used skills just like a player would, as you progressed further into the game mobs would aquire more skills, even elites

in the harder zones mobs would have full builds. and since mobs in gw1 almost always showed up in a group, some group had combo builds that did well with eachother.

in gw2 most of the time i see:

-normal atacks
-special charging atacks that hit harder and has a effect like knockdown
-special charging attacks that do aoe dmg
-special condition applying atacks

thats it…. just my 2 cents

hi, Im a player with over 1k hours spend in game.
I have a lvl 80 ele,guardian and a thief.

Because i haven’t felt the need for crafting (and i still haven’t gotten 100% world completion to even start for my legendaryes) i have never leveled any crafting proffession (not even above 50)

The only exception is my elementalists tailoring that i brought up to 400+ a few days ago for my celestial armor.

So my question is:

Considering the amount i have spend in game, gathering all materials ive ever came across, salvaging all blues and greens for mats and MF, considering i have atleast 3+ stacks of iron, copper, soft, elder wood, mythrill, silk and a whole bunch of other items…

How much would it cost me (in gold) to lvl up all crafting proffessions on a single character by spending the materials i have first, and buying a few materials from the TP that i am missing?

Note i do have a couple of those critical crafting exp boosters, aswell as guild buffs

i can understand the problem here…but people are forgetting you can instantly sell any blue-green item for 2-5 S on tp..and you get a TON of them.

daily dungeon runs can give you over 20gold per day very easy

Spvp gives 10-15S each match

And everyone can “play the TP”

people are just lazy to work for some gold, and qq about spending 2s on a wp…

oooh Guild wars 1, how i miss your farming days

well why not just ask to remove event timers such as guild wars stuff or dragon timer?

they take away the magic of encoundering a shadow behemoth just as a “organised and efficient” champ run farm.

as for a high lvl helping a lower lvl, go to his low lvl zone, buy white armor and weapons from the armor/weapon npc and replace your exotics with it.

No Repair Cost & Less Gold?

personally, i still think the best gold income is doing fast dungeon speed clears.

If a person is running around in frostgorge and doing the champ runs the amount of silver he spends on WP is almost the same as the ones you get from the bags…

The only REAL profit you might get from the champ bags is by selling blue-green items (i just salvage it for MF), geting a rare item that sells for 30-40 silver, or a raaare exoitc item that gets you a few gold coins.

Note that i can do at least 2-3 dungeons that give me more than a exotic impaler before i will get enough champ boxes to get a exotic…

That being said, i think currently (before the patch) the pure gold you would get from champ boxes were just enough to cover up the WP cost you were spending around in frostgorge to even do champ runs.

Also, do note not everybody is doing champ runs. Armor repairs is used by everyone.

1% increase on tp is 1% increase for all, poor and rich…

players with over 100g wont feel the +5silver cost that comes with 1%increase but players with 10g will…

so my questions is: how does “tax the rich” work if the poor get effected just as well?

PS: Everyone can play the tp….seriously.. everyone

its one thing for a game to have a simplistic build system and not so many options to chose from to make a build, but it is a different thing to have only a few “viable” builds that “work best”.

The reason for that is that gw2 has only a few aspects of the game, pve, spvp and wvw.

For pve roaming map completion anything works, doesnt matter.
For pve dungeons full zerk works best
For wvw ,something a bit more tanky and with more survivability is prefered if youre going in zerg runs.

As for spvp there are a few options here and there, but people lean toward one more than the other.

even if you have 30x more types of traits, and 100 more types of armor sets people will still use the same thing as they do now cause the mobs didnt change, the speed clear dungeon stacking hasnt changed, and the wvw zerking blob vs blob hasnt changed.

It is important for players to realise this, pick a aspect they think they will spend most their time in, pick a class they feel they will have most fun playing, and then get the gear that exceeds best in the aspect of the game you are about to play in.

With the new feature pack that allows us to switch between traits and gear on the fly anywhere any time, people will run around with 2-3 sets of weapons/armor/trinkets and be set for life in all aspects of the game.

Warrior nerfs I'm thinking of maining Mesmer.

so what the op is trying to say is : “the overpowered class i have been playing seems to be targeted by nerfs and i am afraid it might get even more nerfs..so my reaction to that is rolling what i think is the 2nd most overpowered class, the mezmers. Anyone has any guide lines on that?” ?

if you have been playing wvw a lot you might have enough badges to buy your self a exotic zerk armor set form the wvw vendor.

you might also get zerk builds from dungeon tokens.

and i also think there are some karma vendors in wvw that sells zerk gear (rare quality, but still pretty useful)

currently the most “optimal” way to do speed runs in dungeons is so that everyone focuses on simple and pure damage.

Note there are also some other stats that combine damage and survivability.
Also note you are not forced into picking 1 set of stats, and applying them to all armor/weapon/trinket and food slots.

You might mix Knight armor (power prec tough) with zerker trinkets, and further balance things out to your liking with traits food and weapons.

I'm confused what weapon to use..@.@

as a warrior you have a ton of weapons and weapon combinations to pick from for any kind of situation.

weather it is for solo pve map completing , dungeons, fractals, spvp grouping, wvw, you can almost always decide on a weapon combo that fits mostly with your group.

having a warhorn will overall increase your and your groups swiftness, vigor, might/healing/swiftness (blast finisher) and also remove some movement conditions.

a greatsword is a nice weapon for dealing tons of dmg, you can also switch it with a hammer or axes.

in most dungeons i usually pick greatsword +axe/warhorn

are mesmers the weakest class

while rolling around in a ball of 50+ players isnt that "skillfull "

it does take team coordination, and a excelent commander that leads the ball in strategical advantage points in the heat of battle.

While it is also mostly spaming 11111111, there are also critical moments (seconds) in a zerk fight that can decide the end of the battle.

elementalists calling water fields on the commander, so the rest of the group can prepare their blast finishers to fill up the entire zerks health, static fields, walls, meteor showers that wreck wall siedges.

Fast thieves that report scouts that can make a zerg ambush, or avoid a battle.

I agree, sometimes combat seems simplified, but when you pile up a bunch of players with a bunch of various skills you can get some amazing resoults.

PS: Gw2 offers a lot of different content, some like casually exploring the pve world, others like fractals/farming dungeons, some are there for just to pla spvp. You cant say “i find eating a baggette on a cannon for 5 hours boring and there for it is bad”

zerker might (and probably will) stay the best pure dps gear.
