You will need one of the non-expansion games besides having EOTN. If you can tell us what pieces exactly we can tell you more accurately what you would need to do.
Heritage Jerkin and Heritage Boots. And Heritage armguards if 3 HoM points equals 3 armor pieces? They’re all from medium set.
And what do you mean non expansion game?
Eye of the north is a guild wars 1 expansion that you use to expand your existing guild wars 1 game/campaign.
In other words youw ill need to buy 1 campaign (prophecies, factions, nightfall) and then buy eye of the north expansion.
After that you will need to do various things (there are no real achievements or a list of stuff to do like in gw2) and that way you will earn titles. After beating the expansion you go to the eye of the north (the fortress in shiverpeaks) and add your titles inside th hall of monuments.
Each title brings you 1 HoM point (if the 2 games are linked via an account)
Besides titles, adding a hero equiped with elite armor, adding a unique rare pet fully leveled, Compleating elite zones, adding very rare unique weapons and adding certain amount of minipets also grant you HoM ponts.
Most of the titles and “things” require significant time investments ,specially as a new player but im sure there are some guides to get quick titles or something just enough for a full set of HoM armor. (tho some of them cost a lot of gold such as the drunkard/sweettooth title)
There is no need to remove ginger selling karma vendors in the city, they dont bother anyone and some recipies still exist that use those mats.
If anything they should add more to those karma vendors, expand their inventory, or add a mini game where you are required to do a small scavenger hunt to buy other acc bound karma materials such as almond, cherries and bananas and bring them to them for extra karma/gold reward.
There are tons of karma sinks in this game, mostly are newly added. If you are looking at those 300 karma green jotun great sword some renown heart vendor in the lvl 25 zone is selling then youre looking the wrong way.
-minipets
-Exclusive karma exotic armor /skins
-Cultural weapons/skins
-Pact supplier
-Wintersday gifts
-Obsidian shards (yes you can get those from other places, but you cant say youd rather keep your 3mill karma and pvp or farm stuff to get the shards)
- A title (achievement)
- A star next to name
- 2 Gifts of exploration (used to craft core, non hot legendaries)
You also indirectly gain (tho it can be gained without actually going for 100%):
-All waypoints in the core tyria for your world bosses, guild missions, story and other events
-All karma vendor items, including some money making ones, some that sell cheap valuable rare skins (goblet of the gods, jotun great sword ect)
-200 hero points for your elite specialization (tho its quicker to get 250 via hot…maybe for the next expansion? )
Im not talking about pvp teams that have 4-5 players playing the same class, just wanted to point this out right at the start.
Okay, so i do get that raids are rather hard compared to the rest of the game and while i do understand the need of different professions doing different roles inside raids… and i do understand the combo system is there so different professions can interact with each other to buff or deal special effects on a target…
But i had a idea of stacking multiple of the same professions which are either super self sufficient or have multiple diverse builds that when stacked on each other will form a “super unit”?
A few examples:
-Revenant teams: Multiple revenants can apply all boons to all other revenants permanently, there melee and ranged dpsers, condi revs, there are fire fields blast finishers, and even healers with condi clense and projectile absorption.
-Necromancers: Necromancers by default are super self sufficient. They might not even need a healer if they use shroud and life force generation efficiently, and having 5+ necromancers with minions and “Rise!” skills (even without having a minionmancer builds) seems like a interesting idea.
-Elementalists: Very versatile, having multiple ones focusing on staff dps, auramancing healing /boon support sounds good enough
-Engineers: Same thing as with elementalists, very versatile.
-Warriors: Similar to revenants, but with less projectile reflects.
-Guardians: Symbols for boons, can guard and support each other from anything, melee ,ranged, burst, condi they have it all.
-Ranger: Similar to guardians, lots of aoes, dps, condi, pet coordinating and druid healing makes them highly survivable.
-Mesmers: Very interesting to see tons of illusions, quickness and alacrity for days.
Im not saying people should stack lots of the same professions with the same build, im not trying to say this would be much better than anything before in pvp or raids…
Its just a fun idea that i had to imagine how would a group of 5+ players with various builds on the same profession perform in some large pve events, dungeons or stories.
PS: I had this idea from watching 2 yt videos showing off a small zerg of minionmasters and mesmers in wvw. Tho not much fighting was showed.
When not buying a purely cosmetic outfit from the cash shop cause it doesnt fit your taste on your specific character is a big problem of the game then you know things arent that kittenome people might believe it to be,,,
this is just my oppinion but:
1) Theres no need to do these kinds of posts…
2) Take a look at other games, lineage “profits” the most but…yeah
3) Ive seen nothing wrong with the new “direction” they are going, in fact they improved many areas of the game and mechanics.
4) Gw2 adds more cosmetic outfits and gliders…and that bothers some people how?
Id say more vitality. More vitality means more life force, and a higher max life force means all the skills and mechanics that increase your life force (which are all % based) will pump more life force.
Think of it like this, some classes have passive regeneration and other healing abilities that heal them for 300-700, but a single 5 targed necro staff can pump 20% of its life force every second.
20% of the usual 13/14k max life force = about 2700 life force. Imagine other professions being able to heal them self for 2700 health every second?
Almost in every game mod necro IS bad.
DS :
a) #1 auto is slow and weak
b) #4 has no dmg at all, bad with healing power scalingIt would be great to improve DS:
a) #2 teleport forward if used without target
b) #4 Arena.net please do whatever u want. Just to it. It would not get worse then now.
1) Actually the DS auto attack deals much more dmg than any of your other auto attack, it also pierces 5 targets. Compared with your staff auto attack (also pierces and is ranged) DS1 deals almost double dmg.
Even putrid mark deals less dmg than DS1.
2) Life transfer is an excellent utility skill for taging mobs, it sustains your Life Force very nicely so it can be used for more survivability. 750/s heals isnt too shabby (with 0 healing power), it also teleports all downed allies to you and rezzes them for 18% which is quite a lot to do on multiple downed players.
Again, its a utility skill, not a burst/heavy dps skill
3) DS2 would be cool if it was a ground target tp, but im sure people would complain about it being a slooow projectile moving tp, or that sometimes it also misses the target cause of it. Im not sure how else do you think for it to be a no targed tp.. aiming?
4) Demanding anet to do whatever to a skill cause “it cant get worse” without providing any sort of suggestion…yea..
people who just generally don’t know how to maneuver properly, pull trains of mobs into people or just ignore quest objectives and die constantly.
PvP is a god kitten nightmare the vast, vast majority of games iv’e played have nearly always had someone afk, and the rest of the team ignore objectives and just feed the opposing team.
Gw2 is a game where you cant compensate your lack of skill via gear grinding, and player skill is indeed required in this game.
Even in open world pve where “everything goes” people usually go full glass cannon on all professions regardless of their skill level often resulting in them getting downed more often than other playres.
This is specially true inside dungeons and fractals, and sometimes in events that spawn a lot of mobs.
As for pvp, lots of people are trying out pvp for the first time nowdays cause of the shiny new ascended rewards as well as raw gold profit. The skill cap is increased cause you dont fight moas that attack you once every 3 seconds anymore, you fight a coordinated team of 5 other players.
If youre new you might not know the layout of the map, the objectives, you probably dont know what other professions can do with their builds, heck some people dont even check what kind of meta battle build they copy pasted from the web they wanna play with on their “5 weeks old main character”.
I dont get the logic some people assume here with " they have old non hot adds cause they are avoiding the bad release"… but when someone goes to gw2 web site its all about hot , s3 living story and a option to buy hot in order to have a full account?
I have over 3k hours into the game and im about 210% out of 300%
Am i doing something wrong? Should i have salvaged ectos to max it out asap like a lot of people had?
Personally i use cheap food when im leveling an alt, the 25% exp from kills is pretty handy and it does add up.
Tho i dont actually use such food when im simply out there exploring and doing hearts.
The more expensive foods i only use if its really needed for my build such as 20% boon duration, 20% condi duration , or when im playing in fractals/dungeons/raids where top performance is required.
Also, food prices are usually tied to the prices of the materials needed to craft the food.
That or, if they cant be crafted, the price of the “container” or vendor where it comes from.
Another influence on price is if the food has a “duplicate” of it self such as having 2 foods that offer 100 power, but one lasts for 15min, and the other 30min.
and then theres also simply the demand and supply part
“uses a shield”
1) Guardian: Has tons of boon sharing both offensive and defensive, lots of utility that protects people (protection, regeneration, reflective wall, wards ect.
Guardian shield is very supportive, giving allies protection, aegis, a 4 second large moving area of projectile absorption +heal
2) Revenants: Ventari is a sustainable healer, has mass condi clears and a very long moving projectile absorption. Can also leave small packets of heals on the ground for others to pick up.
Heralds are indeed boon bots. depending on how good you are with energy managment you an permanently apply regeneration, fury, might stacks, protection and swiftness on nearby allies.
When using a shield its mostly for your own protections but it can also grant some heal and protection to allies.
3) Warriors: While they mostly focus on their own dps and sustain, the support they grant to their allies are usually offensive in nature.
Granting allies passive power, using banners for extra power, precision, condi dmg, defense, using shouts to grant even more might and precision as well as heals and condi clenses. You can also go phalanx strenght and share a insane amount of might stacks to everyone around you..
While using a shield you are focused on your self, 3 seconds of blocking is amazing, and a shield bash can be used to reduce break bars.
4) Mesmers: They usually buff their allies with stealth, quickness and alacrity. Can also spam some phantasms that reduce the dmg from players nearby as well as lots of projectile reflections.
While wielding a shield it grants you a few blocks and some alacrity. Its also able to grant allies a small amount of quickness.
“laid back profession”
Among all the above profession id say the warrior is mostly laid back. Their skills, traits and abilities are mostly passive or just 1 click away.
Another good option would be a guardian as it offers the most supportive abilities while still using a shield.
A option which is inbetween the above two would be revenant. His rotations are very simple that of a warrior, but he has a good amount of utilities ,effects and abilities that can support others around him. He also heals more than a guardian can, but you will have to learn how to manage your energy between legends and between weapon and utility skills.
Before i go on, is there a “sum up” somewhere that ties in whats going on with the current events or is it all just a simple “magic is leaking everywhere and crazy stuff is going on because magic”?
Cause a crazy idea came to my mind today. What if the lunatic court released another seal to free the Mad King?
We have seen them doing it in gw1 and lots of crazy stuff were going on, mostly in pvp tho with various global effects applying in most pvp zones.
Its probably a loooong shot, and im kinda figure it would be the dragon killing, magic leaking crazy stuff happening cause magic going wild thing….but wouldnt it be interesting? It would continue a very old unfinished story/mystery.
i can play 3 different builds on my guardian in pvp. Some of them dont even use dragonhunter. And i still manage to be “viable” while using it in the role the build was ment for
2-3 on elementalist (the 3rd one being a glassy staff nuker..but i dont play it ranked much cause of the unpredictability of my team comp)
2-3 on thieves as well,
3 on ranger, 4 if you count a druid version of the previous non druid version.
(edited by Vukorep.3081)
id like my Antitoxin Spray back plase
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Antitoxin_Spray
on another note, after they changed certain skills to “fit” in a skill category (signets, banners, shouts ect) there are still some skills that are not part of any category such as guardians shelter healing skill, warriors mending healing skill.
There are also some new categories added to the game with elite specializations such as warriors rage skills or scrappers gyro skills.
And then there are also some categories that share the same name but feel totaly different when compared with other skills within the same categories such as thieves physical skills compared to warriros physical skills.
Some of them even mix different mechanics from different categories but are listed as 3rd kind of category.
Example, Daredevils distracting daggers being a physical skill, but essentially feels and works like a mantra.
But yeah. We got 1 extra new healing skill for all the classes, dont have a problem with 1-2 new elite skills.
Tho im sure there will be people complaining about that as well…
Rule No1: always move
Rule No2: Pick up boosters and use them well
Rule No3: Seek health
Rule No4: Group up, and focus down enemies 1 by 1
Rule No5: Predict enemy movements
simple, but not many people get it
If im alone i seek out allies, i usually have about 10-15 kills every match and a k/d ratio of 2/3:1
How about adding some some “achievement” into the challenge?
I use a challenge with my alts where i can only level within shiverpeak zones, get to lvl 80 with 0 deaths ,explore all shiverpeak zones and kill claw of jormag for the grand finale!
Rules were:
-Only use gear from karma vendors, champ bags, treasure chests, lvl up rewards
-Cant buy, can sell on tp, no exp boosters what so ever.
-Salvaged upgrades can be used.
I also added a mini rule about racial skills , must use 3 till lvl 30, 2 1lite from 31-60, then 11 elite, then 1 elite till you kill claw of jormag.
Nowdays i use the same rules but instead of shiverpeak zones im actually exploring from queensdale→ruined city of arah (10 maps)
If you think you will be bored of the old core tyria maps (or if you already 100% them) you might wanna start with unlocking your main characters elite specialization. Might give you a new way to play and keep things interesting.
Followed by doing achievements for your elite specializations weapon.
Explore hot zones, finish the hot storyline. Start maybe lving world season 3?
tomes of knowledges are already powerfull enough to lvl alts. People who got hundreads of them already use them as they are intended to be used (on alts),and those who hoard hundreads of tok just already have tons of alts.
Plenty of spirit shards sinks ,people are just not interested in spending money on other components to craft such items/weapons/skins.
Using tok on a lvl 80 character in order to unlock a RANDOM waypoint is also pointless.
Firslty its random and you wont even know which one it is unless you get a animation where it zooms you in the location of the newly unlocked WP.
Secondly at lvl 80 ,with any class its pretty easy to run in any direction across all zones.
I actually tried this on a engineer, it took me maybe 1 afternoon to explore ALL waypoints in the core tyria with a newly created lvl 70 engie (i lvled up by exploring lower lvl zones/waypoints first)
I am Gold 2 and yesturday there was a 250 ap player in my team, twice, announcing to the team that he is a healer/buffer guardian and that he never lost a game so far. We lost that game.
How can a 250 ap account playing a guardian (not dh) healing staff buffer player enter gold 2 ranked games…multiple times?
-Rangers cause exploring and finding new pets to charm is a fun “mini game” on its own. Also has a torch and can stealth a little bit.
-Thieves cause they exceed at movement speed, can also be used to farm mats very efficiently (20g/h). They also have stealth, far better ones, as well as shadowsteps, perfect combo for mini dungeons and jumping puzzles.
+There is a torch of kryta or something like that in the laurel vendor. its a gizmo that allows you to equip a torch that can light the way. However it removes all your weapon skills.
There are numerous consumable items in the games that allow you to stealth, you can combo them for a easy 5seconds of stealth. They can also be used on any profession
The problem is that all lvl 80 gear have the exact same stats (in power) and once you get full exotic gear with the most commonly used zerker stats there is little to motivate you to get other gear besides ascended quality gear.
Skins? Lets take dungeons for example. There are 8 dungeons in the game, each having 19 weapon skins and 18 armor pieces.
and now heres the thing. There are plenty of weapons and armor out there to “work on”. However usually people go for the cheapest, shortest and most efficient way to get the gear with stats that they wish to obtain.
Here is an example. People can play citadel of flames dungeon ,all 3 path within 30minutes or less, heck some path take literaly minutes to compleate. People can also do a few Crucible of eternity dungeon paths per day to get some of those dungeon tokens. In the end they will buy both CoF and CoE lvl 80 exotic gear with berzerker stats.
You know what they wont do to get zerker stats? Arah dungeon which takes from 30-60minutes per path.
People can also craft their own gear with stats they wish, including ascended armor/weapon with any stats they wish…or they can buy them even cheaper trough the tp with gold.
All that being said there are still tons of skins to go for. Dungeons, fractals, specific head and backpack skins from old living world content (laurels). Guild weapons (3 sets) guild armor, glorious, triumphant armor sets, the dry tops weapons, the silverwaste armors (2 sets). Bladed armor sets, layline armor set, all sorts of hot weapon sets.
They even introduced new gloves, hats, backpacks for each of the new zones recently.
All those require you to do specific tasks in specific zones in order to obtain the skins. Much like the way we obtained the cool rare “skins” from gw1 like the chaos gloves or torment weapons.
In your opinion which class do you find to be the most balanced as far as damage, survivability, utility, etc. Basically the average Joe character.
Do you mean a balanced class for its own gameplay or a balanced class comparing its performance with other classes?
If you mean a balanced class for its own gameplay, so it can deal good dmg but is not squishy and can also support its team then i would say warrior, guardian, revenant, rangers, somewhat engineers as well.
1) Warriors: have good-high damage with great damage modifiers, their defenses are mostly passive (high base armor and health, high health regeneration and other dmg mitigation traits and skills such as blocking or endure pain). They can also support their team via shouts and banners as well as phalanx strenght trait, usually increasing everyones damage.
2) Guardian: Good dmg, nice burst dmg as well, some specific but good dmg modifiers as well. While they have the lowest health pool in the game they back it up wiht lots of regeneration, heals, blocks, invulnerabilities, blinds and other sorts of damage mitigations. They can also apply those defenses to other players nearby, also healing them and sometimes increasing their dmg as well via might boons.
3) Revenants: While he seems like a jack of all trades kind of guy, he can also focus on 1 role and exceed in them, such as, +70% damage, +100% healing,20-50% damage reduction ect. They have some nice utilities such as sharing all sorts of boons on all party members all the time, a very long 10-20 second projectile absorption, mass aoe condi clense and heavy cc. They have high armor and medium health.
4) Rangers: Great dps, usually ranged followed by melee. They have superb condi dmg as well. Their defenses usually involve dodging, evading, using pets to tank while you shoot from far away (the longest range in the game 1500 units, others have up to 1200.) Their utility involves buffing teammates dmg drastically, best burst healing in the game via druid elite specialization, nature spirits. They are also one of the more versitile profession in the game making it fun to play and never boring.
Do note that all professions can use any stat combination on their gear, meaning even a squishy thief can become a super tank that deals dmg trough bleeding
800 for 10 and 400 for 5 seems reasonable
In regards to the question about reward tracks – the Heart of Maguuma one may be worthwhile because if you complete the Ley Armor achievement you can get another Ascended Armor item. Since this season is 1 item short of a full set of Ascended Armor, you could use this achievement completion to finish that set.
Well, i would firstly need to do the first 3 reward tracks before i could start doing the maguuma one. Then i would get only 4 pieces of layline armor pieces. And i need 18 total armor pieces to fully unlock the achievement which gives me 1 piece of ascended armor.
Considering i have enough of ascended shards of glory to get 5/6 ascended armor pieces (ardent glorious armor) with any stats that i wish to select (including hot stat sets) i think ill pass on the maguuma reward track.
Bloodstone rubies are can be farmed slowly but easy. I still think having the ability to almost fully unlock the entire Arah weapon+3 types of armor is the best option. Not only i get to unlock skins, but i also end up with 37 exotic items.
Eddit: im actually amazed… i know it took many pvp matches over the past pvp league seasons, but im really really surprised how much i will get during the next 25 days of playing pvp for a few hours ( while i only need 4 wins and 5 top stats im sure ill do at least 7-10 matches per day if im having a loose streak).
The next 25 days ill get:
-Legendary pvp armor backpack + Glider
-5/6 ascended armor pieces with any stats in the game
-37 exotic weapons and armor (arah skins!! also arah stats, including zerkers!)
-over 200 gold cash (from repeating byzantium chests and selling un-dyes)
-a mini black liamma
-lots of random mats from reward track chests
-about 60 tomes of knowledge
-a handfull of transmutation charges
-Am i missing anything else?

Im starting to think i should keep some of the similar items i randomly find in the world and when something like this happends i just put my item for sale at 1 copper less and see what happends ..
The spineguard is only that price because no one really dose dungeons anymore. It will never sell for that price. Seeing as it dose nothing other than give you stats, that can be gotten from temples for karma. So yeah never going to sell for that price.
Dont fool your self, plenty of people are doing AC all the time.
Also, i think Wanze made a reddit post where he mentions the 7777g backpiece is his
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5n6t6a/long_term_gw2_trader_ama/?st=ixumt4q1&sh=73dcb962
Sry for double posting, but i just noticed that i will also be able to finish a little more than 7 full reward tracks.
I was thinking of doing the arah reward tracks. Doing 7 of those will grant me all 19 weapons (+2 extra ones), 7 pieces of armor and 1680 tokens (that i will use for another 9 pieces of armor).. Leaving me with 3 pieces of armor left to be unlocked to fully unlock all arah skins.
Or do you think i there is a better reward track for me to finish 7 times this way?
well obviously im going for it cause i want the skin, the glider (i have no other gliders) and well… the prestiege /sense of accomplishment.
Whats the difference between male and females weaing the backpack?
it looks the same. What I meant is it looks too “girly” on my male chartacters . Doesn’t go well with my armor.
Ah i see. Well im usually playing a heavy class with some sort of gold/silver/deep blue theme so it kinda works out for me
well obviously im going for it cause i want the skin, the glider (i have no other gliders) and well… the prestiege /sense of accomplishment.

TL;DR: If i keep up with my plan, ill get legendary backpack in 25 days! Wish me luck
I started doing pvp league last year in January thinking it would be cool if i get at least the t1 wings. During the 2nd season i managed to get the t2 wings and a bit left over pvp tickets. I also managed to get some achievements that involved purely buying stuff from tp and combining them in the MF.
How i had to go offline for half a year cause of work and i thought i cant possibly get anything more than i already have with the pvp rewards.
I came back in october only to start playing this current pvp season. Ive noticed how good i can progress trough the chests and get pvp tickets now so i thought i can get my self the precursor wings.
I got my precursor wings, and i thought i would stop playing ranked pvp cause there wasnt enough time for me to finish the entire thing.
Then i noticed one day that the season ends on a thuesday 7th feb. I honestly for some reason thought it will end on JAN 7th.
I did some math and research and i discovered that i can actually get the legendary pvp backpack in the next 25 days!
But only if i:
-Win 4 times per day-
-Get 5 top-stats per day.
There are some other requirements such as getting 130k rank points, killing 200 players, and winning about 44 matches across 3 different professions. But all those will be automatically acquired while im working on the daily 4 wins!
Todays progression went with 7 matches, 4 wins, 5 top stats.
I dont expect its going to be easy as i make it sound, but im giving it my all!
Wish me luck!
PS: Im gold 2 atm, started from silver 1 this season.
PPS: Speaking of gold ill get about 200 gold from the byzantium chest rewards (not counting dyes) by the time i get the back piece. also 5/6 pieces of ascended armor with cool unique skins

no energy draining, no horrifying images of fear and nightmare (just clones and ghostly looking phantasms), they dont make them clumsy or cry from pain and frustration, they might interupt them (so could gw1 mesmers) and delusional only works on pve mobs and some players i guess when you are using lots of clones ,stealths and blinks..but only mechanically. I get more feelings of delusions and loosing somoenes mind when a revenant embraces the dark using malyx ultimate.
no migranes, and no forceful attacks on opponents feelings?
This is what im looking for.
http://gw2101.gtm.guildwars2.com/global/includes/images/hero-mesmer.jpg
i wasnt trying to compare the LOOKS of gw1 mesmers and todays “human dresses and tuxedos” standard, im talking about the actual skills.
As in trying to find a set of armor that compliments the theme of what a mesmer really does besides using illusions to look pretty and entertain the nobility of divinitys reach.
Also, non human mesmers
Why are mesmers always tied with looking fancy, classy, tuxedos, ball room dresses?
Either that or funny, witty, clown, carnival magician entertainer looks?
I understand lyssa being the goddess of beauty to an extent, and i understand illusion magic being associated to modern day illusionists magicians from las vegas….and then there are some “well known” guild wars characters who are mesmers that fit in that stereotype like Kass, or Anise, or that magician from human noble personal story who pops out of nowhere at the end of the zhaitan story during credits who throws confetti and dances with moas…
What happened to the dangerous mesmers from guild wars 1? The one who wielded chaos storms, drained their foes from their energy, conjured horrifying images of fear and nightmare who tormented their foes.
Mesmers who were attacking the enemies brain, causing them to be clumsy, making them cry from pain and frustration, making them delusional, made them feel imagined burden and slowed them down.
Caused migranes, wracking their minds, making them mistrust their own allies, making them feel shameful and even emphatic towards their enemies that they hated enough to kill on sight..
Is there anyone out there who made their mesmer look something that compliments that kind of mesmer? The kind of mesmer who isnt a rich fancy noble human, or a happy go lucky human carneval entertainer?
Also, how do you even “fit” a non human into such stereotype?

what materials do chefs use that cant be contained in the material bank?
While i do understand your first part where people use the “dps” when refering to anything regarding attack or attacking..when it comes to actual dps its a bit tricky in this game.
Now that we have golem that we can test out the dps of our skill rotation i will never show the real dps you will do in its fullest.
firstly, when people test their builds/skill rotation and wanna show off their dps they always seem to apply every single boon and damage increase possible in the game and apply constant 25 vulnerability on the golem.
Okay, you wanna try to simulate the buffs and conditions on a boss battle in raids, but you are doing a perfect skill rotation on a standing golem with you standing next to it.
The real dps includes moving, dodging, healing, raid boss mechanics which all drop your actuall dps.
But hey, at least we can messure what profession with what set up and rotation can do the most amount of dps…inside a lab
This is amazing. I even recognized some youtubers footage and voices .
You people deserve some kind of reward!
TL:DR:
-Never trade via mail with strangers.
-Chat codes exist and anyone can link any item in the game, even those that dont exist such as paper bag hats.
-Add the player on friends list and check the amount of AP it has, its not a very good indication on how much the player was active but it does give you a rough idea.
-If a player mails a large amount of gold to another player, the player sending the gold could get autoflagged as a goldseller and get punished.
Unless you are playing with friends and you guys mail eachother some gear they dont/cant use thats fine but heres
Heres a little story i had today in Lions arch.
Apparently there was a person standing infront of the trading post for hours and he was whispering players a lot.
He whispered me starting with complimenting me and my viking looking norn.
He offerend to sell his Twilight which he linked in the chat (everyone can do that with chat codes). But the problem is he doesnt have enough money to put it up for sale on the trading post, so mail trade is the only option.
I ask him for how much,he tells me 1000 gold.
I ask him howcome a person who has a non soulbound twilight doesnt have 50 gold to post the weapon on the tp? (TP requires 5% fee to list the item for sale, and takes 10% more when it sells, so you really do need just 50 gold to put up a 1000g worth item)
He starts explainig that i am wrong and that he needs 150 gold to set the item up for sale. I try to explain him that he only needs 50, and the other 100gold will be reduced from the sale later when he sells it.
He then starts explaining that im wrong again, and that it is actually 150 at start and 300 later, and that he actually needs 450 in total….
I ask him why does he need 1000gold for? He replies he needs to give back 500gold to his friend that he borrowed gold from before.
I add him on friends list and see he only has 1200 AP and i see him using some sort of outfit to cover up his character).
Then he starts spamming me with things like " no dude, trust me, please im not lying"
I tell him i cant trust someone with 1200 AP that claims to have unbound twillight crafted that he wants to sell for 1/3rd of a price via mail cause he doesnt have 50 gold to put it up for sale on TP.
He starts calling me names, i call him a scammer and the conversation ends.
I go to /map chat and warn people about him and the conversation we had. I was happy that people instantly knew where the story was going towards and knew he was trying to scam.
ugh , i think i fixed it . somehow my laptop batteries went into power saving mode. i manualy switched them up to best performance and its working just fine now
the thing is ive been playing it on almost all high settings for a smooth 55-60+fps constantly all this time.
and playing other games works just fine so its only gw2. :/
for the last few days my game is constantly stuttering, even on full low graphix settings.
The fps seems okay, the usual 55-60, but its constantly stuttering, it takes like 5 seconds of frozen screen to open my hero panel and it took 15 seconds of several screen freezes to open my map, click and drag from dr into black citadel…
On top of that it takes aaages for the game to close. i press exit game and then it just freezes with the screen showing my character in the game (not the character creation) after witch it closes down.
This only started happening recently and i never experienced any problems of similar kind.
Anyone else experiencing this? anyone knows how to fix it?
Tips:
-Exploring the cities, pvp lobby and guild halls will bring you to about lvl 9.
-Doing dungeons is a great way to boost your exp, but also a very dangerous way as you might die.
-PvP deaths count towards the /death counter
-Deaths by disconection does NOT count towards the /death counter (thanks anet!!)
-Mobs that stay alive for a longer period grant a big bonus exp when finally killed. You can find these in low traffic areas as well as passive (yellow named) creatures such as dolyaks, moas and underwater fish. There are many areas in shiverpeaks with such creatures but ill let you discover them
-Every day you can go back to previous zones and get new gear from easy chests, you dont actually have to risk your life on some hard and dangerous jumping puzzles.
-Always pay attention to the level of the monster you are facing. There are some mobs that are upscaled and become 2-4 levels above your downscaled level and will hit very hard.
-Expect to play defensively, use blocks, blinds, stealth, mobility to avoid as much damage as possible as your gear will never be fully up to date and the mobs you face will often be at your level, if not higher. Do NOT rely on zerker full glass cannon builds too much.
-Pay close attention to the NO FLY ZONE. Some areas like the mines in dredgehaunt cliffs have no fly zone.
-Pay attention to your surroundings, if youre on a cliff, or in a cave with a deep hole do NOT use movement skills such as leaps or warrior gs 5
-You WILL get out leveled at certain times. Feel free to go back in previous zones to do events. Chain events such as the 5 events svanirs maw is great.
So there it is. My own challenge. It is hard, it has a start and an end, it also has fail conditions making it an actual challenge instead of just a check list of things to do.
Personally i use this every time i level up alts. It makes it so much more interesting instead of consuming tomes, scrolls or just powerleveling trough. It also gives you a certain feeling of gear progression as you are looking forward to opening low level champ bags, excited what you might get from a chest you found in the world, and constantly looking for better armor in renown hearts vendors.
I tried this as a norn guardian, human thief, human necro and a charr warrior but i only finished this challenge ONCE as a sylvari elementalists using staff at early levels, dagger/focus at mid levels and finaly scepter/focus during my leveling in frostgorge sound.
,,.and boy oh boy did it felt heroic going through all that journey trough the shiverpeak mountains, with ups and downs, nerve wracking moments when i got downed cause i thought im strong enough to take up more than 2 mobs at a time, the champions i fought off with only a few other players, setting foot in the last zone, completing it to 100% and finally face claw of jormag and watch it fall.

Alright, so i create a vigil asura necromancer called Sehsof The Hero.
-I have no restricitons on how to level up the character to lvl 80 which is my first goal
-I can farm karma for karma exotic armor, as well as wvw and dungeons
-I have no restriction on how i get gold, tho im not sure if i can buy cheap non lvl 80 exotics from the TP as a free to play acc (nobody said i needed to obtain lvl 80 exotics)
-I can get lvl 400 cheapest crafting to get exotic back piece
-exotic sigils can also be aquired from dungeons
-Best way to get the ascended rings as a ascended player is to farm fractals and buy them like that. There are no laurels as a free to play and there are no core tyria, non living world season 2 vendors
-Geting an ascended weapon requires lvl 500 crafting, can also farm tequatl every chance i get in the mean time
And after all that i become a hero? I wish there was more to the challenge besides rushing towards lvl 80 anyway possible and then farming dungeons and fractals for exotic armor, ascended trinkets and gold to craft an ascended weapon. Also, personally, i cant call challenges a challenge if there are no fail conditions.
Here is my suggestion, and it is also my challenge that i often play ,specially when i level up alts.
The challenge is significantly harder than yours and plays much different than people are used to play guild wars which i find very interesting and engaging.
TL;DR: Get to lvl 80 by only exploring shiverpeak zones and kill Claw of Jormag with 0 deaths. Can only use gear from renown heart vendors, champion bags and hidden/jumping puzzle chests (risk vs reward)
Read the Tips section, it helps a LOT.
Rules:
-Fresh start, 0karma,0 gold. Can also empty up other currencies, tho you wont be using them anyway.
-Cant buy ANYTHING from the TP, selling is allowed.
-Cant use ANY experience boosters other than food that you buy from karma vendors, or other merchants from cities. Exp boosts from banners that you find is allowed, guild hall boosters OTHER than exp is allowed as well.
-Before level 80, NO crafting and NO instant level up tomes. Any writs of experience that you acquire with this character can be used, but you cant do all dailies on your main, and then use the writs on your challenger character.
-You are allowed to do dungeons (Sorrows embrace and honor of the waves) however you must do them 100% from start to end on your challenge character. No using main and switching to challenger to reap the end exp reward.
-No transmutation of skins. Having cool looking backpacks and gear or even legendary as you level up,or even at lvl 80 breaks the immersion of leveling up and progression. Each piece of gear you obtain will be unique and different from lvl 1-80 and beyond.
-CANNOT use any equipment you get from looting mobs. You can salvage them for runes and sigils tho.
-Your new gear comes mostly from renown heart vendors but you can also aquire new gear from hidden chests across the maps such as the jumping puzzle as well as champion bags from strong champions.
This means that if you wish new up to date gear you have to engage in risky encounters against strong champions or tricky jumping puzzles that may cause your death.
Preparation:
-Play ANY class/race you wish, this challenge is hard even with your main profession.
-Right after you finished your tutorial explore all 6 cities to 100%.
-Explore the PvP Lobby (yes it does give you extra experience)
-Explore your guild hall (having 2 different guild halls and exploring them is also okay)
Objectives:
-Your objective is to level up from 1-80 using EXCLUSIVELY ONLY Shiverpeak zones.
-After exploring Wayfarer Foothills (1-15) , Snowden Drifts (15-25), Lornar’s Pass (25-40), Dredgehaunt Cliffs (40-50), Timberline Falls (50-60), Frostgorge Sound (70-80) to 100% you must face the Claw of Jormag and defeat him!.
-You MUST do this the “iron man” way, meaning 0 deaths at 100% shiverpeak exploration, and after killing claw of jormag. Use /deaths to check if you have any deaths, if it says anything other than 0 you lost the challenge.
sry if im bumping this, but i didnt wanna make a new thread.
Today i also noticed that whenever you hear your legends say something or groan or yell it actually comes from you.
If you zoom in to your head and switch legends or use ultimate or healing skills you will see that your characters mouth is moving as you hear the legend.
Are revenants also possessed ?
Suddenly embrace the darkness makes more sense.
regarding so many replies about the earth shield and none about me saying my idea to why having refreshed cooldowns on conjured weapons…
i still think that 3 seconds of invulnerability mitigates waaay more damage than a stun break with 3 blocks. Specially with the case of refreshed cooldowns the op suggested, making it 6 seconds of 0 damage, 6 seconds of all other cooldown going down, 6 seconds of regenereation or any other type of healing if you have any.
Do other shield skills compensate for something?
2 second daze
1 pull
8s cd block
pair it with refreshed cooldowns the op suggested and double it, makes some very nice break bars going down within seconds of casting the shield, using the skills, droping, picking up the second and repeat.
or maybe people constantly have to look at skills from a pvp perspective?
@BlackBeard all CW skills should be instant cast. I can see how icebows frost volley, ice storm, deep freeze would be great on a instant cast.
Your description doesnt sound anything what the dervish was in guild wars 1.
They werent farmers and they didnt help common folk wiht their crops and fields…
They were holy warriors specialized for combat and battle, they used earth prayers for self preservation as well as releasing sand storms appon their foes. They used wind prayers to enhance their speed and combat abilities.
On top of that their faith was unshakable, and fully dedicated towards the human gods. This enabled them to become avatars of the god them selves enacting their divine will and reaping their blessings.
“Serving the gods as holy warriors, dervishes stand confidently in the whirlwind of conflict. Martial techniques perfected in the deserts of Elona allow a Dervish’s scythe to lash out quickly at multiple opponents, surrounding the holy warrior with a swath of destruction. Initiates often learn spells of self-protection, prayers that rush a combatant into battle, and invocations that empower attacks with elemental fury. Masters of the profession can assume the form of a god, enacting divine will with holy blessings. Keenly aware of the conditions of a fight, a Dervish can reap great benefits by using multiple Enchantments. Wandering the savannahs and deserts of Elona, the faithful Dervish chants prayers to the earth and wind… and the fury of the sandstorm answers in response.”
Note that the “elemental fury” refers to a wide varerity of self enchantments/auras that were commonly tied to the human gods again such as lyssas haste, balthazars rage, grenths aura and grenths fingers which enhanced their attacks with elemental damage
They had the word “earth” and “wind” (similar to air) and they used enchantments in guild wars 1… but thats about the only vague things they have in common with elementalists. They werent casters, they were soldiers. Think of a mix between a protection/smitting/melee monk i guess… but we kinda already have that one in form of a guardian
(edited by Vukorep.3081)
i know we said just for fun, no limits go crazy but all i see here is something that will completely change elementalists and turn it into some different kind of magic user.
removing attunements, generalizing weapon skills across all attunements making 20 weapon skills exactly the same, but in a different color and effect (think glyphs), adding light and dark magic (out of nowhere, also not an element). adding more stats depending on the attunement you are in (you already get that from specializations), removing conjured weapons and adding them as real weapons with weapon swap (so we can have 40 skills?…
My idea is a little bit more “realistic” and its an idea of a next elite specialization.
Tempest kinda buffed auras so lets get a new elite specializaton that buffs conjured weapons. Lets call it Enchanter, and lets give the ele a main hand sword (or dual wield sword, either way is good)
The new mechanic is similar to overload from tempest but instead of causing another aoe attack we “enchant” our weapon with special effects based on the attunement.
It would be a mix of mesmer mantras and thieves venoms.
Example:
You start casting fire enchanting, it has 3 seconds of cast time but you can cancel the channeling at any time by hitting f1 again.
1 second channel= your spells grant 1 stack of might for 3 seconds and cause 1 second of burning for 20 seconds
2 second channel= Your spells grant 2 stacks of might for 3 seconds and cause 2 second of burnng for 15 seconds
3 second channel= your spells grant 3 stacks of might for 3 seconds and cause 3 seconds of burning for 10 seconds
Then we can also use the elite specialization traits that grant extra effects if you enchant a conjured weapon for example:
fire enchanting a conjured weapon= your attacks have splash aoe now and have 50% chance of causing burning
Lightning enchanting a conjured weapon= your attacks cause a bouncing bolt 50% chance on hit (imagine a ice bows ice storms and all those bouncing bolts everywhere)
Im sure you can see this can be balanced with strenghts and weaknesses if youd give further thoughts into it. Would end up just like any other elite specialization, sticking with the theme of elementalist weaving 4 elements and empowering a certain core skill type (conjured weapons) who arent really used that much atm, but could get an overhaul and buff with the specialization
@Justine I see and understand what you did there, but it looks seems like its not what i had in mind when i said “sustain healing”. I mean, yes i can go from 0-100% when i engage by blowing off my longbow 2 and 5, torch 5, entangle ultimate, maybe spam some more axes that bounces (if i switch instead of sword) but all that time i cant seem to heal besides when i activate a glyph.
And after i enter celestial avatar and burst heal im back to auto attacking and trying to catch as much enemies in my bow and torch 5 skills.
I might be wrong ofc…
@Fluffball trying to find a way to be able to constantly heal for a reasonable amount in order to sustain the life of certain encounters in dungeons, fractals and pve events with various npcs needed to stay alive.
Tho i am not focusing on going full healing power, picking the staff seemed like a good start to be able to heal for at least something while celestial avatar is down.
In the end, the Druid might not even be what im looking for. Maybe its ventari herald, maybe its s/w auramancer tempest. But thats okay, just looking for opinions and listening to experiences
